Welcome back to the crack, ladies and gentlemen.
It is me, Pizzie Carroll.
How are you all doing?
Isn't it a wonderful weekend?
I sure hope it is, because it's only Friday,
and we don't know what the next two days have in store.
However, we must bring an end to our weekly column on this show discussing
what's going to happen with AJ and Fury because it is confirmed.
But fear not, there is still lots of drama to unfold because you think everyone would be happy.
You think he'll be like, oh yeah, we got the UK thing, you know, done deal, let's do a victory lap.
No, we are not quite there yet, folks.
It is still a very, very dramatic situation that's unfolding and we will get into that shortly.
We have not spoke to you, well, the crack has not spoke to you since all of the thrills and spills of UFC 3-3 runs.
So we're going to get into that too.
A lot of Gables Steven takes still have to be reheated.
and we're going to talk about Joshua Van,
which we have been all week on the Ariel Hwani show
and the boys on the back did yesterday.
Just how good is this kid?
Oh yeah, oblique kicks?
Ben wrote a little something about that the other day.
Andy Foster pushing for a ban on some of,
one of the most utilized techniques by the great John Jones
and we see it a lot with Ian Gary too.
What do we think of this?
It's all ahead of us, guys.
But before we bring in my beautiful, beautiful friends,
let's have a quick word from our friends over at Calci.
That's right.
This episode is sponsored by Calci, the largest prediction market in the United States.
Here's what makes Calci different.
You are not playing against the house.
Calci is fair-to-peer trading you by yes or no contracts on whether something will happen
and you're trading directly against other users.
Think of it like buying or selling a stock.
The line isn't set by some algorithm working against you.
Public opinion sets the price, baby.
Calci is CFTC approved, federally regulated,
which is why it's available all across the country.
That's right.
including California and Texas.
Download the Calci app and use code crack.
That's C-R-A-I-C to get $25 off when you trade $25.
K-A-L-S-H-I.
Calci.
Trade what's next.
Well, that was just lovely.
Love to give a bit of love to my friends over at Calci,
but you know what I love even more?
Chuck Mendenhall and the Great Ben folks.
Get the hell in here, boys.
Look at these two handsome devils.
And we haven't frozen yet.
This is all very good.
Not yet.
This is all very positive.
Oh, look at this.
Don't make any goofy faces just in case, you know what I mean?
They have me biting the lip there.
If we go to freeze frame again, everyone loves that picture.
Lads, how are we getting on?
Chook, how was the form, my friend?
How was the what?
The form, your form, your general farm, you know what I mean?
Oh, okay.
It's fit-ish.
It could be better, pizza.
It could be better.
Now, everything's good here, man.
Gearing up for a big Sunday night game.
I don't know if you're still watching the NFL.
Oh, yeah.
But I know that.
Do you have a fantasy team?
I don't remember.
I do have a fantasy team.
He remembers.
He's,
oh, I do.
He remembers.
I haven't you played him yet.
He,
he surely reads the weekly emails from the commissioner.
The commissioner,
obviously because everyone does,
where he hands out awards.
Pizzi received another award this week.
Yeah.
I did.
Do you want to tell him what it was for?
Yeah.
This one was a positive one.
Thank you.
Yeah.
You got your first win of the season, despite serious front office issues in the management of this team.
You're on the board now.
The locker room's toxic.
You pulled off the narrowest victory of the week.
I was a big underdog.
I'm a big underdog again this week against Aunt Evans, but I just happened to have
Bejohn Robinson on my team.
And he ran for 35 points last night.
So I'm very excited about destroying Aunt this week.
Very, very excited about it.
Ben, you seem to have forgotten you were playing fancy football last weekend
despite being the commissioner of the league.
Things didn't go great for your boy.
All of your team was injured.
Everyone.
A lot of people just, it's early.
People maybe aren't in peak season form that they need to be.
That's something we're going to think about with our offseason conditioning program.
Scored the lowest points in the league, the fewest points in the league last week.
But I'm up against Chuck, I believe, this week is going on head to head.
Yeah, I don't like my chances.
I was looking at my matchups.
I don't really love this.
But I'm hoping for some, I'm hoping for like a reversal of fortune because I just don't want to hear about it from Ben.
I just don't want to, I don't want to be that guy to hear it from Ben.
Like you took that in that first week.
He texts you and lets you know that it's going terrible.
I mean, the thing is, I'm looking at my lineup.
There's a lot of cues next to the guy's names, which I assume stands for quick and fast out there on the football team.
You believe that for one more week at least, please.
But look, I would genuinely love to talk about the NFL for the next hour.
But we can't do that, boys, because we got the big news yesterday.
That's right.
It's happening at the Principality Stadium there in December, Fury v. Joshua on UK soil in a stadium.
A roofed, roofed stadium.
That's right.
Wembley Stadium does not have a roof, but the Principality there over in Wales.
has one. It's a beautiful stadium.
It has hosted many, many
big events. And, you know,
I was thinking,
this is it. Like, you know, all of the debate
is over. I mean, Eddie's got what he
wants. He gets to say, I'm Mr.
UK. I did it. For you guys,
let's forget about five years ago
and I'm saying it's happening in Saudi,
like it or a lump it. I really need this fight to happen
in the UK. You'd think he'd be happy.
Well, let's have a listen to how Eddie
feels about the situation.
Pain of White told everybody, he's promoting the show,
He's bringing the fight to America.
He knows where the venue is.
Obviously, we know that didn't happen.
Dana White cannot be involved with this fight promotion.
Netflix clearly didn't get the memo.
You see, no one talks to each other.
So I speak to Seller and Turkey.
No, Dana White is not involved in the fight.
You've got a contract that says that.
He won't beat the press up, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And then Netflix say, oh, yes, the fight's in conjunction with Dana White.
So now we have to go through that process and deal with him.
them. It's a little bit annoying, to be honest with you. But as I've shown through the UK battle
that we won, we stand by our contracts. And he cannot be involved in the fight. And I've said to
Netflix, like, you know, we've got a lot of stuff to still sort out around the fight. You know,
that, the, the preferences of who gets what, obviously they've announced it's Fury against AJ.
No problem. We couldn't care less. But you must have signed for that. Obviously,
That was never agreed.
No.
Really?
I was going to ask you about that.
Why, if you were you're not here.
So we're supposed to do a press conference next week.
I'm not sure whether that will happen or not, to be honest with you,
because there are a few things we're still ironing out.
But, and that's obviously one of them.
When I saw the press release, I just couldn't stop pissing myself.
Because it was like, you really got them to include your name in the press conference.
You silly, soppy tit.
It was like, you know, and it's so petty to the point where
I just can't like you've lost me you've lost you did everything you could to bring the fight to
America and rob the British fight fans of the fight give it up son you're coming to the copper box
on Saturday you've sold about 2,000 tickets right you'll be sitting there you don't even know who's
fighting yeah because what you did you came in and all you lot and was like yeah we'll just take this
fight the biggest fight in the history of British boxing one of the biggest sporting events in the
history of Britain and we'll just put it in Madison Square goal
They'll come for a few more quid. Well, guess what? Motherfucker. That didn't happen. And now you want to put yourself in a press release so you can sit there and go, I told you I was the promoter. No, you sat there and you said, I know where it is. I know where it is. Well, you didn't, did you? Because you said it was at Madison Square Garden. So you've lost there and you'll lose here as well. And I'll be speaking to Netflix just to remind them, right, of their contractual obligations. And it'll be dealt with like we did.
dealt with the other situation. But these people make it very, very difficult for themselves
because we're supposed to have a presser next week. We still got, now we've got stuff to sort out.
Well, you know, interesting, he brings up this presser of watching all of the, the reactions.
Everything now is on, will there be a press conference on Wednesday? Because Eddie needs them to
follow the contract as he put it down. What are we thinking about all this, Ben? I know you love that
Soppy tit comment.
You silly soppy tit.
See, when he says that, I'm like, okay, that's a thing.
That's a phrase that Eddie Hearn could use that me with my American accent, I could never pull that off.
I want to pull it off.
I want somebody to cut me off in traffic so I can lean out the window and say, you silly,
soppy tit.
And it's just not going to work.
The same way, though, when he says motherfucker in that clip, you're like, no.
It don't sound right, man.
You're right.
It rings false against the ear.
But then later at some point in the same interview where he tells Dana White, you've been royally mugged off.
Hats down, bent over, butt cheeks spanked.
He's got it written down.
I mean, I had this quote ready because I wanted to make sure telling somebody that they've been royally mugged off.
I'm just like, yeah, I don't know what it means, but I'm going to be using that.
That's going to enter the lexicon.
on henceforth, especially when he said the part about bed over pants down, but cheeks spanked.
I was thinking about Pizzi talking about how he's had his pants down about this matchup several times before.
I still not entirely sure.
Yeah, what it means.
But the thing is, especially when he's talking about like, oh, he's data why he's so petty.
He's got to get his name in this press for, and it's just like, you both are, though.
are being rather petty about it.
Here we go.
Like one of the biggest boxing matches in years and on Netflix in a stadium.
This thing's going to be huge.
This is when you're talking about how you should be into that 50, 60, 70 million viewer range that you know, you got to with like Mike Tyson on Netflix.
You should do crazy numbers with this thing.
You finally got it done.
Everybody was thinking, all right, you guys are going to ruin the chance to make this big fight.
You've finally got it done.
Here it is.
And you guys are essentially.
arguing over who deserves more of the credit for the school project.
You guys are like the people where you want your executive producer credit to be in slightly bigger type than his executive producer credit on the movie poster.
And everybody else is going, we don't care.
We just want to see the movie.
We just want to see the damn thing.
You guys are sitting here arguing over whose name gets to go where, who gets to be in the press.
It's a press release, man.
it only goes out to the press and even we don't care that much about the fabricated quotes that are always in the film release.
Didn't even open.
They don't.
All we care about is, is it happening yes or no?
The general public really doesn't care about what's in a press release.
