Well, in this episode of the Adam and Drew throwback shows, 271 from September 2015,
we have a guest host, Jim Jeffries.
Recorded live at Corolla 1 Studios with Adam Carolla and board certified physician and addiction medicine specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky.
You're listening to The Adam and Dr. Drew Show.
Get it on. Got to get it on. No choice, but to get it on. Mandate.
Get it on.
I'm Dr. Drew.
He's Jim Jeffries.
Hello.
Adam Croll is out catching contractors.
Jim's Netflix special out now.
It's called Bear.
Get the tour dates for Jim Jeffries at Jim Jeffries.com.
And it's B-A-R-E, not B-E-A-R-R-R-E.
Well, I'm not a big, fat, hairy, homosexual man.
Which I have no problem if I was, but that's not the angle.
Originally, I wanted to call it the right to bear arms
because I do a 15-minute routine on gun control in the middle,
which is a fairly polarizing thing in this country.
And so I wanted to call it Rights to Bear Arms,
and so it was going to be like me, sleeveless,
look, you know, and then I found out that Larry the Cable Guy's album
was called The Rights of Bear Arms,
he'd already done that joke, so I couldn't do it.
Isn't that weird how comedians, you know,
comedians are channeling the, the ethos of the time.
That's a very simple joke, but you just don't.
So what they did was Netflix bring me in, and they show me four pictures of me in different concept artwork.
And one was like me sitting on the stairs.
One was like me being chased by a rather large bear.
Like a bear and me like sort of like.
And anyway, then they decided that they wanted me to be naked holding a teddy bear over my genitals.
And I was like, all right, okay, I can, I can do that, I guess.
and then I assume that someone was going to call me up
and do a photo shoot where I would be holding the teddy bear over my naked body
because they gave a mock-up picture of someone else's body
and I drove down sunset and found out that that didn't even happen
just saw my billboard
the ladies at Netflix decided that my body wasn't the right fit for their poster
or they didn't wait to see if it was or wasn't
no they just assumed whose body was it was good
I have an amazing body on this new poster
But it does look like I wax my chest, and I'm not a chest waxer.
I keep the hair on there.
You'd be a chest waxer.
I'm looking at you.
I'd wax my chest?
Yeah, you would.
For a picture?
No, you're doing in the middle of life.
You work out so much.
You must.
I don't wax my chest.
That'd be weird.
Do you shave it?
I groom, I groom, yeah.
Do you use clippers on it?
If I need to, I grew, whatever my wife asked me to do it.
Are you a genital clipper?
Not really.
You just leave your pubs to go out?
No, I grew them everything a little bit.
I take all my growing direction from my wife.
Right.
Whatever she tells me to, she sent me recently to a laser person, skin laser.
She goes, you look like shit.
Get over there.
I'm making a point for you.
I'm a, yeah, I'm a hair clipper guy on the balls.
Like not a razor.
No, I'm not right.
I live with two guys.
I don't know.
I don't understand how people shave their scrotum with a razor.
Isn't that weird?
I look at like 90-year-old men and go, how do they still shave their faces?
How do they stretch this out?
Because there's so much bagginess.
When they're really wrinkly and baggy.
And you're like, how do they get a smooth shave the elderly?
Well, however they do their balls, they do their face.
Yeah, but my balls, I reckon your balls, I reckon, when you get to 90, your face becomes
more like a scrotum, and I reckon your balls become the smoothest part of your body.
Like, I feel like gravity stretches them down so much that that's when you could shave your balls.
Could be?
But at the moment, my scrotum looks like I'm 90.
But then again, the skin could get a little more thin as it stretches.
Yeah, but at least it'd be.
It needs to be smooth.
Yeah, you and I both.
Like, ugh.
Yeah, I don't know how you do.
And the bit, the taint, I could never.
I find that hard to clipper that.
And I get a lot of hair down there,
but I find it hard like that bit where you lay on your back
and you sort of get the clippers in between,
you raise your legs back.
This is the most unglamorous thing.
Did you ever nick that?
I have made a couple of nicks in my day, yeah.
Once Nick Muscrotum with the clippers,
and the blood was, that's why I kind of,
understand what someone does with the razor. Do you ever like get like cutthroat
shaves, like go into a barbershop and get like someone actually? No, I've never done to
do that. I've never done it. Is it good? Yeah, I do it every now and again. I don't
shave very much at home and I only just use the clippers on my face and then, but I got a cutthroat
every now and again. They do it at Floyd's and it's, but it's pretty hard. Would they bring
at that huge? They have the stoop, the big leather strap. Yeah, because often you're being done by
like a 21 year old girl who's like, ah, you know, but it's, do they get really close? Is it really
Good.
Oh, it's, no, it's amazingly close shave.
Do you bleed?
No, you don't bleed.
No.
They do it twice, but it's just a razor against your face.
Did they go against the grain?
They go both.
They go up and then back the other way and they put a hot towel.
You should do it.
I would like to.
There's a whole world of shaving out there.
Yeah.
You know, there's a guy named Lee, I came across one time.
Lee's shaved.
He's like in the eye of the storm.
He knows everybody and everything and every razor.
It's a whole world when you get into it.
When they do the cut, they do it, actually like they sharpen it on the leather.
Yeah, the strupe.
It's called a strupe.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Why it's not called a strap?
I don't know, but it's called a strupe?
Everybody, gentlemen?
Yeah, Gary, yeah.
Is it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Look it up.
I don't know why we need to actually figure this out.
Like, you're the only clean-shaven person out of the four of us.
The rest of us have got that, like, we're not growing a beard, but we're just slovenly.
No, no.
When you use clippers in your face, it looks good.
Yeah, I use clippers.
I had a thing the other day that my girlfriend asked if I ever internet dated
and I said, I did once and I did it.
You know, you went to those match.com commercials and they go,
we pair you up over 200 questions and then we pair you up with someone who's perfect for you.
They kept on pairing me up with other fat slobs who didn't want to get off the couch.
That's not what you want.
Yeah, I don't want that.
I want someone who's going to go, come on, we're going out.
We're going out.
Well, that's what's flawed about all that dating stuff, because no one has ever really figured out what people need in another person.
Yeah.
What attracts, what they want.
It's all very idiosyncratic.
It's all the individual stuff.
Jim, we've found another drunk who's got bipolar.
Enjoy.
The two of you confess to together.
You've got a lot in common.
Have you seen this MTV show where they do that?
You guys seen this?
What, dating naked?
No, no.
I think it's VH1.
This is a show where they have 10 people, 20 people, 10 and 10.
in a house and they have to figure out who the perfect match is.
They've matched them up specifically through some sort of psychological testing.
And they all get money if they,
if all 10 for 10 end up with the right people.
The one that supposedly...
Does it happen like the jerks hang out with the jerks?
Well, that's what I've never seen the show.
It sounded bizarre.
