All right, breaking news, not only has a Trump administration official come out and admitted that Elon Musk's doge cuts are dangerous, are reckless, and are harmful to society, but we also have Bill Gates now warning that the doge cuts will cause, quote, millions of deaths.
And let me remind you, it's very important to remind you a few things.
Number one, Elon Musk should be nowhere near power.
You shouldn't be able to buy your way into power like that.
But number two, he did it because he claimed he was going to save $2 trillion, but then he lowered that to $1 trillion.
Then they recently came out and said that they saved $150 billion, but if you actually look into it, Doge's only public ledger was riddled with mistakes.
The figures from Elon Musk's team of outsiders, raised this article, represents billions in government cuts, but they're also full of accounting errors, outdated data, and other miscalculations.
They claim they've saved $55 billion, but if you look through the wall of receipts, some of the contracts had expired years ago or had already been paid to completion.
So this brings me back to Bill Gates warning that Elon Musk's doge cuts will cause millions of debts.
Bill Gates is calling out fellow tech billionaire Elon Musk over cuts made to U.S. government spending
because, dude, if his doge teenagers can't even accurately update the public ledger,
how are they going to try to gut U.S. aid and not have any consequences?
Again, Bill Gates is calling out fellow tech billionaire Elon Musk over cuts made to the U.S. government spending
under his watch to the Department of Government Efficiency,
saying the gutting of the U.S. Agency for International Development
would lead to millions of deaths around the world.
And if you don't believe him, remember in 2014, Bill Gates did a whole TED talk,
an entire TED talk called The Next Outbreak, We're Not Ready.
Bill Gates has a lot of readily available information, statistics about viruses,
and about humanity, and about vaccines.
And he said in this thing, in 2014, he said,
a virus will come someday in the near future,
and humanity won't really be ready for it because we don't have the protocols in place.
It's been over 100 years, and he was right.
He was incredibly right, so this brings us back to this.
This warning comes after the Trump admin took steps to dismantle USAID and halt its foreign assistance mission,
with Musk bragging about feeding the agency to the, quote, Woodchipper.
In the week since, many nonprofits have grappled with canceled contracts or sporadic payments,
although some have since been restored amid warnings from eight organizations
about the potentially deadly consequences of cutting the funding.
But even temporarily pausing the funding,
is still incredibly harmful and dangerous.
Like, imagine the funding to keep Ebola from spreading, to stop it from spreading.
This requires a lot of maintenance, a lot of upkeep, cleaning, a lot of cleaning.
So if you stop that for a week, then you allow the spread to grow.
Quote, when Elon went into government, if his thing really was about efficiency or using AI,
you know, of course we need to make the government more efficient.
If that's what it had been, then it's a praiseworthy thing to put his time and expertise into.
Gates said an interview with CNN's Farid Zakaria.
Quote, the fact that it turned into these slashing people, I didn't expect that, and some of them should be put back in place.
Gates added that the world is in a, quote, global health emergency because of spending cuts to health programs by the U.S. and European governments.
The Microsoft co-founder comments came after he announced on Thursday plans to give away $200 billion, including virtually all of his personal wealth, through the Gates Foundation over the next 20 years before closing the organization on acceleration of his previous spending plans.
The decision was motivated in part, he said, by concerns that progress on improving global health is stagnating or even reversing.
Quote, I think if you show up and say, in two months, you can cut $2 trillion out of a $7 trillion budget, you're not going to succeed, Kate said.
So you go for the softest things and things that are overseas, things you can mischaracterize, people that he hasn't spent any time with.
Gates criticized, for example, Musk's false claim that in February, the U.S. government was spending $50 billion on Gaza, or condoms for Gaza, which Musk later admitted.
it was incorrect. He also denounced
Musk's negative characterizations of USAID
workers, whom Musk has previously
called radical lunatics and anti-American.
Now, we'll continue this article,
but even Secretary
Sean Duffy, Secretary of Transportation
Sean Duffy, is saying
similar things. And if Elon Musk's
doge cuts were done en masse, especially regarding
transportation, it would be fatal.
But, but I want to talk about Doge for a
second. Okay, I know there's been a lot
of people get, there's been
some freak out, there's been some concern, there's
been a lot of emotion and I would just tell you do I want to make our government more efficient
do I want to be able to do a little more with with a little less because then I put more money
into the great work that we do yeah I I want to do that but you can't do that without good people
right and and so though I want us to be more efficient I also look and as I think of doge cutting
things I don't know about that elsewhere but we actually build things here
Right? You can't cut your way to a new road. You can't cut your way to a new bridge. You can't cut your way into a new air traffic control system. So we're actually going to build in this department. And if...
I mean, I don't like Sean Duffy, but that's true. You can't cut things with transportation in that department. You have to build. You have to build roads. You have to build everything. And Elon Musk's slash and burn style would make everything way more dangerous. He is a political liability in every sense. That is why.
Suzy Wiles and other Trump admin officials have been trying to distance Elon Musk from the admin
by saying, again, he is a, quote, political liability.
One person said, Elon Musk is the, quote, most irritating person I've ever had to deal with.
This is coming, again, from a Trump official.
The Trump officials got pretty annoyed because Elon Musk, this article says, is rapidly overstaying his
welcome at the White House, according to senior Trump admin officials.
The CEO of Tesla in X, formerly Twitter, is getting on everyone's nerves as the so-called
Doge tears through the federal governments, and a lot of people say that he's like a crazy
uncle Elon, because this dude is constantly making unfunny jokes, making terrible jokes, being
kind of embarrassing, and apparently he's really like kind of an asshole behind the scenes.
If I don't, and you don't all build with me, the president's going to come back in probably
four months and go, where are the roads, where are the bridges, where's the airspace revamp,
and he's going to give us a very hard time.
Again, that was Sean Duffy.
Let's go back to this.
Other than the military, these are about as honorable.
And, you know, they're the face of America to people who want to be alive with us.
He's talking about people that work with USAID.
Bill Gates calls them heroes, quote, demonizing them is deeply unfair.
The Gates Foundation has spent more than $100 billion since this founding in 2000,
partnering with government agencies and other nonprofits globally to tackle major health challenges.
The org's work has included developing new vaccines,
diagnostic tools, and treatment delivery mechanisms to fight disease around the world.
What a great use of wealth.
A lot of people say that they don't think anybody should ever be able to be a billionaire.
I actually disagree with that.
I think that Bill Gates having this money and using it to better the world is a good thing.
Now, let me draw the distinction.
Wealth and equality is the bad thing.
Wealth inequality is the bad thing.
The people at the top shouldn't have a ceiling, but there should be a floor for people at the bottom, in my opinion.
So the equality is not that bad.
A representative for Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but it's not the first time Gates and Musk have feuded over philanthropy.
In 2022, Gates visited Musk in an effort to convince the Tesla CEO to increase his giving, but the meeting went sideways after Musk called Gates, an asshole, according to the Musk biography by Walter Isaacson, for which he spoke to both billionaires.
In the interview with Zakaria, Gates also raised concerns about other White House actions, including Trump's tariff policies.
The big concern I have is we've created a lot of uncertainty, Gates said.
If you're going to build a new factory, you need to understand the policies for the next 20 years, not just for the next two days or even four years.
That's the point I've been making a lot.
If you want outside capital investment, you need certainty and predictability in the economy.
Trump's doing the opposite, and I'll leave it at that.
Make sure you drop a like.
