On Tuesday night, Dana White broke massive news, announcing three fights — Magomed Ankalaev vs. Alex Pereira, Merab Dvalishvili vs. Cory Sandhagen, and Jiri Prochazka vs. Khalil Rountree — to take place at UFC 320, with Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane set to headline UFC 321. Ariel Helwani and the Boys in the Back give their immediate reactions to the fights, discuss which is the most significant booking, predicts odds for the announced title fights and more.

And so as we do around these parts over at the number one unbiased outlet in all of combat sports, Uncrowned, here at the HQ we have to react to said Breaking News because said Breaking News is worth reacting to some juicy juicy Blockbuster fights announced just seconds ago by the one and only Dana White and we shall begin with October 4th UFC 320 Las Vegas, Nevada T-Mobile Arena a three pack of fights that makes the mouth water Holy smokes. This is a tremendous lineup. We begin with the main event, Magomed Ankelyev versus Alex Pereira too for the light heavyweight title.

What a fight that is, of course, it's the one that we wanted to see. Since Ankelyev beat Alex Pereira back in March, there was some talk of it happening in August in Chicago, not to be, it will happen a month and a half or so later in Las Vegas Sight of the crime sight of the big upset win Frank alive over prayer and since then poking poking he doesn't want it He doesn't want it. He doesn't want to fight. Let me fight someone else where they I mean, they're running it back

It's going to happen can't wait for that the build the run-up all the talk leading up to it should be a lot of fun That's the main event. Co-main event. Expected this perhaps in December, but what could you say about Marabdowali Shvili? Best cardio in the game in the cage, best cardio in the game outside of the cage as well because his activity is off the charts. He returns to action on October 4th, co-main event, UFC 320 against Corey Sanhagen. This is the one that we wanted. Marabdowali Shvili And I think we all thought, all right, maybe New York, November, maybe December, Las Vegas. No, Marab says, let's get it out of the way. Let's fight in October. That's four title fights in the span of 13 months. Like 12 and a half months. That's an incredible pace. Much respect, more power to him. And then also on that card, also third fight, gigantic fight, the returning Khalil Rountree who just fought back in late June in Baku tremendous win over Jamal Hill a Beautiful performance in my opinion going up against Yuri Prochaska. Yes They are giving us this fight a potential number one contender fight at 205 pounds on the same card in which the title is being defended I love this fight. This is the fight that I wanted to see after Yiri beat Jamal back in January

in Inglewood, California. That was his last performance. I thought they would book them. They didn't. They booked Jamal against Khalil Rowntree in April. That fight got scrapped. They moved it to June. Rowntree proves his point, exclamation point, five round dominant performance. And now these two are going to fight. That fight is going to be absurd. I think of all the fights announced today, that might be my going to fight that fight is going to be absurd. I think of all the fights announced today that might be my favorite one. That fight is going to be absurd. The striking, the battle on the feet. I don't know if a single takedown will be attempted. A single shot in that fight. I cannot wait for those two. Do not blink. Three rounds by the way. I think. I don't think Dana announced five rounds and to be honest with two title fights above it, I would be surprised if it was a five round fight. But that to me is a number one contender fight. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Then three weeks later UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi. Sight of this weekend's card on ABC. This one of course a numbered show UFC 321 headline by the fight that we all thought would end up on this card as well and it is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world the pride of Wigan the one and only Tommy Espino, Espino, Tommy Espino, na na na na na na na. Tommy Espino, Espino, Tommy. Defending his undisputed gold, technically for the very first time against the pride of France, the French prince himself, Bon Gamin himself, the one and only surreal gun.

These two have been going back and forth for the better part of two, maybe three years. Well, this was the fight that we all thought was going to happen in Tom's official first title defense. And so it is in fact going to happen. Tom wanted to fight in Abu Dhabi. That was the sense that we got when he became undisputed champion.