And you guys are just battling tooth and nail over this stuff.
It's your grown men.
Damn it.
You're supposed to be grown men.
It's absurd.
See, this is what's fun about it, though.
Ben, you just outlined everything that's beautiful about this situation.
Come on.
Don't you want that?
I mean, that's like to put it in your veins type thing, right?
Like, this is, this is the fight within the fight.
You know what I mean?
I almost thinking, I think Ariel might have alluded to this too, but like,
it almost kind of brings a something more to the fight.
Yeah.
Isn't it?
Like this, this kind of, this pissy battle between the promoters.
I love this so much in a strange way.
I think in part because we have covered Dana White, you know, a long, long time.
Since, you know, going back into the aughts for a long time.
we've been covering this guy.
And there really has,
there hasn't been anybody who goes and pokes the bear.
And especially in the way that Eddie is doing this,
like this little victory lap,
like what would you expect?
It's like we've,
it's almost like an expected pettiness that you wait for now.
Like as soon as this stuff was happening,
you're like,
okay,
what's Eddie going to say?
What's Dana going to say?
This,
this to me is a lot of fun.
But nobody has really done this with Dana,
have they?
Like, can you guys recall anybody other than like Tito
or like some disgruntled fighter who goes and they do like something,
but you just haven't seen it from a,
this would be.
be more like if Scott Coker or Bjorn Rebney or somebody was just taking swings at him every time
they could. We haven't seen it. So it's like this is what it's fun about it. And now, and you know,
Jake Paul, remember Jake Paul? That is true. That is getting into the promoter game. I just
that's true. I recall a video. Jake Paul sitting in the, the driver's seat of like a Lamborghini.
He had an Irish leg. And he's in like his driveway and he's smoking a cigar. And he really,
I remember it because he really leaned into the language. It was like the way Draco Malphoid.
would fit his mouth up to say the P and Potter, and he said, Dana White, you bald bitch, and
like, blow on the smoke from his cigar.
And you're like, man, he's, we love it too.
Also, also, Colby with the phone when he started when the casino dot time, that was pretty close.
Yeah, we got more than he bargained for on that one.
But this is, okay, I'll concede, like, the Paul thing is kind of, it's kind of similar,
but I guess we haven't seen Paul in the role that much.
And it just feels like the new kid on the block just, you know, doing the stuff.
This is Eddie Hearn.
So it's like, to me, it's like, okay, you got one of boxing's big voices going against the
MMA's big voice and they're colliding.
That's fun, man.
I mean, I just, I don't know where it ends up, but it is going to be fun.
Now, now there's like all these subplots, this thing about like the press conferences.
There are tons of people going to tune in to watch this, aren't they?
Are they not?
I feel like it's a big deal.
It's, it would be such a loss if we don't have Dana and Eddie fighting out at these press conferences,
regardless of what's written in the contract at this stage.
Ariel did a video yesterday reacting to this
and I picked up on some of the things he was saying about
how people might get creative
to put Dana in the mix here.
Here's Ariel, give us a rundown.
And when Ariel says things,
I tend to have my ears perk up because he's on that insider track.
Let's have a listen to this.
So I wouldn't be surprised, to be honest,
if Eddie isn't up on the day's.
If you see AJ and maybe a trainer or maybe AJ solo,
Maybe it's just AJ and Tyson.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's Eddie,
excuse me, AJ Dana and Tyson up there.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's AJ Turkey and Tyson.
Or if they put Max Kellerman up there,
they may do that to, you know, split the apple,
if that's the term.
That is something that a lot of people are interested in.
but I think it won't be a Zufa boxing event and because of that,
Eddie is saying Dana can't be involved.
But what if, you know, Tyson says Eddie's my guy.
He's my manager for this fight.
There's going to be a lot of fuckery as Dana likes to say.
Excuse me, as Eddie likes to say as well.
So there we go.
Areal.
Pat McAfee.
Can we get Pat McAfee up on the stage for them?
He's everywhere else, right?
God.
I've never seen a TV show in the last year that he hasn't been on.
Pat McAfee.
He's popping about on Earth.
I think there are several Pat McAfee up.
faeys in circulation right now.
Like Saddam Hussein back in the day.
Just you don't know if it's a real one every time you see him.
But yeah, it is very interesting.
But, you know, to Chuck's point, Ben,
wouldn't it be such a shame if it was just like Turkey,
AJ and Tyson up there and we didn't have any kind of payoff
from this year-long feud between Eddie and Dana?
I mean, imagine you get it's,
Turkey, Tyson and AJ up there, just the three of them.
And then you see this scuffling behind the curtain.
You see the curtain bulge out.
You hear the, and it's just like, and Dana White and Eddie Hearns spill out
like two like cartoon cats fighting each other.
Like that would be kind of the perfect situation.
It is like the, I can't tell what the k-fabe might be on stuff like this.
Like, are we aware that this stuff is helping?
sell the fight because see if any
Heard is doing a bit here
He's doing it very convincingly
I don't think so I think I'm sold
Yeah he seems like very and especially because it's like
To be getting what you want
You're getting so much of what you want here right like you're getting this fight
It's it's in the UK going to be in a stadium in Cardiff
Big deal on Netflix all that stuff
And then Dana White's name is in the press release and that's the thing that
really is right
years, you can't stand it.
Isn't it funny, too, that, like,
I mean, like, you look at the
the way this has all gone down and Tyson
Fury himself, right, being on
the treadmill and just being one of the housewives
of New Jersey or whatever the hell. He said, like, he's on there,
like, he's perpetuating this thing with
his own, like, drama and stuff. It's not happen.
It's off, man, it's off. And I'm like, this is
like, it feels like a saga. It feels like we're watching, like, reality
TV, this whole thing. And, you know,
but it's just being filmed in interviews,
through interviews. Yeah.
But man, it's, it's, it's going to be fun.
I think that, but honestly, I think Eddie Hearn is genuinely, like, he is,
Dana is so under his skin, you can feel it.
You can feel it that he's like, he just loves every chance he gets to, to go back at him.
So, yeah, but what's the flip at then, Chuck?
Like, is, has Dana in fact been royally mugged off?
I mean, mugged off for those of you don't know would be like,
if you're mugging someone off, you're kind of dismissing them, or you're embarrassing them.
You mugged yourself off.
You look like a prick, mate.
You left, like the pants down situation.
Imagine someone pantses you in the busiest place in the world.
You've been mugged off in that situation.
You've been left with your tallywacker waving in the breeze, as I've said before.
It's not a good image.
The old Romero.
Yes, the old soldier of Rod.
Tell me, do you think, like, because this is very white collar stuff, to Ben's point,
this is not, this is further, further away from, like, what happens in the ring.
This are two guys like basically arguing over boy lines.
And do you think, like, I happen, I do feel like Dana will be pissed about this.
I do feel like after everything he said, like, remember the thing with the old jacket?
He's like, oh, I made the faith.
I know where the fight's happening.
Does Eddie know where the fight's happening?
Right.
All this kind of stuff.
What do you think?
I mean, he does come off looking.
I mean, but, you know, they're both looking.
They both look funny through this process.
My thing, though, is, will Dana, like, can he just take this?
and not be there.
Like, that he isn't, things like this don't sit well with him.
When something's publicly going against him or the perception is, you know, he'll,
he tries to figure it out in a fell swoop or he shows up and, you know,
smites his chest in a weird way and like, you're like, oh, there he is, you know,
I just can't imagine that he won't be there or like, you know, at least be involved in this
on the level that he intends.
Like, he, I don't think he takes this kind of ill.
That's the problem, you know.
So I don't know, like, if a contract or like how they'll skirt this, but obviously
being with, you know, the cella kind of being in between everything and, you know, with Dana
kind of being with Turkey.
Like, I feel like they can figure this out if they want to.
And I just, I can't imagine that Dana's just not going to be part of this, you know, just
because Eddie's saying that he can't.
Yeah.
It's, um, we mentioned Toys and Fury on the big talk yesterday was like, we've heard, I heard
talk sports saying like, we've heard, we've seen Joshua say this is great.
We've seen Turkey say this is great.
We've seen Eddie say this is great.
aside from a few grievances with the with the contract, of course,
but we haven't heard from Toys and Fury.
And let me tell you, I personally have not heard what Tyson Fury has to say,
but the great Ariel O'Anne has sent us an update and we'll be listening to this live
altogether.
He is not on a treadmill.
He is not on a treadmill.
I'm going to be honest with you.
He's in a driving at least.
No, he's not even driving.
Laying down in bed?
Not even laying down.
He's sitting down in a real chair.
I mean, that doesn't.
Yeah, I didn't know he did things like that.
It's crazy.
It's got to be AI.
It can't be real.
Rolling, Andy.
Let's see it.
Rumored to be involved.
So I hear, yeah, he's promoter, and he?
I think so, yeah.
So after all of Eddie Earn's bumsmacking,
and then we only wanted it in England to get rid of Dana White,
I'm sure it just got announced by Ring that Dana White and Ringer are promoting this fight.
How fucking matters that?
Damn.
I saw an interview, actually, with, I think it was at Kuggan,
with Eddie Hearn saying that he wasn't involved, but...
He wasn't involved, but I'm sure.
I'm absolutely sure.
that I've just seen her post from Ring
saying that Ring and Dana White
are promoting this fight.
But actually, in Joshua's contract, apparently,
it says that they can't.
They couldn't, TCO and Dana couldn't be involved.
But that was in mine.
But I took it out.
I took it out so he could be involved.
Fuck them.
Yeah, I want him involved.
Two baldies together.
I like Dana.
Good businessman.
And a good guy.
Man who come from nothing to being a billionaire.
And look what he's done with the UFC.
Unbelievable.
I think he can do really well in boxing.
I think he drives Eddie Earn out,
feeds him to the fishers.
I haven't got no problem with Eddie.
Never have done.
He's just got a rival boxer,
and that's it.
There's no big deal between me and Eddie.
Like, I'd go out for a beer with Eddie earned today.
