Starting point is 00:00:00 Recorded live at Corolla 1 Studios with Adam Carolla and board certified physician and addiction medicine specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky. You're listening to The Adam and Dr. Drew Show. Yeah, get it on. Got to get it on. No choice but to get it on mandate. Get it on. Thank you. So much for joining us. I had a funny thing. I don't know if you heard this, Drew. But we are taping this show a couple days before you guys are hearing it. Still Thanksgiving vacation for everybody.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Mm-hmm. And thank you so much for supporting the show. And we ask you to tell a friend, share it with a friend. That's your only advertisers. And by the way, Drew, I was funny. I was listening, like out of a movie to me. Yeah. You're listening to you.
Starting point is 00:00:56 No, I'm sorry. I was driving my car. this morning. And it was a scene from a movie. Which was the following. I'm driving on my way to the studio. And I'm just listening to just local AM news, you know. And it's like, and President Obama's making a trip to the Southland.
Starting point is 00:01:17 And I'm like, yeah. He's on a fundraiser. So it's like, again, I know sound like a colossal prick. the 150 rounds of golf and the going on the fundraisers. Los Angeles thing is, I actually wrote down a quote. His latest quote is, I wake up every day,
Starting point is 00:01:35 I work as hard as I possibly can for the American people. I thought, 150 rounds of golf? How does it work? Again, you and I are a little bit different. I'm not saying we're harder working than Obama. I just, I can't find time to play golf because.
Starting point is 00:01:53 One, nine holes. No way. No way. No way. Not mentioned 18, even the pitch and putt. But I don't, you know, I don't fault him for doing it. I fault him for doing it while he's closing down the White House, doing it while he's talking about hardworking families that are having to tighten their belts and all that doing it when he's talking about. Just symbolically. Kids having food going to bed at night with food and securities. And then he's got a tea time in an hour. It's a weird symbolic thing to me. I don't get it.
Starting point is 00:02:25 But all right. It's fine. And people can go, hey, Bush did it too. But after the whatever war, I can't remember which one, whoever Iraq, Iran, whatever, whatever, golf, whatever, he stopped playing golf. He just said, I don't think it's right to be playing golf while guys are going over there getting shot at. Okay, good. Good for you.
Starting point is 00:02:46 You can say, look, he just did it as a PR stunt. Fine. It's all symbolic anyway. It's all symbolic anyway. No one's doing anything. The president can go out of town for two weeks. The country's going to run itself. But he's out in the Southland, and he's doing fundraising, which is exactly what drives me nuts,
Starting point is 00:03:07 which is now that you're done raising funds for your own campaign, and this isn't a right-left thing, everyone does it. It drives me nuts. You're done because this is your last term, but now you're going to raise, you're going to fundraising for somebody else. So the fundraising, you're not a year into your, you're not a year into your, you're, you're, It's your second term here. Why were you out doing fundraising here?
Starting point is 00:03:27 But anyway, he's out fundraising and he's at so-and-so producer of friends, you know, and all I ever think of is where's the traffic? Where's the traffic? Street closures. Where's the traffic? How's this going to fuck with me? I don't give a fuck that he's here. I don't care what he's doing.
Starting point is 00:03:47 I know there's a bunch of Hollywood guys jacking off over there. Fine. Let him do it. fucking away These guys need more money Is that the problem I mean they gotta raise They got to raise funds
Starting point is 00:04:00 Politicians are there yeah So they can do What Get elected and snap in action All right so He's over And he's at the producers I'm thinking all right
Starting point is 00:04:12 Producer good That means west side You know Hopefully the palisades Keep it as fucking far away From my commute Is possible But no
Starting point is 00:04:20 No no And Drew, your instincts yell, but no. I won't. You already did. Our horrible comedic instincts. Now, but you shall take them to the grave. Now, my plan, it'll be chronicled in my new book, President Me. President Me?
Starting point is 00:04:39 President Me. President Me. Okay. That's right. My new plan, and look, people think I'm fucking kidding about all this shit. I'm not kidding about any of this shit. I don't care who's coming. to the Southland with the worst fucking traffic in the world.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Obama must have made three trips over here, at least during the last campaign, to hang out with Clooney and talk golf. Cleeney's Italy. He doesn't belong to this country anymore. No, he came to, like, Clooney's house to do a fundraiser. What is is, is Hollywood celebrities all like to fucking do a circle jerk where he comes. They host a party. They come, whatever, by the way. Here's what I love, too.
Starting point is 00:05:19 You guys worried about food and security? You have a big Bel Air place, valet parking, $10,000 a plate, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Where's that money going? To the hungry kids? Or is it going to this guy's war chest? It's going to get reelected. You really care about the hungry kids? How about do you have Obama swing by?
Starting point is 00:05:42 $10,000 a plate? All the money goes to the hungry kids. Ever think of that? Super rich people? hypocrites in Bel Air? Or is the money just going to the guy who's already rich? Interesting. Interesting how you choose to raise your money and what you do with it.
