Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Air...
Monday, August 31st, 2000.
And 26, hello again, everyone.
I sure hope you're doing well.
It is great to be here on the final day of August in the summer of 26,
already hailed as the greatest summer of our lives.
And what a weekend in combat sports.
Holy shit, I've been chopping at the bit, Frankie.
chomping at the bit to be here.
Champing, chomping, champing.
I believe it's...
This is so great.
It's spelled champing, but you say it chomping.
And I'm a sickler when it comes to these things.
Like, I hate when people say, like, what's that one that people say?
There's the other one.
By the way, it's so great.
It's...
It's said champing.
But I had a soft o.
It was more than...
Oh, okay, okay.
It was a soft o.
Like, Aero versus Erri.
could care less.
No, it's you couldn't care less.
Listen, we have no time for this dilly-dallying, guys,
being sticklers about this type of stuff.
We have a lot to talk about.
I have been champing at the bit to be here,
sitting in this chair,
talking to all of you about this past weekend's activities.
It has been an insane couple hours,
or I should say more 48 hours or so in the world of combat sports.
And it really has been, you know what I was thinking about?
I was like, like, what is up with this year?
What is up with this year?
And what is up with this day?
This Saturday that we just had, what is going on?
And if there's one word that I can use to describe this past weekend and Saturday in particular,
and if there's one word that I could use to describe this past summer,
and if there's one word that I could use to describe this year,
and in particular like the second quarter of this year, it would be underdog.
It would be upset.
I guess those are two words, but they sort of mean the same thing.
It seems like every single weekend there's a shocking upset.
in the world of combat sports.
Leading up to this weekend, leading up to this weekend,
just a quick reminder, as far as fights in 2026 are concerned,
notable ones, all right?
As far as fights in 2026, Carlos Ulberg,
with the torn ACL, slight dog, pretty much 50-50,
but just the obstacle that he had to overcome
to knock out Yeru Pachaska back in April.
Shocking.
Sean Strickland, beating Hamza Chimayev.
Sean Strickland was a plus-380 underdog.
To me, shocking.
Justin Gachi, beating Ilya, plus 350 dog.
Shocking, I thought he'd be an even bigger dog.
Kevin Borjas defeating Andre Lima.
That was a plus 530 underdog at the apex in June.
Jeremiah Wells, remember against Mikdibik Oralbi, back in August.
Well, earlier this month, UFC 330, plus 900 dog when he beat him in that opening fight.
Dustin Stoltzfuss, defeating Mansour Abdul-Malek, plus 475 underdog.
Alex Hopadaka just last week six days ago, defeating Bellamere, plus 1450 underdog.
Look at this from our friend Jedi Goodman on Twitter.
Underdogs are 11 and 15 and three pickums in UFC main events this year.
Song Yadong, more on him in a second, plus 430.
Last week, Gregory Rodriguez, Hodriguez, plus 180, Gachi, plus 350.
I told you about him.
Strickland, plus 380.
Aljo, plus 110.
Moikano plus 120. How is he a dog in that fight? Joe Pfeiffer plus 120. Charles O'Vare plus 165.
Lonnie Kavanaugh plus 170.
Sean Strickland again plus 220. That was against Fluffy and then Gachi beginning of the year against Patty plus 200.
The Year of the Dog, not just in combat sports, but in all sports.
Remember these guys? Remember these guys? The New York Knicks, a plus 2,000 going into the playoffs.
Indiana football, start of the year, plus 15,000. Juan Manuel,
Serendulo. Did I get that right, G.C.?
You nailed it, man. You nailed it.
Beating Yannick's sinner at the French Open plus 3,300 dog.
We know about Mayo winning the All-Ireland Championship.
Pizzi told us about that, breaking the 75-year curse plus 1,200.
Seahawks winning the Super Bowl plus 6,000 at the beginning of the preseason.
Paraguay beating Germany plus 520.
Those are just some that we came up when they knocked them out of the World Cup.
And by the way, shout out to Leo Messi announcing his retirement.
just moments ago from international soccer
in case you missed that.
Perhaps that was an underdog as well.
Exactly, Cheeto.
What the hell is going on?
And so it brings us to Saturday,
waking up early for that Shanghai card.
What a crowd.
Holy shit.
We need to remember this crowd
come December or January
when we do our awards.
And perhaps the crowd in France,
in Paris in particular on Saturday,
is going to trump them.
But for now, that Shanghai card
and that crowd may be at the top of card of the year and crowd of the year because they were on fire and there were great results and we'll get into all the results to tell you about what happened.
But it culminates with their very own Sonja Dong, who was victorious back in May in Macau against Davis and Figurato coming back so smart to put him there.
He comes across as a superstar against the big, bad, scary Umar Nurmaga Madov, who of course is part of that team, Habib team who, you know, had a great August,
with Islam winning, great end of July,
with Usmaner Magamadov winning.
And what happens?
He knocks him out in the second round.
And he was calm, cool as can be.
He's laughing.
He's joking beginning of the second round.
Crazy stuff.
Later in the day, Moses Atama, Philip Hergevich.
Don't worry, we are getting into all of that and more.
I'm just setting the table here.
Moses Atama, minutes away from making history,
21 years young.
He would be just the second youngest champion
as far as the heavyweight division is concerned
in boxing history.
The youngest, of course,
20 years old,
Mike Tyson
some 40 or so years ago.
Philip Hergevich.
Tough, durable,
crafty, smart veteran,
but no one who's ever been a champion before
has had his opportunities.
Two years ago,
Daniel Dubois beats him.
Mosetama,
looking like his usual killer self,
fast, composed,
hard-hitting, powerful
in the early going,
and then
what the hell happens
in the late portion of the 8th
but really the 9th zapped of all
energy. The
gas meter goes like below
the E.
Empty. Loses.
Corner throws in the towel. It was sort of at the same time
corner and referee stopping the fight.
Atama loses. Now 14 and 1.
To say that I was shocked
would be an understatement.
I was yelling. I was standing.
I was screaming. More on that.
And then we get to later in the night
Mike Perry is supposed to fight Dylan Dennis.
We find out on Thursday.
Dennis nowhere to be found.
He supposedly has a cut.
Who the hell knows if it's real, if it's not, if it's AI, if it's old, if it's not.
In enters Brandon Jenkins, who fought Chris Avila on that MVP card back in May.
And Perry dislocates his shoulder and ends up losing.
And Brandon Jenkins wins.
And that was shocking in its own right.
Because remember, Mike Perry has been pretty damn impossible to beat other than that one
boxing match against Jake Paul, who was much bigger than him, fighting in a sport that, you know,
Mike was a debutante in. He's been like a Terminator out there, like a zombie, like a Frankenstein.
Like you can't put him away. And then all of a sudden this freak injury happens. And so three pretty
gigantic upsets, Song you dong a plus 460 underdog, Hergevich a plus 650 and Jenkins a plus
600. I thought, honestly, the last two could have been even bigger, considering how we felt about
their opponents going into the fight.
So just an absolute crazy day, and I can't wait to get into all of it and more in a moment.
I do want to let you know that today's program is brought you by our good friends over
at Kalshi.
We love Kalshi around these parts, right?
They treat us so well.
There's the QR code.
I need to catch my breath.
I'm all kinds of fired up.
This episode brought you by Kalshi.
They are in exchange where you can trade on what you actually think is going to have.
sports, politics, culture, whatever is on your mind.
You're going up against other traders directly.
There's no house setting the odds.
It's just people putting their own opinions on the line.
Right now you can trade $25 with the code Helwani,
and they'll throw in another $25 instantly.
We remind you to trade responsibly.
I also want to remind you that there's just about 52 minutes left
in our eBay auction for that poker felt top table
that we had everyone sign International Fight Week.
there it is, all going to a great cause.
We need to get that number up, if possible.
Who joined us?
Paolo Costa joined us.
Robert Whitaker joined us.
Mayhem Miller joined us.
Yuanian Jacek joined us.
We're going to give 50% of everything that we get to her specific charity
and then 50% to cancer fighters as well.
John Anick joined us.
Al Jermaine Sterling joined us.
John Kavanaugh, all those people plus our whole squad and others.
John Wood, Joanne Calderwood, aka Wood, signed it.
it's all yours, a true one of one from our shows back in July, and the auction is done at 2 Eastern.
So that's in 50 minutes from now.
And that's yours.
One of one.
Do whatever you want.
All those people signed it.
Pretty damn cool if you ask me.
So 50 minutes left will remind you with a couple of minutes left as well.
As far as today's program is concerned, back into the show, the Destroyer in studio, Andy Ruiz Jr., who has
fought just four times since his shocking upset, one of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing
of Anthony Joshua right here in New York City, Madison Square Garden back in June of 2019.
You remember that, one of the greatest upsets.
This was AJ's big New York debut, big American debut.
DeZone was really making a big push here in America.
He's supposed to fight Big Baby Miller.
Big Baby gets pop for all kinds of stuff.
In enters the relatively unknown Mexican American Andy Ruiz.
Parents immigrated from Mexico.
to California, shocks the world, stops AJ.
His life gets flipped turned upside down.
They rematch in December of that year.
He loses.
Since then, he's only fought three times.
We last saw him back in August of 24.
I remember that one.
That was at BMO Field in Cali.
I was at the Olympics watching that.
Jarrell Miller and him fight to a majority draw.
It was a weird fight.
He breaks his hand in that fight.
and he hasn't been seen since.
He has signed with Matrum.
He's fighting on TNT this Friday at the Prudential Center in Newark.
He's going to be joining us in studio.
What a great treat that is.
Prior to that, Joe Lozon, who was a part of that BKFC card at Fenway Park this Saturday,
another crazy event that happened.
12,000 or so people would look great on streaming where I was watching it.
Joe Lozahn hasn't fought since 2019 as well.
And that was obviously in the UFC.
There were some rumors that he was going to fight in 22.
Those fights fell through.
We had them on the show.
I remember to talk about it
back in the MMA hour days.
Well, he came back to fight
in Boston, got the win.
One of the OGs of the game,
one of my favorites,
Joe Lozong going to join us
to talk about that.
And in about 19 minutes,
we're going to be joined by Katie Taylor.
As you probably know,
Katie Taylor is making that final walk
this Saturday, September 5th.
We have great coverage
coming your way regarding that fight
because not only is at the end
of the greatest career
in women's boxing history,
2012 Olympic gold medalist, two-weight, undisputed champion, has only lost once avenge that loss.
Obviously, it's the Chantel Cameron.
She had the big win this weekend over Michaela Mayer as well.
And she's making that walk against Flora Peely.
But the big story is she's getting to do it at Croke Park, where she's always wanted to fight.
The last boxer, the headline a show there, Muhammad Ali, 1972.
This is her country stadium.
This is where she has talked about.
wanting to retire. She's getting that moment. 80,000 tickets sold in about 30 minutes.
Pete's going to join us afterwards to talk a little bit about it. He has a great piece coming out
on uncrown.com later this week, setting the table for it. He'll do a post-reaction pod from Croke Park
on Saturday. So can't wait to get into all of that and more with Katie Taylor. Three guests today
because I want to talk about that upset weekend. And we need to start with what transpired in the main
event of Saturday's UFC show in Shanghai. Again, the crowd was phenomenal. The crowd was absolutely
great. And there were so many great performances leading up. We can highlight a couple of them.
The Julia Pulasri headkick knockout. Amazing. The Hector Santiago finish. Amazing.
Francisco Nussi. There was a point at the beginning of the card where all the Chinese-born
fighters, they were all losing. And it was a point at the beginning of the card, they were all losing. And it was a
was a little bit worrisome for the partisan crowd. Ray Tsaruya gets the submission,
Rear Naked Chok win, hailing from Japan, very impressive win over Kevin Borjas.
Andre Lima's win, impressive as well. Balal Hassan continues to impress. We'll talk to him later
in the week. I'm looking forward to that. His moves super amazing. Super amazing? Super impressive.
Kaya Sukura with the great knockout
He looks great at 135 pounds
The Nisi Gomes with the great finish
I remember saying to the guys
If the Nisi Gomes
There's something going on with these finishes
in the UFC right now
If the Nisi Gomes gets to win
or Jan Chownan gets the finish here
Like something is in the air in the UFC
The amount of finishes
I actually saw a tweet
I could pull this up real quick
I forgot to
to mention this beforehand.
Yeah, I saw this from Mike Bonn of M.
A Junkie.
An epic summer run for the UFC ends in the upset of the year so far.
These are the numbers from 16 events from May 2nd to August 29th,
198 fights, 133 finishes, 74 first round finishes.
Like I said last week, after the Sacramento card,
the UFC is on a heater right now.
but it all culminates with that Umar shocking loss to Song Yadong.
And there's a lot that we could say here.
Obviously, Song, you know, it still feels like he hasn't quite reached his full potential.
It still feels like he is, you know, the guy's 28.
He's still relatively young.
I remind you, Jalen Brunson turned 30 today.
Look at all that he's accomplished pre-30.
Song Yadong, not quite Jailen Brunson, but there's still a lot more time for him.
And he's been around for a while.
That was his 34th pro fight.
Umar had only lost to Marab.
And to me,
Umar is very good.
And the fact that,
look, I think two things can be true.
Umar is extremely good.
He's one of the very best bantam weights in the world.
The fact that his last name is Namarga Madov and he has Habib by his side,
I don't think anyone with like a clear mind can argue against the fact that he was pushed relatively
quickly. I remind you that prior to his win over Corey Sanhagen, he didn't have any top 15 wins.
He didn't have like any true big time wins. But he was undefeated. He beat Corey Sanhagen. He got
the tattah shot against Marab. And that was part of the reason why Marab and him just couldn't see eye to
eye. Since then, big win over Mario Batista, big win over Davis and Figurato. It's all been warranted
since then. But he's not, in my opinion, as refined right now as Habib was, as Islam was,
And his brother, Usman, it remains to be seen, but he himself says Usman is better than him.
That being said, he was a favorite going into this fight and given the style matchup,
and given the fact that it seems like Song is a little bit, you know, up and down, it made sense.
He wins one, he loses one, he wins one, he gets a close one, Sean O'Malley fight, relatively close, looks good against Davidson.
You don't know exactly what's going to happen, but Umar seemed to have the skill set.
And now this thing that came up in the Batista fight
where he dips when he shoots,
came back to Hanam, he got rocked in that fight,
he gets knocked out in this one.
Incredible win for Song.
A win that may propel him into that upper echel line.
Give him the confidence,
give him the panache to say like,
okay, I am that guy.
And we'll find out what becomes a Vumar now.
I don't get fuck.
Some people care, to be honest.
song tweeting after the fight
a nod to one
Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold
UFC 199
Believe, conceive, achieve
Umar posting this after the fight
Everything is fine with me
Alcham de Lila
Thank you so much to everyone who writes
I will work on the mistakes
And I will be back
Mara probably enjoyed this very much
He posted this after the win
Uh oh
These two were going back and forth
a lot. And let me just say this from Habib. Chabib posted this as well. Chabib posted this on IG.
You've come a long way in this sport brother, amateur and pro like use it in your fight tomorrow.
Okay, maybe this was before the fight, to be honest. Yes. Nevertheless, nevertheless,
Islam got knocked out earlier in his career. People come back. No big deal. There were a couple
things that did irk me. I'm not going to lie. His brother, Usmaner, Magamato,
off jumping into the cage immediately after the fight, this is what I can say about it.
And I didn't say anything on Twitter because everyone's a complete psychopath on Twitter.
Usman jumps into the cage.
He gave us that legendary gift.
That's his brother.
I don't begrudge him for reacting that way, for feeling like he can't control himself.
You can't do that, though.
You can't do that.
And when we're living in a time where the Nevada Athletic Commission is finding the likes of
Patty Pimbleding Gable Steveson withholding their purse and then, you know,
dinging them 2,500 for just sitting or jumping on the cage.
Like, I don't necessarily agree with that.
But we have to live in a world where if that's going to be punishable,
and I know it's all different commissions and all that stuff,
jumping into the cage full force uncontrollably and almost bumping into the winner
and then stopping short and hitting him with a spinning back elbow,
there's got to be something for that.
Now, I don't know what it is.
nothing will happen. Of course, nothing will happen. But that's crazy to do that. Again, I understand
being emotional. I understand caring for your brother. Someone needs to stop him from doing that. And it did
seem like Habib tried to grab onto his leg, credit to him. Security has to be better. Who's to say
someone else doesn't try to jump in there? And I see some people giving him credit for stopping
short. Fine, yeah, you didn't hit him. So the crime wasn't committed. But the fact that he even
like went as far as to almost do that could have been an absolute disaster he would have knocked
song yodong out cold that would have ended his chances of ever getting into the ufc and and hopefully
that two million dollar offer if that really is what it is from MVP slash pfl still on the table
he should not be in there he should not be banging into to song he should not be bumping into him he
should not even be thinking of doing something like that like you are not above it and and and he posts this
afterwards which i think is laughable we will only be
understood by what is prescribed for us.
Al-Ham Dila in any position,
people make such a big tragedy out of this.
They better calm down.
Now, what he's talking about, I think, is the loss.
What I think he's talking about is the loss.
There are things that are much worse.
You don't have to think too long.
Just look at what is happening in the world.
Like, what does one have to do with the other?
What is happening in the world?
What is he talking about?
Of course, I know what he's referring to.
But let's not try to...
We're watching a fight.
You clearly cared about it.
You cared about it so much
that you jumped into the cage
and almost hit your brother's opponent
with a spinning back elbow.
So you clearly cared.
You can't diminish it for the rest of us
when you very much cared.
We continue with his post here real quick
and at the expense of the fact
that I allegedly wanted to hit his opponent
I would have hit him if I wanted to.
I mean, you almost did
and you pulled the elbow.
It's very clear you almost hit him.
But I'm not going to blame you for that
because you didn't hit him.
but the intentions were very clear.
Please keep it up there. I need to finish.
Evil, little, and jealous people,
your problem is that you have never had
and will never have the understanding and love of the family.
Okay.
If you don't know what a brother means to a brother,
then you should feel sorry, not for me, but for you.
This seems very defensive.
Your brother lost.
Your brother got knocked out.
You jumped into the cage.
Cared for your brother,
almost created a mess.
Almost knocked out his opponent.
Credit to you for coming to your senses,
split of the moment,
but like, all this is insane to me.
Absolutely insane.
Take the loss.
We'll be better.
My bad for jumping into the cage.
Let's not compare this to wars happening,
tragedy's happening,
and let's not insult the people
who are watching this
and caring about these fights
for whatever reason,
invested into these fights,
for whatever reason,
invested in you and your family's career,
and your career,
your brother's career,
your team's career,
why call them all these things.
Now, I don't know who's writing what.
I'm sure there's psychopaths writing all kinds of things,
reveling in the victory and all of that.
I'm not talking about those people.
I'm talking about the sane-minded people
who are just being like,
yo, you probably shouldn't jump full force into a cage
and think about hitting your brother's opponent
with a spinning back elbow.
Guys, what did you make of this?
Let me tag you in here real quick
before we get to Katie.
First, the win, Rick, by song,
and then all the aftermath hysteria.
Yeah, I can't even pretend for a second that I anticipated this, right?
I thought that Umar was going to win this fight.
But when Connor and I were talking about this on Thursday,
the thing that I said was absent from Song's wins as he crept up in competition.
Actually, from Song's fights as he crept up in competition,
was that kind of one hit or quitter explosive power.
It had seemed to have gone by the wayside as the level of competition increased.
And then that was there on Saturday.
He showed that off.
When Umar took that shot,
He hit him with a shot that wasn't even like super flush.
It's not that like obvious like type of chaos shot that you typically see.
Right.
But he was prepared for that moment and landed the biggest shot of his life.
He seemed like, and we had also made this comparison, he seemed like a Corey Sandhagen, right?
He seemed like a guy who was extremely well-rounded, extremely good, can be competitive with anybody at the top of the division,
but couldn't get that signature like top five guy-ish win.
He couldn't get over the hump.
This to me puts him over the hump.
This to me puts Song Yadong back in conversation
for one of the top
Bandomweights. It puts him in conversation
with the big time fight. So,
needed it desperately and got it in the most
remarkable fashion. G.C.
Yeah, career altering, life altering. That's about the only thing I can say.
To Rick's point, he's 28 years old. He had
several shots at Top 5 at Bannonway,
but it felt like every single time we saw
one of these fight announced. It was like, man, this is sort of
where Song falls short. Once again,
he's a massive underdog on the odds.
sort of felt like Umarna Magamatov. He had the one slip up against Maraub, broke the hand. This feels
like the moment where he sort of solidifies his place as getting another title shot. To do it in
Shanghai, to knock out Umarna Maghamadov, it's going to change his career forever. Now, as soon as
he wins, people are talking about him getting a next title shot. Despite Shugasharmoumali
beating him just earlier this year, it's a monumental moment. And it just 28 years old,
I feel like we are seeing a split in the trajectory of his career in front of our very eyes.
It was incredible. I was blown away. I did not.
think it was going to happen. It was amazing. It also feels and looks bigger because it's in China,
because they're going crazy for him. He's going crazy. He comes across like a superstar, the post-fight
interview. I don't think he gets a title shot next. I mean, Sugar just beat him back in January,
but it's a gigantic scalp to have on his mantle. And I'm curious what they do with Umar now.
Like, Umar has the name. He has the skill. But I do think that they try to put him in these big spots
because of the name and because of the legacy and the lineage.
And I don't think he's there just yet.
Does anyone disagree with me?
Because I know it'll be called the hater for this,
that he was pushed well, like, faster than anyone else?
Yes, I disagree.
You disagree?
I think he's up there.
I think he's as good as advertised.
Did the wins equal the title shot?
Meaning, did the wins that he had accumulated warrant the title shot?
No, but much like Islam, it was just he, you can't match him, right?
What did Islam get a title off?
Like, was it Bobby Green or something?
Bobby Green, yeah.
I mean, he was like fighting names for a while.
Nobody wants to fight Islam.
Song Yadong took that,
sorry, nobody wants to fight Umar.
Song Yadong took that opportunity.
Is there like a long, you know,
list of people who have turned down Umar fights?
To my understanding, yeah,
the reason why you see him infrequently is because they can't seem to get him
an opponent.
So what was he at the point that he got the,
he was undefeated.
Yeah.
when he got the title shot.
He was like 7 and 0 in the UFC.
There wasn't many people.
I mean, Marab was clearing out the division.
Also, he was very, very competitive with Marab in that fight.
It was 48, 47, and he had the broken hand.
I'm not saying he didn't warn it from a skill standpoint.
I'm just saying most people have to go through like a murderous road to get to a title shot.
Neither here nor there.
I'm not trying to diminish his skills.
He has proven since that he's very good and he proved in that fight.
I just, I understand why Marab felt some sort of way.
I understand where he was like,
if his last name was Sanchez,
is he getting that title fight?
Yeah, of course not.
He's boosted by the name,
but...
Okay, that's all.
So is Usman heading in...
I understand he's a Bellator champion and everything,
but heading into this new promotion,
he is boosted by his last name as well.
Yeah, but he's, I mean, he's champ,
he beat Paul Hughes twice,
all that and more,
what did you think of the Usman stuff?
Yeah, he's clearly emotional.
It was his brother,
and I think he should have just owned up to that.
I think he acted irrationally and acted out.
I mean, you just can't jump into the cage.
I mean, Habibn Mugamatov has been in that situation a million times over coaching someone,
and he's trying to grab his foot as he's going in. He's like, dude, dude, what are you doing?
Yeah, I think he acted out of emotion. And then the spinning back elbow and everything is clearly crossing the line.
You're not even in the promotion yet. You're trying to get signed by this promotion. It felt like you should have just been like,
listen, guys, I was emotional. I acted out. That's my bad. We're going to move on.
To make the post to be like, you guys don't understand the love of a.
family, the love of her brother, none of you will ever get it, blah, blah, blah.
There's bigger things in life than care.
Like, what are we talking about?
It felt like a bad look.
It kind of, these last few weeks, I mean, he looked so good at PFL New York.
But then he goes to UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
He's calling everybody in the top 10 a bum.
I'm going to run through these people who cares about this organization.
He's talking to D.C.
They're all bums, bombs, bombs.
And then he has this moment.
It kind of leaves a sour taste in your mouth as he looks to enter the UFC.
Do you think the UFC thinks about not signing?
him because of this or no?
No.
Yeah.
I would imagine it's going to...
He's an incredible fighter.
And if he would have just stopped short of like, hey, guys, I lost my cool, that's my
bro, I saw him get knocked out for the first time, that's my bad.
Everyone would have understood.
But the combo of jumping, doing this, just doing this and stopping short, again, it's
not the same punishment, but it's still insane that you even did that, number one, a couple
inches here and song is knocked out. Could you imagine? Song getting knocked out after winning by
a cornerman. Insanity. And then the post afterwards was just like a triple whammy of what are we doing here?
Yeah, guys that pride themselves on respect, especially Habib. I mean, we even saw it at 3.30 with
Ian Gary and Islam going back and forth and Islam being like, dude, shut up when he's when he's
giving all this praise to Islam. He's just like, man, shut up. And then,
then we see Habib in the back being like, dude, you got to
respect this guy. It's a, it's a
team that prides themselves
on respect, and it felt like
Guzman and Magamatov was not acting out of that
on Saturday. No. Most
impressive performance other than that one, from
that card. You, you woke up, right?
I was up early, baby. Legit?
Come on, legit. Scheduled?
Scheduled posts. We're making scheduled post. We're making
scheduled post allegations. I'm just asking. I'm asking
the questions that were on people's mind. The Kaiasakou
was unbelievable. That head kick. That
That had me like up out of my seat at whenever it was, 6.30 Eastern at that point.
I love what he's doing at 135.
I like this slow roll.
Obviously, he came into the promotion against Alessandra Pantosha, one of the best flyweight we ever seen.
That's a daunting task.
I think he's found his home at 135, and I'm excited to see where he goes.
Yeah, that was incredible.
He has looked really good at 135.
First fight, what?
It kicked off at like three something.
Yeah.
And you were there for it.
Oh, come on.
