All right, let me tell you, Maga Mike Johnson is hanging on by a thread as we barrel towards 30 days in this government shutdown. In just a few days, we will be passing the one-month threshold and the longest government shutdown to ever happen.

Starting point is 00:01:15 I mean, the previous longest one was under Trump term one. Now, we are recreating that only with Maga-Mike Johnson spewing vitriol every single time he steps in front of a microphone. I don't even want to waste any time. I want to break down how much of a mess this all is. Because right when he stepped in front of the microphone early this morning, to speak with Kelly Loeffler behind him and some other officials, he immediately says that Republicans aren't even in control of the government. And then I want to play the rest of the clips for you, but let's just start here. The Democrats are required to open the government.

Starting point is 00:01:49 They keep saying Republicans are in charge of government. We aren't. You are in charge of the government. Absolutely. Keep saying Republicans are in charge of government. We aren't. Not in the Senate. 60 votes control the Senate, not a bare majority.

Starting point is 00:02:03 And so point number one, Democrat votes are required to open the government. As Melanie points out in this, House, Republicans control it. Senate, Republicans control it. The presidency, Republicans control it. The Supreme Court is absolutely objectively more Republican right now. What Mike Johnson means is that billionaires and Trump's corporate donors are in charge of the government. I mean, he's trying to say that due to the 60 vote filibuster, they're just not in charge. of the government. But I think that proves that they're just awful negotiators. If you claim that

Starting point is 00:02:35 you have 53 Republicans who are aligned and you can't just negotiate or speak to seven Democrats and get them on board, do you know how many moderate Democrats there are in the Senate? Do you know how many Democrats in the Senate are quite literally just basically moderate centrist? We complain about this all the time. These people would totally be willing to sign on, but they're not opening the door for any sort of negotiation. It gets even worse. In this next clip, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson just tries to rant and ramble about how Democrats are Marxists and we're trying to please the Marxist base. He thinks that you all watching this video right now are literally Marxists. Like every single Democratic voter is just some communist who wants

Starting point is 00:03:18 everything to be destroyed. I think we all want a better country. We want a happy, stable country for our families. We want to make sure that we're safe, that crime is low, that vulnerable populations are protected and not punch down upon from the people in the highest positions, we want to make sure that wealth is redistributed, not in some Marxist fantasy, but in ways that countries have done before, like countries over in Europe. But Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is trying to villainize the other side.

Starting point is 00:03:46 And honestly, it's because he's hanging on by a threat really quickly. The Arizona Attorney General just sued Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for failing to swear in, Representative Grahalva, who is, who would be, the 218th vote to release the Epstein files. The Arizona Attorney General, Chris Mays, filed a lawsuit against Speaker of the House Mike Johnson on Tuesday for failing to seat this representative. I want to play you this clip because this dude's career is hanging on by a thread.

Starting point is 00:04:16 He's running around trying to play cleanup for his own party on camera every single day from morning to midnight, trying to clean up this PR disaster. And now he's kind of just throwing red meat to the base. to the way he's speaking about Democrats in this clip. Like, they don't want Democrats to exist. They want to villainize the party. Listen to this. The Democrats are more afraid of the Marxist in their base

Starting point is 00:04:40 than they are of hardworking Americans. See, they've made an evaluation that they have to appease the Marxist base, that they're so concerned that they'll lose their jobs if they don't appease the far left in their party. And they sat in a back room and they made the calculation that they would rather shut their government down

Starting point is 00:04:56 and impose all this pain on the American people, because they believe the Marxists, the far left in the base, are more active than hard-working Americans, people who go vote. And so they made the calculation that it's worth it to them. Every day gets better for us. We'll use the pain as leverage. For what to prove to the far-left base that they won't give in? I want everybody to keep in mind that just a few days ago, someone who was pardoned by

Starting point is 00:05:21 Trump, a January 6th writer who was pardoned by Trump, was arrested for sending death threats in trying to kill leader Jeffreys. He said, I've got to take this terrorist out. Now, Speaker Johnson, a few days later, stands up at the podium and says that we're all Marxists. The way they speak about Democrats is so inflammatory. But you know what's funny? The way Donald Trump speaks about Mike Johnson behind the scenes is even worse. Just read about this.

