Starting point is 00:02:30 or wherever you get your podcast. This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcasts with IHartRadio. Hello, everyone. Welcome to your zillionth episode of the Almost Famous Podcast to hit your apps app this month. We are so grateful for you guys in joining us in the 12 days leading up to The Bachelorette. hello to day 12 this is day 12 and we have the ladies of the hour here gabby and rachel ben you ready to get them on i am let's do it all right ladies thank you so much for being here um i have a dying question that i need to start with okay watch the first episode and i was so stressed because it
Starting point is 00:03:21 brought me back to my single days like going out with friends or like meeting guys with friends and me being so worried that they were going to like the same guy. So there's this scene where you guys reconvene after having some solo time with the guys and you're like, okay, so who do you like? And like, did you kiss anyone? Were you so freaked out that like one, like the other one was going to say that she had already kissed the guy that you were eyeballing? Not really.
Starting point is 00:03:54 I mean, we've already kissed the same guy before. Yeah. You didn't think the kiss was like locking it down, night one. Yeah, we were, I mean, not, I wasn't ever afraid you were going to have kiss someone I, I liked. Because then at least I could have known if you was a good kisser. Right, we could compare notes. Are you being serious? You're this supportive?
Starting point is 00:04:15 I don't think it was really ever thought in my mind. I think we were both so excited for each other and for ourselves that, you know, you really get swept away on the first night. So there's just not even a lot of room to think what if Because so many fun and good things are happening And we're always going to be supportive of each other So you guys are a special special breed I'm thinking back on my time in paradise Night 1 and just being like
Starting point is 00:04:42 Jade is talking to Jared for too long And there you guys are just like Oh you kiss him great is he good? Should I try it out? It's different Yeah Your guys is different. It's so different. I think we obviously were both on Clayton season together and we were kind of used to that
Starting point is 00:05:00 environment and going and knowing we were going to be dating, you know, some of the same guys. Right. And I had to be open. Time really wasn't contingent. So it's like if there was one guy that we both kissed or both like there was 30 other. So it's like there's plenty of fish in the sea. There's no scarcity. True.
Starting point is 00:05:18 That's amazing. Bravo. It is impressive. It is impressive because I don't know if I could do it. I don't know. I think I had dated the same person to have been interested in the same person with my best friend.
Starting point is 00:05:30 I remember this back in high school and they were telling me about their dating story and I got jealous. So kudos to the two of you. That's why you're sitting in this position. So it leads me to ask the question that so many people have been wondering,
Starting point is 00:05:44 when you found out that you both would be bacheloretts, were you excited about this? Or would you have rather been the other way around where only one of you was chosen. Yeah. I mean, I think we just had no idea what to expect. We found out with the rest of the world that we were going to be doing it together. And obviously, we kind of learned at the same time as long as like with the boys as well.
Starting point is 00:06:09 But I couldn't have imagined doing it another way. Yeah. Me either. I think when we were announced at the same time, there was an overwhelming sense of goodness. I didn't ever think it was going to be bad. I feel like we both trust ourselves so much that no matter what we were always going to come out on top. So there really wasn't even any time and it wasn't worth spending any energy like what if this goes bad. You know, they guaranteed that it would be us throughout the whole thing, which is what we were concerned about.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I think at the beginning given the other time that they tried it. But it was really clear from Jessie that we would both be, you know, there till the end. So it's like best case scenario to have a friend by your side. I feel like it'd be so isolating if it was. just you alone. Totally. Let's talk about the moment you found out you're going to be a bachelorette. Did you know backstage, like you had signed the
Starting point is 00:06:58 contract, you were going to be announced as bachelorette, and then all of a sudden they were like, actually there's two of you? Or did they ask you to be bachelorette on the spot? We found out basically at the same time as everyone else. Yeah. Well, what do you mean? Like when
Starting point is 00:07:14 Jesse announced it live on after the final rose, that was when you were, you knew for the first time, you were going to be back to that. Yes. Yeah. No lie. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Everyone always asks us that and we just had no idea. They brought us out there. I didn't know what was happening and then all of a sudden, you know, so it was made. Yeah. They were like, you're going back out and you're like, for what? Yeah. We did our time. What are we doing?