For Cam Nelson, Meng Ding?
You thought I wouldn't be up for Mengding.
31 years old, 47 professional fights?
Yeah.
Give me a break, dude.
Legend.
Stop with this.
Legend.
And shout it to you guys for the fight feasts.
Oh, that's good.
This fight feast, probably my favorite.
It's my favorite by far.
The final five minutes.
The final five minutes are just absolutely insane.
I mean, just dripping with inside jokes as well.
Yeah, I feel like it was just one large inside joke.
Like, if you didn't know.
anything about the show you'd be like what the
fuck is this oh my god that was
incredible so kudos to you and it's
on the YouTube page right now
this by the way was
Umar before the fight
and this stuff comes up it's come up with
Moses as well
people bring up clips of people but you know
he did seem quite confident and
dismissive again this happens all the
time but here he is speaking
before the fight of course I'm interested
in this fight he's a punching bag
how did he do against O'Malley
he was dead by the third round
fourth round he's taking knees to the face
how do you fight I don't consider him a top class fighter
honestly and did you see his fight with Peter
maybe yeah probably
on the feet Yadong doesn't seem so bad
that's what the reporter says
the only thing he has that one punch that's it
what else does he have
something he definitely has something
it's not for nothing that he fights in the UFC
for me it's an easy fight but of course I'll prepare to take him out
No underestimation, but I don't know.
It's a bit weak.
That's tough afterwards.
It really is like a tale as old as time in fight promotion.
You build up your opponent to sell the fight because you know you're going up against his guard.
And then if you beat him, you beat an incredible opponent.
And if you lose to him, you lost to an incredible opponent.
Before the fight, you're saying he's weak, he's easy, he shouldn't even be in the UFC.
see, and then you lose to them, it's so much worse.
It's such a bad look.
Why do they do this?
It keeps happening.
It will always happen.
These guys have such high self-belief in themselves.
Obviously, they're fighters, they're incredible athletes, but man, it just, it never ages well.
I mean, like you said, it came out with Moses Satama as well.
Yeah, and Moses was, he was dismissive.
This is very dismissive.
But yeah, if you just be like, yo, I'm the freaking man.
This guy's great.
but I'm going to I'm going to like school him in front of his people
and then you lose all right fine I understand but to call him like
punching bag and he's weak and what does he have reporter he's got to have something
yeah come on man I think the Moses one it's just like it's poetic that he's like
you shouldn't be praised for having a good chin and like I hurry go it's just like
what if you hit me with your best shot and I don't do anything and then that happened
yeah by the way this is John Jones reacting John Jones was was ringside
and I think this was all of us.
I think this was all of us.
Insane.
Oh, no.
Is he going to get fined for that too?
Ah, is he getting a fine for this?
Here's song, I think, celebrating with John Jones.
What a moment.
Worth it.
Worth the $2,500 or however much it costs.
It's not going to go.
That's a Nevada thing.
Whatever commission it is, and I'm pretty sure it's the UFC who's, you know, running the show
over there, they're not going to find them.
It's a silly, silly thing, especially in such happy times.
But yeah, I think John Jones was all of us.
All right, more to come as far as the action from Saturday is concerned.
But we have a very, very, very special opportunity here for a few minutes' time to talk about the star of this upcoming weekend's slate of fights.
We've been talking about it for so long, and I can't even imagine what life is like for Katie Taylor, as she is now just five days away from making that final walk and not just in any venue, but the most legendary and historic venue.
and the one that she has wanted to fight for her entire career
and has been talking about in particular for the past four years
to be able to retire at Croke Park,
say goodbye, the end of the greatest career in women's boxing history,
2012 Olympic gold medalist, two-weight, undisputed champion.
It all comes to an end in five days' time,
and she's kind enough to join us right here and now
to reflect a little bit on all of it.
Hello, Katie.
It's so great to talk to you.
What an honor on this fight week.
Thank you.
No, thank you so much, Ariel.
It's great.
Always great to see you.
And, yeah, super exciting times.
I have to say, Katie, I'm a little bit sad in large part because I feel like once this fight happens on Saturday, you're going to disappear.
We'll never see you again or hear from you again or get a chance to speak to you again.
Yeah.
No, I think you'll probably see me a bit more than you think, Ariel.
I think I will stay involved in the sport in some way.
But at the same time, I think it's going to be nice not to take any more punches again also.
It's been a long hard career.
I think I am stepping away at the right time.
but this is just a dream
going through for me to actually end my career
in Crow Park
and you know
walking top this really
and for me personally
it's just an absolute dream
and to do in front of 80,000 people as well
I'm not sure there's any other country
in the world that will turn out like that
for a team an athlete
I'm so so proud of that
and this is just a dream
going through for me honestly
I was thinking about the first fight
against Chantelle Cameron
earlier this morning
And there's some similarities.
That was the homecoming period.
And this is obviously the final fight, but in the venue that you always dreamed of fighting in.
Did you learn any lessons from that first fight against Chantel, that big homecoming and all the emotion that was involved that maybe will help you deal with the emotions of this week?
Yeah, you're dead right.
I think I've learned so much from that loss, I think.
And that's what loss is due, don't you?
You come back a better, a stronger fighter.
you come back.
That's where all the growth happens, I think, from losses, unfortunately.
But, yeah, I certainly have learned a lot from that.
And I don't want to get too emotional in the ring walk or just seeing, listen to the
crowd.
It's an amazing moment for me.
But at the same time, there would be enough time to look back and enough time to celebrate
the win after my hand is raised.
But I just have to be laser focus this week.
I've got a tough challenger in front of me, an undefeated challenger.
I have a chance to become a three-time
on the speed of chaper in this fight as well.
So my mind is fairly fixed on the fight
and I don't want to get too emotional
like I did, I think, in the first camera fight
and let all that take over.
I just have to laser focus on this fight.
How do you stop yourself though?
Because like we are human beings,
but sometimes we can't control our emotions.
So as you're walking out there
and the music is playing and you'll take in the 80,000
in the venue, how do you stop yourself
from not getting emotional?
Have you worked on any truth?
tricks to stop yourself from, you know, taking your mind elsewhere and feeling those emotions.
I haven't worked on any tricks or anything, but I think it's going to be an amazing night
for the Irish people and everyone is going to be celebrating the night and having a great night.
But I'll be in the dressing room as per usual, going through my usual routine.
And I just know that the most important thing on that night is that I get my hand raised.
And so I'm just going to be a walkout ring like I normally do and just be fixed on the
actual fight.
And so I haven't worked on any tricks yet, but I'm hoping that's, I'm hoping my focus will do the job.
Our good friend Pizzi Carroll, who you know as well has been teaching me about the history
of Croke Park and why this is so significant.
He, of course, lives in Dublin and has a great feature coming out on it on our website.
And he was telling me about the Muhammad Ali Tunnel.
Ali, of course, famously the last fighter to headline there back in 1972.
I was wondering, will you be walking out of that Ali tunnel as well?
Yeah, I'm not too sure, actually, but I know the tunnel that he's talking about
because the last time I was there, seen him to have that E tunnel.
I was obviously looking at the posters of him when I was in Pro Park the last time.
So it's very, very special that he's the last person I fought there in 1972,
and I get a chance of following the greatest of all times footsteps.
I'm not too sure if I'd be walking through that tunnel though, but either way, having a chance to follow in his footsteps is so, so special.
And actually, the most amazing part is that I think I was telling the last time, but I had a chance to meet Pai Dardy, who also bought on that card.
And he's actually going to be there a flight night as well.
So, yeah, incredible moments.
You know, we spoke to right before the tickets went on sale, and then we get these incredible facts and figures, 80,000 and 30 minutes.
Honestly, like, what was your expectations?
Like, were you blown away when you started to hear these numbers?
Completely blown away.
I don't think I ever expected that, to be honest.
I don't really know what I was expecting.
I knew as I was doing a bus tour around the country during that time,
that I was feeling that people's excitement.
I knew there was a buzz around the place.
But to hear that 80,000 tickets were sold in like 17 minutes or whatever,
I was completely just shocked and blown away by the support.
And I just don't take that support for granted neither that the supporters and the fans have traveled all around the world to watch me fighting.
They travel to London, Manchester, Wales, Brooklyn, New York, Dallas.
Now they're going to be here with me in Crow Park.
I'm just blown away by the support and I don't take it for granted.
Have you allowed yourself throughout the process of this final camp to smell the flowers
and almost acknowledged the last that you were experienced,
like the last sparring session, the last this,
and did those moments make you emotional at all?
This is the culmination of, as I said,
you don't need to say it, like,
one of the greatest careers, period,
from amateur all the way to pro, Olympics in between.
Did you acknowledge those?
Did you celebrate those as they were all coming to an end as well?
I think so, yeah.
I mean, I was only saying to my coach a day before my final spar on Friday.
Gosh, I can't believe this is going to be my final spar.
Wow.
I'm looking back at all the amazing spires I've had over the last three years
and all the amazing sparring partner, you know,
all the amazing people I've met, all the amazing sparring partners,
and all the amazing rounds that I put in.
I came to an end of Friday, my last ever spar.
Maybe not my last ever spar, but my last spar in training camp at least.
And, yeah, I am willing, you know,
I allowed myself to kind of to take that in.
And I'm just thank God.
for it all really.
And I really just went into the ring
on Friday and my last bar
and I said,
I'm just going to enjoy my last bar.
And just,
those moments along the way
or just like,
well, what an amazing journey,
30 years in the ring.
My first ever sparrow was a 10-year-old.
And, yeah,
just looking back on all the amazing people
I've actually met along the way,
it's been some career, some journey.
I did hear you say this
and I was wondering if you can expand on it.
Sometimes when we think of like the end, we get sad, but I've heard you tell reporters,
none of this makes you sad.
It only makes you grateful.
It makes you happy.
And I think more human beings need to have this perspective on life when a chapter ends,
not to be sad that it's over, but be thankful and grateful that it happened.
Have you always been that way?
Or is that just something you've developed over time?
Yeah, I think of I probably have always been that way.
I mean, I has to come to an end at some stage and looking back at all the amazing nights
that I've had.
And my career has been more than I ever could have imagined, really.
I obviously came up with a dream of being an Olympic champion that came to pass.
But these last 10 years, as a professional, I don't even think as a kid, I had the capacity
to dream these things, headline in Massachusetts Greg Gardner and a couple of occasions,
headline on Netflix, headline here in the tree arena, and a couple of times as well.
an end of my career in our most iconic arena in Crow Park.
This really is just being out of this world.
And I'm end of my career with just say a grateful full stop.
I can move on to the next chapter and look back with just a smile on my face.
Some people have said to me over the last few months,
it must be so bittersweet for you.
It's not bitter sweet for me.
It's just sweet looking back in the hardware.
So, yeah, I am very, very grateful for it all.
We are used to fighters saying goodbye
and then five, six, seven years
later coming back.
Can you say with great certainty
this is it for you?
Yeah, I can't see myself
coming back as a 45-year-old.
So I did just turn 40
a few months back.
So I think
it is the right time to step away
and just enjoy my life
but you just enjoy to produce my labour.
And yeah, you'll definitely want
see me coming back.
Walk on top.
Quo Park at the end of the day.
Sure, although you did fight on the, you know, the co-main event slot under a 50-something-year-old
Mike Tyson.
So, you know, less we forget, not that long ago.
I guess if the money's right.
For sure, for sure.
Uh-oh, now all the headlines tomorrow are going to be, Katie Taylor opens the door,
the comeback fight before the last one.
We don't want to do that.
By the way, being back, how long have you been, because I know the training camp is in
Connecticut, how long have you been back?
Like, when did you get to Ireland for this?
Yeah, so I got back to Ireland last Saturday, so I've been here for just over a week.
So I finished up my training camp here in Dublin.
And so it's been amazing to be home.
And I can feel the excitement for people.
The buzz around the country is so special.
I feel like there's murals going up everywhere from you at the moment.
It's a bit strange, but I can definitely feel the excitement of everyone.
This is going to be such a national event.
I hope this is going to be an event that people talk about.
for years and years and years ago.
One of my, you know, many favorite things about you is your humility, what I find so
impressive about you.
And I'm wondering how you deal with that stuff.
And in particular, like the video that Matcham posted yesterday, the tribute to you and champion
today, do you even allow yourself to watch that?
Because, again, I always wonder how a fighter before a retirement fight, when they're being
sort of celebrated with all these great montages and tributes, it softens you a little bit.
it makes you, as I said, emotional.
Do you even watch those things?
Do you want to watch those things?
Are you allowing yourself to enjoy it?
Or does it take you to a place where you don't want to be right now?
Yeah.
It depends, really.
I think I've watched a few minutes of those videos.
But I don't like to reflect too much right now because you can't have your foot
and your foot in retirement neither.
I have a job to do it at the end of the day and I have a real live opponent in front of me as well.
And the most important thing on Saturday Night is that I get my
hand raised and I'm very much, I'm very much aware of that.
But, yeah, so I don't know, I haven't really given, I've allowed myself to watch this
small, but not too much.
Okay.
As I'm saying, yeah.
That's what I thought as well.
You know, this past Saturday there was a great MVPW card, Shantel Cameron in the
main event against Michaela Mayer, and it's interesting that it happens, you know, a week
before your fight, MVP now really going all in on women's boxing.
I would imagine some 10 or so years ago
you never thought that there would be
an all women's promotion.
Ultimately, is that Katie's legacy in your opinion?
Is that your legacy in the game
or do you want it to be something greater than that?
The fact that you opened the door,
you blazed this trail for all these women
to now have this opportunity to have
this all women's promotion
or is it something greater?
Am I missing the point?
No, I think just looking at the progress
of women's boxing over the last 10 years,
I think that is my greatest legacy.
I just seen every single box in a gym
the whole country here, packed with female fighters, and even imagining in my mind's eye
on Saturday night that many little girls will be there for the first time watching a boxing
event, and maybe one of those little girls might fall in love with the sport, and maybe
they might surpass my achievements, and that's what legacy is all about as well. And so I think it
is definitely the greatest thing about this whole journey for me is seeing so many amazing
female fighters and that that show on Saturday even that you talk about was an amazing show,
some amazing matchups and that's exactly what we want to see in women's boxing.
That they're the kind of fights grow to sport and catch people's eyes and it makes people
fall in a little women's boxing.
That's exactly what we need in the sport.
We know about your previous football career.
I also know you to compete in Gaelic football as well, correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm trying to get the lingo down here.
So stop me if I'm saying this the wrong way.
The All-Ireland Finals is at Croke Park, right?
I'm getting that right.
That's correct, yeah.
Young Katie, did she dream of competing at the All-Ireland?
Was that even a possibility at Croke?
Is that where your love affair with Croke began, in other words?
Yeah, I think my love affair at Croke Park really came from watching all the
Ireland finals over the years.
But I never really dreamt of being there myself playing for Gaelic football.
I played for County Wick though, so they're not really a strong.
team in comparison to say
Kerry or Dublin or Mayo who just
won the Ireland finals
but yeah that's
a national event in itself to all
Ireland finals every single year. The whole country is
glued to that's their national sport
and that's where the culture and
the history of pro-practical comes from.
You mentioned earlier you don't know if there's another country
that would support a women's
event like your home country
of Ireland. Why do you think that is?
Why do you think you've had this connection with the country
that seems to be unbreakable?
I don't know.
I'm just blown away by the support.
They've been with me before the London Olympics.
They're with me during the Olympics.
They're with me through the heartbreak of Rio.
And they all stayed with me when I turn pro as well.
I'm not too sure what it is.
But one thing for sure is that I am just blown away by.
I'm so grateful for the support.
And we do have a history of getting behind our athletes.
very, very well.
I think the athlete that does well.
The whole country is buzzing and so excited for it.
And so I love that better country.
We really get behind our athletes.
I know that you train in Connecticut.
You've spent your last few years here.
Will Connecticut be home for you post-fighting
or now that you don't have to train anymore,
will you go back home?
Yeah, I don't know.
Actually, that's a probably conversation
that I should have with my husband as well.
Yes.
You guys haven't talked about that yet.
Yeah, we've spoken about it briefly over the last few months,
but he's certainly open to the prospect of a moving here to Ireland,
but he has a few kids as well.
So it's a bit tricky.
They're still in school.
And so, yeah, well, I guess we can figure all that out later on.
If it was up to you, would you like to go back home?
It was up to me.
Gosh, you're putting it on the spot here.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Right here is actually looking at me, but...
Oh, no, no, I don't want to make any trouble.
I just know you'd love to go to the grocery store and have no one bother you.
In Ireland, you can't probably do that, right?
Yeah, I mean, I live a fairly quiet life here in Ireland as well, but I do love home.
I love it here.
I love being surrounded by family as well.
So there's certain aspects of home in Ireland I absolutely miss.
and they will always be home to me.
So if it was my decision, I probably would move here to Ireland's.
But anyway, yeah, we'll see.
I'll let you go in a moment, but earlier in the show,
I was talking about the crazy amount of upsets
that we've seen in combat sports just this Saturday.
We saw Moses Atama shockingly lose to Philip Hergevich.
And so, you know, anything can happen in a fight, obviously.
Your opponent, Peeley, maybe not well-known,
but has an opportunity to spoil a very,
very big party. What concerns you most about her game? What could you tell us about what you know
about her? Yeah, no, absolutely. She's a young on the feet of fight herself. She's 12 and 0.
A hungry challenger. She's big as well for the weight. And so, yeah, I am expecting a very,
very tough fight. But I think I've built a reputation and taking a tough fights throughout my
whole career. And when I had that very tough 10-rounder against Pursune, I could,
could have easily moved on and looked at the next challenge but I wanted to sell it the hard way
the same with Serrano the same with Cameron and so why would I why would I choose an easy an easy
opponent in my last buy I wanted to take this hard challenge I think even when this fight
when this crow park was a was announced I had a couple of non-negotials from my last
fly I wanted to be in crow park and I wanted a tough opponent I wanted someone who's
who was going to be a huge challenger and I wanted to
something that's going to be on the line.
So here we are a few days away from hopefully becoming a three-time
under the field of champion again.
But Floripity is certainly a very, very tough challenge.
But I think that's where I'm at my best.
I have to say, I can't imagine being in your shoes right now with all the attention
five days before this big fight.
You seem very calm and relaxed and just in great spirits.
Doesn't seem like you're anxious, nervous.
It seems like you're really enjoying all of this.
Am I wrong?
Yeah, no, you're definitely correct.
But I am enjoying it at all.
this is my last fight and so I'm very,
being very intentional about enjoying the whole week
and all the hype and the attention at this event,
it's just business as per usual for me.
I don't really think too much about what's going on on the outside.
I don't even know what's going on.
I'm in a bubble here.
And so that's always the case for me.
I kind of lock myself away during training camp.
I don't know what's being said about the event or what's going on.
I'm not on social media,
and nothing like that.
So I just lock myself away,
preparing for another battle one last time.
And I'm so excited for this night.
I'm just so grateful.
It's such a privilege to be a headline
and such an amazing event.
And I'm certainly going to enjoy this week.
And what a privilege for us to have been able to watch you
and cover you and talk about you all these years.
I will be sad when it's over.
So appreciative for everything that you've done
for the sport, for journalists, for all of us.
and we thank you for those great memories and great fights
and for being so accessible over the years to us
with such thoughtful answers
and just such a joy to cover, honestly.
You know how I feel about you and your career.
It's been a real, real honor to be able to cover some of your big fights.
So thank you, Katie.
All the best to you, and good luck on Saturday.
Thanks so much, God best.
God bless you, too.
Good luck.
There she is.
The great Katie Taylor, kind enough to join us
on this Monday afternoon, Monday, evening in Ireland
before what figures to be a very emotional night
at Croke Park.
this Saturday.
You can watch it on DeZone.
Our own Pt Caryl is going to be there.
And he is joining us now to give us maybe a little bit more color on what is going down.
There he is.
From one patron saying to another.
How about that?
She's magic, isn't she?
God.
My God.
I love me.
I just point myself, watching the interview is just smiling like, this is great.
You know what I mean?
It's like a warm bat.
She really is.
You know, like.
you put it perfectly.
You watch the absolute dog S-H.
I don't even want to swear after, Katie,
that was that dual event on Saturday,
like the lowest of the low of combat,
and then you are exposed to her,
you talk to her, and you feel cleansed, right?
Like she is everything that's right,
that is everything that's wrong,
not to even put them in the same breath,
but it's nice to sometimes be able to talk about good people
and just, you know, great moments and great fights.
What's the temperature like?
How big of a deal is this?
What can you tell us?
RTE sport, right?
It's going to be, Eric, own broadcast team, or will they take the DeZone feed?
What's happening?
I think they'll probably have their own broadcast team.
I'll find out.
I'll make sure I'll let you know that later on in the week for sure.
But just to give people an idea, that means it's done in every home in Ireland.
Everybody wants to watch this fight.
I mean, even last week, things started to trickle in.
You could see the promotion.
But yesterday, we're watching TV.
advertisements coming up like Katie Taylor and Crowbar
big grand entrance for this beautiful stadium
this kind of monument to Irish history and culture
right in the middle of Dublin City
it's the only other fighter who has competed there
along with his opponent
Al-Lews is Mohammed Ali of course
and the undercard of what was there that night
but for Katie to get the recognition
of this stadium to compete at home like this
it really is a mark to how Irish people feel about her
I think she's given Irish people
so much, really, like, you know, for so many years.
Even the quest to make women's boxing an Olympic sport,
which wouldn't have happened without Katie Taylor,
she boxed in front of the IOC to make them make women's boxing and sport at the Olympics.
We were on that journey with her.
Then into the Olympics, winning gold, then 2016, the heartache,
then into this pro career.
I can remember being down at the county club, Brian Peters owns that place.
And she was kind of saying, I hope I can be what Rhonda Rousey is,
MMA while Holly home is in MMA and to think of what she's done ever since the Netflix
headlining Madison Square Garden twice and now this Crow Park is just an unbelievable unparalleled
career in other sports. She's the greatest Irish sports person ever as far as I'm concerned and
I really feel like this is Ireland's gift to Katie rather than Katie giving us something for once.
Wow. Well put and I can't wait to read your piece on this big fight coming out later this week on
uncrown.com. I'm sure you'll be talking about.
about it on the crack. We'll talk about it here as well. You'll be doing a post show pod from
Croke Park. You think you'll get emotional sitting there on Saturday night? Yeah, definitely.
It overcomes to these things. Like, I mean, in preparation for writing this piece, I went to Crowe Park.
And even this is a completely, like, it's not even empty. They were building the stage for the
weekend who was going to play the following day there. And even just sitting there and being kind
of immersed in the history of a place, it's very emotional place. Like,
you know, we have the names of men who died in that stadium when British forces opened fire.
The Hogan stand named after a man who died, a footballer who was playing that day.
There was 13 other people died that day.
This stadium, the GA itself was founded to promote the Irish identity in a time of British rule.
They wanted to restore indigenous sports, which had gone by the way,
so because of the influx of garrison games, soccer, rugby, cricket, that had come over with
British. It's now the fourth biggest stadium in Europe. You saw the scenes from Mayo and the
All-Earland back in July. The emotion attached to this place, what it means to people, the people
on the field aren't even playing for money. It's the pride, it's the colours on their back. It's an
incredible place. And honestly, like, I wouldn't be considered a GAA person, but I've got to
speak to some wonderful people over the last week or so putting this article together. And
it's very hard to put into words what this place means to Irish people.
Every Irish person knows what it means to them, but it's very hard to explain it.
It was only in, you know, obviously Ali fought there in the 70s, but there was a very strong
push against having any other kind of sport played there that wasn't a Gaelic game up until
2005.
Lansdown Road, which hosts the Irish rugby games and soccer games, was closed for renovation.
and then there became this issue like where else can we put all these people who want to watch these games?
The answer was Crow Park, but it took a massive, massive amount of effort for Crow Park to sign off on that,
to relax Rule 42, as they call it at the time.
The first game that was played outside of GAA games, the first kind of Garrison game,
rugby game that was played there was Ireland v England.
And there's a tremendous video of the English national anthem being played in Crowe Park for the first time.
So if you can imagine this stadium, this sport, this association is built in spite of those sports,
like as a defense of those sports to bring back what is Irish culture.
And there was all this worry about how will the Irish people observe God save the Queen as it was at that time.
But they observed it perfectly.
And then the complete silence as this thing is played.
And then they start playing our on the V and our national anthem.
And you see these massive men, I believe it was Rory Best, this massive hulk and figure.
It looks like something you'd see it on the door of a nightclub,
never mind on a pitch, just tears streaming down his face to be living this moment.
And Katie's getting that moment on Saturday night.
It's going to be absolutely incredible.
Can't wait for it.
Honestly, I have a lot of FOMO that you're going to be there because I wish I could be there as well.
By the way, there's 20 seconds left in our eBay auction if you want to get in there at the buzzer.
So if you're interested, 10 seconds, it might be too late now.
There's a link in the chat.
Great cause.
So shout out to all of you who have already.
bid. That is going to be amazing. I have FOMO. I wish I'm, I wish I was lucky enough to be there.
I am not. You are going to be there. I can't wait for the coverage. It's going to be amazing.
This gets me to Moses Atama though, guys, because we need to talk about what transpired on Saturday.
So I first saw a video of him doing an interview. You know, we love Moses. And I feel okay saying
that. You know, as my role in this crazy world of combat sports evolves, I have no problem
I'm saying like, I genuinely like this guy and I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm so captivated by him.
I find him to be such an interesting person as far as his interviews are concerned.
I find him to be so mature, so honest, so authentic, thoughtful, introspective, so impressive
for a 20, 21 year old man.
He did an interview with, um, with DZone where he talked earlier in the week about like,
you know, I've been better mentally and physically.
But it was sort of like a throwaway comment.
I saw that and I was like, okay, that's interesting.
He is a very honest guy.
He's a kid.
Most fighters wouldn't say that before a fight,
but he's freaking Moses a Tommy's going to go out there
and knock Philip Hergevich out and make history, right?
Then we get to the presser, and Hergevich isn't backing down.
