Hello and welcome to a brand new edition of Ariel and Ade right here on the undisputed
global home of boxing DAZN aka DAZN.
I'm Ariel Hawani inside our New York City studio.
It's a beautiful day.
This city on fire.
Game four coming up of the NBA Eastern Conference
finals between my New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. So I am revved and ready to go. I am
excited. I am pumped. We are alive. We are back and we got a lot of boxing to discuss. No time to
waste. We head over to London town to say hello to my co-pilot, the one and only Ade Oladipo, yeah.
Mr. Queensberry himself.
I mean, he's at every Queensberry, he's like the face.
No?
One second, one second.
I feel like you're like-
I'm Mr. Boxing.
You're the Mr. Boxing. Mr. Dazon, Mr. Dazon.
I'm fair in equal measure to Queensberry, to Matron,
to whoever wants to pay me the big bucks.
Yes.
I will give you the best show I can give you, that's it.
Open for biz. Open for business, open for business. Mercenary for bucks. Yes. I will give you the best show I can give you. That's it. Open for business.
Open for business. Mercenary for hire. Yeah. That's what I am. How's Scotland? Yeah. Amazing.
Honestly loved it. It was actually my first time going to the Hydro Arena. Never been there before.
And obviously, we'll talk about Josh Taylor a bit later, but with Josh Taylor losing,
I don't know when we're going to go back there because it's a big arena. They're going to need someone that, you know, can almost take the baton from Josh Taylor.
There was a kid called Nathaniel Collins on the card.
He could be that guy in a couple of years time, but it is disappointing that there aren't
that many big superstars coming through in Scotland.
No Ricky Burns type, no Josh Taylor type.
So hopefully Nathaniel Collins can be that guy in sort of 12 to 18 months, but no I enjoyed it
At a fried Mars bar, you know done all the traditional things you're supposed to do when you go to Scotland
Was gonna wear a kilt but you know, I didn't shave my legs off or we'll leave that alone
So yeah, it's good day. Is that a thing in Scotland? Like are they known for fried Mars bars and
Specifically Mars bars or is it just fried? No, no, no. Fried Mars bars. Fried Mars bars.
Why that? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's I don't know, but it was disgusting. Yeah.
What is it? It was horrible.
Is there like a thick batter around it?
Yeah, yeah, there's a thick batter around it and it's deep fried.
And, you know, they and the thing is they want to see you eat it.
I was like, yeah, thank you.
You know, I was like, I'm just going to throw it in the trash.
Yeah. And they're like, no, no, no, thank you. You know, I was like, I'm just gonna throw it in the trash.
And they're like, no, no, no, go ahead.
Go on out there.
And I was like, I will later.
And they're like, no, no.
So I did it in front of them and I nearly puked.
Did you eat the whole thing?
It was, of course I didn't.
Okay, all right.
Literally just one bite.
And I was like, this is a disgrace.
I'm not even a fan of Mars bars, let alone a fried one.
That's a weird one.
It's a weird one, dude.
It's a weird one.
Mr. Health Conscious himself eating fried margaritas
before a show.
Exactly, exactly.
Disastrous situation.
We'll be talking about a different kind of food
later on today because I am very, very excited about this.
I am very excited.
I've been buzzing on the chat.
I don't think everyone shares my enthusiasm
about our segment coming up later,
but I think you will once it's all said and done
because there's been a lot of talk, obviously Canelo's fighting Crawford later on this year.
We presume it seems like probably sort of yes, kind of.
Anyway, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are fighting.
In a way just fought. Usyk's fighting in July.
So there's a lot of pound for pound talk always and it's a great time for pound for pound lists and banter.
And so I said on the group chat, I was like,
you know what, we should present our
pound for pound lists.
We haven't done that yet.
We've done almost 26 or 27 episodes.
Let's do our own.
And then as I was thinking of it, I was like,
you know what, everyone kind of has the same
top 10 pound for pound fighters on their
respective lists.
Maybe not one through 10, exactly the same, but if you pound fighters on their respective list.
Maybe not one through 10, exactly the same, but if you don't have one guy at one,
he's at two, if not three, and then six is seven, right?
It's all pretty much the same fighters.
There's a couple of stragglers on the back end, but for the most part,
it's all the same.
And so I said, this is actually not going to be all that interesting.
Let's do something a little different. And then I thought of our top 10 popcorn fighters,
our must-see TV fighters, regardless of weight class,
regardless of gender, who are the 10 fighters competing right now today
in the sweet science of the sport of boxing,
who you say no matter what I'm doing, you're at a wedding,
you're on the road, you're traveling, you're at home,
you must stop everything and watch these fighters compete.
Your top 10 must-see fighters, because ultimately that's what counts the most, right?
The fighters that make you want to stop everything and watch them compete will be presenting
our own, we haven't seen each other's list, will present our own top 10 popular fighters.
Can you 100% confirm you've not seen my list?
1000%.
Because I've said it's one of your producers.
I don't want to see it. And I'm a've sent it to one of your producers. I don't wanna see it.
I'm a bit concerned that you kind of
maybe asked for a little preview.
I specifically told you not to send it to me
because I want to react in real time.
Yeah, but you're telling me,
but I don't know if you're being genuine to me.
You are, you did tell me.
No, no.
Okay, okay, cool.
I'm being genuine.
Not only am I being genuine,
I predicted that you're gonna try to hit me
with like a hipster pick or two.
Oh yeah, I saw this guy 2-0 at York Hall.
Oh my God, if you don't know about him, if you're missing out on him,
if you're not stopping everything that you're doing to watch this guy,
you're gonna hit me with one of those.
That's my prediction.
I can't wait to see if it's number one or number five.
I've got my 10 and I feel like I could change it live on air,
but I'm gonna stick with the 10 I've got later on.
I think, by the way, fantastic segment. Honestly, a great idea. We haven't done it yet. I'm tired of change it live on air, but I'm going to stick with the 10 I've got later on. I think, by the way, fantastic segment.
Honestly, a great idea.
We haven't done it yet.
I'm tired of pound for pound rankings.
As you say, everyone's got the same top five.
Everyone's got the same top 10 really.
So I'm tired of those.
They're nonsense.
This is the new thing.
Everyone's going to start doing this after this show.
I can see it.
All right.
Well, I look forward to that.
Also coming up on the program, Fabio Wardley, who will be competing on June 7th
against Justice Hooney. He was supposed to fight of course, Jarrell Miller. They had
a crazy press conference, not to be incomes Hooney. They're fighting June 7th, Portman
Road, home of the relegated Ipswich town. He'll join us to talk about all of that and
more. Yeah, you know, there I am dropping knowledge, but Ade, we do have to begin today's program with a very very
heavy heart we heard the the awful news late last week that the 25 years young
Georgia O'Connor a 3-0 boxer who was competing under the boxer promotional
label had passed away after a very short bout with cancer she revealed back in
January that she had been diagnosed
and just shocking, unfortunate, heartbreaking news.
She won gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games,
a silver at the 2017 Youth World Championships represented.
Of course, her home country of England,
also a bronze medal at the 2018 youth world championships, um, an outpouring
of, of just posts, messages, support for her
and her family.
She recently got married here's, uh, Ben
Shalom, of course, the founder of boxer posting
on social media.
It's hard to make sense of this.
A lot goes on in life, but nothing else matters
other than your family and your health.
My heart goes out to George's parents and
partner and
Sorry, I just met who I know did everything they could tirelessly and are going through so much right now
Georgia was an inspirational person and one I'll never forget so sorry for her family and all her friends truly
Heartbreaking also boxer posting this on social media We are heartbroken by the passing of Georgia O'Connor, a true warrior inside and outside the
ring.
The Box community has lost a talented,
courageous and determined young woman far too
soon.
Georgia was loved, respected and admired by her
friends here at Boxer.
Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this
difficult time.
I know you had a chance to meet her a couple
times in passing.
I know you're, you're on the scene over there in the UK
Your thoughts on the passing of Georgia Conrad just 25 years young
sad honestly just sad
you're right I've spoken to a few people and
All of them heartbroken the outpouring of emotion as you just rightly said
No, not just from sort of in the boxing circles within sort
of the UK, but I think this has now gone worldwide.
I think everyone can understand what her family must be going through, or at least try and
understand what the family must be going through.
It must be incredibly difficult.
This is a young lady who announced she had received the tragic news that she is suffering
from cancer and it's terminal in January.
And here we are now fast forward to May and she's lost her life.
As you say, she's only 25 years of age, just got going in her boxing career.
A fantastic amateur who everyone was excited about turning pro.
I remember hearing about her turning pro and everyone was excited about her turning pro.
Ben Shalom has always been excited about her just because she was always outspoken,
always smiling, somewhat controversial, which was always good.
She had an incredible record, not just in boxing, but in kickboxing and taekwondo.
So she was the real deal.
Um, and then this, and then we get the news of this and, you know,
I spoke to a few people that have interviewed her and they always said that
she was always bright and bubbly and just always, even when she got the news that she was terminally ill,
was always saying, no, she's going to fight through this.
Didn't believe the diagnosis at the time because you wouldn't, would you?
You'd be shocked and scared, but you'd think, you know what, I'm going to fight through
this.
And she did fight, but ultimately unfortunately passed away last week. There was a Queensbury show, as we said at the top of the show last week in Scotland.
And you know, the whole arena in unison went silent when Thomas Stryber said, okay, let's
give it a moment silence.
The whole arena went silent.
And then everyone stood to applaud what has been an awful sort of news in the boxing world and in the boxing
community is one where everyone comes together when things like this happen. I do believe there
is a GoFundMe page that's been started and I know everyone will go in there and donate
to help with funeral costs and anything else but yeah honestly just heartbreaking, heart breaking.
25 years young as you correctly said, it's
just your life just got going. And then this happened. So yeah, awful news condolences
to her family, her friends, her new partner. And hopefully, hopefully we can beat this.
