Starting point is 00:02:28 bring you to the front lines of one tribe's mission one tribe save my life twice welcome to season two of the good stuff listen to the good stuff podcast on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast this is the ben and ashley i almost famous podcast with i heart radio welcome to almost famous podcast we're here today to break down a big announcement in bachelor nation the golden bachelor cast has been revealed. I have an incredible co-host with me today, specifically chosen, not only because of her talents and her wonder and awe, but also because of her experience on the Golden Bachelor. Susan Knowles is co-hosting with me today. Hello, Susan. How are you? Hey, everybody. Thanks for listening. I'm so excited to chat about this. Susan, I'm not going to be
Starting point is 00:03:18 easy on you because here's, I thought about prepping for this. Here's, here's a lot of what I want. Okay. If you listen to the Almost Famous podcast for any period of time, you would know that I am a massive fan of the Golden Series, like a massive fan. I think it is the best decision the Bachelor has made in years. I was a massive fan of your season, of the women that came off of your season, then entering into Jones season and meeting some of the guys from that season.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And I just think it's such a heartwarming, warming, genuine, authentic experience to try to find love. And then also teach us, as I guess we're calling us Youngens, teach us so many things. I agree. I agree. And we are real at this age. We don't have to try to be somebody.
Starting point is 00:04:17 That's the best part of the goldens, I think. Well, we're going to have to convince some people to watch this season, I think, because of who they chose as their bachelor. Yes. Mel Owens was chosen as the Golden Bachelor. I have a theory, Susan, that if I was in charge of the Bachelor franchise, I would have gone away from the attractive Golden Bachelor guy to maybe gone as far as like, hey, I'm finding my 80-year-old dude
Starting point is 00:04:47 who is just wanting love so bad and is wearing... 80? Come on. 75, 70. He's wearing overalls. He's wearing suspenders. This guy's meeting at McDonald's in the morning for breakfast with his friends. There's another show out there. I think it's some country one in the woods or something. I just would have, I don't want the golden to turn into what the bachelor ended up doing, which is where everybody would go on to become influencers. And everybody was just so attractive that they weren't relatable. And Mel obviously came out publicly, he was scrutinized for it.
Starting point is 00:05:26 I haven't met him. I'm not going to, I don't, I'm not holding any judgment towards him as a person until we get to talk to him. But he is a very attractive man who said publicly so I can only take his word that he was going to date younger women. Sometimes we regret things we say. I've been, trust me, a hundred times in my life at least that I've said things. And that's not how I meant it. And I'm really hoping I have met Mel. And one of the things I said to him when I said, welcome to the family.
Starting point is 00:06:00 And he said, thank you, thank you. And he looked really good. And he had his shades on. And I said, would you like, he said, do you have any advice for me? I said, I do. First things first. Take the shades off. I want to look in your eyes.
Starting point is 00:06:13 It was a whole different feeling for me. And what I said was be true to yourself. Don't get caught up in the show or what. some producers are trying to tell you you like this one you don't really stay true to yourself because this can work but you have to be real so am i getting on board with this season you are a wise council a trusted council you have met this guy i don't know anything about him we're going to break down the cast members today here in just a second we're going to fly through the list of incredible cast members that he has joining him on his experience.
Starting point is 00:06:51 But Susan, for the listeners and for me, who's now a skeptic of the thing that I was most supportive of, am I getting behind, as a friend, would you tell me, let's get behind this season? You have to. You absolutely have to. You have to give him room to redeem himself, if you will. I'm almost certain he'll apologize and he'll share why he said what he said. hopefully he was kidding. I mean, we all know that, and it's a known fact in the world, that older men like younger
Starting point is 00:07:22 women. I mean, that's just something that's written. Look at me. I'm an older woman with a younger man. So it goes both ways. We can all do it. But let's give him some grace and let's see. I wish him a lot of luck because I looked at these women.
Starting point is 00:07:39 To me, because we were the first, I think we were. a group that was so different, each and every one of us. You know what I mean? Now that people actually saw the show and those that are going to be on the next one on Mel's season, I hope they're there for all the right reasons too. Because once the show is out, then you catch on,
Starting point is 00:08:03 you know what I mean? Who's doing this now and not now? And go for the right reasons. Let's see what you think of the cast members today. Again, we just mentioned Jesse Palmer will be the host. Mel Owens is your golden bachelor. We have Susan with us today, one of the cast members from the previous season,
Starting point is 00:08:20 who has continued to light up our lives in the best of ways. We're going to start with this, Susan. I'm going to read their name and where they're from. Okay. You give any other thoughts, kind of give the color commentary if that works. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:36 We got Alexandra from Miami, Florida. She's 67. I will give the age as well, because I guess that's important here. Yeah, and she's sexy and she loves a Bob Marley. I think she's going to be a fire that one. We got Amy. You can go on ABC.com to follow along with the pictures and kind of the bios.
