your ambition. All right, I've got a special video for you all today. I want to show you the moment
that Fox News was forced to report on Trump's entire tariff regime collapsing in one moment.
Now, for a quick breakdown, Trump's tariffs, the main Liberation Day tariffs, only went into
effect on August 7th because Trump kept delaying and delaying them. When they did go into effect,
he was relying on the Emergency Economic Powers Act. He was basically declaring a global economic
emergency and the court said this is entirely illegal. Fox had to break this and this entire thing
has been a complete mess. We're being isolated on the global stage. This reads, since Mr. Trump
singled out India with an unexpectedly draconian double dose of tariffs, he has reportedly phoned the
Indian Prime Minister four times each time the Indian leader refused to pick up. At the same time, India is
looking to mend its ties with China as the Trump tariffs are pushing it away from the US in
creating a new global order of countries that dislike the United States. And here's the thing.
The tariffs on India, Trump claims, are to stop it from buying Russian oil. But that hasn't happened.
It hasn't worked. A lot of people speculate that it's actually because Trump wants India to nominate
him for a Nobel Peace Prize. The largest tariff that we currently have right now is not on China,
or India. It's on Brazil. It's on Brazil because he's trying to protect his dictator friend
Bolsonaro. It should also be a bigger story, this tweet reads, that most of the world has stopped
shipping packages to the United States entirely because of Trump's tariffs. All of these countries have
just stopped shipments to the United States. A lot of small goods are no longer going to be shipped
to the United States. Let's break down this Fox News clip, but then I'm going to bring in our new
lead policy advisor, Micah Irfod, and he's going to blow your mind with some
tariff facts. Watch until the end, drop a like, and let's check out this clip right here.
Breaking tonight, just moments ago, actually, a federal appeals court ruled most of President
Trump's tariffs are illegal. The court is saying the president exceeded his authority
in imposing those levies. There's a catch, though, in this ruling. Correspondent David Spunt
has details tonight, breaking just minutes ago. Good evening, David.
Brett, good evening. The catch is that the tariffs can stay in place until October 14th. That's when the mandate from the circuit court, the federal circuit court appeals decision actually kicks in. This was a 127-page decision that just came down within the last 30 minutes. We're reading it, but it finds that most of the president's tariffs are unconstitutional. This was published to the public docket, as I said, within the last few minutes. Now, the panel found that the tariffs on nearly every country were not
authorized bred by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and therefore are illegal.
The court, writing today unanimously the statute bestows significant authority on the president
to undertake a number of actions in response to a declared national emergency.
But none of these actions explicitly include the power to impose tariffs, duties, or the like
or the power to tax.
Now, arguments were recently held in Washington, D.C.
This gives the administration the green light to go directly here to the U.S. Supreme
court, which we expect to happen very soon. And I have some big news for you all today. I am proud to
introduce the new lead policy advisor for Machler Media. His name is Micah Irfan. Micah is a first
year law student at the University of Virginia, which is the number one public law school in America.
And he's here to bring the truth. You know, right wing media has been carpet bombing everyone's
feeds with lies, lies, lies. And at Machler Media, we want to be a beacon of truth, of real
policy and of raw facts. So Mike is going to come in. He's going to help me prepare for debates,
whether I'm on CNN or I'm debating some MAGA lunatic. We need the facts on our side.
He's going to help write for the substack at Adam Machler.com. And he's going to help us bring the
facts in videos. So Micah, how you doing today, man? I'm super happy to be here. Hell yeah.
We are building Machler media brick by brick because of you all. Today we want to talk a little
bit about tariffs. Micah, can you explain how much of a failure these tariffs have been so far?
So, yeah, as of August 7th, there's tariffs on every single country in the world.
Tariffs as high as 50% on countries like Brazil, Switzerland, something like 38%, 40%.
And it's having a terrible effect on the American economy.
They told us that other countries would pay the tariffs for us.
But we're actually looking at the economic data now.
And we see that American businesses are paying the tariffs.
Producer price inflation, which measures basically how much businesses are paying for their goods and services,
is at the highest level, growing at the highest level since 2022.
And we're seeing products across the board, consumer electronics, going up in price.
If you want to get a gaming console today, every single major gaming console in America has gone up in price at a minimum of $50 for some consoles over $100.