Again, it's, I mean, I feel like everyone watching this right now has lost someone to cancer and the fight goes on and hopefully sort of this can
kickstart the fight to continue again. If anyone's lost hope, this can kickstart
it to continue again. But yeah, look, tragic news.
Yeah, thank you for that. Just awful to see. And especially when you go back to
her social media and read some of the things that she was writing over the last
few months about how frustrated she was being misdiagnosed, maybe not being taken care of the way she wanted
to, just very, very, very, very tough to read. So again, our thoughts, our love, all our prayers
go to the family of Georgia O'Connor and anyone who knew her and anyone who supported her and anyone
who was a close friend and family member.
Just, I can't imagine what they're going through
and just wanna say once again that we do this show
with a very, very hard, very, very happy heart, excuse me.
It's always very hard to transition
from something like that, from something so serious
like that, but we do our best and we talk about
some other breaking news that happened earlier today. How
about Delicious Ori, who's just 1-0 now as a pro fighter. There was a big to-do about who he would
sign with. He represented Team GB at the 2024 Games in Paris. There was some talk of maybe going
the WWE route. There was some talk that he would sign with other promotional outfits. He ended up
signing with Queensberry, had a successful debut.
Out of nowhere announces that he is retiring from boxing.
One of the most shocking retirements
in the history of the sport, after much reflection he wrote,
"'I've decided to hang up my gloves and retire from boxing
"'to follow up on my degree and enter the corporate world.'"
Initially when I heard this, I thought perhaps,
all right, maybe he's going back to the WWE route.
Maybe he had a change of heart, but it sounds he's going completely
out of the combat sports world.
This sport he continued has given me so much incredible memories,
unforgettable experiences, traveling the world and many opportunities to represent
my country at the biggest of stages in the world, forever grateful for the journey.
Over time, I've come to recognize that the same fire and love I once had for boxing has gradually faded.
As I've grown, I've come to value clarity and honesty with myself above all.
I hope that turning professional would reignite the passion,
but the truth has become clear.
It hasn't.
Every fighter knows you need a deep love for the craft to reach the top.
And without it, there is no path forward out of respect for the sport of myself.
It's time to step away with honesty.
Your reaction to this, Hade?
Shocked.
Honestly, shocked.
When I saw it, I initially just saw a photo of Delicious and it was kind of doing the
rounds in social media.
So I just assumed there was an announcement coming of another fight because I was at his
first fight and we were told to kind of give it the big push as well.
I interviewed him on stage.
He came and spoke to me and I was like, it's fantastic that we've not lost you to
WWE because I know he went over to the Performance Center and I think he tried
out.
So I was like, it's good that we've not lost you.
He's got the stature of a fully-fledged heavyweight.
He speaks well as a good-looking kid.
You mentioned his amateur record there, fantastic amateur. Commonwealth Games gold medallist, European medallist,
lost by a split in the Olympics to the eventual winner. So no shame in that either. And as you
say, there was a big kind of push and pull as to who's going to sign him. I mean, this is how
highly he's fought off. In the end, he went with Frank Warren, who's got an incredible heavyweight stable and I thought, okay, this
is it.
This is going to be the next heavyweight.
This potentially could be a guy that fights Moses, the Talmud down the line.
This is the guy that could be fighting for world titles.
Everyone speaks of him that highly.
But what he said in that sort of piece you read there, I think is important.
And he spoke about honesty.
That's obviously within that's to himself.
And if you're not in this sport 100%, this is the wrong sport to try and dip your toes in
and not give it 100%. It's a dangerous sport and you're going to be up against guys that are giving
it 100% and you're cheating yourself, you're cheating the fans, you're cheating your trainers.
So there's no point. But it is disappointing. I'm hoping that you know in a year's time
There's a bit of a u-turn. You'll only be 28, but I think he's made the right decision if he's kind of made it for himself
Incredibly brave incredibly courageous after one fight you're getting money now, right? You're getting paid. You're a pro
Some people might say like let me let me go to five. Let me just try this out
You know what I mean to say after one one fight, one successful fight, mind you,
I'm done, I don't wanna go down this path.
Ariel, you know what?
Ariel, sorry to cut across you.
I actually spoke to him after his first fight
and it wasn't the best performance.
I know he was super disappointed.
I actually made a beeline for him as he left the ring.
I thought I'm gonna go and speak to him
because I understand in your first profile
as a heavyweight you wanna get a knockout.
And he was trying, he was trying, but it wasn't there.
I could see the disappointment all over his face.
He was next to his manager.
And I was like, dude, no, no, no, look, it happens.
I mean, you'll come back again.
The most important thing is a win.
But I could see the disappointment in his face.
It was there, he couldn't hide it.
And maybe that was the turning point. Maybe it was just. It was, he couldn't hide it. And maybe that
was the turning point. Maybe it was just, I can't be bothered to do this.
You think that result dictates, like if he gets a knockout in that fight, he's still
fighting?
I think it was the catalyst. I honestly think that was the catalyst for something. I really
do. Um, and look, here we are a couple of months later and he's decided no more. But
I think the performance that night, I may be just like, you know what?
I don't have the hunger for this.
I don't have the desire for this.
And as I said, it's the wrong sport if you don't have those two things, because
you're coming up against guys, good guys, because he will be fast track because of
who he is, you come up against good guys that have the hunger, have the same
ability and the desire, and then it could become dangerous.
And we've seen some surprising retirements.
I remember there was an MMA heavyweight in Bell Torneum,
Cole Conrad, who was a training partner of Brock Lesnar's,
who was undefeated and then all of a sudden said
he wanted to go into the milk business
and just kind of retired out of the blue.
There's Barry Sanders in the NFL,
but no one that young, like no one like one pro fight.
I mean, is there anyone that comes to mind?
I'm putting you on the spot here.
And I'm just kind of thinking on the spot as well.
No.
Who just retired before they got going.
Yeah, especially if you've like won your first fight.
I mean, if you got knocked out and hurt, I get it, right?
I mean, we have seen sort of pro fighters
maybe into double digit numbers
that have had brain scan issues and okay,
they've decided to
retire quietly but not someone that was highly sought after, someone that again decorated
amature looks the part as I said but maybe we should look at the fact that this guy was
sort of flirting with the WWE so he was already kind of maybe already thinking about life before
or after boxing he kind of went over there, tried it out and then
decided. So maybe he's never really wanted to do the pro thing, but it was a case of, okay, it didn't
quite work out with the WWE. Let's give boxing a go, the professional boxing. And he's decided after
one event, maybe a couple of training camps to sit down with his family, that it isn't for him. But
I hope he can stay around because he's such a good speaker.
Honestly, I hope he can scare around and maybe jump on a broadcast here and there,
set up a podcast or something, because it's a shame that boxing loses him
because he's an articulate guy, very, very smart guy, and he knows the sport in
and out. So it'd be a shame if he's like just sort of washed his hands of the
sport and we never see him again.
Well, we say hello and goodbye to Delicious Ori.
One heavyweight who is not going anywhere anytime soon is our guest at this time.
Fabio Wardley returns to action on June 7th at Portman Road.
Big massive homecoming fight for him against Justice Huni.
He's kind enough to join us right now.
Fabio, thank you so much for the time this evening.
Could we ask just off the bat here, we were talking about this shocking retirement announcement from Delicious. Did you
know about this and either way your quick thoughts on him walking away
after one pro fight? I didn't know that either. Surprising one, really surprising
to be honest. I met Delicious properly at the announcement of his obviously first
fight when he was on the what
was then going to be the Joyce White card.
And I was talking to him and he seemed really keen and enthusiastic about his pro career.
So it was quite a surprising one.
I saw it when I got in from the gym today.
And yeah, it took me by surprise knowing his pedigree, knowing his record, his background
and things.
I thought he'd be one to really keep an eye on
as he progressed with the sport.
So yeah, a bit of an interesting one.
All right, well, like I said, you're going nowhere.
In fact, you're back in action in less than two weeks time.
That press conference with Big Baby Miller
was one of the more chaotic, dare I say entertaining,
but also a little bit confusing press conferences
of all time, because he's accusing you of stuff.
You have no idea what he's talking about. It gets really heated and it turns into nothing.
He withdraws and now you're not fighting him. After all that, after being subjected to all that
and then ultimately the fight falling through, how did you feel about the switching opponents?
Yeah, look, boxing is always going to be boxing. It's never a simple sport. It's never going
to go exactly to plan. So it's just a bump in the road and that's how we took it really.
There was nothing too much to do with it aside from look, knuckle down, get a new opponent,
get things sorted because we had a venue and a date that wasn't going to wait. So we needed
to get things moving and get things back on track. So yeah, we wasn't hanging around for anyone. This is obviously my big
homecoming fight at a stadium. So we wanted to make sure that stays on track. We keep
that dream alive. So there wasn't too much hanging around or worrying about if we can
get him back or whatever's going on with Jerome Meadow. We just had to keep moving forward.
By the way, I'm loving the gold behind you.
I love this set up, all this gold.
You know, we're going to add to those belts in the coming months.
I know that for sure.
Um, now that we know it's justice, what other names were in the reckoning, Fabio?
Um, I'm guessing quite a few people, obviously it's Portman Road.
It's a big fight.
It's a big one, right?
Big stadium fight.
There were other names maybe sort of linked or interested. Any others?
Yeah, probably only one real serious contender with conversations that we had back and forth.
Because again, because this fight is for the WBA interim, we have to take into consideration
who's ranked within that governing body and who's in a good position. And then you have
to take into account who's available,
who's ready, who's fighting fit
on relatively in a broad term short notice.
Obviously like a longer time to prepare
for a big fight like this.
So there was a lot of factors having to take into place.
The only other person we really did have
kind of serious conversations with was Filip Hergovic.
But knowing he's not too long come off the Joyce fight as well.
