Starting point is 00:00:00 Well, hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of this show where myself, Ariel Hawani, and the incomparable Luciana Andrade, hailing from Curitiba, Brazil, are here to talk about all things life, advice, and God knows what else under the sun. In fact, I've actually been in Los Angeles where I'm told Luciana resides for the past week. And one would think, hey, we should have done this in person. But here I am in my very lonely and dark walled hotel room. And there she is in her usual spot. Feels like we kind of blew it here, Luciana, if I'm being honest. I know. I'll just blame you for not letting me know. Okay. It is all my fault.
Starting point is 00:01:04 What did you think was going to happen? I wasn't going to recognize the background? Well, I could have painted the bookcase. But no, I've been quite open about the fact that I've been in LA. So, I was sort of trying to like nudge, nudge, wink, wink, but message not sent, as they say in the text message world. Next time. next time. Well, I mean, honestly, what is it like being the darling of the YouTube world? I mean, everyone seems to like you way more than me on the channel. Your thoughts? I mean, I guess, how does it usually work
Starting point is 00:01:34 when you have guests on your show? Do they always like you better? I mean, if you had Laura Sinkover, did people like you better than Laura Sinkover because I find that hard to believe. I mean, mostly it's not usually women, if I'm being honest, and it's sometimes like crazy fighters.
Starting point is 00:01:54 So it's sometimes not the most likable characters, but I feel like you're a big baby face. Do you know what baby face means in the YouTube chat? Baby face is a pro wrestling term. That's a super good guy. A bad guy is a heel, a babyface. So like when the crowd loves you, you're a babyface. And I feel like in this particular world that we're residing in, you're a babyface also. They've all weighed in on the name of the program and everyone seems to think that the best name is the 10 and the 7.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Now, I personally think, just for the record, I think that's very disrespectful towards you. I don't think you're a 7, but I thought it was very nice that they would call me the 10. What are your thoughts on that name? Do you like that? No, I'm okay with being a 7. I've been a 7 my entire life. Okay. Very comfortable. Excuse me, in your own skin. Okay. Shall we get to the questions? We have a lot of good questions. I thought last week's show was the best one yet. This is only episode four. The microphone, huge difference.
Starting point is 00:02:53 And also you not reading the questions in advance. I think really. No, I'm not. Not. It didn't even peak, right? Yeah. No peaking? No peaking.
Starting point is 00:03:01 No peaking. No peaking, no whining. Nothing. Okay. But stilling, no lying. Nothing. Okay. But still a lot of fun. Yes. It's way better when you're not prepared. Shout out to moderator Lewis, by the way, who compiled all the great questions for us.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And in fact, the first quote unquote question is a poem in honor of us. Oh, really? Are you ready for this? I'm going to read this. All right. Oh, God. This is a lot of honor of us. Oh, really? Are you ready for this? I'm going to read this. All right. Oh, God, this is a lot of reading. Sheesh. In the world of combat and grace,
Starting point is 00:03:33 two figures emerge, leaving their trace. Ariel Helwani, a voice so renowned, and Luciana Andrade, beauty unbound. Ariel, a journalist who leads the way, reporting on fighters night and day with passion and knowledge, he stands tall, a trusted source for one and all. Luciana, an Octagon girl, so bright, her radiant smile, a dazzling sight. In the world of Cage, she brings light, a beacon of elegance in the fight. Together they stand in their own sphere, champions in a realm where few dare.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I don't know if I said that correctly. Anyway, bound by their love for the sport, their stories and presence will always support. In a world where strength and beauty combine ariel hawani and lucy and andrade shine each playing their part and standing out a testament to the world mma's about wow shout out to me bravo reese salazar 24 for that that was pretty impressive how long do you think it took him i'm assuming uh to write this very i don't know but oh thank you for the kind words loved it and what about that talent getting things to rhyme like that that's no small task right i'm honored i don't know if you've ever had a poem written about you before have you ever had a poem written about yes i did
Starting point is 00:05:00 you have yeah who's written a poem about you? Ex-boyfriends, people, you know. They've written poems about you? Yeah, I have. So my mom's house, I have like a box full of letters and things that I received over the years. I definitely had poems before. Did it work? Not always. No.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Okay. Okay. Lesson to be learned. All right. Let's move along to number two. Luis Moreno. Ariel and Luciana, how do y'all feel about double dates slash group dates? I recently was dragged into spending my Saturday evening with my girlfriend's co-workers and their partners and got stuck playing mini golf with two strangers as we were separated in two groups of guys versus girls. Questions like what music do you listen to? And do you play any sports or brought up during the 18 holes? What are some of y'all's go-to questions slash conversations when talking to someone new? Sheesh.
Starting point is 00:05:56 I mean, it's a lot of work. A lot of questions. Double dates, I guess. Yeah, definitely double dated before. I'm actually, this weekend, one of our friends, my fiance has this guy friend that is very good looking and girls are constantly asking about him. And because he posted some of the pictures
Starting point is 00:06:17 of his bachelor party, coincidentally, two girls, different girls from different groups asked about him. So we're going to have like a group thing on Saturday to see if one of the girls, you know, if anything happens. Wait, both of them are coming? Both girls are going? No, no, no, just one of the girls, yeah. Okay, all right. Yeah, they don't know about each other.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Okay, okay. So, it's not like may the best woman win? No. Okay, that would be fun. Bring both of them at the same time. Yeah, but it's not a bachelor. I know. I know. That's what I was thinking when I said that. So wait, you have to be like the wing person in this?
Starting point is 00:06:53 No, we would just like hang out as a group. And if something happens, it happens, you know? Yeah. Do you know the girls? I do know. Do you know the girls? I know one of the girls. The other one, I don't't she's a friend of a
Starting point is 00:07:07 friend um but i heard that they they're all good girls so and and that's a good guy too so whatever whatever he wants i guess yeah can i be honest i hate double dates i mean i'm more of a one-on-one type it's like it's too much there's too much going on and I'm too insecure. What if my date then ends up liking the other guy? I mean, it's a whole big mess of a situation. I think I feel you. I think if I was the single one, I would rather to go with just one, just the guy and me, him alone. And if nothing happens, whatever, as a group, I would feel pressured.