Starting point is 00:05:57 But all right. But don't worry when he gets elected, no more hungry kids. Right. Super easy. They're now hungry and more obese, so lose-lose. But he's going to come by. And my plan is this, Drew. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:12 And I'm not kidding. L.A. is a fucking mess. You have to close the streets. you have to close the freeways, you have to do everything else. You fucking stay on Westwood one. You stay on Air Force One. You stay on Air Force One. You park it in the official hangar.
Starting point is 00:06:31 We do the thing in the hangar? Do the party there? Everyone gets to go on Air Force One. The people would pay $10,000 a plate to go to Clooney's house. Don't go there. They go to a hangar in LAX. No street closures. No freeways.
Starting point is 00:06:46 No zigzaggy. CHP cop shutting the freeways down. You will lay out a red carpet. We'll put out a nice buffet. We'll have it catered. Babs will be there singing. We'll have the whole night laid out. And at a certain point, yeah, you'll go to a hangar, an exclusive hangar.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Security will be much easier. Walk through a metal detector. Go to a thing. All self-contained. When the evening is done, Obama never left the plane. He just buckles back up and they take off. Go back to Washington. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Huh? Except. Or Pebble Beach. Except. It'll be the Burbank Airport or the Van Nuys Airport. No. No. It's LAX.
Starting point is 00:07:26 It would be LAX. It's, it's, I don't think Burbank or VanEyes. You can take a 747. I don't think so. I don't think so. I've never seen one in and out of there. Maybe Van Nuys alone. But the point is, there you go.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Parks. Who wouldn't want a tour of Air Force One? I mean, most the people, who are at Clooney's house have been to Clooney's house before. They've shot hoops with Clooney over at his house before. Now, Obama's there. But they've never been on Air Force One. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:58 There's a story, right? All self-contained, no traffic problems. And saves millions of dollars because there's no... Just see if you can take care of Clickett or ticket. Just you get those signs changed. Then I'll believe you'll get Air Force One to us. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Either way, I'm driving here. And they're going to be at the producer's house of friends. and okay, where's that? And then they tell it's in, you know, Hancock Park. It's on the west side. Bel Air, whatever. Whatever. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Whatever. And I think to myself, good. Let them just fucking grind the city to a halt on that side of the hill. I wonder how much economic, what the economic cost is of everything grinding. Who cares? It's the little people. They can fucking go around. Wait in line.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Go around. Whatever. Doesn't matter. They're not us. then he says then he's heading over to glendale the dream works to talk to them is that right up the street here that's it new that's up the street yeah and i was like i'm doing one of those things i got of a sitcom where i'm driving it's like uh he's hollywood types good enjoy enjoy enjoy your your fucking traffic enjoy your street clothes and then he's going over to adam's place and i was like oh and he's coming here right now
Starting point is 00:09:12 No. Right now. Yes. And as I was coming here, they're already fucking closing off the 134 freeway. Oh. Yes. There you go. No.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Now, what was that? Gary flashed me up on the screen there. I thought it was hallucinating. What was that Love Our Country Tour? Yes. Adams hosting an event and it's at the Reagan. It's at the Reagan Library. What that F?
Starting point is 00:09:38 So they have Reagan's Air Force One there and you can go on it. I want to see the details. I'm going to go to this thing. By the way, this is our 100th episode. Congratulations. Anyway. Same to you. All right. I was going to get you something.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I'm going to host this event. It's December 15th. It's the Air Force One Pavilion at the Reagan Library in Seamy Valley and Kevin Costner and his band's going to be playing there. And for tickets and information. We should do like a podcast from it, shouldn't we? For tickets and information. There's always something. after that. You'll never hear
Starting point is 00:10:14 for tickets or information who's online three? For tickets and information, you and Ray ought to fucking go to the same academy. For tickets and information, go to www.w-div-div-d-d-d-wobloav-our-country.com. For me, I get to meet Kevin Costner and I get to go on Air Force One.
Starting point is 00:10:38 Yeah, and that library is very cool. Never been there, and I certainly never been Air Force One. But see, the mountain will come to Mohammed in this case. I'm going to Air Force One, and this is the way Obama should do these fundraisers. Have all the happy people over at DreamWorks get a tour of Air Force One. I'm sure they've seen their own
Starting point is 00:10:56 cafeteria enough. Yes. All right. Thoughts, Drew. What's going on? I got a lot of weird little thoughts. Did you see all the JFKs? First of all, I'm exhausted. I had to pick my daughter up at the airport last night. On the way home, freeway closures. Right. No warning. Yes. And then circa 6.30 a.m. My wife's sick. She's kind of not sleeping well. You're snoring.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Oh, you're snow. She told her you're snoring. Yeah. So did not go back to sleep. So I got four hours of sleep. That's fantastic. All the JFK stuff. Yes. All the JFK stuff. Did you get into any of that stuff? Did you find it interesting? I don't have as much reverence for him as other people do. Well, funny you would say that because somebody sent me a, there's sort of a synopsis of his medical records out there now, he was not, I'm psychiatrically a well man at all. I mean, he may have been a good leader and whatever and good administrator, but here's how I put together
Starting point is 00:11:55 what I read. At a young age, very somatically preoccupied, lots of bowel problems and back problems and physical problems. That's a psychological thing when people get like that. Now, when you're a special person, you're the son of Joe Kennedy, you get special attention. You get special attention. Well, guess what? Now he's getting aggressive treatments for ulcerative colitis and for his back diseases. They start injecting him with high doses of corticostero steroids, which right around then was thought to, can I tell you this whole story? It's kind of interesting. I'm interested. Gary, you can find the 60 Minutes story of his young intern girlfriend and some of the beats on that. I think it aired about a year ago. Yeah, she came out about what happened.
