I sure hope you're doing well. It is great to be here on another lovely Wednesday
in New York City, the final day of the month of April.
And if I'm being a thousand percent honest
with all of you as I like to do, I'm in a great mood.
You know why?
I'll tell you why.
I'm sure you're probably thinking,
oh, Ariel's gonna be salty, Ariel's gonna be bummed,
he's gonna be upset, ornery, after the next Blu at game five at home,
have to go to decrepit Detroit on Thursday to try to seal the deal here.
I'm sure you are thinking that, and there's a part of you that is probably correct.
However, however, I'm in a great mood today for really two reasons.
Reason number one, it's my son's birthday.
Thirteen years ago today my son was born.
I became a father for the first time.
It was one of the greatest days of my life.
I'll never forget it.
I was in the hospital room.
They were putting the little thing on top of the Freedom Tower.
1776 feet tall in honor of 1776, you know, America, all that stuff.
And my life changed at approximately 1230.
Can't believe I'm a father now of a teenager.
And those who have been riding with us for all this time,
you remember when it happened?
It happened on a Monday.
I didn't do the show that day.
I came back the following week.
We only did a show once a week.
You'll remember, I think it was the third time
I became a dad, Rick stepped in.
I think that was the third time, not the second time.
I might be wrong.
It could have been the second time.
No, I think it was the third time.
Dressed up as me.
I think that was the first time that he actually sat
in the hot seat, so to speak.
And so, yeah, a lot of emotions, a lot of pride.
So proud to be a father, so proud of my family,
so proud to be my son's father, so proud of him
and the person that he has become,
and I know every single dad out there
would probably feel the same way.
And so I'm in a good mood.
For that reason, we're going to a nice restaurant
later today, got him some gifts.
Everyone's very happy.
I'm a little annoyed that this whole thing is shifted here,
but that's on me.
I have OCD, I've said it before, it's a problem,
I'm working on it, I'm sorry.
If I'm being 1000% honest, again,
why did I say that twice?
I don't know.
When we do the Dazon show,
I have to take the Celsius cans away,
and then when I move things over,
it doesn't fit in exactly like I like it.
It's a problem.
We're working through it.
We're working through the kinks.
The other reason why I'm so excited is because thank you, thank you, thank you Bam Bam.
The other reason is what a lineup.
You know, like I said on Twitter, we've had a lot of eclectic lineups over the years.
Someone asked me what's eclectic.
It's a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
We've had a lot of them.
I don't know if we have ever had a more eclectic lineup
than this one.
And this is essentially, this in a nutshell,
is why we had to change the name of the show.
Because if this was last year, people would be like,
ew, it's an MMA show.
No, it's not that.
It's a little this, it's a little that.
It's something for everyone.
And I don't know if we have ever had a lineup
that embodied that spirit better than today's.
And it really hit me yesterday when I was reading the lineup
and the guys were like, damn.
Because when you're working through everything
and you're putting someone here
and you're putting someone there,
even my kids, first time ever today, they were asking me,
because I told them some of the names on there,
like, how do these people come on?
I say, I reach out to them.
Like, how do you get them to come on?
I don't know.
I just reach out to a lot of people.
It was cool to see them somewhat interested finally
in what I did, the process,
how the sausage is made, so to speak.
And so on today's program, it's a great one. Back end of the show, my old friend,
Quinton Rampage Jackson, the alpha male,
to end all alpha males, he will join us.

He announced late last week that he is going to be joining PFL Europe. He'll have a fight for PFL Europe on the 23rd of May.
Had a little thing with Khabib earlier in the week.
This is a big freaking deal.
That event on the 23rd of May is happening
at Acre Arena in Paris.
I was there to see Canada lose to France
in the quarterfinals of the Olympic basketball tournament.
It's a beautiful venue.

cup wins in France, England, and Italy,
competed in three Euros, two World Cups for France.
He was the captain of the 2010 French national team,
81 caps for France.
Retired in 2018.
Played with some legends.
And now is crossing over to MMA.
Not boxing like a lot of other influencers do.

and I wanna talk to him about this,
one of the best athletes turned interviewers,
I've said this on the show, people have asked me,
oh, who's a good interviewer?
Stone Cold is phenomenal.

Anyways, Stone Cold Steve Austin gonna join us.
For the first
time in 11 years, we had him on in 2014. We had him on episode 200 of the MMA
Hour in 2013 and then we had him on a year later in 2014. And I may bring this
up again so forgive me if I repeat it. I'll never forget this, you know, we have a
lot of people come in studio and and you know they ask for a car, they ask for
this, they have an entourage and that's all fine there's nothing wrong with that you may
have a brother that comes with you a manager a sister a wife a PR person a
photographer a videographer very very rarely does someone come alone I'm sure
it's happened a couple times the one that I could tell you for sure was
Stone Cold Stone Cold.
Stone Cold came alone in July of 2014.
He was promoting a show that he was doing.
I asked if he wanted a car, a taxi, whatever.
He said, I'm gonna walk from my hotel and he came alone.
Do you remember this New York, Rick?
He might be busy.
No, I do, I do.
Yeah, and I'm still blown.
Like this is 2014, by the way.
Like just a couple of years removed from his active days

So humble and even in all his interviews like you see he the guy is just incredibly humble
And obviously in the news recently because he was at WrestleMania 42
both he and Bret Hart were inducted once again into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Second induction for him, third for Bret, the first ever immortal moment for
their match at WrestleMania 13.
That was the one that they had the double turn with Bret, the blood, Ken Shamrock.
My gosh.

I would buy the pay-per-view just to see
how they pull it off.

There's a lot of bells and whistles that makes this a very intriguing buy on a Friday afternoon.

because they've got to be out by, I think, 10.

But I just want to see how it looks, ultimately.

for an individual considering what he has done,
his resume, his body of work,
but also considering how he conducts himself,
his humility, how he treats others, how he treats the business.
No one says a bad word about this man. Everyone has the utmost respect for him. Everyone pays
homage to him and it was so great to see him back in the limelight just a couple of weeks ago
in Las Vegas in his adopted home state of Nevada getting getting his flowers once again, two time Hall of Famer
now going in there with the great Bret the Hitman heart for their incredible match at
WrestleMania 13.
It was beautiful stuff.
And so it was a big, big deal for me when he said yes to come back on the show.
And it is such a great thrill, such a great privilege, honor to say hello once again to the Texas Rattlesnake
himself, the one and only, the inimitable, the often imitated, never duplicated, Stone Cold Steve
Austin. Hello Steve, how are you? Hey, good morning, how are you? I'm doing great. It's so great to talk
to you again. I really appreciate you doing this. Thank you. Thanks for having me on. I'm looking at
myself. I've got a bunch of red here. My lighting is not optimal.
I look great.
So it's just my lighting here and my wife's office.
Listen, I don't know what you're talking about.
This is a shoot.
You look fantastic, all right?

Good to see you again.
Well, there's so much to talk to you about,
but I actually want to start here
and perhaps you will be a little bit surprised
as to where I'm starting. I do this show, I talk for many hours, and I often talk
about the art of interviewing. I love interviewing. I'm a real nerd when it comes to the science,
and I know that sounds a little bit like Pasha, there's a science to interviewing. I strongly
believe it's my favorite thing that I get to do is interview people. And when I'm asked
who are my favorite interviewers, at the very top of the list, I always say Stone Cold Steve Austin. And when I'm asked who are my favorite
interviewers who have gone from being an athlete turned interviewer, because as you know, an
athlete, they feel the questions, they're a little egocentric, they don't know how to
turn the tables, going from interviewee to interviewer is not easy, you did it better
than anyone. You're number one in my opinion.
And so I wanna give you that props because till this day,
when I have a Brett on or a Goldberg on,
I go back to your sessions with them
and the interviews are phenomenal.
You listen, you're empathetic, you have follow ups,
you steer the conversation in a perfect way.
You don't get enough credit
for how good of an interviewer you are.
And quite frankly, if I could be selfish,
I wish you would do more of it.

It has been very successful.
And I don't know, I guess I got lucky
because I looked at a lot of people when I started,
kind of doing a podcast thing and interviewing people.
And of course, when you first start talking to people,
even though you've been talking your whole life,
the interview part of something is different.
So it's a learned skill.
So I guess I just grabbed on good, okay,
but I wouldn't say I'm the best by any stretch.
You know, I've been thinking a little bit
about starting back in the podcast business.
I took my podcast off the air about five years ago, at about 2020. So I've been thinking about getting back in the podcast business. I took my podcast off the air about five years ago at about 2020. So
I've been thinking about getting back in the game, but maybe doing something that's just a little
bit more about my life more so than interviewing people. But I'm kind of trying to make up a
decision on that. I started racing in the last three years. I've been staying busy doing stuff
like that. So I appreciate that.
That's a hell of a compliment.
Please do it.