Starting point is 00:07:41 And then even if I liked the guy, I would think, oh, are they paying attention on us? Like, is this weird? Am I reading the guy wrong? Like, incorrectly? It's too much. It's too much. Yeah. But in this situation, I feel like it's probably better for the guy. Because imagine, you know, as a guy's probably this this um social pressure of you having to do something and what if he doesn't like the girl right and if it's a social setting group of friends then it's fine right then let's just be friends have you ever been on a blind date before i haven't been on blind i think talking about this i think i think i have been on a blind date. I think we're talking about this. I think I have been on a blind date before. I'm trying to, have I been on a blind?
Starting point is 00:08:29 I mean, isn't it every dating app day-to-day, you're kind of like blind because you don't know the person? That's true. By the way, I'm so old that I predate dating apps. Okay. So, yeah. I guess that's what the kids are doing i actually met i met jeff on a dating app but before that i was i was against it i thought oh this is so weird but then eventually i i got single i was single and that was the only way it was during covid i don't know how um i don't know
Starting point is 00:09:02 maybe in canada things are different but down you know in brazil you go out and you you never go out and don't see don't see people making out you know don't see guys hitting on girls or girls hitting on guys i went out a bunch of times in u.s and where like nothing happens like not a single guy came to our table or so i guess meeting people organically is really hard depending on where you are in the wow it sounds like they're very forward in brazil like it's one big party very too forward too forward geez yeah yeah my sisters uh they actually said that we were in mexico i guess the parties we were going was mostly you know people from the u.s maybe but they were saying if we were in was mostly you know people from the U.S. maybe but
Starting point is 00:09:45 they were saying if we were in Brazil in this party there would be a million people making out we we wouldn't see people kissing it was so weird I mean it's like one big orgy over there I guess have you been to Brazil like in a carnival that's pretty no it is no I missed out wow yeah all right sounds like a good time. This next one is from Jackie. Hi, Ariel and Luciana. Loving the new segment. My question today is how do you deal with feeling worse than everyone else around you? For context, I'm a senior in college and pretty much all of my close friends have been able to secure top FAANG internships.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Now, do you know what FAANG stands for? F-A-A-N-G-g luciana no i do not i didn't either but uh moderator lewis has helped me out fang believe it or not stands for facebook amazon apple netflix google oh that was a thing that's a gen z thing i guess i didn't that's how old we are, I guess. I'm Gen A. Anyway, while my internships haven't necessarily been bad, I just haven't been able to get to that top level. Hoping you could give any advice on this. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:10:55 P.S. Ariel, can you help me name the waters and where I can find baddies and addies? That's another inside joke. These people, they love the inside jokes, Luciana. It's all that P.F. Chang stuff. you still haven't figured that out right so someone tagged me at a post on twitter explaining is that anything does that have anything to do with brandon schaub or something no i'm not familiar brandon or brandon i don't know some some guy well i'll explain it to you later okay um are you are you a fan of of his comedy
Starting point is 00:11:27 i don't even know who he is what you don't know who he is former ufc fighter yeah but like when when did he retire uh maybe 16 maybe it's a little bit before your time yeah towards the end you weren't at ufc 13 were you? The first show in Rio? No, I wasn't. 2001. Anyway, big time comedian. I started in November 2014. I think he was around.
Starting point is 00:11:55 I think he was around, but it's okay. You could check out his comedy. He's got some big specials. Is he good? Highly rated. You know, 1.6. Do you like him? Big fan, big fan. Great Do you like him? Big fan.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Big fan. Great guy. Never met him. I don't know if it's Biden. Anyway. Okay. All right. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:13 So, how do you feel? You're not getting any jobs. And this person, Jackie, I don't know if it's a boy or a girl, feels bad about that. That's okay, right? I mean, here's my thing about young kids, like college kids. You have to realize life is hopefully a long journey. You get worried about college internships and all this stuff. And then you realize once you reach your 40s, none of this matters.
Starting point is 00:12:34 None of it matters. Just enjoy your time. Don't overthink it. Don't get too down on yourself. It'll all work out. That's my advice. Yeah, I don't know. I guess you never know who those people know,
Starting point is 00:12:46 because it's not just about your resume. When you're starting, you're all starting without having any experience. Sure. Some people might have better grades, but I feel like ultimately it's, it's a lot had to do maybe with their relationship. Who do you know? You know, maybe, you know know someone that put it in a good word, or maybe not. Maybe it's all your merit. But life isn't fair. If you're going to feel bad about every missed opportunity, you're going to be constantly putting yourself down. I actually can relate a little bit, slightly, because I am in a weird situation where, okay, I have a degree in law from Brazil, and then I have a degree from here, but I am in a weird situation where, okay, I have a degree in law from Brazil and
Starting point is 00:13:26 then I have a degree from here, but I am not an attorney here. My knowledge is kind of like, unless I take the bar and pass the bar, then I'm not an attorney. So I, I'm not a paralegal either. So how do I get those jobs? I don't have the experience and the longer I wait, um, the more, I guess the detrimental it gets for, it gets for my professional career if I want to build something illegal, right? But I try not to beat myself down because I can't compare myself
Starting point is 00:13:53 with someone that went to law school here and got their internship a million years ago and etc. Because I am no longer taking a master's, I also can't take an internship so I'm just like yeah you know can't compare myself I sure would love to maybe get more opportunities here and there and as that's not just for legal that's for anything that's for entertainment like what we're doing now you know maybe having more and more opportunities you can generate more income the more people see you them the more they they like you the more they uh more they they want you so perfect you should clip that off and send it to those people anyway so i guess don't feel bad that you have all the time in the world and things can ship just like this i agree it's important not to compare yourself to others. Everyone's journey
Starting point is 00:14:47 is different. This is from Blaine, Ariel and Luciana, planning to propose soon to my girlfriend. Any advice? What is each of yours proposal story? Have you told us the proposal story yet? I don't think I have. Okay, let's hear it. I don't think so. Okay, so I never had a proposal in mind. I was also never a girly girl. I thought I was never going to get married. So when we were planning, we decided to plan this trip, I had a feeling that he was going to propose because he was acting weird. Like as in buying clothes and like trying to, hey, we should practice couples pose. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:15:28 Oh my gosh, practice couples pose. What are you talking about? Who does that? I was cute. Um, just like acting weird. You know, I just, I just had a feeling, but then I would say something to my friends or my sisters even, and nobody would engage. Like normally when you're a girl and you say, Oh, I think he might propose. It would be like, really tell me more. And they were just like not engaged. So I was like, either he isn't doing it or he is. And they all know, and they don't want to talk about it because they don't want to spoil it. Um, so because every trip that we, we take, usually it's like, he makes some reservations here, I make some reservations
Starting point is 00:16:05 there. But usually the restaurants, it's on me, I do the research, right? And then on that specific trip, he was like, Oh, I already made a reservation for this day. And then I'm like, okay, you know, so fine. I thought in my mind that, oh, he's probably going to propose. And if he does it, it's going to be on the beach or something. That's what I thought. But I've never been to Santorini. And Santorini, it's all rocky. You don't really go to the beach, or at least I haven't in that part.
