Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, luckily, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend's been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That seems inappropriate. Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast and the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I was diagnosed with cancer on Friday and cancer free the next Friday. No chemo, no radiation, none of that. On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast, I sat down with Warren Campbell, Grammy-winning producer, pastor, and music executive to talk about the beats, the business, and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. Professionally, I started at Deadwell Records. From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music and the purpose that drives it. Listen to Culture raises us on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:08 The U.S. Open is here, and on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain. I'm breaking down the players, the predictions, the pressure, and of course the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very wonderfully experiential sporting event. To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain, and IHeart Women's Sports Production in partnership with Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:01:32 or wherever you get your podcasts. Brought to you by Novartis, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports Network. Why are TSA rules so confusing? You got a hood of you. I take it all! I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devin. And we're best friends and journalists
Starting point is 00:01:47 with a new podcast called No Such Thing, where we get to the bottom of questions like that. Why are you screaming? I can't expect what to do. Now, if the rule was this, the same. Go off on me. I deserve it. You know, lock him up. Listen to no such thing on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. No such thing. Hi, my name is Enya Emanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom.
Starting point is 00:02:16 If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHartRadio.
Starting point is 00:02:44 It's the Almost Famous Podcast. We are here breaking down this week's headlines in Bachelor Nation. And we have some doozies. Ashley, I'm going to start with a few that I think, kind of warm us up a little bit, okay? Just warm us up into the big ones. The Bachelor's Peter Weber and Maria. This is a big one.
Starting point is 00:03:06 It is? I don't think it's the biggest. Oh, why not? I don't know, because it's not like confirmed. We don't really know what's going on. Yeah, but it's not confirmed that they're like hooking up. Right? They're sitting on the same side of the booth.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Let's just jump into it. Okay, so here's the stitch. Peter and Maria were seen out to dinner in New York City All right, so it is misleading You're kind of right because I'm watching the video right now And it's one of those circular booths Where like you just all sit next to each other If you just read the article, it sounds like
Starting point is 00:03:43 Oh, wow, two of them cozy on a date No, they're with a group of people and they're on a booth That is like the semi-circle they happen to be sitting next to each other. So Ben's right, not as juicy. It's not as juicy as we'd want it to be. We will follow along. I'm assuming Peter was in New York City because he did run the New York City Marathon, which we'll talk about in a little bit. I don't know if that's where Maria is living or not right now. I haven't necessarily kept track of that. Actually, the biggest part of this story for me is I look at this video and it is a circular booth. Do you know the story of the
Starting point is 00:04:23 circular booth and I. Do you have a bachelor related story with it? No. Was it like you and me sitting in a booth like that? Oh no. I mean, see, you and I would be sitting like this at some point. If like was a big group of us going out, I'd be like, hey, Ash, sit next to me. I need that's true. Yeah. I need a buffer. No, when we opened up our very first restaurant ever in Denver, Ashkara, my biggest thing I pushed for was to add this circular booth in the corner. Here's the problem with the circular booth. If you sit on the back side of the circular booth, it's a pain in the butt to go to the bathroom or do anything. So nobody wants to sit in the booth. And that's the only thing I ask for. That's why I no longer put my input in when we design our restaurants.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Next headline is this. This is, you know, it's interesting, Ashley, to me, that we've been so invested into the Caitlin Bristow kind of romance journey since really the show. Jason Tardick, as we've definitely spoken about way too many times, is a part of that journey. Well, Jason then moves on to Kat Stickler. She is very famous on TikTok, and Instagram for her content. They dated for, we don't really know how many months, but it was longer than I think we realized. Well, they just recently announced that they broke up. The headline says this, and we're not talking about this as much as I thought we would.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Bachelor Nations Jason Tardick details hard, that's his word, hard, aftermath of Cat Stickler breakup. He was at Heidi Klum's 23rd annual Halloween party. That's probably a pretty big get invite. And on the carpet, he was interviewed. He said, every day gets a little better. I'm doing okay. Breakups are just really hard.
