Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hulu original series Murdoch Death and the Family dives into secrets, deception, murder, and the fall of a powerful dynasty. Inspired by shocking actual events and drawing from the hit podcast, this series brings the drama to the screen like never before. Starring Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette and Jason Clark. Watch the Hulu original series Murdoch Death and the Family, streaming October 15th on Disney Plus. We have some huge breaking news, and this is not a drill. President of the United States just called for the jailing of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker in a post on truth social. Now, just keep in mind, Trump didn't name any actual law or statute that was being broken
Starting point is 00:00:44 because he's BSing. He's just using the platform that he has as the President of the United States to target his political opposition and try to get them either investigated or detained or arrested when there is no cause whatsoever. We live in America where we have due process, where are you supposed to go through the systems that we have in place? You are supposed to have due process, follow the laws. There are supposed to be investigators and prosecutors. Oftentimes you have a grand jury or a jury of your peers at the very least.
Starting point is 00:01:17 None of that is happening under Donald Trump's America when he wants to target his political opponents. All he has to do is send out a truth social post and name people like Brandon Johnson or J.B. Pritzker, and you see them targeted. Now, I do want to say, J.B. Pritzker and Brandon Johnson haven't actually been detained or anything. This is just Trump using rhetoric online, but let's look at what's happened when he's used rhetoric online in the past. He tweeted about John Bolton, hundreds of times, former security advisor John Bolton. Then John Bolton has his home rated. He tweeted about James Comey thousands of times. He sent thousands of tweets,
Starting point is 00:01:53 not tweets, but they're true social posts about James Comey. Then James Comey gets. indicted. He sent tens, dozens of truth social posts about late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, and then Jimmy Kimmel's show gets temporarily pulled off the air as a public intimidation method. This is somebody who is so intrinsically authoritarian that he wants everyone to consolidate around him ideologically, and when that doesn't happen, he targets you, or pulls your show off the air, or he goes after Democratic governors, or he mobilizes the military into your city, while immigrants are being deported with no due process whatsoever. I mean, I hate to invoke this because I know it makes Trump supporters angry, but January 6th and all of the actions surrounding that are the greatest example of authoritarianism in American history.
Starting point is 00:02:39 It's not even about the dumbasses that raided the Capitol. I actually don't even think it's about those dumbasses that rate of the Capitol on that day. I think it's about everything that surrounded it. For example, Trump did a fake elector plot multiple days before where he tried to insert fake electors into key swing states. Trump then called officials and begged them for votes. Trump then lied about election fraud and got people to storm the Capitol and chant hang Mike Pence. And yes, to some degree, it is about those dumb asses that rated the Capitol. But if you get what I'm saying, it's not even about the rating.
Starting point is 00:03:08 It's about the broader point that the president of the United States was able to rile up a crowd to storm the election or storm the capital while they were certifying the election. That is authoritarian. It is so incredibly authoritarian. And let's go through these posts. So Donald Trump posts this morning when I woke up, I live in work in Chicago, by the way. I grew up in northwest Indiana, and when I turned 21 years old, 20 or 21 years old, I moved to Chicago for college, and I ended up dropping out for this, but I still live in Chicago. We're launching a debate show in Chicago, and now we literally have helicopters here. We literally have ice agents riding boats through the river while not actually making substantive arrests.
Starting point is 00:03:50 So Trump tweets out randomly. Chicago mayor should be in jail for failing to protect ICE officers. Governor Pritzker also. I mean, there's no statute that he names. There's no crime. Even if he did name a statute or a crime, I'm not saying that would be okay because he is still trying to weaponize the government. But I'm just trying to point out how absurd it is that the president is calling for people to be in jail for no specific reason.
Starting point is 00:04:17 And when he does try to give some vague reason, it says, Chicago mayor should be in jail for failing to protect ICE officers. Here's the problem. The reason why ICE officers aren't being protected the way that you want, it's a few things. Number one, it's because you didn't actually coordinate with local and state officials for this to happen. J.B. Pritzker has been rather open to coordinating with Trump in very, very rational ways. So, for example, Governor Pritzker said, hey, if you want to do some level of, like, deep deportations in targeted areas with precision, that is different.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Just bring trained people here and do it with precision and we can coordinate. But what J.B. Pritzker said he's not going to allow is a blatant mobilization of the Texas National Guard, other national guards, to come to Chicago against the will of local officials. J.B. Pritzker had such a rational position. He was like, listen, we want to keep our city safe too, and we can help keep the city safe. but what you're doing is not keeping the city safe, Donald Trump. That's all J.B. Pritzker is saying, I'm summarizing his words, and Donald Trump is saying that he's failing to protect ICE officers, here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:05:29 A violence against ICE officers or anybody, violence against anybody in America for a political reason, is never justified. But ICE officers should be held to that same standard. So when we're sitting here looking at protesters and saying, hey, protesters, you better not commit violence. We have to be holding ICE officers to that. that same standard. Ice officers, you can't be committing violence. The reason why people say that ICE is basically the Gestapo is because they have the funding of an actual military, like an actual military level funding due to the big, beautiful bill. They go around with masks, refusing to identify
Starting point is 00:06:04 themselves, over and over, grabbing people and tearing them to the ground because the person just didn't speak English. It's one of the most sickening things that you see on camera. The ICE officers will go up to someone, and when they ask for papers or identification, whatever the question is, and the person doesn't speak English, they use that as like an escalatory tool. So the person doesn't speak English, and they immediately begin to throw this person to the ground or something. It is absolutely absurd. And let me go through J.B. Pritzker's response.
Starting point is 00:06:36 He said, I will not back down. Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power. What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism? His masked agents are already grabbing people off the street, separating children from their parents, creating fear, taking people for, quote, how they look, making people feel they need to carry citizenship papers, invading our estate with military troops,
Starting point is 00:07:02 sending in war helicopters in the middle of the night, arresting elected officials, asking questions, we must all stand up and speak out. Can I point out that Donald Trump posted, Just a few, it was about a month or two back. He said, I love the smell of deportations in the morning. Chicago was about to find out why it's called the Department of War. If you watch my videos, you know that I've returned to this post a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Honestly, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that the president of the United States made a post like this, and he wasn't immediately impeached and called out by his own party. I understand that we're in a situation where Trump has held to a different standard and that he can be blatantly authoritarian while Republicans have a blind eye. I understand it all. But you guys understand, like, at an intuitive level, how is the president of the United States talking about invading Chicago cities? Now, I had a friend say, after this was posted, quote unquote, you guys take him too seriously.
Starting point is 00:07:58 You guys take him too literally. He's just joking around. First of all, I said that's idiotic. But now, a month later, there are actual choppers in Chicago. Like, there are actual Black Hawk helicopters flying over Chicago. None of this is needed. J.B. Pritzker was more than willing to cooperate with law enforcement in a rational way, but Donald Trump decided to do this. He decided to say that Chicago's going to be invaded. We're at war. And if J.B. Pritzker pushes back, then he and the Chicago mayor should be in jail. Let's read the true social posts. Never forget Democrats cheered rioters for eight months. Okay, never mind. I already got brain rot from scrolling through truth social for five seconds. If you guys appreciate the videos we do. All that I ask is that you subscribe to the Adam Macler feed.