I wouldn't give a thought.
And tomorrow, and the day after,
and next week, and after the fight, no problem.
Listen, either way, yeah, this fight,
whatever happens,
I'll take him and his palis.
out for a few guineas.
Probably have another fight after that,
another 10 Guinness, and then have...
Well, there you go.
Kids got drinking on his brain, doesn't he?
He's not going to light you.
I mean, Andy put up a picture of Ben having a beer
and eating into chicken wings earlier on,
and I was like, that would be a dream.
There it is.
See, I was wondering if we're going to see it.
Ready?
You had it ready?
That is a dream.
Like, I was looking at this saying,
this is where I want to be in life.
There's another one where you're like getting fish hooked or something.
Yeah, well,
That was from when Chad Dundas and I went down to Buffalo Wildlings,
when the BMF belt was new.
Oh, yeah.
And they had a promotion where they were like,
we're going to be doing the BMF wings for this event.
And we went down to our local Buffalo Wild Wings.
For one thing, they were not showing the fight.
They were not going to buy the pay-per-view.
And when we asked about the BMF wings, they were like, what now?
And we showed them, talk about having a press release come in handy.
We showed them the press release on our phone.
And they were, and then they were like, yeah.
Yeah, no, yeah, we could do that.
And then they just went up.
Yeah, they just went and put like five of the hottest spices they had together on some wings.
It was awful.
I did not enjoy that as all as you could see on my face there.
Here's the thing.
When people start arguing about this stuff, oh, God damn it.
Well, they start arguing about stuff like this, this petty stuff, who's going to be involved?
Who's going to be able to be?
Who knows?
Like, especially when they were doing it, like in advance, I know where it's going to be.
Do you know where it's going to be?
I'm not telling you, but I know.
and it's so childish.
It's so just like middle school kids trying to,
everybody trying to put themselves just a little bit higher than somebody else.
And you're like,
you're all rich dudes in charge of shit.
Is this just proof that for some people,
the void of feeding the ego will never be filled?
No matter what you get,
you're always going to want more.
You always need to be better than somebody else.
I wouldn't look this up because this was a story that immediately came to my mind.
I read it and Esquire once were Charlie Murphy.
There's a great storyteller of all things involved in Hollywood and the celebrity sphere and all the things.
He was talking to Esquire and he told this story.
It's a great, he has a great conclusion.
The lesson he takes from the story is very interesting too.
I was sitting in this mogul's house.
My brother, he means Eddie Murphy, was there and they were having lunch.
It was real nice going down to the beach and everything.
And we see this woman walking on the beach.
It's Diana Ross.
I ran down there and got her.
So now we're sitting in this room.
Diana Ross is sitting with Eddie in the mogul section.
I'm with some common folk on the other side.
We're talking, having fun.
One guy happens to use the F word.
And Diana Ross comes all the way across the room and says,
excuse me, I don't know who you gentlemen are,
but I don't tolerate any profanity in my vicinity.
Now, we're not at Diana Ross's house.
We're in another house.
We don't work for her.
That's what we're all thinking.
And one guy goes, fuck you, Diana.
She was stunned.
Her face, it looked like pieces of it were falling off.
No one was sorry.
Because what sticks out in this story for me is,
why are people kissing Diana Ross's ass?
Is she God?
No, she sang on some records and did a good job.
I'd give her props.
But that doesn't make you more of an adult than me.
That doesn't give you any more rights than me.
Being your fan is optional.
If you forget that, because everybody's been blowing sunshine up your ass,
you're putting yourself in the position to take a fall.
That's the moral of the story.
Always stay humble.
It's the only way you can't get here.
humiliated. Now wait a minute. You, you're saying like, oh, man, they had that, that wing shot ready and you had this ready. Like, you're ready to hold this thing out. I was just like, this is exactly what it reminds me of. These people are not remembering the lesson that Charlie Murphy tried to impart here about staying humble so you can never be humiliated. They are doing the opposite of that. And that's how you get royally mugged off, Beezzie. That is. You can't get mugged off if you don't try to put yourself up above other people like this.
the time. Yeah, that is true. But I'll tell you, the, the Dana element isn't the only thing
that could be an issue because the British Board of Boxing Control, they have only got so many,
like, they have registered promoters. And as far as I know, Ring is not a registered promoter
with the British Board of Boxing Control. So they basically have to get someone to front this.
And guess who has a great relationship with the British Boxing Board of Control? Of course,
it is Match Room. But it's also Frank Warren, who is usually...
at Toysen's promoter.
Like this, there is many ways
that this could get really, really tasty.
I guess my parting remark on this
will be a question to you guys.
Do you expect the press conference on Wednesday
to go off without a hitch,
Chuck Mendenhall?
Or will it be one of these things that
it's not happening now because this and this and this and this
and we have this shit right up until December 11th?
I really don't know.
I feel like with Fury though, especially like anything's
possible.
isn't it? Yeah. Like, he just kind of adds this dimension to the thing. I would be, I think at this point, though, that they've raised the kind of attention to it in a dramatic, in like a sort of dramatic sense. So like if they don't, if the thing doesn't produce something, there's going to be a lot of people disappointed. And I'm guessing that there's going to be a fairly large media condition. We're talking about it quite a bit as MMA guys. And I know that that's what's crazy about it too, because Dana's involvement, there's a lot of MMA interest in this fight. I think just by dint of like the way it's being presented.
but so I feel like there's going to be disappointed if we don't get some drama at this point, you know, that's kind of how they're setting it up.
Yeah.
But can I say something real quick?
Did you get like that, that poster that came out like are that, you know, isn't that the coolest?
Like, was almost like, why don't we get shit like this in MMA?
Like, look at that.
It's beautiful, you know, using the words.
It's because the posters that the USC puts together for a lot of these events now.
They're just sort of patent by numbers.
It's just the same poster over and over again.
This one, somebody actually gave some thought to artistic design.
And look how it's minimalist.
It's not a bunch of stuff all over the place.
They're barely in the frame.
We're working with the fact that it's been so hard to put this thing together.
It's sort of like when they did the Letix Lewis Mike Tyson and they used their names to spell out.
It's on like basically finally.
You know, that that leaning on that here is a great way to go because it's what everybody is thinking.
And like just the fact that there's so much negative space in this thing really like focuses the eye.
70s feel or something.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I thought it was great.
As soon as I saw that come out, I was like, okay, we're doing a good job with some of this stuff.
Somebody actually cares and we're going for it.
You know, the thing to me, you're right, Chuck, that like having Dana White involved in this beef does bring MMA people in.
The other thing I started to think about was I was like, hey, remember when Tyson Fury was at the UFC's White House event?
Oh, yeah.
And we did a whole extremely long walkout for him only so he could come down to the cage.
And John addict would be like, so why are you here?
What do you have to say?
And he was like, nothing.
Not saying nothing.
Like he was like a mob guy under, you know, under oath.
Just being like, I ain't, I ain't saying nothing.
And we're just like, so what are we doing?
You know, and but that, you know, in a weird way helps plant the seed where it's like,
okay, we're getting used to this sort of crossover in these areas of sports.
You're getting him in front of the MMA audience and the more general audience of everything.
And so now these things seem intertwined in a way that if this was happening 10 years ago, you know, they never would have.
Pete, you remember we were sitting backstage in Vegas for Ariel's show and Jason Anick was back there and we were talking about this very thing.
And he's like, yeah, what was that about?
He's wondering about for his brother.
He's like, what was that about?
It's a, it's a nod to how good John is in the moment though, because he was given absolutely nothing.
Any news you want to break there, Tyson?
No.
Oh, well, what the fuck is going on?
I hope he turned to some production assistant.
And then after that segment was over and just, what the hell was that?
I know.
Yeah.
You got my ass flapping.
I've got mugged off out here, you guys.
The biggest thing is he just operates how he operates.
Like, he was not concerned about it in the slightest.
He was like, no, I don't got anything.
He's not worried about selling some kind of drama, giving something, you know, like,
he wasn't worried in the slightest.
Crazy.
That's the fun thing.
Like, his walk out took longer than the interview.
He walked for a five minutes and then was like, no, nothing for you guys.
Where am I sitting?
He's like, I always wanted to walk out like that.
Isn't that fun, slow motion?
We obviously are in the aftermath of USC 331, Van having that infatic victory over Pantosia,
Iron and Sarukin, and of course, the Gable Steven situation.
I know Ben was on with the lads, he's been on the common event,
Chuck has been on MK with Luke Thomas,
but I wanted to pick your brains, guys, because you've put out some great stuff about this.
Chuck, your article very well lays out something we're talking about on Monday's show in Ariel's
absence, which is Josh Van is breaking all, like he is approaching like all these records so
early in his UFC tenure. And I only had them laid out to me on Monday and you do a great job
of doing that in the article too. But it really does beg the question, are we already watching
one of the greatest fly weights of all time? And as ridiculous as that sounds, when you back it up
of what he's doing in the octagon, it's kind of hard to dispute it too, right?
Yeah, I mean, it was Shaheen, Alshadiar editor at Uncrown had sent me.
like we should maybe do something on this.
And I looked at it and I was like, that's kind of crazy.
Because I didn't feel like he was getting that shine going into the fight.
Like I didn't feel like people were talking about him in any historic way.
You know, but you understand he's a phenom and he was pretty close to John Jones in age when he wins the title.
But when you look at those numbers and a lot of it was like, I think he's already the most significant strikes.
It was like 1411.
Already ahead of Brandon Marino who has like nine more fights than him.
It's crazy.
You know, and you're like, how is that possible?
That's just an intense amount of volume that he brings to every single fight.
And that he's got not only that, because usually when guys throw with high volume, they don't have winning records.
But he's won eight in a row, which is the second all time behind Demetrius is 13, you know, wins in a row in that division.
And you think about this stuff and you're like, dude, this guy should be like maybe we're not talking about him enough.