Starting point is 00:06:15 That's it. They're really hard. He goes, I think. My breakup advice, I guess he was asked about that, especially that he's now navigated to public breakups. He says, I think that just sitting in it and learning from everything, and I'm just trying to grow to be a better you than there was yesterday. It's never enough. It's never easy. It's tough. It's interesting. I love Jason. He's one of my closest friends from the franchise. That's not a secret. I need to ask him at some point how he gets these invites. Because let's be
Starting point is 00:06:46 honest. He still is a bachelor contestant who does a finance podcast about money and how money is circulating through our system and all the tips and trades on money. But like he's still going to these huge events. He's always traveling. He's always showing up at something. He's in celebrity games. It's like he is working really hard to keep this thing going. Or maybe I'm missing it. No, no, no, no. He definitely has a great PR person or he himself is the great PR person, but he's definitely hustling. It makes me tired watching it. That's all saying. He's single. Well, he's, well, no, he was doing that when he had girlfriends too. It just makes me tired. Next one is this. Kelsey Anderson's dad, Mark, spends Halloween with One Tree Hill star Barbara Woods. Now, we spoke about this in kind of like
Starting point is 00:07:41 passing, but we have more details now. Yes. So Barbara Allen Woods was the mom on One Tree Hill. She was Nathan's mom. It was Nathan's mom. And she was seen out with Mark. This was like the weekend before Halloween. And they were with her daughter. And they were both dressed up as Cinderella and Prince Charming.
Starting point is 00:08:07 So that's a couple's costume. And they were far enough along as, I don't want to say a couple, that they would do a couple's costume. Do you think they're dating, Ashley? I do. Definitely. And they went Instagram public. So two things.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I know that the age range probably affects things. They probably don't think it's that big of a deal to post a picture on Instagram as a hard launch. But I think that this is something. What do you think? Well, I mean, I think it's awesome.
Starting point is 00:08:40 If they're finding companionship and if this is working, I think Bachelor Nation in general hasn't realized the ramifications of what we're seeing, which means that Mark won't be our golden bachelor. Oh my God, Ben. How did this not done on me yet?
Starting point is 00:08:56 Yeah, we're excited and happy for him. But selfishly, I'm like, dang it. Like, he was going to be a really good choice. Well, Jonathan, it is then. Or Pascal. Come on. Pascal, it's right. Pascal, too.
Starting point is 00:09:08 But I don't know. I still not convinced that Pascal is like ready or once. He's 60-something. He's ready. but does he want, I don't know. This, Ashley, is what I think, and I could be wrong, the biggest headline of all headlines here. Okay, you ready for it?
Starting point is 00:09:26 Yeah. I saw it on Instagram. And as you know, and our listeners know, I am not very social media savvy. It is not a huge part of my life. I usually am behind the times on what is happening with headlines and dating and all these things. and I get caught up by you and on this show. Well, on Instagram this week, I saw Ariel Frankel post a picture or a TikTok with Jeremy Simon.
Starting point is 00:10:03 And I thought this was a big deal. Ariel was obviously a character that we all loved and celebrated during her time on the show. We don't remember Jeremy so much, but that's okay. Well, Jeremy was fourth. We do remember Ariel, and she was further back in time than him. Jeremy was fourth on Jen season. So here's the headline. Ariel Frankel and Jeremy Simon sparked dating rumors with viral TikTok.
Starting point is 00:10:36 So it's pretty much what I just said. Okay. So the two of them are both from New York City area. both from recent seasons they're both Jewish they're both um they both talk about their culture a lot um both part of their hometown episodes this doesn't surprise me this coupling and um this tic talk basically it's her dubbing over the line um because i try dating apps oh god first of all they just need to put all the apps on one app and call it what's left and then the camera panes over to Jeremy, and he's staring at the camera while sitting with Ariel, Ariel, at a restaurant, and then he starts laughing.