He sustained a few cuts in that one and he had done this fight before that as well. So
we just kind of, we'd already had one cancellation due to injury and things like that. I didn't
want to risk Hergovic having to go through another camp and then maybe getting cut and
sparring or that reopening or something like that again. And then maybe two, three weeks out from the fight, we were back in the same boat having to refind
an opponent. So at this, at that point, it was really between justice and Hergovich.
Um, and we just picked the kind of safer option in the sense of Michigan it to the fight night.
How difficult is it stylistically? Um, justice completely different from Jeroen Miller, right?
He's a hundred pounds lighter.
He's not going to come in and talk the trash.
He's not going to get you fired up that way.
Uh, the way he boxes is completely different as well.
So yeah, short notice for justice, but it should notice for you, right?
Cause I'm guessing the sparring partners would have been tailored to
Jarell Miller, not to adjust the Sunni type.
Yeah.
We was, we had some big like units of wardrobe size men just walking me down and
inspiring and putting the work on me. So yeah, we had to swap that up quite quickly. Um, obviously
when we swapped to, when we swapped to justice, because again, like you say, his style is very
different. Um, bit lighter, much lighter, to be honest, more fleet footed, sharper punches,
puts his combos together well. So there was some different aspects that we had to pay attention to
and take into account for sparring. So yeah, we had to change things around a bit.
It's again, it's never ideal, but I've had a pathway through a decent career so far. So I've
sparred and trained with and even fought a varying bunch of styles. So it's not entirely brand new.
There's just elements that we have to pick from as a team and I really kind of nailed
down and drill and hammer home.
Last time we saw you in action, obviously you scored that devastating knockout win over
Frazier Clark.
In my opinion, one of the scariest knockouts of all time after seeing like what had happened
to his jaw.
First things first, why any particular reason why it's been eight months since you last fought?
Primarily because of the stadium show that we wanted.
I knew where I was coming into the new year.
We knew how we wanted to move and what we wanted to do,
but with me really being keen to push for a stadium show,
to have it in my home town, to have it at the football club.
We do have to wait for the season to end.
So that kind of locked us into a certain date,
certain time period.
So through that period of the first kind of quarter
of the year, I was still training, still taking over,
knowing what the goal is, knowing what the overall plan is,
but just waiting for things to fall into place.
Do you recall how you felt, how you reacted
when you had noticed that?
Your knockout in the first round back in October had had sort of like
Dislodged his jaw to the point where there was an indentation around here
Like what what are you thinking when you realize that your power created that?
Yeah, it was a it was a strange one for me at least because I didn't actually realize, especially I didn't realise in the moment, I didn't realise actually properly until he was being taken out of the
ring and I was getting my hand raised and I looked up to the big screen and they were
showing a replay and I actually saw like a bit of a slow-mo and a breakdown of what went
on. So I didn't actually realise properly until then in that moment. So afterwards celebrating
and stuff, I realised something was a little bit off because obviously
the rest calms you down.
But obviously after when you get a bit excited and things.
So yeah, there was some genuine concern there because again, like for everyone that said
to me, oh, that's such a great knockout, such a like, it was fantastic.
It was scary.
All these words for the only thought in my head is like, look, it's great and all, but as easy as it happened to him, as easy as it could
happen to me. Um, we're all big boys. We all throw big shots in the heavyweight
division. So yeah, it's, um, it's a, it's a great thing in a sense to do, but it's
also a kind of bleak reality of the sport that we're in.
There's been a lot of talk recently of sort of heavyweights, right? I mean, your name,
for some reason, always seems to burn the outside looking in. Yet you're the guy that's
unbeaten, you're the guy that's coming off incredible knockouts. Me and Ariel always
do our top three heavyweights and I think me and Ariel agree that it's sort of Ousik
Dubois Parker. Ariel might have Parker above Dubois because he loves Parker. How far away
do you think you are from those three guys?
Fabio.
I think I particularly far two fights, maybe.
Um, I think I've got, like, I understand that my progression, my career for
boxing as a whole has been a bit of a, I've always been that guy on the edge of
the, on the edge of the
conversation as it were.
So it's not going to be any different even at these kind of later stages or the heights
I'm at now with in boxing.
So I've always had to kind of bump and bruise my way through and get my name demanded in
the conversation.
So it's going to be nothing different at this top end of the division.
But yeah, I don't think I'm particularly far off.
Again, a fight or two and I'm there.
I spoke to someone that was at the Scotland show recently
and we were speaking about this show coming up
at Portman Road and I was asking about tickets
and they were telling me that tickets are doing really well
regardless of the fact that Jarrell Midd has been replaced
by Justice Hoonay.
You're gonna walk out to what seems like a sold out stadium. Now, I don't know sort of what you were doing five years ago, Fabio, but for
me, that still sounds a bit crazy that you're going to walk out to a football stadium and
it's going to be sold out and fingers crossed the weather is going to be good. Like, I mean,
you kind of that's it, right? I mean, obviously that there's world title fights, but this
is an incredible achievement. Yeah, this is a huge milestone in of itself for my career, minus the belt, minus the opponent,
minus all the build up to it. It just in of itself is huge for me and for my town and
from where I'm from. Because again, when I started out in my career, everyone was like,
where are you from? Ipswich. And no one knows what that is. It's off to the side and it's like, it's out of the way.
Everyone's like, it's such, where's that?
And I'm proud of what I'm achieving and what I'm bringing to, but also
the, the, the stamp I'm putting on the map for it, which I'm for it, which boxing.
So yeah, it's fantastic.
It is, it is another massive milestone for my career.
It's something I'm extremely proud of.
So I'm very much looking forward.
I was there for the last game of the season as well.
Just soaking in some of the crowds,
some of the atmosphere.
And I was just there,
just looking onto the pitch thinking,
yeah, a couple of weeks and it's me and it's my turn.
By the way, I don't know what it's like.
Could you share, like, what's it like rooting for a club
that gets promoted and then relegated the following season?
What is the move like?
Don't listen to him.
Don't wave.
I don't know if you can see, right?
I'm gonna put it up.
Yeah, there it is right there.
I don't know what that, what's that like?
Okay, okay, okay.
I see how it is, I see how it is.
No, it's, look, it's a rollercoaster.
It's like anything else, but we had a great back to back two seasons,
double promotion.
Few teams have done that.
So we've been riding our roller coaster high,
but look, things go south,
but we're gonna go backwards to jump forward.
So it's all good.
It's all coming back around.
Over in MMA, there's a young man named Arnold Allen
who represents Influence.
Are you familiar?
Do you know each other?
Have you ever trained with him?
Oh, you have?
Yeah, I know Arnold.
I know Arnold pretty well.
He's trained, there's another section,
another half, another part of my gym
that has Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
And there's a coach down there that he rolls with sometimes
and trains with.
So sometimes we're in the gym at the same time.
Sometimes we cross paths and stuff.
I haven't seen him for a little bit, but. I love, but yeah, he's not, he literally lives 15, 20 from the
boys' family does at least 15, 20 minutes away from me. So I have bumped into him a good few
times and seeing him doing this thing in USC as well. It was great to see.
What's the gym like now, Fabio? I mean, that gym must be buzzing, right? I mean, it's yourself,
it's Moses, it's Alois Jr. There's Lee Wood, there's McCormack. I mean, I mean, it's yourself, it's Moses, it's Alois Junior, there's Lee Wood, there's McCormack.
I mean, there's people knocking on the door to get in the gym, the gym's that busy. But
is it a case of like iron sharpens iron, everyone's seeing everyone win and it kind of motivates the
whole gym? Yeah, 100%. You're not like, don't get wrong, all them boys are great. And they're
great characters to have in the gym as well. And everyone's there for a laugh and a joke and to enjoy what we do.
But also at the same time, it's hard work.
And it's also pressure because you're next to a guy that's got this massive fight,
or you're next to a world champion or a former world champion
or someone who's fighting for world titles
or someone like Moses being named as the next one to take over everything.
So you're in the round rubbing shoulders with these guys and they're hitting the bag and then you're thinking, all right,
I'm going to put my extra work in and they up you by 10% and then the next guy over from you,
up you by 10%. And it's just work all around, but it's great to have that kind of vibe and
we all gel and all buzz off each other. Moses, you mentioned him, obviously,
look, his names on sort of the cusp of the lips of everyone, right? Everyone's talking about Moses at the moment. Did you see his knockout on the weekend?
Yeah, I saw his, I saw, I saw his knockout. All the boys from the gym did well, but yeah,
just before I get into Moses, I think I'd like to have a word for Balagan and how he
just kept getting up as well, because there was a time that was, he was gone and I just, he just kept springing back up and I thought, damn, this man's, this man is, is a tough guy. So
yeah, credit to him as well. But Moses is obviously clean, crisp and just that, like
that checkup on the way in just catching him on the way in was, was fantastic to see. So
look, he's, he's a credit to the hard work he's been putting in the gym as well. He's
only getting, which she meant to say of how great he is, but he's only getting better and better as well.
He's getting sharper.
Everything is just getting better and better for him. So it's fantastic to see.
Has anyone asked for his ID? I'm refusing to believe this young man is 20.
He doesn't look 20. He doesn't fight like a 20 year old. What's going on here?
Yeah, to be fair, you make a good point.
I think maybe I need to check that next time I'm in the gym and actually see some confirmation, some ID,
whether he is actually 20 or not.
Cause like you say, he doesn't look, sound, speak
at like a 20 year old.
And it's like, I definitely remember when I was 20,
I was a bill like that at all.
So I don't know what's going on.
Rounding this up with back on June 7th, Justice Hooney,
big opportunity and credit to him
for taking the fight on short notice.
I would say he has never fought anyone quite like you before this is a big step up for him
Would you agree with that?
Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah, and and and do you think that he can
Do you think he can present any problems considering the guys that you have fought thus far considering what he has done
What you've seen from him is there anything that anything that you're overly or not concerned about,
but thinking, okay, he's gonna present problems
that I haven't seen before?