Starting point is 00:16:36 I mean, we did later. But anyways, so we go there. And I didn't know that, by the way, maybe you're going to tell your story, but guys, when they have the ring, it feels like a hot rock in your pocket, right? Because you're afraid that you're going to lose it or the girl's going to notice. And he traveled with that thing the entire time on his pocket.
Starting point is 00:16:57 I didn't notice. He bought like a small case apparently on Amazon. So I wouldn't see it. I thought that maybe it was going to be on his backpack because he carries his backpack everywhere um but no so he was like very stressed the entire trip and i'm like just relax get a drink you know yeah um but the time we got there we were super jet lagged so we were checking in at the hotel and i guess he reached out to the concierge this is this is a really long story by the way um no no it's okay listen he reached out to the concierge. This is a really long story, by the way. No, no, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:17:29 He reached out to the concierge and told them, hey, I'm going to propose to my girlfriend and please don't say anything. The minute we get there, she's like, you know, you're super tired. You're traveling for like 14 hours, whatever. You just want to shower. And it's so hot out. She's like, oh, trying to show us the the hotel
Starting point is 00:17:45 and she's like and i see here that you have a photo shoot schedule for tomorrow and he was like no she was like are you sure because i see here and he was like no she was like are you jeff and he was like no so then i'm in my mind i was like like, okay, it's definitely going now. So then I just like, I'm like, I'm going to pretend I didn't, I didn't hear it. I didn't even look back to like make fun of him. Nothing. And I said, oh, that coast here was like kind of rude trying to book us like forces to buy, you know, boat tours and photo shoots that we have in schedule.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Like so, so rude. So that made me feel a little bit better. And in his mind, he's already like, I can't do this right now. It's off. I have to do it like in another situation. She already knows it. But then he was like, I can't keep traveling with this thing in my pocket. It's happening.
Starting point is 00:18:43 So, of course, we were supposed to be ready, let's say at seven. I thought to myself, I was like, it's probably going down on, you know, during sunset, sunset is not until almost nine. So we're good. I I'm getting ready. I dropped toothpaste, my dress, I have to clean it. He gets nervous, goes upstairs, whatever. Long story short, we're going upstairs in my mind is like, Oh, we're going to go to some beach eventually. And he's going to propose. No, he's like, oh, we're going to go to some beach eventually. And he's going to propose. Now he's like, hey, come here. Let's take a picture here. And then we pass by like this restaurant with a bunch of people. And then I see the concierge that is never doing anything.
Starting point is 00:19:16 He's like, hey, can you take a picture of us to the concierge? And then I see some photographers. I'm like, oh, my God, it's happening here. And then he puts me like in the ceiling thing. It's like a curve thing. And there's a cliff down there. And I'm not a shy person, but I thought, okay, I'm going to die. He's going to die.
Starting point is 00:19:36 We're going to die in front of all these people. So then he went, he pretended to take some pictures. Then eventually he went down on his knee and I'm like terrified because we're going to fall. But it was it was it was cute that was the story and of course the concierge also messed up because i guess he told her hey i'm gonna give you the phone i don't want you to take pictures i want you to record a video because he already had a photographer right of course in the middle of the thing she changes her mind and starts taking pictures so that was a story very long. You do a video, right?
Starting point is 00:20:05 Or no video? Yeah, I do have a video because I'm a videographer. I actually appreciate that because it's very smart if you think about it. Because we had everything recorded and we took pictures,
Starting point is 00:20:20 then later on, we still had the photographer for an hour. I went downstairs and changed dresses just in case because of the Tuesday thing. Yeah. And because we had all those pictures, we didn't have to do an engagement photo shoot. Because, you know, those are the ones, the photos that you usually put on your website, right? On your invitations. We had all that already.
Starting point is 00:20:41 So I thought it was great. I didn't even have a website, I'm told. Mine is not as elaborate as yours. But I do like the story. I told my wife that I was going to Dallas to cover an MMA event. But in reality, I was going to Montreal, where we're from, to go to dinner with her parents to ask her parents if I can marry her. And I've known her parents for a long time because we've known each other since we were 12 so i did that i went to dinner
Starting point is 00:21:10 i flew back like 6 a.m flight and then i had a little this is 2007 i had like a little digital camera uh this before iphones and i put it like in the corner of the hallway of the apartment that we were living in on top of my luggage and then i rang the doorbell and she was sleeping because it was still like 7 30 in the morning and she opened the door and i was there on one knee and uh she was like what the hell is going on i thought you were supposed to be in dallas but there i was to ask her to marry me that's cute that's cute that's you don't know that it doesn't really stack up to being in the middle of santorini and all this other nonsense.