They have to basically sleep with everybody until they find the one that they...
Oh, well, they didn't fuck them, though, do they?
They probably do.
They're encouraged to, yeah, they're encouraged to.
A girl that I used to have sex with back in the day who actually...
the name's Camille, if she's listening.
She used to listen to the love line.
Nice girl, nice girl.
But she was on Dating Naked.
Oh, my God.
And it's weird when you see an X.
I was just channel flicking.
And I went, I know that ass.
Wow.
That's got to be extra weird.
Yeah, yeah.
She was on Dating Naked, yeah.
Wow.
That's weird.
Another Lovelin success.
Anyway, I want to go back to Legit.
I can't get over the fact that legit's not with us.
It's making me insane.
Are you going to,
The exploration you were on with the disabled.
Is that an explanation you're going to continue in some of your other shows?
I don't know if I would do it with another sitcom because I wouldn't want everything.
You know, the reason why I'd never called the show Jeffries or Jim or anything like that,
I'd like to, you know, and I only ever wanted legit to go for four seasons.
And I knew how it all ended.
I knew how the whole show was going to.
How?
I'm not going to tell you because maybe one day I can make these two seasons.
I can tell you off there, but I knew how it all.
I won't tell you on it.
Dan, you know, Dan's character got pretty far down stream.
Yeah, he got far down stream.
You know, like, but I always like the Ricky DeVice mold of you make a sitcom for a few years,
and then you make another good show, and then you make another good show.
Then you go back.
If you just call it gym, then it's just like a, you know.
So he made The Office, then he made extras, then he made Life's Too Short,
and now he made Derek, you know.
I always sort of like that model.
but will I do it again?
I'd like to make two more seasons
if someone would put it on their network
and I'm still trying to ask people like Yahoo
and all that type of stuff and see if, you know,
and Netflix just said no, they said,
oh, they're not interested, but everyone right now
watch my standard special and watch legit online
if legit online on Netflix does really well
then maybe I can convince them to make the other couple of ones.
Netflix?
Yeah, you know what I mean?
How hard is it to get them to do a show on Netflix?
Are they really tight, you know,
are they difficult or are they?
They're the easiest people I've ever worked with.
There's no way this can't happen.
This must happen.
They're the easiest people.
Can they write in?
They just have to watch the shows.
I'll tell you, making the stand-up special with Netflix was a joy,
because every time you make a stand-up special,
they all run to 54 to 56 minutes.
Yeah.
Because even when it's on HBO,
there still needs to be a couple of minutes before
where they do the and the thing
and coming up next on HBO.
My Netflix special,
there was only one joke that was edited out
because there was a request from one of my managers
to edit it a joke.
Can you hit, can you ever see hit what it was?
It was, no, it was a misogynistic joke that my female manager decided that she didn't appreciate.
And so there's one joke that's been taken, but my special runs like, my new special comes like 73 minutes.
And the show just ended when it ended.
It wasn't like, because stand-up never runs exactly to an hour.
Yeah.
And so that was cool.
And also, they just didn't give me any hassle.
They were just the best thing to work with it.
Anyway, so
I would, if I can't make
a legit season's two and three,
I think I could wrap everything up in a movie.
And I may fund that myself.
Talk to Corolla,
that's how we did it.
Yeah,
I may fund it myself
and then just sell it to something like Netflix
and just put it online.
You know, I know that...
Wait, no, is this movie
the end of the legit series,
or is it something else?
No, I, no, I could,
I'd like to wrap everything in legit up
because the characters...
Yeah, we're just left there,
just...
Yeah.
They hated each other at the end.
I had a big way from the comeback in season three.
And it was sort of, it wasn't a cliffhanger as much,
but all three characters have gone off in their separate directions.
And I'd like, I don't like that world where those three aren't getting along.
Your performers, the actors feel very disconnected too.
I've talked to Dan and DJ.
And they're both like, what?
They're like, a drift.
Yeah, yeah.
You know what I mean?
I want to finish this.
I want to, like, yeah.
Yeah, the three of us are still very close friends as well.
The three of us still hang out.
DJ's a little bit harder to get hold of because he's working all the time.
What's he doing?
Oh, he's off on Supernatural.
He's up, he's been up in, I'm going to say New Orleans doing a movie or something like that.
Dan's off doing, he's on Veep, but then he also did a couple episodes of Bad Judge,
which is about to come out.
And he's in a couple of episodes of Gotham.
plays like, I don't know, the Riddler or something.
I don't know.
I'm just throwing that name out there.
He plays like some villain in Gotham.
He's a really good actor.
Really good actor.
And me, I haven't had an acting job since.
Actually, you tell a lie, I had one.
I play Santa Claus in TNT's the Librarian,
which is the TV series with No One.
And I got to do my scene with Bruce Campbell.
It was pretty cool, actually.
It wasn't a bad day.
And you're playing Santa Claus?
I'm playing Santa Claus in the Christmas episode.
Did you use an American accent?
I used a cockney accent.
They rang me up.
I didn't have to audition.
Someone said, Jim, you can do a cockney accent, right?
And I said, better than Dick Van Dyke, which is actually like an in-joke with the British,
because Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent was the worst in history.
In Mary Poppins.
Where he said, oh, right, Mary.
And he did all that.
It's like everyone always, still stand-up comics will reference Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent.
Because it was so...
It was so bad.
You know, as an American, it's hard to identify.
what was so bad about it?
Well,
it was so cartoony.
Yeah, it was too cartoony,
and it was a little bit like,
oh, what were your father?
He has a problem.
And prisons come in all cages.
Some cages are, you know, that type of
bullshit.
What would it, should it be?
Well, I,
That's a problem.
We can't.
I can't do an awesome cockney accent.
I just lied to them and said I could,
and then they gave me the part.
But I do,
there's, there's a couple of avenues
to go down with it.
You can, I reckon,
and you can do the Michael Cain.
The Michael Cain is something that floats
a little bit higher.
That's a Cockney accent?
Yeah.
What about, what about...
But then you do Jason Stratham
or Ray Winston is the way to do it.
That gangster.
All right there, my son.
I feel like we've got a problem in our hands, don't we?
You know, and you do that one.
I just did that one.
I did Santa Claus.
All right, little girl, what are you want for Christmas?
And then they use lots of weird aphorisms.
Cockney rhyming.
Yeah, yeah, Romance.
The Australians have that as well, Romance Slings.
Peaches and stairs and something.
Apples and pairs stairs.
Trouble and strife, wife.
What the fuck?
But then there's ones that are a bit more obscure.
Like, you can say, like, for diabetics, let's say, Charton.
What does that mean?
There's a football team called Charton Athletic.
Diabetic.
Oh, God.
Right?
Yeah.
Following.
Yeah, there's a whole heap of them in Australia.
there was a singer for a while called Barry Crocker,
and so that means you had a shocker.