Those chats were amazing.
So, you know, from one viewer and fan,
just like to say, would love to have them back.
And I just love the way you went about doing things.
When you got the call that you were going back
into the Hall of Fame, this time for a match,
the first of its kind, what did you think?
What was your reaction?
Well, I knew that was a great match, no doubt. And I noticed it was going down
because Chicago, Rosemount Horizon, one of my favorite buildings to work in,
probably the favorite building for me to work in. And I love Bret Hart, and we
just always had great chemistry from day one and Triple H gave me
the call and I said, hey man, we're thinking about doing this and this is going to be the
first match to go in.
And man, I have such a long list of great matches in my mind that could have gone first.
But this one obviously made sense.
I think there's some great matches.
This is one of the great matches, but just the
historical impact that it had on the rest of the business after this match unfolded, where Brett
would go on to become the heel. I would turn into an anti-hero babyface and have the Austin run.
I couldn't have had that run without Brett. And so it was Vince's vision of what, you know, they could have done with Superstar Billy Graham
way back in the day when he was starting to be loved
as a heel.
And I don't think they knew what to do with him
back then beating for the title.
And Bob Backlund is a great champion and a great wrestler.
But you know, Superstar was never the same.
I guess I didn't see the big picture that Vince saw
of turning me baby face.
Certainly I was becoming one just from crowd response.
Vince saw that, Vince had that vision.
We did the turn, the double turn,
executed that with perfection.
Shout out to Ken Shamrock who was a big part of it as well
and the announce team, but it was awesome.
You know, it was a great night at the office
and every time you go in the ring,
you want to have a match like that.
And that doesn't always happen, of course.
But at the highest level, we were able to execute
and go out there and have a great match.
And it was just a big honor to go in
and be the first match of his kind
to start this new trend.
You know, just a day or so after the announcement was made,
I saw you did an interview with someone,
I think you're at like an autograph signing
and they asked you for your immediate thoughts on going in.
And you said, you know, a lot happened leading up
to that match behind the scenes,
but you won't go into it now.
You know, being the inquisitive mind that I am,
perhaps we have a little more time.
What were you referring to when you said a lot was going on
leading up to that match?
Well, you know, like I said, you know,
we went into the finish room
and it was just myself and some bread. And we kind of got the, you know, like I said, you know, we went into the finish room and it was just myself and some Brett.
And we kind of got the, you know, the DL about what we needed to do.
And then Brett and I went out there and sit around the ring for a little bit and we just
got to shoot the breeze.
And not really laying out a whole lot.
I mean, that's just not the way me and Brett worked.
And you know, he, you know, he just kind of mentioned it in passing,
that it might be great if you got busted open.
And I was like, I don't know about that.
And so it turns out I hit my head on that guardrail
and got busted open.
And we already had that crowd who planted sinker,
but that color and
that match just magnified at times 100.
And then ultimately at the end of the match, when I'm trying to get out of
that sharp shooter, that devastating finishing maneuver that breaded used,
uh, I couldn't escape and just find a strain and do my damnedest to get out of
that and the blood pouring down my face.
One of the most iconic images in the history of pro wrestling.
I'm not trying to blow smoke up my ass,
that's just the way it was.
Couldn't agree more.
An iconic shot turned into t-shirts and posters
and all that stuff and more.
I think a lot of people were wondering
if you would be involved in WrestleMania
since you were there, you would do something,
some kind of appearance.
In the end, we got it.
Was that the only plan or other things potentially discussed
as far as your involvement Saturday, Sunday?
No, man, I was just happy to be there.
God dang, you know, I had a knee replacement,
give or take about four months ago,
and for a total knee replacement to heal up 100%,
you're looking at about a year.
And so that was on December 4th.
So whatever the timeline is,
you would take around four months,
I'm feeling really good.
I don't squat anymore.
I'm doing some hand doing squats along with my workouts.
But I haven't even tried to run yet.
So I don't even know if I can run,
not that I run a lot to the ring.
But I would imagine I'm about 30 or 35%,
not 100%, at about 30, 35% of capacity.
And so I did what I could and just to be involved in the show,
go out there and announce the attendance at WrestleMania night one, night two combined.
And that's what I did.
And that was about all I could do. I mean, earlier in the year, we'd had, you know,
not really discussions, just like briefly,
hey man, you want to be there,
maybe we can figure you out.
And I said, hey man, I'm getting my knee replaced.
We'll see what happens, you know, when that time comes,
time came and I can't do much.
Logan Paul said on his podcast that he offered you a sum of
money to dress up in a prime bottle and you turn it down. Is
that true?
Right? You know, if he said that, you know, I'm not going to
call him a liar. And I just thought that was kind of
personal business. But so since it's out there, yeah, turn it
down. I'm in the beer, but I'm in the beer business. I sell
broken skull beer.
And, you know, we're in about 25 or 30 states.
I don't know anything about his product.
I don't know about the ingredients in it,
if it's good, if it's bad or whatever.
So, you know, it just, it wasn't my thing.
So, you know, yeah, I turned it down
just because I wasn't into it.
And that's no disrespect
to him or his product.
I saw the reaction to that news coming out
after he said it and I think it was like 99.9% people
saying, thank God he turned it down.
I don't think a lot of people,
with all due respect to him and his product,
which I have no issues with,
I don't think people wanted to see you
dressed up in a prime bottle.
No, man, it's just, not my gimmick, you know?
Like I said, he's done really well.
Obviously he's hustling and he's going and getting it
and more power to it.
It just wasn't a great fit for Steve Austin.
Could I ask, obviously I'd be remiss
if I don't ask your perspective on the ATV riding.
What happened there?
Oh, just different throttle setup
than what I'm normally used to.
And long story short, just different throttle system
because I'm pretty manhandling on a four wheeler.
Any sort of aftermath there to all that?
No, just, you know, I was embarrassed about it
and I think everybody's okay. But I mean, you know, I was embarrassed about it. I think everybody's okay.
But I mean, you know, you go out there on the biggest night,
you know, in wrestling, and you end up like that.
It's not the greatest day at the office.
You go out there and you want to give people the best show
that you can, and when you fall short of that,
it's not great.
Speaking of unannounced appearances or whatnot,
I was there a couple years ago in in in Texas when you and ko had the
Finale on night one and I always wondered about something if if if it was always the plan for it to turn into what it
Turned into why wasn't it promoted as such because it was promoted as the ko show, right?
It was promoted as the ko shows promoted as sort of like an interview and then it ended up being almost like a full blown match and I wondered, wow, the reaction to the buildup
would have been so great.
Could you tell us how we got to that point and was it always supposed to be like that?
No, just because I mean we were at Uncharted Waters when they came up with that.
It was getting pretty close to the time that it was going to be WrestleMania.
We went out and filmed that promo right down the road
from my house, but I didn't get a ring to practice in.
Man, I trained like a sumbitch to get in shape
with that match, and when you don't have a ring,
when you're not doing cardio-specific activities
like running the ropes,
but if somebody had to slam them doing wrestling activity,
your cardio is just not there. So, you
know, it was going to be built as what it was. And I guess so
maybe it would lessen the expectations of the people like
you say, this will be a full blown match. Well, again, I
wasn't in that kind of condition. I looked good. But
my gas tank wasn't there. And then I've always prided myself
anybody several work with me knows that if we're going,
you know, I might, if, I'm not gonna say that I never blew up,
but if I did, I never stopped.
I kept going at WrestleMania, working with KO,
and I was blowing pretty good,
but I kept just getting a sip of beer
just to kind of quench my thirst,
because, you know, I was out of shape, I wasn't in ring shape.
So I guess bottom line, long story short,
just so if you haven't and I hadn't been in a ring
in almost 20 years,
it's just like Triple H Undertaker and Hogan said,
you know, one hand I don't have any time
and other hand I don't have any time and on the other hand I don't
really know what I have.
Another hand, you know, I'm not calloused up, my body's not ready.
So each one of those guys said something that was very true about that match and zero timing.
I ran the ropes two days for that match in the ring they had at the hotel.
So you know, if you build it as such, those have been high expectations to live up to.
So then you over-deliver on something that's unexpected.
Okay. I completely understand.
If that ends up being your last sort of active,
quote unquote match, are you at peace with that?
Totally, totally.
There's always that part in the back of your mind
where, you know, there was a match, I
think they bill it as like an exhibition match.
It was between Nick Bockwinkle and Bill Robinson over in Japan.
And man, those two guys, they've been on a really nice clinic.
I think it's about an 11, 13 or 15 minute match.
And of course, the Japanese people really appreciated that match. Those guys
were bad asses and they can really work. So to do something like that would be fun. You know again
it's an exhibition you're not trying to go out there and steal the show. You're just going to go out
there and try to do it one more time in front of the fans because you love the business as much as
you do and it would be very interesting. So you always think in the back of your mind about something like that. And again
exhibition style so you don't have all that pressure of trying to be who you
were in your athletic prime because when you're out of prime
there's just a night and day difference of how you can perform and
that's just the bottom line. That's the way it is for any athlete and any sport
But if that was my last endeavor in the ring, I'm totally at peace with it
I ran hard. I had fun. We achieved a lot and
It was what it was and I have no regrets. So I gave it everything I had.
Were you ever, when you were coming up,
when you were at the very top of the game,
cognizant of maybe some of the guys
who stuck around too long and said that
you didn't want to be one of those guys,
I know injuries played a part, your body plays a part,
you had been through the wringer,
but I also feel like the reason why people
bring this up so much is because they want more of you.
You never stuck around too long.
We didn't get an over saturation of Stone Cold.
Were you cognizant of that and didn't want to be the,
because even right now you could be around,
you could be doing stuff on camera.
I'm sure the door is open.
Do you not want to be one of those guys?
No, I don't want to hang around too long.
But when I look back,
I think your perspective on things that happened
in the ring changed kind of as you, you know,
go down the road of life.
When I look at some of the guys who maybe some people
considered hanging around too long,
I get the fact that, okay, maybe on one hand,
financially they didn't take care
of themselves. But then also, on the other hand, it's just, and probably more so, is
just they love the freaking business so much that they just don't want to get out of it.
And I didn't have an exit strategy either. I just simply pulled the cord on myself, pulled
the plug, due to what was going
on. I'm doing my list of injuries and I got out. But a lot of people hang around just
because they love that shit so much. And I just can't blame them for that. And that's
just the way it is. But anytime I go in front of a crowd, I kind of have a timer in my head about, you know, leave them wanting more.
Don't want to leave them wanting you less.
God dang, it was cool seeing Austin, but he stayed out there all freaking day.
Jesus Christ, get him out, give him the hook.
I don't want to be that guy when I'm going out there.
So that's kind of the way it was with my career, and that's kind of the way I appearances I want to I'd rather get out too soon rather than stay too long and wear out your welcome.
There was a lot of obviously chatter in the aftermath of WrestleMania did they get it right
did they get it wrong I'm wondering did you did you watch both nights and and if so I'd
love to just ask your perspective who better than you and so the first question is, did you watch the entirety of the two events?
No, I didn't.
What about the the ending of night two, the the Sina roads finish?
I didn't see it. You didn't see it. What did you go home?
Yes, I did.
Wow. Any particular reason?
No, I just wanted to beat the ground.

And I haven't watched it back.

Like are you not, I mean maybe you follow
but don't sit down and watch all the ads?
I follow WWE on IG.
That's where I get most of my content.
I get the snippets and stuff that they play
and that's what I see.