Starting point is 00:21:47 That was a very, but each couple is different. Some people like it more. Some people like it. I have friends. I'm a simple guy. My sister actually says, she was like,
Starting point is 00:21:56 I don't want anyone around. I want something simple, blah, blah, blah. So every person is different. He wasn't planning to have a bunch of people there, but because I got late,
Starting point is 00:22:10 the restaurant got full. And then a lot of people were like on the clips like watching the sunset so it's good that he was his back was facing all the people because i think he would he would have gotten like way more nervous uh if he noticed the amount of people out there yeah i've seen the footage from the uh the lovely invitation that you spent and it's it's fantastic uh by the way i uh i rsvp'd well i didn't really rsvp did i no you didn't no i didn't but i did send a gift yes you've been on me yes all right i'm off the hook samir um what is the most adventurous journey slash life-death situation you've experienced? I've had a few such experiences while riding a bike and during trekking, whatever trekking is. What is trekking? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:55 Have you ever had a life or death situation? Nothing comes to mind right now. I feel like the closest that I get to life or death is like anytime I go on a plane. Yeah. You take for granted just how insane, like you're just in the air for six, seven hours. Yeah, I never had that situation of like,
Starting point is 00:23:15 oh, I decided not to take that plane and the plane went down, you know, knock on the wood. Yeah. I don't think I ever had a, luckily, I don't want to. No. Yeah. I didn't have one either. Thank God. ever had a, luckily, I don't want to. No.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Yeah, no. I didn't have one either. Thank God. Not that I, no. Not that I think. Alhamdulillah. Eric, Bomjia, Luciana, and Ariel, my question is for both of you. If you are on death row and afforded one last meal of whatever you want, what would you choose?
Starting point is 00:23:41 And he adds, no well-done steaks allowed, Ariel. Now, here's the thing luciana a lot of people like to make fun of me that i like my steak well done they think it's like a they think it's like an indictment on my character on my personality i say it's an indictment on your personality if you care so much about how i like to eat my meat who gives a crap why does it bother you so much people do get offended by it they get so offended when i was vegan i would say i would tell people like oh i'm vegan people would feel personally offended attacked by it like what you were vegan it's same thing with the coffee whenever i say i don't drink coffee people are like
Starting point is 00:24:15 you don't drink coffee yeah i kind of reacted that way um when you told me that but uh do i mean do you like a well-done steak uh i'm more of a median, but towards median well. I don't like it when it's too blitty. Yeah, it's disgusting. Yeah, but well-done, sometimes it's too much. Then how do you cut it, you know? I like it. It's like a hamburger.
Starting point is 00:24:38 I went to a Brazilian steakhouse one time in Rio, and it was incredible. They just come with the thing, and you turn the thing. Oh, I love that. I love the Brazilian culture of steakhouses because it's all you can eat. And people literally sit there for hours. So, what about last meal? Do you know what that is? Like you're on death row. Yeah. Very simple. So, I always, is it just one course? Is it like a full day? No, it's not like a full day it's like you know this is gonna sound very very silly but i would i guess it would either be rice and beans wow because i like it that much yeah or a very good pasta like uh like a gnocchi, a lasagna, ravioli. I mean...
Starting point is 00:25:25 I love lasagna. What about tortellini? That's my favorite. I'm not crazy about the tortellini. Is that the weird ones that... Yeah, but like in a soup. Have you ever had a tortellini soup? Yeah, but no.
Starting point is 00:25:38 I think I would do either the gnocchi or the lasagna. I love pasta. I'm so excited. Yeah, it's a little heavy. It's a little heavy, but who cares? You're about you're about to die right yeah you're gonna die so yeah but i do love rice and peas that's very brazilian uh arroz con feijão arroz con feijão yeah how about that pretty good impressive what what is your last meal You didn't say. Acai. Acai?
Starting point is 00:26:07 Yes. Oh, my God. I didn't know you liked acai that much. Oh, my God. But that's like sweet for a last meal. Isn't that more like a dessert or breakfast? Are you kidding me? Acai con granola, banana, a little guarana. What are the toppings that you usually pick? Oh, I don't like crazy toppings. Just give me the banana. Give me the granola, banana, a little guarana. What are the toppings that you usually pick?
Starting point is 00:26:26 Oh, I don't like crazy toppings. Just give me the banana, give me the granola, and I'm good. And I hate it in America. I like the BBC Coco's one. Yeah. Lately, I'm doing the banana, strawberries, and blueberries. And then I like when it has like some coconut sprinkled. I don't like when people put like Nutella and condensed milk.
Starting point is 00:26:45 That's too much. Is there any good acai place in LA? Yeah, there are a bunch of acai places in LA. Not like Brazil. No, there are places that are Brazilian owned in LA, actually. I can text you some. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's too late to leave.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Thank you. Wow. Next time. Too bad. Next time. Liam. Hey, guys. it's too late to leave thank you wow next time too bad next time uh liam hey guys new favorite show and absolutely love the dynamic luciana no selling ariel has put her into my favorite people ever category wow that's kind of mean uh my question is when growing up did either of you deal with bullying or even were you a bully?