Well, ones I haven't seen, maybe, maybe not,
but he is gonna be problematic.
There's no way he's just gonna turn up and roll over.
He's a very good, well-schooled boxer.
He's got great fundamentals,
puts his punches together really well.
And ultimately something goes for saying that he's undefeated.
He's got almost no pressure in this situation.
Like it's a win-win for him.
For example, if he rolls into my backyard and beats me up and wins or whatever,
he's the double winner in that sense.
So he's coming in there almost with nothing to lose in that sense.
And that gives you a level of freedom to be able to just take yourself into the ring on that cloud.
So yeah, look, he's going to pose some problems.
It's down to me to figure them out and come up with the right solutions on the night in the moment.
But I'm not overlooking in many sense.
Or look, I know it's in the sense short notice for him, but it is for me as well.
Trying to figure out a tricky opponent like him.
But you are right in saying I don't think he's he's stepped up to this level
probably before.
It's a bit of a jump for the pair of us, but I'd say probably more so for him.
I'm a bit I'm a bit more used to the the bright lights, the big occasions,
the big events and everything else.
So and just the quality of operators and things that I've been in with over the past couple of years is
definitely above where he's been. So yeah, he's gonna have some problems. He's
gonna bring them on the night but I'm wholeheartedly of the full belief that
I've got everything that takes the beating. Last one from us, if you can if you can plan out
the rest of the year, what are you thinking? Obviously the win on June 7th,
when do you return and against who back into the year, what are you thinking? Obviously the win on June 7th,
when do you return and against who back into the year?
I'm not trying to hang around.
It's like for me, for me,
this is a bit of a slow start to the year.
I like to at least really get three fights out of the way.
It's more so looking like two this year.
So yeah, look, we'll get this fight done, ticked off.
And then we, then I'm on the phone to Frank straight away and saying, great, what's next? I'll get this fight done ticked off and then we then I'm on the phone to to
French straight away and saying great what's next?
I'll pick this up.
Where what's the plan of action?
Where are we going?
When we back out because I want to keep moving.
I want to build on the success I'm having and push myself like I do be saying into that
conversation of those names of your Joseph Parker standard of bars and instance.
Well looking forward to June 7th.
It'll be good to have a big, you know, a big event,
a Nip-Switch guy winning at Portman Road,
something that, you know, hasn't been the case
over the past year or so.
I always do this, this is my thing.
It drives Adi nuts, because I'm the American
talking about football, but it's a thing.
I was gonna say, I'm with him as well.
I feel like.
I was, you know, it's a thing, you know,
we're taking the banter.
What do you say, taking the piss?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
All that, all that.
Okay.
Looking forward to it.
Looking forward to it very much.
Congrats on all your success
and can't wait for the season over there on June 7th.
Thanks so much, Fabio.
Cheers, guys, thank you.
That's gonna be a great scene.
And by the way, how about Queensbury?
I mean, they'll be putting on two stadium shows,
June and then July over at Wembley Stadium.
I mean, that's a pretty great stretch.
What a great addition they have been
to the Dzone schedule.
I know you'll be there as well.
And I will say this, Jarrell was selling the fight,
but this to me is a more intriguing fight.
Eddie and his boys are very excited about Justice. They've been pushing him, especially over in Australia. This to me is a more intriguing fight
because it's like, all right, Justice, here you go.
Jump into the deep end.
Jarrell is to me a classic.
Like, he'll sell the fight, he'll talk the talk,
but then once it comes to the fight itself,
it doesn't quite have, you know, the same type of,
you know, stake that he was presenting,
the sizzle to that stake, if you get what I'm saying.
I'm more intrigued than this fight.
How about you? No, I you get what I'm saying.
I'm more intrigued than this fight, how about you?
No, I get it, I get it.
I was excited about Jarrell,
just because I was at Jarrell's last fight
against Andy Ruiz,
who actually fought Jarrell boxed quite well.
And considering what Daniel Dubois has gone on to do,
that defeat against Daniel Dubois
doesn't look too bad on paper now.
So I was excited about Jarrell,
but I'm excited equally about Justice Hooney.
It's almost two unbeaten prospects that are now going to meet each other and one's going to qualify from prospect status to genuine sort of world level if they win. So Eddie's very,
very confident about Justice Hooney. I mean, Justice Hooney comes with this fantastic amateur
record, something that Fabio doesn't have at all. So it's gonna be a case of a good amateur boxer
against the killer.
And Fabio, I mean, what he did to Fraser Clarke last time,
this guy doesn't come to sort of get paid for overtime.
He comes to win.
So it's a good matchup.
And for Frank, it's almost like creating another star.
I mean, if you can sell out Portman Road, 30 or thousand,
I mean, you're a star.
So I don't know, we might have another one over here.
I feel like everyone's been waiting.
Who's gonna take the baton from AJ and Fury?
Could be Fabio Wardley.
I was just gonna bring that up.
We've gone from, okay, who's gonna take the baton
from AJ and Fury?
Okay, it'll be Daniel Dubois for a good stretch.
And then it's probably Moses.
Have we skipped over Fabio?
Can Fabio be that guy?
Yeah, yeah, 100%.
And it's interesting. It's gonna be an interesting dynamic, that one, because they're in the same gym.
And I was going to ask Fabio that question, like, you know, Fabio is going to get these questions if he beats Justice Hoonig.
People are going to go, one second, what about Fabio versus Moses?
They're in the same gym, same training set up.
It's going to get awkward soon.
And I think Fabio knows this as well.
And if I'm Fabio and I'm hearing everything they're saying
about Moses being crowned the next king,
I'm not going to wait one second.
What about me?
I'm unbeaten.
I'm highly ranked in every single governing body.
I'm on the cusp of sort of the top three, top four.
I would think that I am the next man to take the bat.
And so I almost feel like there might be trouble ahead soon
in that camp. I'm just saying.
Look at you stirring the pot.
I'm just saying.
Look at you stirring the pot.
It's like a movie, isn't it? It's almost like a movie. Someone's going to have to leave
that camp soon because when you got two very highly ranked heavyweights in the same camp,
it's inevitable people are going to want to see them throw hands.
Oh yeah.
It's inevitable.
100%. 100%. And who doesn't want to see Moses throw hands. Oh yeah. It's inevitable. 100%, 100%.
And who doesn't want to see Moses throw hands
against anyone?
He was back in action this past weekend.
You were there.
We just talked to Fabio about it.
Can we just relive this guy?
I mean, he is must see TV.
And I have a feeling his name is gonna come up
when we present our popcorn list.
And shout out to Mike Balagan.
I mean, he did keep coming up for some crazy, crazy reason.
He just wanted more multiple knockdowns.
Yeah.
And then in the second round, it was all she wrote with a unbelievable.
There it is.
No, that's not it.
It was similar to that one.
Yeah.
It was a different angle.
Here it is.
Here's the knockout.
Look at that.
Oh my God.
Step back.
Good.
Short right hook.
Beautiful stuff.
What about this guy?
We're trying, I'm trying my hardest
not to get super excited about him.
I'm trying my hardest to rein it in
because I've been hurt before with boxes
that I say are the future
and then all of a sudden they get beat.
But this guy looks just like he has everything.
I know the craziest thing about him,
he weighs 250 pounds and I'm obsessed with heavyweights and weight just because
They don't need to make weight
So I almost thought you know trainers are trying to find the optimum weight for these guys
He moves around the ring like he's 200 pounds. It's amazing. Bear in mind AJ's 250
You know Daniel DuBois 250 and you can see how they move. They're big strong muscular guys
He does not look like 250. He doesn't even look like he has muscles. Like you don't really see the biceps and the triceps
and the delts.
I think he's just a phenom.
Honestly, if he's not fighting for a world title
in a couple of years, something's gone wrong.
I think he's that special.
I think he could beat a lot of the guys above him
in the rankings right now, but understandably,
they still want to take it slow.
Cause you don't want to risk it.
You don't want to risk it. That's the only question right now. That's the only question
question surrounding Moses Otama. How quickly do you push him? Bokoli was there. Is that too soon?
I kind of feel like it's a little too soon, even though I think he can win that fight.
And I know that sounds weird to me. It's like a, it's like an auto Valin.
It's like a Philip Herkovich, it's that type of fighter.
Name value, veteran, but he'll beat those guys and then it's on to the Pacoles of the world.
A couple more, but I don't know. Honestly, you put him in there against Daniel Dubois and I'm like,
I don't know if he loses that fight, he's that damn good.
That's the talk around town right now. People are literally literally saying that. Like honestly, Sam Jones who we had on a few months ago,
he was very honest and he said,
Adé, trust me, he will beat everyone right now
not named Alexander Usyk.
That's how confident these guys are.
I'm like, one second, can we just rein it in?
Can we pump the brakes?
He just beat Mike Balogun.
Like Mike Balogun's not a top 30 guy.
Like we need to see him in there against someone that is coming to 100% win.
You mentioned some good names there.
Philip Hergivich is a great name.
Although what's in it for Hergivich?
Hergivich is like, why am I fighting this 20 year old?
There's a guy I've been shouting out for the last three, four days called Jermaine Franklin,
who was over here when he kind of gave, he took Dillian White all the way, took AJ all
the way as well.
I think he's a good name. But I mean, right now people are like, no, no,
no, forget that. Pacoli, Dubois, Parker, Cabell right now. I'm like, whoa, I don't know, man.
I don't know. But he's very, very good. 12 and 0. He's still a kid. As you say, he's
only 20. Now that they're not trying to break Mike Tyson's record, let's build him correctly
and slowly and let's build him correctly and slowly
and let's give him the right fights.
And I think it's with sort of George Warren
and Frank Warren and Francis Warren,
I think we'll build him correctly
and not sort of get behind what the people want
rather than sort of rather give Moses what Moses needs
and wants at the right time.