Hergevich is standing toe to toe with him,
questioning him, poking him, ripping his shirt open,
showing off the physique, look to be an amazing.
shape, new team behind him. All right, Herkovich has come not to just take part in the festivities
and be just an opponent. He's coming out there to ruin this whole thing. Wow. Then you get to the
way in right here. Listen, listen. You're nothing F as special. You're nothing F is special.
Now watch this. Watch this. They face off. And then he pushes him off. That to me was a sign of. That to me was a sign of.
like, yo, you're getting frustrated.
What's happening?
And then the slap.
We had never seen this side of Moses.
Usually calm, cool, collected, unflappable, never shows any nerves.
Has headline the last few, but, you know, not against people like him, not against
seasoned veterans who are still in their prime.
Dillion White, seasoned veteran, but past his prime.
Jermaine Franklin, the big story was, could he stop him?
AJ didn't stop him.
Could he stop him?
He did.
But when I saw all this, I was like, and I did text the guys.
I'm feeling a little nervous, but still, gun to my head, mortgage on the line.
I was betting on Moses.
Sitting there on Saturday, he's about to walk out.
I tell my son, Ollie, you have to come watch.
Walter, my middle son, loves him, but wasn't home.
Ollie hasn't seen him yet, so I said, oh, you got to watch this guy.
Like, this is the guy that you should go tell your friends about.
Like, they're all talking about Jake Paul.
No, tell them about Moses, Zatama.
you will get to watch him make history
is just the second youngest heavyweight champion
of all time.
You need to watch this with me.
And as my other son was,
the first time he saw him,
my older son was.
Like, he was blown away
by the speed,
by the power,
by the ferocity.
I was like, okay, this is inevitable.
He's going to hit him
with one of those big uppercuts,
which he did.
He's going to hit him
with one of those big right hands,
which he did.
And he's going to knock him out.
The problem was he didn't knock him out.
The problem was
Philip Hergovich,
has a steel chin.
Yeah, okay, that's a knockdown, sure.
He's fine there.
Philip Hergevich not only was taking his best shots,
he was walking forward to it.
Look at that uppercut.
He took that shot and just walked to his corner.
And then all of a sudden, come the seventh,
come the sixth here as well,
but really the seventh, eighth,
he's slowing down.
But not only is he slowing down,
it would seem as though he was slowing down,
but then going for home runs.
Look how he's whiffing here.
Look at this.
That's not good.
He moved away from the jab, and in the ninth, the legs were gone.
He could hardly stand.
He's bouncing off the ropes, and I'm standing there being like, what is happening here?
Moses, what is happening here?
He could not stand.
For a second, I thought, is this rope a dope?
Nope, not rope a dope.
And then I see Ben Davison, corner of the screen with the towel, and I'm like, I can't believe this.
I swear I'm standing there yelling, what is happening?
and you see simultaneously the ref stopping the fight while the towel.
He stopped at first, really.
He stopped at first.
But it was inevitable.
One was coming first.
And it's one of the most shocking things that I've ever seen.
Because according to the three judges, two of them had him winning every single round.
One had him winning seven of eight.
I think he gave Hergevich the seventh or the eighth.
But let's be honest, it was one-way traffic.
Did Hergevich have moments?
Yeah.
His moments were taking all his punches
and then hitting him with a few more
and coming forward.
But this was Moses Atama 101.
The problem was, come the 8th,
he had never gone past the 6th.
Come the 8th, he was still going
for that big knockout punch.
Rather than saying, yo, I'm up.
I'm up eight rounds to none.
Jab my way to victory here.
I've got four rounds left.
Jab my way to victory.
Just do the smart thing.
He wanted the knockout.
He wanted the highlight.
And it completely gassed him.
out. It completely gassed him out to the point where he was stretchered out of the ring.
Now, afterwards, people are saying they pushed him too fast. No, they didn't. They didn't push him
too fast. He dominated that fight from beginning to end. He beat himself. He was done because of what
he tried to do. I'm not trying to take a thing away from Phil Bergevich. He stood there,
toe to toe, took his best shots and kept moving forward. But the reason why that fight was stopped was
not because of any big shot that Herkovich landed. It was because Moses had nothing
left to the point of exhaustion. He was taken to the hospital. He was released at about
5.30 the next morning, but he was absolutely spent. And I don't know if I've ever seen a
fight where someone was up that big and just sort of punched himself out of the fight.
And yeah, now there's going to be criticism of the training. There's going to be criticism.
A clip comes out where, you know, he tells talk sport, I do believe, I don't even spar 12 rounds.
You're in a 12 round fight. You should be sparring 12 rounds. There's going to be, you
criticisms of the conditioning.
People calling him soft now.
People saying he's a little too cocky.
People saying he's not active enough.
Look at this clip of him a couple years ago talking to Mike Tyson.
I believe in Saudi Arabia.
And look, this is the same thing as the Umar clip with song.
Where it's like, ah, after the fact you can pinpoint all these things.
And it's to a degree not fair, but it's also a little bit fair in that, yeah, there are signs
that sort of like come to roost in the aftermath.
and you say, yeah, there's like actual things
that need to be rectified here.
I think that this clip with Tyson is, you know, again,
a lesson, something that needs to change,
and it's actually a bigger lesson
about the state of boxing and fighting in the year 2026.
Take a listen.
Under my belt, now five, but I'm only time for January.
How many fights you get a year?
I'm thinking eight fights this year, eight fights next year,
and then we'll see where we'll come up with a.
But I want a quality fights, not eight months.
No, no, no.
No, no.
Any fight, squires, because anything can happen in here.
Yeah, of course.
Anything.
There's no such thing, it's bum.
I used to say people are bummed, but when I made that comeback to Fox Activition,
you realize there's no bomb.
That's hard work.
You can learn from every fight in there.
You can learn from every fight.
I can learn mostly from Watson.
We're thinking in the truth.
I appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Mike Tyson was 27-0 when he fought Trevor Burbeck.
bought Trevor Burbeck in November of 1986 for the WBC heavyweight title,
fight in which he won in the second round to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time,
20 years and 145 days.
Most of the time it was 14 and 0.
And you saw the mindset right there.
The mindset was like, hey, I don't want to fight bums.
And Tyson is like, there's no one who's a bum.
If you're stepping in there with another man, he is not a bum.
It's experience.
It's conditioning.
It's seeing how far you can go.
It's learning things.
It's all that stuff and more.
And in the end, that came to bite him in the butt.
Mosetama is going to be a generational grade.
If you are jumping off the Mosetama bandwagon, jump off, God bless.
But don't come back at this point.
You can't come back.
You just can't because it would be one of the stupidest things you could do as a fan.
Of course, people are going to call him a fraud now.
They're going to say that he's too cocky.
They're going to say that he was overhyped, all that stuff and more.
Come on.
If you just watch the end of the fight, okay, I can understand that.
If you've been watching his last few fights, and I think we've all been kind of paying attention to him since the very beginning, since he was around like four or five and oh, you realize just how good he is. But there's a lot more work to do. He's just 21. He is just 21. I don't think Queensberry put him in a tough spot. I don't think he shouldn't have been in there with Philip Hergovich. But I do think that it is fair to say in retrospect that, yeah, maybe he should have had more fights before getting to Philip Hergovich up until this point. And clearly the conditioning, clearly the experience.
as far as sparring, the rounds, all that and more, you know, should have been thought about differently.
But he'll be just fine. And he actually emerged yesterday to say this in the immediate aftermath of the fight.
So yesterday it wasn't my night. We attempted greatness and we just fell short to the more experienced man.
I want to say congratulations to Philip Hagerovich on his win. And although I never reached my desired outcome,
I believe I gained experience that I'll take to my future fights.
I want to thank the fans in and outside the arena,
you guys made it a little bit more special
and a little bit more electrifying than I expected.
It was a fucking good fight,
and I want to thank Queensbury and the Zone
for putting this show on.
So God bless, take care, and I'll be back.
Class.
No problem with that whatsoever.
Much respect, and he's right.
The atmosphere was great.
The walkout was great.
The fight was great.
It was riveting stuff.
And even like the Shakespearean end to it all was riveting in its own right.
Frank Warren, by the way, said afterwards that he injured his leg.
I'm told there was no leg injury.
He was just completely exhausted.
And you could tell Frank was, was devastated.
You could tell he was stupid.
Old Philip Herkovich is out there being like, take me to Croatia, Frank.
I want to fight Daniel DeBudy.
He's like, yeah, you're going to fight Frank Sanchez.
and you're going to fight where the fuck I tell you to fight, all right?
There's no rematch clause, by the way,
even though I'd love to see the rematch.
But what did you think, PTSYS, you were watching that?
Because I have to say, I was on my feet, yeah,
I don't remember ever seeing a fight in which someone was up so big
and then just completely zapped himself out.
Yeah, the thread was going.
We were all engaged with this fight, obviously.
But just around the sixth rounders, you highlighted there,
Herkovich is not doing anything crazy.
Like, he's hitting them back,
but it's it's Moses at that stage the way he's kind of he he's following his punches he can't stand
on his own two legs the momentum of his punches is nearly knocking him over and hergivitch starts to
land at the end of the sixth and i'm just kind of like i don't know if this guy can go till the end
of the fight you know like i don't know if he can do that um he didn't he didn't change the way he
thought like he was trying to throw hell marries the whole time um and as you're as you're watching it
you're kind of start going oh yeah no
stopped Tergovich against Dubois, didn't it?
You know, like, okay, he didn't,
he didn't get like, you know, Shadow Realm by Du Bois.
It was an incredible, like, that's boxing at its best,
regardless of what outcome you were hoped you would see.
Those moments, if you could,
if you could trap them in a bottle and reproduce them every weekend,
every remote would be a billionaire.
But it was just, it was outstanding.
I do think, right, I don't want to go best case scenario.
All right, Rick, I'm not going to take your line here.
But the silver
said it at lunch.
Ah shit.
The silver lining, I would say, is
Moses felt completely removed
from the other conversations
that were happening
between these great British heavyweights.
Definitely out with the question
for Fury and Joshua.
But for the other two men
who are in the ring that are now facing off,
Dubois, Fabio Wardley,
if you throw him into that situation there,
things get very, very interesting.
Like, I am far from off the band,
I completely agree with you.
This guy is a generational talent.
I think he probably needs to learn how to coast
and maybe fight in a different way.
But I think this makes him more accessible
to a lot of people that didn't even feel
like they were in the same realm of.
For some reason,
we were never really hearing conversations
about Moses fighting these other two guys.
But I think a fight like this kind of opens him up to that.
If not, obviously I'm not saying the next fight,
there is some rebuilding to do here,
but suddenly he seems more accessible to the likes of Wardley and Dubois.
And those are both fights that I absolutely love to
G.C., I know you love Moses as well. I want to read this tweet from Steve Bunce, who does a tremendous
job, a boxing historian, covers boxing for the BBC, has a great boxing podcast, BBC 5 Live.
Everyone's having a hot take on this, a great explanation. I thought his tweet was perfect,
and his tweet was, in the aftermath, there does not always have to be blame or an excuse for a defeat.
Men and women lose fights. It's the boxing business. Look at history. Read a book, listen to veteran
fighters. If your prediction was wildly wrong, live with it, it happens. And that's a
it. It's just, he just lost. Like, it doesn't have to be some great conspiracy, some great,
oh, this, that, or the other, he got freaking tired and it's very clear what happened. He punched
himself out and the experience, or lack thereof, came to bite him in the butt. What are you
thinking as you're watching this? Yeah, the skills are obviously there. Even against a guy as good
as Philip Herkovich, you know, this was the first real test we were seeing him going against a chance
to become the second youngest heavyweight champion of all time. The skills are there. The speed is
there. The power is there. Philip Hergevich just has
an unbelievable chin.
He has to work on the gas tank. It's clear
the issue. That's what it is. What'd you
say? Two judges had every single round
for him, one, eight of them.
Yeah. Yeah, I mean,
got to get the gas tank better.
Also have to get the strategy
better if you're not knocking the guy
out to be able to go those full 12 rounds.
If we can see him go 12 full
rounds and win the fight,
I will feel very high for his future.
But yeah, there's issues that need to be
fixed and good news, he's 21 years old, he'll be able to fix him.
There was a shift at some point in combat sports where
undefeated became the most important thing in combat sports.
Everybody's seeking to keep...
Boxing maybe?
Boxing and M.M.A. No, I think M.MA as well. Think of the reaction to
Ilya's Loss. Every time somebody who's undefeated loses, it feels like the sky is falling.
Meanwhile, back in the actual like, you know, the golden era of...
of boxing.
Guys were fighting each other.
Guys would lose.
They'd bounce back.
It was a sign of character.
It was a sign of showing your medal and what you're made of.
We shifted at some point and I think it was around, you know, obviously like earlier than Floyd
Mayweather, earlier than Habib, but that is when it kind of peaked.
That was the pinnacle of it because there was now an example, a career that you could point
to where you're talking about one of the greatest fighters of all time was able to navigate
the career and successfully come out undefeated.
And it just became this thing that became aspirational.
I feel not much different about Moses and Thomas prospects sitting here today.
I thought that, like, the early part of that fight, I'm looking at a guy who does things that I just can't believe.
Like, he is an absolutely electric fighter.
He has some things to fix, but I feel just as good about his future prospects.
I think he can beat anybody on this planet.
And so I'd like to see him try that.
And the fact that he's lost, as Petey said, I'm not going to say best case scenario, but it takes a pressure off that I think a lot of fighters have to deal with and can kind of be consumed by, this idea of you have to
to be undefeated. You have to go throughout your career and you could only fight these top
guys and kind of carefully navigate the career. It's not going to happen. It is just not going
to happen. Floyd Mayweather is the exception. Habib is the exception. You must fight tough
fights and you will lose. And how you bounce back from them is how we learn about the character
of these fighters. You're 100% right. By the way, you'll laugh at me for saying this, but
it's not the best thing to happen to best. But like, as a 21-year-old, I could see it,
where now the undefeated thing is gone,
the pressure of being the youngest or second youngest is gone,
just go out there and do your thing.
And like, here's the difference.
I don't agree with Ilya getting exposed.
Like, he had a bad night at the office
and a lot of things were going on in his life.
But Ilya kind of got beat up.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, yeah.
Moses didn't get beat up.
He didn't even get really caught.
You know what I mean?
He gassed himself out, right?
It was not.
He was just done.
He was just done.
It was a wild saying.
When he hit the drunk uncle Lee, I was like, this guy is cooked.
It was wild, but look, credit to the ref and credit to Ben Davison in the sense that he was a punch away of getting knocked out cold.
And that could be very dangerous when you're in that state of exhaustion.
Thank God he's okay.
You see him there the next day.
So it was the right stoppage, 100%.
And again, I keep saying, credit to Phil for taking the punches and for keep on coming and not giving up and not getting knocked out.
But it wasn't like this guy got like, holy shit, here we are.
We're about to experience the greatest night ever.
he got freaking walloped, right?
Like, Patty getting beat up
against Justin Gatchee.
That didn't happen.
He just gassed out.
Like, it was frustrating
in the eighth or so round.
And there was one moment,
I don't know if you guys remember this,
where Davidson's like,
are you listening to me?
Yeah.
Because it felt like he was just going for it.
He was not using any jabs
to set anything up.
Just like, man, just coast, as you say.
Maybe it wouldn't have been
the most exciting thing,
but he's a kid,
and he wanted the great knockout,
he wanted the moment,
he wanted to take this guy's head off,
He didn't like him clearly.
He was annoyed by him, and he made a crucial error.
He just gassed out.
That was it.
That's the story of the fight.
I would love to see them run it back.
100%.
A big mistake so soon.
But give me that fight in like a year or two, man, maybe too soon.
Anytime.
No, no, no, I don't think it's true.
Not straight away.
I think he needs one in between for sure.
But to your point, the skills are there.
This wasn't like Bellamere last week where the fight started.
And then it's like, oh, you know, maybe she isn't ready for the.
this. And then it goes on for the three rounds and it's like, oh, yeah, she probably just is not
ready for the UFC level yet. Atoma has the skills to be a world championship boxer.
He just has to fix the cardio. It's an experience. He's got to spar more rounds too.
It's also just how to use his output though. That's it. For sure. The way he's throwing digs,
man, like, they're unbelievable to watch. Like, I mean, as you're watching these things early on,
you're going, holy shit, like, I've never seen anything like this. His movement, the
off the punches, everything.
But then when it goes wrong,
the drunken uncle.
It's crazy.
But if you're never sparring 12 rounds
or never fighting 12 rounds,
you don't know.
You don't know that.
You've never felt that feeling.
And now he's felt it.
He's never felt that.
I can't even imagine what he was feeling.
Just lungs completely shot,
legs completely gone.
If you ever hear fighters talk about
what it feels like to gas out,
it's like a creeping death.
They talk about it like it is actually like hell on earth.
God, I can't imagine.
You're helpless because you know you're good, but you can't be good in that moment.
They are just come.
The demons are coming for you and you are screwed.
You have nothing.
It's like a seat paralysis.
Yeah, this giant Croatian eating everything across from you.
Even though, even as he was doing the drunk uncle in and he landed that right as he was like, falling away.
Herkovich is just like, all right?
Just keeps right on moving forward.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That upper cut was like
No
I honestly thought it was inevitable
We were sort of arguing about
I thought he was going to knock him out
I thought eighth round ninth round it was coming
And then just like that
And crazy that the chin was such a big talking point
Leading up to the fight
Of it would be like most essentially being like
You talk about your chin like it's some great ass head
Like what do you talk about it?
And then it's like it actually was
It actually freaking was
God it was fantastic
It was it was so much fun to watch
My God, it was amazing.
The walkout was great.
The scene there was great.
Broadcast was fun as well.
Shout out to Adé and the team.
Dubois and Wardley beforehand, the face-to-face that they had.
Give me some of that shit.
No, no, no, no, no.
We got to go sound full on this.
We need the sound full.
No, no, from the top.
From the top.
That's the best part that's bearing the lead.
Tell me when you're ready, and I will lay out.
All right?
Tell me when you're ready.
This is the best line ever from Daniel Dubois in three, two.
Let's see
Give me some of that face-to-face shit, boy
I'm getting out of it
So I'm going to take it away
Yeah
I was like settle down there, young man
Look at these two
London
It's the challenger
At former heavyweight
World Champion
Fabby O Wardley
Yeah
Yeah
Emotion
The T-shirt
Yeah
Heavyweight
Champion of the World
World ShrepleDier.
God, if you missed their first fight earlier in the year,
maybe the fight of the year,
and they're doing it again some six months later,
back at the O2, heavyweight division.
So good right now in boxing,
with or without Usoc and this A.J. Fury nonsense.
That was amazing.
They actually did a thing where they announced like three fights
all over the arena there,
and everyone was standing next to each other.
Yeah, it was great.
It was great theater.
Moses. What are we going to do?
Nothing. He's going to bounce back and
be a champion. Back in six months?
Plus or minus?
I think so. Why not?
I mean, to your point, he didn't get
knocked out cold. He got exhausted.
He can come back from this.
Here's Alexander Usik weighing
in after the fight. This is what he had to say.
The Atama Hergevich fight is another reminder
of how unpredictable boxing can be.
Anything can happen once you step into
that ring. Nothing like that has ever
happened to Alexander Usik.
But he obviously has seen and done it all.
congratulations Philip on a great victory Moses this is not the end come back stronger keep moving forward
your journey has only just begun he's a thousand percent right he's so so young he's so talented
and I really do hope that there's no like drastic changes as far like don't get rid of the team
and I'll stick with these guys figure it out he's got a great team behind him everyone jumps on
the bandwagon of like oh these guys are you know they didn't prepare him they got exposed
Ben Davis and Lee Wiley are two of the very best and smartest in boxing.
Like right now in the UK, it's them, Andy Lee, obviously, in Ireland.
Brilliant, brilliant minds.
Just the cardinal sin.
And he was trying to get him to calm down.
He was trying to get him to calm down, but it just didn't happen.
It was theater at its finest.
I honestly was speechless watching all that.
I could not believe.
I would have bet everything.
I've been so wrong with some of these.
Although I did call song
Did I not call song?
I did call song
There are receipts of this
Now I didn't do it publicly
Let's go back to that real quickly
By the way
I told you John Jones was in attendance
And he was loving
All the sights and sounds
In Shanghai
He even got a nice little kiss
Over in Shanghai
I don't know if you guys saw this
But here's a fan
John
Welcome to Shanghai
Welcome China
I love you
You are God
on number one
Oh
He gave the kiss
More so than the other guy
Kiss again
What's this new thing
That John is doing
What is that?
It's a heart
Yeah
Oh
I thought he's like asking for money
No no a heart
Frank what's that laugh
Because we did that
At the Omikaze
Now I'm remembering it
Yeah
We had the same
Next time I'm gonna be like
No man
I'm gonna wait for you
To ask me again
In three months
Okay my bet
You're right
I thought he was asking for money for a kiss?
I don't know.
No, he did it on the broadcast.
I thought he was saying, like, pay me.
It's a heart.
Yeah.
So that was nice.
I guess we might as well, like, finish the whole underdog story with what happened on Saturday.
How do we describe what happened on Saturday?
Well, let's start with Thursday.
Saturday night, that is.
Let's start with Thursday.
We get the inevitable news that Dylan Dennis is not fighting.
Mike Perry.
It's a shame.
They were fun on the show together.
It seemed like an interesting test for both.
Not happening.
Everyone seemed to think that it wasn't going to happen to begin with.
Perry's very upset.
They get Brandon Jenkins.
And this was super weird.
Like a lot of it was weird.
The video of Mike finding out about the Switch was weird.
Take a look at this from his YouTube channel.
What do you think about?
He's a fucking bitch, dude.
What the fuck?
Dude, I was so great.
Ready dude.
Oh boy, doesn't look like he's gonna show up to this fight.
No way, dude!
The good news is that we have a replacement for you.
It's Brandon Jenkins.
I know that man.
You would have to take a catch weight of like 185.
Bro, I'm 176 right now.
This is a fucked up situation.
Yeah, so...
So I won't be cutting weight tonight.
Orlando wants blood.
And I'm gonna fucking give it to him. I'm gonna knock him the fuck out no matter what it is
He ain't that fucking big. He's small so he can definitely make 180
The thing about it is is 50 50 entire time so we already kind of knew no I
I thought he was coming
Fuck it we go and fight on Saturday against whoever
This pussy-ass bitch Dylan Dennis didn't show the fuck up
You back the fuck out because he's a pussy
It's proved a lot of people right a lot of people said he
He wasn't coming and he played these games.
He doesn't want to get in there with the most violent motherfucker.
This is Thursday.
He's not even in Orlando.
What took them so long to pull the plug?
My understanding was he was a nightmare to deal with as far as the media beforehand was concerned, like their countdown show and all that.
Why did it take so long for them to pull the plug?
Well, here is moments after all of this comes out, Dylan Dennis on social media posting his injury, which a lot, I mean, that is gruesome shit.
There's no doubt about it.
Are people talking about this happening before or after?
Oh, God.
Is it an old injury?
That's what he is saying caused him to pull out.
All right.
So they get Brandon Jenkins who was on that MVP card.
This dual arena promotion, which I guess dual is some sort of betting company,
then proceeds to freaking lose their minds.
Their social media, that is.
And like, I think they think that they're trying to be cool and smart and like edgy, hip, as the old folks likes to say.
But they post this on social media regarding, like, the poster and they like cross out Dennis's face.
He then uses this to say, I am the show.
I reported that Perry was getting 50% of his pay as a result of no Dennis.
They moved the fight from pay per se.
to free streaming.
Here's Danis reacting to that news.
I'm the Red Panny Night without me.
There is no show.
It's explained to me that, hey, look,
they're going to take a bath.
No pay-per-view anymore.
Like, you had to know.
You had to know.
If I was Mike Perry, I wouldn't have agreed to it.
I would have said, peace, I'm out.
I ain't taking 50% because you guys bet on Dylan Danis showing up.
The least reliable thing in combat sports.
But everything about this event was a total joke.
an embarrassment.
They post this on Fight Day regarding Danis and his mom.
After Dylan Dennis pulled out, we didn't want to have the event without any of his family
present.
Thankfully, she flew in before Dylan herself announcing Dylan Dennis' mother as a special guest.
This is embarrassing shit, man.
And I know I'm not, like, I'm trying to hold them to a standard, like other promotions
that we cover.
I tuned in for a second.
I was thoroughly embarrassed.
This was gutter shit.
This was like the lowest of the low of combat.
sports. And I'd even know about all this like crusader, Azale, Jake Shields. This, this thing that
we're doing in combat sports where we're trying to let, like, play out wars and religious
conflict and people dying and turn these things into an angle and into a gimmick that will be
played out in these shitty rings for these shitty promotions is so freaking embarrassing.
And someone, someone sent me like a bunch of stuff as like, aren't you upset about this?
aren't you mad as a Jew to see this stuff playing out?
And I said, no, this is like smut porn.
I don't get mad about that.
I'm not going to get mad about this.
I couldn't care less about this.
Just because this is disguised as combat sports,
doesn't mean that I have to care about it.
I cared about it because it was Mike Perry versus Dylan Dennis.
That to me was worth caring about.
The rest was absolute nonsense.
Drivel, as they say.
So beneath all of us and embarrassing.
I can't believe the Kia Center
the home of the Orlando Magic
hosted this event
and the way this promotion was acting
on social media
and by the way I reached out
to a bunch of people regarding it
and everyone was kind of like holding their hands
like I have nothing to do with this
well you were sort of involved
anyone who was involved
should be embarrassed
should absolutely be embarrassed
that was
gutter
shit
like the worst of the worst
I saw some clips of guys
dress, like, what was all of that? And then it ends with Perry blowing his shoulder out and losing,
and like, ugh, all of it just left the worst taste in my mouth. Mike Perry going from the Netflix
card to that was awful. I like Perry's team a lot. They shouldn't have put him on that card.
I'm sorry. Mike Perry is above all of that at this point. Mike Perry should not be on that card.
I don't care what the pay is. He should not be on that card. You can't go from Netflix.