So you go, I just had a Barry.
You wouldn't even say the rest of it.
Which is a shocker.
It's good, but then there's new ones coming up all the time.
After 9-11, I saw, like, a guy in a bar burp,
and then go, Bin Laden for pardon.
See, I don't think people understand this at all.
I can barely get my head around it.
But it's cute once you get into it.
So people of British descent rhyme limerically.
Mostly southern Londoners.
It's a particular bit of London.
They come up with rhymes that end up becoming short for...
The beginning of that rhyme becomes short for the word that the rhyme was at the end of the rhyme.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. It's complicated.
And it's many time for us, the word that they were rhyming towards, we don't know what that means either.
Like shocker?
What's a shocker?
Oh no, well, the shocker that's from Australia.
Like, that was shock.
Like, I, uh...
Starling?
No, no.
If, if you did a cricket ball and it didn't land on the pitch, you go, I had a shocker.
Like, it wasn't very good.
Like, that was shocking.
Shitty.
Yeah.
It was shockingly bad.
Shockingly bad.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, that makes more sense.
I was in a cab in London like two weeks ago, and the cab driver was like the most cockney joke
ever.
He's like, oh, all right?
You're from Australia, are you?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I would never go out there.
Never go out there, mate.
Bloody.
Oh, too many.
too many nasty critters out there for me, you know.
He goes, my mate, he got married,
he went out there on his honeymoon, got eaten by a shark.
They said he didn't suffer much.
He was only married for a week.
See, that's a good cab driver cockney day.
That is a good job.
I'm speaking of the weird accents.
What about My Fair Lady?
Was that an over-the-top?
My Fair Lady was, we'll see that, okay, this is,
we're both musical fans in case the people didn't know this about me and Dr. Dr.
My Fair Ladies was originally done in the West End by...
Who did the...
The original.
The original recording is all Julie Andrews.
I was going to say it was Julie Andrews.
And everyone always expects to be Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews.
And then the last minute...
Isn't that Julian Andrew's first big break?
That was the first big break.
And she basically had the role.
And in the last minute they bring in Audrey Hepburn.
Who I don't think even sang her songs.
She did.
Not her singing.
Yeah, not even singing.
Strangely, it sounded like her voice, which I always thought was weird, but it's not her.
Yeah, but still to this day, it's like a thing in movie history where they're like, why did they not do that?
I find...
Well, why did they not bring Angela Lansbury into Maine?
They brought Lucille Ball in.
I think that Audrey Hepburn is a bore.
And I think that Audrey Hepburn is the type of thing that a girl, if you made a girl who has fuckle personality, right, there's always an Audrey Hepburn poster on a wall when you get back to a bedroom.
Yeah.
That's like, it's like, there's a lot of heavy lifting on a girl who's got nothing to say.
But also, that's funny.
But also that she was a movie star and Julie Andrew's not a movie star, you know.
No, she wasn't a bit.
Untried.
But this is the thing.
I just watched Mary Poppins again recently after watching The Saving Mr. Banks.
I gave it a rewatch.
Yeah.
In a day, you would have done her.
Oh, yeah.
But I never as a kid looked at her as like.
No, she's asexual.
Yeah, I never looked at her as being like good looking and stuff.
there was other women on TV, even at five, that I was like, I didn't know what I wanted to do to them, but I wanted to do something to them.
Yeah. Right? Are the rumors that she's great? True. Maybe that's maybe that was coming through or something?
I didn't know, but she was married. I don't know. Do you think he's Julie Andrews guy? Do you want to room and mill that on the, uh,
we're looking into it. Google that. She can't sing anymore. She's the, I know. She had the, really one of the greatest voices of all time.
She's a beautiful voice. Yeah.
No, I don't think she was gay.
She was in musical theater.
There's no gay people in musical theater, surely.
I couldn't be right.
See, okay, so you know all the celebrity gay things, right?
Okay, so I've heard the Travolta.
Rumors are out there, according to Gary.
I've heard Travolta's gay, and I've heard from a fair amount of people that it's like, like, and I'm in the entertainment industry.
That's like a done deal.
But then the top...
She's a gay activist, apparently, Julie Randers.
Maybe that's where they get those rumors.
But then the Tom Cruise thing, I've heard that that's all bullshit, that he's not gay.
It's all probably.
You know what I mean?
Who cares?
Ultimately, who gives a shit?
I can't believe people talk about that.
And then everyone always says Hugh Jackman is, and I don't think Hugh Jackman is,
because people just say Hugh Jackman because he was in musical theater.
Right.
I don't think he's gay.
But I will say this, right?
So tell me if my statistics wrong.
One in ten men are gay.
Yeah, well, roughly.
Maybe let's say one in 20.
Okay.
So that's, one in 20.
Come on.
All right.
Really?
One in 20?
I always thought it was one in ten.
Well, that data has been sort of, let's say one at ten for take a argument.
Okay.
Well, let's say one in 15.
split the difference.
Yeah, you go.
Right.
That's probably accurate.
Why don't 15 men are gay?
Yeah.
Right.
Then in the entertainment industry, how many movie stars are there?
Let's say there's, I don't know, 300 movie stars, male movie stars?
You could argue, 300 famous actors.
Yeah.
And there's like fucking three million of them trying to get those jobs.
Yeah.
Right.
But there's 300 famous actors.
I can probably name you it 10 gay people, 10 gay people.
10 gay men.
Among those 300.
Yeah.
So there's got to be more, as you're saying.
It's got to be.
Statistically, and also it's in the arts.
So it's got to be 1 in 10 because it's the arts.
It's an occupation that attracts gay.
So let's say 1 in 10 of them are gay.
So where are the 30 gay people?
Yeah.
They're in there somewhere.
They're in there somewhere.
Yeah.
And I know personally, I know a couple here and there who are in the stand-up comedy community
who I know a gay who have never come out.
On the DL.
Yeah, who have never come out.
because they think it will.
And I don't think we live in a society with people.
Give a shit anymore.
I don't think.
Who knows?
I mean, you know, you and I.
I'm always impressed.
I'm into musical theater.
I'm always impressed with athletes who come out.
Like, they talked about Jason Collins coming out in the NBA.
But we had a guy who actually became an actor called Ian Roberts, who was in Australian rugby,
who was the hardest cun on earth.
Like, he could tackle anyone.
He was the toughest man.
in the world.
Six foot six and he was built like
and he came out during his career
as just super gay
on the cover of a gay magazine.
And I've always had like super respect
for that guy because he was in the toughest sport on earth
showering with the rest of him and all that type of stuff.
And then in the end he, because he was so good at it,
he got a huge respect.
There is.
Yeah.
And that was why he was still playing.
Yeah.
He played the henchman in
Superman Returns behind Kevin Space.
Oh, no kidding.
I'm like, because they found it in Australia.
Now, Kevin Spacey, there's some rumors about that young man as well.