Starting point is 00:08:59 We got Amy from Short Hills, New Jersey. She is 63 years old. Amy reminds me from what I've read of me a little bit. Like I love when she says she has a built-in bullshit detector. she's bold and bubbly and she used one of my lines i feel like a kid in a candy store so i think i'm going to like amy and i feel like at this age you do have like that's just a skill set you have it's built in who we're seen too much you've done too much yeah um the next one is somebody i'm confused by she should not be human she is not from this world there's zero
Starting point is 00:09:40 chance this person actually exists. We got Andrea from Los Angeles, California. She's 77 years old, and if I saw on the street, I would say you're 40 maybe. No way does she look 70, not even 77. And isn't she related to someone? Is that true? Who? She's a twin, actually.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Someone that was on our show. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, it's Sandra. sister. No way. Yeah, way. That is true. And look at Sondra. She don't look like she's 75 or 75. Who are their parents? Goodness gracious, you're right. I'm looking at that now. She's one to look out for. She's going to rock his world. If he ever thought he was going to date younger, because that's what's better. No, she's got her shit together. Yeah. Next, we have Carla from Los Angeles, California. She is 62 years old. She likes Safari.
Starting point is 00:10:41 She's going to be a live wire, right? I think so. I mean, she, I think from the video that we watched two of these women, they just seem confident. And I do think the note there is that you open up the door, the season that you were on open up the door for these women to walk into it without kind of the hesitation of what is this thing? They know what they're getting into.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Yes, yes. And you know what? I loved how they showed them in all colors. It was bright. It was cheery. Everybody had their own color when we were all, you know, very formal, very dark. We all had black and sophisticated. And then our true personalities came out.
Starting point is 00:11:19 But this is showing personality right off the get. I also want to comment on the video that we watched. I'm just amazed at these women. They are gorgeous. Like they are stunning, incredible careers. Really, you know, we'll keep adding some notes that we saw. through the video and I want to hear your thoughts and opinions too, but just an incredible cast of people. And I'm really, I am excited to watch them. Up next, we have Carol from Villa Park, California.
Starting point is 00:11:50 She is 63 years old. And plays a tambourine, baby. She's also the family manager for baseball all-star Freddie Freeman. Right? And loves bad money. Goodness gracious. What are we doing? This is amazing. I know. I can't wait to really know. them you know uh we got Cheryl 66 years old from inglewood Colorado right out here where I'm at okay she is uh she's a really fun fact yeah IRS but she has 50 motocross trophies can you imagine so you know I used to own a motorcycle when I was 50 and yeah I was out in Spain rented something and came back and got my license but that that's I admire that I can't wait to get to know her as I hope they have some, like, video footage.
Starting point is 00:12:41 I want to see her. Or one of their dates, right? Yeah, just running off and see if he really can't keep up with somebody 60, 6 years old. He might be a little scared. Next, we got Cindy from Austin, Texas. She is 60 years old. She dated Chuck Norris. She went on a date with Chuck Norris.
Starting point is 00:13:01 I love this. And wait, so a couple of them are from Texas. We got a lot of Texans here. We do have a lot of Texans. Yeah. And so far, Cindy, at 60 years old, is our youngest that we've mentioned. There's obviously somebody a little younger, but about the age range. Her grandfather lived to be 105 years old.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I know, God. Can I just say to me going on my show when I was on, I thought being golden, if you will, everybody had to be 65. Yeah. That threw me. When I looked and saw Joan and this one and that one, I said, wait a minute. You have to have social security before you can be called it. I think it's a very, I think it's a fair statement.
Starting point is 00:13:45 It is. Now I'm looking at 60. It's Cindy. But we do have a 65-year-old in Debbie. Debbie is from Denver, Colorado. She is from where I'm at. I'm really loving about these fun facts. As we're seeing, you know, obviously when you're 65 years old, you've had a lot of fun facts.