Starting point is 00:12:42 But go ahead. You tell your story. And this sort of more on that same line. High doses of corticosteroid prednisone, which at the time was on the cover of Life magazine, the miracle drug. We didn't know all the side effects. It shuts down your adrenal gland. And it causes a weakening of the bones and osteoporosis. Fast forward three years.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Oh, my God, he has Addison's disease. His adrenals are shut down and he has osteoporosis from all the shit everyone was giving him. Right. Now they start putting him on more. more steroids to cover for the adrenal insufficiency, which is all bullshit. He did not have Addison. They couldn't make a proper diagnosis back then. Did not have it.
Starting point is 00:13:22 He probably did have osteoporosis. Now they start doing back operations, which are the latest thing. We've got to go. A special son of Joe Kennedy, we've got to do something. They put in hardware. It gets infected. They have to take it out. He has abscess.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Now he has a real reason for pain. Now guess what's going on? Now it's game on with the pain meds. Full game on. long-term polyopiates, injections of demoral. Now he's weak and tired from all this for the pain meds and steroids.
Starting point is 00:13:49 They put him on testosterone and stimulants and amphetamines. I mean, he was on so much shit. And this was when there was great enthusiasm about all this stuff in the medical community and not an understanding of the psychiatric consequences and the nature of addiction and somatizing. I mean, this is a really seriously ill psychiatric case. Well, it's psychological problems meets what's called iatrogenesis, which is doctor-created illness.
Starting point is 00:14:16 And he was opposed to child. I can't believe the dude function, let alone, you know, it's amazing that he was able to get through and administrate and do the things he did. Well, they probably had the alcoholic gene, which lets you do that. Yeah. I, you know, maybe I'm just a huge douche. But first off, you know, when they turn and. Jackie Kennedy's always, you know, she's a hero to everyone, too. I don't, you know, she married the richest man on the planet when after this. She lived in semi-seclusion. I'm sure she did
Starting point is 00:14:53 her fair share of charitable work. Mainly there were a really good-looking couple, which I think everyone responded to. I don't know that she did any more good than Eleanor Roosevelt, but yet she looked so good and so young and there's a lot of talk about her white house and how she redecorated. She did. It's true. She did do a lot of stuff there. But what difference that make?
Starting point is 00:15:20 She paid. We paid for somebody to redecorate her white house. She brought a vibrance, a youth, and a sense of hope. Like, that doesn't mean shit to me. Right. I don't know what that is. You know, she carried herself with such a dignity. You know, like, all right.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Down at 50 cents. Right. I want to hear some. I'm going to hear some stats. You know, for me, everything, this is why I love the meritocracy of sports. You know what I mean? It's like, this young point guard carries himself with so much dignity on that court. He brings a sense of hope to the team and the fans.
Starting point is 00:15:54 It's like, I want to see a shooting percentage. I want to see what he's like outside of the three-point arc. I just want to see some numbers. Oh, forget about, no, no, no. Don't get focused on that. Look at him in that uniform. Striking, isn't he? Look at that jawline.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Let's be fair. It's the martyrdom of the whole thing. You know, the fact that he was shot was the way created the myth, right? No. No, no, I'm talking it. No, I don't think it was Rock Center. Maybe it was Rock Center. I thought it was a 60 Minutes report about the woman that had an affair with Kennedy, one of the many. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:27 And by that, that goes along with the addict stuff. Gary's saying no. You put in the chick's name. You put in JFK Intern Affair. You put all that with 60 Minutes and you get nothing. But if you put her name in, it comes up with a rock center. Special edition with Ryan Williams. Oh, the special edition of Roxanne.
Starting point is 00:16:41 All right. Sorry, my bad. But then, you know, the sexual compulsion and sexual addiction stuff goes along with the somatizing, goes along with the opi. Right. So anyway, back to whatever. Look, I don't know some presidents did better than other presidents. He's revered. I, you know, I think from the grave, he has like a 97% approval rating.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I remember people not being happy with him when he was in office. Well, I don't remember any of that. I just remember he was young. He looked good. And when young, good-looking people die and young, good-looking couples get torn apart that way, that way. In terms of what he did as a president, I wasn't born. I know this Cuban Missile Crisis. I think I like the way handled that.