He didn't want to wait for New York. Let's be honest, the taxes a little better over there in Abu Dhabi compared to New York for an Englishman, for anyone, if we're being 100% honest. And so he wanted to be active. He wanted to fight in October. He wanted to fight in Abu Dhabi compared to New York for an Englishman, for anyone, if we're being 100% honest. And you'll recall a few weeks ago I said, it's looking like Magomed and Alex, October 4th, it's looking like Tom versus Cyril, October 25th, and it's looking like

JDM vs. Islam in New York. That would be the next pay-per-view. Now, that hasn't been officially announced. That hasn't been signed, sealed, and delivered. But at this point, I would be surprised, considering how the chips just fell earlier today. I would be surprised if it doesn't play out that way. For now, though, four incredible fights, four amazing fights, all happening in the span of 21 days. October 4th, pay-per-view, October 25th, pay-per-view,

one in Las Vegas, one in Abu Dhabi. No issues, no notes, no real problems with any of these. I said the one that jumped out to me that was like, oh damn, we're getting this, was Yuri versus Khalil Raochi because that was the only one that we weren't quite a hundred percent like we all knew that Murab's next fight was going to be in his Corey. We all knew Magomed's next fight was going to be against Alex.

And we all suspected that Tom's first title defense, official title defense would be against a real guy. That was the only one that was out there that was like, we want it to happen. We would like for it to happen, but they could go in a bunch of different ways. And so when I saw that, I was like, yes, incredible. Love that fight. Love that it's on the same card as the title fight. It should be a number one contender fight. Love the matchup. Love the style of the two of them coming together. Their fighting styles are similar in some ways because they like to strike, but very different in the way in

which they strike. Love everything about it. So tremendous stuff there. No pay-per-view, by the way, in September, the Noche UFC card was turned into a fight night and perhaps we are benefiting from that. They don't need a title fight in September. It's gonna be Diego Lopez against John Silva. And so they can move one of those title fights. We get the second title fight on the October 4th pay-per-view

and then we get Tom. A lot of people are waiting for a UFC 319 co-main event. Who knows when if what that might be but you're getting four incredible fights here announced just moments ago by the one and only Dana White. What jumped out to you guys? What did you guys get excited about when you saw this? We were literally walking out the door. I think what jumped out to all of us was, we have to stick around and do a third show today, but other than that, putting your fan hat on, Connor, I see you itching. What do you wanna say?

I mean, well, Rick reads that tweet about 45 seconds later and I don't think we'd be able to do a show. Literally, backpacks on. What sticks out to me the most is that we're going to get a yuri fight against Khalil Roundtree, an Alex Pereira fight, trying to get his belt back, and Tom Aspinall defending his undisputed heavyweight title all in the span of like 22 days.

Oh yeah, and then Lobin, Murad versus Corey on that as well. I mean, 320 is looking unbelievable. They always stack the Abu Dhabi card, so I imagine there's gonna be much more fights to come on that behind Tom Aspinall and Cyril Ghan, but as far as announcements go, the month of October is looking very nice for the UFC. Rick? The beginning of the Tom Aspinall era starts in October. Yes. That is my number one reaction. Finally we have pen to paper

Tom Aspinall has his marching orders and that is the beginning of the heavyweight king's reign. I love that, I love that. And then he wins that fight, and then he defends the belt against John Jones at the White House on July 4th. Now maybe you slip like, Buchacha in there, maybe you slip Derrick Lewis in there,

and then he defends the belt again. You're giving Marcus Buchacha a title fight after one fight fighting the curtain-jerk around Saturday? Rick wants the thumbnail for Boys in the Back on Thursday to be like, Tom Aspinall's worst nightmare and it's a picture of Butch Degg. I actually proposed that by the way. He hasn't done anything. Aspinall responding. I remember when Aspinall was in France, when Gan fought, like this has to be the fight. This absolutely has to be the fight. I don't know if it's officially been announced, but I would assume that's- But they're doing the right thing. Yeah, it's gonna be on this card, so Volkov can just get the shot if he beats J.L.T.