How quickly do you want to see him back in there?
Cause these are quick fights, you know, like I feel like-
July 19th, July 19th.
I feel like he could have fought already like one or two times
this year before this one.
A hundred percent.
I think, you know, I spoke to him, um, a few days ago,
and he said that they were trying to line up something a bit
big that kind of fell through in the end.
So that's why he was waiting and waiting.
And then, yeah, that's why I don't know what it was.
I don't know if they were trying to get him a world title fight to break Mike Tyson's
record.
But I mean, he could fight on the Portman road card.
He could literally fight on Fabio's card.
I mean, he barely broke sweat, but they're going to try and put them in the July 19th
card.
If he comes through that one, I think they're going to go big for somewhere in December.
Him headlining as well.
I think that's important. Let's see if he can headline.
I like what they're doing right now.
They're almost taking him all around the UK.
He's fighting everywhere, Scotland, Manchester.
Let's see now if they can find a home for him,
maybe the O2 arena, and let's see if he can fill that place.
Because if he can, then we have a superstar.
Oh my God.
I mean, I feel like we, right now in the sport of boxing,
I don't know if there's any fighter that has the type of buzz, the type of like, oh my God, this guy
could be that guy talk around him like he does.
And again, 20 years young, it makes, it makes no sense knocking out guys like that.
I'd like to see a nice little step, not, not like a gigantic step.
There's no rush 12 and no 20 do it right.
I think they're doing it perfectly.
They're putting them on medium-sized cards.
The Wembley idea is a brilliant one.
I mean, him walking out in Wembley,
maybe, I don't know, second or third to last fight
would be absolutely brilliant.
Would have seen that would be for him.
But everything he is doing is very, very exciting.
I can't wait to see how this progresses.
And in fact, Moses' presence this weekend, because he really was the story, in my opinion, in combat sports, it was nothing bigger,
in my opinion, than, again, another great Moses knockout, is what led me to start thinking about
this popcorn list. And again, in case you missed it at the top of the show, because I do believe
there was a little bit of audio problems at the beginning, working through the kinks, don't worry
about it, we'll get there one day. Here the thing everyone has a pound-for-pound list in
boxing and everyone's list is generally the same it all has okay what is it
Usyk, Crawford, Inouye, Usyk, Inouye, Crawford, Crawford, Inouye, Usyk, it's all
those three guys at the top right no one else has someone else and then you get
into the better biebs and bibles and then you get into the canellos and then
maybe at the end like one guy has a Chacor,
and one guy has a Boots, and one guy has,
I don't know, a Benavides.
But it's all generally the same, right?
It's not that interesting.
And over on the women's side of things,
all right, is it Clarissa, Katie?
Is it Amanda, Clarissa, Katie?
It's like, it's all kind of the same.
So I thought, all right, ultimately, what is this?
This is prize fighting.
This is about entertainment.
This is about who makes you stop what you're doing.
Who makes you rearrange your plans?
Who makes you say, no, I have to pay ticket.
I have to buy on pay-per-view.
I have to be there.
I have to tell my friends about this person.
Who are those people?
And so I thought, let's present our top 10 popcorn fighters.
Our must-see TV fighters, our must-watch fighters, regardless of what you're doing,
regardless of weight class, regardless of gender,
who are the absolute best, most entertaining,
most fun fighters, all action fighters in the sport today?
And I think this is the true essence of what we all want
out of the fighters, right?
As fight fans, this is what we want.
We want people who bring it, who produce, who always who always show up and so without further I can't wait for
this I'm excited to see where you go with this I'm so nervous about this now
you've got me nervous you go first you go first give us your top 10 I want the
whole 10 I wanted I want you to go okay okay all right so what from 10 to one? Go from 10 to one. Okay. Number 10. The man
I think could, if he wanted to be the face of US boxing, Gervonta, Tank Davis. Yes. Look,
I know last time I against Lamont Roach wasn't his greatest performance, but that boy is
must see TV. Like he's press conference now all of a sudden that he's talking is must
see TV. And when he gets in the ring, nine times out of 10,
someone's getting knocked out.
I think he's fantastic.
I think he's mini Mike Tyson.
So he's number 10.
Can we put my list back on, please?
Can we put my list back on?
Number nine, look at that, Demetri Bivel.
Now, Demetri Bivel for me is like,
if you want pure boxing,
if you just wanna see someone almost ballet around a ring,
art form, it's Dmitri Bivol.
Like he's just sensational.
Number nine, sorry, number eight, Alexander Usyk.
The great Alexander Usyk is going to go down as one of the greatest fighters of all time.
I just love the idea of someone kicking the backside of people in the land of the giants.
He's not a giant and he's beating up giants.
He's giving away 40, 50, 60, 70 pounds sometimes
and finding a way.
Number seven, Jarom Bootsenis.
I mean, this boy has to be in there.
I think his last performance against Stan Jonas,
must see TV.
Honestly, Bootsenis goes in there
and he goes into kill all the time.
Doesn't go into box, he can box,
but he goes in to take your head off.
All right, now we get serious.
Number six, Virgil Ortiz. I would pay everything I have in my bank account to watch a Virgil Ortiz fight, win or lose. I thought you might have been lucky against Boychuk, but against Madrimov,
again, he was just back to his brilliant hunt you down and want to get you in a corner and
absolutely take your head off.
I've cheated a bit in number five.
Yeah. What is this? I can't separate these two.
I have a problem with this. I can't separate the two. I know you do. I know you do. I know you do.
I know you would, but you know what it is? It's when they are together.
There's something about them when they're together.
Look, Katie Taylor has produced some great performances against Chantelle
Cameron, Delphine Pursuene, et cetera, et cetera.
But when these two ladies are together and we've now seen it for 20 rounds,
I mean they have to be tied. They have to be tied together. They will in a hundred years
we'll be talking about, do you remember Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano? Do you remember
that? That people will be talking about these two together, not separately together. Hence
why they're on the list together
all right number four Inoue this guy can outbox you but he just wants to take your head off for
our entertainment he doesn't need to risk getting knocked out but he does it for our entertainment
and i think he's sensational and again you look at his record knockout record this guy doesn't
get paid overtime he wants to go and take your head off.
Number three, the most exciting young boxer
on the planet today.
No, not Moses de Talma, this guy, Jesse Bam Rodriguez.
Sensational, absolutely sensational.
Number two, a guy that isn't on people's pound
for pound list right now, but I guarantee you,
will be next year, the great Jar Patei, the number one cruiserweight on the planet who I think
and I'm playing dream matchmaker here now. Yeah. The super fight of all super fights
in 2027 is Moses the Talmud versus Jaya Patai for undisputed heavyweight glory. Jaya is
going to go up. Moses ain't super big.
That's the super fight of all super fights.
And number one, if this isn't your number one,
then you might need to watch another sport.
David Benavidez is the most electrifying,
entertaining fighter on planet earth today.
This guy just gives you absolutely everything in his soul. Honestly,
I can't wait. He wants to fight. Look at that. Look at that. My man, David Morrell there.
He's talking about fighting Callum Smith or Anthony Yard. We were desperate to see him
fight Bivou or Biterby of Next. I mean, he's now the legit WBC light heavyweight champion.
That's a top 10 that quite frankly can't be beaten.
So we might as well move on.
No, it's a great top 10.
Although it's the wrong list, but it's all very subjective.
It's a great top 10.
What do you mean it's the wrong list?
What do you mean it's the wrong list?
I mean, obviously I have a problem with number five.
You put two fighters in there, but okay, fine.
I get it. I get it.
Listen, we could do whatever we want.
And you know, I'm-
Can I say a couple of people that I like-
Yeah, give me some honorable mentions.
Go ahead, go ahead.
Okay, Conor Ben.
Honorable mention, Conor Ben.
I was trying to squeeze Conor Ben in
because it's just pure excitement, pure entertainment.
Like again, not just in the ring, out the ring.
And then in the ring, he delivers
on what he said outside the ring.
Gabriella of Fundora.
I was desperately trying to get her in there
because you know, like we complain about, or people complain about females don't knock you out. outside the ring. Gabriella de Fundora. I was desperately trying to get her in there because
we complain about, or people complain about females don't knock you out. She knocks you out. She knocks you out. She wants to go and knock your head off. And by the way, she doesn't look like
she can knock your head off. She looks like a science teacher that can kill you. So she has to
be in there, but I couldn't get her in there. So those two, my honorable mentions, and obviously
Moses de Talmud, because you
just mentioned him. I forgot about Moses, but Moses as well.
Yeah. All right. What's your list? What's your list?
Okay. Here's a little note to the great team in the back. Don't reveal my list. I want
to go one by one.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, That is so out of order. That is so unfair. Why? Why? I want your genuine reaction.
No, we have to do it the same way.
I didn't say a word.
Genuine reaction.
Because mine is very different than yours.
So I think your reaction is going to be very fun.
I want to see your face.
Keep us up here two shot.
I want to see his face as I prove that I know ball and perhaps better than Ade does.
Number 10.
This man is unbelievable.
He is flying the flag here in the United States.
He might be the next great American boxer.
He's returning next weekend.
He knocks people out.
He headlines shows.
He sold 10 or so thousand tickets back in Norfolk, Virginia.
He's the one and only Keyshawn Davis.
Unbelievable talent with a great, great
backster. I love this. I love this. You like, come on, Keisha, how do you not have Keishon in there?
Keishon Davis. Keishon Davis. How am I not at Keishon?
Must see TV. Keishon Davis. That's number 10. Number nine. You know I had to get him in there.
At some point, he is the big oos. He has completely revamped his career.
What a reclamation project.
What a story.
The one and only Joseph Parker,
who is the uncrowned king in the heavyweight division,
in my opinion.
He has, what does he do?
He comes in there and he knocks people out.
He finished his fights.
He knocked out your boy, Martin Bacoli.
I love Joseph Parker.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Did he not?