That makes a real difference in working Americans lives.
And an argument that they always give, Republicans always give, is that this will drive up manufacturing employment, that there will be more manufacturing in the U.S.
United States. Are we seeing that at all? Not at all, actually. So in this first part of the Trump
administration, we've seen 28,000 manufacturing jobs go away, be destroyed. Meanwhile, by this point
in the Biden administration, we'd actually gained 204,000 manufacturing jobs. If you want to gain
manufacturing jobs, you should be doing the Biden agenda, not the disastrous Trump agenda,
which is raising costs for our manufacturers, making them uncompetitive and ultimately,
killing American jobs. And the Biden agenda was what passing actual policy through Congress that
helped incentivize manufacturing in America. The Trump policy are these weird unilateral
tariffs done via the executive branch that make no sense. Is that fair to say? Right. Mine's idea was
why don't we invest capital into American manufacturers to help them become more competitive? Why don't
we try to open up more markets so they have more places to sell their products? And why don't we create more
demand from the U.S. government to support the expansion of their supply chains. Meanwhile,
with Trump, he's just raising prices for everything they have to buy. Since when was raising
prices in taxes on American companies, something that would help grow them, that doesn't make
any sense. And that's why every single economist in this country that is worth their weight
in, you know, in academia completely opposes this agenda. Any economists that's worth their weight
in tariffs? No, it's a terrible, terrible idea. One final question.
Can you explain the on-the-ground effects to the average American family who doesn't have $500 for an emergency?
The average family doesn't have $500 for an emergency.
What happens when the price of food begins to rise at a rapid pace?
We know a very large percentage of the American population doesn't even have $500 in savings, right?
They struggle to go to the doctor because they can't afford their co-pays and to pay towards their deductible.
And so whenever we see, for instance, coffee prices surging $14.5.
Some car models going up 11.4%. Steel, which is part of everything, going up in 16%. There was a survey by CNBC of Walmart products where after Walmart announced that it was raising prices, they basically surveyed their products to see if that was actually happening. Some Walmart products went up in price as high as much as 51%. This is catastrophic. And keep in mind, most of the tariffs have only been in effect since August 7. It has
hasn't even been a full month. This is wreaking financial havoc on Americans. A lot of them who
voted for Trump because they thought that he would help them whenever they were just struggling
to get by financially, it's only going to get much worse, unfortunately. And that is a key,
key point that you made there. I don't want to gloss over it. When you said that the tariffs only
took effect on August 7th, it's something that a lot of people don't understand. So Trump announced
these massive Liberation Day tariffs back in April. It was April 2nd to be.
be exact. We all remember the stock market crashing. Then roughly a week later, exactly,
actually, on April 9th, he paused those Liberation Day tariffs for about 90 days. So everyone
was under the assumption. Everybody is under the assumption that we've been sitting under these
massive tariffs and we haven't seen inflation, but that's not the reality. The tariffs have actually
not gone into effect. They just went into effect on August 7th, which depending on when you're
watching this video, was about, you know, 15 days ago. It was about two weeks ago. That
means that the tariff effects, the massive tariff effects have not begun yet, right?
Yeah, yeah.
And the products where they have begun are the products that have their inventory moving
the fastest, right?
Some things like cars, it takes a long time for us to cycle a new inventory.
But in food where we're seeing a lot of the most inflation, that's the kind of stuff
that is being hit by the tariffs.
And so there's a ton of products where we haven't seen the effect yet.
And even the minor effect that we've seen thus far is a catastrophic one for many American
families. I want people to understand this. Trump's tariffs are not just targeting countries that
have done something wrong to us that treat us unfairly. Everybody believes that we should make
sure that countries treat us fairly when it comes to trade. But right now, Trump's tariff policy
imposes higher tariffs on Switzerland, a country that is 99.5% of American products had zero
tariff. They don't impose any tariff on 99.5% of American products. There's a higher tariff on
Switzerland, then China, which is the country that everyone always wants to talk about, because
they do treat us unfairly.
What is the reasoning there?
How can somebody possibly support this kind of agenda that attacks our allies while actually
being nicer to our worst enemies?
It doesn't make any sense.
Well, listen, if you made it this far in the video and you appreciate the policy analysis,
I want you to comment, hey, Micah, in the comment section.
And this is what I'm truly excited for.