Like we come out of it, though, this feeling of Josh Vam, but then you're like, maybe we're not seeing the historic aspect of what he's doing.
the comparable obviously
it would be like John Jones
from back in the day
Ben I mean you guys you remember it
like when he wins the title he's 23 but when he
was 24 he had like three
title defenses and it was kind of like he was just
cleaning out the geriatrics of the division
all the relics from like pride and everything
because he took out like
rampage and he beat Lyota Machita
and who was it Rashad Evans he beats all three of those guys
and you're through that process
you're like it already felt like he was doing
some of his best work like this
prodig he was doing his best work and we were
We're anointing him that way.
I just felt like Van was kind of under the, under the, you know, like we weren't talking
about him going in like this.
But coming out, I feel like that was the revelation is just where he's at.
And it's pretty crazy, man.
Also, his fights are so exciting.
I mean, John Jones was dominating people.
And that was its own form of fun to watch just because you felt like you were watching
somebody who's so far ahead of everybody in the sport.
And Van's fights, though, are really thrilling to watch because if you go back and you
at the record last year 2025, his fight with Brandon Royval, we named that the uncrowned fight of
the year in MMA. Then, you know, the first Pantosha fight where it's over right away because
it's pantosia's arm injury, not really Vans fault. But then he has the first title defense against
Tatsuya Tiro, we were looking at that and being like, well, that's going to be hard to beat as fight
of the year. Then he comes back and has this fight with Pantosia where you're going, well,
if somebody beats Van Tira, it'll be Van Tira. It'll be Van Taurus.
Tosia too. You know, like he's just reeling these off one after another where that's something I think the flyway division really needed because Demetrius Johnson was also dominating. He seemed far ahead of the field. He was taking people out. People just weren't quite warming to it the same way. But with Van, I think if you see some of these highlights, you hear about how great these fights are, how do you not want to see what he does next? That's something that the flyway division really needs. It's not just a dominant champ, but a champ who is turning in really, really exciting fights.
that people are going to be talking about
and that you don't want to miss.
He does feel like he's removing us from that.
Like, is this the end of the Flyway Division
every time the title is happening?
Is this the last fight in the history of this division?
Joshua Van is definitely people not feel that way.
Sorry, Reggie has just joined me here in the studio.
Good dog.
Good old Reg.
He's a legend.
Is it fair to say that Ben,
that Armin Serucan is 100% locked in here
because Justin Gagey doesn't sound all that interest.
He was on flagrant with Andrew Schultz, and he was doing the same all, you know, I don't know really if I've got any left here.
So I don't really.
Yeah, that was a weird interview because when watching it, you don't get any sort of unified consistent sense of what he's thinking.
He seemed to be talking himself out of whatever he said last with whatever he said next, where he would just be like, okay.
At one point, and I saw people going with this headline, and they were him saying,
Armand's next in line.
But then if you look at the full context of the quote,
he was saying, yeah,
if I'm going to defend the lightweight championship.
And if we're going to go by the rankings,
Armin is next in line.
But there were a lot of ifs built into that.
It didn't seem at all like he had 100% decided he was going to stick around and defend the title.
And so you just couldn't really tell exactly what he was thinking there.
He seemed also,
it's almost like,
when did Justin Gehche start?
thinking himself into knots like this over who he's going to fight.
The old Justin Gatesy way of doing it was just show up and throw some rocks that whoever's
across from you.
And now that he's got the champ, now that he's got the title, he's got something to lose.
He's got something that he wants to maximize the value of it in whatever time he has left.
And he at one point referred to himself as being between a rock and a hard place.
And I was like, no, you're between two decisions.
You could make either one.
either one works for you in its own way.
Like there's almost no way to make a bad decision here,
except to just keep hemming and hawn about it forever until people get frustrated with you.
Would you can start to feel happening?
People are looking at it and being like, what are you doing, man?
You just make a decision, decide you're going to, if you're the champ, defend the title.
If you don't want to defend the title, give up the belt and let the division move on.
Like, that's the only way to make a bad decision here is kind of to hang around and make no decision.
It's not a rock in a hard place.
If you don't want to fight, say, I'm going out on top that.
Everybody will understand that.
Everybody will go, hey, you had a great, huge upset performance against Ilya,
hard to top that.
You put in the work, you're a legend of the sport.
You can walk away now.
Nobody blames you for that.
Or you turn around, you defend the title one more time.
Even if you lose to Armand Sarukian, we go, well, hey, you know, it's a tail end of your career.
Armans that is peak right now.
That's fine.
It doesn't really put like a stain on your career or anything.
plus you make a little bit more money going out the door.
That's not a rock in a hard place.
That's between one good decision or another good decision.
Like just stop overthinking it, man.
Yeah, it is really weird.
It's strange too.
It always glars at me when this happens because obviously we saw this John Jones, for instance, right?
Like he's holding the title.
Like Tom Aspinall's waiting.
You're like, dude, are we doing this?
We're going to fight?
We're going to do this thing or not.
And it never happens.
And it feels like you're like you get these champions sometimes.
They're like, nah, I just want to do it the way I want to do it.
I want to stick around.
if this, but otherwise I might go that way.
And it's like that sort of thing just doesn't not fit the UFC model.
No.
Because they need to keep the thing moving because obviously like when they do this type of fight,
you know, even though they made it a little mysterious as to whether it was a title
eliminate or not, you've got the feeling that if Armand made his case because he would be
doing it a second time that he would have to be next.
This is the interest of the sport.
It has to move like this.
And he is next.
So it's like it's kind of like I guess it's a buzzkill in a strange way to be like just
First of all, just make it like this.
Unless you're holding out hope that somebody's going to slide in there and you get
to fight somebody who at a left field, you know, just be like, I'm going to, I'm either
going to leave or I'm fighting Arm on.
You know what I mean?
Like, that's what you would want.
I don't know if there's a negotiation, something going on behind the scenes.
You know, his manager is Ali.
Maybe there's a Newsman, a Normogamato thing that's being tied.
Who knows?
But the bottom line is I'm like, just say that like, hey, I'll take on whoever, if I stick
around, you know, but work that other stuff out behind the.
the scenes. It's just a buzz kill to hear somebody be like, I don't even, I'm not that
interested in that guy. He needs, you know, I agree with everything you're saying,
joke. He needs to adopt the Tuporia stance. And if he thinks Gaei is not going to go
for this, he just needs to accuse him of loading his gloves. Just be like, yeah, I'm fighting
them TMZ show outside his gym. He's like, yeah, it's on. I need to correct this with
Armin. Um, Gable Stevens is probably the biggest story coming out of it. And Sean Scharav,
all of the, the, the things that happened.
those brief 12 seconds and in the aftermath.
Rick had to go and eat crow yesterday and boys in the back.
I did, of course, tune in just to watch him, you know, going through the various
tastes.
He's got a taste for crow because he's constantly eating that.
It's true.
Sorry.
Joe, the best one was when he did the beat with you and Sheehan al-Shaddy.
And him and Sheehan just had this argument for the last 15 minutes of the show about
cable.
I was eating popcorn.
I didn't say a word for like 30 minutes.
And Sheehan the whole time was like, MMA is a different sport and wrestling.
Gricks like, fuck it.
could beat everyone apart from
Esmond right now.
And the six months time,
who knows?
It's absolutely amazing stuff.
It was the smugness.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
But right, like, we've shot,
like he's shown a massive, massive, um,
weakness in, in that week.
Like, his reaction to, first of all, the press conference,
his reaction to the fight to leave.
He's put out a statement kind of explaining, yeah,
vehemently denying these 2019 allegations.
Um, but I,
I can't see past everything that happened in that week.
And I can't see past the fact that an 0-and-2 guy in the UFC did that,
despite how Grayshare story has been.
And he really played a massive part in this whole thing.
Chuck, when you're sizing your interest, the potential of Gable,
how much has that impacted it?
Like, of course, he's an Olympic gold medal.
Of course, that's the best base for MMA.
But everything that transpired has me kind of thinking,
I don't know if this guy can fight at a really high level,
considering how easy he was,
got to, I suppose.
There's also just like a track record a little bit of,
and I know we've talked about this stuff,
but like just a track record of maybe him
dipping his toe in things and then not falling through,
like not getting, you know what I mean?
Like he doesn't get accepted until he's NFL,
um, WWE, all these things.
So there's a, there's a part of me that,
and it's tough too because this is a guy that is kind of walking,
you know, there's a red carpet unfurling before him
as he comes into the UFC because he has all these credentials,
you know, his Olympic wrestlers,
all the, you know, the collegiate stuff.
And you're thinking, and he's basically, his whole attitude going in was just like,
this guy's only here because of me.
And it's just, it's kind of counter to hunger, like the hunger of young guys coming up, right?
Like, it's the counter.
So my big question for him is, like, you go through this.
And we did talk about this last Friday.
We did talk about like, you know, this is a little scary.
There's a little bit of a red flag aspect to this.
But to come from where he's coming from and have the week he had,
where there's just like, you know, this kind of.
of this humiliating tone of what happened in the press conference,
him dealing with some old baggage that's going to follow him now,
it becomes part of the story,
but then to go out there and get knocked out,
I don't know if he,
my thing now is like,
if you're,
if you have it in you to be like really resilient,
you know,
and come back,
this would be the moment because I just don't,
I don't remember somebody having a step out.
Like,
like you can think guys like a Peyton Talbot or something, right?
Like who kind of have a buzz,
they look good.
They get beat.
Okay.
He,
through the process of correcting it.
I mean, he really did that.
And he comes back, he had to fix his mind on, like, how to go about this.
And I think the way he did it was saying, like, you know, if we'd fought with Barcellus,
like, if we'd fought, you know, forever, I would have, he would have killed me.
Like, that's how it would have ended.
He would have just killed me at some point, you know?
And this was what spoke to him to get him motivated.
I don't know what Gable.
Like, when you, when you come decorated like this and you kind of lose in such a way,
and you've shown, I guess, that you're not too close.
because even that Alicia Ellison fight,
he was walking into the,
he was pretty uncautious going in there and swinging.