Starting point is 00:17:26 There things his brother did. Did I like? What's that? It's hard to believe. Given the condition he was in what I was reading about, it's like how to get through that. But, you know, watch. this this
Starting point is 00:17:40 rock central thing this business 30 rock whatever it is Brian Williams thing interviewing his intern
Starting point is 00:17:52 I mean it was coming out now where she was like yeah I was 19 oh it's Meredith Fiera did it I was 19 and
Starting point is 00:18:04 I was you know fresh I was coming from this college. She could have been 18, you know, or I don't know, maybe she was 20. I can't remember. Well, well, let's hear little bits and pieces of it. Gary will put it together. She was 19. She went to the White House. The president sort of called her into the next room and kind of basically started banging her at the White House. But then at a certain point, she started telling these stories where it's like, oh, yeah, we would spend hours down in the pool together. And there'd be president, his brother, whoever would be down there. And then there was this, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:39 fat old bald guy who is, you know, Secretary of Commerce or something. And, you know, he told me to go over there and perform oral on him, you know, while we watched, essentially like in the pool. Whoa. I'm the fat old guy. Yeah. Again, I'm sort of paraphrasing, but there's a point where not only is the president banging the 19-year-old who he just started, you know, weeks earlier at the White House, while he's the president of the White House, they used to like to go down of the pool and play a little grab ass and all the dudes are sort of swimming in the pool. Simpler
Starting point is 00:19:15 times, man. And he sort of says like, hey man, four days into four days into her internship. He was fucking her. And then... Poor thing or have sex with other guys. That's... Yeah, like to watch, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:29 just wanted to see if she could swim across the pool and go to the wets who was sitting on the steps over there and suck him off. I swear, I, we'll find it. I don't know if it was a brother or there was a few dudes that he was sort of... Does she feel? You know, when the President United States...
Starting point is 00:19:46 What does she say now about it? She should be pissed. You can't judge. You can't. Oh, here, let's go. Let's watch. JFK's intern. It adds another surprising and disturbing layer to John F. Kennedy's presidential portraits.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I don't think what I did at 19. I don't... It was bad. Well, she's crying. You know, the 19-year-old was all right. she was there was nothing wrong with me well that's bullshit crying like that
Starting point is 00:20:15 I know I'm remembering how enthusiastic I was and how much fun I was to be with I wasn't after anything I wasn't after job I wasn't after imagine if this is Richard Nixon he's just a young girl almost 50 years later it's still difficult for
Starting point is 00:20:29 60 year old media Alfred to talk about this story just came and went most mornings when I woke up I thought I don't want to get up and write this book I want to hide under the covers In her new book Once Upon a Secret, she reveals the explicit details of what she says was an 18-month affair with President John F. Kennedy. Her secret was first revealed in 2003, when historian Robert Dallick wrote in his biography of JFK that a tall, slender, beautiful White House intern, was rumored to be among the president's many paramours. The revelation prompted inevitable...
Starting point is 00:21:04 You can get to the swimming pool park because this thing's an hour long. If you can find it, find it. It's 30, you know, this thing's, I don't know, 30 minutes and it's halfway in or whatever. But, oh, yeah. You can't judge. No, let's judge. Listen, I judge. I just go, that's not a great guy, you know.
Starting point is 00:21:26 So you can do all you want. Like, look, I'm fine with- Bordering on sociopathy this shit. It really is. This, and I, look. But here's what I'm trying to say, Drew. Here's what I'm trying to say. It's so funny, we didn't know we're going to have this conversation.
Starting point is 00:21:41 No. No. Michael Jordan has a gambling addiction. Yeah. Or had a gambling addiction. And many of the greats have had addictions and done things behind their wives and just stepped out. Whatever. Run-ins with the law.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Whatever. I separate and I can separate the guy, the player on the court from this guy. Yeah. So I go, well, I really enjoy Woody. in movies, but in terms of him running off with his adopted daughter, not so hot. Not so hot. So as a man, I don't respect him.
Starting point is 00:22:18 As an artist, I respect him. And Michael Jordan, maybe I don't respect him as a man, but as a basketball player, have to respect him. Why can't we separate these things when it comes to John Kennedy? Why does he have to be the greatest and everything's a greatest and it's Camelot? It's murder. It's martyrdom. It's martyrdom. And Jackie Kennedy.
Starting point is 00:22:38 the greatest, well, first off, really, she just literally marries Onassis, the Greek tycoon, basically, the shipping magnet. I mean, she just marries, like, the richest man on the planet who's 30 years older than her. Like, that's, she was in love. Like, what? Aristotle Onassis, what was he her senior? He can find a picture of him. I mean, it wasn't like a story. strapping young.
Starting point is 00:23:08 No, no. He was at least 30 or 4 years older, a lot older. It just fat and good look. I mean, fat and rich, right? Like, well, so she just married the next richest guy? She could find? Like, I, I, look, people have, it's sacrilege to speak this way. They're human beings.
Starting point is 00:23:32 They have their faults. I don't know if to be turned into deities. Right. That both are turned into deity. We can find out when they married or when they met or whatever what their ages were and how what he was on the Forbes list of richest men, whatever. What do they marry? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:52 There's a lot of stuff that Gary's looking for. You tell me. You get rid of – I don't need to see a picture. We can just find out the math on these two. And again, so Drew, if I was just describing this behavior, is this sound – Hers? Well, first off, four days into the internship, he's banging her. No, it's reprehensible.
Starting point is 00:24:15 And they were married in 68, by the way. So four and a half years after her husband died, she's, boom. Well, that's enough time. It was one of the richest men in the world. He had to meet and court and marry. For four years. Look, he ruined this woman's life. Jackies?