But I think everyone knows that one, right?
Yeah.
But in terms of musical theater, the only three guys I know that have,
that talk about this are you me and Seth MacFarland.
And which is weird, because I look like success,
Seth McFarlane's slightly retarded younger brother,
who hasn't done very well.
That's what I always, people always go,
you kind of look like Seth McFarland.
Yeah, if you just let himself go a little bit.
Didn't shame.
Yeah, it didn't do too good and just stop making.
I always like Seth MacFarlane, every time there's a hot girl,
I've never met Seth MacFarlane, but every time there was a hot girl and legit,
you talk to them, inevitably, every single one of them.
And like Ginger, I'm just like the ones that we know, right?
Ginger Gonzalez.
Ginger Gonzalez, Jill Latiano.
Right?
Who just another kid?
Oh, that's right.
I should say high to them.
Yes, yes, they did, yeah.
Jill Atteiano
and all
Every single
Or Ginger Gonzaga
I said
Ginger Gonzales
Yeah
Every single one of them
Have all done
A small voice
On the family guy
Or something like that
I think
And I've never met
Seth McFarn
But I think what he's deal is
I think he meets
Girls in Bars
This is all
Just me saying things
I think he meets
Hot Girls in Bars
Now hot girls in bars
Now
Hot girls for their whole lives
have been complimented
on their good looking
Or whatever
blah blah blah
I think he looks
them in the eye
And goes
You have an amazing voice
We'd love to get you in
for a voice. And this is a compliment angle they've never come from. And I reckon they
comes down because what do you need such hot chicks for cartoons?
Brilliant.
Millicunis is doing. It's a cartoon. We can't see them. And every single one of them, if you
watch an episode of the family guy and watch the credits and you go, here's that girl. Google that
girl afterwards on MDB. It'll be some stunning model. There hasn't been an ugly person to a voice
on one of those cartoons. And I can tell you, as somebody who's done a voice on family,
guy. Seth's in there
coaching every voice, every vocal
performance. He's in the booth.
I've come in and just
trying to get voice work
from voice work.
I went into the CIA and went
and checked and they said, so what are you after Jim?
And I said, let's be honest. I'm after an
outback steakhouse commercial
or a foster's ad. And that's all I want.
And then there's meant to be
like a Dreamworks movie coming out called Larikins
which is all
Australian wilderness animals. Like, you
know, like a Shrek movie.
Oh, wow.
Right, which is all up.
Oh, you've got to be in that.
If I don't get into that one.
Yeah, come on now.
But you know that Jeffrey Rosh and Hugh Jackman, they're all going to rock up and bring
their other friends.
I just need to be like a wombat or a Goanna or something.
I could be one of those things.
Why didn't you ever meet Hugh Jackman?
It should be your hero.
I've never met Hugh.
I don't, you know, I don't meet lots of famous.
Paul McCartney was the most fan.
I met, I met Axel Rose recently.
Oh, that's a sighting.
Yeah, that's it.
How was it? I got a photo.
What happened was I was in Vegas doing a show at the joint at the hard rock casino.
And they said to me, my show started at 8.
I brought two support acts because I thought, we'll have a good night out.
Right?
Oh, my God.
And so we'll have a good night out.
Did you recognize him as Axel Rose?
I just saw the concert, right?
But they went to me, they go, you have to be off stage by 930.
I go, that's an hour and a half show.
I said, I normally do an hour half by myself,
and I've got two support acts.
And they said, there's a band on afterwards.
So you have to be off by that time.
And I'm like, fuck some fucking band who's coming on at 11.
Who gives a shit, right?
It's some late night band.
And they go, it's Guns and Roses.
And I went, oh, right, I'll get off.
So I'm on stage.
I'm at 920, and there's little tricks you can play on stage
where you act like you're giving the audience a little bit more than you,
like you start going, oh, I meant to be off,
but I still got 10 minutes.
And then I go, all right.
I'll give you another 10 minutes, right?
Yeah.
And then, so I do that, and then I said the joke, I went, I went,
ah, it's not like Axel Rose has ever left me fucking waiting for a concert.
Oh, right?
And so I said that.
So afterwards, we, there was some mushrooms involved for whatever reason.
Afterwards, someone gave us some, but that was the only drugs.
You and Axel?
Well, I was on, you can tell I have a faraway gaze in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the picture.
I've got like a little bit of a, but, yeah, I wasn't on Coke or anything like that.
I had a few beers and a couple of mushrooms.
and so we went up and they took us up into the suite.
I didn't know I was in Axel Rose's suite.
And there was like strippers on poles and girls eating each other out.
What?
It was like in the middle of Vegas.
And so I'm there with my two mates.
And one of my mates picked up like this really cute looking girl.
And I was just, and then someone said, Mr. Rose wants to talk to you.
And I'm like, what?
You were in his room?
Yeah.
So I go and meet Mr. Rose.
And I was like, and I was like, I'm just a big fan of yours.
I do anything.
And then one of the security company.
to try and kick me off and the guys like and axel's like no no it's Jim jeffries it's all right
right and i'm like fucking Axel rose just said it's Jim Jeffries leaving him alone so I'm like
pretty excited and then he goes it's been uh it's been really um overblown about how many times
that i showed up late for gigs he's really sensitive about this whole thing that he's always
late for shows wow so don't tease him about it on stage because Axel rose doesn't like it
okay there you go there you go
Noted.
What's with the...
So in his room, he has, like...
I think he was at the gig.
But I understand.
What's this room with the stripers?
Oh, no, no, because he had a residency, a two-week residency at the Hard Rock.
They gave him a big suite that was probably just their party room.
Yeah.
Which was just invitation.
But he's a 50-something-year-old man.
Yeah, but the rest of the band's in their bloody 20s.
Oh, that's all right.
Okay.
It just seems sounds so bizarre.
It's up for a car.
This was like 4 or 5 in the morning, but he was...
Sounds poxy.
He was...
A bit poxie.
See that?
He's wearing a Kurt Cobain t-shirt.
Wow.
The guy, man, and he puts on a great concert.
He rocked it out, man.
It was really good.
Did you ever ask him why he doesn't get with the other guys?
No, I didn't.
We're not that close.
But Duff was in the band.
Duff came back.
Duff McKinan or whatever his name is.
But then, incidentally, I see, like, Matt saw him.
Like, two days later, I did his charity gig down at the improv.
He was the drummer for Guns and Roses.
But, you know, Steve.
Stephen Adler's around.
Yeah, he's still kicking about.
Is he off the drugs?
He's doing great, really?
Can he still play?
Oh, my God.
Yes.
Have you seen those new John Vivardis commercials?
Yeah.
Where it's like all drummers and Jimmy Kimmel and Steve Tyler's in it as well.
But it's like, it's like Ringo just playing the drums.
And then Matt Sorum plays the drums.
And then Dave Carole plays the drums.