It's going to be tough to come back from, dude.
Like, I feel like it's going to have to be,
like he's going to have to live up to his reputation
in terms of all of his competitiveness to really come back from.
That's what he's vowing to do.
But dude, it's,
it's going to be tough because that was a lot to process, you know?
Yeah.
Well, and the other thing, too, is that right now,
and people were, I think, acting and responding to this in part,
was that the perception is,
is the UFC wants him to be successful.
The UFC has selected this guy and said,
this is a blue chip prospect.
We want to see this guy win and go up the ranks.
And so we're going to make that path as carefully curated for him as we can,
which they don't do normally.
Normally the UFC does a pretty good jobs of matching up to guys who are pretty even
in terms of experience and ability from what we've seen and letting the chips fall where they may.
And then the winner moves on, the loser falls back.
And here was one where the UFC, they got their hands on this guy pretty early in his career and they go, let's find some people he can beat.
And when they're criticized, you know, whenever there's criticism about the matchmaking, they go, well, hey, he's only a few fights into his career.
What else do you want?
But then also you're going to turn around and tell us this guy is the next big thing at heavyweight.
But he's just not there yet.
So, hey, let's go get a guy who's owed to in the UFC who has shown us nothing to think that he is going to be the guy.
We'll have Gable Stevens and fight him.
It's not because they were trying to be in the Sean Sheriff business.
We all knew that the moment they announced that fight is that was a fight they made so that Gable
Steven could win and could look good doing it.
And Sean Sherriff did not play his part.
No.
He showed up and said, I am not the supporting character.
I'm the main character.
He called him out to his face over the 2019 arrest for sexual assault.
He took it right to him.
Gable Steven did not have an answer for that or like a good response to that.
It was very, like, awkward in a way that was very off-putting to fans and you felt them turn on him during that week.
Like, that's the part.
Like, we're all kind of responding to the knockout part.
Remember, he got booed when he walked out.
Yeah.
They had already turned on this guy.
And some of that is definitely the sexual assault stuff.
Some of it is that perception.
The UFC is just trying to give you fights you can win, man.
They don't do that for other people.
They're doing it for you.
And then when you go out there and you get knocked out for that guy where everybody had to respect the balls on this guy to go into a fight where you're such a huge.
underdog, it seems like this dude is already going to beat the hell out of you and you just went out there and gave him more of a reason to want to really be mean about it when he beats the hell out of you to step out like that and then to capitalize on it by winning by the knockout, people were blown away by it.
And so that is really what's hard to come back from, I think, is that people sort of made up their mind.
And now you have to find a way to change their minds and it's not going to come easy.
It's not going to come quick because what do the UFC do?
who are they going to give him next?
If they give you another guy that they selected for you to beat,
people are just going to be like, oh, here we go.
It's like another CM Punk situation where we held a contest basically to find someone
you could beat.
You couldn't beat that guy.
So like, let's go and get the other guy from the contest and from the guy.
You still couldn't beat that guy, you know?
So that I think.
That's way of also.
We know his next fight.
See, that is like that there's a certain kind of idea in that.
If you do that one, I'll go.
well, all right.
Like, at least then you're kind of in that territory where you're,
you're in a little bit of let the chips fall where they made territory at that point.
But you know, you're right in terms of like they have to try and do, like,
they're trying to promote this guy.
They have to try and do something with him.
He's tried to do something.
He's put out this statement.
And we,
we spoke about it on Wednesday show.
The lad spoke about it yesterday.
I know you guys have seen it.
He's basically vehemently denying everything that happened in 2019.
And he's kind of talking about what happened on Fight Week.
Does that do anything to win people back,
Ben?
Because the reaction I've seen to it is not quite there.
No, it's a little late for that.
And it also, you know what I thought of?
Remember when John Jones, I think it was when he,
uh, when he got popped in the drug test before UFC 200 and got pulled out of that one.
And they had a response like from the John Jones team,
some quotes that are going around.
And it was from some person who was part of it.
of a crisis management.
Yes.
That's right.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
Which immediately tells everybody, you think you're in crisis.
You think this is a crisis right now.
And you think it's such a crisis, you went and got somebody to manage that crisis for you.
So you're telling us.
She wasn't nice, by the way, this crisis person.
I remember talking to her.
She was not very nice to me.
It's cruel.
Like, it just sends the message that you're panicking a little bit.
You, you're responding to this because you think we've got to.
Yeah.
We're in a tough.
And that was what I thought about it.
Because when I read that statement, for one thing, the statement is very different in tone than what his response was when he was accused of it to his face at the press conference.
The guy was calling him loophole and he was trying to smile and be like, yeah, it's a good name, right?
He should not like that name.
He should not like that nickname at all.
That just had no idea what to do.
Yeah, he did not have any idea what to do, which I feel like if you were accused of sexual assault and you know,
you did absolutely nothing wrong as he's saying in this statement and somebody out of press conference
were to say that you'd turn to him and you'd be like hey that's absolute bullshit I didn't do anything
you don't know what the hell you're talking about you like you would put a stop to it right away
you would push back hard on him just kind of like trying to like hey maybe if I laugh it off
they'll let it go and no they're not going to let it go and this the response during fight week
after the fight it seemed like it made the them as a team kind of get together and be like
we got to say something do you think john jones was like here you can up
You can just borrow my template.
Just borrow my template.
Here's a here.
I know a few words as management.
We were kind of comparing the situation to that of Connor McGregors, who was found
civilly liable for the sexual assault of Nikita Han.
She had claimed that she was raped by the MMA star in a Dublin hotel in 2018.
The jury found in her favor.
Nikita Hand is back in the news this week because she is releasing a book,
not the perfect victim.
and she has appeared across mostly Irish publications.
Of course, she was on Sky News as well.
She did a big interview here on Wednesday night
was going on pretty much in the last hour
of the Ariel Hohani show.
We talked about it briefly,
but I hadn't seen it at that point.
She gave about a 25 minute interview on primetime,
RT's prime time,
which is like the Irish equivalent of like a 60 minutes, I guess.
She spoke a lot about, you know,
the court case, the night itself,
the aftermath. And she also spoke about
watching McGregor being platformed by the UFC
on Jimmy Kimmel, etc. She said the following,
it's very hard to know that he was given such a high platform still
to this day for such a vicious attack that he did on me.
It's very hard to see or hear about it. For me to get away
from that, I need to completely switch off. I need to not go on social
media because it's there in my face. I need to not go into a
local shop because it's in the newspaper. Unfortunately, he is a
famous person and there's no way for me
get away from that. We spoke about
the different kind of reaction to
McGregor, his return to MMA in July,
as opposed to that of Gable,
who was, as Ben said earlier, he was
roundly booed even before any of
this stuff was said by Sheriff at the press conference.
That still is strange to me, right?
Like, that's one thing I've still been thinking about it, is like, how
different this reaction was. I was speaking
the GC and Rick about it on Monday, and they
were kind of saying, well,
McGregor had built up such goodwill
in the MMA space as this
massive superstar, having won two world titles,
having put on these spectacular shows,
and continuing to be in, you know,
10 years after his pomp, the biggest star on their books,
do you think there's something to do with that, Chuck?
The fact that, like, you know,
MMA fans had so many glory days
with McGregor, as opposed to Gable,
so they're not quite willing to jump on that kind of train just yet.
Well, everybody thinks they knew,
they knew Connor McGregor, right?
They came up with him.
They felt like they knew him.
They were going to be protective of him.
It was reminiscent a little bit, and obviously this isn't the same type of thing.
But if you're, if you guys, in 1994 when OJ Simpson was first accused, there was a lot of just like, no, man, no way.
He was still a naked going on and stuff, right?
I know, that's what I'm saying.
Everything we knew about it was like that is.
Yeah, exactly.
He's running over the lunches and stuff.
Like, it's like everybody who ever paid any attention to OJ.
I was like, no way.
There's, that cannot be the case.
And I feel like there is a little bit of that in the Conner McGregor.
And even though.
It's not like this is an isolated.
We've seen this guy in so many weird situations that, you know,
it's not like he had this pristine character that you're like,
this is so far afield from the, from the guy he is.
I mean, we've seen him in very weird situations in trouble with the law.
So it was only strange to me.
I think that they're dead on right.
Like that it's because he'd built up this kind of, you know,
this thing in MMA that you're going to protect him.
And it's come,
that's how we knew him before these things happened.
And whereas Gables coming into a situation, this is one of the first things that you latch on to.
It's kind of a thing that precedes him.
And that's a very different psychological setup to deal with.
But the other part of it, and I know Shaheen mentioned this when we were talking on the beat,
is that, you know, Max Holloway did not go up there and pull the Sean Sheriff, right?
Like, he didn't go up there and just start saying like, hey, man, you know, this guy's raping people or whatever.
He didn't throw the R word out there.
He didn't say anything like that.
If he had, that would have been very interesting.
because a lot of what Ben was just mentioning was his response.
It was, you know, the kind of response or lack of response from Gable that, you know,
it kicks it in when you see, like, when something's brought up, it's like seeing and all of a sudden,
okay, now there's this visceral thing going on and you're like, okay, how does he respond to this?
And you get it like a kind of frivolous or like shrug it off response.
That's a bad look, but we didn't get that with Connor.
He wasn't really, that wasn't really brought up.
The times it was brought up to him, you know, it was more like this.
deflection to like God and
he's always maintained his innocence
he's changed he's always maintained his innocence but you know
but he kind of he moves it off in a very as graceful as he could
you know change this change the subject type thing but yes
he has maintained his innocence but it it's it's been it was
interesting but I do think that what they pointed out would
what Eric and Connor were pointing out is basically true
you know what I mean like we'd seen we'd seen too much of Connor at that point
well yeah it's kind of like uh you know I was
kid and grew up with Hulk Hogan being such a huge thing.
And, you know, you're watching Hulk Hogan.
He's such a huge superstar.
