Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, major breaking news, the story is not being covered enough, but we now know that cuts done by Trump, by Elon Musk, and by Doge, have led directly to deaths, mainly in red states due to lack of preparedness when severe storms begin tearing through. For example, in Kentucky, you guys have likely heard about this. We've seen flooding and tornadoes and large hail, the kind of chaos where people depend on up-to-the-minute warnings from reputable sources. Well, the Trump admin has pulled that away, and it's mainly hurt their own voters. We've seen this time and time again. Just to back up, a month ago, coal miners had to head to court after Trump made cuts to black lung screening staff. Lord have mercy, there is no chance. So these workers who work in coal mines and help benefit the American people then had their ability to get free coal mining, or sorry, screenings done by the Trump admin.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Roughly two-thirds of the staff that provides free examinations for the deadly diseases, which one study says affects one in five longtime minors, was recently fired. Again, two-thirds of the staff was fired, therefore inhibiting the ability for them to do free screenings or screenings at all. Two West Virginia coal miners with black lung disease testified before a federal judge on Wednesday during a hearing on the Trump admin's decision to effectively shutter a program that provides free screenings to coal miners. It's called waste. It's called waste for an abuse. Why do we care about having a healthy populace? Obviously, I say that sarcastically. The reason why I'm talking about this coal mining story in relation to Kentucky and the storms there is because I want to take a step back and look at what's quietly happening behind the scenes while everyone is distracted by Trump's social media rants and his threats against Bono and Oprah and Bruce Springsteen, which these are important to cover. It's important to cover the president using public intimidation to threaten celebrities, but I also want to talk about this article. After cuts, a Kentucky weather office scrambles for staffing as severe storms bear down. The office in Jackson, Kentucky, is one of several left without an overnight forecaster after hundreds of jobs were recently cut from the National Weather Service. And listen to this. It's insane. Again, this is the kind of chaos where people
Starting point is 00:02:23 rely on up-to-the-minute warnings for their life. And yet the National Weather Service in Jackson, Kentucky doesn't have a single, doesn't have one full-time overnight forecaster on staff. And this led to deaths. This led directly to deaths. And just listen to this. The Trump admin fired, not 100 people, not 200 people, over 600 employees at the Weather Service.
Starting point is 00:02:48 A National Weather Service office in eastern Kentucky was scrambling to cover the overnight forecast on Friday. as severe storms as we're moving through much of the eastern United States, according to the union that represents the department's meteorologists. Tom Fahey, the legislative director for the union that represents weather service employees, said the office in Jackson, Kentucky, was one of four that no longer had a permanent overnight forecaster after hundreds of people left the agency as a result of cuts ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency, the initiative led by Elon Musk.
Starting point is 00:03:19 This is not the first time, and it likely won't be the last time, that Elon Musk's reckless cuts have led directly to deaths. Let me just back up and talk about USAID for one second. Before I do, if you made it this far in the video, please scroll down and drop a like. If you drop a blue heart and then watch until the end, that will boost the message. And people get to hear about why these cuts are harmful.