Nate Diaz to that.
I never heard of dual before.
I never heard of any of these people on this card
other than Perry and Dennis.
I knew of like Phil Roe and some of these guys,
Alex Nicholson,
none of them should have been involved.
It was absolutely positively
the most embarrassing crap
and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves
and I hate the fact that Mike Perry lost on that card.
This guy's on such a run.
He's done all the right things
to reinvent himself, reinvent his career,
and the fact that he was even like soiled by any of this.
And I told him this yesterday.
Like, this ain't a loss to me.
You did not lose.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Brandon Jenkins,
but he didn't win that fight.
Mike Perry injured his shoulder throwing a punch.
It sucks.
But we've seen injuries where someone gets like leg kicked
and tears their ACL or gets,
and then we've seen injuries where people just like do the wrong thing and get hurt.
There's different losses in this sport.
Disagree with me all you want.
There are different losses in this sport.
That to me was not a loss.
They could run a back, no problem, see who the better man is.
But that to me was not a loss.
He did not get hurt as a result of anything Brandon Jenkins did.
They tried to get Tyrone Woodley.
They tried to get Nick Diaz to step in on short notice.
That's what they said afterwards.
What was all that?
Please go away.
No one wants this.
No one wants this.
All this crap, please end it.
I'm so tired of all this crap.
Like I have no problem with influencer fighting and stuff like that.
But this wasn't that.
This was like this was lower than that and for someone like Mike Perry to be involved in something like this
To me
He deserves better
He deserves better
He did tweet I think today about all of it
This is what he had to say
Health is wealth the MMA lifestyle taking care of the body mind and spirit
The gym helps the process of growing your strength
But strength is needed in other areas of life and should be exercised everywhere we go
organize be consistent more recovery and stretching taking knowledge into my future endeavors more work
or excuse me more to work for more work to do so a sensible take from mike uh danis and uh Nate Diaz going
back and forth in the midst of all this Nate saying huge P word danis replying the human
punching bag that can talk you turn down over a million dollar offers to fight me on multiple
occasion. So shut your bitch ass up before I go to Stockton and bitch slap you and your brother.
You abandoned on the street. That's why security has to keep you too separated, unloyal, whatever.
Anyone else depressed watching any of this stuff? Or was it just me? I'm just seeing clips. I didn't watch it.
But like just seeing the clips. It looked like crap, by the way. It was dark. Yeah. Yeah.
How did the Kia Center allow this? I mean, if you put up the month,
money. Yeah. No, no. Well, they had to pay the venue, but. Also, didn't they have to take it off
pay-per-view as well? It did. Yeah. It generated any money. I have to admit, I only knew about Mike and
Dylan. And then we kind of started to see more and more. And I was like, oh, that's what this is
about. And I was like, damn, to your point, I do feel like Mike, even Dylan is probably above this.
Like this is not real stuff.
And so the more and more, like the closer I got to the fight time and then I'm like, oh, this is what they're doing.
Okay.
And didn't really pay much attention beyond that.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I feel bad for Mike.
Like, he doesn't deserve that.
And I know he was put in a tough spot.
Easy for me to say, I wish he would have just said, like, I'm out of here.
This is embarrassing.
You know what I mean?
Well, what they were trying to explain was like, hey, it's not going to be on pay-per-view anymore.
We lost the big name.
And my thinking was you sold tickets already.
You know what I mean?
Like it's not Mike's fault.
Now, if I were Mike in his team, I would have not agreed to it.
Honestly, I wouldn't have.
I would, sometimes I think you have to take the stand and be like, yo, we're not
fighting for 50% of what we agreed to be here for.
That's it.
Who cares who the opponent is?
It's not our fault.
But if you did the camp and you put it in the time, like, you have to get it back.
I know.
This is the bad part of the fight game.
it should have been a guaranteed number that couldn't have changed based on that.
But then we get into the scenario where it's like, do they have that type of money?
Maybe if they promise one guaranteed figure and then they don't fulfill that obligation, it's a messy.
When you're doing these types of deals with promotions that are not established in this realm, it gets real wonky.
It gets dicey.
It is below Mike Perry.
That is the best way to encapsulate it.
You said it perfectly.
You know, like last week we had brand risk, and I don't have any interest in that, but like Mike Perry's not on that card.
You know what I mean?
And so I feel like it was on our radar because of Perry and to a degree, Dennis, he shouldn't have been on that card.
By the way, I'm not blaming him.
It's in Orlando.
Yeah.
They were paying him a lot of money.
Dennis is a fine opponent for him to fight.
Yep.
But it's just, I didn't realize it was just a cast of idiots surrounding him, like true idiots.
Well, to Rick's point, what he said earlier is that he didn't know anything beyond
Danison Perry.
That's the only reason it was on our radar.
We would have said zero words about it.
I saw this thing between this guy, Azale and Crusade.
I'm like, what is this?
See, I don't even know what that is.
Good for you.
You're lucky.
You're lucky.
You felt like a fever dream.
You know, we're dropping in different things in the chat.
Like the Dylan Dana's mom thing.
I was like, is this actually real?
And then there were a few other things you guys dropped down.
Oh, my God.
There was other posts.
I was going, oh, yeah.
The Patrick Clark thing.
Crazy racist.
post. I was like, is this from the real account?
What is going on over that?
Oh my God. Yeah. Just
insanely racist stuff.
No.
I mean, I hate to say it, but is Dennis the smartest one of them all to get out of being involved with this shit?
Honestly.
What happened? Do we have an explanation of how the arm got like that?
No. He actually sent it to me on Twitter and then I wrote back what happened and I didn't get a reply.
That was gnarly.
Yeah, it's gross.
But then someone posted an old.
interview where he had a scar there.
So who knows?
It felt to me like he had turned the corner a little bit because he had showed up to
these RAF events in matches where you thought he had very little chance of winning.
I suspect he needs to make money some way somehow.
So I kind of felt like once he showed up to our thing, he seemed to be in good form.
He was on time.
I was like, all right, this is happening.
And then, right.
Well, that was very, that was depressing.
You know what could have been depressing?
and wasn't.
Glover Tashara
versus Shogunhu in a boxing match.
They went toe to toe in this
spat in fight night,
and it wasn't like
Anderson Silva versus
Chil Sunn in a couple years ago.
It was a legit boxing match,
and I got to say,
the legends did okay.
Listen, it's a very respectful...
If you're going to fight
spotting fight night,
you're going to wear the damn uniform.
Yeah.
The green and the white?
The green and gold
befitting of a spot and fight night champion.
Hell yeah.
Look at Glover going to the body there.
Yo, Glover, that whole gym, hands.
Yeah.
Plino's working on his boxing.
Yeah.
Oh my God, could you imagine?
Anyway, Glover got the win in case you were wondering.
He defeated Shogunhu.
So that also happened on Saturday.
And what about old BKFC, the, what is it, the Boston Herald reporting?
Or is it the Globe?
One of those two.
The Herald reporting that 14,000, approximate number, but I'd heard 12 to 14,000 to 14,000.
in attendance at Fenway Park
for a BKFC event there
at the hallowed grounds
of Fenway Park
home of the Boston Red Sox
How great was this
Some beautiful scenes
We have a couple pictures, I think
Do we have pictures?
Or not?
Maybe we do.
Yeah, look at this.
This is great.
Good for BKFC.
Who would have thought?
Some, I don't know,
two years ago
that they can hold an event at Fenway Park.
And to me, the most interesting part of the event was the return of Joe Lozon, the UFC veteran,
who he had not seen in action since 2019.
There was some talk of him fighting in 2022, didn't come to fruition.
Massachusetts guy, Boston guy, who had carried the flag for so many years.
UFC 118 will never forget at the first UFC show in Boston.
Here he is fighting at Fenway Park.
I can't imagine what the feeling was like.
He's kind enough to join us right here and now to talk about it all.
There he is.
Hello, Joe.
How are you?
Good, how's going?
It's great to have you back on.
It's been a minute, as they say.
I was, I wasn't sure what to think when I saw Joe Lozon, BKFC, Fenway Park,
and there it was, and you got the win.
Tell us, what was the experience like?
What was it all like for you?
It was awesome.
You know, I wasn't sure how it was going to go, you know, fighting with no gloves.
You know, I hear all these things about people hurting their hands.
But it went really, really smooth.
Everything was fun.
You know, BKFC did a great job.
Everything was running really professionally, good communication.
it was awesome.
It was unbelievable to fight at Fenway Park.
Fenway Park like outside, front of a home crowd.
It was, everything was just awesome.
If this fight wasn't happening at Fenway Park, are you doing BKFC?
Probably not.
You know, I mean, I just, I mean, I didn't know if I was, I never said I was going to retire.
I never said I was definitely retired.
I never said I wasn't going to be retired.
I never said either way.
But I really, the big appeal for me was Fenway Park.
You know, doing a BKFC was like a lot of really cool first.
Like, I've never done boxing.
I've never fought bare knuckle.
I've never fought outside.
There were a lot of really cool parts to it.
So the entire package kind of hooked me.
But if it wasn't at Fenway, they probably wouldn't have enticed me as much.
So how did this work?
They reached out to you once they announced this.
You reached out to them.
How did it all go down?
So they reached out to me.
It sounds like they weren't going to have the show if I wasn't on the card.
It sounds like they really, really wanted me.
I don't know if it was someone at Fenway wanted me or how it worked out.
But I had a couple of people say that, you know,
I was kind of like the, I was kind of the piece.
that brought it together for them to have a show at Fenway.
So that was pretty cool to hear.
You know, but I definitely, you know, I had a really, really great time every step of the way.
They talked to me the first time back in like, I think end of April, early May, and say,
hey, we're thinking about doing a show at Fenway.
We don't know what's going to happen, but we're interested.
And I was like, eh, maybe, I don't know.
We went back and forth a couple times.
And we just, you know, they locked it in.
They said, if you're in, then we're going to do the show.
Wow.
I said, okay, let's do it.
And it just worked out.
Great.
By the way, that's a lot of leverage for you to know that beforehand, right?
I mean, I hope you got paid for that.
Yeah, I mean, it was okay.
I mean, it really, it's not about the money.
You know, I had, obviously, I wanted to be paid for what I was doing, but the big thing was
finding at Fenway Park.
Like, I've got two gyms, both gyms are doing great.
Like, it's not, like, I've kind of, like, I'd kind of move past, like, the fighter,
like, phase of my life, I thought, and just kind of focus on the gym and I was teaching
kids classes and I'm, I'm training all the time.
But it's definitely different when you have,
a fight coming up versus when you don't have a fight coming up.
And so what kind of shape were you in when you got this initial call?
Terrible shape.
I mean, I'm always in the gym.
I'm always in the gym, but I had not been doing strength conditioning for a while.
My weight was high.
I was like, so I always fought at 155.
And I was at like, you know, and I always walked at like 173, 174, like year round.
I was never higher than that ever.
And then when it got to be like fight week, I'd be down to like 68, 69, and I would cut to 55.
It's very, very easy, you know, easy cut, not doing anything.
crazy, but that was like a pretty good cut for me.
For this, when I think when they first called me, I was like 192.
And like, I didn't like, I wasn't like super fat, but I had a little belly.
You know, like, I was just, I was out of, I was out of like doing string fishing all the time.
I was out of like, oh, when I get hurt, I'm just going to rest.
Oh, my shoulder hurts.
I'm going to rest.
I don't have to train.
You know, so I was kind of in dad mode a little bit.
So I basically like, I didn't do anything crazy.
Like, you know, I wanted to fight at 165 instead because I don't want to make this be a fat camp.
I want this to be fight camp.
I want to, like, not be miserable making weight.
I want to just, you know, I want to just like get in there.
So I figured I'll diet down to 75, 76, and we'll fight at 65.
So that was, that was the plan.
Okay.
How difficult was it?
Very easy.
Very easy.
I was like, I was down to like, I was getting almost like too late.
I was getting down to like 73, 74, like starting like maybe like three or four weeks out.
So I started just up my food, you know, which is not a bad thing.
I felt fine being 75-76, but I just started eating a lot more,
eating bigger portions, you don't have more protein, things like that.
Pretty easy.
Then the fight got moved last minute.
I cut from, I was 174 on Thursday, and I cut down to 66 for Friday morning.
And then a couple hours later, they said, you know,
they wonder if we moved the fight a little bit because he was having trouble cut weight and stuff like that.
So we moved it to 171, and then we both waited at like 68, 69.
So it wasn't, it was very, very easy all the way through.
And in terms of the preparation, you said you'd never had a boxing match before.
Did you actually hit Mitz bare knuckle?
Did you do anything?
Or was the first time that you actually hit someone bare knuckle or hit anything bare knuckle was on Saturday?
The first time I didn't have anything bare knuckle was Saturday.
Wow.
Literally the very first time.
I never hit Mitz.
I basically, so I have like, I think I have a kind of like not softer hands, but I'm a little bit picky when it comes to boxing gloves.
Like I have like some Everlasts.
It was like the ProTex 3.
They're like tons of padding in them.
They're like,
they're like very,
very puffy 60 ounce gloves.
Tons of padding.
And they're like my favorite gloves ever.
And like when this came about,
I started hopping on eBay.
I was trying to find a fresh pair of them.
I couldn't find them.
I had to find like my old pair of gloves and put like,
you know,
new Velcro on them because they were beat up and whatever.
But I basically hit gloves.
I hit Mitz like it was 60 ounce gloves
with handwaps all the way through.
And then on Fight Night we hit Mitz a couple,
we hit for a couple minutes with just MMA gloves.
That was what we did.
on fight night.
And then I hit,
I feel like maybe three combinations
with no gloves right before the fight.
That was the first time
I'd ever punched anything,
no gloves.
I was honestly a little worried
that I was gonna like,
hurt my wrist really bad.
I hurt my hand really bad.
So I wanted to just be as healthy as possible.
I didn't think I had time
to condition my hands
and all this other stuff.
I think just like going as healthy
as I could and just go from there
and see how it plays out.
And if I hurt my hand,
I hurt my hand.
But like I cracked,
I cracked him so many times.
My hands feel fine.
They don't like they're no more, no more sore than any of my UFC fights.
I was, I was shocked by it.
That was like, that was my big thing.
I don't want to break my hand.
I don't want to break my hand.
But it was fine.
How does your face feel?
My face feels fine.
It doesn't look real good.
Oh, my dear.
Wow.
Holy shit.
This eye is like swollen shut.
Okay.
Like I can't, I can see out the eye.
I got like my hole.
Like I can see out my eye.
But like totally swollen shot.
Like I can, it's a lot of effort to keep the eyelid open.
Oh, wow.
I'm an ice on my face.
but just whatever. It doesn't, I have zero pain, though. It doesn't hurt at all. The very first punch
of the fight he threw, hit me with a jab in the very beginning. And I felt like his knuckle,
like, hit my cheek and kind of like skirt off from the side. And I could feel it swelling,
like right away, like the very first punch of the fight. I'm like, oh, this is not what I want.
But, you know, then I think after I docked him down, the first or second time, he hit me a couple
times, but not, never super clean, Nick. It's crazy. I saw him after the fight. I dropped him
five times in the fight. He didn't get up on the fifth, but I dropped him five times. He did not
buckle me the slightest bit, and my face looks like I've been in a car crash, and his face is
unfazed, like untouched. It's just, it's wild. I think maybe because I hit him, I landed solid
shots at him, whereas he hit me with grazing shots. Maybe the grazing shots are worse. I don't know,
But my face got messed up, but his face looked fine.
By the way, how old are your kids now?
Eight and 12.
Okay, so the last time you fought 2019, they were pretty young, probably don't remember much.
I'm just curious, they obviously are cognizant of what's going on.
How are they reacting to you looking this way?
So my eight-year-old Jake, he is not real happy.
He keeps saying I don't look like me.
I know it's you and you sound the same, but I don't recognize you.
So that's what he's been saying for the last two days.
Oh, God.
So, but he's, he's fine.
Like, he's, like, he's hugging me and snuggle me and kissing all that kind of stuff.
So he's okay.
He just doesn't like it.
My son, Joe, he's totally fine.
He's like, he's like, I'm really proud of you, dad.
He just keeps on me, he's very proud.
And so, like, so, yeah.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
I did not, probably, the next question is, did they go to the fight?
They did not go to the fight.
I decided that, like, just because BKFCC, I can get pretty bloody.
It can get a little, like, obviously my face looks the way it does.
So that was obviously, I knew that was a possibility.
So we had him stay at my brother's house, my brother Stevens' house.
They didn't watch the fight live.
I talked to them first after the fight.
Told them I was fine, told them the outcome, told them all and stuff.
And then they watched it, and then we FaceTime later.
So they're okay.
But we kind of like dip their toes in the water a little bit once you know it wasn't bad.
Makes sense.
And by the way, what a pro you are?
Because that actually was my next question.
So I see, I know.
I know how this plays out.
Yeah, yeah.
You've been doing this for a while.
What were the emotions like on Fight Night?
Were you more nervous because it had been so long?
You were doing a new thing.
No, not at all.
No, no emotions.
I mean, obviously, like, everyone gets butterflies a little bit.
Like, I definitely, like, anyone says they don't get butterflies, I think is lying, right?
There might be some psychopaths out there that don't get any emotions at all.
But I don't get, like, I don't get fired up.
I'm not, like, overly energetic.
I'm not, like, nervous.
I don't get anxiety about it.
Like, I just, like, I've been doing this so long.
It's like, I just know that all that stuff doesn't help you.
Like, I definitely.
like I understand when you get the butterflies, like right before you walk or something like that.
I understand getting a little emotional.
I got, I got more emotional than anything.
So my wife was at the fight.
And so, like, and she's like notorious for like thumbs in her ears, cover her eyes,
bends down, head between her knees, and doesn't watch.
And she's always sitting with our friends.
So it's like if they're cheering and they're going loud, then she knows it's going well.
If they're being quiet, she knows it's not.
So they were like filming her.
And I got like more emotional, like watching her.
video clips of her afterwards,
like watching the fight that I did for my own fight
beforehand.
Wow.
It's just kind of like, I just don't get like,
I don't get excited,
don't get worked up.
It's like, it's a job, right?
It's like I'm not gonna,
I'm not like,
like I was really pumped to fight at Fenway.
Like that part was super cool.
But like it was like part of like the entire experience
as being at Fenway was the cool part.
It wasn't the, it wasn't the oh my God,
I'm gonna fight at Fenway.
It was like just like,
this is cool walking out of the dugout
and walking on the field
and looking at all the people in the crowd
and that kind of stuff.
But that was all like after the fun.
That wasn't like, in my brain, that's not happening during the fight.
That's not happening before the fight.
It's just like that's all after the fight.
You know, I don't really, you know, think about it too much until after.
That's the difference, I guess, between you guys and us, because I would think about all of that
and try to take all of that in.
You guys do such a great job of compartmentalizing everything.
And especially with this meaning so much to you, this venue, where did you warm up?
Like, are you in the locker?
We're in the clubhouse.
We were in, like, the visitor locker room.
Oh, wow.
That is wild.
Okay.
So there were, you know, there's two corners.
So we were blue side.
So we were like, like, there's a long tunnel.
You probably seen photos and videos or whatever.
But there's like a long tunnel that goes like from like the kind of the clubhouse into the visitor locker room.
And then it's up two stairs and you're right on the field.
We were right at that tunnel is like low.
And then there's stairs that go up to the dugout and the stairs the other end
to like the clubhouse kind of.
So we were in like the, we were on that end of the clubhouse.
The other corner had to go was like up a set of stairs and around a corner or something like that.
So like they were like almost like above us.
I figured they put you in the Red Sox clubhouse, being the local guy.
I think they probably didn't want anyone near there.
Fenway had everything locked down, like pretty good.
Like, you're not allowed to go on the field.
You're not allowed to do.
Like, there's a lot of things you're not allowed to do.
Okay.
You know, so which I get it.
You know, we kept joking.
After I win my fight, I got to go run the bases really quick.
And like, we would have been instantly banned.
Oh, my God.
Are you surprised Fenway even did this?
I was shocked.
Yeah.
I mean, I didn't like, I mean, it's a super old stadium.
It's super cool.
If people haven't been there, it's like, it's all, it almost feels like exposed girders everywhere.
It's like, everything's painted like green.
It's a super cool venue, but you can tell it's a very, very old venue.
I was a little surprised they did it.
There was a local show called Cage Titans, which I think is the best local show.
But I had a couple guys fun in that back in December.
And it's kind of in the MGM music hall.
And it's like connected to Fenway, right?
So that was really cool because our warm-up rooms and the locker rooms were kind of like,
there was a balcony that like overlooks Fenway.
So that's like, that was super cool.
We were talking back in December, it would be so awesome to fight at Fenway.
Like this would be so cool to actually be out on the field.
And then a couple months later, I get a call.
Hey, do you actually want to fight on the field?
I'm like, we just talked about this.
Yeah.
If I didn't do it, I would be kicking myself so bad for not doing it, not participating.
I kind of, I had to do it.
I didn't have a choice.
What was BKFC like as a promotion?
You've been in this game a long time.
Obviously, the last several years with the UFC.
But you've seen and done it all.
What did you think of them the way they sort of ran, professionalism, all that stuff?
Everything was super professional.
You know, it's obviously like, I think anytime that like some things like when they're growing,
like, PKK is growing.
Like, they're, they never would have thought anyone, I don't think anyone would have thought
they were doing this a year ago.
So it's definitely like everything was run really professionally.
A lot of stuff was kind of run similar to the UFC, how the UFC used to be when they were
running like with like a smaller, a smaller staff.
But everything went really, really nice.
Like, I was, I didn't know how it was going to go.
but I can't say anything bad about the way anything ran.
There's always going to be a little bit trouble,
like, you know, fight week stuff for, you know,
timing of things and less than ideal and things like that.
But everything was really, really good.
Like, I definitely like nothing bad to say about any of that process.
Everything was really well run.
Did you have to ask the UFC for permission to do this?
I don't know if I had to, but I did.
Okay.
So I still don't exactly know what my contract status is.
How is this possible?
How do you not know?
So, because here's the thing.
is like a lot of times the contracts,
they get frozen for like different reasons, right?
Like,
and that's what that's like the complaint sometimes.
It's like, you know,
people get locked up for a long time.
Yeah.
So,
uh,
my last thing was okay,
like the cowboy fight,
I pulled out because I was hurt because I hurt my knee.
My knee was locked up.
So they send like,
they send the thing like,
oh,
your contract has been frozen until whatever,
until you get cleared, blah, blah.
And I just,
I didn't think I was going to fight again.
If I was going to fight again.
If I was going to fight it was for the USC,
I didn't really care.
So it's like it's like it's been like,
it's been like four years now.
Yeah.
It's like,
what is my status?
I'm not really sure.
So I reached out to the UFC legal and I'm like,
hey,
what is,
what is my status because,
you know,
I'm being asked by BKFC to go and do this thing.
And I waited like kind of last minute because I didn't want to go to the
UFC.
I don't want to burn that bridge with them,
possibly.
I didn't think I would burn it,
but I didn't want to be,
hey,
I'm thinking about going somewhere else.
Unless I think it was,
it was for sure locked in.
So BKFC announced the thing.
They said,
you know,
I was,
you know, I was signed,
all sort of stuff.
At that point, I talked to the UFC,
you know, right around, I think I talked to the UFC just before.
And I took it to say, hey, what's my status?
I want to make sure this is all okay.
And Hunter basically called me,
say, hey, look, why are you doing this?
Like, this is the stupidest thing ever.
Like, you should not be doing bare-knuckle.
Like, if it's a money thing, you know, we'll help you out.
We'll put you on grappling.
We'll do something with you.
Like, we don't want to see you taking punches because you need money or something like that.
We want to look out for you, blah, blah.
And I'm like, look, I appreciate that.
But that's not what it's about.
It's not the money thing.
It's definitely like, like I was paid well, but it wasn't like, it wasn't, oh, Joe needs money.
I saw all kinds of posts on Reddit and things like that.
Like, oh, it's just so sad.
Joe looks old.
The photo they used me was terrible.
Like, I sent them the photo, but it was like, it was a really bad photo.
And then I think they aged it or something like that.
I know, it was a lot worse than what I sent.
But like, it's not that I needed money.
It wasn't like that.
I'm like, you know, but Hunter's like, he's like, if that's the case, if it's because you want to fight at Fenway, that was I told him.
It's because they're doing a fight at Fenway.
That's what I care about.
like it'll be it'll be so cool like I've never done bare knuckle boxing I've never done
bernacle anything I've never boxed anything uh it's an outdoor show I'm like there's so
many variables here that can have it not work out at all but I'd like I'd like to do it
I'd like to try and make a go at it I was I was terrified there was gonna be like lightning or
something like that you know we're gonna train for three months and it wasn't gonna work
out especially after the cowboy fight didn't happen twice oh yeah that was like
took the wind out of myself so bad you know to do a third camp and have there be a problem
would have just been like, you know, gut-wrenching.
But I talked to Hunter.
You know, he texted back and forth first,
and I hopped on the phone with him.
And he's like, look, if this is what you want to do,
is like, I'm, first of all,
he's like, I'm not telling you you can't do this.
Like, if you want to be released,
whatever you want to do,
we will release you, whatever you want, you know,
but I'll have legal send you a letter
and they'll tell you, okay,
you know, you're free to do this and blah, blah.
I'm like, okay, he's like,
but I'm going to send your text too that says the same thing.
And that way you just,
you have something in writing that you can do this,
and you can, if you need to show it to them or whatever.
So, but I'm like, nope, if you, if you guys say it's fine, then, and that's fine.
But he sent me a text.
And then that was in.
So I just, I told BKSA, I was in.
I signed the contract.
And we did it.
You know, but now it's like, I still kind of get like the drug testing text every once
a while.
Like, oh, here's your, your whereabouts.
And I always fill it in, but I haven't been tested in a while.
But I don't, I don't really know.
I don't know if I'm, I don't really care.
I mean, I like the association with the UFC.
So, like, I don't mind it.
Like, I'm not going to go and do anything anyways.