And it's all the new line of clothes.
And it's just Ringo going, I always like the sound of them.
You know, many people like guitars, but I always like to bang the drums.
But then you noticeably can see that Ringo's not as good as the rest of him.
Even in this little ad...
That's what everybody's always said.
Matt Sorham is...
Matt Sorham has played on every...
He plays all the plays.
Yeah, he's the dog's pollux.
But did you ever hear Ringo on Stern when he declares he will not be signing any more autographs?
I say this with peace and love.
Peace and love.
Peace and love.
Peace and love.
Peace and love.
love. But I understand that because your whole life is walking and signing autographs.
Like you're, okay, you're more famous than me. How often the day do you get stopped for an
autograph? It's pictures now. It's not I'm going to. Yeah, mostly pictures. How often do you get
stopped for a picture? Ten times. Ten times a day. Yeah. Okay. Imagine if you were Ringo
star. Yeah, it could be ridiculous. Yeah. You wouldn't be able to get to the shop. No, right. You
wouldn't be able to walk around. Yeah. You wouldn't be able to walk around. So it's one thing.
What happens to you is, so for me, it's like three pictures a day. Yeah. For you, it's like,
10. Right? Very manageable.
Yeah. But if you're a Ringo
star, that's not... It could be
a thousand. No. That's the end of your fucking...
That's why I even felt bad when we met Paul McCartney
in the front of the toilet. And I was... It was me
and three other famous people.
But he out-trumped us.
Oh, but yeah. Yeah. Right?
So three other famous people
were bothering him in the same way that
we get bothered in the... You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
It was a very bizarre thing, but it was still like...
Because sometimes you see people who, like, you'd be
eating and they can have a photo and it's like I think they know it's rude but then they know
they're doing something rude because you're eating that makes them push even harder though sometimes
yeah they're gonna push through but what they what they think is fuck it I'm only got one shot
right right right but now that's like I've already committed myself and they go all the way
you're like you're like chewing on your steak like uh I bet can you yeah yeah now here we go
these guys will love this flying back last week from New York seat next to me Kate Upton
Ah, yeah.
I like the Epton.
Really?
Yeah.
Did you talk to her?
No.
What thing is wrong with you?
This is the interesting thing.
This is appropriate.
This is why I came up my mind.
I should have told her she had a great voice.
Bring her on the podcast.
First of all, I thought of Mike Catherwood.
It was the first thing I did.
I thought he's going to hold my hand in the fire if I don't bring him a sample or something.
He's going to just, he's never going to forgive me.
And it was one of those things.
things are. She was literally as far away as you are with me right now. And she immediately went
into seclusion mode. She was not exactly engaging with the air staff either. Right. And when the
play, like that you know, her earphones on, head down, hoodie up, the whole thing. And I thought,
you know, she must get the match. You imagine dudes coming up to her all the time. And I, and I
jump, I looked for my opportunities too. I thought, well, she put in her luggage up top. I'll offer
to help. No, she would, no. She's a big woman. Yeah, this is the thing about, about her is
I'm glad she's bringing back tits and ass
You know from all the skinny
Yeah, she's 22
Yeah
She's better bloody watch a diet
Because she might
She might
She might become the Anna Nicole Smith
No, I'm all for it
I'm all for it, but those titty's come at a price
Right?
Like you have to pay for everything
Eventually, right?
So I thought
So I thought okay
When we get off the plane
That's when this, you know, the luggage or whatever
And God damn it if America
down and I didn't bring somebody on and just whisk her up.
And I was like, come on.
I sat next to, on British airways coming back from England,
unlike flatbeds, I sat next to Gwyneth Paltrow,
but we were facing opposite directions.
They could go head to toe on those ones.
And there's a barrier in between.
I sat down and went, hello, and then the barry went,
and that was my whole Grenneth Poutro.
And then she got taken off,
and there's some special hallway when they're that famous, right?
evidently because I noticed later when I was waiting for my luggage, the people at Wistair off were waiting for her luggage.
Yeah.
So there was something that she vanished somewhere.
Yeah, there's some, they take you out through a, I don't know.
That seems like, I don't, how bad could it get that you're, you know what I mean?
That's like, uh.
I don't know.
Like if you were Kim Kardashian-Offing photos, yeah, I could get pretty bad.
She must get weird stuff.
You know what I mean?
It must be, you know, you can imagine.
I was waiting for her at the airport and blackface once and she just didn't, she just didn't come out.
But that only works.
You have to listen to the other podcast.
If you just hear that on its own, it sounds very bad what I just said there.
Let's take some calls.
People have questions for you about stuff.
This is Christian.
Oh, no, I can take a break for it.
Hang on, Christian.
We're going to take a break.

I think I'm going to start a new podcast.
The Drew and Jim podcast.
Jim.
Dr. and Jim Jeffries tonight.
And having a good time.
This is Christian.
What up, Christian?
Atlanta.
Not much.
What's going on, guys?
We're getting it on.
Perfect.
Big fan of both you guys.
My question is for Jim.
I was interested if you are going to go back on Jim and Eddie Talk Shift for the last
couple episodes they're doing.
No, I don't particularly get along with Eddie.
Really?
It was that bad that quick, huh?
Well, no.
Look, I don't want to get too far into it.
And I don't know.
Let me get it for the record.
They're both great guys.
I can't.
So that's shocking to me that these guys don't have a drop.
The problem I have was this.
He got very angry when I left the podcast because I was doing too much stuff on the show.
With the TV show, I couldn't do both.
And you had him play some great roles in the TV show.
I had him even come on and play a partner role.
That was a great episode.
That was my favorite episodes with you.
We had a lot of, not a lot of money, but there was some money in the account from doing adverts and stuff like that for the actual podcast.
And I just never saw any of the cash.
I never got paid my half.
so a little bit
I think
I look
he doesn't seem like that guy to me
maybe there's a reason
yeah but he think
in his mind
I think he thinks
that I left therefore
I left
you know he had to keep
that money
to keep the show right
you know there's a lot
he said
she said
I look I don't want to get
into a feud
with the guy
or anything of that
but
that's why you just need
to squash it for the fans
and just do the show
for the one off
you do cherry work
for all kinds
of it look at his charity work
I do charity work
you're not disabled
these people
There's nothing wrong with them.
They're just doing a podcast.
I still chat with the other guys.
I still, Jason from the podcast,
takes me just this morning.
Well, that makes me very sad.
That's a shame.
That's what I'm saying.
For the fans, we all love you guys together.
I know it's personal,
but what's funny is it's not even that big of a deal.
When you think about it, you guys are just being babies both of you.
Christian.
Jesus Christ.
It's like your mom.
Well, look, I don't know what he's saying about me and the thing,
but I don't want to say too much more.
I don't think he's the same way.
He hasn't said anything much about it.
I didn't even know about it.
I just saw Eddie two weeks ago.