Starting point is 00:07:39 Yeah. But cool. It happens that way. I mean, I remember when I did it, like there was other people in talks. And I didn't know. And I flew out to L.A. And then I did this live show. and before I knew it, I was walking back out.
Starting point is 00:07:52 And they said, hey, it's your deal. And I said, I won't believe you until it happens in front of other people. I won't believe you. So for the two of you, this is obviously a unique circumstance. There's been a lot of people more, I'm going to say now more intrigued with how this season's going to play out. At first, it was a lot of people being like, I don't want two bacheloretts. These girls deserve their moment. Then over time, because of the support you showed for each other, people were more like,
Starting point is 00:08:18 this might make sense. So, like, for the two of you as humans, what was important to you to kind of hold on to and hold true to knowing that so many people were going to be watching this going, are they going to support each other? Are they going to fight with each other? How are they going to uplift each other? So what was unique with each one of you on how you kind of approached being the Bachelorette? Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:39 I think for me, I didn't really care what anyone really thought or what anyone's a pain of it was. I just knew that I always held my friendship with Gabby above all. so it was just going in knowing that me and her we're going to have to have open communication and really just trust each other yeah so i feel like above all just really putting each other first and making sure we both found happiness because it is possible yeah so i mean that's the thing yeah me too there really wasn't a lot of time for us to even weigh the other side it all happened so fast so we couldn't even get lost in what other people were thinking and of course when we're filming we're just so in it but it honestly wasn't even a thought that we would
Starting point is 00:09:18 be, I mean, being in it, that we would be pitted against each other. It's completely our decision in how to behave with their his free will. So, I mean, we just like took it upon ourselves to put each other first because I wouldn't want it any other way. You're going through enough. Dating multiple men is exhausting. I know. Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this. Attention passengers. The pilot is having. an emergency and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane. Think you could do it?
Starting point is 00:09:54 It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this. Do this, pull that, turn this. It's just, I can do it my eyes close. I'm Mani. I'm Noah. This is Devon.
Starting point is 00:10:08 And on our new show, no such thing. We get to the bottom of questions like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence. Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise. And then, as we try the whole thing out for real, wait, what?
Starting point is 00:10:28 Oh, that's the run right. I'm looking at this thing. See? Listen to no such thing on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, my name is Enya Humanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom.
Starting point is 00:10:46 If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Your entire identity has been fabricated. Your beloved brother goes missing without a trace. You discover the depths of your mother's illness, the way it has echoed and reverberated throughout your life, impacting your very legacy. Hi, I'm Danny Shapiro, and these are just a few of the profound and powerful stories I'll be mining on our 12th season of Family Secrets. With over 37 million downloads, we continue to be moved and inspired by our guests and their courageously told stories. I can't wait to share 10 powerful new episodes with you, stories of tangled up identities, concealed truths, and the way in which family secrets almost always need to be told.
Starting point is 00:11:56 I hope you'll join me and my extraordinary guests for this new season of Family Secrets. Listen to Family Secrets Season 12 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My name is Ed. Everyone say hello, Ed. Hello, Ed. From a very rural background myself, my dad is a farmer and my mom is a cousin, so like, it's not like...
Starting point is 00:12:18 What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. On 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his first. family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
Starting point is 00:12:53 A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, Siss, what if I could promise you you never had to live? listen to a condescending finance bro, tell you how to manage your money again. Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards. If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem a year from now. When you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates,
Starting point is 00:13:31 I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt when it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it. And in fact, it may get even worse. For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:14:11 They mentioned free will, Ashley, and so many times on this podcast especially, people come on and read the headlines of people being very upset with their time on the show. And I get that, right? Some people do not have a great experience. And that's fair to them. But some people do. Some people enjoy it. Do you feel, we already saw it on night one where you kind of changed the rules and you put your foot down. You said, that's the way we think we should do it. Leaving now and looking back, do you feel like this experience was unique in how you wanted it to be done? Or do you feel like you were pushed around and told what to do and spit out the end and you're like, I guess this kind of worked out? Not at all. I feel like we really did kind of pave the way for the way.