Starting point is 00:24:37 No. Oh, yes, this old... Kennedy ruined her... John Kennedy, yeah. Ruined. Yes, he had been severely exploited and abused her. Severely.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Mm-hmm. He offered her a $3 million trust to replace her Kennedy trust. She would lose upon his death. Who? No, upon his death, I'm sorry, I'm not typing fast enough. Upon his death, she would receive it... Whose death? Her husband, Aristotle.
Starting point is 00:25:05 upon his death she would receive another settlement of 26 million uh she received yeah and uh you and 150k each year for the rest of her life this is what they were yeah this was the arrangement before she married the old guy right right now if you just if this is one of your wife's friends what would you be saying hero you know what i mean camelot well you would you would go oh she was so disturbed by the the death of her husband she's never recovered and she's making bad decisions You know, I can say that. Bad decisions is slamming heroin, not finding the richest guy I can find his 20 years older than being just marrying him. Look, I'm not here to fucking shit on that.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Oh, right. So we'll find out some of that information. You'll be deeply disturbed by some of the JFK antics as far as the 19-year-old who, again... It's really disturbing. I mean, it's so disturbing. Well, this woman was sort of ruined psychologically. by what he'd done. What happened to her after that?
Starting point is 00:26:08 What's in the piece? Well, you can see her crying. What's she doing? I love the way. She's like, I'm fine. It was great. I'm fine. She's in love with the president.
Starting point is 00:26:17 She's living, you know, she's in the White House having sex with JFK. Like, again, this is at least a bad, bad decision making. And again, I'm not the guy. I don't say, look, I judge you because you. have sinned. I'm more like if this is your process, like if you cannot control yourself. Well, how about appreciate that other people have feelings and that you're affecting them? And by the way, I don't mind him. I can see him banging the 19-year-old as part of the overall addiction and all his somatizing. And so that all kind of goes together for me. But when you say go across
Starting point is 00:26:57 the pool and blow that guy, now we're into some weird shit. Put that on a loop. Well, Gary shall find that. I'm surprised. But that's, that is, but mind you, that is, that is, that graduates to a new level, you know. Let's take a phone call here. And like I said, Gary, I don't know if it was a whole hour long special or whatever it is, but it's somewhere. It's a whole hour long special, but I don't have the whole thing. So I'm having to watch these pieces all the way through. Well, hurry up, Gary.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Somewhere in the middle, if it helps. All right. Hey, Patrick. It's in the middle. Yeah. 23, Houston. It's an absolute pleasure to be speaking with both of you, Matt. I was listening to Love Line since I was, I guess, 13 and couldn't think of anybody better to get advice than the pair of you.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Thank you. So I guess the situation I'm in is I've been seeing a girl for three years. We've met in school since graduated. And two weeks ago, she initiated a conversation where she asked to take a little bit of a break from our relationship. For a number of reasons, I think, you know, we think we were getting kind of serious. I think she wasn't really necessarily sure that she was ready to continue, you know, continue moving forward with a serious commitment, like what we were potentially looking at. And secondly, and maybe more importantly, she's just begun the process of being a therapist
Starting point is 00:28:15 to help her begin grieving her mother who died two years ago. So my question for you guys is, do you think that a break is ever really a healthier, beneficial thing? There's this really just a shortcut to a breakup. What's your advice there? Well, Drew, let's talk about that. Yeah. When you're done with your phone. I'm listening.
Starting point is 00:28:36 What is the difference between a guy asking for a break and a woman asking for a break? We've never really discussed that. We know that asking for a break and citing reasons. See, again, you could say, my mother just passed. I've never needed to rely on somebody more than now. Right. Or you could go, my mother just passed. I really need time just quietly to reflect on that alone.
Starting point is 00:29:05 You know what I mean? So if you can take your fucking argument and spin it to the other way, it's total bullshit. Most people whose parents just passed or mother just passed rely more heavily on their partner. Here's a deal. The only thing you need to know, the only thing you need to know is, I don't want to be with you. That's it. Whatever follows that does not matter. It does not matter.
Starting point is 00:29:31 It's going to be temporary. It's because my mother dies. It's because my goldfish diet. It's because I'm banging somebody else. Whatever it is, I don't want to be with you is all you need to know, turn and run. Period. Period. I agreed.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Agreed. You're only asking for misery to drag it out. Agreed. But you and I spoke before earlier episodes where we were both in relationships and we needed to be on our own. We needed to go out and sew our wild oats sort of speak. Yes, but I didn't know if I was coming back. Maybe I, but I couldn't think that way. All I knew is I needed to go.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Right. And for the other person, they need to get on with things to protect themselves, not weight, not pine, not doing it. It's too painful. Maybe they'll come back, maybe they won't. You can't be concerned with that. You've got to move on. All right. And here's what I always say, and I was just thinking about this recently as it pertains to almost
Starting point is 00:30:28 anything in life. you need to be as productive as you can possibly be, no matter how much pain you're in, or how much you grieve the loss of this relationship or whatever it is, you can't go into a fetal position. So you need to, because at some point, Patrick, you will look back and go, man, I was really hurting that year. That was a tough year for me. I really miss.