I didn't even know about it.
All right, well, listen.
Thanks, Christian.
We'll leave it there.
Let these gentlemen be exactly that.
John 37, Lake Tahoe.
What's up?
Hey, Dr. Seventy.
How are you?
I'm good, John.
What's going on?
Hey, Mr. Jeffries,
that's what I'm looking forward to your civil legacy trip out in Reno
in November 14th?
Oh, am I coming to Reno?
Oh, I am I coming to Reno.
No, I know.
I know.
I'm booked, but I die.
I don't know where I'm going anywhere in the world, really.
I didn't check a couple of weeks ahead, but there's, I'm going to,
the Silver Lake, is it, the Silver Lake Casino?
It is, it is, yeah.
That's the best steakhouse I've ever been to.
Wow.
Is in Reno, the best one I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot of steakhouses,
but that was, that is unbelievable.
The bread there is unbelievable.
You could have that as a meal.
Anyway.
All right, yeah, I forgot what I was going to ask.
I've been home so long.
Oh, yeah, my girlfriend and I, we play this game out here,
and I'm thinking, if you know this area, if you've been out this way,
It's a perfect mix of geography and economics.
We play this game.
How can you tell if this person ride the bike has a DUI or not?
So have they had their license revoked?
Oh, they're just an athlete.
Yeah, they're just into fitness.
They're outdoorsmen in Tahoe.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Exactly.
I can tell you, if you're still long pants, if you're wearing jeans on the bike,
that's DUI guy.
Yeah.
If your bike has a plastic bag dangling.
off the handlebar carrying something
like a can in it? That's
DUI guy. You know what I mean?
It doesn't even need to be that, but if you're
buying your bread, like if you're doing any
shopping with the bike, that's DUI
guy. There you go. Like if you have to transport things.
If you have to transport things with the bike, that's
DUI guy. Yeah.
See, that would never work in Portland.
We're talking about
the Reno bike guys. I'm not
questioning. Portland, they would
transport with some sort of weird
caboose. Yeah. You know what I mean? That's
that's the committed biker
as the DUI biker would have it
just sort of balance in the back
of the bike. It doesn't work for everything.
Like in Portland, if you're transporting a child
on one of those handlebar racks, that means
that you're just a parent who likes the outdoors.
But I don't think DUI guy transports
the children on the rack. I feel like in Portland
reverse, you look at the drivers and
wonder if they got a BUI and that's why they're driving
now because there's so many people who bike.
A BUI? They can get BUI.
What? Yeah.
Really?
Yeah. And you can go the other way?
I don't even know.
How do they take your license up for you?
There's no license for biking.
I don't know what they do.
I think it's just a fine or something.
Is it drunk and disorderly, basically?
Yeah.
But if you bike while drunk, like, cops can stop you.
In just in Portland or everywhere?
Everywhere.
It's drunk and disorderly, basically.
No, I have a friend who got it.
It's called something different, but it's the same implication as a DUI in Newport.
He's riding his bike.
You can't ride your bike anymore?
No, you can't ride your bike drunk.
You can get a DUI.
They'll take your license away.
Your driver's license.
Oh.
It doesn't seem fair.
Is it the same...
It's not the exact same code.
It's not driving under the influence.
I think it's called something else.
Because that I have done.
I've never drunk drove, but I have drunk biked.
Not often, but like when I lived in Venice...
Well, sure.
If you're down with the beach...
I thought that's all point of biking.
Yeah, down at the beach, especially.
I could see it would be dangerous down there those big avenues down in Newport and stuff so we get killed.
Well, this was on the boardwalk, down on, you know, down on the peninsula.
But it's just...
In Australia now, it's illegal to be drunk, to be intoxicated.
In public.
Without even the disorderly bit.
Just drunk.
Unfair.
Like, they don't really reinforce it, but the police can, if they want to be coxed here, they can go, oh, you're drunk.
Sounds a bit poxie.
It's very poxie.
But my son just got back from Australia, and he had a great time.
All the rub and tug parlors, I'm not surprised.
Yeah, I didn't know about that.
I did not know about that.
He looked very relaxed.
He won't get prostate cancer.
He looked very relaxed.
But he went to Thailand and New Zealand.
and went all over the place and had a great, great experience.
I just, yeah, Thailand, that's a weird.
I went to Thailand and it got to the stage where I was out there doing gigs
and the promoter owned a few bars and it's like,
can I go to a bar without prostitutes, please?
You really, I just want to go to a regular bar, please.
I've had enough.
I can't watch it anymore.
What do you watch?
Well, just, I just wanted to go to a bar and have like a beer,
just like a pub I wanted to go to, right?
And so he brings me into this place and it's like, okay, this is a pub now.
And I'm like, oh, I'm happy with this.
Thank you.
And then the guy giggles.
and points up, and the roof was glass or whatever, like clear,
and all the girls were sitting naked on their arses with numbers written on them,
so you can order the prostitutes like fish, like from a lobster tank.
That is so bizarre.
So I had a number 13 with black bean sauce.
Didn't have a lobster roll, a 13 roll.
But it was like just, and if you've ever seen like a vagina smashed up against glass,
It's not smashed up.
But sitting, it does, it's not as attractive as just when it's in the wild.
Takes a bit of the glamour way.
It takes, yeah.
And then you can see, like, one gets up and leaves a mark, and then you're like, ah.
No.
All these snail trails.
What do you mean you don't have any new material for your upcoming?
I don't know if you're really realized.
I don't know if that's a routine.
I think all this shit is.
All right, Mike, let's get going.
It's 35.
What's up?
Hey, Dr. Drew.
Hey, Jim.
Hi.
Hi, Jim, I'm going to be seeing you at the Grove in Anaheim in a few weeks.
Oh, fantastic.
When is that?
I want to go.
I want to go.
Yeah.
When is that?
Yeah, I don't know.
I'll look it up.
We went.
My wife and I went to the one he had at...
Yeah, I tried to do that, too.
Nokia was great.
We had a blast.
And everybody showed up.
DJ was there?
Yeah, yeah.
We had a good time.
Was Dan there?
Dan couldn't.
Dan lives out in Valencia.
Dan came to...
Dan, I had him on my TV show.
And Ginger.
Ginger was there.
Yeah, Ginger's there.
Ginger is always hanging about.
Dan's always somewhere.
Ginger's great.
Ginger, it's super bright girl.
Ginger's better looking than Dan.
Yes.
But the thing about Ginger, I keep giving...
September 20th at the Grove.
September 20th, I'll put it on my calendar.
Coming up.
People give...
I was given Chris shit about this, too,
because it seems like that Filipinos hide their intelligence.
She's not Filipino.
Yeah, she?
Yeah, she is.
She's half, I think.
She's half Filipino, yeah.
And she goes to great lengths to hide how smart she is.
I don't think all Filipinos have to go to.