I did see a clip of you and EO Sky.
You seem to be very impressed
with her.
She was one of the earlier matches.
What about that performance, that match, led to this moment between the two of you?
That was one of my favorite matches of the entire two days.
And right before this, about 30 minutes before this, I saw Bianca Belair and
I told her the same thing.
Had I seen Rhea, I would have told her the same thing.
Man, it was just an amazing match. Great timing, very physical. And those three women are bad asses to begin with. All of them are great workers. And man, Bianca in the short time
she's been around has really picked everything up. And I really like that match and also like that match. Well, I like to drew McIntyre's match with priest
I like the
The match with a ray
brawn breaker who else was in there, but there's four guys in the ring and
Dominic excuse me dominant dominant goes over. Yeah
What a finish and the right guy went over and a ring full of killers, of course
You don't expect him to go over.
That was another one of my favorite matches.
Could I ask what do you like right now about the business
or maybe who in particular?
Like who is someone that you're like, that guy has it.
That guy's or that girl is doing it right.
Well, you know, Rhea is doing it right.
I mean, she's been around for now, you know,
she's a veteran, but she still gets better.
I like the way she bumps.
She takes a lot of pride in the way she bumps, the way she sells.
She's a solid physical person.
I'd like to see Charlotte get back on track with her storyline
or whatever's going on with her, because I love her.
Bayley didn't get to perform at WrestleMania.
I love their starting up an angle with her and Becky.
Of course, we let Becky's back.
Guy-wise, I love what Brian Breaker's doing.
I want to see how he improves.
It's interesting to see that he's with Paul Heyman.
Paul Heyman can't get the best out of your lost cause.
And that kid has blue chipper written all over him.
So under the tutelage or under the learning tree
of Paul Heyman, I look for big, big things from Brian Breaker.
And there's a ton of men and women that I'll forget,
not forget, but not mention just because I don't watch,
you know, my wife doesn't watch wrestling,
so I don't watch wrestling as much as I used to.
We eat dinner and watch a show.
I love that.
I do love the fact that you're very well aware of,
I mean, you're mentioning guys and girls doing stuff.
So it's not like you're completely, you know,
out of the mix here.
Yeah, man. I mean, God dang, man.
The business has changed so much since when I got in
there because, you know, if you work with the Nashville fairgrounds, you know, that building
is shaped like a rectangle. Hills addressing over here, babies over here. There's no common dressing
room. That referee's going to come in there and give each guy the finish. He could go out there
and call that the ring. So that's the way we were working. And that was a weekly territory. We're in, what was Nashville, that was a Friday
night or Saturday night show. And we were traveling the rest of
the USWA territory. So that's what that's what I grew up on and
grew up doing. And you know, listening to to the people and
making your decisions, you know, accordingly and calling up
matching the ring. And now it's just turned into the fast-paced more athletic style
that it has and the men and women are amazing. The storylines are, let me see, a little more
complicated, very interesting, more levels of depth. So I enjoy it for what it is.
I am a pro wrestling fan.
I'm glad to go pro wrestling again.
The sports entertainment thing was great
for what it was intended.
So it didn't insult people's intelligence.
And now being on Netflix,
it kind of lifted the curtain a little bit more,
but I watch each stage that the business develops into,
and I appreciate it from the K-8 Man days
and to the nowadays.
I'm a fan.
I'm always a fan.
Wrestling fans, they're old school in a sense.
They're nostalgic.
And so when things like,
there's this documentary that's coming out of series
on Netflix where they're gonna show behind the scenes
like the writing process, the creative process
called WWE Unreal,
or even little things like ads
all over the ring, they get very fired up.
To the non-fan, you'd be like, who cares?
When you see this stuff, how do you feel about it?
Are you old school like that?
Should there not be ads on the ring?
Should there not be cameras in the writing room?
Man, that's where I'm still a little old school on that.
And it's just like, I'm a big magic fan,
but you know, if Harry Houdini's still around,
you know, I don't want him to tell me how he does it.
I want to figure out how he does it.
And if I can't, then I'm gonna keep wondering,
and I'm gonna keep watching, but I'm gonna keep wondering.
So don't tell me how he's doing it,
but see if I can figure it out myself.
Because I want to think that, yeah, I know it's not magic it's it's an illusion but let me keep wondering about
that illusion very much agree with that I've heard you say recently that you
never wanted I'll correct myself it was your idea to turn heel at WrestleMania
17 but you regret it is that a fair assessment you wish you didn't do it you
kind of wish that you called an audible in the moment
and stunned Vince.
And that led me to think of John Cena.
And I also have heard you say you didn't watch it.
And I know here you're telling me you don't watch it.
And I a hundred percent understand that.
Could I just ask, do you think there will become a time
down the line where he regrets he didn't have to turn heel?
Do you feel like the same thing will happen to him?
First of all, to answer what you said,
yeah, man, if I could go back in a magic time machine,
I would have told Vince, hey man, we used him.
He helped me interfere,
beat the hell out of Rock with that chair.
He's very physical.
Well, I laid that stuff in.
And I went into that match, that buildup,
that package that they put together, that
really kind of reinvigorated me.
We were both in there, the number one and two baby faces.
I wanted one or two talents in the world going head to head.
And I love working with The Rock, but I'd have called that audible and I told Vince,
after it was all said and done, watch this stunner.
I'd have dropped him on that stack of dimes he called a neck and I would have stayed a
baby face going on to John Cena.
Man, I love what Cena's doing.
I love the way that guy talks, his promos, where he's going with it.
I know some people think differently, but I like the ride that he's taking me on because
I'm invested in John Cena.
I've watched him for a long time.
He's a class act.
And I think he's going to look back and love what he's doing,
because he loves the business.
I think he truly enjoys it, Nita.
He loves it so much that at this stage of his life,
he's had so much success at this stage of his life, he's had so much success at this stage of his life
in the business and outside of the business
and the movie industry and entertainment.
He's only doing this because he loves it that much.
And he wants to take the people on another ride
and a ride that they haven't been on yet
and it's warranted and deserved.
I love that by the way. Did you ever think that we would be living in a time where
Vince McMahon is alive but not affiliated with WWE?
It seems weird. But I mean, only for a minute, because you know, when they sold the company to
TKO or whatever the deal is, you know, it was like, okay, it was kind of like the end of an era.
And now that we've taken a breath, okay, we digested that the era is over, and it is what deal is. You know, it was like, okay, it was kind of like the end of an era. And now that we've taken a breath,
okay, we digested that the era's over
and it is what it is.
So I remember talking to Vince 100 years ago
when he wanted to take the company public.
And I told him, I said, dude, it was just me and him.
I said, why do you want to go public?
He goes, Steve, it'd be more legitimate.
I was like, man, what the hell, be more legitimate.
He owned the whole damn thing,
he was worth a shit ton of money, how much do you want?
So I never understood it to begin with,
and I love working with Bench,
I love working with all of them, the McMansions,
I've had a tremendous time working with WWE,
and we haven't always seen eye to eye on everything,
but I gave them all my blood sweat and tears and
They gave me a bunch of opportunities to go out there and crush home runs and grand slams
If the opportunity presented itself and I could carry out the mission we had a great time together
But you know that era is gone and a new one has began has begun and it's taken off and it's
Seemed like it's going good.
Can I ask, when were you the happiest in your career?
Does a timeframe, does a year come to mind?
No, that's an interesting question
just because some of the happiest days of my life
was when I was living at the Congress Inn
in Nashville, Tennessee, starving my ass off, you know, eating tuna fish
and raw potatoes, because I didn't have a hot plate
or nothing to cook it with, damn sure didn't have a microwave.
And I was happy then because I was learning so much.
And you know, when you're starving,
and you're making $15 or $20 a night,
and those are shoot payoffs,
that was how much I was making.
And I was probably
getting overpaid and most of those round trips, most of those round trips, you know, going to and
from Memphis back to Nashville, Evansville back to Nashville, Louisville back to Nashville, I mean
it was close to 400 mile round trips, man. I was starving but I was having a blast because I was
mile round trips, man. I was starving, but I was having a blast because I was making money.
When I got the call up to WCW and that was a great time. When I went to ECW, that was a great time.
Hey, man, when I finally broke through a stone cold Steve Austin, it just became a force.
That was a damn good time. It just seems like no matter, there's so many times when you're having the time of your life and it's not always about getting on top.
Sometimes it's just fighting through the struggles and those little wins of like going to Evansville,
Indiana on a Wednesday night and getting a little bit better pop than you got the week
before and maybe a little bit bigger pop than you got the week before.
And maybe a little bit bigger pop
than you got the week before.
It's all these little things that add up.
And over the course of a career,
I can't say that anytime was my...
Well, I could say that when I got white hot at Stone Cold,
that was a fricking blast.
But I guarantee you, man, those days when I was starving, because I
wanted to be a pro wrestler, 100% through and through in my
whole, in whatever, in my whole totality, I want to be a pro
wrestler. And when you get a chance to put on some ties and
some boots and go in there and work in a ring, and you're living
out your dream, then that's a good freaking time.
Just for a nostalgic sake.
Um, we were looking back to see if you competed on this day and maybe
this jogs your memory, maybe it doesn't just for fun.
April 30th.
That's today, 1992 at the South Florida fairgrounds at the Expo center in West
Palm beach, Florida, a man by the name of Steve Austin teamed up with Rick Rood, the dangerous Alliance to go up against Ivan Koloff
and Ricky Steamboat.
They beat you on that night.
Perhaps even more fun than that is that in 1996,
you wrestled three times at a TV taping,
once against Matt Hardy, the other against Fatu,
and then Shawn Michaels for the belt in Des Moines, Iowa,
at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium right before,
this is 96, right before King of the Ring. You had that run with Shawn Michaels, and then you Des Moines, Iowa at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium right before this is 96 right before King of the Ring
You had that run with Shawn Michaels. You had just turned from ringmaster to Stone Cold and you were about to explode any of that
Take you back three times by the way in that year in that month in 96 you wrestle 22 times
We looked 22 times in the month of April back in 1996
Man back in the day and really that, we were on the road.
Sometimes, I mean, we were working 27 out of 30 days.
And when you go to some of those TV tapings, you might be working anywhere
from three to four times, depending on how you were booked.
I mean, that was just the mission, the task at hand.
So working multiple times, working multiple times these days,
it seemed like damn near impossible,
but back in the day, that's just the way it was.
And it's funny because I can't remember
being in the ring with Ivan Koloff.
You sure about that?
Yeah, are you saying that, here it is.
Ivan Koloff and Ricky Steamboat
defeated the dangerous alliance, Rick Root and Steve Austin,
April 30th, 1992 at the South Florida
Fairgrounds Expo Center.
Golly, I guess if you say it happened, it did.
I remember one time we were down there,
I think it was a little town right outside of Orlando
called Pace, Florida, if I'm not mistaken.
And we were all dressing in like,
I don't know if it was like an RV or like a single wide
and for some reason Harley Race was managing Vader at the time and he was going to get out there,
he's going to go out there, someone didn't show up or whatever happened and he was going to wrestle
Ric Flair. Of course Flair and Harley Race had wrestled a million times in the past. And I just remember something like the Harley saying the Flair,
something like St. Louis 76 or whatever it was.
He was kind of giving him, you know, a match that they had a hundred years ago.
They were basically kind of go out there and do the same thing.
So it was just a classic Harley moment.
You had to know Harley because Harley
always kind of talked about like this. And you know, he was extremely tough and no one
messed with Harley. And of course, Rick adored Harley and Harley did so much for Rick. But
see those two old veterans go out there and put on a hell of a show and hear them have
that brief conversation was something
I still remember to this day more so than the matches I would have had said TV David.
Incredible. I'll let you go in a moment. I can't thank you enough for the time.
I just wanted to ask because I went back and watched some of that match against Shawn Michaels on this day in 1996.
And it's wild to see you in WWF at the time without the very iconic music that accompanied the
rest of your career, the glass break and all that stuff.
Do you remember when that was first presented to you and do you remember how you felt when
you saw, okay, this is the new music?
Because you can't look at you without that music, that music did so much.
Do you remember when it was all presented and came together?
Because the music they had you walk out to didn't quite have the same type of, you know, punch, if you will.
Man, I was lost because, you know, I'd wrestled for, you know, seven years as stunning Steve Austin.
And I had some pretty decent music back in WCW to go back and listen to that.
And then all of a sudden you got this slow plotting ringmaster type music
that just, you can't get any kind of swagger to it. You can't get jazzed up about
it. It doesn't spike your adrenaline. You're like lost. And so you have, it's like an actor
forming an identity or like a bio to be able to draw decisions from and an acting role
because of their past. And I didn't have any past. I was trying to go in on something completely
fresh that I couldn't identify with it. And I was basically in no man's land walking to the ring,
trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shit. And somehow, some way it ended up working. But
in that transition, it didn't necessarily feel like it always was. But you know, I was committed
to being the best that I could be.
And I had to weather the storms that anybody else would have to.
And I did.
And it all worked out tremendously.
And once again, you get your, your flowers that you so deserve a shout out to the GFI
racing team, which you are a part of broken skull beer, El Segundo beer, which I do
believe you recently celebrated 10 years with them.
You're, you're a force now in the beer business,
which is tremendous to see.
I hear you're getting back into the movie business as well
with Walk-Ons, right?
Get back no movie business, man.

the heels, like if you go behind the scenes, if you go backstage at a wrestling event in 2025,
everyone's just working out together. I told you guys, I think when my kids went back there
the first time, the only time, I think they were like, oh, this is an exact, like they saw the guys going over things. I loved it. Of course I know what
it is. So I thought it was very cool. But there was once a time where they wanted to,
you know, keep the kayfabe up so very well that they would have the good guys on one
side of the arena, the bad guys on the other side of the arena, and they
wouldn't interact behind the scenes, just in case someone saw them. There was a
thing in like the late 80s where Hacksaw, Jim Duggan, and the Iron Sheik were
pulled over for some sort of like reckless driving, and it was a big deal
because they were in the midst of a feud. Hacksaw was a good guy.
Iron Sheik was a bad guy and everyone was like,
what is this?
And they were driving around together.
Yes.
Yes.
This is a huge deal.
You look it up.
It's like, it's like the moment that everyone
felt like the business was exposed.
Fast forward some 40 years, 38 years, and there's
documentaries showing us the behind the scenes.

Molina's signing was premature. We respect the ABC's current suspension and
will honor their rules and suspensions. Now, I will say this, to Jeff's credit, he
did say, I don't know when I'm debuting, and he was
unclear as to whether he will debut in the midst of the suspension or after. He
never gave us a name, or excuse me, a date. He could sign with anyone, so not sure
what's the issue there, but an interesting...are they saying he didn't
sign with him? With Feldman or with BKFC?
I will also say I did receive some calls
in the aftermath of that interview,

United, Juventus, Monaco, Marseille, and West Ham, former member of Les Bleus, the French
national team, multiple-time Premier League winner, Champions League winner, on and on it goes. If you're a sports fan, if you're a football fan,
you have heard of this man.
He is crossing over to the world of fighting.
Now we have heard and seen people
from the world of European football, American football,
different sectors of entertainment
come over to combat sports.
But more often than not, in the last five, six, seven years,
it has been the world of boxing.