Starting point is 00:11:19 You know, Jeremy has, you know, kind of been, obviously from this last season, he did make a name for himself. He was a part of the group that went out in New York with Devon to the club, and so that's kind of how we best know him, honestly, because it's how we last saw him. It's a little recency bias there. can you see this thing working Ashley do you actually think they're dating or is this kind of what bachelor nation seems to be into right now with the gin and jonathan stuff and all these other things is they like to create a headline it's helpful we all like to create a headline it's helpful it's fun and i think that there is something there i don't think that you do it unless someone in the rumored couple is like kind of down to play with a rumor.
Starting point is 00:12:11 Goodness. Right, don't you? I mean, when Jared and I were rumored, you know, when Jared and I would post together. Yeah, I think they're both down to play with it. I doubt there's anything going on. I think it's probably like... Really? Why do you doubt? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Just because... You think she's too hot for him. You do. I don't see it. Let's just say it this way. I don't see it working. Caitlin Bristow praises Zach Clark before 2024, New York Marathon.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Okay. actually either they're the best of friends they are they're the best of friends either they're the best of friends or there is something romantic happening like at some point they just have to tell us because she flew to new york city to like celebrate him doing the marathon if there isn't any romantic involvement then we just want to watch their friendship blossom because it is the most intimate friendship i've ever seen this is one of the most public moments they've had together she was in New York City for the marathon. He posted about the marathon how proud he was, how grateful he was, being part of it.
Starting point is 00:13:17 And then Caitlin wrote in the comments, you are one bright-ass light. We did see pictures of her there. She was there. She was in New York. She was showing a clip from like a holiday display in New York City. And she was like, New York is ready for Christmas, you know, maybe insinuating that she might be there. around Christmas time. And that's what we have. But I think that is a good amount.
Starting point is 00:13:43 And if we're going based off of the pictures of them from New Year's Eve last year, it's as if they've maybe been like best friends for close to a year. Best friends. That's what we'll say. Best friends. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly. And now I'm seriously suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam.
Starting point is 00:14:07 Maybe her boyfriend's just. looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's
Starting point is 00:14:37 certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately, for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him. the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My name is Ed.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Everyone say, hello, Ed? Hello, Ed. I'm from a very rural background myself. My dad is a farmer, and my mom is a cousin, so, like, it's not, like... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I'd just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear.
Starting point is 00:16:20 The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks? into a comedy club. A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:16:49 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases. but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA right now in a backlog
Starting point is 00:17:12 will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught, and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, got you. On America's crime lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors,
Starting point is 00:17:35 And you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Dr. Joy Harden Bradford. And in session 421 of therapy for black girls, I sit down with Dr. Othia and Billy Shaka to explore how our hair connects to our identity, mental health, and the ways we heal. I think hair is a complex language system, right, in terms of it can tell how old you are, your marital status, where you're from, you're a spiritual belief. But I think with social media, there's like a hyperfixation and observation of our hair, right, that this is sometimes the first thing someone sees when we make a post or a reel is how our hair is styled.
Starting point is 00:18:27 We talk about the important role hairstylists play in our community, the pressure to always look put together, and how breaking up with perfection can actually free us. Plus, if you're someone who gets anxious about flying, don't miss session 418 with Dr. Angela Neil Barnett, where we dive into managing flight anxiety. Listen to therapy for black girls on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Speaking of best friends, Tasia Adams also ran the New York Marathon. Who could you imagine if they ran into, ran? Pun intended, into each other.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Along with Peter Weber, obviously Matt Adams also, or sorry, Matt James also ran the marathon. So we had a few bachelor contestants that participated. And grocery store Joe was supposed to, but unfortunately, after all the training and when I was with Zach, just about two months ago, he was so excited for Joe to do this. It's been so good for him. He's been so excited for this. And then he gets a fever the night before and has to pull out of the race. Which was a good move. I remember a couple months ago, there was a TikToker who, like, was talking about how he didn't feel good the night before that he ran a marathon.
Starting point is 00:19:44 And then he passed away. So if you don't feel good, don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Bachelor Nation's Tyler Cameron explains why he initially kept his relationship with Tate Madden private. Yeah, they are so cute. They've been, he's been posting a lot of her on his Instagram. And it'll be like a.