Starting point is 00:27:25 Did anything notable happen at the end of that relationship with the other people involved? Have a wonderful day and a better tomorrow. Holy crap. I've never heard someone say that before. Have a wonderful day and a better tomorrow. I love that. I like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:37 I'm going to steal that. Yeah. I like that. Were you a bully as a kid? I guess a little bit. Yeah. You were? I think so.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Not too terribly, no. I was definitely bullied, but it was different times. I'm not saying it wasn't hurtful to the people that were bullied. It's probably, you know. Who were you bullying? I don't remember, but I'm sure like, hey, look at the size of my teeth. So I imagine like when my teeth was growing, was like i look like a rabbit so people made fun of me and i definitely made fun of people that had glasses you know oh wow geez that's how it was like back in the day like that show that
Starting point is 00:28:19 movie that was that was really like at at a very young age i think after we didn't have i definitely didn't have that situation like in high school the the situation that we watch in the movies american movies uh we didn't have we were not mean like that i actually always had girls that wanted to be the crap out of me schools every school that i went to why um so of all sorts of reasons it was like there was this girl when i was in fifth grade she didn't like me because the boy that she liked that she liked like me but i didn't even like the boy um there was one girl that wanted to beat me because i had straight hair so i was like i don't know that's why she wanted to beat you up but i never so there was i i was gonna say nobody, I never got into a fight,
Starting point is 00:29:07 but I actually did one time when I was in high school. But I always had like a group of, you know, friends defending me. Like a legit fight, like punches were thrown? No. So here's this. I was in high school, first year of high school. I don't know how you guys call it. It's different.
Starting point is 00:29:23 We had three years in high school, first year of high school, I don't know how you guys call it. It's different. We had three years in high school in Brazil. Anyways, there was this girl in my class and she was dating this guy called Fernando, right? One day we were studying in the afternoon because it's a different school system, right? And I went in the morning because I had some school work to do with a group. And that guy, Fernando, saw me and said something, made a comment. And she thought that I actually, I liked the guy or something. I didn't, nothing, right? And she felt very jealous of it. And then I got, I'm like, what the hell? I didn't even do anything. So me and my friends were like talking about it, I guess, changing notes, sending to each other.
Starting point is 00:30:08 And we definitely made fun of her. And because nothing happened, eventually we went to a break. She caught those notes on the trash. And she was like, oh, my God, I'm going to be the shit of this girl. But she didn't tell me she was going to be the shit of me. So we are in a break i'm like crossing this huge huge patio and i see my friend right across the patio like waving at me and i'm like hey i'm getting there i'll be there in a second and this girl is coming
Starting point is 00:30:39 you know to my account and i'm like looking at my friend because I'm like okay what do you want when I'm like literally this close to her she slapped me in the face and I'm like it took me a second to realize what was going on and she was like you don't touch Fernando oh my god and then but I I don't know I guess I guess I got possessed at a moment and I just grabbed her hair and I threw her on the floor and we're just like, you know, and then some guys, yeah, some guys separated, but I was not expecting, I didn't even look at her when I was like passing by. It was not like she was yelling at me.
Starting point is 00:31:18 I'm going to beat you. She just waited when she was right next to me and then slapped me. It was like a hell of a slap wow i just lost it i was like i'm gonna murder you yeah so that was the only time i got in a fight but yeah definitely got bullied and definitely bullied but we all survived damn i didn't realize you were such a badass maybe you are the bad girl no i didn't do anything bullying bullying people getting bullied getting into fights i mean i was i was definitely bullied before but sure i probably bullied somebody i just can't remember
Starting point is 00:31:52 exactly what it was but it wasn't like i wasn't a mean kid i don't think how about you uh i was i was never i a really good kid. I was nice to everyone. I used to volunteer at an old age home, help all the less fortunate. I mean, I was a real angel of a kid. Did you get bullied? What do you think? Do you think I look like the type that would get bullied? What are you trying to say?
Starting point is 00:32:24 I was actually, believe it or not, people don't know this, But I Honestly I was like Actually one of the cooler kids Don't you get bullied still Like to this day No I was Me I'm the one Online
Starting point is 00:32:31 No It's all out of It's all out of respect Isn't that all bullied It was all like So like It was very hard You have to understand
Starting point is 00:32:39 Because like All the girls wanted to be with me And all the boys wanted to be like me And it was So it was like You know What do I do You know what i mean those it was weird it was weird but you know it was a good time uh malca bom dia ariel and luciana uh ariel i've been a fan of yours for a long time and i've pretty much never missed the show in the last couple of years. Thank you, Malka. Luciana is a breath of fresh air,
Starting point is 00:33:05 and I love that she is showing the real human side to Ring Girls. My question today is for Luciana. I am Mexican, and Spanish is my first language. I decided to learn Portuguese, and I'm a couple of weeks in now. You mentioned that, quote-unquote, friends, oh, the show Friends taught you English. Are there any Brazilian shows that i can watch to help me learn portuguese any sitcom-y type shows like friends i love y'all's banter he'll want me forever love all you guys wow so much love um so any good shows out there that this person can so i think the way friends helped you comedy shows i i personally think it's it's harder to to learn a language through comedy shows. I mean, to learn Portuguese because of the slangs, right?
Starting point is 00:33:50 I would say try to watch the novellas, you know, the telenovelas. Brazilian novellas are huge. So we don't really have shows as in the ones in the US. We have novellas, which pretty much similar to that, but we don't have seasons. It's like, let's say, from February to to november this story this long story that is being told from monday to saturday and everybody watches it we have novellas at six and then you have one at seven and then you have one at like eight or nine and they're so popular people like it but this is like uh this is like a soap opera right here in amer, sort of the same thing?
Starting point is 00:34:25 Yeah, yeah. Kind of like that, but with better stories. And then I think Netflix also has some cool shows in Portuguese now. I just don't watch them because I try not to. But my fiance was asking. And I think that, yeah, the novellas. So is there one that comes to mind? A name? Oclone. they're a bunch i yeah but oclonia remember i like that one a lot it's about this
Starting point is 00:34:53 the story of you know this guy gets clones and then i i don't want to spoil but i i liked it it was very popular and they And they sell those stories worldwide. So Brazilian novellas are very popular, believe it or not. Yeah. I believe it. Check it out. Yuri.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Hello, Ariel and Luciana. Greetings from Amsterdam airport. Currently on my way to Prague. Safe travels. Both of you guys have been to Europe multiple times. What have been your favorite places in Europe thus far? And what country slash place in Europe are you looking forward to traveling to in the future? P.S. Secretly, I had a crush on Luciana when I saw her live for the first time at UFC Rotterdam.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Overeem Arlovski in May 2016. How about that? Oh, yeah. I went to Rotterdam twice. Those were fun. Yeah. Very fun. Favorite place in Europe?