He'll be 44 by the time the fight happens is a pretty damn big deal and so without further ado let us say hello to the great
patrice evra who is joining us all the way in united arab emirates salui mon ami how are you
alieu ariel i'm still alive uh to be honest. Thank you for having me in your show
because for me it's a privilege,
especially as you are expert on this sport,
it's completely new for me.
But I'm living your dream, to be honest,
because I'm going to this career as a really humble person
because I was always interested about the MMA.
And today, to be honest, uh, I just finished my training session.
I'm just two weeks.
I'm training twice per day and he's no joke.
And he's no joke.
This is not football.
This is real.
And I'm crazy.
I just love it.
But for me, like I say, I really feel blessed to, uh, to have this opportunity
and today to be interviewed,
not in the football, but in the MMA world.
It's incredible.
And we really appreciate you coming on.
I know it's late over there, so thank you so much.
Could I ask, how did this all start?
This idea of you actually competing in MMA?
So I've been approached many times,
since I retired about box.
I think people know I like fighting, the sport combat.
Then it didn't happen. My schedule was really busy to be honest. Since I retired,
I'm working more than when I used to play. Then I think it was eight years ago,
a third part, Kedu, a good friend, came with an offer.
But at the end, we didn't make the fight
because some of the opponents didn't want to fight me.
And to be honest, it happened three weeks ago.
I received a call and they said,
Patrice, are you interested to do your debut in PFL?
I said, yes, without hesitating. They were like, really?
They were like quite in shock. I said yes because it's a moment of my life where you know May is my
month birthday and you know all my investment, all my things I could have take these months off
for preparing to be serious because like I for me, the fight is not important.
Of course I will have to win.
The most important is the journey is like every day
in the training, the way I'm struggling and dying.
Even the coach are quite surprised because I'm asked
for more and more and more, you know, in football
you use your legs or the legs we can kick, I'm fine.
But the grabbing, you know, all of that, the wrestling,
that's when I'm using muscle I didn't use before.
You know, I've done a lot of crossfit or whatever,
but it's a completely different world.
And that's why this is inspiring me,
because I always say working out is a luxury.
And so what's fascinating about this is,
as I said at the top,
we have seen a lot of athletes, celebrities
crossover into fighting over the last few years,
but very, very, very rarely do we see them come into MMA.
They just do boxing because, not to suggest it's easier,
but you only have to worry about the punches
and defending yourself.
Why not go that route as opposed to the one
you are choosing to go down,
which is mixed martial arts, a lot more complex?
Yeah, no, I'm a big fan of boxing. I respect any people, you know, going to the box world,
but I don't know.
I was always curious about what's the feeling,
you know, being inside that cage, you know,
it's a little bit like an animal.
And the way I played football, I was a defender,
so I'm really explosive, you know,
I'm always like, you know, low, professional.
And after when you meet friends like Khabib
and you see them training and you see the fight,
the fighting, like I like Michael Benon,
also a good friend, Islam, I can, you know,
Francis Ghanou, I can mention many of them.
It's just, I'm always curious, okay,
people see just the fight,
but what they have to do every day.
I want to put my body in that pain every single day.
And I'll be honest, it's two weeks we've been trained
and I had only one day off.
Like for example, tomorrow is my son's birthday
and I asked the coach if we can do only a training session
in the morning, he said, no, we do morning and after you finish the birthday of your son, a training session in the morning. He said no, we do morning and after
you finish the birthday of your son then you come in the evening. So that's the standard but I don't
complain like I say I forget Patrice Evra the Leysian football player or captain or whatever.
I'm a student, I have a lot of respect for the kids because I see so many young kids you know
working in the gym, coming every day of course course, they're enthusiasts when they see me.
But that's why I want to make sure this is not to create a buzz or whatever.
This is a direction I'm going and I'm enjoying, you know, the journey.
It's really hard.
Like when I back home later, my arm, I couldn't even like take off my shirt.
Even my wife was like, Patrice, you know, are you okay?
Are you sure about that?
I said, don't worry, in 20 minutes, you will be fine.
I put some ice and it will be fine.
You just have to enjoy the pain, you know?
And so as of right this moment,
do you know who you'll be fighting?
No, I'd be honest with you, Ariel.
I will tell you, I have nothing to hide.
First of all, I didn't ask my coach
because the person I'm fighting right now is myself.
So I'm more like my opponent is Patrice, is nobody else.
I have all due respect of people going to accept the fight.
Yes, it's true.
When the PFL asked me who I would like,
I say Luis Posuarez because I had a beef with him
back in the day when I was captain of United and he played for
For Liverpool, I'd like some racist abuse. I don't call him a racist
It's just that they use some racist word and I want to do this fight
You know, I met him after when I play for Juventus we play in the final champion's league
I shook his hand so I have no issue
But I think the world the world want to see that fight.
So I'm like, please, you know, accept the offer.
I don't know if it will be the first
or the second or the third fight,
but I think the world deserve to see that fight.
Yes, it was a huge story about 14 or so years ago
between you and him and fans and everything.
You put that in your tweet when you made the announcement.
To the best of your knowledge, have you heard any sort of response or feeling from him
as to whether he's interested in doing this?
I was quite surprised because I don't know if it's true.
I'm always careful, but Kalu and Marboza,
apparently his manager contact the PFL,
maybe to come and to watch my first fight.
I will be surprised because to be honest, he's still playing football and this is completely different.
He can get injured, but maybe it will happen.
Maybe not.
But like I say, it's not.
It's something I ask if it doesn't happen.
It's not a big deal.
Me, like I said, my first priority is to make sure, you know the profession the pro they see my posture you know
my my defense all of that they're like okay these guys is taking it serious like i'm more
worried about what the real fighter because i'm not yet a real fighter i didn't do a fight they
will say okay what is this clown no this for me my my my uh the way I think I will win this fight is when people will say,
oh, actually he got something.
And to be honest, my coach, they don't give me a lot of compliments,
but they're quite surprised the way I learned because I know from outside,
it can look like a violent sport, but actually so much tactics,
so much technique, you know, timing. And that's what I love because I so much technique, you know, timing.
And that's what I love because I learn every day, you know, the grabbing, all to pull up your hands, you know, all of that, that inspired me.
Is the hope and goal as of now to have more than one fight?
Uh, the people already talking without asking me.
I think they did see my first training session and they were quite impressed.
I don't want to sell a dream to people.
Like I say, it's step by step.
I'm living the present.
The present is to make sure I turn on in the gym every morning and every evening.
But let's do this first fight.
Everything can happen.

I know Dubai was quite close to hijack the fight.
They're really because I'm living in Dubai.
So for them, it will be amazing if I can do the fight here,
but I already made the agreement with, with Paris
and it will be in my own town.
So everything can happen, Ariel.
But like I say, it's too early, but I heard voice, PFL already working
on the second and the third fight.
Wow, okay.
That's putting the cart a little bit before the horse,
but I can understand their enthusiasm
because you're such a big deal.
And will it be an official pro fight
in the sense that three five minute rounds,
same rules as any pro fight?
I'll be honest, Ariel, I didn't talk about this,
the rule, if I can, you know, knee or whatsoever,
the gloves, if we gonna put like pads.
At the moment, they didn't explain me everything,
but I'm training the way to expect everything.
Like the way, like I have this question many time,
people ask me, but what is your style?
I don't know, because I'm working on every, every, you know,
part of the fight, like when I am on the ground, because it can happen when,
you know, I receive a punch or I will react, the grabbing, the wrestling,
you know, I think a massive shout out, you know, to Ramsey and Emile,
my two coach, because we really connected and they trust me.
One is like 125 kilo, he's a beast, even when he show me
sometime the movement, I feel like he can,
he can injury me really easily.
And Emile is like really tall.
So, you know, I have maybe some time to kick really high,
always with a smile, but the killer.
So they don't give me any present
because they understand I am not here for playing.
I am here to respect the sport
and I am here to respect all the amateur
and all the professional.
One last detail-oriented question.
Do you know what weight class you'll be in?
Yeah, so they talk about 73.
When I had the call, I was 80.
So now I am at 76 after two weeks.
So I'm not worried about the weight class.
I don't like to be 73.
I feel like, or even if, you know, you look your apps and everything, but I like to,
when I used to play, for example, I was 75 kilos.
So it would be like two less kilos normally than I used to when I was playing in the high level.
Okay, and so for the American fans, 73 kilos around 160 pounds. So around lightweight.
We saw a great video a couple days ago of you and Khabib Nurmagomedov speaking via
FaceTime. Is he in fact going to help you train for this fight?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. To be honest, we were supposed to train Friday, but he had a little
issue in the training and he showed me his little injury so he recovered. But definitely
before the fight, he wanted to test me. He's a good friend. I love him, but sometimes the way he
looked at me, I feel love, but I also feel like he wants to kill me, you know. I'm like, you
know, I've got a fight. No, send me your location. He's not joking. When you say send, he asked
me send me my location at least 10 times. He's really, you know, he's really happy.
I remember now I know him for a few years. I invite him, you know, at Old Trafford to
watch a game and introduce him to Sir Alex Ferguson. And we have that close relationship.
And I was quite surprised or excited.
He was. I remember the first text he said, Patrice,
I've been contacted to the PFL.
They say someone called Patrice Evra will make his debut.
And the only Patrice Evra I know is you.
That's that's correct.
I say yes. And straight away he called me, come, we need to train straight away. So for me, like I say, he's an owner.
Imagine how many kids will dream to be at that place
where someone like Khabib actually want
to show you some skill.
So no, I'm living a dream,
but every day in the gym, trust me, is a nightmare.

This is no football.
You know, I can show you the message is really serious.
Like, but even my coach, you know, that's the same way they
they not give me any present like they when they eat, they eat good.
They want me to feel the pain.
So for me, it's perfect.
I say to to to come in, you know, it's it's it's an honor.
But yeah, don't endear me.
But I know when we're going to sparring or whatever is going to make sure I feel it.
You want to make sure like you want to go this world.
OK, let me see if you can handle like, I will say maybe 70 percent of this trend,
because if you do 100 percent, I'm not sure I will be able to do that fight.
Any chance he corners you? I don't know.
I think Khabib is also a busy man.
He will be really happy.
But to be honest, for all due respect I have for Khabib,
my priority is Ramsey and Emelo, you know, my two coaches.
I start with them and I want them in my corner because at the end,
you know, I realize you need to trust your coach, you know.
It's not like you come and boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, no.
It's all you have to be patient, you know,
it's three minutes, like maybe the 30 seconds,
you start to looking, you know,
because when you look from outside as a fan,
you always think, you know,
when they do nothing is boring,
but actually I realized that's
when it's important.
That's when, you know, you also stay in your feet winning the round.
You need to be patient.
So that's why I'm fighting against my nature because as a defender, I'm explosive.
It's like straight away, boom, impulsive, but actually to calm myself, not using too
much energy, not to be too much critical, more relaxed with my hands.
So that's what we are also working on.

when I was doing something and going to see people. It's something I like. I don't do it today just
because I want to do it, especially affordable. I do it today because that's what I feel. Like I said,
I feel I live the present. And for me, this is the right things to do right now. Personally, I know some people can be worried or whatever,
but this is my life.
When I retire, I finished my coach license.
I could have been the director of my United.
I could have been like a third manager or whatever,
but I'm honest with myself.
It doesn't inspire me like the way I am inspired right now
to training every day for the MMA, you know?
And by the way, for those wondering, that video back in 2019, so this isn't the new thing that
you've been interested in. That video of you and Michael Van Den Page is from six years ago.
I did see Paul Pogba pay you a visit. Is he interested in this as well?
Listen, I think many people are interested in MMA, you know, it's tough and everyone
want to be tough and Paul came to training in Dubai and you know, he straight away said
Uncle Pat, I saw the new, please let me come in your training session.
Many people will come.
But at the end, my goal also is not just about me, is to open the door of different sportsmen.
Some people won't understand why he's playing football,
why he's coming to the MMA.
No, I don't have to prove anything to myself,
but it's to inspire people when they've been,
I don't know, working all their life
in this category of sport,
but they can do something else,
and they can be good also
or bad, you know, we will see. But that's the gate I want to open. Like you see Cristiano Ronaldo,
he's always attending when he's like a boxing fight in Saudi or whatever. It's true. The first
reaction of my friend was like, yeah, Patrice, the box, we will understand. But we know you are crazy,
but now you just confirmed you're
really mad. There was an incident when you were a member of Marseille with the fans and you showed
off your kicking skills. And that's where I was like, okay, I get it. Maybe he's going to be like
Mirko Krokop with the high kick. And you mentioned being crazy. You were a fiery guy, right?
You know, I'll be honest, Ariel is not pretending to be tough.
I always say I will never call myself a gangster or whatever, but I grew up in the street.
It's all about surviving. So fighting, it's a way to gain respect.
And that's the way I grew up. I don't know if you know I'm the only French player playing for the French national team.
I never do any academy. I never do all of that. It's from the street to the star.
If you read my book, you know, I grew up in the street, but like I say,
I will never be like, oh, I'm proud. I'm from the street. I'm a hard man. No, this was about
surviving. And yes, this episode, of course, I get eight months ban. It's not something I am proud of, but you can say a black or whatever.
When I was 17 and playing in Italy,
I was the only black person in Sicily.
I received banana.
When I was playing the monkey nose,
every time I've got the ball,
to be honest, this make me feel even more stronger.
So that racist card doesn't treat me.
The problem with that fan is
when he say, you know, when we back to Marseille, I'm going to cut the throat of your wife and your
kids, then I'm a human being. I know I have to be an example for the kids, but that I kick, you know,

It's not that old athlete.
Oh, I would say I think I'm a different person. To be honest,
if you read my book, I opened myself a lot about some trauma during my childhood, what happened to
myself. So I am more calm, but I still have that dark side, you know, inside me that fire. That's
why every time, you know, I am with my brother when I go to play, I am with people I trust because it's not like I want to fight, but I enjoy the fight. Being
beat or beating someone, I know it's not nice saying that, but I like the adrenaline. So
I think since I retired, I travel a lot. You know, I'm an entrepreneur, businessman, an
investor, entertain sometimes in social media. I feel like since I retired, I'm an entrepreneur, businessman, an investor, entertain sometime in social media.
I feel like since I retired, I'm looking for an adrenaline and I can't find it. And I feel now,
I find it every single day showing up training. Trust me, when I'm in the shower,
sometimes I'm like, wow, Patrice, this is real. This is no joke. But I'm already winning because for myself
after retired from football, looking for a new adrenaline,
I get it with the MMA at the moment.
When you were playing, were you thinking that
you would do something like this?
Were you following the fight sports and interested in it?
I didn't even think I would be in social media.
I was someone against, like I say,
I never think about the past
because you can live with regrets.
I never think about the future
because you can live with anxiety and stress.
I'm always living the present.
And I always say in my speech, you know,
of like, for example, in between my training,
I was at the token 29 and someone asked me the same question.
Did you prepare your aftercareer?
No, I have no plan B.
You know, sometime when you start at school or whatever, they always say you need a plan B.
No, because if I have a plan B, I already have an excuse to fail on my plan A.
So I put all my focus on my plan A.
It won't work every time.
You know, sometime I remember my school teacher,
what you will become.
And I say, I want to be a football player
in front of everyone.
She say like, football player is not a job.
And she was laughing and all my friend were laughing.
And she saying 500 kids, they're going to pick one kids.
Do you think it's going to be yourself, Mr. Evra?
I say, yes.
And everyone was laughing.
But at the end, it's not like I want to
take a revenge against that French teacher I mean maybe a little bit but I want her to tell those
things to kids. Kids have to dream big but you have to be ready to make the sacrifice and the
problem with this new generation they want everything fast. I remember my first son he said I want to
play football I said okay let's go for a run no no where's, okay, let's go for a run. No, no, where's the ball? No, let's go for a run. No, then you don't want to play football.
You know, that's why I start from scratch at the MMA
because I need to understand the discipline.
I'm new, I don't come and say, oh, I'm a big athlete.
No, this is a completely different world,
but it's something my brain is really attracted
because I love to learn every kind of sport,
any kind of business or whatsoever.
Which aspect of the MMA game
are you enjoying right now the most?
There's the grappling, the striking, the wrestling,
kickboxing, Muay Thai, there's so many different components.