Starting point is 00:14:53 way this was, you know, this experience was filmed in the way we did it. We just, you know, had a lot of say. So I feel really good about it. Me too. I think Rachel and I, too, is what helped us so much is we're both really real, raw, genuine people and we're both so honest with each other and everyone around us. So it really couldn't have happened a different way. So we kind of get a little bit of it in the scenes for the next episode. And we certainly saw what Jesse meant by you guys not like all the rules that
Starting point is 00:15:27 we kind of traditionally see happen with the show applying to you guys since there's two bachelor's like what I talk about is the first row ceremony you guys kind of made it a collaborative effort you're like I really want to like skip the ceremony part let's eliminate the guys
Starting point is 00:15:40 we totally don't have a connection with what else can we expect will be untraditional and can you give us any clues as to like at what point you're going to select your teams kind of like are we going to say you're for me and she's for and he's for you i think with us like the initial thing was really just wanting it to happen as organic as possible and a lot of guys like even straight off the bat you know they came for one or felt a connection with the other so a lot of it was just meeting
Starting point is 00:16:12 people and kind of figuring it out along the way but as for like traditional roles like we never thought that we had to do something like oh there needs to be a roast room or there needs to be a cocktail party like if we didn't feel comfortable with something we would kind of take it into our own hands yeah okay so when do we think that we're going to see like a division here like one are the guys going to have to are the guys going to pick which one they want to continue dating or are you girls going to pick I think in the scenes the next episode we see a little a preview of you guys picking drafting your team I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:49 You have to leave. Tune in. Unbelievable. You're good at this. You just say tune in and nobody can ask a follow-up question. You've been in our position. Yeah. Well, it is something I get asked a lot.
Starting point is 00:17:03 There's like four questions that you're now going to get asked. At least for me, it's been six years. So at least the next six years of your life, you're going to be asked about four questions that people want to know. The one that I get asked the most is what I want to ask you because there's more men now than ever before. what week, be honest with me, what week did you feel like you started to know the men's names confidently, where you weren't standing up there to group date being like, I'm thinking to back
Starting point is 00:17:27 your head and maybe like, sorry, I got to take a drink and go and ask the producer, like, what's their name again? Week 10. Week 10. Weeks, when did you start to feel confident in having the names down from each one of these 32 contestants? I'm really good with names. I don't know what it was immediately.
Starting point is 00:17:46 I was able to put, like, limo entrances with names. So it happened for me really quickly. Yeah. I would say week two or three, probably by the time we got it settled in. Yeah. But, yeah, I mean, yeah. She's like, if I meet your family, I'll know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Like, kind of a connection or relationship. But I just am not a names person, but I don't know. It happened eventually. I would just lean over and I'd be like, you know. You're like, do I like, yeah. Yeah. That's awesome. That's so good.
Starting point is 00:18:18 That is very helpful. That's very helpful. That's great. I would be more like Gabby. All right. So night one, you guys have like your first instincts, right? Your first impression rose is obviously. Do the guys that got your attention on night one stand as the guys who you felt most strongly about throughout the entire way?
Starting point is 00:18:43 Are there surprises? Did you lose interest? and some of the guys that you thought night one you were definitely into. That's what's always fascinating to me because I know that if I were The Bachelorette, I'd be like, that one, that one, that's it. Stop the game, we're over.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Let's go to week, you know, top three. Did you guys get surprised? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I was shocked. I mean, I really think, of course, you have initial, like, connection and who you think is cute,
Starting point is 00:19:09 but there is something so intangible about, like, chemistry. And you really don't know that until you get to know them more and then someone could just like really surprise you or somebody you thought you had a good connection with like might not later down the line. Yeah. So it really was just that chemistry and seeing if it was there or not for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:26 And especially in the first night, we didn't get to talk to many men, which is why we ended up canceling the rose ceremony. So based off that, I mean, you're really doing yourself a disservice if you don't remain open minded because relationships progress at many different speeds. I mean, for me on Clayton's season, I feel like I didn't really come into myself until much later. So allowing that for other people, depending on personality types
Starting point is 00:19:49 and kind of what they lead with, it's really beneficial to remain open-minded. You don't have to comment on this, but it's a thought of mine. It really sucks, and you now know to break up with people during this show. It's the worst part,
Starting point is 00:20:05 and it happens about every day or every other day. It always hurts and never gets easier. I love that you didn't have a rose ceremony. I feel terrible for the three dudes that just didn't even make that even make it to pass the first room. I felt like it was a more brutal way to go home. Oh, not that. It was so personal.