So I don't know.
Well, what about this?
Okay, so you win on Saturday.
You're going to do another one?
So that's the question, right?
Like, if I didn't, I don't love looking like this.
Yeah.
Right?
This is not really ideal.
But at the same time, it's a black eye for a week.
I don't have a job I got to go.
Do I have anything I'm supposed to do?
Right?
So, like, I don't really care.
Like, I'm on vacation.
We're up in Maine.
We go to Maine this week every single year.
I've gone for like 15 years with a couple other families.
We rent the house together.
and we usually leave Saturday morning
so I couldn't leave Saturday morning
because I had to fight Saturday night
so I left like we left Sunday like noon time
so I'm up here I'm like sitting on the beach
I'm just hanging out like it was easy to come here for this
walk over to the house
so I don't know they're talking that
they want to come back to Fenway like
I don't know if they're going to come once a year
or come next summer or what's like if they're going to do it
I would definitely consider it again like
I mean I think that like this was kind of a perfect storm
like I fought like my last fight
my last actual UFC fight was 2019 at the TD Garden
I fought John the Pierce.
It was like a, you know, flawless victory.
Like, didn't get touched.
One very, very convincingly, very easy.
First round stoppage.
Everything was perfect.
I couldn't have rid up a better fight, right?
Then I tried to do the cowboy thing, which I was, you know, that's obviously a gamble
a little bit, but it didn't work out two times.
And then now I got to fight at Fenway Park, which was awesome.
I did BKFC, which is something new.
That's really awesome.
You know, I'm the only one that's won at Fenway and the TV Garden.
It's pretty awesome.
Yes.
You know, we had tons of people go there.
It was really, really fun.
Am I going to roll the dice again?
I don't really know.
I would definitely entertain idiot.
I would think about it.
But likely done, but always open opportunities for anything.
I'm always like, I think you've got to any decision you make with your life has to be kind of business-minded and kind of think about things.
And if something makes sense and the numbers make sense and the situation makes sense, then I will entertain any idea forever.
What would you say to a detractor of BKFC?
One of the things that people don't like is that they get old.
fighters to fight it becomes uncomfortable.
You don't know if they need it for the money.
They're getting hurt, et cetera.
Now that you've done it, what is your retort?
So I thought my hands were going to be super banged up, but they were not.
My hands, like, I'm shocked.
I think my hands have been more sore after some of my UFC fights than it was for this, right?
I think it's like the volume of punches.
Like even when you have your hands wrapped, but you're punching really,
really hard.
It's more punches, I think.
This was like, I dropped him five times, but I probably landed like maybe eight decent
punches and dropped them five times, right?
because I land a couple body shots,
and then I connected up top, like,
maybe five or six times,
and I dropped them five times.
So it's,
my hands are not terrible,
so I didn't get banged up there.
My face looks like crap,
but I mean,
it's bruising.
It's like, it's not,
I get a little cut out of my eye.
So I have a little cut right here,
and then,
and then this eye is,
like, pretty swollen shut.
But, like,
that's not that big of a deal,
honestly.
Like, I mean,
like,
there's,
I've got plenty of black eyes,
not this bad,
of course,
just training.
So I don't think it's,
I don't think it was as bad
as I thought it was going to be. I think it's tough on your skin.
But like if they're giving guys a little bit older a chance to kind of make some extra
money at the end, I don't think that's a bad thing. I think that's kind of a good thing.
I don't like it seeing when, you know, they take an older guy and they sacrifice him.
But if they're, you know, and I really don't think BKFC either cares about trying to like
build stars as much as they care about building like entertaining fights.
Like that was one of the things that Dave said was that like, he's like, look,
I don't care if you get knocked out every single time.
We will keep bringing you back if you're putting on good fights.
right so like i don't want i don't think anyone wants to be the guys getting knocked out over and over
but if they're paying you pretty well and you're making a decision every single time
hey i want to do this i want to do this i want to do this um some of these guys have no other way
to make money at all so at least there's someone that's willing to give them some opportunity
to fight you know so i think it's okay uh it obviously depends everyone's got different
situations but if you're in like a super dire place and you have no way to make money
and if someone's giving you offering you a good opportunity to make a good amount of money
i don't think that's the worst thing in the world uh it was
great to see you back, especially with the old blogs again, or vlogs, as they say, online,
the jersey that you're wearing.
It felt very nostalgic, especially you in Boston, and getting that opportunity in Fenway
was super cool.
So not surprised that you said yes, and it was great to see you win again.
Congrats on that.
I'm sure that was a career highlight, and a pretty damn good way to go out, if that is actually
the end of your competitive career.
What's better?
Yeah.
How can I personally do any better than that, right?
It's like, I've had a lot of really memorable wins.
Everyone's always like, oh, what's your favorite fight?
And I have, like, there's a list of like six or eight different fights that have had that were awesome.
It's like, it's kind of hard to like pick like one thing or one favorite or whatever.
But like at this point, I think fighting at Fenway is pretty cool.
I think Fenway might be at the top of the list at this point.
Hell yeah.
It's fresh.
It's fresh.
But, I mean, I don't think there's a better way to kind of to cap it off.
Congrats, Joe.
Feel better.
Heal up soon.
What a scene that was.
And thanks for doing this on vacation, by the way.
I really appreciate it.
No problem.
Peace game.
Of course, same time.
There he is.
Joe Lozon.
And yeah, what a career.
Just, I mean, 28 and 15, joint fourth most submissions.
Submission wins in UFC lightweight history.
15 post-fight bonuses, joint six most in UFC history, wins over Mike Brown, Jens,
Pulver, Jeremy Stevens, Melvin Galar, Takenori, Gomi, Diego Sanchez, Michael Kesa, Marcin,
he held an amazing career, and he gets to win over Stash.
Kikindal may have butchered that.
TKO second round.
Stash had just three BKFC fights, or that was his third, but still a win is a win at Fenway,
big time stuff for Joe Lozahn.
All right, we'll turn our attention now to this Friday.
Here, well, across the river in New Jersey, Prudential Center, to be exact,
matchroom putting on an event that will air on DeZone and TNT, the headliner,
features the Destroyer, Andy Ruiz Jr., the former unified heavyweight champion going up against
Poland's Damien Kniebha.
Let's not keep Andy waiting any longer.
He is here, kind enough to join us in studio.
What a great honor this is to be joined by the man himself.
Yes, there he is.
Andy Ruiz.
Hello, my friend.
How are you?
Welcome to the show.
Thank you.
Please, have a seat.
Have a seat.
And welcome to the whole team as well.
Hey, guys.
How are you?
That's a tremendous bag, by the way.
Andy, great to see you.
Great to have you here.
I hear the travel was a little tough.
It was a little tough, but we made it safely.
Thank God.
Do me favor.
If you can talk into the moment.
microphone so we can hear you. Oh, yeah. That is a nice chain. Wow, the whole jewelry set today is
very nice. What do we have right here? We've got Jesus right here. Okay, I'm familiar with his work.
Yes. Jesus peace actually here. Shout out to Raphael. He's from here from New York City,
so he does a lot of jewelry here for a lot of famous people. Okay. Well, I'm excited about this,
excited for you. Much to talk to you about. You know, it's wild, like you kind of forget. Only four
fights since June of 2019 in this city. That is a wild thing. Only four fights. This will be your fifth.
My fifth one. Yeah. In the span of seven years, when you come back here, do you get those feelings again?
Yeah, I get flashbacks. I get memories. And especially, it could have been a better place here in New York City, especially in Brick City. So it's, it's going to be
amazing. Amazing comeback. So I think this is the first time we get a chance to speak. So I'm sorry, I know you've talked about
some of this stuff leading up to the fight,
but my first opportunity.
Do you remember where you were
when you got the call to fight AJ?
I was at my house
in South Central California.
And who calls you?
Eddie Hurons.
As a matter of fact,
I messaged him after Gerald Miller got
tested for the second time or third time
and I messaged Eddie Hurons.
I was like, hey man, hey Eddie,
I just got them fighting.
Look up my fight.
I'm ready to fight.
Give me the opportunity, please.
And what do you know?
He messaged me like the next day.
Wow.
Like right there, like telling my calling my dad.
Dad, he called me.
I mean, he replied to me.
So he wanted to talk to my team and I give him my number and what do you know,
he ended up calling.
Wow.
Do you think you don't get that opportunity if you don't reach out to him?
I mean, you have to take chances.
You got to take risks.
And that's exactly what we did.
And I was just praying, man, praying because I was waiting for this moment,
waiting for this opportunity.
something I've been praying and wishing for since I was a young, since I was a little kid,
and what do you know, I ended up happening?
How nervous were you when they actually said yes?
Like when it became a reality, you're like, oh shit, this is actually happening?
Oh, yeah.
I was super nervous.
I kept telling everybody, and I was just hoping for the best.
Hopefully that they can make a deal.
And what do you know?
After they made the deal, I even got even more nervous.
I was like, oh, my gosh, what did I get myself into?
I'm going to fight this big giant and dangerous guy.
but it was my opportunity.
It was my shot.
In the fight, or actually leading up to the fight, I'm curious.
Did you, like, were you there to just take part,
or did you actually believe in your heart of hearts that you could win?
Yeah, of course.
I believe in my heart that I could win.
And I've been watching AJ for a while when he fought Joseph Parker,
when you fought a few guys that I sparred before.
So I was like, man, I think I could get this guy.
I could win him.
And, yeah, we ended up doing it.
How many times have you watched that, you think, that fight?
That fight, a lot of times.
Do you watch it, like, recently, or do you try to put it in the view of view?
Yeah, usually there's highlights, a lot of people reposting it.
But there's a documentary that they did.
That's something that I watched a lot.
On the fight itself?
Okay.
And what are the emotions when you think about the fight?
Because the night, the experience, greatest of your life for now, probably as far as your career.
But it also led to a bunch of problems.
right? And so the emotions that are attached to it, how do they make you feel as you try to
live it? It's a roller coaster. There's a lot of things that I feel like, man, there's things
that I should have did this and there's things that I shouldn't have done that. But overall,
I was still blessed and grateful for all the opportunities, all the lessons that I've learned
and everything. When you say shouldn't have done this and that, what are you referring to?
Well, just leading up to the rematch.
Okay.
getting up to the rematch, things that I should have just been more disciplined.
I should have taken care of myself a little bit more.
And I should have been thinking more of the future, not just to the present.
Because once God gave me what I've been asking for, what I've been wishing for,
I kind of went over here.
I was dragged over there.
And I kind of lost track of the whole mission.
Do you live with regret?
Do you think about those things a lot, those decisions a lot?
I used to, but now we accept them and we accept.
We learn, you know, we learn out of it.
Because if you keep living like that,
then you're always gonna have that thing inside you.
And the only thing that I have is the hunger
and wanting to be great again.
And so when you turn the corner,
you say you used to live with regret and not anymore.
So how did you get over that?
Like leaving it in the past
and just focusing on the stuff you wanna do now?
Well, just motivating myself again
with all the people that I've been telling, man,
you could do it again, you could be champion,
just focus.
just focus, and I do have the ability to do that.
So I kind of had to talk to myself,
and I had to remind myself how I got here,
why I got here, and remember the mission.
And so do you think if you don't get that opportunity
eventually it comes?
Do you think you were destined to be a heavyweight champion,
or did it have to break that way for you?
What do you think?
I feel I was destined, and I was,
and maybe things had to happen like this,
because if it didn't, I wouldn't have learned
the things that I did now, you know?
So I best believe I was destined, and especially with this Chubby Kai,
who was going to believe that I was going to become the unified heavyweight champion
of the world and beat the Giants.
And, yeah, I want to call myself the Giants Slayer.
And you've got another one on Friday.
Yes, golly.
It's a big guy, this guy, Damien.
Yeah, they're all big, man.
All of them.
I always feel like the short guy, especially fighting these big heavyweight guys.
but for some reason it works for me.
And so why do you think it does?
You're able to attack the body?
You think they underestimate you?
Yeah, I think somehow, some way I just go in there
and I shoot my combinations,
and I kind of adapt good with their reach.
And it's kind of harder for a fighter that's tall
to fight shorter guys, that pressure.
Last time we saw you was two years ago,
a little over two years ago, against Jarrell Miller.
Oh, man.
Why do you react that one?
Oh, man, because that was the toughest fight
that I had in my professional career.
It was actually the hardest thing I had to do,
especially breaking my hand in the fifth round.
So I had to continue, when I broke my hand,
I had to continue all 12 rounds forcing myself to not give up.
And in the ninth round, I told my dad, dad,
I don't think I could do this no more.
He's like, what do you mean?
You got to keep going.
There's only three more rounds left.
But in reality, there's four more rounds left.
So when they said, when it was the 11th round,
I thought it was already done,
but there was one more round.
And oh my God, freaking Gerald Miller kept coming like a train, man.
He kept coming and coming, but something inside of me didn't want to give up.
Were you in a ton of pain?
Oh, yeah.
And you've never been through like that type of mental adversity before?
I have in some other fights, like with the broken rib, my hand.
But this time it was different.
It was different because all the other times when I hurt myself, I was the one forcing the fight.
You know, I was the one pressuring and all that.
But when you have a guy, a big guy that's 300-something pounds coming towards you and doesn't stop, then it's kind of, you feel useless.
You feel like, man, I don't have nothing.
I don't have nothing to come back with.
Were you injured going into that fight?
No, I wasn't injured going into that fight, but it did happen like in the fifth round.
I think I hit them.
I think I hit them too much in the back of the head or something.
Surgery afterwards?
Not right away.
I actually took probably like six months.
seven months because I thought there was in a heal. I thought it was in a heel. They put like a cast on
and everything, but it wasn't, it wasn't enough. The doctor told me you need to get surgery so it could
heal properly and you could continue your career. So is that why you've been out for so long? You
waited those six, seven months and then the surgery? I actually waited. I actually waited longer
what the doctor told me. So I kind of relaxed. I hang out with my children. Um, yeah, my
just wanted to recover right because best believe i did not want that to happen again so what did you do
to you know past the time other than hanging out with your children like without going crazy i just be with
with with my children invest um we have uh homes that we develop uh thanks to my dad is a contractor he has
uh construction company so i kind of wasted my time there um yeah were you starting to go stir
crazy at some point like any itchy knuckles i was getting tired of being tired i was bored of being bored
yeah of course and i kept seeing ucic fight anthony joshua boom jake pot or nowhere became a star in boxing i was
like man what am i doing like why am i waiting so long i should just go in there already like
what am i waiting and until long story short i was in with i was with my girl in cancun and touloum
and we're drinking a little bit of wine
and then out of nowhere something hit me
he's like, I'll call Manny Robles.
And I was like, what?
So I end up calling Manny Robles, a little intoxicated.
It's like when you drunk dial your ex-girlfriend.
Yeah.
Exactly.
And I was all nervous and I was like, hey, Manny,
you think, would you ever train me again?
I want to get back in the ring.
Would you ever train me again?
I'm like, heck yeah, man.
I just need you to be focused.
I need you to be prepared
and I need you to listen to me.
And I was like, yeah, let's do it.
We made history again.
I mean, we made history one time we could do it again.
But just listen to me and work hard.
And what do you know, we end up clicking again.
It took a little while for me to get over there.
But we ended up in California.
He's in Cali.
Yeah, he's in Cali.
And where were you living at the time?
I'm in San Diego.
San Diego.
Okay, so not too bad.
So he's in L.A.
You're in San Diego.
Why did you leave him in the first place?
Some issues that happened.
Yeah, but the good thing is that...
You don't want to get into it.
Yeah, but the good thing is that we got, we're reunited.
Okay, and was it like you had never left?
Yeah, we still had that click, we still had that bond,
and I was like, man, like, because for the other fights,
when I fought Arriola, when I fought Louise Ortiz, when I fought Miller,
I was kind of training myself.
All I had was the mid guy and the conditioning guy,
and I was kind of controlling my whole camp.
Why'd you do that?
I don't know. I think because I thought I knew it all. I think I thought like I man if I was champion
I don't know. I do not know. And there was no one who told you like yo Andy like you need a head coach
you need a trainer you need someone to guide you you need to not necessarily be the boss. No one was telling you this.
A few people. My dad was kind of telling me as well. But when I went with Manny, I was like man this is
exactly how I became champion having the right team having the people force.
me doing stuff that I don't want to do because before they would tell me like, hey, you got to do
this. I'm like, all right, I'll do it later on. I'll do it after a sparring. And then after
sparring, come, no, I'll do it tomorrow. And I was half-assing there. I had one feet in the water and
one feet out. Right. Yeah, so that was a big difference. How long ago was that, that phone call to
many? Some time last year. Okay. And so what took so long to get back for this? Did you have to
figure things out. I think for me watching everybody fight, everybody becoming champion,
Usik, taking all the ballots from everybody. Yeah. I think that's what motivated me as well.
And I don't know, something clicked in my head. I don't know if those God's signs or his
holy spirit, but he was like, man, you need to continue your mission. Remember your mission.
Let everybody know that you could do it again. You could become champion again and just let people
know that I'm the one who's helping you and glorify him.
Was it hard to watch boxing because it was part of your past,
but there were some negative feelings attached to it all,
how it all played out.
Was it hard for you to watch it?
No, I would watch it all the time,
especially the big fights.
I'll have my family over and all that,
especially when the heavy weights were fighting.
I was more exciting because I wondered, man, I could get in there.
I wanted to see how it plays.
Was there any part of you that felt at any point,
maybe the hand's not healing that you might be done? Were you worried about that?
I mean, everybody has doubts, especially from having surgery, but that's the reason why I took a longer
layoff too, you know? I wanted it to heal right, like, really good. And the last thing I wanted to do
is just try to get a fight right away, you know, and something happens or your mind is not right.
So I think it was good, taking the long layoff.
And so then you're a promotional free agent, right? You're talking to a whole bunch of promoters.
And at one point, it seemed like you were going down the Zufa boxing route.
How close were you to signing with Zufa Boxing?
We're pretty close.
I was talking to a lot of different promoters at that time.
But with Eddie Hearns, I felt like it was more, it just felt right.
It felt right.
What felt right about it?
I don't know, the plan that he had and me remembering the opportunity that he gave me, you know.
So I didn't, I'm a, I feel I'm a loyal person.
I felt like I was like, you know what, he gave me the opportunity. He helped me become the first
Mexican heavyweight champion of the world. And you know what? I'm going to sign with him.
Even though deep down, he probably wanted you to lose.
Even, yeah, exactly.
But, you know, he still gave you the shot. He still gave me the shot. And best believe, God willing,
I'm going to be his next superstar. And so just curious, what do you think of Zufaxing? It's a hot topic
this year? I think it's good. I think it still needs to grow. They're doing good.
things. They're paying the fighters pretty good. So I think any person that's building fights
and helping the fighters make money and getting an opportunity, why not? I don't have nothing
bad to say. What about them having, you know, this idea of getting rid of the belts and having
their own belt? Well, that's something that I didn't really like because I want to get those
bells back, you know. I want the WBO. I want the WBC bow that's missing in my collection and the
ring side. So that's something, that's one of the reasons, too, why I signed over there with
Matrum. With Matrum. Okay. How did we end up with Damien as your first opponent with Matrum?
And were there other people being discussed as well? I think there was. There's a few different
opponents, but I think Damien was a good opponent, especially.
for my first fight and he comes he comes to fight you know so we didn't want just like a regular
a regular guy where it was going to be easy you know we wanted a pretty tough fight but god willing
we take him out early he sparred with a jay yeah he was helping him actually for his last
fight yeah do you think a jay told him a few things about you i'm pretty sure but everybody
could say whatever they want but once you're inside that ring it's like i like my tyson says
everybody has the plan so they get hit i thought you were also going to say that
2019 version of you has nothing to do with this version of you, that you've evolved a lot since
then. So it doesn't matter what he says. No, it doesn't matter. I mean, I don't see what he could
tell him. Just be like, hey, be careful, watch your distance or, uh-huh, be careful. Well, the way in which
he fought the second time was much different than the first time, right? The way which he fought, like,
a lot more measured, a lot more relaxed, so maybe he can, you know, impart that type of wisdom on you. But
I feel like you've changed a lot.
You've matured a lot, right?
You've evolved, grown up a lot since then.
You know, he's involved in all kinds of news right now.
I'm sure you're paying attention to all of this,
but the biggest news in the heavyweight division,
did you see what happened on Saturday with Moses Zetaama?
Oh, man, we're watching that.
You watched that?
Yeah, we watched it.
Tell me what you're thinking as you're watching this.
It was pretty crazy.
I thought Moses was going to win.
So did I.
Everybody, everybody.
Everybody.
He's a really, but I think the experience got to him,
and I think he started too fast.
I think he started too aggressive.
I think he should have just chopped the body
and get him more tired.
But Herkovich, he's a strong guy, man,
and he does have a really good chin.
He does.
Really good chin.
He got hit by so many punches.
Some of these uppercuts that he took here were replaying it.
Like, I can't believe he just took it.
You know what I mean?
He just kept going.
But my take on the fight, Andy,
and I'm curious what you thought,
I feel like Herkovich did nothing to be.
beat Moses, Moses beat himself.
Like, especially
seventh round, eighth round,
he was going for that home run punch
just trying to knock him out.
What's the farthest rounds
that he ever went? Six rounds?
Yeah.
I think that's why.
I think the experience,
I think.
But he should just use his jab,
just coast to victory at that point.
He was winning eight rounds to none.
Well, that's what I was saying.
I think he should have chopped him up
a little bit more.
He should have just been careful.
He should have been moving around.
These big shots here where he's missing,
it's like,
that takes a lot out of you, right?
It does take a lot.
out of you. Look at this here. He couldn't say, I've never seen a guy up that big and then just
be completely gas like that. I didn't know how hurt he was until he started like leaning back.
I look like the video from Fat Joe, lean back. Yes. Have you ever, like, you've been in there,
you know what it's like. We talk about the fighting all, like, when you can't breathe, when you're
so exhausted. Oh, man. Worst feeling? Yeah, worse feeling because you want to give up. Like, you want to,
you want to, you want to be like, hey, let's take a break. Hold on, hold on.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can.
The guy keeps coming and coming, but I think, yeah, I think he should have just boxed around a little bit.
I mean, there's plenty of times.
Twelve rounds is a lot.
That's a lot of rounds, especially if you're going super hard.
But thank God.
I think I have a good gas tank.
Even if I'm out of shape or anything, I could go to 12 rounds.
Do you think that he was pushed too quickly?
I think so.
You do?
I think he was pushed too quickly.
I think he should have.
How many fights does he have?
14 going into this one.
14.
Yeah, I think he should have.
until like 20 fights.
But he was so good, you know.
He was so good.
He was knocking everybody out.
So everybody had high expectations with him.
Yeah, we showed a clip of Mike Tyson talking to him at the beginning of his career.
When Mike became heavyweight champion at 20, he had 27 fights.
So almost doubled the experience.
14 fights for Moses.
That counts, right?
And a clip came out of him last week saying he had never sparred 12 rounds before.
Oh, wow.
Does that shock you?
That does shock, we have to spar 12 rounds just to get that in the head.
Like, man, if we go 12 rounds, at least I did 12 rounds in the boxing gym.
I did 10 rounds in the boxing gym sparring.
So if anything happens, if I don't get him out of there, at least I know in my head and in my gut
and in my heart that I could last those rounds.
But it's important.
Just based on what you've seen from him, do you think that he can rebound from this and be as good as everyone thinks?
Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure.
He's just, he's still young.
He's like 20-something years old.
21 21 baby yeah so he's of course he has a long ahead of his career you know but everyone's like
you know killing him calling him over hype fraud all this stuff everyone is gonna say that dude
just like how they bashed me so many times like man one hit wonder blah blah blah he's not
gonna be the same he's he's done like those are just opinions people's opinions you know and we can't
get mad they could say whatever they want did you read that stuff back then did you like
subject yourself to it?
Sometimes it would put me down.
It would put me down.
I would put me down.
I would like, man, why are people so cruel?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But social media, it's pretty...
It will mess with you?
You're one of the toughest dudes on the planet, and these words are messing with you.
Exactly.
Yeah, but if you pay attention to them too much, you know, and if you believe them,
but you have to understand that everybody has an opinion.
Yeah.
Everybody could say whatever they want, but they don't know what you've been through.
They don't know what you're thinking.
they don't know what's going to happen.
They just see from the back in the scenes.
What type of advice would you give Moses after this?
He's probably feeling quite low on this Monday, right?
Yeah, just to stay strong.
Don't listen to the critics and just believe in himself still, you know?
And then rewatch that fight and do the things that he should have done a little bit better, you know?
And spar those 12 rounds, spar as much because with sparring, that's the,
that's the main thing, especially when you're getting into the championship rounds and championship fight, you're supposed to, and not to be too confident.
Don't underestimate nobody because that's what happened to me when I fought Arroyola, when I fought Miller.
That's why I was training, kind of training myself, because I was underestimating these guys like, ah, you know what, I'm going to beat him.
Like, I beat Anthony Joshua.
I could beat anybody in this world, you know?
So put King Kong, I'm going to beat him, like, but it's not like that.
I can't underestimate nobody.
Were you feeling that way going into the rematch with AJ?
I sure was.
Yeah.
That's why I was eating tacos before the even the weighing.
For real?
Yeah.
You did that.
I thought that was just for show.
No.
I had my chef, Alonso, Zoe.
He had barbacoa, so we made barbacoa for all the...
It's a Mexican dish that is one of my favorite Mexican dishes.
Okay.
And it's a lamb, and the police.
like a lot of different sauce and it's really, really good.
Okay.
I wish I had some, so I could give you some.
I wish I had some, too.
You were eating that in Saudi Arabia?
In Saudi Arabia.
He made it for you.
He made it for me.
Golly.
But heavy.
Yeah.
It's probably not the best thing to eat before a fight.
Definitely not.
I kind of weighed like almost that was like two 80 something, like two 90.
Okay.
So I don't know what happened to me, but like I said, I did underestimate
Anthony Joshua at that fight.
and if I could go back,
I wish I could change everything
because it would have been a whole different scenario.