Starting point is 00:14:06 But also some of the celebrities, They may have dated. The Robert De Niro, thank you very much. But she's got a fear of height, so I hope she don't have to jump off of the bungee jump or anything. Or climb the wall like Leslie, climbed down. Yeah. You don't tell the show what you're scared of.
Starting point is 00:14:25 I know. Don't do that. Keep it to yourself. If you're scared, put that last. Say the things that you're not scared of because you know she's going to be freaking out. How about her smile and her eyes? She's really pretty. I for some reason I have a thing like maybe she'll go far
Starting point is 00:14:40 just a guess just a guess a lot of confidence in that smile at least get a date I don't know Hi my name is enya umanzor and I'm Drew Phillips and we run a podcast called emergency intercom If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes we're not the podcast for you But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases. But everything is about to change.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, got you.
Starting point is 00:16:00 On America's crime lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors. And you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I had this, like, overwhelming sensation that I had to call it right then. And I just hit call.
Starting point is 00:16:25 I said, you know, hey, I'm Jacob Schick. I'm the CEO of One Tribe Foundation. And I just wanted to call on and let her know. There's a lot of people battling some of the very, same things you're battling. And there is help out there. The Good Stuff podcast, season two, takes a deep look into One Tribe Foundation, a non-profit fighting suicide in the veteran community.
Starting point is 00:16:44 September is National Suicide Prevention Month, so join host Jacob and Ashley Schick as they bring you to the front lines of One Tribe's mission. I was married to a combat army veteran, and he actually took his own life to suicide. One Tribe saved my life twice. There's a lot of love that flows through this place, and it's sincere. Now it's a personal mission. Don't have to go to any more funerals, you know. I got blown up on a React mission.
Starting point is 00:17:07 I ended up having amputation below the knee of my right leg and a traumatic brain injury because I landed on my head. Welcome to Season 2 of the Good Stuff. Listen to the Good Stuff podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth?
Starting point is 00:17:30 Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aimed to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the
Starting point is 00:18:15 iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Betrayal Weekly is back for season two with brand new stories. The detective comes driving up fast and just like screeches right in the parking lot. I swear I'm not crazy, but I think he poisoned me. I feel trapped. My breathing changes. More money, more money, more money. And I went white.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I realize, wow, like he is not a mentor. He's pretty much a monster. New stories, new voices, and shocking manipulations. This didn't just happen to me. It happened to hundreds of. other's people. But these aren't just stories of destruction. They're stories of survival, of people picking up the pieces and daring to tell the truth.
Starting point is 00:19:09 I'm going to tell my story, and I'm going to hold my head up. Listen to Betrayal Weekly on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. next from wasilla alaska i have no clue where that's at she's 71 years old and she wants to be dolly port and i love it the things you write down in this life um she's done three triathlons how about it these people are in shape he's a ex-football player so you know these girls are standing up for themselves there's another one coming way do we get to her uh we have jerry uh from Rockville, Maryland. She's 64 years old. Yes, in healthcare business and loves to fish. Not one of my favorite things. She's a CEO. She does not tolerate bad breath. Bad breath. Who does? I just don't
Starting point is 00:20:13 think it's a thing. Like, I don't think anybody's like, you know what? It's cool. The only problem is on this show, it's long days. You just have one of those mint things for your tongue. That's all. Yeah, the strips. We have Lily. 72 years old. She does not look 72. I'm so I'm saying. Seriously. And she hates bad drivers.
Starting point is 00:20:37 I love that, don't we all? And she likes tennis. Yeah, she plays for the U.S.TA tennis team. Yeah. Another one in shape at 70. Just what we're saying. Blows my mind. It just blows my mind.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Lisa, 66 years old. She is from Marion, Ohio. I can't. That girl is the cutest thing I've ever seen. The way she talks and she's a Swifty. I mean, she loves. She's just adorable to me. I hope she gets on there.
Starting point is 00:21:07 I hope he picks her for something just because I think she's too cute for words. Was a trend we're seeing so far, I feel like she's one of the only, well, yeah, she's one of the only blondes that have come up on our list. We have one other. There's more. There's more. But do you, I mean, it's always. a good teller because I remember when I was the bachelor they do give you a list of what are you
Starting point is 00:21:32 physically attracted to what do you like yeah yeah and I I don't know if they actually care to find that or not if it says anything but well did you say brunette I forget honestly I forget it's been so long but I married a brunette so I guess that would have been my preference yeah let's just say yes I said a brunette a five foot one inch one inch one Brunette was what I was looking for. A perfect brunette for you. Maya is up next from Malibu, California. She is 58 years old.