And then years later as an adult, you find out some things that make you think,
okay, maybe Hulk Hogan was not entirely worthy of the level of adoration.
That guy, I use a sunbatts?
When I was nine, 10 years old.
Yeah.
You know, and so it's like your, your memory can be revised to a certain point once
you learn new information, but it's not.
going to be completely changed. Some of that old stuff, one of those old feelings that you
first developed are still going to be there. Whereas for Gable Seusson, he comes as this like
already sort of damaged goods. And, and I also think that when you see him dealing in response
to this, he's not exactly winning people over personality wise. No. There's a weird, there's a
little bit of a vacancy. Yes. Going on there. There were people who like kind of look at them and
are just like, I don't know what is there.
There's something missing behind the eyes here.
There's some kind of.
It's true.
With Connor McGregor, it's like part of his rise was this charisma, this like very easy,
natural charisma that he had.
And Gable does not appear to have that.
What he has is like he seems like an athletic clay ready to be molded in MMA in a division
where you could most easily just show up and take over if you were just a little bit good.
And personality-wise, it doesn't seem like he has that same juice, you know?
No, it doesn't.
That's really well said.
I agree with that 100%.
I hadn't really registered the vacancy until Ben was talking about it.
I said, picture and cable's like, that's pretty accurate too.
Well, if Gable is dead behind the eyes, it's not the only death we might be seeing in MMA because apparently oblique kicks, Andy.
sorry, Ben, on their way out. Andy Foster does not want oblique kicks. One of the great
weapons of John Jones, I would say. I can remember when he, they had been around, but when
he started hitting them, I was going, oh shit, I have not seen a man disable a dude's
knees like this immediately in a fight. I think Ian Gary is probably the best modern proponent
of them. He uses them brilliantly in his fights. Yeah, what did you have to say about this, Ben,
on this week's mailback.
Well, yeah, I mean, I understand the case that people are making.
I understand like the visceral response they have.
When you look at somebody doing that, kicking somebody straight on on the kneecap as they're
advancing, there is a part of you that goes, that's gross.
That's a little unseemly to be doing that.
It feels like you're just trying to injure the guy.
You're trying to hurt him.
Guess what, though?
This is a hurt business.
This is a hurting game.
That's the entire thing that we're doing.
And so I think we need to have a good reason when we talk.
about outlawing a move like that.
You know, you're right.
Like John Jones is used in Gair's you.
If you read the Tao of Jek Kundo, if you were an impressionable teenager learning the martial arts,
you will see Bruce Lee advocated the use of this kick, what he would refer to as the stop kick?
Because it's, there's a reason it works.
It gives the guy something to worry about if he wants to come forward and attack you.
And if you kick him straight on on the kneecap, there's a, there's an immediate reflex that
you have where you go, oh no, that'll be really.
bad for my knees. I could very easily, my knee will get bent back the wrong way. It will hurt a lot.
It might injure me. And so therefore, it stops me in my aggression. I don't want to come forward
into that. That makes it like a legitimate move. And there's a good use for that if you can work it
into your arsenal. And so if we're going to ban it, I think we need to at least have the
conversation among ourselves of why and be able to justify that logic. Because right now we're kind
I go on, no, I don't like it.
Could injure people,
well, everything we do in this punch of the face.
Exactly.
We're kicking people in the head.
We're breaking each other's arms with submissions.
You can make the argument and people have that because you go, hey,
if we're so worried about shredding people's knee ligaments,
are we going to outlaw heel hooks next?
Are we going to outlaw knee bars?
And you go, well, at least there, in theory, there's an opportunity for you to realize,
oh, should I'm in trouble.
I'm locked in the submission.
I can't get out.
You can.
again, in theory, tap before the damage is done.
Now, some people are going to throw it on you so fast, you're not going to have a chance.
And other people are not going to let go right away when they should have like Usamar Paul Harris.
And you are going to get injured anyway.
But I don't know if it's enough to just say, hey, we don't like this because it could injure people's knees.
We would prefer to injure every other part of their body in the service of this.
And I also would wonder.
It just seems blatant, I guess, you know, because they're trying to injure.
you're trying to pick guys.
And it is.
It is.
Like, that's what I'm trying to do.
I'm trying to hurt you and render you incapable of continuing this fight.
That's also what I'm trying to do with an arm bar is I'm trying to hurt you bad enough and
injure you in a way that makes it so that you cannot continue this fight.
I'm trying to win a big sack of money that way.
And the thing is, what would the text of the rule look like?
Because if we're going to say you can do all these other kicks, you can kick every other part
of the leg, you cannot kick, what, straight?
rate on into the person's kneecap?
Can I, a chump?
Yeah, can I, can I, can I, can I stop down?
Can I kick up in their kneecap?
If I'm laying on my back and there and I'm trying to keep them at a distance before I get
up, can I kick out their kneecap?
If I hit just above the kneecap, is that okay?
If I hit just below, if I kick their kneecap to the side, that's okay, right?
Like, we're going to get ourselves into another 12 to six elbow situation.
Exactly.
It's a good show.
And that was a pain in the ass.
This would also be a pain in the ass.
And, and I like how both of these things.
are like things that John Jones gets in trouble for like it was talked about us and he got out just in
time yeah you know like yeah yeah but i mean i understand why people are mad but i also think let's be
real with ourselves let's talk about what we're really doing here i do feel like this is a long
festering thing for dana white i'm trying to remember if it was the quentin jacks or maybe rachad
evans one of those fights those early ones um when he was doing those oblique kicks kind of again
and again and i remember dana at the time this was like a long time ago now over a decade ago
just basically being like he didn't like the oblique kicks, you know?
He was like apparently they're allowed or something, wasn't he?
He was like, yeah, apparently it's not illegal.
But he was upset.
And so this is a long simmering thing.
I just, and with Ben, I just don't know how you can monitor it like and make,
because there's so much gray area now that you're going to deal in.
There's already too much gray area in MMA to begin with.
You add stuff like this and it gets super complicated.
I think that, and most people don't really use them.
I don't know if it's more of a gentleman's agreement.
Like, hey, let's not do that tactic.
I think it is, honestly, I think it is.
Because, but I mean, honestly, aren't you surprised you don't see it more?
Like, the guys you're talking about, they're the only examine.
And you see it occasionally.
You'll see guys like, especially the side, they just kind of go to the side and, uh,
and throw the sidekick directly into the kneecap.
Um, you'll see it, but it's not that often.
Like, you think you would see if it was devastating and it really was effective, you'd see it a lot more.
Well, that's the other part of it too, right?
Is because we're sitting here saying like, this could injure people in a career ending or
career altering way.
And it's like, yeah, it could.
could, but we're not seeing that a whole lot.
It's not like this is a scourge going around where like, oh, God, another event ruined by
the oblique kick where we don't feel like we got a real result and this guy may never
fighting.
I poaks.
We see exactly that with eye pox.
We see guys entire careers altered or perhaps ended completely disappointing ending to big
fights.
We've seen it over and over and over again.
We're not that concerned with doing more on that, apparently.
Like when the UFC redesign, they're glad.
They didn't even think about trying to limit the high pokes.
So like that seems like something we should be concerned about.
The knee thing seems like we're going, this seems like something that could happen.
But it's not happening enough or toned where I think we need to do stuff.
There's also stuff.
The other thing John Jones would do, remember he did it, I think to Glover and their fight was he'd get into the clinch against the fence.
And he had kind of an overhook sort of like modified whizzer on their arm.
And then he would wrench it so hard and so quickly that, that,
Like, yeah, and it was nasty.
I remember that.
And you could tell that it was definitely affecting glow.
I think it was a good exited about, Benhoven, St.
Peru, something like that where you see that and you're kind of like, my brain is always split on those where I go, one part of me goes, I didn't know that was legal.
That's awesome.
Maybe it shouldn't be.
But the other part is like, that's kind of why he's a martial arts genius for figuring out in these moments.
There's something.
Every single thing we're talking about, he's done.
The 12 to six elbows.
crafty guy,
he does all of it.
But it's like,
it draws the same reaction
that overhooked a wizard thing,
that draws the same reaction
as the first time you see the obliq kick.
You're like,
what the fuck is that?
You know,
like what?
Yeah,
you're just like,
that dude is nasty.
That dude is willing to do
whatever it is to beat you in a fight.
But hey,
if you want the Mozart of fighting,
he's going to break outside the bounds.
He's going to invent new ways to do this.
He's going to change.
It's more in the imagination,
though,
seriously,
because it's like,
if a guy came,
in a guy's leg.
Like, comes in,
boom,
just caves in his leg,
it goes the other way.
Then you have the visual.
But has it happened?
I just, I mean,
you understand it would tell you.
He did it to shop got out.
It happened in Roadhouse.
Patrick Swayze,
definitely did it to a dude in Roadhouse.
This is probably where it is.
He also ripped the guy's throat
straight out though with his bear.
Well,
that is illegal,
technically illegal in the minimum wage.
That was a documentary.
Yeah,
Ian would have you believe he did it at the Shavkat though, right?
Like,
he cannot stop bringing up how he injured that man's name.
Well,
the rest of the world is more.
is mourning the loss of this boogie man.
He's like, I did that.
You're like, okay, boy.
That was me, baby.
Everybody else is sad.
You see him just like emaciated and atrophied at the physical therapist office
and Ian Gary is just like, just so you guys know?
That was me.
It was me.
Stock him around.
I'm the baddest motherfucker.
Right.
We better take a look at, look ahead to this weekend.
It is Till v. Romero, and I saw this.
I saw this on Ben's Instagram feed.
And I had just been.
talking about it beforehand.
The greatest story ever told about Yol Romero
was in fact when he was
the victim of someone trying to murder him.
Ben, take it away from here. Can you explain?
You asked him this question. You had wanted to ask him
the question for a long time, but explain what the question is about.