Can I ask you a crazy question?
You may not want to reply.
How much did you make for that first AJ fight?
I don't remember, but a couple million dollars.
That was obviously the most you ever made.
Craziest thing you bought with that money?
The first thing that I did, I secured,
and I got my house for my family.
That's the first thing that I bought.
Luckily, with all the money that I've been making,
been buying homes, properties, stuff like that.
So that's one of the smartest things that I could have done.
Listen to my dad a lot.
And we bought, like, a lot of land, so we developed the homes.
So these are smart purchases.
Yeah.
I thought you were going to say, like, I bought, like, eight cars, a bunch of jewelry.
Oh, you did?
I did.
I did after that, you know.
You still had some money left over?
Of course.
How many cars did you buy?
I probably had, like, $2 million worth of cars.
For real.
Uh-huh.
For no reason.
Was anyone telling you like, yo, you don't need to do this?
My dad.
You got to listen to your dad.
Yeah, my dad was telling me.
He was like, man, with all these, you could have bought more land.
We could have been making more money.
We could have bought more homes.
I'm like, I know, Dad, but we're going to fight again.
Don't worry.
And when?
It's already been a year, son.
Like, you need to get back to work.
I will.
I'm just having fun.
And I'm still a little down.
I feel sad because I lost against Anthony Joshua when I wasn't supposed to.
And I remember.
You did that to yourself.
You have to work hard.
You got to be smart.
And luckily with him, I did, like I said, we did buy a lot of properties.
But this damn car.
So I suggest everybody that's making a lot of money.
Yes, yes.
And not buy a lot of cars.
It's just for nothing.
Which was the most expensive?
I probably had the Ferrari and the, when the 488 spider came, I bought that one.
I have colonins.
I had like four different colonins, different ones.
You still have them?
I have some.
Okay.
You can sell them.
I did sell some of them.
Some of them I sold them.
And I bought a beach house.
I bought a beach house in Mexico and Encinola.
That's better.
Yeah.
So that's what I was saying.
I started selling the cars.
Like, you know what?
I don't even need these.
I'm buy the properties.
And these big, the bitch house, I mean the bitch house.
The beach house that I have, I haven't even gone.
It's been so long.
You haven't even gone?
I haven't gone.
Once?
Yeah, I've been there, but I haven't gone in a while.
Okay.
But that's a smart thing that I did, though.
Yeah, we bought the big ranch.
But that wasn't from the cars.
What about jewelry?
Jewelry I did buy a lot of jewelry.
A lot of jewelry.
For my son, too.
He's over there.
I'll blinked out as well.
But those are like little trophies.
Okay.
business is different, but they still cost a lot of money.
Yes.
There's thousands of dollars.
But, yeah, we've got to spoil ourselves sometimes.
For sure.
I was just wondering if looking back, you were like,
yeah, maybe I shouldn't have bought this one, shouldn't have bought that one.
Only when I bought too many cars.
I think that's when I was talking like that, yeah,
especially when my dad talking all kinds of shit.
Were you a big fan of cars before all this?
I was, yeah.
Okay.
I always wanted, my favorite car was of Rolls Royce.
The wraith.
I had like different ones.
Did you end up getting one?
Yeah.
That was actually my first one that I bought.
After when I beat Anthony Joshua, that was a,
I bought the house that I wanted in Alpine and I bought the rave.
Man, what a life.
What was the best thing to happen as a result of beating Anthony?
Making history.
But like a byproduct of it, like a moment where you're like,
I can't believe this happened to me as a result of this.
I mean the opportunity to help my family.
and my children and having not to struggle too much,
even though we're all struggling different ways
and different manners, but I think it was that.
How many kids do you have?
Five.
And your oldest son is...
My oldest son is...
Andy the third.
Shout out.
My daughter, she's about to be 18 in February.
What does she want to be?
She wants to be a lot of things,
and I'm just waiting for her to pick,
whatever she wants to pick,
so I could help her and do whatever she wants to do.
Not boxing related though, right?
No, no way, no way.
I do boxing.
This young man wants to be a boxer.
He does want to be a boxer.
How do you feel about that?
I think is I like it.
He wants to be a boxer, but he needs to work hard.
You know, he needs to be disciplined.
And I tell him you can't play with boxing because you get hurt.
And he knows all this stuff that I did and all the stuff that I had to sacrifice.
Are you saying that because right now you want to see him push himself more?
Of course. I want him to push himself more, and I want him not to do the same mistakes that I did.
I want him to take a serious and have that hunger.
Would you prefer he didn't do this?
Whatever he wants to do, I'm going to be behind him.
I'm going to support him and whatever he wants to do.
But I hear from a lot of fighters who say, like, I made all this money and made these sacrifices so that my kids don't have to do this.
Yeah, I fight so they don't have to fight.
Yeah, but now he wants to fight like you.
Yeah, but he's pretty good.
He is?
Yeah, it's pretty good.
Okay.
Are you training him?
No, Manny Robles was helping him out.
There's his other guy at the gym.
I forgot his name.
But he's a good trainer.
He's training him right there.
Okay.
And so you think it's inevitable.
He will become a fighter.
I'm pretty sure if he takes it serious.
If not, then he's going to be washing dishes or if not working with my dad, for sure, building homes.
Your dad seems like he's really built.
I know he immigrated from Mexico to California, right?
My dad is the smartest man that I know him because without him, I would have
I wouldn't be here because he was the one pushing me.
He's the one who believed in me more than I believed in myself when I was younger.
And yeah, he's really smart, especially of negotiating, especially with everything.
He's like my advisor, my manager, and my promoter.
And did he ever fight?
He did not fight.
Well, he did a little bit.
His dad used to be a trainer.
So his dad used to have my grandpa that I never met.
He used to be a trainer, and he wanted.
all his children to become fighters, but none of them became fighters, I think, because he was
too often in the streets.
Okay.
My dad was like a gangster.
He was?
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah.
So he was always in the streets.
Where in Mexico?
And Mexical.
Okay.
Okay.
Yes.
Yep.
And he moved there.
He went a job corps in San Diego and then he went to Oregon.
And, um, but his dad, his dad wanted everybody to be a fighter.
If my grandpa was still here, he would have been so, so proud of me.
And you never met him?
I never met him.
Ah, but that's where you get maybe the love of the game from.
I think that's where I got the passion and the Aztec warrior of my grandpa that I never met.
And I think I was living my dad's dream because I think he wanted to be a fighter too,
but I think it was just the streets that they called him.
And so who introduced you to fighting?
My dad.
Oh, even though he wasn't a fighter himself, he was the one that was showing you fights and whatnot.
Exactly.
Is he the one that said like,
Let's go to the gym and try this out.
Yeah, he was my first trainer.
Oh, wow.
So I was saying that I think I was living his dream.
Wow.
He was my first trainer.
He'll give me the hand speed.
He'll make me do combinations,
like 10 different combinations.
And we kept training and training until I found love with the sport.
And I was six years old at that time.
Wow.
And how many siblings?
That he has?
No, that you had.
It's only me, my older sister,
my little brother.
Did your brother show interest?
Um, a little bit, but he's more of a business size.
So he kind of does like the contracting like my dad does.
Okay. So your dad initially was, uh, I think when he came to this country,
he was just kind of working in construction and whatnot and built like this whole
business for himself with the, the houses and contracting and whatnot.
Did you ever think for a minute that that would be your future or you didn't want that?
For a minute, I didn't want, for a minute I did that and I dropped out a, I got kicked
out high school and then I went to this community school where, where, you got kicked out.
Um, being dumb.
Okay. Fighting?
Fighting.
Fighting, being, being dumb, man.
I should have listened more.
Damn.
But, this seems to be a theme.
Yeah.
But, um, but yeah.
And I used to work with my dad as well.
And oh my gosh, it was so hard.
And he would always talk shit, man.
He was, he was a big shit talker, especially to all his workers.
Okay.
He had to handle like 50 different people, um, in the job.
So he wouldn't take me lightly as well, you know.
He would talk shit.
I'm like, man, there's no.
way that I'm going to be a construction worker. I need a especially in Imperial
Valley because it's so hot and humid over there and it gets like 120 degrees. Wow.
So I was like you know what I need a I need to work harder. I need to pursue my
boxing career and what do you know we end up I got a spot I end up beating the
number one and number two from the spot in Mexico City and that's how I be that's
how I got my spot at the Mexican Olympic team. Okay wow that's when I started
pursuing my dream I lived in Mexico City
for like four years, and we traveled around the world.
And that was my dream to become the first Mexican Olympian heavyweight.
And in the end, you became the first Mexican heavyweight champion.
Yeah.
It's unbelievable.
Yeah, I mean, for some, but it's still something like,
I was watching it last night that fight the scene,
you jumping up and down, you celebrating with your family,
incredible.
I miss that feeling, man.
That's why I want to work hard to become a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.
and the god willing that's what we're gonna do.
What have you planned out with Eddie in your mind
in terms of how long it may take for you to get into those big fights?
I just need to climb up the ladders,
just like how I did before,
and train and fight, train and fight until I get the opportunity.
So I signed with three fights,
so if it takes those three fights, then why not?
In your mind, how long do you think it should take,
given your name given what you've done like do you think in three fights you could get a title fight do you
think what are you think is because it's so unpredictable especially now that the the belts are
scattered everywhere you know so now it's different champions and i kind of like it instead of just
one person being a champion and it takes everybody has to get in line just to fight that one one guy
so there's more opportunities there's more a lot more better opportunities so it could take one
fight it could take two fights i don't know god god willing is just take this fight and then i'll get to
fight any of the champions what do you think of all the craziness with a jane fury i think is this
i mean it's a fight that everybody's been waiting for it's a fight that everybody's been waiting for
and we don't we don't know if it's going to be here in the united states or is going to be over there
in london yeah in the uk but i think i think it would be a good fight who do you think wins
um that's a tough it's a tough fight that's a tough fight that's a tough
fight but Anthony Joshua he's still he's tough man especially from all the things that he's been
through I'm almost passing away in his car accident I've had mad respect for him and for
Tyson Fierry I kind of didn't really like his performance over there where he fought the one in
London no I think he fought somewhere else well he fought in London in April and then he fought a guy
that we couldn't really watch it.
Yeah, that one.
Okay.
In Thailand.
Yeah, but sometimes when you fight people like that,
you don't really take it serious.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like him versus Francis and Ghanu.
Yeah, things could have happened like that too.
But I don't know.
It could go either way.
So you don't have a pick?
I don't have it.
I just want to fight.
I want to fight one of them.
You want to fight one of them?
I want to fight one of them.
When's the last time you spoke to AJ?
When I went to Egypt,
when I went to go see Usek fight,
we went over there.
well I went over there and
and we actually said
hey we could probably
fight pretty soon bro I was like hey
I'm gonna end up signing with
with Eddie Hurons we're gonna
we're gonna be together
I was like what
I was like yeah
so hopefully you know crazy turn of events
yeah maybe we could do the trilogy
is he cool towards you when you see him
yeah of course we all show love
he's very respectful
doesn't seem like there's any animosity
towards you or anything like that
even if he's mad at somebody I think he'll still be
respectful
And so me too.
That's how I am too.
That was a crazy fight.
You saw that fight, the Rico Verhoeven.
That was pretty good.
I thought Rico got screwed.
I thought Musick was going to beat him until Eddie Harns was like,
hey, you're going to be in for a surprise because I think Rick was going to beat him.
And I was like, what?
No way.
That stoppage was crazy in the 11th?
Post-bell.
They stopped the fight after the bell.
They did, but I think he would have still stopped him.
You think so?
In the 12th?
Yeah.
I was shocked.
I know Rico from covering kickboxing and whatnot, but he fought like a very measured fight.
He was very smart.
Usik didn't quite look like himself.
I don't know what it is about these crossover fights.
Sometimes...
Is it because of styles?
Yeah.
The style is the way that they stand.
Sometimes when you're not fighting a fighter, like a real boxer,
sometimes they move different.
They throw punches.
Awkward.
Yeah, different ways.
And I think that's what kinds of...
Because it makes it weird.
What about your disc track?
My disc track.
Yeah. Let's hear it. Let's hear it.
Step in the ring.
In the moment. Do you have bars for us?
The freestyle?
What inspired this?
So a long time ago, it was probably like two and a half years ago.
I made this disc track.
Shout out to YBE. He's the one who helped me write it.
Okay.
I have a house in Las Vegas and I have a studio.
So long story short, I bought Stevie B's house.
I don't know if you know long, long pop star artist.
Okay.
I bought his house.
And there's a studio right there.
And every time I would bring my cousins, my family, my friends,
we'll get on the studio bus flows.
And we'll just have fun in there until one time they're like, man,
why don't you make a disc track?
And I was like, what?
You think so?
So this was like two years ago.
And I was going to come out with it when I saw Baby Miller at first,
but I was too shy.
I was like, nah, maybe, maybe not.
And what do you know until I had the courage to actually make a little video.
Shout out to Ben right here.
we did like a little intro video and yeah people loved it people hate it what inspired it
um my friends okay but like what from inside your your korda son as they say what made you want to do
this because you're taking shots at other heavyweights in there you're talking about people
this tracks usually are coming from like an upset place no yeah well just um calling them out um
calling them out and we wanted to do something that was going to be fun you know
We're having fun at that moment.
I think you were at a matchroom event in July
and they started playing it.
They did.
That must have been cool.
That was cool.
Yeah.
You were sitting next to Paolo Costa,
the M.MA fighter.
Yeah.
You know him?
Yeah, really cool guy, man.
Really, really humble guy.
And so will you be walking out to it on Friday?
Maybe.
I told my dad,
I told my dad that he's going to pick the song
that I'm going to walk out.
And it's usually like Mexican music.
Okay.
But hopefully they do play it in the arena when I'm fighting.
Okay, but you don't want to.
necessarily walk out to it no why not i think when i fight for the world title and then i'm gonna i'm gonna
you're gonna rap i'm gonna i'm gonna wrap i'm gonna wrap over man i'll be like roy jones i think it's like the
that is pretty damn cool one of the great songs y'all must have forgot legendary that could be the
the soundtrack for this fight yeah you almost have forgot who andy ruiz is right but i think that if you
walk out rapping to your own song you may like get tired no because you have to put so much into it
I don't know. I've never done that.
Yeah, you never done that.
It's a good point.
But you like it.
You suggest people listen to it.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I like it.
You didn't want to say it for us.
I bump it all the time at the gym.
Okay, so let's go.
You know it up by heart?
Some of it.
Now listen really close.
It's about to get real.
For all you leave, my point is come and step into my field.
I'm going on loud, so let me tell you what's the deal.
Yeah, stuff like that.
Okay, okay.
I like it.
I like it.
I like it.
Respect.
Respect.
One and only for you?
Is that the only song you've written?
I have like three different ones, three different ones.
I got the disc track.
I have like a love song.
I have like a...
Oh, for the ladies.
A dark days song that I, like the dark days that I've been through, you know,
the roller coaster, but it'll be out pretty soon.
Okay, so the other two you haven't released?
I haven't released.
Okay, interesting.
This would be a good week.
Yeah, I just wanted to see how it is.
I'm not trying to be a rapper.
I'm not saying that I'm a rapper, you guys, or I'm the shit, or I'm badass.
it's just it's like a little hobby by the way those dark days like when you say dark days how
dark did it get they got really dark really really what do you mean by that it just you know everybody
goes to roller coaster yeah everybody has ups and downs in their life and especially with with when it
gets mental as well you know especially when you you feel like if you're not good enough you feel like
if you're not going to be the same if you feel like um like if you don't want to do you
do this anymore you know there's a lot of there's a lot of things um that was happening how big did you
get what do you mean how big because i feel like we're always talking about your weight and stuff
now you look amazing but um at your lowest uh probably 300 300 and now what are you
i'm at 257 you looks felt looking very good do you like thank you like where you're at
i'm um i like where i'm at i'm not where i want to be at but
But it's a progress, you know.
Where do you want to be?
Progress.
I just want to be more chill.
I want to look like Anthony Joshua, bro.
Is that possible?
I don't know.
It could be possible.
That's the dream.
Yeah, you just need, you need time.
You want to show up with like an eight pack, chiseled?
I want to have an apeck all buffed out.
Okay, okay.
But maybe it's not for me.
That's what I mean.
Maybe you just don't have the DNA, the genes.
Yeah.
But I've seen a lot of fat people.
that transform and they're like something different.
Okay.
Yeah.
You have to cut out all the,
about the genes.
It's just how you eat, how you work out,
and how you live.
How's your discipline these days with the food?
It's a lot better now.
Like I could, I like fasting.
Oh, you do?
Yeah, I like fasting.
So that's kind of how me stayed in balance.
How long do you fast for?
I don't need breakfast.
Okay.
I don't really do.
Probably, I probably do,
what is that called?
When you eat it?
until like the afternoon.
Oh, like intermittent fasting.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you wait the whole morning, afternoon, you have a meal.
There's times that I worked out that I don't fasted and all that.
And this has helped you.
Lose weight.
What about going to the gym and whatnot?
You're not skipping sessions and all that stuff.
You've been very diligent, focused.
Okay.
If not, man, he's going to be talking shit.
Hey, Andy, where are you at?
Remember the mission.
Remember what you want to accomplish.
Remember you want to be champion again.
Where's that two-time heavyweight champion mindset?
Yeah, okay.
I'm like, yeah, yeah.
There's times that I actually, that I train, that sometimes that I over-trained,
and everybody's like, hey, like, you need to calm down, like, you need to rest a little bit,
you need to do this, you need to do that.
But sometimes we get in the groove, we get in the beast mode.
He hasn't had to give you that call or give you that speech in this training camp.
Where are you at?
Where's the champion?
No, not too many times.
Not too many.
Not too many.
I thought you'd say zero times.
Yeah, but, you know, there's times that you're tired.
You got to listen to your body as well, you know.
You can't just train 100% every single day.
You got to have a little rest days.
Who's going to be the bigger favorite on Friday?
You or Damien, because I know that he has like a huge Polish crowd
that comes to his fights in Jersey.
I don't know.
It's my first time fighting here in Jersey,
and there is a lot of fans of him.
I think my mention is just to win, man.
To win and get those rounds in and move on to the next.
And to be consistent, I would have.
imagine as well, right? Not take two years off or a year off. No way. Like in a perfect,
especially now that we're, I'm back on my team, we're going to stay consistent.
Perfect world. How quickly do you return? I would want to, if everything goes good in this
fight, late December. Oh, that quickly? Yeah, late December. That would be three months. Yeah,
three months. Wow. Have you guys already talked about that? Not trying to look past Friday, but this is what
the team feels um no we haven't talked about it but that's something that if there's something there
why not okay wow so you're you're on a mission here i'm on a mission what do you feel as far as
friday i feel good and i feel confident um i'm not for sure i'm not underestimating um damien or
anything like that i know he's going to come to to to try to win as well and but i'm going to do my
best. I'm doing my best to win and to get them out of there and
move on to the next. And what I love about this, one of the many reasons I like it on TNT.
So on TNT and on TNT and on the zone, yeah. But that's big time on TNT. I like that.
Actually, shout out to my cousin Stephen. He's locked up in federal prison right now.
And he called me too. He's like, hey, I might be able to watch your fight. And I was like,
well, that'd be awesome. Yeah, no subscription required.
Yeah, that'll be awesome. What's he there for? What happened?
Hanging around with the wrong people.
Is this something that you could have been affected by?
No, I was in. No.
No, thank God, no.
Okay.
Your upbringing, you didn't make the wrong choices or hang out with the wrong people.
Yeah, hanging around with the wrong people, with the wrong crowd, and they could get you in trouble.
You hang around with three druggies, you're going to be the fourth druggies.
That's what they usually happens.
Before I let you go, Andy, I'm curious how much of the most of the most of the most of the,
motivation is to not be remembered as just the guy.
Like, I'm sure you're very happy that that's part of the story, but I'm sure you don't
want the story to kind of end there and then some other stuff happened that no one
remembers.
It's like, does it bother you that for now, it's like, okay, that was the peak?
And then there's some other stuff.
You want other peaks, too, I would imagine.
How much of the motivation is attached to that sentiment?
A lot of motivation, especially with the mission that I'm in.
I want to become a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.
I don't want to just be remembered.
Oh, that's the guy that beat up Anthony, Joshua.
Oh, that's the one hit wonder.
Oh, everybody says so many different things.
But if you believe in your mission, if you believe in your dreams that you want to accomplish, it's possible.
You just have to work hard, keep praying, and accomplish those and be disciplined.
I wish you the best.
Good luck to you.
Thank you for coming in.
I know, like I said.
It was fun, man.
It was really fun.
I would always see your shows in our.
all that. I was like, man, one day I'm going to be there. Oh, for real. Yeah. I was super psyched to have you here.
It's a huge honor for us. We'll never forget that fight. It was amazing. And I've always wanted
you to have success and not be that one-hit wonder, at least be viewed as that one-hand wonder. I
know you've been through so much. I want to be a legend, and especially for Mexico, and I want to
bring those belts back. So we are. We're going to do it. You're on your way. Good luck this
Friday. Looking forward to a Prudential Center. Great spot for boxing. I've been to a few fights
there. There's the poster. The
Co-main is amazing as well. So go
check it out if you're in town. And if you're
not, watch it on T&T and DeZone
this Friday. The first
fight for Andy Ruiz under the matchroom umbrella.
Who would have thought seven years ago
that you'd be fighting for Eddie Heron
and company? And by the way, shout out to Eddie. He's going to be
here. He also has a huge fight on
Saturday. Katie Taylor in Ireland
shows how excited he is about working
with you that he'd be here as well. I thought maybe he
was just going to stay over there, but he's coming
to town. No, I love it. And he
He believes in me.
So that's something that why I wanted to sign with him, too.
He believes in me and he knows that I could be a champion again.
So thanks to Anthony, I mean to Anthony Joshua.
Thanks to what?
Thanks to him.
Thanks to him.
Thanks to him.
Thanks, Andy.
All the best to you.
We'll take a quick break.
Say goodbye to Andy.
Be back with more news and notes.
Don't go anywhere.
All right.
Back on the program, that was the fight feast that I spoke about earlier in the show.
And I think it might have been my favorite one.
Yet, I think they've done, how many, 18, 19, 20?
How many have you done?
Yeah, on the YouTube channel, we're at 20 plus now.
Right, because then before you were.
Yeah, we're getting up there.
Officially, 30?
Somewhere.
30, 5?
30, really?
We did like 18 last year.
We've toned down the volume this year.
Yeah, who is to check?
Yeah, who is to check?
I'm kind of running out of cuisines.
No, there's a little.
I mean, you did a whole thing on Mongolian beef.
The last five minutes there.
What's that?
I said, sorry, my bad.
Last five minutes.
No, go watch it.
Go watch you.
Last five minutes there, tremendous.
If you're a fan of the show, and in particular, BITB, definitely, definitely go check it out.
Andy Ruiz fighting this Friday.
In Jersey, are we pulling up?
Brick City, I'm there, room.
I'm there.
I actually was kind of thinking about it when I was like, man, Friday night is not a bad,
like there's no UFC on
you know like competition
you got to watch UFC on Saturday
or anything like that
I pull up
I have reached a point in my life
where I'm like man
if I'm not working
I just would rather watch it at home
for any sport
other than like maybe the Knicks
here bills would be a trip
it's just it's the parking
the this but maybe I should go
it's tough to beat the at home experience
at home experience
go to the boy you got food drinks
bathroom
go to bed right after
you don't have to go
Tonyware.
View is perfect.
But then I see Joe Rogan showing up to matchroom pool events.
And I'm like, well, if he could show up, that was the most random thing of all time.
Not to mention the fact that, you know, like matchroom, Zufa, TKO, they're embroiled in this feud.
There's Joe breaking down pool with the same type of passion and excitement that he has for MMA.
This was amazing.
I love that.
I love that he's so into something that is so, I don't want to call it.
it's not obscure, but it's niche.
I think that's a fair thing to say.
Maybe not in the UK, but certainly in America.
We had Emily Frazier on, who's the head of Matchrooms' multi-sport operation.
And the nine ball, I believe it's called, is one of their big events, the crown jewel of that particular department.
Anyway, Joe was on the broadcast, breaking it all down.
Amazing.
Andy Ruiz, the destroyer, gave us a few bars there.
I noticed, I called it a freestyle.
I guess a freestyle would be like if he was, like, what would I say?
Like, spit some bars?
What's the cool thing to say?
I don't know.
Yeah, spit some bars, man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, can you spit some bars for us?
Hello there, sir.
Do you mind for the Rasa to spit some bars for us?
Straight from.
That's what I'm not.
Illegal.
Why?
Signor Ruiz
Oh no
For favor
Can you spit some bars for us
Por la Rasa
Adios meo
Da-da-na
Oh yeah
Andy Ruiz
That fight
I rewatched the whole thing yesterday
What a freaking scene
It is kind of weird
Watching it and then seeing what happened
In the Pranga fight
With AJ back in July
Because it was eerily
eerily similar. They need to figure out this fight. And I saw a report from Eddie, who is going to join us on
Wednesday, by the way, saying he has not heard back. The infamous, the now infamous addendum has not
been replied to. This is troublesome. This is very troublesome. This is this is worrisome. I'm very
worried about all this. Let us see. Let us see. Okay. We've discussed, oh, I'm all the way down here.
A few other news and notes. Is there another John Jones in Shanghai clip that I have to get to,
or have I showed it all? Missing as, I mean, okay, let's see this last one. What do we have here from
John? What's up everybody? This is the champ John Boat. Former champion, John Bois. And I'm here
in Shanghai. Watching the UFC fights. Guys, if you're not watching, you better chill in. Let's go.
Old habits die hard, Johnny.
I feel you.
Great scene on Saturday.
Zhang Wei Li got a chance to kind of receive and parade around with her Hall of Fame trophy that, of course, she was awarded back in July.
Both her and Yuanian Jacek inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for their incredible fight back in March of 2020.
The second to last UFC fight that I've seen in person, at least for now, look at that.
That's great.
Great to see her back.
