The Adam and Dr. Drew Show - Classic #1531: You're Ashamed of Your Cowardice, Now Go Live With It Pt. 2

Episode Date: June 5, 2025

Adam and Dr. Drew open the show discussing the ‘stepping down’ of Jeff Zucker from CNN and what the reality of that story might be as opposed to the narrative that CNN itself is painting.... They also discuss the impending Super Bowl being hosted at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and the mask mandate coming with it, as they try to explore what other stadiums have similar mandates in place. They then turn to the phones and speak with a caller who wants to discuss and expand upon Adam’s ‘death of math’ theory. They also talk to a caller who recently experienced a heightened level of wokeness he wants to discuss.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Starting point is 00:00:00 So this is part two of that show in February 2022. And of course, we go to the phones and we speak with the caller who wants to discuss and expand the death of math. We talked to a caller who experienced a heightened level of wokeness he wanted to discuss. And again, that's so-fi discussion. Pay attention to that because we later, I don't think it's in this episode, but we later, uh, get a load of the guy who's enforcing the mask mandate and man, uh, we get a meal out of that for the next three years. So enjoy. Better help. Well, the show is sponsored by better help.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Look, uh, there's a stigma surrounding mental health care, especially for men. I think men feel like they're supposed to be stoic and have that face, that warrior face all the time. Well, men today face immense pressure to perform, to provide, to keep it all together. So it's no wonder that six million men in the US suffer from depression every year, and it's often undiagnosed. Yep, always been a fan of therapy. My partner Drew always has been as well. Super important
Starting point is 00:01:13 because when you get that working everything else kind of falls in line. With over 35,000 therapists, BetterHelp is the world's largest online therapy platform, having served over 5 million people globally. It's convenient too. You can join a session with a therapist at the click of a button, helping you fit therapy into your busy life. Plus, switch therapists anytime. It's BetterHelp, right Daphne?
Starting point is 00:01:43 As the largest online therapy provider in the world better help can provide access to mental health Professionals with a diverse variety of expertise talk it out with better help our listeners get 10% off their first month at better help.com Adam and drew that's better help.com Adam and drew Alright drew you want to talk to Pablo on there? Let's know about the death of math. Yes, scream about yes 10 seconds Pablo 32 San Marcos, Texas Pablo
Starting point is 00:02:14 Me ho me ho Hey, how's it going guys always always good to say hello and there was something I was thinking about that your comment about the death math to say hello and there was something I was thinking about that your comment about the death mass. I was hearing some talking points from a front of a show where Jordan Peterson, now he was talking about the death of categories and that's usually preceded the implosion of societies. And then I want to just hear your thoughts if maybe part of the solution is invoking the 10th amendment, which is going back to the individual rights that the powers are not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by to the states,
Starting point is 00:02:52 or reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. Or the 14th Amendment's another one. The 10th and the 14th, that was sort of, that's the Civil Rights Code essentially, the first civil rights. And when you read that, I ended up going back and I'll read the tenth again too thank you for that but I started thinking wow they're just they're just loosey-goosey with these these these amendments they're violating
Starting point is 00:03:15 them all over the place and I think that it's all become because everything's relative and nothing exists the Constitution does really you know what I mean it's like... It's a living, breathing, fluid document that is open to whatever my interpretation is. It's very weird. We're gonna get some Supreme Court justices to think like I think. I told you that this all goes back... I told you this on the phone the other day, that this hearkens back to the 80s and 90s for me.
Starting point is 00:03:45 And what I noticed was, obviously I noticed the narcissistic turn, that we were admitting only narcissists, but within the narcissistic turn, there was a large body of women developing borderline personality disorders, or at least being identified as such. And the one thing I noticed about these women that we were admitting is to a person, like every one of them had a minimum of 20 lawsuits under their belt.
Starting point is 00:04:13 And I thought, oh my God, the legal system is just amplifying their borderline features and allowing them to act out their unregulated aggression through the legal system. And the attorneys loved it because they could make money and they could just recklessly sue. But that group now has found their way into leadership and into all kinds of positions. Great. Good for them, but they're still... No, not good for society.
Starting point is 00:04:40 But it's still... Crazy chick think. This is what we're living in. So, I told you I was talking to Bill Maher a couple days ago. And one of the things he asked me, and what do we do, and I said, we've got to start acting like adults. And he very pointedly asked me, he goes, well, what do you mean?