Starting point is 00:35:48 Oakland, huh? Favorite place? Favorite place in Europe? Italy. Italy. So hard to beat Italy for me. It's the thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:57 I like Spain a lot. But Greece was pretty fun. So was Greece. So many fun places. Yeah. You've been to way more places in Europe than me. I love England. Not as exotic. But I love Yeah. You've been to way more places in Europe than me. I love England. Not as exotic.
Starting point is 00:36:07 But I love Ireland. Have you been to Ireland? I've never been to Ireland. I've been to Scotland, England, and what else? Yeah. That's pretty much it. And the UK scenario there. Never been to Ireland.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I did like... You've been to Russia? I've been to Russia? I've been to Russia three times, yes. St. Petersburg and... Wow. Yeah, and... What was that like?
Starting point is 00:36:32 Very different. Yeah. Yeah, it was fun. I actually enjoy walking around the cities. I thought at first I was like, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:36:42 just by watching the movies you think everybody looks like a spy. But they were so nice to us. I got to try a caviar pancake. I hope I'll never try that again because I hate caviar. I learned. A caviar pancake? A pancake made out of caviar?
Starting point is 00:37:02 No, no. I mean, there was caviar inside the pancake. Oh, God. It almost looked like a crepe. Right? No, no. I mean, there was caviar inside the pancake. Oh, God. It almost looked like a crepe. Right, right, right. Right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Europe's fun.
Starting point is 00:37:11 It's so easy to travel to. I wish it was just like that, but in South America. Right. I think people would travel way more. Have you been to Argentina? I did. Yeah. Buenos Aires.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I know it's on Europe. Pretty fun city. Yeah. Kelly, hola, Luciana and Ariel. I know both of you are in faithful relationships, but I was just wondering, who is your celebrity crush? P.S. my vote is for Beauty and the Nose for the new name of the show. Peace out.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Celebrity crush. Celebrity crush. Celebrity Crush. I wonder if that is all time. When I was younger. Jon Bon Jovi? When I was growing up, I had a massive crush on Jon Bon Jovi. Really?
Starting point is 00:37:57 Yeah. I guess like the open network, the famous channel in Brazil, put on a show, a live show that it's one of their famous records. Um, the best, in my opinion,
Starting point is 00:38:11 I can remember it's the, it's the one that has all the classics anyways. And he was singing with the, with like a USA bandana USA flag. And I was like, my God was that was probably six, seven years old. Um,
Starting point is 00:38:33 he's a legend. Yeah. have you ever seen him in concert i did i took my family to a concert years ago in miami when i was still living there it was pretty fun wow that is amazing um do you know do you know brooke burke no oh i love brooke burke uh she was on a show called Wild on E back in the day. She's like a big fitness person now, but she hosted a show called E. Wild on E. But it was on a network called E. You know E, the network? Yeah. Yeah. So it was on it late at night and she would travel the world and go to these exotic locations and she'd go to Ibiza and tell you about the culture and all that. This is like when I'm in college and obviously very impressionable and lonely, if I'm being honest. And because I was so cool.
Starting point is 00:39:15 And one day I was reading an interview with her and I read that she's Jewish and that she loves matzo ball soup. And I was like, what? Jewish people look like this? Yes. I love soup and I'm Jewish. And in my mind, I was like, jewish people look like this yes i love soup and i'm jewish and uh in my mind i was like maybe i have a chance uh don't have a chance never had a chance but uh on this
Starting point is 00:39:33 channel i actually uh when you know i started doing these interviews that were outside of the ma world i reached out to her and i got her on the show i i interviewed her last year and it was amazing and i told her that i had a big crush on her back in the day. So that was very exciting. And she was very nice. And she told me all kinds of crazy stories. Is she still your crush or you no longer have a crush? Well, I would guess, I think my wife is my crush.
Starting point is 00:39:55 I mean. Fair. Yeah. No, I mean, look, we're all human beings. So you're not just going to be like cut off from you know having any sort of feelings yeah but i don't know if i have like a a crush at the moment that would like would be a celebrity crush i actually i was thinking about that when i was watching have you watched this show it's called um daisy jones and the six it's a new show my wife loves it okay okay i started watching it and i was like oh yeah the guy playing
Starting point is 00:40:26 the you know the lead singer on the band i was like i'm kind of confused i'm like is he attractive is he not like i'm i'm so intrigued um what's his name i don't know the name of the actor but the character is is billy dune done okay dune so that's your celebrity great show great show you gotta watch got to watch it. It's so good. Yes, yes, yes. I'm obsessed. Daisy, I think it's on like one of the streaming platforms, right?
Starting point is 00:40:50 Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I'd say if I had to pick one celebrity that I've probably, are you familiar with Ariane Celeste? Yes, Ariane Celeste. I'm just joking. I'm just joking. I'm just joking.
Starting point is 00:41:06 All right. Aaron, dear Mrs. Andrade or Miss Andrade and Mr. Helwani, the other day I was at the cinema with my girlfriend watching the film Women Talking. Excellent film. However, about five minutes into the film, the pair next to us started rustling bags aggressively. No biggie. Until I catch a whiff in my nose of fast food.