No, no, no, I'm just curious.
There's so much intrigue surrounding this.
I will tell you honestly, Ariel,
I'm really like comfortable in my high kick.
What I'm trying, what I'm working now is more, you know,
my defense, my posture when you put a jab
to make sure you come back close,
not like opening too much.
And of course my sparring partner is amazing
on the wrestling, on the grabbing. So we push on that. And to be fair, it's there when I'm
losing more energy, there when I, after the training, my arms, I'm like, wow, to be honest,
in the morning is more about kick, the technique, the punch and whatsoever. Then in the afternoon
is more like wrestling and grabbing. And yeah, I, I enjoy both.
Why I enjoy the game because I'm comfortable.
Why I enjoy the wrestling and the grabbing because I'm suffering and
it's new for me and I need to learn.
When do you think you'll find out your opponent?
Uh, to be honest, it's time.
I think we are, you don't mind.

and call Kedu or my coach and say, guys.

I'm not trying to hide anything.
I think they're talking with many different people.
Sometimes maybe it will happen.

because I always say I don't need Man United.

playing for the badge, playing for the fan, playing for the history. I always say when I was wearing this shirt, I was carrying the history, you know,
thinking about people like, you know, Bobby Charlton, Josh, the best or whatsoever. I was
like, I can't count on that. I couldn't disappoint that. But like I said, now you got all the social
media before we were athletes. So we were just focused like on playing football.
Now they are like brands, they are like rapper,
they are fashion designer, politician,
they got everything, too much distraction,
it's become more a business.
So that's why I don't blame them.
Sometimes I see my old teammate going harsh on them,
but we didn't have that.
And they have to deal with all of that.
So it's not easy, but yeah, to come back to Man United,
yes, we are having a tough time.
It's more than 10 years now, but history never die.
Do you think you'll ever come back in some capacity?
They will, they will, they will.
No, you come back for them.
You come back to do something with them.
I think the love I've got for United,
the love I've got for the people there, the Mancunian,
I will.
I think they deserve that
because the passion I've got will never die.
But like I say, in my life, I don't plan it.

I can go and start you know coaching or whatever they were like really open you know to see me back back home
but today I'm more happy than when I used to play like I will give you a silly example uh
sometime I do some crazy video and I see a comment a guy say uh Patrice my dad just passed away but
watching one of your video make me smile.
This is more important than winning the Premier League
and the Champions League.
I think I'm more like, I want to give back
to the community now.
I receive so much, I feel so blessed and grateful.
Then giving back, that's what make me happy.
My mom always tell me, more you give, more you receive.
So I am in this philosophy.
And of course, in one moment, I will have to give back to the fan of United
what they gave me when I was tired,
the last minute pushing me and come back
and bringing back that discipline,
that passion, that love of the game.

I gotta say, I don't know what to expect,
because again, we don't see a lot of superstar athletes
crossing over to MMA, but like he sees-

For PFL, high level boxer crossing over.
Somebody from a completely unrelated combat sport,
yeah, that's the rarest of the rare.
This is one of one type stuff.
And what's interesting about it is,
if you are a former soccer player,
MMA is probably, because of the kicks,
because of the legs, because of the strength,
I could see why boxing would be good.
Conditioning cardio, definitely, right?
Gotta have that.

Like, I don't know how he's ultimately gonna do,
but you believe that he's giving every single ounce
of himself to it, which is all you could ask.

And honestly, kudos to the PFL for putting this together.
These are the kinds of things that will get you noticed.
I mean if you look up Patrice Evra right now on Google News, the outlets that we're talking
about it that have reported on it, that have posted things on it, it's every mainstream
outlet under the sun and outlets that don't usually talk about these sorts of things. So pretty
big deal for the PFL and they've always done big business in Paris. I mean
they've done big business in a lot of spots in Europe. Paris is probably their
best market right now. I mean I think it was a couple years ago where we said
that a PFL Europe crowd was the crowd of the year. And so again, the juxtaposition between the product in Europe and the product here in America.
And it goes back to just put on fun fights.
Don't worry about seasons, standings, tournaments, this, that, and the other.
Just put on fun fights.
And this is an example of that.
A little something for everyone.
Not everyone's going to love this sort of thing,
but there's gonna be intrigue.
And because a lot of people, you know,
haven't crossed over into MMA as opposed to boxing,
I don't know if this is gonna be the beginning
of some sort of trend in Europe.
I think most quote unquote celebrities, influencers
would probably think to go to boxing first because
there's just a little less to worry about. This is interesting. This is very
interesting. All right, in a matter of moments we're going to be joined by
another fascinating human being, the great Eddie Hall, who we had on the
program just a couple of weeks ago. This was before his fight against Mariusz Pudzianowski that was at KSW 105 this past Saturday in Poland.
There was a lot of intrigue because he of course is a former 2017 World Strongman winner,
multiple-time Britain's Strongest Man, five-time, six-time UK Strongest Man,
and of course we know about Marius's incredible
career as well. So this was a real you know world's collide moment and he went
out there and and did the job and did it in very quick and impressive fashion. He
won in 30 seconds via TKO. Let us say hello once again to the great Eddie Hall
who is kind enough to join us to recap it all. Hello, Eddie, how are you?
Hey buddy, yeah, I'm good, mate, how are you?
I appreciate you joining us this time in the spaceship.
The familiar spot, I've seen this before in other interviews,
so very cool to have you here.
By the way, what is that?
Is that a light on top of you there?
Is the chair going over your head?
Yeah, it is.
It's like a scorpion chair.
So the monitors actually hang in front of me. Wow. And then it's got a scorpion chair so the monitor is actually hanging in front of
me and then it's got like scorpion feet either side, it's pretty cool.
This is amazing, alright well well done and congratulations on the win, we're a couple
days removed now, just kind of at the top of things, how do you feel about what transpired
Saturday in Poland?
Yeah, I mean obviously to get the win was, um, absolutely amazing, you know, uh, very
first time stepping into the octagon.
And of course the nerves were absolutely through the roof, as you can imagine.
But, um, yeah, I managed to step in and do the business.
Uh, you've competed on, on many big stages.
These nerves different greater than when you're competing in Strongman or
in your other combat sports ventures?
Um, I would say the nerves are probably a little bit more because it's a fight.
You know, I think, you know, you go into competition and you sort of have that,
um, control, you know, you, you sort of know the outcome. You go into Strongman, you know, you sort of know the outcome.
You go into strongman, you know, you're going to do 10 reps with that weight.
You know, you're going to do 20 meters of that truck.
But we're fighting, you don't know the outcome.
And that, of course, triggers that fight or flight scenario a little bit more.
What was your as we build up to the fight, like your vibe throughout the week,
your interactions with him, just gearing up for that date for that walk. How are you feeling throughout the week, your interactions with him, just gearing up for that date for
that walk.
How are you feeling throughout the week?
I was actually really calm throughout the whole week.
I landed in Poland on Tuesday, did press conferences and interviews and everything and just really
calm throughout the week.
Honestly the nerves didn't set in, I would say until about half an hour before the fight.
And then, you know, you, the, the, the runners are sort of
coming in at the dressing room and like, right, you've got
two more fights to go and then 10 minutes ago, one more fight
to go and then the nerves are ramping up, but up until then
pretty, pretty cool.
I'm sure you thought of the fight you envisioned.
Did you ever think that it would end that quickly?
No, not in a, not in a million years.
I genuinely was, I convinced myself
it was gonna go the full eight minutes.
So that's two four minute rounds.
I was convinced it was gonna go the full four minute rounds.
Yeah.
I mean, obviously there's not a lot of time to think,
but I mean, I described it as you kind of throwing him
with all due respect, like a rag doll.
It was just unbelievable to see someone
throw Marius like that.
When you saw that you were able to overpower him like that,
what are you thinking in that moment?
It was a bit of a weird one because, as I say,
I was more than willing to stand in exchange with Marius
for two four-minute rounds.
But when you catch somebody and you can see it in their eyes
that they're sort of losing
consciousness and that's what happened.
It was a one, two and I sort of missed the two and then went back in for a second two
and caught him right in the cheek, right in the square, you know, in the front of the
face.
And I saw his eyes roll a little bit.
So I was just like right this is my
time just pounce uh that could have happened after four minutes you know but uh it happened
15 seconds 10 seconds into the fight um and it was just just just crazy you know because
you sort of see red yeah you just know you've got to give it a hundred percent aggression when
someone gets those eyes rolls eyes rolls in the back of the head you've've got to give it a hundred percent aggression. When someone gets those eyes rolls, I eyes rolls in the back of the head, you've just got to finish them off.
You've got to keep that pressure on constantly because if they get
conscious this again, then you're back to square one.
No, I think I saw in the aftermath that you thought maybe you broke your hand
in one of the exchanges. Is that accurate?
Um, I didn't break my hand. Okay. Look, luckily, but yeah.
And the medic after they were But yeah, in the medic, after they were unwrapping my hand,
and it was just really throbbing as they were doing it.
And then when they took it off my hand,
it was absolutely bloomed.
But it's all gone down now.
It must've just been some initial swelling,
perhaps a very, very small fracture of some sort.
But in general, the grips come back.
I don't feel like I can go back in the ring tomorrow. The final exchange there has obviously been talked about. I've seen you weigh in on it.
I've seen Marius weigh in and it's the shots to the back of the head. This is all very tough
because we've seen it in MMA over the years. So many times it happened to Brock Lesnar. When
someone is sort of scrambling, it's very hard to aim and if someone's moving while you're doing,
and so if it's not malicious, if it doesn't seem intentional, often it is something that the referee doesn't call.
I did see you sort of apologize for it saying it wasn't your intention.
Looking back now, how do you feel about that final sequence?
You know, if I could go back in time and not hit the back of his head, I would.
I would say I massively regret it, but it just happened so fast. You know, it's my first fight. You're trying
to hit the front of his face. He's turning his head. He's giving the back of his head
to you. It is just one of those things. And as I say, I, I, I hold my hands up. It happened.
One shot is too many to the back of the head. Um, so, you know, nevermind two or three.
So I just hold my hands up, massively apologize. I think the referee, you know, was just a bit, it just
happened so fast. Um, but he did, he told me off, I think when it was on the ground,
I gave him one to the side of his head, one to the back of his head. And then as I landed
that, that one of the back of his head, the referee was pointing, I was like, right, okay.
Yep. Side of the face. So face. So it just wasn't intentional.
As I say, if I could go back in time and not do it, I would.
I massively apologize to Marius and the fight community
for doing so, cause I don't condone hitting
to the back of the head, it is dangerous.
Did you have a chance to speak to him in the back
about all this?
No, as I say, it was a bit of a whirlwind after all the,
all the media are coming in and, but you know, I, I I say, it was a bit of a whirlwind after all the media are coming in.
But, you know, I sort of, I bowed to Marius after the fight in front of him.
He's one of my heroes.
He's one of the strongest man five times.
He's someone I grew up watching in Strongman.
And for him to come in at 48 years of age and fight me at 37 was, it was, it was a dangerous fight and I knew that and
he knew that.
So big props to Marius and as I say at the end I stooped and bowed and thanked him and
thanked him for the opportunity and give him praise because he deserves it.
There was obviously a big size difference between the two of you.
I do believe you weighed in at approximately 334 pounds,
that is, and he was around 267.
Were you at all surprised that he was 267,
that he didn't try to be bigger to try to match your size?
Yeah, I was a little bit.
I thought that he would put a bit of bulk on
to sort of match my weight.
But having spoken to the Polish team,
he basically comes in at 121 kilo or 265 every single fight.
So he never really changes his weight.
And to be honest, the fact that he sort of stood his ground
with the four minute rounds told me he was gonna try
and outdo me with the cardio side.
So that probably explains why I didn't put weight on.
He was sticking to the cardio game. Did you lose approximately 40 pounds in this training camp?
so I lost
Around about 12 kilo in total. Okay, I think I think in pounds that close to 30 pounds
Okay, and and was that a conscious decision on your part or just sort of in the flow of the training camp? I
Think because the training camp? I think
because the training ramped up so much as I say I went from training I think
eight weeks out from the fight I went from training two minute rounds to four
minute rounds so I essentially doubled my training camp you know and I think
from that day forward is when the weight just fell off me so I didn't really have
a choice you know you're training that training that hard, the weight just falls off.
I saw when you posted the video on your Instagram,
you know, a lot of big names from the world of fighting,
giving you props, the likes of Demetrius Johnson
and Arnold Allen and John Wayne Parr, Rico Verhoeven.
I know you may know some of these people,
but to kind of get that love from fighters
who do this day in and day out,
how did that make you feel?
Yeah, it felt great.
You know, I've had some good phone calls.
Rico video FaceTime me, had a good conversation with him.
As I said, I've had lots of praise from, you know,
the community themselves, Tom Aspin also.
It's been pretty cool, you know,
because it was a big question mark
how this fight was gonna to get, be accepted
in the, in the fight world, especially the MMA world.
And, um, it goes to show that people, people love it.
You know, people love the, people want to see the title fights.
People want to see the John Jones versus Tom Aspinal, but people also
want to see the freak fights.
And I think there is a big scene for it.
And, uh, I think maybe me doing what I've done today is, is maybe opened a few
doors and, um, I don't know where it's going to go, but I'm keeping my toe in.
I'm going to keep little bits of training going and, um, just basically see where
it goes.
I I'm keen to continue anyway.
And whether that be one V ones or two V ones or three V ones, yeah, maybe me
teaming up with someone and going two V4.
I don't know, but I just want to keep this hype going.
I'm enjoying it.
More on that in a moment.
Could I just ask like what one of my sort of goals,
bucket list items is to attend a KSW event?
I love the production.
I love the pageantry and everything like that.
And it seemed like such a big deal.
It seemed really fun from afar watching the event
and the buildup last week.
What was your experience like fighting for them?
It was good.
It was my first professional fight within a,
what's the right word, a federation.
And the production value was amazing. You got the big screens, a federation. Yeah. And the production was, the production value was amazing.
You know, you've got the big screens, you've got the crowd, you've got all the,
all the behind the scenes production and leading up to the event.
I thought it was absolutely phenomenal.
The tough thing for me was obviously I was the, you know, being an Englishman.
And it was just tough to get stuff sorted for me, you know, like,
like before the fight, I was, I was trying to get my hands wrapped and they came to me like, I don't know, half an hour before
my fight, oh, sorry, we forgot about you. And I was just, you know, that stuff like that, it's
just like, it just, it, it pulls you down a bit, you know? And maybe that was just the, the, the,
the language barrier that made that happen. But it was just a flat that made me a bit, you know, and maybe that was just the language barrier that made that happen.
But it was just a flat that made me a bit like, ah, this is pissing me off.
This is, you know, maybe I should have done this somewhere else.
But KSW in general, amazing Federation and the fights they put on the production just
phenomenal.
Uh, one fight deal with them?
Um, no, there was a two fight deal.
So the second fight is meant to be a rematch with Marius Ponoski, potentially in November.
But we've got to be realistic about it.
I think that fight was a big eye opener for a lot of people and probably Marius as well.
So maybe a bit off a bit more than he could chew
And and I don't know if that rematch is gonna happen. Would it be fair to say you're not very interested in it? I
Would be interested in it it would have to be the two-minute rounds
I wouldn't agree to the four-minute rounds stuff again because it just made my camp
So unbearable.
Like the training for four minute rounds,
it just became so miserable for me.
So yeah, if it was to happen again,
it would have to be the two minute rounds.
And I'd happily fight Marius again
and make it even more of an explosion.
You're the A-side now, you call the shots.
Oh yeah, exactly.
I think the reigning champ
and that was something I sort of stipulated
before this event.
I said, when draw or lose,
that rematch has got to be two minute rounds
because he got his way
and now I want to get my way for the second fight.
By the way, the size of the gloves,
we talked about it beforehand.
What did you end up going with?
Yeah, so I ended up, I tried the double XL before the fight. They were way too small
They made me the 4 XL and they were just so they fit my hand perfectly
But the padding was almost double what the double XL was it was like I was wearing a boxing glove
So I just manned up and put the double XL on Wow tight as hell
But as you can see,
the padding is the same as Marius.
But honestly, this four XL glove, they made me,
I might've been wearing a 12 ounce boxing glove.
It was ridiculous.
Okay.
And by the way, what happened at the very beginning?
It seemed like you were drinking water
and it was like unclear,
or maybe you were unclear as to when the fight was starting.
What happened there?
Yeah, well, you know, they got us both in the cage
and I thought, right, the ref's gonna bring us
to the center any second now.
I'll get a quick sip of water before that
because I just had a bit of a dry mouth.
And I didn't know, apparently when you're both in the cage,
you must be ready to fight.
So I literally turned around from having me sip of water
and it was a bit surreal.
So I turned around and the referee went fight.
And I was like, what? Seriously? Okay. And just touch gloves and off we went. It was
a bit, it was very surreal for me because I thought they would have us in the center
of the ring. They would go over a few of the rules. You know, the touch your balls with
the back of the hand and touch gloves and, and, and, and off you go. Just get me camera
to focus. Yeah. Yeah. that was funky. What just happened
Oh does this sometimes is it coming back? Come on?
Come on