Starting point is 00:04:55 What's the adult? What does that mean? And I want to think about it some more, because it is a very appropriate question, I think. But the first thing that occurred to me is like, you have to say no, a lot. Like the easiest thing in the world with drug addicts, just give them their drugs,
Starting point is 00:05:10 they'll be the best, happiest patients you ever saw. They will die, but it's easy and it's good. When you start saying no, then the work begins. And you have to say no to people on a lot of different subject matters, about their whims and their crazy ideas. Am I on to anything here? Well when I say say no, when I say if you're a small business stay open that just means stay open.
Starting point is 00:05:36 That's saying no. It's being an adult. You have a crazy idea but it's also I'm saying no. Like college administrators should have said no to some of the students. Should have said no to everything. Yeah., I look they said don't walk on the horse trail and I said no Is that it is it as simple as yes, just say no, it's two things say no and stop apologizing Those are the two things that'll correct everything Stop apologizing and say no look we would like you to we'd like you to close all Outdoor dining tin horn flats said no That's one business now. They're shut down with a fence around them if all businesses said no
Starting point is 00:06:11 Then there's nothing they would do and by the way, they would immediately change their policy. Hmm. That's how they work Well, they were headed they say don't go to the beach and everyone went to the beach said no We're going to the beach then there's nothing they can do about it. That's how it works. But all the cowards said yes. Well again that's all. It's cowardice but it's also being pumped horrible distorted information. Yes and there's studies about fear in groups are larger than individual fear. Right. So when you take a group...
Starting point is 00:06:49 Where'd you see that? A group... I heard it on the radio. So I'm fascinated with all that now because this has all been group... Group fear. Group fear. ...knob action. Amongst... but let's be fair, amongst people who have difficulty thinking, amongst weak thinkers.
Starting point is 00:07:05 These are weak thinkers. So let me this, so mobs have always been that way? So really the question is, are only certain times of history and certain personality constructs that predominate open to mob action like that? You know what I mean? Have we drifted into something collectively in our personalities that made us susceptible to these things? I think yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Yes. It's a little more complicated than just mobs react to fear. It's like we are prone to we are fertile soil. Well, it's like, look, you know, a group of people walk into a cave, and the group that's amongst the first to enter the cave, at some point you see them running out of the cave, screaming. If you're in the back of that line, what do you do? Your wiring is to run with them. It's not to go find out what's in the cave.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Those people don't get to extend their gene pool. And there are sort of two predominant types, again I've talked about this a lot lately, there's negative and positive bias. The positive bias are the people that are a little bit heedless and want to go investigate and live and expand and kill the mammoth. But a lot of them get killed. Yeah. And so there's a certain percentage need to stay back in the cave with the kids. Listen. I think we have too many cave dwellers right now, quite literally is what the mine look my thing is is If you would like to be a coward
Starting point is 00:08:30 That is your business But don't fucking start wagging your finger at me and don't start don't start trying to get me canceled or shut down or shamed or whatever the fuck you cowards do Because you don't want to sit and live with your own feelings or because I shame you by going outside or going on the road or doing living my life essentially don't fucking try to don't try to punish me because you're a coward do you remember and you're shame you're shame to yourself well there's another layer shame of your cowardice there's another layer to this so go live a shame if you're cowardice. There's another layer to this.
Starting point is 00:09:05 So go live with it. I will remind you, maybe 18 months, two years ago, we were saying, I think some of this is dudes that want to impress women who have a certain point of view that they learned in college and they want to get laid, and so they're going along with this. I'm hearing that millennials say things like that now.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Like they have disdain for that rather than it being sort of a trend. Does that make sense? Yeah, I guess. I don't know. Look, nothing makes sense anymore in that people have, it's the death of math. It's just what Pablo just said. People aren't able to do the math. I I started on the math week one I want to know ages ages ages ages What are the ages how old are these victims and they wouldn't put it out there? And people floated hip hippo laws First off
Starting point is 00:10:02 What's the hippo law about somebody dying in a car crash and you give their age? We get names and ages. You get the name and then you get the age right after the name. It literally seems... You guys weren't even giving the name, so why couldn't I get the age? It literally seemed uncanny. It really seemed like... To me, it seemed uncanny.
Starting point is 00:10:21 To everyone else, they were trying to explain it away. Because it was so uncanny. It was like, there's gotta be a reason. They were trying to talk me out of wanting to know what the ages were. Yes. So we didn't get the ages. No.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Well, you did later when you got their daytime activities also. Yes, he liked making balloons, animal side of balloons. He'll never do it again. Okay, we didn't get the ages. That struck me. Why?