Did he not?
Yeah, we have an asterisk.
There's an asterisk to that, though.
Nah, stop that, stop that. There's an asterisk to that though. Nah, stop that, stop that.
There's an asterisk to it.
Go on.
All right, I have to say,
I had such a hard time with the back end because-
So difficult.
I actually at one point was gonna text you and say,
can we make it 15?
Let's go with 15.
Yes.
I was gonna say that.
I was gonna say that.
I wish you did that,
because I was ready for 15.
But my approach to this was,
what have you done for me lately?
What have you done throughout your career.
It's like right now, based on your last couple performances or just your last,
are you getting me to sit there, pay my pay-per-view money, pay my ticket, and sit with a bowl of popcorn?
You've removed Tank Davis from your list.
Next up, number eight, Jaiop Pataya.
As you said, one of the great fighters. He's going to move up. He is all action. He knocks people out.
You know, maybe doesn't have the dance partners right now at cruiserweight.
Hopefully he gets Zerto.
And then hopefully at some point we see him at heavyweight.
Do we ever see him against Zusek? Probably not.
That would be incredible.
Before the Moses fight, Jive versus Zusek would be the fight, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it would be. It's not going to happen.
Yeah, not going to happen.
I'm realistic.
Okay, that's the first one we've actually agreed on. Okay, go on.
We almost agreed on one. I almost agreed with an honorable mention, but I went with her bro.
Sebastian Fundora to me is must-see TV just based on the size differences alone.
This guy, the towering inferno, is towering over everyone in the welterweight division.
And look at that last fight. I mean, two fights ago now against Tim Tzu. It was unbelievable. Oh, violent.
Unbelievable.
The blood.
I mean, he showed that he wasn't just a freak show fighter, that he wasn't
just like a, you know, a novelty act.
He's a great fighter at 147 pounds.
I love watching him fight.
He did his unified, unified champ.
Yes.
154.
So yeah, you're right.
154, excuse me.
And, and, and also what he's done in terms of like figuring out, like it's
tough for a guy that weight, 154 to be what, you're right. 154, excuse me. And also, what he's done in terms of like figuring out, like it's tough for a guy, that
weight, 154, to be what, six foot four?
What is it?
Six foot four?
It's crazy.
And to fight guys who are all very much smaller than him, I love watching him fight and the
visual alone is great.
He's so skinny, I can't believe he weighs in at 154.
It's absurd.
And he told us a couple of weeks ago, he makes it easy.
Yeah.
And now I make the weight. I mean, you joked about him sort of moving up and wait. I'm comfortable
I am shocked. That's good list so far good list
I'm shocked that this name was not on your list to be honest with you
You know why? You know why? No, no, no, Archer Betterbiev is my next guy. Archer Betterbiev
When has he ever been in a boring fight? I mean, he's such a hard thing. This list is impossible to do
He is I mean the guy is an absolute killer. He's 40 now. He's never been in a boring fight
He's generally knocking people out
I know the last two weren't but the last two or two of the best fights that we've ever seen
I had a really hard time means you you better have the guy that beat him. I had a fight on the list
I had a hard time. I had a hard time with this one
But in the end you'll find out you'll find out what I do with Demetriou Bivoult. To me, the story of this segment, the story of these lists,
I mean, this idea came, the embryonic stages of this idea coming to my brain was watching Moses Atama.
He might be number one on most people's lists, and you didn't have him you didn't have
Is as much CTV as it gets 20 knocking people out
This close to breaking Mike Tyson's record that knockout those knockdowns outside or you were there How do you not have him in your top two let alone in your top ten?
Moses and Talma, are you kidding me? I thought for sure you were going to have him number one.
Legit. I thought you were going to have him number one.
I didn't want a British bias, like,
Adé is only picking him, who's he done it to, who's he...
And I was like, okay, let me just not be that guy.
So what number is Moses on your list?
Moses is number four.
Number four, number three is Katie Taylor.
Because here's the thing,
Amanda Serrano has had some fights prior to the Katie fights while she was testing the waters
with three minute rounds, which aren't, you know,
let's be honest, like highlight real fights.
They weren't once to write home about.
She's unbelievable.
She's a hall of Famer.
She's one of the greatest of all times, but
Taylor is the secret sauce.
And it's been a long stretch of Taylor being
involved in rock and sock and robot robot fights,
regardless of who she fights.
I mean, the Cameron fights have been all but
forgotten about because of how great these
Serrano fights were.
Those two fights were classics too.
Both of them.
No, no, no.
When it's all said and done, people are going to say Katie and then they're going to say
Amanda.
You can't separate the two.
No, Katie.
No, no, no.
It's both of them.
It's both of them.
Katie, an Olympic gold medalist, trailblazer, pioneer.
She is the freaking best.
I want to message Amanda as you're doing this.
I'm messaging Amanda right now.
Number two is Oleksandr.
You say he has to be way higher up, way higher up on the list in my opinion.
The guy is a freak.
He is unbelievable at cruiserweight and heavyweight.
What more can you say about him?
One of the greatest of all time and maybe doesn't even get enough credit for being as
good as he is.
He's an absolute stud.
I'm itching.
I'm, wait, wait.
So are you doing all this?
It's fun.
I'm itching to know. Have we got the same number one. Number one was the easiest. No, of course we didn't
have. How do you not have Showitem, the monster? How do you not have Naoya Inoue? He literally
defines Massey TV. I've got Inoue as number four. Yeah. Inoue is number four. Number one.
Wait one second. One second. You do not have David Benavides on your list? No, he's right
there. Number five. Right there. Wait, number five. Okay. I think you skipped it by accident. Okay. You did mention him. Oh yeah, I did. You know what? I did. I did. You do not have David Benavides on your list. No, he's right there, number five, right there. Wait, number five, okay, I think you skipped it
by accident there, okay.
Oh yeah, I did, you know what?
You didn't mention him.
I did, I did.
You skipped it, you skipped it.
My bad, my bad.
In your excitement about Batorbi, you skipped him.
And my excitement about you not having Itama.
That's right, that's right.
I was trying to go and look at the screen.
In a way, it has to be number one.
You know what, you know what I will say?
Is there any way we can put our list up
at the same time together?
We'll effort that, we'll effort that.
How do you not have In a way number one? We'll effort that. We'll effort that.
How do you not have In A Way number one?
I have major issues.
I'm thinking my list is better than yours.
You're crazy.
In A Way number one?
I've got Virgil Ortiz.
I've got Virgil Ortiz.
Yeah Virgil's great.
Tank.
One second.
Look at that.
One second.
Virgil, Tank, who else?
Jesse Bam Rodriguez?
Okay.
On my list?
My list is better than yours.
He's unbelievable.
But here's the thing. Tank, what have you done for me lately?
Right?
What?
Okay, one bad performance against Ron Roach.
I'm sorry.
He knocked out Frank Martin prior to that.
Yeah, so what?
Put him to sleep.
Yeah, okay, so what?
Let me see your list.
Let me see your list.
Is anyone?
Well, one second.
One second.
Yeah.
Ultimate Turbo, what have you done for me lately?
Your last two fights.
Yeah, all action.
Your last two fights weren't knockouts. He made the he made Dmitri Bivol into an exciting fighter.
Wait, wait, one more second.
So the guy that beat him's not on the list?
Oh, that's fine.
Listen, it's all about the action.
I'm not talking wins and losses here.
I'm talking about the action.
I'm talking about what you're producing for me.
Honorable mentions, by the way, these are ones that I had written down.
Dmitri Bivol.
How many have we got here?
Probably 10.
Nah, nah.
Dmitri Bivol.
Daniel Dubois.
I mean, he's, he's a fun, right?
How do we not have Daniel Dubois. I mean, he's, he's a fun, right?
How do we not have Daniel Dubois in there?
AJ, AJ is still must see TV.
It's kill or be killed with him.
He is must see TV.
Like, you know what I mean?
Like the world stops when he fights Nakatani again, all action, all action.
Bam is on there.
Yeah.
Had the last fight not gone the way in which it did, Ryan would have been in my top five.
Ryan would have been in my top five, no doubt about it.
I thought Ryan would have been. I know you're a big Ryan fan.
I thought you might have been in your top five.
Again, if I don't put Tank in there, I can't put Ryan.
And this is the one I struggled with the most and who I wanted to put as number one, just to mess with you, Christian Belli.
How could I not have Christian Belli in my top 10 popcorn fighters,
but in the end I couldn't do it because I had no idea who to take out of there,
but he's on my list too.
He's in my audience.
Wait, so neither of us had Canelo or Crawford?
Last couple of fights, Canelo.
Look at that, look at that.
Oh, that was a big deep breath.
Last couple, I mean Canelo's last couple of fights, are those must see TV,
or are those like,
you can watch the highlights the next day?
Let's just be, let's just be real.
Crawford fight was great.
We're going to spade a spade.
It's highlights the next day.
Yeah.
You know what this is?
You know what I love about this?
This is, this is barbershop top, barbershop talk.
This is the type of thing that you could debate
and you think I'm crazy and I think you're crazy,
but in the end, there's no right answer answer but it's what makes the fight game fun.
Even more so than pound for pound.
Like who's the most exciting you know fighter in the game?
You say Benavidez, I say Inoue, there's no wrong answer but I'll say I am shocked.
This is better.
This is better than pound for pound.
Yeah.
This is the new thing.
Like who is the most exciting fighter?
Like this is this is it because I'm tired of pound for pound discussions.
I'm tired of it.
Everyone will have the same five, as you say.
And then there's inactive fighters on there
that haven't given us anything for a year,
but they're there because of what they did five years ago.
I'm like, well, one second.
I care about what have you done now.
So I'm all for this.
And you know, I could actually pick,
like there's so many more exciting fights
You could pick a whole new list, right?