Starting point is 00:05:47 Speaker Mike Johnson's decision to put the House on an indefinite hiatus that is now stretching into its second month while the government is shut down is the latest in a series of moves that he has made that have diminished the role of Congress. Congress and shrunk in the speakership at a critical moment. Trump is even saying, quote, I'm the speaker and the president. Mr. Trump has joked, according to two people who heard the remark and relate it on the condition of anonymity. The article explains how this could have far-reaching consequences for an institution that is already ceding ground to Congress.

Starting point is 00:06:20 Congress has ceded the power of the purse at moments to Elon Musk and Trump. Congress has ceded the ability for Trump to, like, declare war through them. He's just striking random ships over and over. And now, Mr. Johnson, it says, who without the president's backing wields little influence over his own members, Johnson has chosen to make himself subservient to Trump, a break with many speakers in the past who sought in their own ways to act as a more governing partner. So now Trump is just openly saying, yeah, this guy is basically my little bitch. This guy basically does whatever I tell him.

Starting point is 00:06:54 This article backs it up. Trump humiliates Mike Johnson behind him. closed doors. Inside sources reportedly say Donald Trump has been heard privately joking about how easily he's been able to puppeteer House Speaker Mike Johnson. I'm the president and the Speaker the MAGA leader is understood to have said according to the New York Times. I mean, dude, we are heading into month two of the government shutdown. Donald Trump is currently talking about his ballroom more than he's talking about how to fix the government or end the wars or do anything substantive at all. And Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is

Starting point is 00:07:28 is running around at the U.S. Capitol from camera to camera, meeting to meeting. I mean, one thing I will say, this dude must be on some sort of crazy caffeine or Adderall, because from morning to night, he is lying over and over and over about who caused the government shutdown, about who's trying to help save Americans' health care costs from skyrocketing. Over and over and over, he calls the Democrats Marxists or communists and villainizes the entire party. The dude's hanging on by a threat.

Starting point is 00:07:55 Donald Trump behind the scenes is villainizing. this guy who was trying to just save the PR of the party by any means. Listen to him lying earlier this morning at the Capitol. What we're doing right now, what we have been doing, what we were already doing, because we knew we were coming up to the end of the year, and we know that healthcare is a major burden for the American people. We've been working on it since day one of this Congress. We've worked on it in the years prior, and we've already demonstrated, this is not talking

Starting point is 00:08:22 points for us. When we say the Republican Party is the only party that has any chance at fixing health for the American people, we've demonstrated it. We put it into the one big beautiful bill, the working family's tax cut. As you know, we strengthened the Medicaid program. We started there because it was the lowest hanging fruit. Why? Because the fraud is so glaring. And we cut out. We eliminated the fraud. We got ineligible recipients off of Medicaid. We preserved it for the people who rely upon it and need it the most. Young pregnant women, the elderly disabled, for example. We got able-bodied young men without dependents

Starting point is 00:08:54 off the program. And what we did was we strengthened it. He's bragging about how many people they've been able to kick off Medicaid. It wasn't just young, able-bodied young men who were kicked off by increased barriers. Mike Johnson is sitting there gaslighting. Democrats have made a lot of progress on health care. The Affordable Care Act was legendary. It saved the life of my uncle. Even during Biden's term, he passed progressive legislation or credits that most people could have dreamed of.

Starting point is 00:09:21 He helped add subsidies so people's premiums weren't skyrocketing all of the time. and Republicans are removing that, then lying to people's faces, while Trump is behind the scenes talking shit about the only Republican who is out there just trying to spin this. I mean, a lot of other Republicans have given up on spinning this government shutdown. Marjorie Taylor Green is outright saying the Republicans are at fault. A lot of representatives are still spinning their asses off, but Mike Johnson is hanging on by a threat. I'm going to leave it there.