Starting point is 00:10:51 Now, if they never gave the ages of the guy died in a motorcycle crash or the woman who died in a house fire, then I wouldn't think that way. So you didn't give me ages, then you tried to scare the kids, and that's when I knew it's when I knew was on this effort now we're going to get kids under you know by the way they they do this thing all
Starting point is 00:11:12 the time or they go on CNN and they go many parents are very anxious to get that vaccine approved because for under five year old many many many parents want to get back to normal and get their toddler vaccinated. It's like, who are these many parents you're discussing? I don't know anyone who feels like they need to get their under five year old vaccinated. Well, if they're there- Or Brian, actually, that is under five year old vaccinated. They've been fed- Or his five year old son.
Starting point is 00:11:43 They've been fed a lot of scary information that's false That's what yes in there What grandpa dying is not scary because that's what grandpa's do ten-year-olds dying is scary. Mm-hmm. So lie and focus on the kids That's this this whole thing is about age and kids. It's 100% That's what it is and moms and the death of math and guess who doesn't do the math the moms Doug This summer Pluto TV is exploding with thousands of free movies summer of cinema is here Feel the explosive action all summer long with movies like Gladiator, Mission Impossible,

Starting point is 00:12:52 How you guys doing? What's going on, Doug? Before I tell you what I called about, I actually visited LA two weeks ago. My wife's sister lives in my Bakersfield. So we went out to go to the beach for the day Two weeks ago, my wife's sister lives in Bakersfield. So we went out to go to the beach for the day. And we stopped at the rides over in Santa Monica on the pier.
Starting point is 00:13:14 And it felt kind of interesting. While we're waiting for the ride, there was this ride where the airplane goes in a circle and it's kind of small. The person in front of us had face tats with their kid. At least they were with the kid, that was nice. And when my sister's, my wife's sister's kid went on the ride, the person waiting behind us in line also had face tats and this one everywhere across her whole face was covered. And I'd say the majority of people at that pier were just
Starting point is 00:13:47 some of the scariest people I ever seen in my life. And that's not even the reason why I called. They're called Los Angeles. Come on now. San Monica Pier rivaled only by the LA Zoo in terms of scariness. The Zoo's still the scariest, pulls out all the scary people. All right, what's your question Doug? I wanted to ask like how you feel about this certain thing and what's funny is when I tell you it you're going to think it's no big deal but two years ago it was a big deal. This is right before COVID, me and my wife went on a walk and we were kind of like everything
Starting point is 00:14:18 was like wokeness was like really really in vogue before COVID. I mean still in vogue but I'd say not as prominent. But I'm walking with my wife and I made a prediction. I said, I bet it's gonna get so crazy that someone is gonna get robbed. And after the person gets robbed, they're gonna say something racist to the person that robbed them.
Starting point is 00:14:38 And there'll be more ire for the person that said the racial thing than for the robber. And about like a month ago I'm laying on the couch and I see the story about this judge where her house gets robbed and afterwards she's watching on the ring video where I guess her kids went out or her husband went out and like tackled the robber and one of her kids like shouts the n-word or something not condoning that but in somehow a video of that got leaked I'm guessing
Starting point is 00:15:05 like one of her woke kids didn't like another woke kid didn't like that might link the video and then from what I recall at the time she got suspended and I believe she got fired but please back check me on that and I guess I've been walking around my house ever since and I've been saying my wife like I can predict the future now like how am I supposed to feel about myself like I literally can predict what's going to happen next. Because it's so insane. I was wondering, like, what would you do if, like,
Starting point is 00:15:30 So far beyond that. Now every perpetrator is treated like a victim. Right. It's like, oh, well, of course the family he came from, he had never had a chance. It's like, of course he's going to start robbing people. How can we understand it any other way? And he can't afford bail, so of course there'll be no bail. And that's where we are. Yeah, well, Doug, look, you don't need a crystal ball or tea leaves or anything.
Starting point is 00:15:54 You just sort of look at where we're at, then you go back 10 years and go, where were we in there? Where are we now? Okay, I see where we're heading. Yeah, more or the same. That's all. You go, look, when Trump was talking about, look, they're gonna start removing statues of Jefferson
Starting point is 00:16:10 and Roosevelt, you don't have to be a soothsayer. They start with Confederate generals and then they move on to boulders. That's, they just keep going. Well, the just keep going part. They'll get to clouds at some point. Right, because it's progressing. Right. They just keep going. Well, the just keep going part. They'll get to clouds at some point. Right, because it's progressing.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Right. It's the progressive movement. We're digging into the story. Looks like the judge laid out the profanity as well. But we'll... That's what it is. This is a city council in Lafayette.