Yeah, but I mean it didn't seem to bother you all that much because you you disposed of him some 30 seconds later
Your name has come up a lot in the aftermath. What's going on with this Dylan Dannis thing?
Is this a real thing?
Well, Ms. Fitz mentioned this fight back in March.
They said it was in talks.
They said it was gonna happen,
but the weight difference couldn't make it.
I never got a part of that conversation, you know?
So they put this thing out on Instagram
saying it nearly happened.
Well, if it nearly happened, it was news to me
because I was never a part of any conversations
to fight Dylan Danis.
And then I saw that and I was like, right, okay, you know,
let's go for it.
And then the Marius fight, there's been a lot of talk of it.
And I would love to take that fight.
I think, and I think that's exactly
what this freak fighting is. It's like someone with zero experience coming in and fighting
a world champion and Dylan Danes may not be a good striker, but he is one of, if not the
best in the world at Jiu Jitsu. And you you put a world champion jujitsu against a 150 kilo
ex-world strongest man what happens and i think that is entertainment i think that is something
people want to see so misfits ksw whoever make that fight happen i want to i want to
i want to rip dylan danis his arms and legs off his torso.
Oh dear. Okay. What about Ben Rothwell? I saw him, uh, mentioned that he wanted to fight
you. Are you interested in that? He's the BKFC heavyweight champion.
Oh, okay. No, man. I mean, that is a hard bastard, isn't it? Do you want to get in the
ring with the bare knuckle heavyweight champion of the world. Fuck, you know, that is,
that is a dangerous fight. And somebody messaged me about him and I sort of looked him up and I was,
I was, as I was watching his fights, I was like, Oh my God, this man's fucking brutal.
So that is not particularly a fight I want to take,
but I guess if the money is right, anything can happen. So everyone's kind of coming out of the woodworks here.
Is there, if like, if you could,
if you could script your next fight, like, okay,
who it is, who's it against, where, under which umbrella,
what is the ideal scenario for you and when?
I mean, ideal scenario would be the Marius rematch.
Okay.
Seconded in that, I would say that Dylan Danis
would be a great fight.
Again, just because it'd just be fun to get in there
with a world champion who has publicly said he would beat me.
So let's find out if you think you can beat me,
I think I can beat you.
Let's find out. And I think that beat me. I think I can beat you. Let's, let's find out.
And I think that would could lead on to a lot of interesting things. Something that does excite me is the, the two V one fights. I do. I look like when I did that two V one fight back in June,
July last year, I was in my element. Like I absolutely love that. And it's that unknown. Like people, it's all right to say in hindsight after it's happened.
But taking that to be one fight was dangerous.
Like you've got two arms, two legs, you've got two sets of lungs and hearts.
It's it's there might not be the same weight, but it's double the double the
trouble and that was that was a that was a dangerous fight for me to take.
And I don't think there's a lot of men on the planet
that would take that fight.
So I think the TV one has got good legs.
I think people wanna see it.
I think people wanna see two good fighters
go up against a 150, 160 kilo will strongest man
and see what happens.
Martin Levendofsky, the founder of KSW has talked about you versus Francis and Ghanu does this interest you?

I mean again a bit like that Ben Rothwell, yeah
It's it you're basically chucking me in with the wolves do yeah. Yeah
I
Would need a bit of time. I would need a bit of time.
I would need a lot of training and it would have to be a lot of money.
But I think with anything in life, if the money is right, I would take it.
And, uh, the only way I'd fight Francis and Gano would be a hell of a training
camp, I'd probably want a good six to nine months of training with top
level athletes, uh, in top camps.
And yeah, the money would have to be good because you're literally
putting your life on the line.
Um, and I think the fun thing about that, look, Francis and Gano out classes
me in every single way possible in the fight world. But it's that unknown.
It's that if I catch him, if I throw that right hand
and it just gets him on the end of the chin,
it can happen.
It's that unknown.
So, you know, I wouldn't be going in thinking
I've got zero chance,
but it'd have to be a big money incentive for me to do that
and put my, literally put my life on the line
going in the ring with someone like Gunganu.
By the way, just a couple more,
any interest in pro wrestling?
I feel like you would be an incredible asset
to the world of pro wrestling.
I've done a little bit of amateur wrestling,
and at some point there was some very small conversations
with the WWE, you know,
after I won the Will Strongest Man,
but it just didn't quite fit, you know, the money won the Will Strongest Man, but it just didn't quite fit.
You know, the money versus the workload just wasn't quite there. But again, you know, maybe
me going in and doing sort of a bit like Tyson Fury and Mike Tyson and people have done,
Floyd Mayweather, just go in and do appearances.
I'd love to do that,
but I think I'd be quite good as a wrestler.
Don't get me wrong,
I don't think I'd be capable of doing
the back flips off the ropes or anything,
but I've done a little bit of amateur wrestling
and it's doable for me and it's fun.
I think you'd be perfect.
I also think you'd be beloved in Japan.
You in Japan would be a huge deal.
Any interest from them?
I feel like you and Ryzen for that promotion there,
not trying to take you away from KSW,
maybe they could work together.
They adore characters like you over there.
Yeah, I mean, look, I've had no conversations yet,
but that would be the most sensible thing for me to do
is to go to these federations and lap up.
You go and entertain billions of people out in Japan and China and wherever else,
and you make money and you make big money and that's a win-win.
Realistically, when do you think we see you fight again?
Well, I'm dubbed to do an arm wrestle in August.
So I'm arm wrestling this, um, another strongman in August, um, which I enjoy.
I really enjoy the arm wrestling and it's, it's quite easy to train for.
So you know, it takes sort of 20, 30 minutes a day to train for, and I can still do my
gym work and do my fight training.
So I guess, you know, if we did a camp from August,
we're talking September, October, November,
maybe November, end of November, December,
something like that, so we'll just have to wait and see.
By the way, how do you train for arm wrestling?
What does that 20, 30 minute training session look like?
It's very boring.
It's literally, you get cables,
you get these weird and wonderful handles,
and it's just tiny little movements.
It's just little bit, you do like a hundred reps of this,
you do a hundred reps of that,
you do a hundred reps of this.
It's just weird and wonderful stuff.
It hurts like hell,
but you just gotta make your arm sort of bulletproof.
Oh my gosh.

Could a hundred men beat up, essentially kill one gorilla?
Ooh, that's a great question.

Let me just make sense of that. Okay. Okay. Because I've seen gorillas in person in like
close up scenarios and they are scary, like scary things. Weight of an adult silverback?
Sure. Biggest one? Weight of an adult silverback. Okay. So an adult silverback. Sure. Bigger. Yeah. One weight of an adult silverback. Okay. So an
adult silverback weighs between 300 and 500 pounds. So a hundred men. I would say like
forget me now me as a prime strongman, like I was 430 pounds I genuinely think two I've not won I think
one would get more to death but I think two Eddie Hulls at the prime with a
combined weight of 860 pounds would dominate a gorilla you would just just
pin it down and just hammer fist it to death I think two big ideals would do
the job okay so that was actually go to be my next question after that the one
I was more interested in how many Eddie Hulls would do the job. Okay, so that was actually going to be my next question. After that, the one I was more interested in,
how many Eddie Halls would beat up the gorilla?
I thought you were going to say maybe like five, six,
seven, eight, nine, 10.
You're saying just two.

that Rampage alluded to was,

Over the past month, Rashad Evans announced as the franchise owner for the Miami team Frank Meir owner of Las Vegas
rampage owner of the OC
That's Orange County and Henry Cejudo owner of the Scottsdale team. They're looking to expand
Have more teams ownership franchises and
As of right now they do remain the only promotion who offers all athletes under multi-flight contracts
health insurance and shares in the company and
So on this May 2nd, they'll be having UFL six by the way in addition to those
to
Star studded captains and all that, they will have Nathan
Diaz, Holly Holm, Anthony Pettis, Frank Muir, and Rashad Evans on Friday.
So no MMA this Friday.