It's been a minute since we've seen her.
Lovely stuff.
Of course, this weekend, it's the debut of Saladin Parnaz.
And I saw his team sort of sending him off, if you will.
Let's take a look at this.
Oh, yeah.
Look at this, look at this.
The whole team getting behind Salah.
To where?
What's that?
Sending him off to where?
To battle.
He's in power.
Yeah, I mean, like, it's in Paris.
It's nowhere to go.
It's the send-off.
It's the final spar.
Ooh, look at this.
I don't know.
I'm a pitch.
I mean, right there in Paris, aren't they?
You're not feeling it, Pete.
Do you know what reminds me?
Did you ever see the Crete movies when they start the montage?
Oh, yeah.
And like he stops in the middle of everyone.
He's giving it the, it's like the hybrid rocky moment.
Love a good moment.
Are you pissed?
You're missing it.
A little bit, yeah.
But, you know, what can you do?
It's apples and oranges, isn't it?
Right. No, it is. But it's, I mean, those crowds are always amazing. That main event is amazing. I'm really curious to see what we get from Hooker, by the way. I feel like this is like a real crossroads fight for Hooker. Like, does he become that guy who's just sort of fed to the, you know, like it become, I always say this every time. I don't like the word gatekeeper, lip-mist test, but does he become that guy officially or can he pull it off? How big of an underdog is he? Is he a massive dog? Four to one?
one.
It feels like there's a bit of a trend
these days.
It's the biggest test.
It's the biggest,
like,
he's the highest caliber
of where Saladin's ever fought,
I think.
Yeah,
I guess so.
What's Saladin's
highest profile,
or toughest,
I should say,
opponent so far.
High's profile would be tough
because he was fighting.
Probably the welterweight champion
that he took on in KSW,
but that's obviously a different
kind of challenge.
He's gone up a weight division
he lost there.
His only other loss
is a freak kind of four
Army 8 in this wild exchange in KSW years ago.
It was just one of those wild exchanges.
The guy threw a puncher, I think he hit him, we're here.
And Saladin went down.
It was he avenged the loss later, but it is like, it's always a thing.
Fighting in the UFC is different to fighting everywhere else.
And I think KSW got them the hardest fights that they possibly could.
But it's just different gravy in there, you know?
It's completely different gravy.
This is a massive step up from Kenneth Cross who we fought on that MVP.
card. Even though a lot of people were high on him, I think he is well respected in the,
on the regional circuit. I just think Dan Hooker's been in there with so many guys. He's
pulled off upsets before. What's to say he can't do it again? You like this card?
Yeah, I do like the card. I really like the fight between Ferasiaam and Alex Sola,
Axel Sola, should I say. Solo was a blue star, blue chip prospect coming off of Aries doubleweight
champion. He lost the Mason Jones. But Mason Jones is one of them weird
for it as like a like a gaecie. He can if you if you get into a war with
Mason Jones sometimes he can just go to places that other people haven't been
before. Obviously that didn't happen in his last fight he lost that
similar kind of fight though. But yeah, I really liked that I think there's a lot of
great cards if you're a French out of a fan you're absolutely delighted with this.
Yeah, I think there's some you know some interesting matchups to me the MVP fight
is most interesting,
if only because it could be his final fight in the UFC.
And for his sake,
you want him to go out on top.
So he has the proper leverage and all that stuff.
But, you know, another sort of like,
I don't know,
I don't want to call it a lose-lose,
but it's like, Nerseltan is not exactly a household name,
tough opponent,
not the type of matchup that would be top of mind for MVP
and what could be his final UFC.
fight. It's been a very weird stretch for him in the company right now. But I am probably most
looking forward. I mean, not probably. The main event, that fight, but then the crowd. The crowd
is always amazing in Paris. Unbelievable. A couple weeks later, we'll get the return of Gable
Steven. And I saw him hitting myths with our old friend Brandon Gibson. And he looked like a
freaking beast. Look how fast his hands are. Look at this guy. I've been trying to tell Rick for a long
time. This guy can foyer at the top of the division immediately. And he's just having none of it.
You know what I mean?
I'm seeing it now.
I didn't get it before I get it.
I get it now.
Is Sean Sharaff in trouble?
I think he might be, but again, after this year, man, I don't know.
You're going for a Sean Sharaf upset?
No, but like not...
I would have bet anything that Moses was in that fight.
Upstairs, downstairs, downstairs.
Upstairs, downstairs. I still can't believe it.
I still can't believe it.
What about Zabit Mago Med Shari Pov?
One of the great what ifs.
Every time we talk about him, I have to say that.
He competed this past weekend at the ACBJJ event.
He defeated Yusuf Zalal.
Here he is talking to, I believe, Red Corner about his UFC career
and about an infamous sparring session.
Let's take a look.
I'll translate for all y'all.
I do speak a little Russian.
Hypothetically, if we imagine that there weren't all those canceled fights...
And your career in the UFC was more successful.
I mean, if you had fights and kept moving forward,
at what moment would you have retired
because you were fully satisfied?
I would have retired as soon as I became the champion.
Could you imagine?
With out title defenses, I probably would have defended it once.
That was my plan.
To become the champion, have one title defense and retire.
How many canceled fights did he have?
That whole thing was...
Did he have a good feel?
Let's see.
Tapology.
How many was it?
Okay.
He had Calvin Cater.
He fought in March of 2019.
Okay, let's go back.
He fought Kyle Bokniak in April of 2018.
Then he was supposed to fight Yair in September.
That got canceled.
But he ended up fighting Brandon Davis instead.
All right.
So he fulfilled the date.
Then March of 2019, he fought Jeremy Stevens.
Then October of 2019, he was going to fight Calvin Cater.
That got moved to November of 2019.
and then COVID struck.
I don't know.
That's it.
I don't want Sabit doing an interview.
I'm just save for the record,
don't want to see it.
I like the mystery.
Yeah.
He looks like a wizard.
He's stoic, yeah.
Leave it be, you know what I mean?
Let us just go, oh, man.
What if?
I don't even think he talks.
You know what I mean?
Zabit said he caoed Al Jermaine Sterling in training,
and here's Aljo reacting to that.
So the clip was,
the quote was he was small back then
the videos in the archives and it can't be shown
Al Jermaine saying Zabit
crying emoji face
you're a true gentleman
I was really small back then
I didn't know you then
but I obviously knew how good you were
right after that day
so a confirmation of sorts
I mentioned ACBJJ Muhammad Mukayev
fought on that card
he won one of their titles
here he is reacting to it all
Hi guys today I became ACB Jiu-Jitsu champion thank you so much for the support
Dana said two years ago he can become champion somewhere else yes I became brave CF
champion I become ACB Jiu-Jitsu champion I want five fights for finishes within two years
staying busy staying active and showing the world why I'm the best flyweight in the
world taking over 125 division outside of
and I'm going to keep riding.
I'm still 26.
And thank you so much for the support.
I love you all, guys.
Rick, I have a very good idea.
Let me know what you think of it, okay?
Tell me.
If I'm MVP, I'm going all in.
Right?
I'm trying to go all in on MMA, right?
I'm trying to compete.
You only have so many, like, cases that you can make as to, like, oh, we have the best
guy, right?
You're about to lose Usman, it seems.
Or maybe the UFC is like.
we don't want this person in our promotion.
And even then, that's not a guaranteed best guy.
Right. Yep. Start a flyweight division, sign this dude.
Absolutely.
Now you could say I have the best guy.
You can make a case that you have the best guy.
Yes.
26 is insane.
Yeah, forget even the fact that you could make the claim that you have the best guy.
You need great fighters.
You just need to fill out this roster if you have any chance of being a competitive
product with the UFC.
Now, again, it would be very hard in the early, in the nascent stages to compete.
directly head to head with the UFC. But the way you get there is by building up that talent roster.
You need to start bringing in top level guys. Mohamed Makayev is a top level guy, no doubt.
Absolutely no-brainer, one of the best in the world. And yes, you could start drumming up that
claim and just being like, we have the best flyweight on the roster. And so let's see what you've got.
Flyweight isn't as shallow as it once was. No. It's probably the reason I asked you this is
because you keep saying that it might be the best division in the UFC. There's got to be guys out there
or your favorite.
Yep.
And it's your favorite
because it's the most
entertaining argument
right now.
Start it up, sign this dude.
He was going to fight
on the MVP card,
obviously, so you have a relationship
with him.
There was a visa issue
that he says has been rectified.
That would be my first order of business.
Like, yes, that's our guy.
We're going to build the whole thing around him.
We're going to put him in a title fight
in his debut,
and he's going to be the face
of our flyweight division.
I love that idea.
Can't lie.
Selfishly,
I'd rather see him back in the UFC
because I think he'd be...
But if they don't want him...
Fantastic.
Yeah, if they're...
can't see why they would change their mind now.
Well, I don't know.
He's a young man.
By the way, it's absurd that he's on in the UFC.
It's absolutely absurd that he's on in the UFC.
Like, considering all the knuckleheads that have been in this company,
like, what do he do that was so bad?
Unless there's something that they're not telling us about.
They had the brawl in the hotel.
All right, all right.
People have brawls.
Like, people are jumping over free cages.
Oh, I know.
Yeah.
Usman might get signed after jumping into the cage and...
Come on.
Fainning an elbow at Songadong.
Um...
You know, Armand's getting into a Bobby Green and the...
the hotel, like people have got the chamsat thing with the, you know, his squad with Namofazil.
Like, there's a ton of things.
I like the idea.
I honestly, I think every promotion should want this guy.
He is a fantastic fighter and he can grow with your organization.
He's only 26.
If this guy continues to do this for another 10 years, you've got, you've got so much mileage
you can get.
He's a great fighter and he belongs in a premier organization.
I actually have another good idea for them.
Hit me.
Syma Kayaev, start 125, start a 165.
Oh, do something different so that you can get.
How are you going to differentiate yourself from the UFC?
165 is that one weight class that everyone always spoke about.
Do 155, 65, 75, 75, 75, 85, 85, 85, or do 55, and then just jump to 85, if you feel like it's too tight.
But I feel like that's the one where some fighters will be like, you know what?
This is actually better for me.
Let me go here instead.
You can't, what a Coker do back of the day?
He had women's M.A.
Right?
Yeah.
Got to find a way to differentiate.
I don't hate it.
I do wonder if that will be enough, though.
Because the fighters will...
I'm not saying it's enough, but these are just little different things that you could do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like both these ideas, actually.
Good for you.
PT, you like them?
Winners.
Yeah.
Well, on.
Okay.
PT wasn't listening.
G.C.
Do you like them?
I feel like you fixed it, man.
Thank you.
I appreciate it, guys.
Thank you.
It's so nice of you.
What about this?
Marlon, Cito Vera, and Joseo Aldo fighting at hype fighting?
When is this?
October 4th.
So Cito is fighting September...
Crappling.
Yeah, I grappling.
Cheetos fighting September 19th, and this will be hype grappling.
But they call it hype fighting, no?
Submission only.
Yeah, I think that's the name of the promotion.
It's like hype is trying to go bar for bar with
wrath.
Yeah.
Oh, they're going to
Ecuador.
Okay, this makes
sense.
I like this.
Cheetah's going to
join us on Wednesday.
We could talk to him
about this.
What about Justin
Gaichi getting into the
whole, what is it?
What would you call it?
Motivational speaking.
He spoke to the Gators.
Are the Gators supposed
to be good?
Are they supposed to be good
this year?
All right.
Yeah?
Florida Gators.
Florida.
Tim Tebow's
alma mater.
Let's take a listen to Justin
Gaichie giving the
the youngsters.
a few bits of advice.
Now UFC lightweight champion of the world.
Y'all get my welcome Justin Yacy.
It sure is.
Is it really?
No.
Oh, that's cold, baby.
Football was my favorite sport.
Oh, okay.
By far, I loved how violent, dangerous, and how brutal it was.
I transitioned into fighting because I wasn't as athletically gifted as you boys.
But I saw, I see a lot of,
I see a lot of similarities in the intensity of what I do and what you guys do.
It's all going to come from preparation.
You guys are putting the work in now.
You're at one of the best schools in the entire country for a reason.
You guys got the skills.
So it's going to be about being coachable, being teammates, and working with your team.
And I can't wait to watch you guys.
Okay.
Take some people's head off on the football field.
Life is a competition.
I've always just loved to win.
And to win, I always knew that I'm going to bet on myself.
And I'm only gonna bet if I know I'm ready.
And so I'm gonna be ready for these situations.
Let's go.
Give it up, boys.
Oh, I got, we got some gifts for you.
Oh, you got gifts, you got gifts.
In all your locker rooms, we put one of these bags.
What is it? What is it? Knox?
We took the gloves out.
We took the gloves out.
But leg kicks are free.
Leg kicks are free if whoever wants one.
Thank you guys.
Thank you, bro.
Let's go hard work, boys.
Hard work on three.
One, one.
Family.
All right.
What do you think?
I like the on one.
Get the boys hyped up for Florida Atlantic this weekend.
Oh, FAAU.
Is it for kickoff or what?
Is this week zero?
Did week zero happen?
Week zero is this past week, baby.
Explain week zero to me.
It's just a thing, though, like it's a little appetizer.
It's a little warm-up dish.
Were there games?
There were, yeah.
How many?
A handful.
Like UNCTCU was like the premier match-up.
Okay, okay.
But this is the real deal.
That was in Ireland, right?
Yeah.
It feels like everything's happening in Ireland.
Everything is.
My biggest takeaway was I like the way Justin was carrying the pig skin there, you know?
Yeah, he was very.
He's no Dejan Love, you know what I'm saying?
He looks like he belongs on a football field with the way.
What a legend.
Yeah.
Can I offer some suggestions?
Please.
For Justin.
Yes.
I think he should base it, like, you know, started off like, you know, I'm in the Oval Office.
You know what I mean?
People are saying, you're about to die out there, Justin.
You're finding the greatest for it in the world.
And I said, no.
Enough to fucking day.
That's what I said, boys.
how are you going to feel when you're in the Oval Office?
How are you going to feel?
You know what I mean?
Just put us in the moment there with you.
That's what we're all here for.
It's a great point.
It's a great point.
It'd be like you have a veteran in there and they're not telling you about the war story.
They're telling you about like their life before.
It's like, yeah, tell me what happened on the beach, you know?
Like, we stormed it.
By the way, you're 100% right because that would be what I would want to know as well.
Like the emotions, the nerves, the feelings.
What was it like?
But we only saw like a minute there.
Maybe they pulled them to the side.
Would have been in the video.
No, no, he pulled them to the side.
He told them each individually.
He's like, you know, boys, let me tell you about the time.
Yeah.
I watched this full entrance again today.
So good.
Yeah, so someone posted that.
It's fantastic.
Yeah, it was there.
It was like, ain't old grave.
Going to hold my body down.
Beautiful.
Alex Pereer used it in a hype video.
Did you see that?
Don't care.
Don't care.
It's not his.
Why didn't he's to use?
I don't know.
I think he was saying,
Justin Gaichi showed up saying,
Shama all the time.
Be like, that's not fucking yours
here.
Let's respect each other's territory here.
Has anybody seen Onslaught yet?
Pizza's on fire.
No, I want to see it though.
What is Onsla?
Alex Breyer is a movie.
He's in the 824 film, the action film.
The butcher.
Did it come out?
It just dropped, I think.
Yeah, I think so.
I'm still working on the Marino Dock series.
Can I tell you what I love so much about this?
How many minutes in?
Are you 12?
Actually, Walter and I kind of worked through a full episode.
We're starting episode three.
Full episode. Yeah, yeah.
You know what's so great about it?
It's phenomenal.
September 4th, by the way, on the Pereira movie.
All right, so this Friday.
Come in.
Fuck, that is this Friday.
Pete, I don't know.
Like, NBA history, NFL history, North American sports.
Like, you tell me, oh, and then the Giants played the Patriots.
I know what happened.
So these games are being set up.
I don't actually know what happened.
Oh, shit.
So I'm like, oh.
And then he plays Barsa in the championship.
And I'm like, oh, this is amazing.
And now he's going.
So it's actually like watching a movie play out because I know.
And then he's back.
And then he wins back to.
back at Chelsea? What? This is crazy. Oh, yeah, it's amazing. Oh, how annoying he was when he showed up
when he's, like, so handsome and he's the best talk. Special one. You're like, Fergie is it slipping?
Nah, he's amazing. Give me Marino over a Pep any day. I'm more of a mania.
That's documentary is pretty good. Different kind of documentary. The translator one, that bit,
where they call him the translator at Barsa as a term of like disrespect that he was just the
translator for Sir Bobby. Are you kidding me? This is great. I don't want to give you any spoiler.
Different kind of ducks.
Yeah.
Different kind of ducks, though, right?
Different kind of ducks.
Jose's in retrospective,
and then Pep is like watching a man have a nervous breakdown in every episode.
Yeah, yeah.
Even when he's winning, he's like, this is why I get divorced guys for you.
The passion!
Why are you going to try for me?
The passion!
I just saw this tweet from Erie.
None of the last challengers they've dealt with want to fight.
None of the last challengers they've dealt with want to fight.
So let's move forward and let's face the new challenge.
Stay tuned.
I am back.
I am happy to be back in the true work.
preparation started. Who's he talking about?
I'm coming! Sterling?
That would definitely be a new name.
Pereira's not a light heavyweight.
Ankalia of just won.
Yuri, Paolo.
Paolo?
Does Whitaker count as a new name to the division?
I guess Whitaker's new a 204.
Oh, I've watched the shit out. Oh, I'd love that.
What about Sterling? I feel like Sterling might do.
It could be Sterling. Could be Sterling.
New Channel.
RDR?
These are all new.
No, to 205.
Yeah.
I like all of these.
Got a fresh pain, huh?
I like all of these.
I like all of these.
Dana White did an interview with spinning back fist last week, guys.
Two things of note.
Number one, he was asked about Mount Rushmore being the spot for this unique event.
Give the old smirk the smile.
Do we feel like he tipped his hand?
Is that the spot?
No.
No.
How many of you been to Mount Rushmore?
Okay.
No, I haven't.
I haven't.
No, I haven't.
Everyone's probably been to the White House, right?
If you're from America, you're like, I don't see.
I haven't.
But, yes.
I hear it's great.
We've all been, though.
I was there just a couple months ago.
Yeah, we were.
Don't worry about that.
Never been to Dakota before.
Yeah.
That's where it is, Dakota.
Yeah.
Which Dakota, North or South?
Which one, Pete?
This is your citizenship.
Yeah.
And I ain't talking Ditchieva here.
Yeah.
South.
I'm going to see North.
It's one of the two.
Yeah.
Thank God for that.
You know.
You don't know.
Wow.
Proud American T.C. doesn't know.
It's banned.
Oh.
Is that White House adjacent is what I'm asking the Americans here?
No.
Nah, no, no.
Here's my question.
It's notable, though.
Oh, it's an iconic image.
Like, you will, everybody knows what that is.
It has a, you know, it's what people name four thing lists.
All the time.
I think M.
M.MA people talk about it a whole lot and no other sport ever.
That's what I feel.
Well, Americans.
Who's your Mount Rushmore, 155?
Who's your Mount Rushmore?
They do it a lot of, in a whole many fucking faces.
on a memory of us more. How many?
Four. How many? For now. For now.
I always do five because I don't know. Because nobody else knows
what fuckies are talking about. We're working on the fifth
right now. Who is even on it? What presidents are on it?
Let's go. Let's go. Anyone? George Washington.
Washington is on there. Washington is on there.
Jefferson Roosevelt is also on there. Lincoln.
Lincoln.
To be it. Yeah. Okay. And
Obama? And the fifth.
Who chiseled? Who chiseled them?
Michaelangelo, I believe.
Both. Is that true?
Who did it?
Who
Who?
Michael Angela?
Who made...
It got chisler.
I just taught the water
eroded it in that way.
It did.
And don't let any fucking
anybody tell you otherwise.
It's a conspiracy theory.
They ain't an American if they say otherwise.
Frankie, do you know who it is?
No.
From what I remember, it was some guy.
Oh, good.
It's actually kind of embarrassing.
You guys asked me Canadian history.
and by the way
You know who chiseled the fucking monuments in Canada?
If you do, God bless.
Ask Pizzi who chiseled the door
outside to the left
around the block from Croke Park
you'll tell you a whole history lesson about it.
It's a Gutson Borglum.
You're giving me three more seconds.
It was right on the tip of my tongue.
I could see him saying.
Gutson.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gutz and Barglam.
Actually, it took him from 1927 to 41 to finish it.
Fucking out.
14 years.
And no one even asked him to do it.
His son, Lincoln, actually, took it over.
Abe?
No, Lincoln, Borglum.
Around 400 local miners and workers helped blast and carve the granite mountain using dynamite.
So he didn't redo himself.
He didn't redo himself.
You thought one guy was just sitting there with a chisel, Pizzi?
You thought one guy was hanging off the slide?
One Irish might have to do that in two years.
Two years.
Where is Mel?
A few points of Porter.
Who's going on the Irish Rushmore, Pizzi?
Who's on the Irish Rushmore?
Who is a lot?
Teddy Taylor
Yeah,
Ory Kien
Oh, it's only
Sports
It has nothing to do it
No, I've already
Diversed away from sports
Okay
It's gone
Can you actually see them
Like if you go
Is it is it
Very noticeable
Yes
Are you out of your mind
It's very noticeable
It's not like
It's not like faded
Have you not seen the pictures
Yeah
But
Four clear faces
AI shit
You know
You really see it though
It was literally
Blasted the granite
The hundreds of feet
Tall faces
Can you see it
Long-ass time ago.
I guess like if I squint,
I can die of Washington.
It's like one of those things were...
Is that to be Magamette Sherropov?
It's like when you look at a cloud and you're like,
oh, is that the Milky Way?
Not even close.
No?
They kind of gave Abe and Elvis kind of haircut, didn't they?
Yeah, a little bit.
A little bit.
Went to school on the quiff there.
On the what?
The quiff.
What are you talking?
Keep your Irish sling.
The quiff.
Humble can at it right now.
The motherfucker fucking
Roosevelt has glasses on
Yeah
Is it one of those things
That you can't really tell
It's like a
Is it happening
So you think that he was just playing coy
And that's not the spot
I don't think so
What is playing coy
This is what he does lately
He just doesn't answer the fucking question
He just goes
You know
He doesn't know himself
He's just pointing everyone
Oh there they are
The historically accurate actors
That's amazing.
All of them together.
They did, George.
I say it would be, it would be kind of underwhelming if it happens there.
Like, what's, you know, like, what's the big deal?
I was saying that.
We were talking about local locations.
I don't think that's that cool, if I'm being honest.
Grand Canyon, cool?
No.
Where?
Look at this hole.
Suspended over.
Suspended over.
I mean, now we're in.
Why not?
Oh, you guys, you guys think this is far fed.
Why not?
No, boring.
I saw a wrestling match happening in the middle of a pool this weekend.
Did you guys see this?
What a transition.
BZW, shout out to BZW.
Look at this guys.
In the middle of a pool.
Those kids look like they're there to swim.
Yeah, look at this.
These are like six-year-olds.
They just were there for swimming, and they're like, what the fuck?
Maybe this is the spot.
The BZW indoor pool?
How do they get to the ring?
they swam.
They put them on a loylo and just push them across.
Oh, my God.
I want to book you for this wrestling show.
Can you swim?
Oh, sorry, I got bad news.
It's not going to work.
All right.
So it's not going to be Mount Rushmore.
It's not going to be Niagara Falls and they do it in the same van.
American side, obviously.
Yeah, of course.
They're going to have to do something to get back at Eddie over Crowell Park.
My money's still outer space.
I'm still on outer space.
By the way, can I give you my hot take?
I think Croke Park gets done because of Zufa.
I think just like in pro wrestling,
when there's competition,
you feel like there's a fire under your ass,
all of a sudden you're like,
you know what, I'm going to show these guys,
I'm going to get it done,
I'm going to get a big fight done,
I'm going to make it happen.
I think because of the threat,
the fight,
it finally got them to make it happen.
And they even got that actor,
Barry Keogan to do it,
Keogyn?
Yeah, your favorite, you love him, don't say.
He was so good in Spider-Man the New Day.
Fortunately not
Look at this guy
Pete, you know this guy?
Known well, yeah.
From Summer Hill, there would be so at Crow Park.
All right.
Former amateur boxer.
I'm ashamed to say that...
...in love, hate, or his crime drama series.
Most probably well known for Saltborn at the moment.
You used to go with Sabrina Carpenter.
When it was sent to me this clip, I said, this is great.
The narrator is pretty good.
I feel like he has a future.
What's his name?
He has a future, but it's not in narrating things.
All right, I guess I'm out of touch.
Group around the corn from Crow Park, though.
Pretty cool.
Oh, for real?
Is that why they got him?
I'd say so, yeah.
Summer Hill.
He would have been all about Crowe Park.
For sure.
Another event, guys, that happened this...
Oh, wait, I wanted to say one last thing.
Dana was asked about Tom Asper, I said they're good, all that stuff.
That's good news.
It felt like a whole bunch of nothing, if I'm being honest.
Yeah, I like the positive.
I like the positive.
I like the positivity.
say we hate the guy.
Like we're not done with Tom yet.
He's not going to tip his hand.
Why would they be done with Tom?
They're going to release him so he can go fight on Netflix or go fight for Scott Coker.
Could do the coy smile like he did for Mount Rushmore though.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm being like, this is good.
Is he still in the promotion?
I don't know.
I'm too hung over to deal with these people tonight.
That was just shocked.
You haven't heard that one in a while.
I like this, Frank.
Comes in so hot.
Scott Coker going to make a big announcement, September 14th here in New York.
They're going to announce
maybe the name, maybe some fighters.
So that's in two weeks from today.
Here's Rich Chow, his right-hand man, long-time matchmaker, has seen and done it all,
saying that they're very close to announcing their name.
Let's take a listen.
Far of the whole business of starting this new promotion, wasn't raising money, building a team.
It's the name.
