America is currently seeing a true battle between patriotic forces versus anti-American thugs who want to walk through the streets lawlessly.
The thugs being the ICE agents who continue to vindicate the point of these protesters every single time a protest happens.
People have taken the streets to Minneapolis, people have taken to the streets in Seattle, in D.C., even in red states, in small towns, people are taking to the streets to protest ICE.
And again, every single time people take to the streets, ICE continues to overstep and prove the point that we are trying to make.
This headline just popped up in my feed, for example.
A 72-year-old couple was just pepper sprayed by law enforcement while peacefully protesting in Minneapolis.
In reading this headline, I see a battle between patriotism and between anti-American lawless thugs.
The patriots, of course, being the 72-year-old couple who, despite their age, despite the chaos going on outside,
decided to go and exercise their First Amendment rights to fight back against this regime.
Now, on the other hand, we have Border Patrol agents who are exercising their power,
their disproportionate amount of power to just hurt U.S. citizens, kill U.S. citizens,
crack the ribs of U.S. citizens.
I made a tweet just the other day where I said,
ICE under Donald Trump has more funding than some national militaries.
Masked agents operating with no identification.
They're deployed nationwide at Donald Trump's command, one person's command.
they murdered an American mother on video, broke the ribs of a 79-year-old citizen.
They pepper-sprayed elderly protesters just today.
They also pepper-sprayed high school students.
If you watched the video I made a few days back,
pastors have been shot in the head with pepper balls,
and agents continue to insist they're immune.
But if we call them the Gestapo, all of a sudden,
we are the ones who are escalating the situation, make it make sense.
Let me show you this video of the 72-year-old protesters who got interviewed right after.
There is still the orange.
of the pepper spray on your jacket Michelle and her hair too and your hair and your face and
your face just skipping Michelle what what happened to you just now we came down
here to peacefully protest because you can't be silent anymore we were standing
over to the side on the grass and gravel when a truck with flashing lights came
through so we stepped back even more when the law enforcement came out and so we
were far away from the driveway and when they came
out two of them just started shoving any of us that were standing there away from
yeah and then pushing into the crowd then started shooting pepper spray they got the woman next
me really bad I did not get it as bad it's stinging on the side but they really got her
they push you down they push you down they're just stepping the way between her and the guards
that she's seven years old come on she doesn't need to be pushed the ground so I cannot overstate
how proud I am of these beautiful patriotic Americans everybody turning out to protest
Everybody who is tuning in to watch these videos, everybody who is keeping up to date with all of the news and cares about our democracy, it's just such a beautiful sight.
I know obviously the video that I'm watching is sad and it's tragic to hear what these people went through.
But in this, I see a glimmer of hope, right?
I see two people who care so deeply about their country that, of course, they're shaken by this incident.
But they're also simultaneously, it feels like unshaken.
They're like, yeah, yeah, of course we're out here because you can't be silent.
This is exactly why you can't be silent.
So going back to my point,
ICE continues to further vindicate
any single protester with the way they're acting.
Here are protests breaking out in Midtown Manhattan.
Just massive protests of people walking.
Same thing happening in D.C.
Despite the cold, people still want to melt the ice.
And something important to point out,
something that I want to really highlight
throughout this video is that ice is making the job
of local law enforcement even harder.
It's gotten to a point where even local law enforcement
in Minneapolis is pointing out that ICE is making their job harder.
Now, I want to be clear, a lot of law enforcement agents in Minneapolis have diverse points of
view. Some of them, I'm sure, support ICE, some are against ICE. The Minneapolis Police Department,
I'm never going to claim it's perfect. It has had problems. But over the past five years,
since the murder of George Floyd, since the massive protests that sparked into riots,
they've done a lot of work to rebuild this trust, as I'll show you in just one moment,
and that is getting obliterated by ICE day by day. The Hennepinians,
County Sheriff's Office tweeted from their official account on January 9th.
Quote, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office has received hundreds of calls and emails
demanding us to open an independent investigation into the federal agent involved shooting
this week.
Now, this tweet didn't gain much traction.
It didn't go very viral, but they are indirectly calling out the FBI right here.
The FBI spiked the investigation coming out of local law enforcement.
It's gotten so bad.
It's gotten so bad that this local article reports that even the sheriff in Hennepin County,
in Minnesota is saying, dude, ice is undermining us directly.
It says, quote, over the past five years, local law enforcement agencies have worked deliberately to rebuild trust with our community in Hennepin County.