Yeah. I've been fascinated with this story since I first saw. I read it
in an MMA mania article, I think last year, but it was from a case that was in
2022 where allegedly, I'm going to say that at the
of everything. Here that follows. Allegedly, uh,
Yule Romero and a guy, uh, who was a BKFC fighter at the time, they got an argument at
the gym. The argument continued outside the gym and this guy supposedly first got in his car and
tried to hit Yuel as he was pulling off and he all got out of the way. Then he stopped the car,
allegedly, opened the trunk, pulled out a samurai sword, which right there, you're dealing with
certain kind of people who drive around with a samurai sword.
in the trunk of their car.
Didn't have to go home and get it.
You know, didn't go to the store.
It was in the trunk of the car, pulled out the samurai sword and came swinging it at UL.
and I don't know if Yel, like, lifted his arm up to block it, but hit him in the arm
and injured, like damaged some of the tendons in his arm.
And this guy gets arrested, charged with attempted murder against U.L.
U.S. refuses to testify against this guy, but shows up for every day of the trial and sits there
watching the trial.
of this guy charged with attempting to murder him.
But since UL doesn't testify, the guy is acquitted.
The jury acquits him and he walks free.
And I was always like, Uel's such an intense guy.
Terrifying.
Remember that ESPN interview that he did where he was telling the guy how you have to believe in.
Yeah.
And that is like a positive, like encouraging message.
And it's still scary because it's UL and this intensity that he has.
And so I was just like, I got a no man.
Take some.
Why?
Why did you refuse to testify, but still showed up and sat there watching?
If you always sitting there staring at you, you'd be like, please let them convict me.
I'm safer on the- I did it.
I did it.
When my feet hit the pavement, I'm in danger with this guy.
He's right here to see it.
He's going to know the moment I'm exonerated.
And so I just wanted to know what happened there and why did you not testify but also show up.
And he said, first of all, though,
he seemed most concerned about that he wanted to make sure people understood was he was like,
I didn't call the police.
Just make that clear.
Which, yeah, and that is something I think everybody should for their own health and safety,
no going forward is that if you get into a beef with U.L. Romero, he would, he does not call
911.
He does not rely on the police to settle that beef.
He will settle it with you man to man.
So that is something you need to know.
But he was like, the father of a young student at the gym.
he called the police,
which you can imagine what the father and that young student,
the conversation they had on the ride homes.
Like,
this is what I'm paying for with the lessons.
You guys swinging the samurai swords?
You're not going back there.
Dad, can I block samurai swords at my firearms?
The police came and you well said,
they asked him who did it.
And he said, I don't know the guy.
And, you know, they didn't buy that.
They still like, but I was like,
Why did you go, you weren't going to testify?
Why did you go sit in court every day?
And he said, because I believe in forgiveness.
You well, as a very outspoken Christian man.
He said, God forgave the people who killed his only son.
I hope God forgives me.
I believe in forgiving other people.
And I was just like, you know, I don't doubt that he meant that and that that was
sincere, but also imagine being the guy on trial for attempted murder on U.
O. Romero, you look over your shoulder.
You see him sitting out there.
the first thought that pops into your mind is he's not here because he forgives me.
Why did he have to go every day to show this forgiveness is my like, you know, what the hell?
Offering his support.
Maybe they'd buried the hatchet by then.
I had never even heard that.
I hadn't heard the, about the, uh, so that mania article or whatever, I don't remember hearing about any of that stuff.
So when I was reading this, I was fascinated on every level.
I was like, what?
When did this happen?
Could you ask?
It's crazy.
Well, and see, that's why it got me thinking about it, especially because I read your article
talk about Darren Till's like explaining.
Oh, yeah.
Here's why I felt the need to stare at him for like four minutes.
Of course.
In that BKFC presser, here's why I didn't feel like I could look away.
And it was because he said at one point in your story where he was like, look,
Yuel is a scary guy.
We all acknowledge that.
We all know Yuel is a scary guy.
I needed to stand there and stare right back at him to let him know I'm not scared
at him.
And the fact that he had that in his head where he was like, I can't look away
because everyone's going to think I'm scared.
and obviously who wouldn't be scared of this individual,
but I need to show him that I'm not scared.
And when I asked you out,
I was kind of like, are you aware of this effect that you have on people?
And he kind of was like, yeah, I guess so,
but I'm not trying to scare you.
Like, if you're scared of me, then that's your problem.
I'm terrified of them all the time, all the time.
Dude, the funniest thing about that stare off, though, is like David Feldman.
Yeah.
He's so uncomfortable, man, the whole time.
So, like, it's not even, even if Till is not scared,
Tillman is like basically like dude we need to stop guys please turn around
and he's like begging them to just look at the camera so far he tries so many times
I know because he also seems like he realizes this can't go on forever we eventually we do
have to move on to other business but I'll tell you what all that stuff made me so that
okay those guys going to get into a bare knuckle boxing match in Manchester or whatever like
yeah I want to see that I want to see it so much more than the UFC card this weekend I know
Ben you're an MMA going you're going to keep telling us this right you're
going to be like, I, this card is ass.
Everybody knows that.
Who, who I saw the boys going through it.
I see the boys in the back going through these cards.
And I'm just like, man, I don't know who some of these people are.
They fought the USC three times.
Like, what happened?
What happened?
I used to know every fucking dude.
I used to know what Jimmy was coming out of, what age he was.
I don't know who to fuck most of these people are anymore.
I'm going to be completely honest.
A couple of them don't have pictures.
Look at that.
You see, don't even know what they look like.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Norma Dumont, though.
I mean, I feel kind of like a need to be there for that, but I'm going to miss this one, you know?
I saw a story this week of Norman Dumont talking about this beef between them and how part of it erupted in the women's room of the UFC Performance Institute, where she said she was in the women's room and Alam Perez came in there with some of her friends.
And the way she described.
it made the UFC
PI sound like a kind of
a rough middle school
because it's just like
I love it.
Yeah, mean girls are going to roll up on you
while you're in the bathroom and she was like,
she came in with her friends and her friends were
being like, she's going to beat your ass, you know.
And she was just like, fine, let's do it.
Let's go ahead and let's do it.
And then she was like, my friends came in
and trying to stop me from getting into it.
And it's like you can imagine them like both their
friends are involved and everything.
And she's just like, she's going to beat your ass.
And she's like, let's go.
And then my friends are basically being like,
No, come on, you're going to get in trouble.
Like, you're going to get suspended.
You won't be able to go to homecoming, you know, like, and so then we, and then her
complaint was she's not selling this fight.
We should be telling this story about how we almost threw down in the bathroom at the
PI.
That's, we should be hyping these fights up.
And you're just realizing, so the UFC Performance Institute is a place where people might run
up on you in the bathroom and try to fight you.
Um, Paulo Costa might steal your lunch or whatever.
That's true.
The whole thing just sounds like a rough middle school, man.
Are there people smoking cigarettes out back?
That's me.
You know?
You're on there.
Sean Strickland's in the parking lot on his dirt bike or something, you know,
revving it up.
Yeah, I mean, that's made me probably 200% more excited for this character than I was.
I was gonna say, I'm sold.
I'm sold on that one now.
But yeah, I mean, PKFC for me is, is the foyer the weekend.
There's Zufo boxing on as well.
Misfits boxing.
Did you see that?
Who's going on that one?
Did you see that fucking press comments?
Well, Tony Ferguson stood up.
and was like, this is so fucking ridiculous.
Actually, I'm ashamed of myself for me.
Yeah, but see, that's on Tony.
Yeah, because I understand what he's saying.
But brother, if, you know, if you got a problem with clowns,
don't buy a ticket to the circus.
Good old shit fits.
You know, if you, if you don't like to see, like,
horses and cows running around, why'd you go to the rodeo?
Like, where do you think you are, bro?
You're at misfits boxing.
It's kind of in the name.
This is their whole thing.
and you're going to be like,
this is unseemly,
you guys,
where's your dignity?
They don't have any.
That's what he said,
he literally hit the like,
this is a sacred place,
guys.
He is there on that shit.
It is not.
Tony,
Tony Ferguson.
Yeah,
El Cuckooey.
So it was kind of like a Jerry Springer shit
was going off around him.
One of the guys brought out
his opponent's lover
and was like,
she's with me now.
And the woman jumped up
and straddled them
and they started making out
then people are like,
and Tony was like,
I had to remove my kids from this place because all this shit is going down.
Shouldn't have brought your kids, man.
I've got to go watch now.
You know what?
If you brought your kids to Hooters and you felt like maybe they were exposed to some things that you didn't want to expose to, it's on you for bringing them.
Do you?
It's in the name, bro.
Do you, do you, like, is Hooters an actual family restaurant?
I remember someone trying to explain this to me as I was in Hooters once.
And I saw a family sitting there and I was like, this is weird.
All right?
This is weird.
fuck, you know. This is a little boy. I mean, he doesn't know what's on the menu. He can't see
anything else. He's just following these women around the place. I mean, it's not something
and it's not like the food is good. It's not like terrible. We're putting up with the ambiance
to get the cuisine. He used to stay in the Hooters Hotel. Yeah, I was going to ask this.
Oh, I said. Every McGregor. I did too. I did too. It was the cheapest place. It was cheap as hell,
dude. It was like $19 a night. It was like 20 bucks a night. People are ripping points. Do you just
smell weird as soon as you walk?
get out of your elevator and she was like,
seeing you through to smoke to get to your door.
I kind of miss that.
Yeah, it was beautiful.
It was the best of times now to think about it.
I do believe, though, that they had a Dan Marino's steakhouse inside the Hooters restaurant.
And so I remember getting a text from one of my MMA media colleagues at some point.
And it's like, we're in Dan Marino's steakhouse inside the Hooters.
And you're like, this is a text you could only get in Las Vegas.
These words don't go together any other place.
I'm jealous.
I never got to Don Marinos.
I was just eating those.
chicken wings all the time.
Like you didn't miss much.
You didn't miss much.
Hang on.
Am I getting blown up by something here?
Oh.
Norma Dumont, here we go.
You ready?
This is from Rick.