And it's interesting because, like I said, MMA is in an interesting spot right now.
There aren't a lot of competitors, a lot of people doing things outside of the UFC orbit.
Perhaps they could be the ones.
And so without further ado, let us say hello to the founder of the UFL to learn more about the United Fight League.

Hello Harrison, how are you?
Hey, hey, thanks for having me.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't know how I follow up
that interview with Rampage.
We're all cracking up over here.
I know there's a couple clips in there that go viral.
Yes, it's always like that, but don't worry,
we're not expecting that same type of content out of you, so don't worry.
It's not easy following Rampage, but it is great to have you on.
And in fact, I think this is the second time that we spoke, because I alluded to the conversation
where he called me on the spot.
I think it was right after we had Darren Owen of the GFL on, and you were telling me like,
yo, show us some love.
We're doing it.
We've actually put on events.
And so I told you we'd have you on. Here you are just a couple days before the event and we appreciate it. Hey,
I appreciate you. Yeah, we felt, we felt, um, how do we get some of that love? GFL, I know you
probably got a little bit of a flak, people thinking you give them too much love, but I can,
I can assure your whole audience. You were skeptical. You were telling me and Rampage that night,
you definitely weren't trying to pad anybody's credibility.
So hopefully I can put some of that to rest.
But you guys did have a very unique conversation
answering at 11 p.m. at night.
Your audience probably doesn't realize
how deep your guys' love actually is.
I can't lie.
I adore that man.
I adore that man.
I adore that man.
And it was great to get the unexpected call.
You always have to be careful with Rampage.
You don't know if he's streaming,
if he's on a podcast or something when he calls you.
So you have to be on your Ps and Qs.
But I want to ask you about UFL.
When did this all start for you?
And why did it start?
Why did you start this?
So starting as an MMA enthusiast,
a wannabe fighter myself,
I got engaged young and the wife said,
this is cool and all, you wanting to be a fighter,
but I don't know if you are as good as you think you are,
so let's go the business route.
And I'm glad she did,
because we were blessed to have some success in the business
world. But being able to circle back to the MMA passion in 2021 is when I met Frank Mir.
And that was a big day for me. He was a legend, a hero that I looked up to during my wannabe days.
And he was just telling me some of his horror stories of coming out in the
UFC and the MMA world when it was on its up and coming and what does he have to show for
it financially, physically and as an entrepreneur, I heard those belly aches, those frustrations
that all of us MMA audiences have.
And I heard challenge and I said challenge accepted and Frank and Tito and Rampage, they
said, we've heard this before a million times from promoters that want to come in, make
a bang and be the next Dana White and try to be, you know, a competitor to UFC.
And that was a double challenge.
I said challenge accepted again. So
I'm definitely not coming out to try to be a UFC competitor. We're not trying to impress
anybody with multi-million dollar purses that seem to not ever be able to come to fruition.
We're building this from the ground up with up and coming fighters and fighters who want to redeem their records.
Maybe they had a good stint in the UFC for a while and they want to be a part of something
that's growing.
So we're civic pride.
I know you're not a big team versus team fan.
You think you even said so on that call.
It's kind of perverted right now with the whole GFL thing. I feel dumb
even talking about it, but we are doing it. And we have seen firsthand at our last UFL
event where it was Henry Cejudo versus Frank Mir, Team Vegas versus Team Scottsdale. And
that team versus team element really did provide not only the fighters, that little extra oomph to, you know, take some risks,
try to finish a fight quicker to get those extra points for that $50,000 bonus, but it
also provided the audience who didn't know a lot of these fighters before the event to
be able to be involved without them having to know the fighters.
They know that Team Scottsdale is wearing their cities
brand and they want them to win.
And so it added that audience investment
that I know can be possible everywhere.
And so, all right, so there is,
I think that there is a huge opening for a promotion
like yours to really make some noise.
What I do like about what you're doing
is you're not trying to run before you walk.
And what I mean by that is you're starting slow.
I think last year only two events.
This is your first event of 2025.
You just signed this deal with Vice.
In 2025, let's say, this is UFL6.
How many events ideally would you like to put on?
So we have four scheduled this year. We have UFL six Friday.
We have UFL seven, which is actually Rampage Jackson
versus Rashad Evans, team Miami in Orange County,
which is going to be August 15th, 16th weekend.
And then we actually have two more franchises that are
weighted to be announced. And then when we have those two teams finalized,
we'll have an October event and then a December event. And what that is, is to
basically show the teams that have all six teams total that have joined forces
for this league. And then in 2026, we roll out our whole regular season,
the playoffs, the championship.
And like I said, I feel freaking weird saying this
because it sounds way too GFLE,
but just watch, we're doing it.
We don't have to say when or if,
but so in 2026, we're gonna have 16 events.
And you're absolutely right.
We laid the foundation. We showed that we
provide health insurance to our fighters when it's at the league level. We had our Grand
Prix where we were able to show the quality of production that we can put on it and the
treatment that we give to our fighters. And now we're rolling out the team versus team,
which Rampage was frustrated that I took this long to do because that was always phase two.
But phase one was really to be able to show that framework of what we can do.
And that was the crawling phase.
Now we're walking and I think next year with our new broadcast partners, it's the run phase.
And we're excited to, you know, we're not going to change the MMA world overnight.
We're not trying to come out with billion dollar promises,
but we're excited to bring a whole new element
to not only the fans, but the fighters,
and definitely the betting odds.
We have some cool sports betting platforms
that are realizing the differences that we can create
with team betting and with parlayles that is really getting exciting.
Okay, so why am I wrong, Harrison,
when I say like, oh, the team concept doesn't work in MMA,
why do you think it's right?
Why do you think it will succeed for you?
So my goal growing up forever was owning the Phoenix Suns.
I'm a basketball fan and I am loyal to the Phoenix Suns.
I'm not loyal to the Steve Nash's, to the Charles Barkley.
I love them when they're on my team,
but the brand of the Phoenix Suns
was what I always wanted to be in charge of.
I wanted to help them get their first
NBA final championship trophy.
And so I've always seen how the team versus team element
survives the, um, you know, the, the time, the golden area, the
golden era of MMA, we all talked about, you know, the rampage, the
Chuck Liddell, I see UFC kind of struggling right now to stay
exciting when fighters come and go,
and now the brand is bigger than these fighters,
we need that longevity of excitement.
I think being able to have franchises
that people fall in love with
and can support through the ends of time,
I think that solves that.
By the way, the Suns were up for sale not that long ago.
Matt Ishbia ended up buying them.
Why didn't you?
I was one of the minority group to throw in the hat.
I wanted to, but I definitely wasn't ready
to take it all down myself.
I'm never gonna try to act like I'm richer than I am,
but Ishbia had the pockets and he was a little bit
of a cleaner ownership
group to make the offer.
And he honestly was the right person to do it.
He was a fan first.
So to be able to come in and lose money to get some stars, to try to get that championship,
he was the knight in shining armor that I wanted to be.
Robert Sarver was an owner that everybody kind of would have looked,
anybody who filled his shoes would have looked great.
I wanted that to be me, but just wasn't the right time.
So instead of owning an NBA franchise,
why not own the MMA league
that everybody can enjoy different franchises with?
Could I ask, I know you also are the founder of F3 Energy.
We see the cans over there and the logo.
This is somewhat of a blunt question,
but like your day to day, where did you make your money?
Where did you come from?
It is a weird world.
I actually came from a totally different business background.
I have an older sister with severe autism,
so growing up with her I saw a need from a totally different business background. I have an older sister with severe autism.
So growing up with her,
I saw a need to build a different opportunity
for individuals with cognitive disabilities.
So I started with starting outpatient clinics
for cognitive disabilities to private schools
for students with autism, to occupational therapy,
transition to a completely different world
than an MMA promotion or an
energy drink company. But that company, Lexington Services, has really matured it in a way where
I've been able to turn it over to other partners to run and grow. And now I can focus on a different
passion project with MMA. And it's been fun though to see those worlds kind of collide in the
F3 world because as an athlete growing up, I abused energy drinks. I love energy. And
so I would drink energy drinks and I had a heart attack at 19 years old. So realizing
the dangers of stimulants and being careful what to put
in your body, I wanted to have a different solution to that, but I never had the platform
to start an energy drink. I can't sell that just to a bunch of business individuals or
educators with my school. But when we started UFL, everybody goes after the sponsors of
energy drinks and whatnot. And of course, being a new promotion, they weren't offering
us big money, if anything at all. And so I just wanted to double down on our efforts
of what we're building. And it allowed me to pursue what I wanted to do with a better
energy drink, where not only are we, you know,
getting our caffeine from a little bit of a cleaner energy source like green tea derivative
caffeine and the B12s and everything else that people are starting to lean into, my mental and
behavioral background really wanted me to add things, new tropics like ginkgo biloba,
L-thienine, ginseng pan-axe that when Rampage
was on with Joe Rogan, he was able to really see and acknowledge the difference in our
brand.
Because when you stimulate your body, unfortunately, you are kind of compromising your mental
acuity and how quickly your brain processes.
When you stimulate your body, emotions go up, rationale goes down, and I didn't,
I couldn't keep doing that as a business owner.
So I'm excited to have F3 as its own standalone business
really make a splash in its functional beverage industry.
And so, all right, so you have the plans
for the events this year, and then massive plans next year. How long is the VICE
deal for? Does it cover all of these events? 20 or so, right? Because you said 16 next year
and four this year, right? No, 16 next year. Did you say 16? So no, I said 16, one six next year
and four this year. So that's 20 events in the next, you know, two years, year and a half really,
because we're almost halfway done. Are they all gonna be on Vice?
So through 2025, we're on Vice.
Okay.
And I'm a big manifestation guy.
I love Vice, I love what we're building,
but they would be the first to admit
that they're new to the live space world.
We wanna help them grow their Vice Sports platform,
and I think we definitely can.
But I know a lot of things are going on with ESPN and different UFC conversations that as we
not only have our six teams and franchises for 2026, in 2027 when we have 12 franchises and 12 teams, we're getting up to 54 events a year,
different regional shows of team versus team,
that it's gonna be really difficult
to be on one broadcast partner,
kind of like the NBA.
They have their regional networks,
they pick up Phoenix Suns versus Clippers
versus whoever else that,
then obviously they have their TNT,
well, their ESPN, ETNT. When you have that many
events you kind of got to get creative. So right now they're a great partner but depending on the
landscape you know what what streaming is doing if Netflix, if ESPN, whoever comes to the table
we're excited to be that solution to fill some voids that I think are gonna be, you know, vacuums that are being created right now
with all these movements that we stand to be
a pretty good looking dance partner for a broadcast partner.
When someone like Rampage says he's a team owner
and all that, what does that mean?
Like, is he investing in the team?
What does that actually require?
Right, so right now, our legends like Henry Cejudo,
Frank Mir, Rampage Jackson, Rashad Evans,
they are gifted about 25% ownership of these franchises
just for being the face.
You provide the credibility, you provide the excitement
for those franchises where fighters wanna follow your lead.
They've obviously accomplished many things that these fighters want to do for themselves. And so they didn't have to
put money into it. And honestly, we're building the franchise for them. We have five other people.
So we have two left and between Justin Gaethje, Holly Holm, Anthony Pettis, Nate Diaz for Sacramento or Stockton,
but Sacramento might be easier to explain, or Frankie Edgar.
They have to be a coach-based franchise owner that is from their town.
They have to be the face of, it's a team versus team.
They have to be that civic pride owner
that we build then the infrastructure around them.
The UFL pays for everything upfront.
We cover all the events.
We cover the base purses for the fighters,
the health insurance, the broadcast cost,
the insurances, everything it costs to put on the event.
UFL as the league covers, covers it.
But as we go in and build the franchise out for these legends, we get their local
sponsors, we get their local merge, their local branding, you know, ticket sales.
It's all a rev share model.
I hate saying that cause GFL kind of perverted that phrase, but when each event
gets put on and we cover the cost, it's a third, third,
third of the revenue. So the league will get 33%, team A will get 33%, and team B will get 33% of
every single event. Obviously, we have our corporate sponsors that will be paying a lot of those
be paying a lot of those overhead costs. So once these franchises are fully built out where we sign multi-fight deals for the fighters,
we're not having to do a lot of the matchmaking for the each franchise.
Like Rampage, he's been great.
He and Henry and Frank, they all have the fighters that they nominate right now.
But we do a lot of the matchmaking on the back end to make sure that the commissions
will actually agree to some of these match matchings.
But until we have the multi fight deals where they're locked in for a whole season, it's
kind of hard and it takes a lot of time where, you know, the Frank Mears, the Nate Diaz,
they're not going to have time to do this back end franchise building.
So we do that for them.
And in five years, you know, when it's really a built out franchise, they have their own
model, their own value, they're going to be able to decide if they want to stay on as
the face, hire their own GMs to recruit, you know, up and coming fighters, or if they want
to cash out of their 25%, sail off into the sunset with a good payday,
that's something that these legends
never were able to do with the UFC.
Can you imagine if they had some of the equity
in the exits that's happened with UFC since?
And that's something I want to solve,
is for these legends to have a future retirement plan
or stay active
without having to fight in the cage
and hope that purses come through like they're promised.
They have abilities to stay in the MMA game,
make good money and leave when they want to,
not when their bodies no longer will allow them
to do anything else.
End of 2026, where's the UFL?
Where do you wanna be?
End of 2026, we will have 12 franchises
and hopefully signed a long-term deal
with a broadcast partner that can either handle
all of the events or portions of the highlight events
and then regional broadcast partners
take on the lower value events.
And we have, hopefully, some of these studs
that stick around.
We've had three of our UFL champions get poached by UFC
the second they get a UFL belt,
where if we've been around long enough and the MMA world sees what we've built, I want that notoriety for our belt that, you know, they might not be so quick to jump to UFC.
I know that's a far-fetched idea. UFC is the Super Bowl. The notoriety for that belt will never go away. But if we can hold on to these fighters from when they start and build and they
become the John Jones is they become the Conor McGregor is the exciting people.
We don't want to keep losing them.
So we want, um, that notoriety where it's going to take time.
It's good.
It's going to take.
But when the, but when these fighters have equity, I don't, I don't, I
didn't even mention that. The fighters themselves have
equity in the company. Why would they go fight for other promotions when they help us build
something that they ultimately are going to have either liquidation events that help them with
retirement or they just keep their dividend bearing stock for the rest of their life.
I'm hoping over the next five years, it would be a hard decision for these fighters
to take a contract somewhere else.