I think it's a Filipino thing.
Well, it seems like you, I have another, I know another guy that is Filipino, Lido hides it.
You guys go, it's sort of like, it's somehow...
How does he hide it?
What does he do to hide?
He's a great musician.
That doesn't mean he's intelligent.
That's true.
But they hide their talents.
That's just a musical talent.
He hides his intelligence.
He's great at baseball.
But they never.
But they never, it somehow seems rude to talk or expose the fact that they have a bill.
No, it's just that me and you work in occupations where we're constantly bragging about the awesome things we've done.
And then when we meet an awesome, like a normal person who's just being humble.
Ginger reads law books for pastime.
Yeah, I don't know about that.
I think Ginger sucks up to Dr. Drew a little bit.
That's what I think happens.
I think someone's trying to impress someone like, how does someone hide their intelligence,
but casually drop into conversation, they read law books in their pastime.
If she tries to hide her intelligence, you should have never been able to milk that out of it.
There was never a scenario where you were talking to her and you went,
hey, you look dumb, but do you read law books?
And she's like, strange, you should ask that.
Strange you should ask that because I do.
I do, I do that as a hobby.
How did you find that out?
I was talking to her for a 10.
I thought she was just, you know, like the character.
you play on your show almost and I had no
idea who she was and I'm talking to her in about 10 minutes
in I was like Jesus Christ
I could tell she was super bright
and she kind of denied it and went along
and I kept at her about it
I don't remember the how did the law book thing come up
you remember how it came up yeah it just
sort of I said well I said
you should be going to law school or something because it's a funny thing
I think that's what I said you need to go to like graduate
school and she said well I read law books in my spare time
she can't be that bright she's chosen the occupation
of actress
like that can't be someone with a
a great plan in life.
I think she's a great plan.
This was mostly healthy.
Watching the Emmys last night, I know this is later, now whatever, but watching the Emmys,
was it Aaron Paul?
It might have been Aaron Paul.
Someone used the term, they got up and they accepted the award and they go, first of all,
I just want to say to my fellow nominees, thank you for giving your gift to the world.
It means so much that you actually share this on this planet.
And being with you is just in the...
like winning this award is so humbling.
And you're like, you don't know what the term humbling means.
It's the opposite of humbling.
You have just said that you were the most elite people and I just beat you.
You know what's humbling?
Not being nominated at having his show cancelled.
I was humbled.
Not being invited to the evidence.
Not being invited.
That's very humbling.
It's like, it is not humbling.
I heard the same Hugh Jackman when he put his feet in the concrete at the Chinese
theatre went, this is so humbling.
No, not humbling.
Well, what is that?
The feeling is humbling, though, right?
It's like, I don't deserve this is what they're saying.
Yeah, I know what they're trying to say?
What would be the right way to say that?
Because the feeling is I'm humbled by your gesture.
Yeah, but you're not humbled.
No, you're being exactly the opposite of humbled.
You're not being the opposite.
So this, in my moment of grandiose acceptance, I feel not unworthy.
Yeah, I feel unworthy of this honor.
But this is very humbling.
No, humbling is when they fill in your cement.
And they go, we need this space for someone else's shoes.
That's a humbling thing.
That's awesome.
I always think about the stars on the Hollywood Boulevard.
How much you're going to cost to have one of those?
Because you could get one.
Somebody has to sponsor it and raise the money.
50 grand.
That's all it is?
I think it's 50 grand or something.
But it's like, who wants to spend the money?
It's like Howard Stern was saying that he could get one.
Of course you could get one.
I think it has to be raised by other people.
I think, no, I think what happens is normally like, like you have a movie coming out, so the movie people go, we're going to spend this on the things so I can do a little promotion.
But if you, I think, here's why I wouldn't want to do it.
Right.
It would, I don't belong were Charlie Chaplin's. It dilutes his, the importance of, you know, of Kirk Douglas.
And it dilutes the importance of the people that does, that this thing represent.
You put Charlie Chaplin and Kurt Douglas.
Well, I'm just saying, I'm just thinking randomly about different errors of, of, of, important contributions.
Did you find it the Emmys this year in the, in Memorial,
and the big one at the end was Robin Williams, obviously.
And I just felt like Lauren Bacol's family was like, oh, suck a dick.
Really?
Really?
Because, like, if Robin Williams didn't die,
they would have given Lauren Bacol a lot of credit, right?
But she didn't quite make.
But then the Emmys, I understand for the Oscars you meant to have.
Because, like, last time with the Oscars, it was so many,
it was death after death after death.
Like, the guy who was editing that together was like, all right, and Paul Walker,
and there we go, and done.
And then it was like, Philip Seymour Hoffman and done.
And it's like, Shirley Temple, I thought she was already dead.
All right, fuck, all right, Shirley Temple and done.
But then at the Emmys, it should just be TV folk.
Paul Walker's never been on a TV show.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was in a TV star.
They did, they did, maybe they had.
No, they don't know it.
Really?
All these people, Shirley Temple.
She was on that?
She was on that?
But she actually did do a little bit of TV.
And I guess, also their movies aired on television forever.
That's sort of a staple of television.
But unless you were ever eligible.
for an Emmy, he shouldn't really make the Emmy in Memorium.
I agree with you. That's for the Oscars. I agree with you.
Because now Ron Williams is going to get two in memoriums.
How when does it end? Probably at two.
Humbling. Humbling.
So, John, no, wait. This is Mike.
Mike. Is that right? Yeah, Mike. What's up? Go on.
So I have a question for you. My sister is in her early 30s, and I think, I know she has some
sort of an eating disorder. When we are at a family dinner, she will stack a bunch of napkins
to the left two food, spit it out into her napkin, but disguise it like she's wiping her
mouth. Wow. The bit I loved about what you just said just then, you think your system might have
an eating disorder. I don't think she does. But I think it may be more than just an eating disorder.
Sure. What do you reckon that is? O.C.
or some sort of paranoia.
I don't know.
That's not the typical behavior of an anorectic.
But isn't that being able to enjoy your food without having to actually do the swallowing bit?
Maybe.
I don't know what she's thinking.
You know, I don't know.
It just doesn't, the behavior is unusual relative to, you know, anorexic usually take small amounts,
push their food around the plate, get in a power struggle over eating versus not eating.
This is not that.
This is some sort of clandestine OCD kind of thing.
She makes a big deal about taking seconds and thirds, and then just on her left hip, it'll be like this giant chewed-up bunch of food inside an napkin.
But I bet a body looks great.
Always look on the bright side of life.
I'm sorry, Matt.
I'm sorry.
How old is she?
She is 32.
Has she had previous psychiatric evaluation?
You know, she went through divorce, and so she saw a divorce count.
counselor and then she saw a counselor on her own, but I'm not sure. And I don't know if I should bring it up. I don't know where to go from here.