Starting point is 00:22:05 She is the youngest so far. Yes, yes. Wait, a pro shopper? Like, do you know what my kid? I got to meet this girl because that is one of my passwords. Pro shopper one. Well, this, I mean, this, like, think about the date that she could go on. where he takes her to, like, the mall, which we've seen recently, and they have, like, a shopping spree.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Maybe she could dress him, too. Dreams do come true. That's it. Monica B. from Huntsville, Alabama, she is 62 years old. Yes, and she loves Martha's Vineyard, which is a really cool place, and feeding the ducks with her grandkids. Like, she seems like a nice family-oriented, good mom, mom. We haven't seen, I mean, Susan, I'm kind of running through these quickly, but we haven't seen grandkids mentioned. Not too many of them say it, but I know she does.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Yeah, she says it, which says a lot about her and kind of where she's at in life. Yes. I know during your time on the show, grandkids were a very common topic. Yes. Most of us had them. Yeah, most of you were missing or talking about or sharing about. So, and I think that's a wonderful thing. Monica P is next.
Starting point is 00:23:31 She's from Birmingham, Alabama. She is 60 years old. The skateboarding, that I love. Like, that's awesome that you can skateboard or snowboard. That's not my thing. And she also likes to crochet. That's like the total opposite to me. That must be on her downtime.
Starting point is 00:23:51 It's a Renaissance woman. She can do it all. She can do everything. And loves big hair. Well, she should be from Texas. Because when I did hair back in the day in Texas, I made a fortune because everybody wanted big, blonde hair. Big blonde hair. Absolute gorgeous person that I'm announcing next.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Mylene, who is a casino VIP host in Las Vegas, Nevada. She's 61 years old. Her picture, I mean, it looks like they put like a fan. Stunning. Stunning, stunning, stunning. I mean, you've got to notice her. Yeah. I mean, am I wrong in this picture that we're seeing on the website?
Starting point is 00:24:30 She's the only one that looks like her hair is getting wind blown. I know. I know. It's like perfect. Great headshot. Nicole from Miami Beach, Florida, 64 years old. Oh, yes, a yoga girl. Right?
Starting point is 00:24:45 She's going to be flexible. She's going to be, if she's anything like me in the morning to shock the girls, what I used to do early in the morning. Is that what you'd do? No, no, no. I used to, like, get a rise out of the more quiet women and they'd have coffee in their hands out by the pool, 6.30 in the morning, and I would come out in my little robe
Starting point is 00:25:07 and I'd take it off and I skinny dip every morning. Oh, my gosh, you have to see them. Susan, aren't you scared? Are you crazy? There's cameras everywhere. I said, there's no crew here to film, baby. We're good, just to get a rise out of them. This is a story I've never heard.
Starting point is 00:25:22 This is amazing. It was printed, trust me. It's a beautiful, it's a beautiful way to wake up, especially with that chili pool. I mean, it's like a cold dip in the morning. It's perfect, perfect, yes. Well, Nicole went to culinary school. She's been a vegan for 19 years. She can do handstands in the splits.
Starting point is 00:25:44 So that will be a wild way to wake up in the morning. Yeah, Mel, come on. What's you got, Mel? I'm next, we got Pegg, 62 years old from Las Vegas, Nevada. Can we talk about Peg? First of all, she's got the thickest hair I've ever seen on a woman. And I noticed those things. Firefighter, wait, doing bombs for the last few years.