Starting point is 00:30:53 I think I should clarify. I may have misspoken, but her mother didn't just die recently. It was two years ago, and she had kind of compartmentalized a lot of that and just begun speaking it back. Well, then sorry. We take everything back. I take it all back. We didn't know. You're struggling to make it not so.
Starting point is 00:31:11 She does not want to be with you now. That's all you need to know. She does not want to be with you. There are, if you would like to continue the relationship with her, there's only one way to do it, which is tell her you respect her decision. and you know, you have my phone number and I'm moving on. Yeah. And when you magically have another girlfriend, magically you'll be a much more interesting to her, magically. Right.
Starting point is 00:31:37 But you'll magically be more likely to get your next girlfriend if you focus on career, physical fitness. You know, those light beer commercials, Murman's mountain bike riding, that's you. Live your life like either a mountain bike, a light beer commercial. Everyone should live their life like either that or a herpes commercial. Let's not let herpes slow you down. So either wind surfing on wheat? Well, in that with the herpes commercials? It's usually a woman alone in a blimp hanger with a ring in the middle that's being lit by one single light and her training kickboxing.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I don't know where this gym is or how it stays afloat. What do we do? We have one member. Where are you guys at? We're at Santa Monica Airport. or in the Blimp Hanger? How many members do you have? Just as one chick who has herpes?
Starting point is 00:32:31 But man, she fights. What's the membership? $18 a month. Wow, I just don't know how this works financially. All right. Do you watch Boardwalk Empire? No. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Oh, my God, you have to. I command you. I insist. Have you not watched any of it? No. Oh, I'm so jealous. I don't want to be swept away. Well, the reason I thought of is that the
Starting point is 00:32:55 the beer commercial reminded me of a guy that's in the show. It's one of the best characters. It's in a recurrent sort of beer commercial. And something happens to him at the end of this season. So I'm just saying. Wait a minute. What the fuck are you talking about? It paints this a vivid picture with your tongue.
Starting point is 00:33:11 What are you talking about? It's a guy in a beer commercial. It's a guy in a beer commercial who plays a very important character. A guy in what beer commercial? Gary help me. I know you're looking for someone. No, leave Gary alone. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:33:23 I think it's a Mickelope commercial. I remember right, or Michael of Light or something. He's a famous beer actor? He's a recurrent sort of nice-looking guy that is in this beer commercial. That take, that we can see on TV now. Yes, and if you're a Boardwalk Empire fan, you recognize him. Oh, you would recognize him from this. Boardwalk, Amber.
Starting point is 00:33:41 He plays an important character who had his face blown off. Oh, okay. And he looks very different in the beer commercial, a very nice-looking man. I said. And he's one of the, probably one of the most interesting characters, to my estimation, like the history of television. I mean, really, it's extremely accurately done. And something happens to him in the end of the season. All right.
Starting point is 00:34:02 So I don't. Got it now? Yeah. Did I paint it? No, you know what? The thing about commercials is we grew up with, you know, where's the beef? You know, we grew up with, I can't believe I ate the whole thing. You know, all this kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Now they just, they don't have that anymore. No slogan. No, no. But it's like people TiVo, they fast forward. There's too many. Those guys, everyone knew, like they would say, even as far back as got milk. Oh, it would be got everything. All right, here's the young lady who was 19 and an intern in the White House explaining what went on in the swimming pool.
Starting point is 00:34:44 He had been guilty of an unforgivable episode at the White House pool during one of our noonday swims at the end of the summer. Dave Powers was sitting poolside while the president and I swam lazy circles around each other. The president swam over and whispered in my ear. Mr. Powers looks a little tense, he said. Would you take care of it? It was a dare. He's a hero, don't you? But I knew exactly what he meant.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Take care of it? That was a challenge to give Dave Powers oral sex. I don't think the president thought I'd do it. But I'm ashamed to say that I did. It was pathetic, a sordid scene. Dave was jolly and obedient as I stood in the shallow end of the pool and performed my duties. The president silently watched. Makes me angry.
Starting point is 00:35:39 It does. Anyway, here I can't judge. Wait, wait, what does she say? What makes you angry because? Because I didn't just splash water in the president's face and tell him to get lost. And it makes you sad because? It makes me sad because I did it. She's blaming herself.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I think I wanted to please the president. I find it appalling. Why would... Who's that? Who's he? I can't fucking know everyone on TV. She's invested in the character. The point is this.
Starting point is 00:36:11 It didn't come up a lot during the 50th anniversary. I judge. I really do. I just think that's a moral behavior. It goes to another level. But I'm not a really. religious person. I just go, that's not a guy. Forget the religion. I don't respect that.
Starting point is 00:36:28 That's just psychologically, psychologically, that's somebody without a, their moral, their ability to judge right and wrong, it affects on other people. All that's off. It's off. Yeah, plus the noonday swim. When we got to get in on that noon day swim? Makes the golfing look like, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Wow. What happened to running countries? I don't know how it goes. The whole judge not now. I mean, ask not, which you're. It's right.