Starting point is 00:20:28 I know. We just, I think once we knew we had a decision, we never wanted to lead anyone on. We were so adamant about that. And there was only a couple people we both talked to night one and they just happened to be people we both talked to and knew that there wasn't. where their connection doesn't mean they're amazing because they were incredible guys but you just didn't think yeah it's fair it's fair there's just no you know you're not a bad human for sending somebody home that's a part of the process uh it just was wild to watch well we only have a few more minutes with you um hey it makes good tv it makes good tv and that's important it's actually a little more personal
Starting point is 00:21:03 and meaningful if you get to do it not at a rose ceremony because just not receiving a rose you don't receive any closure yeah you're right you're right you're Right, but it is like such a personal rejection. It's just, no, I don't think anyone's ever done it like that first night. But I think it was more, Rachel carried us. Throughout that, I'm just smiling. She goes, so it was so nice to meet you silence. I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 00:21:28 I'm crazy her and her delivery. Because it does take a lot to be able to, especially the first night. You don't know what you're doing, but you want to make good decision. So I, I mean, bow down to Rachel and in her skill. because I think you did it in such a good way. Definitely. And the thing is, what people don't understand, there's no right way ever to send somebody home.
Starting point is 00:21:50 So, like, we could argue, is there a better, it's like, no, it's always going to hurt. Yeah. Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this. Attention passengers. The pilot is having an emergency, and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane. Think you could do it?
Starting point is 00:22:13 It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this. Do this. I can do it my eyes close. I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devon. And on our new show, no such thing.
Starting point is 00:22:30 We get to the bottom of questions like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence. Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize. that they lack expertise. And then, as we try the whole thing out for real. Wait, what? Oh, that's the run right. I'm looking at this thing.

For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Okay, a big storyline from your time on Clayton season. which his name was brought up way too many times during your first episode but was that he fell in love with multiple people that started years ago
Starting point is 00:26:45 by some fool who decided to do the same thing now though for my own benefit give me something here can you see how it happens the two of you I think I definitely can understand
Starting point is 00:27:00 how you form really strong connections with multiple people I mean, it's just so undeniable because every person is just so different. Every relationship is different. And it is easy to like compartmentalize and really just be with that person when you're with them. So I definitely see it from like that point of view. But I just don't really see it from the point of view of like the way he did it, I guess. It's so open with both of us.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Right. I don't think it was the sentiment that you can fall in love with multiple people. It was the intention and actions behind it and how everything played out afterwards. So I think with that, you know, we have to keep in mind. That's fair. Yeah, that's fair. Let's talk a little bit about the Clayton hate. It seemed to go a little bit overboard, especially when there's that chorus of kids that were singing like we hate Clayton or something like that. How do you feel about him watching this episode?
Starting point is 00:27:51 I mean, he probably won't actually, but he'll hear about it. I wouldn't. Yeah, I mean, obviously, it definitely was, you know, a lot. We heard his name a lot. but I just hope he is, you know, a good sport about it because it really is no hard feelings at all. I just think that that was just the only way some of the guys knew us. Right. I mean, they watched us on his seasons and they saw what we went through.