Starting point is 00:26:06 Like, this girl's going to be a tough cookie. Nothing's going to get by her. I think she's going to be real to the raw sense. I don't know if that'll hurt her. or help her you know what i'm saying like sometimes yeah yeah i have this image in my head though susan i have to share it of her now or 20 years ago being a firefighter she goes and saves the building and it's like almost like a tv show where she takes off her helmet and she flips that big old hair around and everybody just like stop like jaws on the floor like who is this human she's hot she's hot but she's
Starting point is 00:26:48 not going to take any shit no not that one i kind of i'm we need that i look forward to it yes uh robin 63 years old uh from napa california yes a wealth advisor and has her own vineyards now i could be your friend yeah a wealth advisor like really that's big it's a big deal it's it's very different there is one thing i think that does stand out for this season. These women have like all very specific careers. And I'm assuming most of them are either stepping out of those careers and retired or just taking a break to come on the show. But I do think we see a vast array of careers here, everything from advisors to firefighters to dentists. I mean, it's pretty impressive. come on a vineyard you have your own vineyard come on i think it's going to add to the the cast
Starting point is 00:27:51 conversation when we're hearing how they come into each situation i want to know is mellow wine lover i don't know many people that aren't true this is a truth yeah uh Roxanne from Austin Texas she's 63 years old 63 i thought she was only 62 well either way 62 the website says 63. My notes here say 62. So let's say 62 and a half. Okay, whatever. I just, when I look at her, she's going to be a hopeless romantic. I think she's going to fall for him. I mean, these are guesstimates, of course. But as I read their profile, look at their pictures, and just the way she looks in her picture, she's going to fall in love. Well, and she has an interesting note here where she said she sold everything and moved to Costa Rica without knowing anyone. Is that crazy? I mean,
Starting point is 00:28:41 crazy she also has entered into a pool dancing competition she's fiery you got to love it up next susie 62 years old from del mar california yes a realtor a real estate person right yep yeah realtor and also graduated from college at 30 years old as a mom as a mom well somebody else um uh andra she got her master's degree at 61 years old? That's the stories I love too. I mean, that's impressive. When I was getting my undergraduate, I remember I had two classes with somebody
Starting point is 00:29:23 that was probably in their 60s. And I remember back then just being like kind of surprised, but also looking back now as I'm, you know, out of school, like how cool is it that somebody said, you know what? No, I'm going to go get myself an education and start my career in my 60s. I think it's awesome. It's absolutely incredible.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Terry is 71 years old from Houston, Texas. Another one from Texas, a cosmetic dentist. Yes, my implant. She could have saved me money probably. And she's very interesting as well. Like, each and every one of these women have their own thing. And as you said, they don't all talk about being a grandparent, but they're very positive in what they think about life and who they are, where they come from.
Starting point is 00:30:17 You know what I mean? They're not like melting into the background. No, they're not. He's got to run for his money. She's also, she trained herself to be a ventriloquist at nine years old. Have you ever tried that? No. You should, just today.
Starting point is 00:30:35 The lady I talk to my big mouth. Are you kidding? I would be the worst person to do it. Hi, my name is Enya Yumanzoor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD...

He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. I said, you know, hey, I'm Jacob Schick. I'm the CEO of One Tribe Foundation.
Starting point is 00:33:27 And I just wanted to call on and let her know there's a lot of people battling some of the very same things you're battling. And there is help out there. Don't have to go to any more funerals, you know. I got blown up on a React mission. Starting point is 00:34:12 Listen to the Good Stuff podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Betrayal Weekly is back for season two with brand new stories. The detective comes driving up fast and just like screeches right in the parking lot. I swear I'm not crazy. But I think he poisoned me. I feel trapped. My breathing changes.
Starting point is 00:34:37 More money, more money, more money. And I went white. I realized, wow, like, he is not a mentor. He's pretty much a monster. New stories, new voices, and shocking manipulations. This didn't just happen to me. It happened to hundreds of other people. But these aren't just stories of destruction.
Starting point is 00:35:00 They're stories of survival. of people picking up the pieces and daring to tell the truth. I'm going to tell my story, and I'm going to hold my head up. Listen to Betrayal Weekly on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Tracy's 62 years old from Lafayette, Louisiana. My Tracy. Oh, she's an interior. or designer a real southern bell did you see that picture yeah she's known for her big hats and
Starting point is 00:35:37 she's wearing a hat in this picture yes i love it uh she is an interior designer she enjoys again offshore fishing these women are fishing i it's you know what so that's the cast susan here's the interesting part of everything i'm just looking at all their pictures like i did too i was like this is ridiculous the video is absolutely incredible. But what are your overall thoughts on the cast as a whole? This is going to be interesting.