Starting point is 00:36:55 It has a whole new meaning to it for me. All right. Please, Aristotle Onassis, his age and Jackie Kennedy's age. They're 23 years apart. And they married five years after the assassination. But she was and he was. That would be interesting. But 23 years apart.
Starting point is 00:37:11 She's probably about 35. It could have been. And, you know, they all went 60-year-olds. And I don't know if he was one of the top 10 richest men on the planet at the time. You could figure that one out, too. but he was 62. 62. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:29 A spry, 62. A spry. Look at those big, fat, thick glass. A youthful. Hornroom glasses. And you know how much young, especially. You know how much young women are attracted to guys who are in shipping? Especially with old fat guys in shipping.
Starting point is 00:37:48 They love it. It can't resist. Guys with thick glasses are in a shipping. So an aphrodisiac. It wasn't about the money. They have a love of container movement. They didn't have those kind of containers then. They just love the shipping.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Yeah. Mm-hmm. Longshoreman. That's right. All right. Oh, Lord. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Now I know. Talk to Morella. We're all dicks. But that's just the way I approach life. Being a dick. I don't, you know, look, everyone says, you know, we're all God's creatures and no one is above this and you're not supposed to look at that and this person any more differently and every child, no child left behind.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Okay, let's do that with the Kennedys. Let's do that with everybody. Sure. We're judging them on, there's checks and balances. There's things they did where you go, okay, that's a good thing. And then there are things they did where you go, okay, that's a bad thing. Aren't we allowed to do that? That's what I'm doing.
Starting point is 00:38:50 And when I hear about this sort of behavior, it troubles. me. You know what's weird? People love to tear down Abraham Lincoln. They love to like oh, he slept in a bed with her, you know, the man and not even as a sense of tearing him down, a sense of that trying to unearth his human qualities. By the way, he had a paranoid preoccupation
Starting point is 00:39:09 with syphilis. Lincoln had some real serious shit going on. He was depressive. He was on mercury and made it more depressing bipolar quality. He never did shit like this. Yeah. Ever. To be fair,
Starting point is 00:39:23 I think they had a pond. At the White House back then, it would have been a pond. Mud pit. Yes, yes. That's true. Swam. Marilla? Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:35 What's up? Yeah, that's a street in North Hollywood that was right next to my house. Speaking of swimming in the pool, somewhere else in the bathtub or something. It's going on, baby girl. Yeah, I am actually in the bathtub. See? Mm-hmm. Well, I have a situation.
Starting point is 00:39:51 I have a married couple of a bar, and... Can't hear you. Oh, I'm sorry. Is that any better? Yep. Okay. I met a married couple at a bar, and they introduced me to a friend of theirs, and we all went back to their place to hang out.
Starting point is 00:40:06 And, you know, I hooked up with the guy that they introduced me to. And then the husband brought me into the bedroom, and the wife really didn't want to do anything. Told you to blow the secretary's stay? Basically. It's distracting her in the drain, empty the bath. Well, you must be good looking. Unattractive people don't act this way.
Starting point is 00:40:31 I like to say so. I mean... Sure. Okay. I'd be pretty well. But basically, like, eight days, so afterwards, you know, I got text message from these people, and you said, you know, it takes seven to ten days for incubation of gunneria, and you gave it to us, and you said that you were clean.
Starting point is 00:40:53 I, you know, test frequently. Ghanaria, did you say? Wait, wait, wait. Yeah. Say that again? It was like eight days later. Yes. And they text me all this information about gonorrhea,
Starting point is 00:41:05 and they said it takes seven to ten days for it to show. And they said they started getting symptoms on the eighth day. And, you know, it was two weeks later when they text me, but they said they started getting symptoms on the eighth day. Right. And basically said that I gave it to all. And since then I've been tested twice And it's not true.
Starting point is 00:41:27 I mean, I don't have anything. Here's what typically happens. Typically, the guy gets a non-gonacoccal urethritis. And the formal testing isn't done. They tell the guy, hey, either have gonorrhea, chlamydia, or NGU. And treatment's pretty much all the same. So we're going to put you on something. And then you notify all your partners that they may have something like this.
Starting point is 00:41:47 And then the patient here is gonorrhea. And they freak out about it and focus on the gonorrhea. But it's, they just arbitrarily, you know, you had either chlamydia or non-gonocococcal, some non-conicoccal infection. And he got a bacterial thing in his urethra. And that's what happens when you have my unprotected sex. True. Could you imagine if your wife was at home and you're like, I'm going to go hit the pool. I'm going to hit the pool.
Starting point is 00:42:11 I'm going to swim, lazy. Just imagine, well, now somebody would be like with the phone. We'd like, look at him swimming around the 19-year-old. Jackie must have been out of town or something. But still, I'm going to hit the pool noon. I couldn't imagine. I literally couldn't imagine doing that to my family. Literally.
Starting point is 00:42:29 I mean, I couldn't just the thought of that behavior, how disturbing it would be to them. You know? Yeah, your kids are in the house somewhere. And that's me not president. Now, me president, I'd be like, oh, shit, what's the country think of this bullshit? I would never, you know, I would never behave like that, right?