It's so hard to come up with the name that that's,
unique that you can own yeah yeah we're close okay we're close I don't want to say it yet
because it might not the the lawyers are working on it but it's funny the hardest thing has been
the name yeah yeah because we don't have the name yet yeah there you go strike something do
you plus or minus the word strike in the name once they don't take my name I don't care
we've moved on from over under to plus or more oh you didn't
here, Pizzi, it's the crack.
Could you imagine?
No, the name
with a promotion.
I've had a name for a while.
What is that?
Oh, what is it?
Knockout World.
Knockout World.
That's it.
Sounds like a theme park.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Imagine that.
Anderson Silva's point
Vitor Belfort on Knockout World
this weekend.
It's not a bad shout.
It's not a bad shout.
It's not a bad shout.
And then we just go for it.
How do you think the fight's going to go?
I have a pretty fucking good idea, actually.
I have a pretty fucking good
What if you have one of these cards where there's no knockouts?
Finish the promotion, wrap it up.
Yeah, right?
Close up shop.
Close for business.
Scott Coker is yours, baby.
Knockout world.
He just guarantees it.
You fight until somebody gets knocked out.
There are no other rules.
I can't wait until September 14th and Scott Coker gets up on that day.
And he goes, big curtain drops.
Knockout world.
I love it.
Do you think they're putting too much emphasis on the reveal of the name?
I think so, yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Who gives a fuck, mate?
You know, honestly, just make the points.
What furrows you have?
I don't care what it's called, actually.
You know what I mean?
No matter what it's called, we're just going to be like, uh, okay, all right.
Okay, but devil's, advocate.
If they called it knockout world, that'd be pretty something pretty simple.
That'd be sick.
That'd be sick.
It'd be the de facto number two.
No fighters.
I don't copyright it.
It's open.
Better get on that.
Go ahead.
Rich, it's there.
You know what this reminds me of when a city gets a new sports team?
and there's like a big hullabaloo over like, what are they going to be called?
What are they going to be called?
What are they going to be called?
This is, because we don't usually get this in fight sports.
And I hope it doesn't turn out.
I remember when the Raptors announced their name and they had like this big sign and it was black.
And Isaiah Thomas walked through.
Well, first they announced Raptors.
And everyone was like, Raptors, Toronto, what is this?
Jurassic Park.
And then Isaiah Thomas walked through and it was like, oh, this is, it's become one of the great logos and all that.
And the jersey, everyone loves it.
but I almost feel like you're destined for failure
when you make such a big deal over the name.
But maybe they're going to blow us away.
No, it should just be press release.
You're right.
Like, oh, new promotion called blah, blah, blah, is going.
But hopefully they'll announce some fighters, format, you know.
I don't think there's a combination of words they could put together
that I'd be blown away by.
It has to be a packet.
What would they name it?
I'm going to be like, oh, my fuck.
It's not just going to be the name, the logo, the package.
The package, hopefully the TV deal, the schedule, the first event.
Like, we need a whole bunch of things.
Yeah, not just like, all right, guys, we're naming it.
And I don't think it's just going to be that.
I don't think it's just going to knock out world.
You know what I mean?
Too much bald tickling about a name.
Nobody cares.
Can I tell you guys something?
Bald tickling or ball tickling?
Ball, like on your testicles.
Yeah.
Did you guys watch AW?
Yesterday?
Anyone?
I did not.
Hand up.
I caught the, like, replays highlights.
I didn't, I wasn't sitting there.
Man, 45 to 50.
50,000 people at Wembley.
It really, like, you got to give them a lot of credit.
This is a promotion that is seven years old, going up against the big, bad WWE,
to sell 45,000 or so tickets to Wembley Stadium, to have it look like that, to have meaningful
matchups.
Brip Baker comes back for the first time in two years.
Great matches, great coverage on Uncrown.com, by the way.
New Day, debuting, now known as New Level.
new level
new level the entrance was great
Austin Creed Coffey
teaming with swerve
Will Osprey the walkout
the entrance for Will Osprey
Pizzi did you see this
this was amazing
he comes out like the teenage wasteland
it was a whole package
narrated by his mom
his mom then they cut to him
walking through like the entrance
old foes of his standing there
his wife giving him a kiss,
puts on the robe,
security guard,
I believe.
No, that might have been moxie.
That was Moxley.
That was Moxley.
My bad.
My eyesight.
Gives him the flag.
The freaking place was electric.
Incredible matchup against Kenny Omega.
Look at this.
This is the number two.
Pretty amazing looking, to be fair.
We got nothing remotely close to this.
I mean, you got Risen, obviously, but like, this is, this is big time shit.
And getting a chance to speak to him last week and knowing the emotions that went into this and how much it meant.
Like, this is, look how nice this looks.
It felt big.
Adam Copeland coming out, the whole crowd singing his song, On This Day.
And you cleanly.
Osprey Juan.
This is, oh, the cope.
I wish we could play it.
We could actually time it, Frank, to win.
Can we play some of this?
Guys, did you hear this?
Okay, listen, listen.
Okay, so like, put it down, put it down for a second.
A little bit, a little bit.
Just look, yeah, okay, so they all go crazy.
Look at this.
This is Edge, right?
You guys know Edge from back in the day.
Look at Wemburne.
Rainy day over there, but I don't think it affected.
Oh, look at that.
The show was great.
It really was.
That looks class.
This part right here.
Put it up, put it up.
No, no.
Wait, it's coming.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, no, no, where is it?
No, I want to hear it, or is that it?
Here, watch, watch.
What happened?
See the end of the clip.
Can I ask a question?
45,000 people singing his thing.
If all four of us sing it at the same time,
it'll sound somewhat like it.
Ask away, PC.
I don't want to be breaking cave baby or anything, all right?
But you see when he's walking out, he's like this?
Yeah.
Like, is that part of the performance?
Like, if you went to see him and there's on a few hundred people.
Hater, bro. Yes, he's taking it all in.
He's soaking it in. The guy's 52 years old. He had a neck injury out for 10 years.
What I'm asking you?
If I go and see him, smaller venue, 300 people. Is he doing this?
He's taking it all in. Yeah, he's taking it out. No, obviously not. He's in one.
Wow. I didn't realize you were such a hater.
Oh, she's asking a question.
If there's that many people, he's not walking out. He's possessed.
He's not even coming out. He's teeming with his childhood best friend, Christian Cage,
against the Young Bucks. Are you kidding me?
Oh, I didn't know if he was taking on.
Geriatric walking out
Just like
What geriatric?
This guy would break you in half.
No, he's saying
Pizzi is making it sound like that.
He's just walking out
and getting people hyped up, man.
Yes, he's possessed.
I'm with you.
I thought it was sick.
That's Adam Copeland right there,
the rated R superstar.
Pizzi's making it sound like
it's Hillary Clinton
walking into the apartment building.
Mitch McIntyrecha.
Whoops.
I can't look that intense.
I'm not a superstar.
A hater.
Anyway.
Oh, God.
Look at that shot, though,
with the dome up top.
What shot?
Oh.
Go back one.
That's a good one.
On this day.
Look at the fight.
We just showed the arena.
What's happening?
Oh, yeah.
Look at them.
Oh, yeah.
Wembley.
This is sick.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
And by the way, nice to finally see a Brit win at Wembley, you know?
Damn.
I just like to say it.
I mean, Dubois beat AJ there, so it doesn't really matter, but, you know.
Kind of rigged the deck with that.
Sure, sure, sure.
It's true.
Yeah, he lost to Usik.
Anyway, that was a great scene.
Uncrowned.com.
Tremendous coverage.
Very proud of our wrestling coverage, MMA boxing.
We had a very busy week.
And, oh, by the way, there was another boxing event in the UK.
MVPW, Chantel Cameron defeating Michaela Mayer.
Very good fight.
They want to run it back?
Well, at least Michaela does.
She thinks she won, but it was a close one.
It was a very close one.
It was happening at around the same time as Atama over in London.
This was in Burma.
Birmingham, but it was a great card, great action, toe to toe to they went, close.
Shantel nicks it, she gets a close, she gets a close decision.
Afterwards, the real fireworks, check out the post-fight interview.
Are we doing this again, or are you on the hunt now for all the belts?
I want to do this again.
It's up to Michaela, but I want to do three-minute rounds.
I'll see you speak to my team, see if Michaela wants it,
but what you're saying is going to beat me so bad that I wouldn't want to be much?
Which is saying he was going to beat me so bad you didn't want to be.
I did beat you, Chantel.
I did beat you. We're lucky in your little backyard. I did beat you and we can have the rematch.
If you want to rake your WBC belt, you can do that. It's your prerogative now. It's your
prerogative. You can do that. I'll just take your ass even harder. But it won't be back here.
And I won't be back here in the UK. So you want to come to the US, you can.
No. You is...
I out... I outboxed you. I outboxed you. I outboxed. And you know what? I'll go and I'll be watch it and I'll give an honest evaluation.
Don't have a reality check.
What? Don't have a reality check. Because you got
I was literally paying with you.
What was laughing at you?
No, you weren't.
Okay.
We'll be like a kid.
You punch like...
It's a .
Then I'll give you that.
Let's pause and have some parliamentary procedure.
Can I ask you about your interpretation?
Love the parliamentary procedure.
What is it?
Let's go with the hands.
Let's go one at a time.
Mikaela, commiserations, first and foremost,
obvious for me to say that you don't agree with the score cards
and you don't agree with the result?
No, I think I have Bob Skierman.
I did.
So again, I'll go back and I'll look
and I'll give myself an honest evaluation.
I'll listen to the fans
do what the public said, but my initial feeling
is yes, I outbox her.
Was she better than you thought
or was she as good as you thought?
I mean, honestly, I thought she was going to put the pressure on more.
She boxing more than I thought, which is fine.
She can notice how to box as well.
Anyway, Cameron unified the belts.
The stats are super close,
super, super close. It was a very close fight.
Cameron saying afterwards, as you just heard,
she wants it to be three minute rounds
the next time they fight.
Michaela Mayer on Sunday apologized for some of the things that happened in the post.
I want to apologize for my poor sportsmanship last night.
My emotions got the best of me.
I have not rewatched the fight yet.
But when I do, I will make an honest assessment and be sure to fix my mistakes in this next camp.
Congratulations to Shantelle Cameron on the win.
It was an honor to share the ring with you.
And I look forward to a rematch.
Thank you to most valuable promotions.
And everyone who came out to support, I'll be back and I'll be better.
Caroline Dubois was also in action defeating Amelia Moore on this card.
Another strong performance for Daniel's younger sister.
She, by the way, training with Manny Robles, who we spoke to Andy Ruiz about.
So she has left her longtime trainer, Shane McGuigan, and is now training with the Robles Camp.
And this was a nice win for her as well.
she really wants that Alicia Baumgartner
title she successfully defended her unified titles
her 135 pound titles
but she wants that Alicia Baumgartner fight
Alicia was at the fight ringside
we told you last week that she's fighting
Alephner Turhan in November
in Arlington Texas and they got into it
after the fact as well take a listen
That was a lacklust of performance
You got to tighten up baby girl
Yeah you're in the USA baby you got tighten up
Technically not in the USA.
You was tired, baby.
You was real tired, baby.
You was real tired, baby.
Double mic.
I'm going to show you what a champ do.
I'm a champion at that, baby.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm at light wake now.
I'm at light wake now.
I'm at like weight now, baby.
But if you're ready,
should we go one at a time
so we can have an eloquent
parliamentary procedure?
He was, he wanted to say it again.
Who faces Elif Nurtuhan?
Let's not disrespect the champion,
but you're in the same way.
class you and Alicia Bamgartland are now.
Yeah. I mean, I've been calling for this for a long time.
After Elif's last fight, I said,
this is wild to be out of the rain like this.
I mean, great stuff.
But we need to see the damn fight.
What happened to Katie Taylor, why come to Colson-Chilz?
You haven't got anything you've asked for.
I've got what I've asked for.
You're moving up to my division.
I'm the best in division, and you know that.
You know that I'm 25 and I'm better than you have been better than you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's have a peaceful discussion.
Hey, listen, this is what it is.
This is what it is.
This lad, hang.
One thing about it, I'm fighting the girl.
You didn't want to fight.
You didn't step up to the play.
Don't look side.
You in the USA now.
Stop going around asking trainers how you beat me because you're not going to beat me.
I'm top dog and I'm back.
Do you beat, do you beat, do you beat, do you beat Elif Nuitohan?
And if so, would you then welcome this.
That's got to happen.
And would you then welcome this fight with Caroline?
Listen, and the new.
His wrist doesn't dance at something.
That's Andy Scott, by the way.
He does a great job for Sky Sports.
and has for a long time.
They're through the ropes.
I know, they're through the ropes.
This stuff is crazy, and it gets a little crazy.
You know, it's interesting.
In MMA, it doesn't get this crazy.
In boxing, it does.
So, like, when you do those MVP events
and, like, Jake is standing right there
or Francis is there,
John Jones is over there,
it's just a little bit different in boxing.
And I think MMA fans don't realize that sometimes
because UFC keeps it so clean.
sure they let guys jump over the cage
and almost spinning back elbowed their
headliner but other than that it's pretty damn clean
it's pretty damn clean
speaking of
let me lob something out there who had a better mic moment
Daniel or Caroline
hard
fuck
bow went hard
you know it's tough it's tough Dan
it's Dan it's Dan
Big Dano dropping
Give me some of that face-to-face shit
Was that it?
Yeah give me some of that face-to-face shit my boy
Give me some of that face-to-face shit
Frankie, can we keep that one?
I like that one.
Bomb Garner kept saying the U.S.
We're in the U.S., yeah.
They were actually in the U.K.
No, was she saying that she's...
The promotion?
No, is she training in the business?
I was confused, honestly.
I don't know.
I think what you was saying, like,
the promotion is U.S. base,
but it doesn't make a lot of sense.
They're literally in the U.K.
as she's saying this.
They've got a fight.
I mean, but you see that interaction.
They have to, like, that's...
I don't even care if Baumgartner loses her next fight.
Fight.
I think they should both have a warm-up fight.
No.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Good idea.
Pete.
Pete.
Yes, you're finally getting boxing.
Yes.
The beauty of MVP essentially being the home to all these women is that they should be able to make these fights.
Caroline seems ready to go.
Oh, she's been ready.
She seems like she is.
She's warm.
She is good to go for it.
She's been ready.
She has been ready.
Do we have any super chats?
I feel like we covered it all from this past weekend, right?
bit of a crazy one guys oh this is a good one this is from um tom tanaka ariel favorite oh you know what
before we get to that i see one from uh it just kind of caught my eye uh this is from last week memo rdz
said anita yogurt update shout out to all of you now this is from a last week super chat i'm doubling up
but it reminded me that we've never closed a loop on yogurt gate 2027 or 2026 sorry um and we do have
an unfortunate update. What the fuck? What is this? What is it? What is it? You're
what? What is going on? What's the update, bro? No, you said you had an update. What's the
update? What's the update? What even beat these guys? The bit of honey in there?
What? Makes it class.
Did no way. Honey down what about this, what the hell?
Wait a second, wait a second, wait a second.
You got an update?
You said not mixing in, right?
No, no, no, you go bite by bite, Pete.
The honey is great.
What that?
I'm so hungry right now.
Watch.
Wait a second.
Oh, my God.
I can't breathe.
I'm like most of the time on the ninth.
Guys, I want the audience to understand something.
This message that I'm reading is from Thursday.
We did not plan any of that.
this. How did you guys have all this yogurt
ready to go? There clearly was
a bit. I like to have a
yogurt when I'm finished. How did you get it?
We prepped. I found one of yogurt.
I found one on the corner of the counter out there.
Is that Fajet? Let me see yours P, C, or is it a
knockoff Irish version?
You got the Fasier, too.
Wait a second. Is yours lactose free?
Is yours lactose free?
Who doesn't get to Fajéé?
Faye, by the way. I learned that
last week.
How did you guys get all that yogurt? Did you go
to the thing this morning.
Oh, we're sitting out on the counter.
Corner the counter.
You went to the thing this morning, 100 year anniversary.
This is the 100 year, Annie.
That's tomorrow, by the way.
Look, Andy, zoom in on me right here.
You see this tear.
I have a tear rolling down.
You see that?
See it?
You see the tear.
That's not from happiness.
That's from sadness that I've been betrayed by all of you.
We asked Yahoo for an update, and what did they say?
They laughed in our face.
Did they not?
Security.
Did security not say?
Hey.
Two of their protection.
Sometimes I see how little the honey cup is on the side.
I'm like, there's no way that's getting through this.
It's perfect, right?
It's perfect.
It gets all the way.
A little bit of this, a little bit of that.
A scoopage, a scoopage.
Where's the security footage?
I don't know, but you better start guarding those more and more now that we've-
So good, right?
Is it not elite?
I'm so good.
Yeah.
So good.
Frank, are you having it too?
No, boss.
You are?
No.
Okay.
You don't want any part of this.
I wouldn't have anything to do it.
Wow, this is crazy.
I'm the one who took it last week.
He's a fucking lovely.
Yeah, they are good.
Who set this all up?
I don't understand.
What are you talking?
Like, set what up?
So we're not getting the footage?
Is that the bottom line?
No footage?
What's?
We're getting Marty's fucking...
Do we have the footage?
No, we don't have the footage.
Oh, my God, I would have died.
What did they say?
There might be too much on the in here.
What, no, no, it's perfect.
I do that.
At the end, I save it for the end.
I really want to know what they say?
Like back in the day I used to have Dunkeroo's, I would not have a lot of the icing, and then I would go,
okay, what did they say?
What did they say?
I said, you goofy fucks really want us to waste our resources?
Yes.
Looking for this stupid yogurt?
Sir, a man got murdered in this office last week.
You want us to investigate the yogurt?
Oh, the next super chat is the yogurt, so it would have come up.
All right, all right.
Wow.
Okay.
Well, let me skip to that one first.
They're so good.
There's one in the fridge.
No, no, no.
Don't you dare touch that one.
I'll freaking tackle you.
Don Carlo asked,
Buenos Tardez.
See that, Andy.
Buenos Tardez.
One Yogurt Gate update,
well, we just got it
and we ain't getting it.
Who are you sparring?
Wouldn't you want to know?
Has PT seen foreigner
with Jackie Chan,
Pierce Brosnan?
Have you?
Ptty?
No.
No.
Okay.
And he's asking for a Brendan Schaubb fight feast.
That'd be a dream.
That would be a dream
Fight feast X
Shut up
Diaries
Oh yeah
Yeah
And then a quick trip
To Changs afterward
Yeah we did Changs
I feel like we can
Figure out a new
Changs with Brennan Sharper
Are you kidding me
What if we
Cook that Changs
What if we actually went
On the friar
Went oh my god
Orange chicken
Next time we go to Cali
We're linking up with
Brown Bear
I think he's in Texas
Next time we go to Texas
We're linking up with Brown Bay
By the way
The foreigner
Fucking great
It's big brown
That's great
Next time we go to Texas
We're linking up
with Big Brown.
Forner is a
theatrical release or?
I don't know if it was a streamer
or if it was a great action film.
All right.
Jackie Chan,
Pierce,
Braddon.
Was he in Ireland or something?
Why would I say it?
Yeah, I don't know why he's asking you
specifically.
Jackie Chan.
Because you're a foreigner?
Wow.
Wow.
I mean, oh, boy.
I'm a lot of foreigner.
I'm in fucking Ireland,
man.
Yeah.
I'm a fucking Torah bread here.
You won't get wine.
one more fucking orders of me.
Carol,
Forst Kings of Ireland.
Go on fuck yourself.
Oh, Pierce Brosnan's Irish.
That's why.
Tom Tanaka asked what my favorite
Montreal wrestling memory is.
Well, screw job comes to mind,
but it wasn't a great memory.
For me personally,
first grade birthday party,
I tell my parents,
I want to go to this wrestling.
I've never been to a wrestling event,
Montreal Forum.
All my friends are going,
everyone at school is talking about it
on a Friday night.
I don't have tickets.
I don't have tickets.
I'm playing.
playing in the basement with my brothers.
I all of a sudden, I'll never forget,
I see these feet walking by.
I'm like, wait a second, I know those feet.
I run upstairs, and all my friends are in our kitchen.
And my parents announced that we are going to the Montreal Forum
to watch WWF.
And I'll never forget, Brett Hart, Mr. Perfect.
I've told this story before.
Brett climbs on top of them.
One, two, ding, ding, ding.
This match has been ruled a draw.
Time limit, never forget it.
Sitting next to my friend, Stephen Merling.
I'll also never forget my mom making us hot dogs for dinner that night, but she did not use buns.
She used pita bread, and I was very embarrassed that my Lebanese immigrant mom was using pita bread instead of buns.
Mom, why can't we have buns like all the other kids?
We use pita here.
It was a whole thing.
Yeah, that sounds much better than...
Oh, my God.
My mom used to make me sambusik and man Ushay, all these Lebanese delights.
And she would send them to school.
She would make me pizza with lebna and olives.
And I would eat it like this under my desk because I was so embarrassed that I was having like, I'm like, why can't I just have peanut butter and jelly?
Now I would do anything to have that.
I would do literally anything to have that.
So let me understand.
Youth is wasted on the young.
The parents invited all the friends without telling you.
My parents.
Yeah.
And they just showed up and then you were like, holy shit, we're going.
It was a surprise part.
Yeah.
I'll never forget it.
Were you, when you didn't know that you were going,
were you like stewing in your room thinking everybody's going but me?
No, I just felt like everyone was talking about it at school.
Oh, wrestling's coming to town.
Oh my God.
WWF Brett Hart.
I think Undertaker was, you know, Hogan, all that stuff.
And I was like, ah, man.
But on that day, yeah, yeah.
You were over it or like, you were like,
I remember feeling like left out.
Okay, okay.
Wow.
But the funny thing was, like, we're in first grade.
these kids were messing with me.
They were all saying they were going.
They were going because of me.
Pretty incredible.
They all were on it.
For everybody to keep the illusion is pretty good.
It's like a bunch of eight-year-olds.
Pretty good.
Yeah, but my kids would give it up in one second.
I know.
I was sitting in the car with my daughters
and I was like,
somebody's getting in the car.
Don't tell them this one thing
when they get in the car.
This is the only thing I'm asking of you.
If I ask one thing in my entire life of you,
don't say these five,
words in this sequence when this person gets into the car.
Person sits down, CC.
Blah, blah, blah, blah, exactly what I just told her not to say.
Immediately.
What do you do then?
What do you do?
I'm like, oh, fuck, you know.
I think I just threw her out of the car, I don't know.
Would it have been better not to say that, so it's not top of mind?
No, because she was also going to say it if I don't say it.
So I was just like, let me, let me throw a prayer up and just please, please, please,
don't say it.
Moment the ass, not even the ass hit the seat, the door opens and before they even sit down,
blah, blah, blah, blah, exactly what I just said not to say.
say immediately.
Immediately.
How much hot water did it put you in that situation?
It wasn't great.
It was like, it was not bad.
It was just embarrassing, you know?
No, listen.
It's like when mom packs you the Lebanon.
Yeah, nice.
Because what do you do with the pits?
That's what I kept saying.
Who gives a fuck?
Sounds delicious.
No, I know.
What a lunch?
What I do with the pit?
J-Dash, High Air, E-L.
Perfect analysis of the Usman incident.
I can't wait for Uncle Dana's take tomorrow evening.
You think he even knows what happened?
stupid fucking question
yeah that's pretty much
what we're gonna get
uh
Remy
NYC was a disaster
Joe's pizza trash
John's on bleaker mid
people rude
then Novak loses
I cried with him in the fifth
I came for pizza tennis
and New York City magic
and left with trauma
never again
you didn't go to Lucia's
that's the spot
did we tell this guy where to go
no I don't think so
Well, apparently he didn't have a good time.
Yeah, M&M store.
Yeah, M&M store, Times Square.
You got to go to the two boots.
No joke. Ride the Beast.
Where's that?
Oh, yeah, ride the beast.
What's that?
That's the like the river boats that go super fast and the high-speed boats that they do on the river.
I thought it was just some dude, Frank now.
Wow.
He goes by a different name now.
Wow.
Wow.
Frank?
Hey, yo.
He heard what he heard.
All right.
Jens, tomorrow we have a fun day plan for all of you.
Back into the show, we've got the great Jason Mayhem Miller,
who's going to be a part of the first episode of the new season of Dark Side of the Cage.
I've watched half of it.
I will finish it by tomorrow, and it's very good.
Learned a lot about his childhood, so looking forward to that.
Ron Humphrey is going to join us, the Pride of Georgia.
So looking forward to that, remember he was one of the stars of last week's Dana White Contender series show.
Alex Apodaca is going to join us, who had the big win over Belamere last week as well.
What has life been like seven days later?
And I'm super excited about this.
The two newest members of the AEW tag team scene and roster, Kofi, Austin Creed, new level.
Whoa.
I'm on a new level.
Major.
I'm on a new level.
Careful.
Copyright.
Careful.
Oh, yeah.
In their first interview since signing with AEW.
and I do believe in their first interviews since leaving
WWE, they will be joining us as well.
Wednesday is going to be great.
More on that.
Tomorrow, we'll have Eddie Hearn, as I said,
Cheeto Vera and others.
Stay tuned for all of that on the nose on Wednesdays.
We do have something else that's coming out this week,
but I'm waiting for a little more intel on that.
So stay tuned, my friends.
Stay tuned.
For now, though, I think that's it.
Pizzi, when do the...
the Fight Week festivities start over there.
Tomorrow.
Oh, what do we got?
It's tomorrow.
Main event press conference tomorrow.
I believe it is the open workout on Wednesday.
We have the full Joe Eddie goes and tells everyone what they should be looking out for on the card.
Thursday, Friday, Friday.
So how fascinating is this?
Katie and Eddie have been so close.
He worked so hard to get this done.
I know Eddie's going to be at the presser on Tuesday tomorrow.
Then he's coming to Newark for Andy Ruiz, Wednesday, Thursday.
and I think he's staying for the fight,
I could be wrong, and then going back.
You would think he'd want to be in Ireland for the whole week, right?
All the festivities, but...