Starting point is 00:03:39 And really quickly, it has been a stressful few months. You guys have all helped me build something absolutely beautiful. So now I'm trying to work tirelessly and make sure we're ready to win when the midterms come around. That means I'm traveling a lot. I'm working a lot of late nights. I'm young, so it's fine. But there is one company that's been helping me a lot, and it's Vaya.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Whether I'm trying to focus during a long editing session in a hotel or I just want to chill after a long day, Vaya's got me covered. My personal favorite is their effect forward gummies. Super clean, no groggy side effects, and you will feel the difference. When you're slashing USA to ID, just to return back to that, you are cutting long-term
Starting point is 00:05:07 benefits that we don't see realized on a day-to-day basis. So these preventative measures taken to stop diseases from coming into the U.S., we're not going to see these cuts manifest tomorrow. I don't see it at the gas pump when I go to the store. store, but I can guarantee you having the operations to keep Ebola from spreading across the globe, that is helpful. And the same thing here. Like when Elon Musk cuts the weather service in Kentucky, nobody noticed for a few weeks
Starting point is 00:05:36 until the storms began to hit, and then it manifests in a terrifying way. Tom Fahey, the legislative director, said the office in Jackson, Kentucky was one of four that no longer had a permanent overnight newscaster. Mr. Fahey said on Friday that because of the threat for flooding, Hale and tornadoes facing eastern Kentucky, the weather service had to find forecasting help for the office. You're not supposed to have towns strained for resources. Before Elon Musk and Trump even took office,
Starting point is 00:06:05 I gave this random analogy that I made up on the spot on a live stream. And I was like, I have a feeling that there's going to be a town, for example, and they have this big dam to prevent flooding. And this dam takes money to keep up. to maintain. Elon Musk is going to cut all funding to this dam, say it's because of waste fraud and abuse, and then that town is going to get flooded, and it's going to be the most counterproductive thing ever. I said that before they took office. I also had an example of a town that had a disproportionate amount of people with disabilities. Elon Musk cuts the funding
Starting point is 00:06:37 for, you know, accessible infrastructure in that town, and it makes the town less productive. The point is, we have funding allocated towards certain areas for certain reasons. Maybe parts of the U.S. that are more prone to tornadoes should have extra funding for the weather service. Maybe not every single state should have the same amount of funding for a tornado watch, right? Does that not make sense? In the same way that it doesn't make sense for Michigan to have the same funding regarding lakes that, like, Kentucky does, because Michigan is on the border of a massive lake. Sorry, to continue.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Much of Kentucky, including a portion of the eastern section, is within the bullseye of an area under what the Storm Prediction Center calls a moderate threat of severe thunderstorms, building exactly on what I'm saying. Quote, it's very rare that we see a moderate risk in our area. So I think people are aware, said a meteorologist. By late Sunday morning, quieter weather and drier conditions are expected and will likely continue into Sunday morning. So across the administration, whether we're looking at coal miners,
Starting point is 00:07:42 people Trump promised to fight for, people Trump scammed to get their vote, whether we're talking about, you know, people in Kentucky or small businesses who rely on imports for their tariffs, all of these people are being screwed over. It is insane to me that more people aren't talking about the Trump admin firing two-thirds of the staff responsible for screening coal miners for black lung disease. Like, could you imagine if President Biden, who himself has cancer right now, could you imagine if President Biden had cut the funding for all of this infrastructure, had hurt small business owners in this way, had hurt coal miners and had caused deaths in a storm. And I just want to end this off by saying, I'm not sure I touched on this yet,
Starting point is 00:08:24 but at least 28 have died as tornadoes and thunderstorms have struck those three states. Kentucky Governor Andy Bashir reported deaths in devastated Polk County. I don't want to politicize these debts. That's the last thing that I want to do. But when you cut funding for the exact same infrastructure that warns people of storms, and then you betray the very people you swore to protect, then yeah, it's kind of on you. Kentucky Governor Andy Bashir announced Sunday afternoon that weather-related deaths in the state has risen to 19. Earlier, Bashir attributed the deaths to a single tornado initially believed to have touched down at EF3 strength overnight. Quote, we are hard at work this morning addressing the tragic damage and deaths caused by severe weather
Starting point is 00:09:07 Saturday morning. Again, maybe some of this funding was necessary when it comes to weather services, when it comes to disease prevention, when it comes to nuclear stockpile maintenance. How do you move so fast that you fire nuclear stockpile workers, rehire them, and then accidentally lay more off? It's all absolutely absurd and reckless, and that's what we need to be communicating to Trump supporters. We need to be communicating that Elon Musk is making your life less efficient. He's making his own life more efficient. He's making the government more efficient for his own businesses by slashing regulatory investigations, halting regulatory investigations while he gains money, while he consolidates power, and while Elon Musk benefits. Please do not forget that. If you want to see more Elon Musk coverage,
Starting point is 00:09:53 all that I ask is that you drop a like and subscribe below. I appreciate everybody who helps watch my channel on a day-to-day basis. I appreciate everybody who decides to spend a little bit of time with me. See you all in the next one. Peace off.