Starting point is 00:41:25 As I turn my head, I'm shocked to see the woman eating a large Big Mac meal, nine nuggets and a milkshake. I'm all for snacks and bringing your own to a film, but a powerful drama ain't the place for your dinner. What are some of your biggest movie theater pet peeves? And what do you think of this fast food travesty? The theater smelled like fast food for the next two hours thank you for everything and i love this segment hopefully we can get an in-person edition so you both can graduate to true bffs have a good one well we blew that um so that's not going to happen i do feel like that that's like someone bringing a big meal on a plane like you can't you have to be a little bit considerate you only hate it because it makes you want that same meal and you can't have it, right? That's true.
Starting point is 00:42:08 But also people always eat on theaters. We have those that you can actually buy your meal prepaid and you have a full dinner while you're eating. So I don't have a problem with people eating. I guess it's more so if you're hungry and then someone is eating something better than you are then yeah that's not good but there has to be some etiquette in a movie theater right like talking people do eat burgers i've seen people eating burgers yeah they actually serve i don't know if you saw those they probably have those where you live mario where you can basically purchase like it's not just popcorns it's anything like it's sandwiches it's pizzas they bring it to your seat it's amazing love it no it's too much it's too much the last time i
Starting point is 00:42:55 went to a movie that wasn't a kid's movie was 2011 oh my god isn't that crazy yeah it's just do you know what the do you know what the movie was it was called 50 50 have you seen it no it's about um it's a is that for kids no no no it's about a guy oh what's his name and he gets cancer uh seth rogan is in it oh it's such a good movie and then i you know what i said? I was like, you know what? I can never top this, so I'm going to, I'm never. Oh, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Do you know him? No.
Starting point is 00:43:35 That's the last movie I went to that wasn't a kid's movie. So I need to get out more. You're a big movie person? I am. I just haven't been to to a theater recently i remember i watched the elvis i watched um the northman who's a terrible movie to watch wait what was the one you just said before the northman oh the elvis elvis movie oh elvis yeah elvis I have an accent. What is the Elvis? Like, the LV? I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:44:08 I probably watched something. Oh, the Bowl 7 movie I watched recently. Or whenever that launched, I watched. There was something else. I watched the Bulletproof thing with Brad Pitt. We usually go to the movies often. When you get kids, that's going to change. When you get them.
Starting point is 00:44:32 I like going to. You'll see. You'll be too tired. My first. You take a nap in a movie. That's the best spot to take a nap. You take your family to the movies and then you go to sleep for two hours. It's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:44:43 I don't take naps. I like watching it. No, I would take the nap. Oh, you would take the nap. That's why to sleep for two hours, it's fantastic. I don't take naps. I like watching it. No, I wouldn't take the naps. Oh, you wouldn't take the naps? That's why you did that. Yes, yes, yes. Oh, come on. No. All right. Taco Enthusiast. Hi, Ariel. While traveling for work last week, I got super lucky and was able to see the Northern Lights one evening. Pretty cool to scratch something off
Starting point is 00:45:02 the bucket list without even planning it. What are the three things on your bucket list that you really hope to do see or experience before you move on to your post-life journey man wow i would like to go to egypt see do ah i've been fantastic yeah i'm gonna do that except be careful with the food. My brother had horrible diarrhea there. Oh, really? Okay. Good to know. Every time I think of Egypt, I think of that. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:31 We were 10 years old. I would like to do a safari. Okay. And my third one, I would like to, what is that? No, I don't know. That's not on my list, but I would like to do that Santiago de Compostela walk that people like walk for many days, many hours a day. And it's very. Is that in Chile?
Starting point is 00:45:58 No. No, it's in Europe. Oh. What is my third one? Maybe Jerusalem. Oh. What is my third one? Maybe Jerusalem. Oh. Israel, my home country. I've never been.
Starting point is 00:46:12 I've been wanting to go. Oh, you should go. I'm going this summer. Yeah? Yeah. In fact, my honeymoon was there. Really? Awesome.
Starting point is 00:46:20 Yeah. Where's your honeymoon going to be? I haven't decided yet. awesome yeah where's your honeymoon gonna be yeah i i wanted to do the the maldives but then we learned that it's rainy rainy season in july and then the right thing to do is like let's say if you want something similar then you go to like bora bora but because we're going to be in italy it's way too far to go back to the u.s and then get on another plane so i think we're going to do a mini moon like South of France, Monaco, Saint-Tropez, whatever.
Starting point is 00:46:47 You'll already be in an incredible place. Yeah. And then December, do a proper honeymoon, I think. So many vacations. I know, but only once. YOLO. After I have kids, I'll probably be like you, taking maps. Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:04 In the movie. In the movie. I don't really have a top three. I mean, it'd be cool to go to New Zealand. It'd be cool to go to like Finland. But, you know, I'm pretty happy. Africa. Africa.
Starting point is 00:47:21 I mean, I definitely have places I would like. I would like to go to Antarctica Antarctica Antarctica Antarctica Yeah Have you ever been to Montreal?