Yes, yes, and I like that they're doing this more and more, putting a top contender fight on the same card. They're doing it obviously with the light heavyweight. So there's three title fights. Are all three champions going to still be the champion when these fights are over? How many, like what's the line at title changes? I would set it over under two and a half.

and let's just say he wins, because I'm not saying it's a cupcake fight of feticomplia. I mean, I have so much respect, so much love for Kori Sani, and I think he will be, I think Kori Sanihan is gonna be his toughest fight since, when was the last time a Rob was in like a real? Umar was not like an easy fight. He lost the first two rounds of that Umar fight.

Yeah, I always kind of felt like he was gonna figure it out. I did too, but on paper, like Umar gave him a load. Rob Vellashvili has a chance to be the fighter of the year if he's able to defend his belt in the Tour of San Angus. That's three tighter defenses. Easy, yeah.

Against elite, elite competition. Magomed would be in the, I mean, I don't even think there's anyone who will have fought three times as far as the champion is concerned. Yuri and Alex on the same card is just like sign me up

and then you're putting Murat versus Corey, it's great. And I like that they gave Tom his wish. I like that they gave Tom what he wanted. He wanted to fight in Abu Dhabi, he wanted to fight. I don't think he asked for Suril, but I think they all sort of came to the conclusion that Suril Gan was the guy, that it was the one that made the most sense. Have Almeida fight Volkov,

there's not a lot of interest in the Volkov fight, he beat him already. If Almeida could get by Volkov, he would 100% be next in my opinion. Would you have even considered Derrick Lewis? I think they made this determination before Derrick Lewis fought. Y'all are sleeping on that wall.

Tom Aspinall is undisputed champion, he's about to defend his title against Seregan, who I don't give much of a chance of beating him, and all of a sudden you cut to cage side and the looming shadow of John Jones is sitting right there, it will be absolutely idiotic for the UFC to do that. What you do is you trot the winner out from Volkoff versus Jelton and have him sit cage side. And then, yeah, you do that for Tom turns to them

and he's just like, if, who's that? Yeah, I don't even know this, Dremot. Get him out of here. If John Jones is going to get back into a feud with the hot mask and all, and that is actually going to be the White House fight, you have infinite time to do that. And the moment John Jones declares that

I don't think, look, if Tom Espinel shot a double leg on Cyril, I'm confident he'd take him down and be able to sub him relatively fast. I just, I don't think Cyril is going to be willing to engage with Tom in the middle of the cage, and so I expect it will take a little. Maybe I'm wrong, but it feels like Cyrilogon's lack of grappling ability and his lack of ability

to have that one hitter quitter knockout power is going to be problematic against Tom Aspinall, a guy that can just finish you at any moment. If Tom, so everyone's gonna compare Tom's performance to John's performance against Serogon. If Tom wants to try to outdo John's performance, he is going to have to go, unless he gets it at 203 or 202 on the dot, below his historic record-breaking.

I think Tom knocking out Cyril will be viewed as more significant than Tom submitting Cyril or the way that John submitted Cyril. The John one was just so shocking because John's moving up to heavyweight, we hadn't seen him in forever, and all of a sudden he walks in there

If Tom goes out there and ices Cyril Gonn, it will be viewed, even if it takes a round and a half, it will be viewed as very significant. I pray that Tom doesn't feel any sort of pressure to beat that 204-minute mark as a comparison to John Jones. No. Because something that's a lot more important than finishing Zero Gone faster than John Jones is beating Zero Gone, period. You can't lose the fight.

You can't put yourself in harm's way and slip on a banana peel. No, but I can't wait. It will have been 15 months between fights. His last fight, I do believe, was July 27th, up top my head. It was this week last year. I remember, because I was in Paris,

and he called me in the middle of the night to show me the hands in the gasoline. It was the final week of July, and so this will be the final week of October. A year later, it will be 15 months. He did train to be the backup fighter for the Stipe fight, but let's be honest, that's nothing. 15 months in between fights in the prime of his life, healthy, ready to go. It's unbelievable, played out this way.