Starting point is 00:28:14 So I think they were just trying to poke fun at something that like, you know, we're over now. Yeah, I think it was just a nod to our journey because us becoming bachelets together, I'm sure it was a lot of how things ended. So I think they were just trying to relate all the experiences. is. But honestly, no, you know, hard feelings towards Clayton at all. I think it was all just mainly a way to laugh about it. But it's, you know, we wish nothing but happiness for him. We hope that he supports us in our journey and we want to support him moving forward to. That's good. Yeah, it probably won't be hard after that. I mean, I just, it happens every season,
Starting point is 00:28:51 right? People, that's the only way they know how to do it. And they're nervous. They say whatever they know. Yeah. They're just nervous. So weird night. Well, uh, in the last final couple questions here. What can viewers expect from your season? The two of you, give us your best sales pitch. And if you don't mind ending it with the simple question, are you two happy or are you not happy? I think watching us, everybody knows we have a flare for the drama. Yeah. They can expect a lot of tears. I mean, Gabby and I are just, you know, cryers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:27 We'll get the job of a hat. You're welcome. But I just think we the whole time are just doing what was best for us. No matter if that was a traditional layout or not, I'm excited for people to see us kind of go off the route that's like normally taken and get to see our friendship along with two love stories. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Are you happy? Yeah. We're happy. Yeah. Okay. Okay. All right. So now I like to play a game when we have the leads on for the first time.
Starting point is 00:29:56 the beginning of the season. I take the guys that I think you guys liked the most based on night one. And then I ask you to say their name with a straight face because it all started when my mom used to say, say his name with a straight face to me when she thought I was crushing on someone. And if I couldn't do it, that meant that you like him. I know. I know.
Starting point is 00:30:23 But before I ask those guys names, I'm not. want to know which guys did you have conversations with on night one that didn't get aired and that you actually really liked really vived with but we didn't get to see i have one i think brandon and i had a really good conversation they only showed me in the blue suit which i don't think you could even decipher which one we actually sat down and had a really meaningful conversation after yeah that they didn't air okay i literally am trying to think oh my gosh there was just so many conversations. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:59 That was the main one. I think all my basically aired in some capacity. Because we really didn't have that many conversations. Like combined, like less than half. Yeah. We only talked to like combined. You talked to about half the guys combined? Combined.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Yeah. It was we did not get time with them at all. Yeah. And it was so light. It was like you. You guys wrapped so deep into the morning, based on how light it was. All right, Ash, we only have a few minutes left here. You've got to get going with your game.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Oh, whoops. Sorry, I didn't see my time. My time count. Whoopsie. I'm just trying to throw everyone off full disclosure. Okay, game time. Real quick. Rachel, you're up first.
Starting point is 00:31:46 These are the guys that I think you really liked. Say Tino's name. Tino. Oh, okay. Avin. Avin. Jordan V Jordan V
Starting point is 00:32:00 Oh it was a little harder I'm already laughing That was a little harder For people who are not watching this on Instagram She said Tino and Avin with a straight face Jordan H Jordan H Okay
Starting point is 00:32:12 And lastly She's not good at this game She's laughing She's smiling after everybody I think you're good She's saying their name with a straight face She's laughing because Gabby's next to her She's a giggly girl
Starting point is 00:32:24 Yeah Say my name. Hayden. Say Hayden. Hayden. Okay. Well, it would be funny if I named
Starting point is 00:32:36 like Gabby's fiancee in that list. That would be pretty funny. That would be worthy of smiling for a different reason about. All right. Lastly, Gabby, I only have three guys for you.
Starting point is 00:32:47 I felt like you vibed maybe with less, maybe we saw less conversations. But ready, set, go. Mario. Mario. she like she's she couldn't do it she couldn't keep a straight face there Eric Eric
Starting point is 00:33:02 all right that's straight Ryan Ryan all right very tricky all right make sure we get this on Instagram so that you guys can you know you can determine which ones they really really like them you know yourself it's a good game it's a good game well hey Gabby and Rachel uh we really are excited for the two of you, and from all of Bachelor Nation, if I could speak on behalf of them.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Just excited that you two are supporting each other in such an incredible way. I don't know how many times you're going to hear it.