Starting point is 00:47:32 No I've only been to Canada once It was What's the name of the city? Edmonton Jeez I mean with all due respect It was for a UFC fight
Starting point is 00:47:44 Yeah This is not this is actually edmonton's like my least favorite city in canada it's very boring they treat it as well yeah i'm sure they did because nothing exciting happens in edmonton um you need to go to montreal toronto or vancouver those are the i know i know i i gotta go i what is that place it's called is it bent uh bamf bamf yeah i want to go to that that place someday yeah that's beautiful in the winter but also in the summer it's beautiful mountains have you ever skied before if you're a skier you should go there no you're not skiing in brazil no um but yes uh there whistler in bc these are all great places um here's kobe hey guys i'm going to get straight to the point this week where do you see yourselves in 10 years and
Starting point is 00:48:34 10 years ago where did you see yourselves today did you achieve all of your goals wow deep 10 years ago so that would be 2013 are you where you thought you were going to be? Doing a YouTube show with me. What is this, like a job interview now? No, no, no. I'll say this on this note. Whenever you're getting interviewed, you come across, you know, very often you come across one of these questions. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Starting point is 00:49:14 I don't know. Yeah, yeah a job. Is that a right answer for those questions? No. Are people that work in the HR? I would say there's a better, like what people want to hear is these are my goals. These are my dreams. This is what I hope to accomplish. Does it have to be super specific? No. But I think that people want to hear that you are ambitious, that you dream big. Like, in my opinion, you know, we only get one life, we only get one shot. So, you know, dream big, shoot for the stars, all that stuff. And people want to know that you're like, not just content with the status quo, quo you're not lazy you're not the type of person that's just happy with their current situation you want someone that's going to push and strive for more and all this stuff and so that's why i think people ask those questions yeah yeah i always i'm too honest i'm like you don't have big dreams like where do you want where do you want to be in 10 years but
Starting point is 00:50:01 think about it like you're being interviewed by somebody let's say it's want to be in 10 years? No, I do. But think about it. Like you're being interviewed by somebody. Let's say it's going to be your boss if you get hired. And you say, oh, yeah, in five years, I hope I'm like still, you know, in this job, in this position. You don't have ambition. You don't want to get your boss's job, maybe. Right. You can't say that. But, yeah, if I knew, no, I did not know I would work for UFC. I didn't know I was going to live abroad. I knew I wanted to explore the world. And I still don't know where my life is going to
Starting point is 00:50:35 be in 10 years from now. I think I don't, I am not the type of person that makes plans for plans. Does that make any sense? I'm down with that. I'm down with that. I don't make plans for plants. Does that make any sense? I'm down with that. I'm down with that. Plans for plants. Yeah. So I hope that in 10 years, I'm happy. I'm healthy,
Starting point is 00:50:51 you know, because without health, you can't do much. I hope I have people that, you know, love me around me, that they're supportive of whatever I'm doing. And I hope that the world hasn't gone crazy by then.
Starting point is 00:51:07 That one could happen. In 10 years from now. Yeah. What's the dream job? If you can have a dream job. I think something related to, I don't like the word broadcasting, but I guess, you know, something with entertainment.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Why don't you like that word? I love that word. Because it's so broad. It could be anything, right? It could be you know, something with entertainment. Why don't you like that word? I love that word. Yes, because it's so broad. It could be anything, right? It could be you. Broadcasting. Yeah. Yeah, involved in something with sports and entertainment.
Starting point is 00:51:33 Maybe something related to legal even. I don't know. I'm open. You can combine the two. Hit me up, LinkedIn. Yeah. You can combine the two, entertainment and law. Speaking about it. WhatsApp sponsors, speaking about uh speaking about it what's up sponsors speaking
Starting point is 00:51:47 about it yeah what's up uh luciana said she's only going to do this show for five weeks and if the sponsors don't roll in she's out she's done she can't be bothered with this bullshit um they're not hitting you up i feel like they're all up in the dms no no they can hey guys they can you're available just click away you're just a click away uh you can wear something like you'd wear the hat right you'd you'd you'd be down with that do you think every i don't think every person everybody looks good on hats by the way can we talk about that sure go uh i'm a big hat guy i love hats yeah i know are you trying to say i don't look good with that i got a cool new hat wow you said yeah i don't think i ever saw you with a hat here's my new hat this hat is actually cool i like all sorts of hats there you know
Starting point is 00:52:42 there are cowboy hats. There are hats. Oh, no. I'm talking about basic cowboy hats. I saw a guy wearing a cowboy hat on the gym yesterday. That's ridiculous. And I'm like, why? What are you doing? And he had like glasses that were colorful glasses.
Starting point is 00:52:57 I couldn't understand. But it's Gold's Gym. Weirdos. Lots of stuff going on there. I feel like sometimes girls, like they don't know how to wear the hat properly. Like they stick their ears in. That's weird. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:53:13 It's tough with girls. I think if you have like small ears or like it usually looks cute. It depends on the shape of your head. I have a big head. Yeah. No, it's tough. I'm like trying.
Starting point is 00:53:23 It doesn't fit. Is there anything worse than a guy who tucks his ears into his hat i don't think i've seen that many guys tucking their ears oh it's bad if you have to do it don't wear a hat yeah it's tough it's tough i don't like that look but i'm a big guy i'm not judgy but i'm just like I feel bad for your ears. It feels like they're being pinned into your head. Like, who wants to wear a hat? Maybe they don't like their ears. Maybe their head makes people pay attention to their ears. Or they think people will pay attention.
Starting point is 00:53:54 Don't love it. Don't love it. But listen, I'm also not judgy, so if you're comfortable with that, do your thing. But I'm a big fan of hats. One thing I don't like are visors i hate visors but you know they'll have it on the beach because girls wear wear those yeah i guess i'm not saying i love them but i i can understand why people do those sometimes you want to like
Starting point is 00:54:16 put your hair on a cute ponytail and then the visor helps with that all right um that does it for the questions on that note okay we're good uh did you how would you rate the questions from from you know one to ten they're pretty good um people need to keep asking they need to keep asking how do they do that how do they do oh yes thank you wow that's a good uh plug uh you can do it on Substack, arielhowani.substack.com. Also, you can do it in the YouTube comments. I'm actually unsure if we're going to have another show next week
Starting point is 00:54:52 because you're traveling. I am traveling. Yeah. I can do it. I can try to do it from the trip. Oh, okay. All right. So I thought that was off the table
Starting point is 00:55:02 so we can discuss that. Just don't know about lighting and sound and all those things. Well, here I am. I mean, look at my commitment. I brought my microphone. You're a pro. I don't know if I'm going to bring my microphone. You have the same microphone.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Yeah, I know, but I'm a girl. Actually, if we were to break the fourth wall here, we were supposed to do this yesterday. You couldn't do it. So I had to bring everything with me to la just so that you know right yeah so we're finding out who's more committed to this operation well you're a pro already so i don't expect anything less you know we we appreciate everyone who sends in the questions everyone sending in the comments and all the suggestions it seems like the 10 and the 7 is winning out.