You could pick a whole new list
But you know which one really upsets me that I didn't have him on the list looking at my list now, Keyshawn Davis
Yeah, I think he's so exciting. So I'm a bit upset. I didn't have Keyshawn
Well, but yeah, your list was okay. Mine was very good. So wow
Well, we'll revisit this in a few months time
after some of these guys fight
and we'll see if they are worthy enough
of remaining on our list.
Let us know in the comments section,
let us know in the chat as well, give us your list.
Again, regardless of gender, regardless of weight class,
who are the top 10 most exciting fighters,
the ones that you have to say,
all right, I'm canceling my plans, I'm watching this,
I'm streaming it on my phone, no matter what,
I cannot miss these guys or gals in action and
Let us know who had the better list as well myself or are they?
Put it in the poll. That's close way. That's close. It's close. Hey, I'll tell you one guy that I struggled with
I actually wanted to put Tyson in there. I want to put Tyson Fury in there because he's never in a boring fight
Again, it's a scene, it's
a spectacle, it's kill or be killed with him. But ultimately I was annoyed with the retiring
and I was like, you know what, we're not going to do this right now. What do you make of
Tyson right now? Is this it? Is this finally it? Are we done? Is he telling us and we have
to listen or is this all part of the journey to get to the AJ fight?
No, no, no. This is just the journey. Tyson is on holiday, he's in late-como.
We've all done this before.
We've all gone on holiday, and all of a sudden,
you're like, ah, this is the greatest thing
I've ever done in my life.
I'm never coming back ever again,
and you eventually come back.
You get on the plane and come back.
So I think Tyson Fury's having a moment
where he's partying with 50 Cent and Derek Chisora,
and he'll get back to Morkham.
I think he's back now and he'll be like, okay, enough.
Let's just do this.
Let me just collect my 100 million and let me give the British public and the world what
they've been waiting for for nearly a decade.
So I still have a hope that we are going to see this.
AJ has now recovered from I think elbow surgery or something.
And I think he's ready to go as well.
So I do think we're gonna get this fight
but yeah, you're right if Tyson Fury was a hundred percent active that probably make my list because he is very exciting like
Like no press conference in the world is better than a Tyson Fury press conference and to be honest in recent times
No fights better than a Tyson Fury fight
Whether it's the case of him getting off his backside against Ingar new or laying people out like he did against Wilder he is super entertaining so
Tyson free would be on my list if he wasn't pissing me off with what he's
doing right now here's Tyson addressing all this very recently on social media I
hear a lot of talk of the gypsy king returning to boxing and I asked a
question of this one for what what would I return for? More boxing belts
122 of them. I've been rumped that's it fair play to them they've had the use for me but I'm happy
I'm happy contented with what I've done what I've achieved what I've accomplished been around the
world and back again and here we are this is what retirement looks like for the gypsy king.
Not too shabby.
I'm in no rush at all to come back boxing,
get my face punched in for what?
What would I return for?
I asked that question.
So here we are.
I'm retired and I'm staying retired.
I've got nothing to prove to anybody
and nothing to return for.
God bless you all.
See you on the other side.
Like I said earlier, you're top.
Honestly, I look at that scene and I kind of understand what he's talking about.
I mean, he does lay out a good case.
It's a fantastic case, but he asked a question.
That's the problem with that statement or that whatever.
He asked a question, what am I returning for?
And the answer is 100 million.
That's it.
You're going to make nearly a hundred million pounds to fight Anthony Joshua.
So you're returning for the fight fans.
You're returning for a lot of money.
And there isn't a belt.
We don't need a belt.
He's right. He's won so many belts.
Same as AJ.
They both won tons of belts.
Neither need to add more metal and rubber to their collection.
You're both
doing it because this is the fight that we've been speaking about for a decade. That's all
it is. That's, that's what we want to see. And then they can both set off into the sunset.
Like personally, if it wasn't for AJ versus Fury or Fury versus AJ, I would tell both
of them to retire. My thing has always been get in, get rich and get out. They both have
gotten, they've made a lot of money and they're both okay.
The faculties are in place that they're still,
this is still working up top,
but it's only because it's these two names
that I'm screaming for this fight to happen.
All right, well, we'll see how this all twists and turns
over the next, I guess, few months.
Again, it's a little reminiscent actually
of what we're experiencing over on the MMA side
of things with John Jones, where everyone's like,
just come back for one more.
And he's like, yo, I'm living my life here.
Leave me alone.
And you wonder if it's actually genuine.
It's a bizarre thing, but all right, fair play.
Enjoy your vacation.
On this weekend slate, to me, the best card of the weekend
happens in Las Vegas at the Michelob Ultra Arena, formerly known as the
Mandalay Bay Event Center. And actually a guy that I wanted to put on the list, I certainly should have
put him on my honorable mention, was Caleb Plant. I love Caleb Plant, I love his style, I love the
way he talks, I love the way he moves in and out of the cage, I love his shoes as well. He's a great,
great talent. He's headlining the card and Jamal Charlo is also on the card, but they're not fighting each other.
They're doing the same thing that we just saw a couple of weeks ago, where it's two guys that we want to see fight who have a history.
Remember a couple years ago, Caleb smacking Charlo in the bowels of T-Mobile after some words were exchanged.
They don't like each other. It's been two years of back and forth talk between them.
And there they are, main and co-main, but they're not fighting each other.
We're told if they both win their fights,
they will fight later on this year.
But again, Are, this is what we keep saying.
Why does this keep happening?
If you have the guys, if they're ready to go,
just have them fight each other.
Do we really need to tune up for either of them?
Maybe Charlo does it, needed a little bit more than Caleb,
but that's the fight to make.
And look what happened two weeks ago with Garcia and Haney on the same card in Times
Square one guy slips one guy gets hurt one guy needs surgery one guy looks bad
and now all of a sudden the big money fight kind of fades away it's
frustrating it is but I'm gonna give them a little bit of leeway here more
from the Charlo end Caleb's's ready to go. Caleb's
an active fighter. Caleb's a top 168 pound fighter. I think he's one of the best out
there. For Charlo, I have no idea where he is physically, mentally. We know he's been
through a hell of a lot in the last couple of years to the point where I thought he actually
wouldn't fight again. I've been screaming, where are the Charlos? Not just Jamal, but
where's Jamal? What's happened to Jamal since he fought Canelo? Like literally he's vanished off the face of the earth.
And again, we know that Charlo has been going
through some stuff, Jamal.
So I'm just happy to see him back.
I need to see what he looks like
before he goes in there with Caleb.
And I think they need to sell it
in order to see what he looks like as well.
He'll be going, if they make Caleb versus Jamal,
like tomorrow, it would only be sort of they're selling it
on name factor only rather than ability.
But there's also the story.
There's everything that they've been through.
Yeah, there is.
But we, even when you say the slap a couple of years ago as Jamal fought, I think he fought
once in that two year span.
I think he's only fought twice in like three and a half, four years.
So we need to see what it looks like.
You know, it's weird the charlots because
there was a time when I genuinely thought they were going to take over boxing. And look,
ultimately, they both won world titles, undisputed for Jamel. They both, to be fair, ticked a
lot of boxes, but I thought they were really going to be the future kings of the sport.
So it's kind of sad to see where they both are right now. I'm more hurt by Jamel because
I honestly think Jamel is probably the most talented
of the two.
And again, he's just vanished.
Jamel's still got, I think, a bit to offer, but we'll see.
Let's not forget he's a 160 guy, really not a 168 guy.
So let's see what he looks like at 168 and then we can hopefully have a big fight in
the autumn between those two.
All right.
Well, that's a big one coming up this weekend.
And like I said, I like Caleb, I like his style, I like his shoes, I like everything
about him.
And in fact, we go way back.
We go way back Caleb and I.
I don't know if you know this, but we're kind of like bros.
And we've worked through some stuff.
We've worked through some stuff.
Because the thing is, like I will admit, like I'm not perfect.
I've never claimed to be perfect.
First time I met him, I was working the way ins.
It was myself, Paul Pierce, the truth, Andre Berto, Caleb shows up and I'm
just, I'm trying to introduce myself.
And it was one of the most embarrassing moments that I've ever
experienced on live television.
Forget live television.
Is it the handshake?
The handshake?
Take a look, take a look. Let me know. Here he comes. What's up guys? Hey, what's up? What's up?
He pulled it back. Come on. He comes up like smooth.
Let me see this again.
How are you sir? How are you?
He doesn't know that you know the handshake.
Okay. So you're defending me here. He knows.'t know that you know the handshake.
Okay, so you're defending me here.
He knows Andre knows the handshake.
He doesn't know that you know.
So who?
Hey, wait, wait, wait.
Watch it again.
Watch it again, watch it again.
Can we play it again?
Paul is smooth as hell.
No, no, no, Paul grabs his arm
because Paul sees what happens to you.
And Paul's like, that ain't happening to me.
So Paul, watch Paul grab his arm.
Watch this. This is smart from Paul.
You gotta know this kind of stuff.
Look at it, look, grab it.
I went for the, and then the fist bump.
How bad is that?
How bad is that on my part?
Bad, it's bad.
It ain't bad.
And then your suit jacket is whatever.
Everyone's trying to be cool.
You're wearing a suit jacket.
You know, Caleb was like one of the coolest kids out there.
I'm doing the weigh-ins, I'm hosting'm hosting the way and they didn't tell me it was
Where they tell me it's cool kids day. They told me to be a professional
He comes up. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm just like did he have to pull out
Why couldn't he at least met me in the middle? I don't know
Look at that look that's shame right there
That is that is that is me looking down in your life.
Yes. I'm like, golly, I am not as cool as these three guys.
What fight was that for? What was that for?
That was Tank Davis, Eaza Cruz.
And by the way, that was another one where Tank.
Long time ago. Yeah.
Tank didn't look great in that fight.
Tank did not look good in that fight.
Short notice fight. He was supposed to fight Rolio Romero.
Cruz came in and sort of shocked him.