Well, you can just be, as always with mental health stuff, be matter of fact. Just say, listen, I noticed you spit your food out during dinner and I want to make sure you're okay. You're having a problem, you know, anything I do to help.
I just use a lot of, the greatest tool you can possibly use and talking to somebody about their behavior or their mental health situation is use all.
a lot of wonderment. Like, I'm wondering. That struck me. I noticed that. Is everything all right? Is there anything I can do? Just let it, hmm, what was that? Hmm, how interesting. Don't be like, what the hell's going on here? We've got to take you to the hospital. Just like, what was that? Even though you know it's something not right, you can approach it in a very non-threatening way by going, I wonder if I can be of help to you. I'm wondering if you're okay. I'm wondering what that was. And see what you get. I wonder if you've sought help about this. I mean, you can even be, you know, there
weighs in like, do you have a dental problem?
Or is there a soft, you have a medical problem?
You can't swallow. Is everything okay?
You know, just get at it sort of gently and then keep pushing until you get to some
satisfactory answer and always offer help.
Like, I'm here to help.
You know, you can't force people to get help, but you can certainly let them know you're,
you like them to or you're here to help out.
Sure.
Okay.
And let me know what you find out.
I'm very interesting.
That's an unusual behavior.
That's not your usual fare.
Okay.
All right.
Very good. Thank you, doctor.
Okay.
The thing is, I watch a lot of kitchen nightmares, and Gordon Ramsey seems to have the same issue that that woman has.
He spits stuff out?
Yeah.
And those people are putting it in a napkin next to it and just acts like he's upset.
He's really trying to keep his figure.
Dennis, 31, New York.
Hey, guys, how are you?
Thanks so much for taking my call.
You bet.
Thanks for holding out.
No problem.
I'm calling because I've been dating the same woman for about a year now.
And a few months ago, we decided to move in together.
The entire time we've been dating, she's.
She's lived about six hours away for me.
She's quit her job.
But over the past, I would say, two months or so,
we've had a couple of fights where I've seen some sort of,
what I described as irrational behavior,
and it's making me concerned about taking me and taking them.
You're dating a woman, mate.
You really, unless you want to start dating guys,
this is part and parcel.
That's my question.
Is my concern just my own...
Tell us what happened. What happened?
Sure, sure, sure.
we got into some sort of a very silly argument about literally Guardians of the Galaxy.
And so...
We've got to get James Gunn here.
He's a great guy.
Let me in on this.
Let me in on this. Let's say that she didn't think it was as good a movie as you did.
Sure.
Yep, okay.
Okay.
So it was essentially just, for certain reasons, aggressive.
I was like, you know what, this is ridiculous.
I'm just going to go to bed.
I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Cooler heads will prevail.
And then overnight that night, I got a flurry of phone.
calls and text messages. It was almost like
John Fevereux seen in Swingers, where
he goes through the entire course of a relationship
on the answering machine. She sort of
went through a whole emotional journey, and then over that weekend,
reached out to some of my friends for advice,
picked the fight with my sister on Facebook. It was really
like visceral. Oh, that's weird.
When she starts picking on
your friends and all the type of stuff, that's when it gets a bit
weird. So, you know,
the distance has been hard on both of us,
and I understand that, but there's
been sort of a pattern of
that kind of behavior that I think is a
irrational. And I'm wondering if
this is just me having
cold feet and trying to find a justification for it
or if it's a more serious issue.
I'm not sure you can answer that, can't we?
I'd give it more time because this is, you've only had
a couple of months, and this might be
an isolated thing that's happened
or she might be a psycho.
You know what I mean?
But he's been with, he's known for two years.
Yeah, but that's why I'm saying
because now they've just moved in together, and this might
be a little isolated. She might...
No, Jim, I'm sorry to interrupt.
Right.
The main issue here is we haven't moved into it yet.
That's happening next month.
And so now I feel like I'm a position where I can not pull the trigger on this or I can pull the trigger on it,
but I'm feeling that tension of, well, if I'm going to move on this, I've got to move now.
Or just give it time and take the plunge and trust that it's going to get better.
I look at this right.
I've lived with four women in my life, four girlfriends, like lived, lived, lived.
Each one of them lasted between two and four years that I've lived with these women.
It's my fucking life, man.
You know what I mean?
Right.
It's an interesting way to approach it, which is you pay your, you pay your, and take your chances.
But you like her, you like her a lot.
There's shit that goes down in relationships always.
And the heat goes up when you start thinking about moving in.
And by the way, in her head, just, you know, you're moving towards marriage.
For sure.
If the worst thing that happens is you break up and it turns out you don't get along or whatever,
then you just move out and get another place.
It's hard to do that.
though it's hard to move out once you moved in you're disentangling lives you know it's tough
oh yeah but as opposed to just breaking up you know distance tell me about i'm not mad to my girlfriend
we live together we have a kid and i always i have a friend who's like married who's who doesn't
have kids who occasionally talks to me like he's going to get divorced like i don't know like we've
got to save this marriage i'm like get divorced who gives a fuck because he's no kids
it's like if you don't have kids you're just playing at marriage i'm more married than a person
who's married who doesn't
have kids. Are you going to get married? I don't think so, but I'm more married than those people.
I know, you are. I agree. Why not? Why not give, and I'm going to appeal to you to say,
why not give your, your girlfriend and the baby, the constitutional protections of marriage,
legal protections? What do you mean legally? I've got the same legal protections. There's a little more
when you get married. But what about my legal protections of divorce that you don't have with me?
Do a, do a premarital thing of some sort. Yeah, I know. It's, it's a tricky one. It's, it's, I always,
because I came into it.
It's different.
I'm going to tell you something.
It's different when you get married.
It's a different feeling.
It's a good one.
It's better?
I was shocked.
I was shocked.
Yeah?
Surprise.
It makes a difference.
It's a different.
It's just a different thing.
It's funny.
Making it kind of,
it's probably different in the same way that not doing it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, I always,
I just had too many comedian friends who've got,
and now I'm not thinking of breaking up with a girlfriend who got divorced and lost all their
fucking money.
And it's like,
it's like.
And I've also talked to friends who've marriages have,
getting married has ruined relationships, so they've refused to get married.
And I've had long, long, ongoing, interminable great relationships.
They're superstitious a little bit.
Like, marriage will ruin this.
Yeah, it doesn't.
My parents, people always say, I'll never get married because my parents got divorced.
I'll never get married because my parents never got divorced.
Right.
They stayed together.
They stayed together.
And I was like, oh, please, why didn't you get divorced?
How old were they when they got married?
I'm going to say 25.
Maybe it's...
Because if they're 37, my brother's 40...
When you get married a little older, it's a little different, I think.
Yeah, I think so.
You're not so interested in moving around.
Yeah, I know.
I know.
I know.
I wasn't a kid when I...
Yeah.
Anyway.

It was something that just ended up happening.