Starting point is 00:20:05 subtle like it's not subtle but for some reason it comes across us to me because it'll be like in the midst of like a carousel or in the midst of a reel he'll like pop something cute of like the two of them kissing or dancing and i don't know it's just kind of like adorbs that like tyler cameron who's dated jjadid and have been like such a hot commodity for years now has settled settled you know stars around it with with a girl that he's known for a long time and a friend from Florida, Tate, he said that the reason
Starting point is 00:20:42 that they've been keeping it quiet is I've been in the scene for a long time. People like to nitpick and like to judge and all that. I've dealt with it, but not everyone else has, aka Tate, and that could be a lot. And so I just wanted to make sure we were in a great place before we started all that. So it means they're in a great place, I think we can assume,
Starting point is 00:21:02 because now they're sharing about it. Good for them. Claire Crawley shares how she'll tell daughter about her bachelorette journey. Claire is definitely a little sassy towards the whole thing now, even though she did a lot of shows, but I do feel like she was, she feels quite wronged by the last one with Dale, understandably so.
Starting point is 00:21:24 And she said that when that time comes when she tells her daughter Rowan, who is only nine months that's right now, she goes i want to always be the example of real and mom was trying her best mom was putting herself out there she was believing in herself mom was following her heart and regardless of if it was on a reality show or something else in life i want to be an example for rowan of you know following your heart and doing what you want to do you go girl uh final headline is this Bachelorette alum, Chase McNary, expecting first baby with wife Ellie. And their quote is, baby McNary 2025.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Well, congratulations to them. They got married. When did they get married? Recently. I want to say within the past six months or so. July. July. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:23 There you go. And now they're having a baby. He's 35. And have you seen him around at all? like does he still live in um no he lives in arizona now oh he lives in arizona now okay well bachelor nation is of course saying congratulations in the comments christmas grousey um adam raven and we're all so happy for them he's gonna be a really good dad he's got like dad energy very similar to you ben dad energy just enough to keep things interesting well that's all the headlines
Starting point is 00:22:55 no no no our final headline is that ben put a crib together this week i did yeah and it was hardest thing he's done in quite some time and that is not belittling the other things that he does. No, I'm exhausted. It was wild. The nursery is now done. How cool is that? It is ready to go. That baby is set up and yeah, I'm pretty pumped about it. I feel pretty good about where we're at. So, thank you, Ashley. We do. Do you know what it's going to be? I do. It's set? Well, it's set. Today, I mean, last week, just came home and said, hey, what about this name? And I was like, I thought we had a name.
Starting point is 00:23:35 And she goes, yeah, but I kind of like this name. And so that still, you know, that still exists. What letter does it start with? I can't tell you. Too many people would guess it. Is it weird? Is it traditional? Is it somewhere in between?
Starting point is 00:23:50 Somewhere in between. It's not going to be weird enough where people are like, whoa. But it's, it is a part of my life, I guess, is the way I would, the only hint I'll give. okay Indiana that's not a bad name actually I don't think that it's kind of cute yeah it's kind of cute all right so but yeah we're uh you know we're I guess we're still open but I was told I think by you to not ever tell anybody our names or somebody told me to not ever tell I've always been a fan of not telling names particularly for me it was with Dawson because it had been picked out for so long and I was like no I don't want to be stealing my name and then you also don't really want
Starting point is 00:24:29 get feedback from other people about the name. Yeah, you don't want that like, hey, this is the name. And then they're like, oh. And you're like, all right. My mom still doesn't like Hayden Haven. She thinks it's ridiculous. I think it's great, Ashley. I'm like, Mom, get used to it.
Starting point is 00:24:46 Hey, and our producer says she's predicting the name is Rose, which I can't believe I said Indiana before Rose when you said it was part of your life. Oh, and Whalen sounds like he's confirming it. All right. See ya, guys. Hey, until next time, I've been Ben. Bye. I'm happy Ashley. Follow the Ben and Ashley I.