This is a tweet he just sent me.
Norma Dumont threw condoms and money at Alien Perez during the face off.
Can you believe that?
Condoms and money.
Did she explain it?
Did she explain what the education is there?
I assume it goes back to the story in the bathroom.
Yeah.
I need to get to the bottom of this.
This is a real calf weight.
This is, okay, maybe, okay, I was straight of PKFC coming into this conversation.
Norma Dumont has taken me to a new level of intrigue here.
Who did she beat at the sphere?
It was, uh, Aspen Ladd.
Aldana, wasn't it?
It was Aldana.
Oh, sorry, Aspen Ladd was.
Remember the shape she left her in here?
Like, she was cut up.
She's a bad, man.
So you get, you get a motivated Norma Dumont.
I mean, that's, you could see some, we could see something bad there.
Condoms and money.
Yeah.
Mean.
here's some condons and you're also going to need this money.
You say condoms?
Yeah, is this an Irish pronunciation?
Condoms, yeah.
We could go hide the dons, yeah.
I wonder, we call them Johnny's here.
Yeah.
Okay.
What, just can nothing just be simple with you guys?
It's always got to be some huge things, right?
You call them rubbers, right?
You use rubbers.
Well, your dad would call them rubbers.
That's what they call them like them in your wallet.
When you're going to Hooters.
Oh, my God.
You're not going to need it, brother.
I'll tell you that.
Oh, I remember, I'm not going to name the journalist.
Please do.
I would, but put it in the chat.
This journalist, like, I can remember, he used to always be like, come and meet me in Hooters.
And I'll be like, we're staying in Hooters.
This sounds a lot like Chuck Mindenhomper, you talk, please.
He'd be like, I was like, can we go anywhere else?
There's a great, remember Coco's was just down the way, the cafe?
I mean, the deli or whatever was.
That was great.
Diner, the poor man's Denny's.
That was talking about.
But it was right down the way and I've eaten there a bunch.
It was fantastic.
Talk shit on it.
It was fantastic.
Um, he'd be like, come and have the fucking whatever they're having in here.
And I'd be like, why is that?
He always fucking eating here.
And then I found out he was in love with one of the waitresses there.
And he thought that because she put a love heart on his receipt, that she wasn't
fat, he's up, and he told us.
It's good that you're protecting this name.
Yeah.
I mean, he told us after eight beers like one night, like that he thinks.
And we're like, mate.
Dude, she put a heart on my check.
I mean, she does it every time.
Not just, not just once joke.
She did it every single time.
So then I go over to the senior citizen table next to you and they bet you there's also a heart on that check.
That's what I did.
I ordered some food just to make the point.
And she love hearted me and it was like I just had made out with the girl in front from him.
He saw my love heart on the receipt.
My God, man.
Heartbreaking.
You basically did the thing from Miss Viss Boxing Press conference.
She said she's with me now.
she was not with me
but he was like
yeah no that was really weird
I'm gonna stop talking
in case I get this guy in trouble
but anyway
put it in the chat I need to know
who the hell this is
I have some guesses
I'm gonna send it
I just don't I don't know
maybe well who knew
Norma DeMont swooped in
and has made me more interest
on her fight than I am in Darren Till
V O L and Merrill
is it right last last question on this
Chuck is it actually impossible
to live up to the high
of what we think Yoel Romero and Darren Till is going to be,
considering how things have gone through.
I don't know.
I feel like they will.
I feel like they will somehow live up to the hype.
Like this is, it's a, it's bizarre.
It's a bizarre setup.
The dude's almost 50, you know?
It's like, what is he?
Like, in six weeks or something, he turns 50 years old then?
Like, you just talked about this.
Like, it's crazy.
And Darren Till, obviously, you know, kind of ending up in this,
uh, dystopian, bernal thing.
And he seems to be embracing it.
It should be fun.
I think it delivers.
Soldier of rod.
Yeah.
He also, you know, the most shocking thing about the interview was, you know, the clean drug test.
So I'm not going to like to.
He lifted up a clean blood and piss test and then showed us that dick root.
And I was going, well, I didn't know that you could be built like that and not be on, you know.
Well, I mean, he's always been built like that.
Remembering it's amazing?
Fibers or something that are like they're five times as big as any other humans.
Like, what the fuck?
I also asked him about this where I was just like, hey, look, level with me.
I'm a fellow gentleman of a certain age.
I'm like, uh, three, four years, then, then you will.
How do you, how do you, how do you, how do you, how do you, how do you, how do you, and he was just like, discipline.
You take off his glasses.
It's basically, he was just like, it's just that, that how I've say.
And I was just like, well, okay, I mean, that does explain it.
I don't, by my gym routine and particularly my diet are not quite as disciplined as you all Romero's.
And I'm not let you guys in a little secret, a little prediction for the future.
They're not going to become so.
No.
In the next few years, as I near 50.
I actually saw, Ben, you shared an image this morning of a big red mark on your neck.
And you said it was from a slap shot.
Explain that to our non-American listeners, please.
Took a puck to the neck.
And last night's beer league hockey game.
I guess we're in the ad hoc, hilarious phantor section.
Yeah, that's right.
Here's the thing about it.
I had never even thought to.
worry about getting hit in the neck by a flying puck while I'm out there playing hockey.
You feel pretty protected.
You got gear all over, you know, like you feel like I'm indestructible.
And then as soon as that happened, this guy was really, he was, defensemen on the other team.
He was hitting these clappers all night long, really hitting them hard.
And I didn't mean to get in the way.
I would like to tell people that I would heroically blocking shots out there, but I wasn't.
It just hit me.
And the thing that saved me was it hit like my collar kind of, like the edge.
of my chest protector and then ricocheted up and hit me in the neck and then went off still hurt still hurt a whole bunch at the time but as soon as it happened I was like you know what I kind of there's a new fear unlocked I had never considered the possibilities but I might get hit for hard right in the neck now I'm considering it definitely yeah that thing just popped right off me one of my teammates who saw it happen like I think kind of heard it happened because it hit me so damn hard and afterwards I got back to the bench it
he went you know we're losing five too right well and there's like three minutes left in the game
like now's not the time to be putting your body on the line for you know to block one shot we're not
going to win this game and i was just like yeah man i wish i could say i did that oh not with that
you think it'll have that effect where like fixes the trash neck like as suddenly like hey it's
it works it's fine it's good on the opposite side the trash neck is in like the vertebral section this is in
like the throat section maybe it balances things out
But, damn, man.
Hucky seems like a lot.
A lot of things can happen out there, you know?
It's that big disc of vulcanized rubber flying all over the place and at relatively high speeds.
It's the skates that get up to.
I'm like, ooh, when the skates go flying.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
My wife has expressed concern about that every once in a while and I have to tell her,
listen, none of us are sharpening our skates often enough for that to be.
The NHL, they're sharpening them at the end of every period.
Every period, they do.
Go around and ask my teammates once the last time you sharpen their skates and it'll just be like December 22, I guess.
What noise do you make when that happens?
When it gets catch you in the throat, I mean, it's a noise.
It's a 100%.
I played it cool.
I played it cool at the moment.
I did not let out, although earlier in the game, one of my teammates got hit in the back, like in the calf with a slap shot.
And he just went really loudly, ow.
I got a cartoon character.
It was hilarious.
It's fucking great.
I played it pretty cool in the moment, but I is also like,
it's one of those things where something happens and you can't see if it's bad or not,
but like inside I'm going like,
well, I've got to be internally bleeding.
I'm dead.
Is there blood gushing out of my neck right now?
But I'm playing it tough.
And then as soon as I got in the locker room, I got like my camera on the phone out so I could be like,
okay, look, how bad is it?
I'm like, ah, it's not that bad.
I would have dropped my knees like Charlie Jane and Platoon.
Oh.
Oh my God.
Well, fantastic stuff for it.
I think that was Willem Defoe, wasn't it?
Oh, shit, it was Willem Defoe, wasn't it?
Willem Defoe.
What a performance.
He's got a rod on him.
Have you ever seen Body of Evidence with Madonna?
Jesus Christ.
That guy is fluters.
Anyway, listen, that obviously means that we've reached the end of the show.
But dude, before we go, yes.
There it is.
Willem Defoe's rod cannot be the last thing.
Hark out here.
Pizzi, you've seen both men up close.
Who's more.
Don't do this.
Don't pee him.
There we need.
Listen,
both men have nothing to worry about
in that department.
I'll say that much, you know.
Well done, boys.
Congratulations.
Oh, it's the last one.
And here was me,
hoping we'd get away from the rods
before the end of the show.
But, alas, that is how we will leave the show this week.
Ben, I hope your neck heals.
You know, you two,
do you currently want to talk some shit
about the fancy football this week before we go?
Or will we leave that for the text group?
I mean, I think we open.
the show with some fantasy football talk.
I don't know how interested people get in other people's fantasy football leagues.
But you could, you know, we'll sort of see how things play out this week.
Andy, real quick, can we flash the, because we've been freezing the last couple weeks.
So I just wanted to see what photos we settled on here.
Can we see which ones?
Yeah.
Oh, okay, there we go.
See, this would have been a good week to freeze.
Look at that.
It's fucking silent.
Is that like a, are you wearing like an ask off there?
What is, what is that around you next?
it was like an ascot.
It was like a day drinking episode, if I recall.
And I was like, here, I need a photo.
And I just threw this stuff on.
This is a photo.
And took the photo.
I'd say that was a great day.
It was a joke.
It looks like a great.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What else we got there?
Right.
Well, that's it.
Okay.
Listen, guys, we love us very much.
Please enjoy the UFC card, which we now all have renewed interest in,
knowing what happened in the Apex bathroom.
But please also enjoy Darren Tilvey, Yoll Romero.
Please enjoy us next Friday.
we'll be back here on The Crack.
On Monday, the Ariel Hawani show will be back.
We love you very much.
Thank you for joining us.
See us next week.
Thanks for Andy.
Oh, that's loud.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Help.