Starting point is 00:42:46 It is insane to me. But at different times. As opposed to, hey, man, on the president, I can do what fuck I want. Which is really that's what that attitude is. Of course. Yeah. So what do you do?
Starting point is 00:42:57 Well, I'm just wondering, is that possible? Do you didn't hear anything I said, did you? No, but she's good-looking. I did, but are you saying that I did have something, even though I had to- You had something? You did not have gonorrhea. Oh, okay. I see what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:43:12 So what are you doing? You're single? Yeah. You having fun out there? Yeah, you know. Do you want to swim laps with you? You keep saying you. You keep saying you put somewhere in a pond in a swamp.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Lazy circles. You do, you know the guys like you, right? Right, right. So when you go into a bar or a restaurant or out to a club or something on a Saturday night, you know, they're into you, right? Right. I mean, I don't bring any money with me and I always have a good time. Right. And that's, that's code for I.
Starting point is 00:43:47 No, but how, you know, as we've said, Drew and I, hold on. a second. Drew and I've talked about this all the time. Like, what would you, she's a little bit older than we're when we were talking about this before. But 25. What would you do with that power? Oh, yeah. When you're telling your daughter, hey, don't, you know, hey, hit the books. Don't go out and use that power. It's like saying to a guy, oh, you could pick up a Buick with one arm, but don't do it. Don't do it. Yeah. Don't let him just don't do it. Like any fucking young man would be like, are you kidding? I'm going to challenge everyone to a fight. I'm going to find the biggest guy I can find
Starting point is 00:44:24 on every street corner, just fucking go up and tell him he looks like a pussy. It's going to be great. You know, like, how do you tell the hot Morella, you know, listen, this is going to end up with some, you know, you're going to get venereal disease and a broken, or maybe you get pregnant, you know what I mean? Like, stay in and folks on your
Starting point is 00:44:41 career. You know what I mean? Like, she has, she goes out. You got to start early on that one. There's no club that she doesn't. You have to literally cultivate a taste for, you know what you have to literally cultivate a taste for something. She goes to a club. She doesn't have to wait in line. Yeah, I know. Morale, you don't have to wait in line, right? No. I know the bounces. Yeah. And they know you. And even if they don't know you, they'll see you coming.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Yeah. And you dress to the nines. But do you go out with your friends? Sometimes that particular night I always by myself. But, you know, it depends. A lot of my friends, my age are, you know, getting married and we already have a kid. and, you know, it's just I'm not ready to settle down. Are you looking to hook up every time you go out? No, but, you know, sometimes it's the moment's right, and I want to do it, and I just do. That's that power. Mm-hmm. Yeah, man, when the whib strikes me, man.
Starting point is 00:45:37 I don't have to worry about it. You'll decide how it works, and if there's a guy, he's never going to say no, right? Right. I mean, usually, if anything, no. you know, and going with the other one, you know, something like that. Huh? She'll flip over to his friend. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:55 You know, if somebody has to marry to say no. I see. If somebody dares say no, he'll show him. I see. Good. And now what do you do for a living? I'm the bartender, actually, at another club. Oh.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Well, there you go. Yeah. It's, listen. Hot chicks, there's never, there's no such thing that's out of work. You know what I mean? The other thing, imagine, it's sort of similar to going down to the pool. I'm calling a radio show from the bathtub. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:25 And then I pull the plug when it's time to, like, talk to you guys. But there's no such thing as a good-looking, strapping 19-year-old Adam Carolla going, you know, I'm going to bang Margaret Thatcher. Fuck that chick. I'm going to fuck her in the pool. Like, if I showed up at whatever Downing Street, they just go, what the fuck? are you doing here? Get out of here. Right?
Starting point is 00:46:52 Literally, being a hot 19 year old, you fuck the president of the United States and have him, you know, send you some flowers and give you some chocolates. I mean, as you get into the story, there were plenty of times when he would put her up at the plaza and meet her there
Starting point is 00:47:08 and, you know, send over a bottle of champagne. Could you imagine that, you want to talk about power? This is the most powerful man in the world. It's a substitute for power. It's an abortive power. It's a perception.
Starting point is 00:47:23 Oh, I'm in control of the president. No, no, no. He's exploiting you. He's shitting on you. By the way, Jackie was left 426 million cash and security. 50 ships in the Olympic Tower in New York. And they're, huh? No.
Starting point is 00:47:43 No, wrong guy. No, that's what his estate had in it. She didn't get everything in the estate. Oh, she didn't get all of it. You were asking for his wealth. No, I just want to know where he ranked up there. Yeah, I'm sure this is the best I could find so far. I'm sure he was tough to take.
Starting point is 00:47:57 People used to talk about it. And I remember all this. I was aware then. As this is the richest man in the world. One of the richest man in the world was constantly what was said. Right. Yeah. Now, she was set for life anyway, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:48:11 So, and I'm sure she may have liked the old Greek guy with the boats. but I don't know. You probably would have rather dug a 39-year-old dude. It was an architect. But, you know, that's what you did back then. And that's what he did back then. And that's fine, but let's not turn everyone into deities. That's all.
Starting point is 00:48:34 Let's just be realistic about the people they were. Yes? Be realistic. This is Corolla Digital.