The Hennepin County Sheriff DeWana Witt said in a statement, quote, that trust has been significantly undermined by the federal government's deployment of ICE agents in uniforms that prominently display the word police, creating confusion and fear across our communities.
I mean, think about that list that I just read of the actions ICE has taken just over the past few months.
How are you supposed to rebuild trust with local law enforcement when you have ICE agents coming out with badges that say police or ICE,
basically confusing everybody, creating mass confusion.
People already have trouble distinguishing among the region's police departments in Minneapolis alone,
since different agencies oversee the parks, the university, the transit system.
and it's creating even more confusion between local authorities.
This is why Congresswoman Ayanna Presley said,
in the oversight Dems this week,
she moved to subpoena all records and footage related to Renee Nicole Goode's murder.
Every Republican voted this down.
Now, the FBI has blocked Minnesota officials from conducting an independent investigation,
and it gets much, much worse.
The ICE director, Lyons, then tried to intimidate a Philadelphia sheriff
who took a stance against illegal criminal acts coming from.
from ICE. And I want you to notice in this video that the Philadelphia sheriff is very intentionally, particularly talking about people who commit crimes.
In this video, she says, if you want to come into our town and commit a crime, then you are going to face the consequences.
That's important to point out.
So I'm with the DA, and we will work with them. If any of them want to come in this city and commit a crime, you will not be able to hide.
Nobody will whisk you off. You don't want this smoke.
because we will bring it to you and the fake whatever they call them because I can't put I
can't say the name but the criminal in the White House would not be able to keep you
from going to jail. Benet Good should be here today and to her family we are saying
law enforcement professionals are not the ones here in this city
that would do that.
But here's the last thing that I would say.
Law enforcement professionals around the country do their job.
And we had been fighting for years to build that bridge between us and our communities.
She is absolutely, absolutely right.
And here is what Republicans seem to miss.
A lot of Democrats would have been willing to coordinate in a common sense manner
with ICE earlier on in Trump's term.
Even J.B. Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, said, listen, we've been coordinating with Biden.
We've been working with Biden's ICE, his DHS. We're willing to coordinate with you guys as well.
But Trump opted out of that safe coordination, decided to take the more dangerous route, mobilized not only ICE, but then surge the National Guard into Illinois against the explicit objection of Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson.
Then he threatened to arrest Governor J.B. Pritzker because J.B. Pritzker didn't want the National Guard in Illinois.
So again, they are opting out of the safe, cautious path, and they are taking the most dangerous escalatory path possible, as proven in this video right here where the ICE director, Lyons, then responds to the video of the sheriff I just showed you and says, my message to the sheriff is, if you try and arrest my folks, let's see what happens.
Is this dumbass trying to start a civil war?
Because this sheriff said if ICE commits any crimes in my area, they'll be arrested.
I'm sorry, but you should also be stopping your ICE agents, Mr. Lyons, from committing crimes.
You should be on the same pages.
That you, this increased rhetoric is what's causing the issues right now.
You can't pit a local law enforcement officer against a federal law enforcement officer.
We are out there trying to do a lawful law enforcement mission.
And this rhetoric right here is pure example of what we're facing every day.
And, you know, I'm not one for like big, you know, banter or bluster, but my message to the sheriff is try it.
Try it. Try arrest my folks. Let's see what happens.
Try and arrest my folks. Let's see what happens. That is incredibly escalatory and reckless coming from the ICE director.
I want to bring in our lead policy advisor, Micah Irfan, to break down further the problem with ICE and they're overstepping.
Micah, how you doing today?
I'm doing well, Adam. I'm glad to see all the Americans that are currently rising up around this country.
against ICE's abuse. You mentioned earlier that law enforcement leaders, local law enforcement
leaders are speaking out against ICE. And I think what people need to realize is that most local
law enforcement agencies, they want to keep people safe, right, especially in blue cities. And they
understand that there's one danger, which is criminals. And there's another danger, which is criminal
ICE agents. Just because ICE agents have a badge does not mean they're not criminal thugs.
If you want to keep your city safe, you need to keep ICE very far away. It
least under this administration. I absolutely agree. And I like when Democrats take a common sense
stance around the police. Honestly, I think defund the police as a slogan is pretty dumb. It's bad
optics. And it's just not a pragmatic way to operate in any sort of big city or anywhere. But
reforming the police, building trust between the police and the local communities is paramount.