Kind of rocked him early, if you recall Staples said.
Or maybe it was crypto.
No, I think it was still Staples at that point,
December, 2021.
Anyway, I like him.
He gives me a bit of a Nate Diaz vibe, if you will.
And I hope they both win and I hope they get that fight.
I mean, PBC could use a big fight like that.
This one not on pay-per-view, by the way.
Oh, nice. That's good. That's very, very good.
And you're right, they could use...
They need a little injection, don't they?
Or something, or something.
As much as I work for The Zone, I'm just a boxing fan first and foremost.
And I grew up watching all those sort of big fights in America,
and now a lot
of them were on Showtime, HBO and then obviously PBC sort of prime.
So hopefully they can put on some big shows because we do miss those big shows in America
with those guys.
Uh, speaking of the Dazon schedule, it's another packed one on Friday.
There's a golden boy card headline by Mili Kuzieiev versus Fulgham. There they are.
Dude, this is a great fight. This fight here. Yeah. I've spoken to Daris Fulgham quite a
lot. Daris Fulgham, like we don't do it over here, but in America, they seem to do this
thing where you sit down with the fighters, the day of the weigh-ins and you kind of have
a conversation with them. We never do that in the UK. So I've sat down with Daris Fulgham.
I've done a couple of these fights and he's very Andre Ward, but not a hop in this. He's
kind of got that aura about him. But in Beck to me and Melikuzio, he's fighting a guy that's
legit. Like this is a bit like the Justice Hoonay Fabio Wardy fight. Whoever comes through
this one is legit, is there. And I think Darius is going to come through, but Melikuzio can
fight. I think everyone still for some reason has
Memories of him getting knocked out by Rosado. It's a fight, you know, they ran it back and he won quite comfortably
So look Melikusiev can fight but I think Darius has got enough in the tank to get past this one
And then all systems go to crack into that sort of top five in the world
Over in Guadalajara. There is a rematch between Gallegos and Co that is the
matchroom card on uh Friday night as well. Manuel Gallegos, Khalil Co running it back so
that's the action as far as... Co needs to win it. Co needs to win it. I mean again a lot of hype
about Kilo Co. He got beat last time, got beat comprehensively.
Credit to him running back to the fire, but this is it.
This is almost those ones where, okay, you asked for it.
We've given it to you.
Now you're going to Guadalajara, Mexico.
Good luck, brother.
But it's not gonna be easy.
Not gonna be easy.
Enjoy.
All right, time now for everyone's favorite segment
of the week.
It is time for our parting shot.
Obvious one, right?
Moses. No, you know, where you always do this. Favorite segment of the week. It is time for our parting shot obvious one, right? Moses
It's one of the all-time great knockouts and then you got BKB KFC
Around here we don't do that around here. Of course, we have to go back to Scotland
I mean it makes all the sense in the world. It's one of the all-time great knocks in recent boxing history
Everyone was talking about it afterwards.
It made everyone's top 10.
It made everyone's highlight reel.
We could play it.
There's no beating around the bush.
Yeah, you're so wrong.
You know what I'm going to say?
What about that?
Sonny Edwards is going to send you a message.
What happened?
What is going on here?
Josh Taylor slapping Sonny Edwards' face? What is happening?
Not nice.
I don't know, but Sonny wasn't happy.
I just saw an interview of Sonny.
Was it a friendly?
I thought it was a friendly tap.
No, it was a friendly, but you know,
when someone kind of friendly taps it a bit too tappy.
Oh, yeah.
That's not. Yeah.
But he has a smile.
Josh has a smile on his face.
Tell us the backstory here.
What's going on?
Sonny doesn't.
I don't know, but Sonny did an interview today with October Red and he said, look,
there were a few apologies in the immediate aftermath
of that, I'm guessing Sonny wasn't happy with it.
Yeah, it was fun.
And there's gonna be another apology like today.
I don't know if Josh is gonna release something.
Yeah, I'm guessing so, he's gonna release something
on social media because no need for it, no need for it.
Well, that was on the Dazon broadcast
and then they cut to you guys.
Did you notice that in real time?
Yeah.
No, I didn't see it.
I would have certainly mentioned it.
But in our little WhatsApp group,
Carl Frampton kind of pointed to it as well,
saying, damn, we missed this.
And I was like, yeah, we did.
But very cheeky from Josh Taylor.
Very cheeky.
Shout out to my guy Darshan,
everything boxing for catching that.
That's from his view. That's why it looks like it's taken everything boxing for catching that. That's from his feed.
That's why it looks like it's taken off his screen.
So he just took it from his screen?
Is that what he did?
He took it from his screen?
Well, I mean, he's probably watching it live.
He doesn't get the feed.
The point is, I actually thought it was two mates,
just kind of giving each other a little bit of a...
It looked like it hurt as well.
It looked like it hurt.
It looked like Sonny was about to stand up.
Then he fought one second.
I am a fly away and that is a well to wait.
Or that.
Or that, or that.
But speaking of Josh Taylor,
what about that loss and where he goes from here?
It really does feel like maybe,
I don't know if these things are legit,
but like he did a deal with the devil.
He gets that win over Jack Catterall.
And then ever since then,
it's just been tough night at the office
after tough night at the office. Some are calling for him to retire after Saturday.
Do you think that's warranted?
Yeah, it's definitely in the discussion. I mean, it was upsetting that I didn't get to
speak to him after he left the ring.
And he apologized for that as well, right?
He did. He apologized. And he said, look, he might have said something in the moment
that he would have later regretted.
And that could be a retirement thing, right?
He might've said, you know, enough's enough, but then it goes home and sort of changes
his mind.
But look, I think it's four defeats in a row.
You mentioned that Jack Couchall won, which was actually at the hydro.
I think he lost that.
I think everyone agrees that he lost that and then lost to Tiofimo, then to Jack.
And this one will hurt the most because I like Echo a lot but I think a lot
of people have Echo as a very top tier British level fighter, fringe European. At the time of
fighting Jack that was undisputed Jack world level, tier female lopers certainly world level.
So if you're Josh you're like okay let's you know take a level down and let me just kind of get my
mojo back and get a win and he got got beat, I think in the end, eight,
four, seven, five and rounds. So, um, that one's going to sting a lot. And also, I mean,
this is a guy that conquered the world, uh, in only sort of 18 fights. He became undisputed.
Literally he fought, he fought everyone at their absolute peak. Regis Proga at his peak,
Ramirez at his peak, Victor Postal, Baringcik. And now he's like, it must
feel weird knowing it's not there anymore like it was in 2018 through to 2021. So he'll
have to ask himself if he's prepared to kind of have these type of wars when, with all
due respect to Echo, Echo is a guy who would have beaten, I dare say comfortably sort of
in that run. So I don't know, man. What's the want?
You became undisputed.
What's the want now?
He's 34, he's got a family, maybe call it.
Yeah, I mean, not that old, all things considered, but.
34 is not old.
Yeah.
If you live the life.
Right.
Like Echo's 36.
Echo looked like he was 26.
Echo's under 26.
Josh Taylor's gas tank ran empty after three or four rounds.
And I do wonder that Josh Taylor's only had one fight a year for the last five years.
I mean, we spoke about our list of exciting fighters we want to see. Everyone on that list is fighting two, three times a year.
Just said one fight a year for the last five years.
I know he had eye surgery, but what's going on, dude?
But it's not active enough.
Whereas before he used to fight three, four times a year.
How's that gone down to once a year? So again, if Josh really wants it,
then I think the first thing you can do is stay active if he really wants it.
And again, these are questions he's going to have to ask himself.
He was a moderate favorite as well, minus 330. So somewhat of an upset there for Echo, the adopted pride of Nottingham.
So, a big win for him fighting out of that great city, that fine city, the city of champions.
Do you think we see Josh back?
Well, conference league champions, conference league.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, in his defeats, normally when a fighter gets completely bashed up, I'm the
first.
When a fighter gets stopped or knocked out, I'm like, okay, enough's enough.
Josh isn't getting bashed up.
I know those highlights probably go against what I'm saying, but Josh is in competitive
fights.
They're close.
The Tia Fima Lopez fight wasn't a blowout, nor was the second Jack Cattle fight, and
nor was what happened on Saturday.
So he's probably thinking, if I can just knuckle down
and make some adjustments, maybe I can get over the line.
But I don't know.
I think maybe they should go one more,
see if he has it, and then call it.
Just one more, at that kind of same level,
and then see if he's got it still.
Yeah, somewhat reminiscent of Lee Wood
just a couple of weeks ago where people are like,
is that it, or is there one more?
I know that his resume, a lot more extensive than Lee's,
but it feels like the same type of talk in the aftermath
of a homecoming fight for Josh Taylor.
All right, fun show, packed show, a lot of talk,
a lot of discourse, a lot of debate.
Again, let us know in the comments,
give us your top 10 popcorn list,
let us know what we got right, what we got wrong,
whose list was better, and of course,
we want to see yours as well.
Appreciate Fabio Wardley stopping by.
Looking forward to that scene.
You'll be there, right?
June 7th?
I will be there.
I will be there looking forward to it.
Again, my sister lives in Ipswich.
Wow.
So she's asked for like 100 tickets in a right study.
I can give you two.
Wow.
So she's gonna come.
She's gonna come.
You guys are so lucky with all these stadium shows.
We don't get anything.
We are.
No, we are.
We don't.
We don't get anything.
I mean, we have...
You don't.
We get the odds.
We go from big fights to big fights to big fights.
You guys, I don't know.
Every single weekend.
Yeah, it's crazy.
But our time will come.
For now though, excited about what's going on over there.
And again, a big one in Las Vegas this week.
And we'll be back next week to talk about all that and more.
Have no fear for now though,
we say goodbye for Adé for our great team here in New York.
I'm Ariel.
Thank you for watching.
Enjoy the fights.
We'll talk to you next week.