Wild Horse, I know you are a big Ian Gary supporter,
but did this weekend's main event show
that Ian Gary is susceptible to be beaten
if someone just puts the pace on him and makes him fight?
Gary doesn't want to brawl, he wants to touch and point fight.
The fifth round, pretty concerning.
He was crawling to escape at one point
and fully went into flight mode. I don't think that's fair.
I think Carlos wanted to do that in the first round. I think Ian
allowed for that not to happen. He made a mistake and things got dicey and things
will get dicey in MMA fights. But I don't know, you tell me, Pizzi, you know him way
better than I do and you've been watching him longer than I is he a point fighter in your opinion no
not all really I think this kind of thing started with the UFC and I think
I talked to Rick about before I think was Rick or GC and we kind of said it's
probably something to do with the levels as well like look look at who this guy
is fighting and not for nothing look at what Pratchett's do it does to guys
usually like this is a guy who's melting dudes like for a year. He joined the UFC and he melted every person he fought. And then Ian put a style
on him for three rounds where he actually didn't know how to get him. He couldn't,
he couldn't get near him. Caught him eventually. I think it was at the end of the fourth round,
the first meaningful contact I saw. And there was a big reaction, but look at what usually
happens when Pratchett's
hits guys it's over the fight is over and I think he did a very good job of describing the situation
from his point of view when he was on your show and if you went if you go back and watch it and
I did go back and watch it after I saw Ian speaking he doesn't sit in a position for a second
that's not a guy that's completely gone I think he I think it would be completely fair to say he was close
to being finished, but the reason why he didn't get finished is because he was with it. He kept
moving. He didn't let Pratchett settle. He didn't let him get a good vantage point to hit him with
a big shot that could have ended the fight. Maybe it was just three punches away, but he couldn't
get the three punches in. And that's important when you're factoring in like how did this fight
go for Ingar? I also don't think we tend to do this thing where we think that every fighter has to be perfect, right?
That you can have no holes in your game, otherwise you're not going to be able to compete at an elite level.
In reality, if Ian's able to execute his game plan better than you're able to execute yours, he's going to win that fight.
And so the best off the best defense is a good offense.
And Ian Gary's offense prevented proches offense from
getting off prevented him from doing what he needed to do. It
was a fantastic game plan. I didn't see anywhere where I was
looking at that and going like I don't think I think Ian Gary
has these major glaring holes that he can't compete at this
level. He got hit by a guy who puts everybody else to sleep in
the final moments of a fight. And so he got rocked and he survived, but he dominated that fight.
He completely outclassed him.
He continues to talk about these master classes.
It was a master class.
It was one way traffic.
So yeah, I don't see that.
But if you're asking me, can somebody beat Ian Gary?
Yes, I think somebody can beat Ian Gary.
I don't think he's invincible in the same way I don't think
most fighters are invincible. So I see some areas where somebody could beat him Gary I don't think he's invincible in the same way I don't think most fighters are invincible so I see some areas where somebody could beat
him but I see many areas where he's gonna beat other guys just as badly
short and sweet. We're not saying like the optics aren't bad like yeah of course like
that it would have been better if that didn't happen you know like in terms of
if he's weighing up who's gonna be next for a title I'm sure the UFC matchmakers
are gonna take that in consideration like versus a Brady v. Leon fight like that
It's 100% kind of factor into those decisions, but I thought he fought great
I think more of the narrative is around this like quote-unquote point fighting which I don't know what it actually means anymore
Like he's not sitting there doing like cardio kickboxing class. Like he's got a knocked him down. Yeah, he's got quite an aggressive style
He's very high volume. He doesn't have the power maybe somebody like proches has but that I don't know
I'm not a I'm not a guy who needs to see that. I think Ian Gary is is quite quite a good fighter

I know it's a sensitive topic, but we would love to hear your take considering your extensive coverage of the sport. I mean it's
very sad. I obviously haven't talked to BJ. I think BJ doesn't like me anymore
or something. I've seen him post some stuff but obviously there's a lot going
on. I have the utmost love and respect and admiration for BJ, a legend of the
game, and I hope that he's okay. I hope that he is able to get to be in a good, healthy place.
I think we all kind of feared as the sport grew up,
and as, you know, there was once a time where people
would be like, look, look at the MMA fighters
compared to the boxers, you know, there's no real issues,
life after fighting, all that stuff.
Well, there just wasn't a big enough sample size,
and now you're starting to see that.
I mean, even Harrison was referring to some of that.
You know, for some of you newer fans, like BJ is royalty.
He's New York Ricks favorite fighter.
He's one of the greatest fighters of all time.
I've talked on and on about how I thought at one point he was the best pound for pound
fighter in the world after his win at UFC 107.
I don't like to see this.
And I just wish him the best and
I think everyone does. He is truly fighting royalty and this stuff is scary and we know
about the repercussions and we know what could happen to fighters after the music stops so
to speak and there's not a lot of protection and there's no real, you know, there's no
soft landing, there's no pension, things like that.
That's why I talk about these things
because you get to see how, you know,
the sausage is made and what the fighters are left with
in the aftermath, when it all is said and done,
like we, you know, you could focus on this event
and this event and this event,
and it goes on and on and on.
But that's why I have so much love
for the rampages of the world and the legends of the game
because without them, A, there is none of us,
there is no sport.
They gave us great entertainment and there was a time
where they were the Ian Garys of the world.
They were, you know, the Aspenalls and.
The Islams.
The Islams and the Sugar Shant and the Marabs,
like this whole thing moves so fast.
And I hate to see some of those guys get forgotten about.

That is a deep one.
You know what's crazy?
I was actually thinking about this recently.
I was thinking about people who say
I don't have any regrets,
and I was thinking of the fact
that I'm not one of those people,
and I almost feel like it's not, I don't know.
I don't think you're being truthful
if you say you don't have any regrets.
You could probably say like,
oh, I wouldn't do it any different.
That's fine.
Or I'm happy how it all played out.
That's fine.
But if I'm being honest with everyone, yes, I do have regrets.
I have regrets.
My early 20s, I took...
So when you say this, you say this with the benefit of hindsight. And so knowing how the story plays out, I wish I didn't, I wish I wasn't as,
for lack of a better word, serious when I was in Syracuse
because I really like closed off the whole world.
Now I was dealing with a lot mentally, I was homesick.
I didn't allow myself to have the true
fun college experience.
However, perhaps if I do that, I don't end up where I end up.
I don't know.
There have definitely been times where I felt like, man,
I should have, you know, or I wished I didn't do this or that.
When I was in ninth grade and we took a trip, a class trip,
I didn't, I remember like not going on some of the activities
and this was a big deal.
I sat on the bus because I didn't want to do...
I think about these things.
I'm like, man, I should have done that.
Why didn't you do that?
You have to live, you know, you have to only live life once.
You have to, with that mentality, go out there and do things.
Don't let, you know, don't let anxiety, don't let your fears,
don't let any sort of, you know, trepidation hold you back.
And honestly, like throughout life, throughout my professional life, there's obviously things that I think back on and say like,
you know, maybe I shouldn't have been this hard-headed or maybe I shouldn't have been this emotional.
And I'm honestly learning those lessons every single day now too. So I'm sure when I'm, God willing, 55,
I'll look back on 42 and say, you know,
I wish I didn't do this, I wish I didn't do that,
I wish I didn't say this, I wish I didn't say that.
But ultimately, like a lot of those people,
I do look back and say I'm happy how it all has played out,
at least for now, and I'm proud of how it all has played out.
But of course, if I could have some do-overs,
I'd love to have some do-overs, for sure.
And as far as your 20s are concerned,
I feel like the 20s are, all right,
the 30s are when you build your house.
The 40s, in my opinion, speaking as a relatively young 40,
early 40s,
you get to sort of like live in that house
and expand on what you built.
The 20s are where you're laying the foundation.
The 20s are like, these are the,
you'll meet a lot of important people in your 20s,
you'll meet a lot of important people in your 30s.
The 20s are post-college, you get to find out.
But guess what?
The decisions that you make in your 20s
very well may not affect you in your 40s.
And sometimes younger people have to know this.
21, 22, it's okay to try out different things.
It's okay to fail, it's okay to take risks.
It's okay to shoot for the stars
and then go in a different directions.
Like that's actually the time when you should do it
because you don't have probably a family or kids
or things like that holding you back.
And I don't say holding you back, but you have to make calculated decisions
when you're older and are looking after other people.
You could be a little bit more selfish.
And you can zig and zag.
So, you know, everyone has their own path.
I always felt like college, I gotta be serious.
I have a goal, I was very goal oriented.
I was a dream big guy.
I wasn't a party guy.
I wasn't a like, let's just have fun guy
and worry about the rest.
And the main thing was my anxiety.
The anxiety that I had was my engine.
That's what fueled me.
I didn't wanna fail.
I didn't wanna slip up.
I didn't wanna embarrass myself.
I didn't want all my attention and I didn't want to embarrass myself. I didn't want all my, my, my attention and,
and my hard work to go for not that may not be
your mentality or, or may not be your path.
But, um, yeah, that's why when I would go on
trips, I wouldn't gamble or I wouldn't drink
or I wouldn't party and things like, like that.
Because I wanted to be very, very, very focused.
And then maybe at some point I'll be 50 and be
like, I wish I used up a little bit.
But I don't know. As somebody, I wish I eased up a little bit.
But as somebody, so I am that person. I do not live with regrets. I have zero regrets in my entire
life. Never have, never will. Because by nature, they're looking backwards. I don't need to look
backwards. Like it serves, it doesn't serve me to look backwards. I'm only in the present or looking
forward because I cannot change those things. They got me to this point, you know, to the point that
you were making about, they get you to this point. I would ask you like if
you did not do those things, would you be here? You know, there's no guarantee that
if you were doing those other things, you don't take your eye off the ball or you do
rather, you do take your eye off the ball and you're not in this position that you're
in today. I think the last part that you touched on is like the most important which is most of these decisions
especially in your 20s are not life or death. They are not life or death decisions and
Make your decision and live with it make make your decision feel firm
Make the choice that you feel is right and stand on it and proceed forward and then that's the best way to go about it
And again, these are my flaws. I'm a lamenter, I'm a guy, I like to make decisions
and move on, but I will overthink things.
The FOMO, the feeling like you made the wrong call.
Yes, I will be honest.
I know it's not cool to say that.
I know it's not great to say that, but that is me.
And I overthink things, I get in my head.
We all do that, we all do that.
I mean, I guess not all of us, but I know a lot of other people are like that as well.
And there's little things, like I'm learning as my kids are getting older and there's decisions that have to be made.
I want to teach them to make a decision and to go with it and to not look back.
I keep talking about that Lex Luger line because it really did resonate with me.
But also these things all affect other things right? You have these
experiences and now you're trying to do
something different for your kids. If you
do that differently then maybe you don't
have that feeling, maybe you aren't that
way and then you don't pass it on to your
kids. This is all, it's all going to
manifest in some way down the line which
is why I'm this way. I'm looking straight
ahead and just trying to push.
But in the same way that you're trying, we all learn. We all have to adapt.
We all have to, you know, like,
we all have to make our way through this,
but there are no life or death decisions in that 20
unless there's truly a life or death decision.
Go with your gut, chase it, and do what you love.