And we would never claim on the show that the police are perfect. They are far from perfect.
But at least in the case of Minneapolis, Minnesota, we have heard report after report of the local police working their asses off to build trust in a post-George Floyd Minneapolis in this just being crumbled, shattered immediately by ICE.
Not to mention, ICE then spikes the investigation, or at least the ability for Minneapolis investigators to collaborate in an investigation, only further inflaming the tensions that we see.
So I like the way you put it right there.
We should be arresting criminal thugs off the street.
I agree. If somebody's committing crimes, arrest them, but that includes criminals with a badge.
That includes people who are overstepping, abusing their power, cracking the ribs of elderly men, pepper spraying elderly couples, shooting U.S. citizens.
The idea that these people should have any sort of immunity, complete immunity or absolute immunity that keep using all these terms, is totally BS.
I want to ask you, Michael, what do you think Republicans are getting wrong about this immigration debate?
I mean, they're getting everything wrong.
But, like, we were talking the other day about how they're missing some key things here, right?
I mean, they're just taking a losing position and then getting mad at Americans for being upset with them, right?
They're trying to defend every single ICE action, which no reasonable person would do.
There's over 1,500 documented cases of sexual abuse by ICE agents, yet the Republican Party refuses to acknowledge that ICE agents can do anything wrong, right?
We just saw another video come out today of an ICE agent pushing a woman into an outhouse,
and going into the outhouse with her, presumably for some inappropriate activity.
I don't see how that could ever be justified.
And what J.D. Vance says is that they have absolute immunity,
which means if we do discover that that ice agent raped this woman,
just like we did with another ice agent, we found out he raped a Honduran woman over the course
of three months.
If we do find out there was actual rape or sexual abuse going on, guess what?
According to J.D. Vance, that's work on the job and he can't be prosecuted.
They're trying to defend basically a criminal organization.
filled with violent, untrained people abusing Americans' liberties every single day. And that's just
not where most Americans at. Here's where most Americans are. They support legal immigrants.
They support people coming to this country that want to assimilate, that want to make our economy better,
that love this country. And they also understand that some people come here for asylum. There's a lot of
people in the world that are not safe. And we want a system that processes asylum claims so we keep the
people that really came here to seek asylum and we get out the criminals, the people that don't
really need to be here. What is ICE doing though? Ix is targeting the actual asylum seekers.
We're not giving anybody a fair day in court. Right now, we have a racist immigration policy.
Probably the only nation in the world, which actually has a race-based immigration policy.
We take refugees from one country and one country only, South Africa.
Wait, only the white refugees, though.
That's what I was going to say. And we take only one type of race from South Africa. That's white people.
How could you possibly do that?
Only if you have a racist immigration policy.
And so they've gotten completely out of the mainstream.
And of course, people are going to be upset with ICE whenever it's targeting legal immigrants,
whenever it's targeting people that are going through the asylum process,
and now when it's targeting American citizens.
But here's the context that everybody needs to understand.
This immigration problem is not one that they're just trying to solve in a bad way.
It's a problem that they created.
Barack Obama put in place a immigration proposal in front of the Republican Party and the Republican Senate that would have fixed our immigration system.
It would have hired more immigration judges.
It would have kept the criminals out.
It was bipartisan.
It was a good compromise.
And the Republicans rejected it.
Why?
Because they wanted this problem.
They wanted the problem to get worse and worse and worse so they could create a fascistic paramilitary organization because that's what ICE is in order not to keep Americans safe, not
to fix the immigration problem, but to subjugate Americans to their rule. And that's what's happening
right now. Very well said, even on the topic of Obama, he notoriously deported a lot of people.
But even his ICE, even his interior enforcement was nowhere near Trump. So Obama was actually
similarly effective to Donald Trump. Like Donald Trump isn't even deporting more people than Obama in a
significant way. But even under Obama, no one had their ribs crack. No one was killed. No one was
deported to a different country and then brought back to the United States and then subsequently
targeted and politically persecuted in the way that Kilmar, Armando Obrego Garcia is, Obama had
a strong immigration policy. Honestly, Obama's immigration policy should have been recreated by Biden.
Biden kind of dropped the ball on that, which paved the way for Donald Trump, in my opinion.
But even with Obama's record on immigration, it was nowhere near what Trump is doing.
Trump is trying to increase his power by sending rogue agents out of the streets that just
follow his commands and are essentially immune.