Starting point is 00:36:11 In what way? Because I don't think there's anyone that's really humble. I think they're all big personalities. And like I said before, true to themselves. And they're going to step it up a little bit. I think they're going to step it up. And I think what I loved about your season was the confidence that each woman
Starting point is 00:36:32 brought into the house it isn't this oh my gosh I'm never going to find love one day for a lot of you it was this is a second chance at love and it is I have my own things going I don't need this show I don't need what the show is going to give me but it's a cool opportunity and it's cool to mix things out so I think the confidence is going to be there I'm hoping that when we left our show my best message of all was letting people know that life is so full of possibilities. Over 60 doesn't mean you're dead. It's the best chapter. It might be the last chapter. Hopefully it's a long long, but it's the best one because we don't care anymore. We've experienced so much. And then after watching us, now the next group coming in, I think they're
Starting point is 00:37:21 going to be even bolder and wilder, if you will. Yeah. You know, they're not going to be afraid. Yeah. I want to see who this skinny dipper is this season in the mornings. That's bold um Susan uh we always do this here at the almost famous podcast before season starts can you give me your top three that you think will be there at the very end who i think debby okay i think maybe terry i think it's a lot of texas people uh robin robin just what she does she's very interesting i think she might be one of the finals. I love Peg, and at least I love them, but I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Yeah, I mean, I'm with you. I think for me, I'm going to be watching Nicole, because she can do handstands. And I think that's going to be... If she can do handsstands, or Miami girls. I think Mylene will be interesting, and I'm going to put Debbie in there. So Debbie, Mylene.
Starting point is 00:38:30 What about Lily? Pacific Palisades, retired elementary school teacher Dancing Queen Yeah, you know Here's the truth of this, Susan I look at this and I look at people like Diane from Alaska Like I need to see their personalities I know I know because I think there's going to be like
Starting point is 00:38:49 I have a feeling Mel even if he met what he said in his interview And maybe this is the thing that most fans should go into the season interested in I think he's going to be humbled that his thoughts and opinions were wrong because I think these women are going to give him a run for his money and show him something that he never thought. Yes. I also wonder about the drama.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Do you think there'll be drama? I think some of the women are going to be outspoken, like my peg, like being that firefighter. She doesn't know how to soften the blow. I'm just wondering, like I remember Kathy and Teresa with the zip it. the whole bit. Yeah. The drama looks different during the Golden. Like the Zippet thing in any, you know, Bachelor, Bachelorette season is nothing.
Starting point is 00:39:40 It's not even shown. So I do think there's always going to be drama because it is going to be a bunch of people in a house and it just gets a little annoying for everybody. And there's going to be a moment where somebody speaks up. But I don't want the Golden to ever be drama focused. no gosh that was the best part of our show we really didn't have drama we were genuinely happy whoever got the date we were thrilled for them i mean a couple of them were a little wishy-washy in the end because they all were the few of them falling in love i remember the night before we went
Starting point is 00:40:17 to the pier and a couple of women in my room and i was like are you really in love and they're crying like what am i going to do i said i watched the show you got to tell them you got to tell them you got to You can't let this sit. But who's going to be like the mommy in the house? Like I was, I took care of everybody. I cooked. I don't know. I'm looking at all these professionals.
Starting point is 00:40:40 Nobody said how much they like to cook. Yeah, I don't know if we have any Italians on here either. Maybe that's the problem. Yeah, I think that's the big deal. Susan, last question for you. We will be recapping every episode of the Golden Bachelor. It premieres on September 24th. listen in here to The Almost Famous Podcast as we get into actually knowing these cast members.
Starting point is 00:41:05 But Susan, last question for you in relation to this season. Do you think Mel is going to get engaged at the end of this? You know, I have my doubts. I do. I don't know why, but I have my doubts. But I hope he leaves with somebody. It feels like there's a lot of things that need to be crossed over. and healed before he can actually say, yes, I'm going to engage in this.
Starting point is 00:41:34 It felt like he came into this a little hesitant and not really knowing what this whole experience was. And then open his big mouth. And like I said, I'm sure he was just teasing. Like, not teasing, but it's something that guys say and people say. I hope that's the case. Yeah, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here. I don't think it was a good move.
Starting point is 00:41:53 I think it was probably one of the worst things he could say as the Golden Bachelor. I think it was like... Did you read the tablet? Like the comments? Like get a new one. Like give the guy a break. He made a mistake. You know, I'm always up for the underdog.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Like, give somebody a chance to read them themselves. I'm hoping for a love story is what I'm hoping for here. Again, September 24th, the Golden Bachelor will be airing. We are excited about it here at the Almost News podcast. It might not seem like it, but I am excited about it. I am just more hesitant going into this season as I've, was any of the old former golden seasons, but I am willing to give this guy a benefit of the doubt. Don't be hesitant. This is going to be good. These girls are going to shine.

So according to this study, not being liked actually creates similar pain levels as
