A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers. But it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight. So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer,
Starting point is 00:00:51 the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York, since the son of Sam, available now. We're free on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. On the podcast health stuff, we are tackling all the health questions that keep you up at night. I'm Dr. Priyankawali, a double board certified physician. And I'm Hurricane Dabolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled, do I have scurvy at 3 a.m. And on our show, we're talking about health in a different way, like our episode where we look at diabetes. In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic. How preventable is type 2?
Starting point is 00:01:29 Extremely. Listen to Health Stuff on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Robert Smith, and this is Jacob Goldstein, and we used to host a show called Planet Money. And now we're back making this new podcast called Business History about the best ideas and people and businesses in history. And some of the worst people. Horrible ideas and destructive companies in the history of business. First episode, how Southwest Airlines use cheap seats and free whiskey to fight its way into the airline is. The most Texas story ever.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Listen to business history on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What do you get when you mix 1950s Hollywood, a Cuban musician with a dream, and one of the most iconics it comes of all time? You get Desi Arness. Starting point is 00:02:52 carolina sophia you may know her as the girls who said, I'm crazy and evil. Hi, guys. Thank you for having me. That line just repeated over and over again. And I defended you so much throughout this season. You really did. I actually, I could not even sleep last night just listening to everything back because
Starting point is 00:03:13 I was like, wait, I said yes to this podcast. Let me double check to see like what we need to like get on the same page on. We can have a debate. We can like, I want to see where we align. Even if you had just like talk shit, that's fine. But I wanted to see. like where we coincided and where we didn't and you were very kind to me and in the moments that you were annoyed with me i would have been annoyed with me too if they were real they just weren't real
Starting point is 00:03:35 by the way but we can guess that later well actually let's just get to it now you just open the door for it's so fun remind everyone like why the women supposedly didn't get along with you um was there for good reason no not really let's just let's let's see Stay focused on the reason. I want to hear your response on why you think it happened the way it happened. You know, I try to be very nice when we were filming. I think they were weirdly obsessed with me. And this is going to sound bad.
Starting point is 00:04:08 I'm going to get canceled. This is going to be like... There's no canceling anymore. It doesn't happen. It hasn't happened anymore. It doesn't happen anymore. It's just like, it's like, why are you so obsessed with me? If you think that I'm taking up too much attention, don't give me attention.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I was so ready to be a background person. I was like, if it's not me, I will see myself out. And I really do not understand why everyone was so upset with me. You actually have a very similar, not, I actually wouldn't say vibe, but I think that the girls took you in the house the way that we took Brit. And if anybody back, you know, our audience has watched my season mostly, probably. But since you are much younger than I, I'll say that. I believe that we were all just jealous of her.
Starting point is 00:04:59 You took the word that I mean. I'm not going to say that. Look, we were like, this girl is so ridiculously pretty. He is so into her. And then on top of it, she's like oddly nice,
Starting point is 00:05:12 like so nice that it's creeping us out because you can't be super liked by the lead. So pretty. And then also genuinely this nice. And I think we may have gotten her wrong. I think that just may have been her when we were all like, she's fake. She's fake. Well, thank you. I actually really appreciate that because I think that even like the worst that you could get out of me, which even me watching a background, I can see why that's annoying is like the negativity or me saying like how I really felt at certain times. But I'm like, hasn't that always been a thing though with The Bachelor? Like the point of it is like even though you know you're signing up for this, part of it is the struggle of how you're really feeling. And I think that like in the beginning, I remember night one, I told the producers, everyone's so
Starting point is 00:05:59 nice. Everyone's going to get along. You guys are going to have the most boring season ever because everyone's so cool. And everyone had been sharing their experiences. So I was like, oh, we're really all just friends. And I really wanted to tell myself, we are women in like our late 20s, early 30s. We don't see each other as competition. And I'm very clear that my person is meant for me. And there's no, like, it's not because I feel superior. It's more of like, I'm not in competition with you. so if that's your man that's great if it's mine that's great but like I really wanted that camaraderie and it felt like I'm being fed information and I'm being fed feeling so I'm trying to be the same way for my friends but somehow my experiences were always negative or or
Starting point is 00:06:40 like too like I don't know it was just like I don't know why why it was so annoying every time that I spoke. Ben doesn't agree with this but this is where you know we we differ a little bit But I was more easily persuaded into certain things. And Ben is like, absolutely not. Goodbye. But that's the thing. So this is another thing that this isn't fully shown. But at the beginning of the season, every time they'd be like, so how are you girls all feeling?
Starting point is 00:07:06 I'd be like, pass. I don't want to answer it because I don't want to say I'm jealous, but I'm also not going to be like, I'm so fucking happy. So I would always be like, I really don't want to share. And then the girls would take that out on me and be like, you don't even want to participate. And it's like, so what do you want me to say? You just want me to lie to be. agreeable and say what you want me to say. Oh my gosh. See, you and I would have gotten along so well
Starting point is 00:07:26 because I got into a fight one of those weeks because I was like, you guys, why are you happy for her? Why are you happy? She's just got a rose. And that's not being genuine. We're all jealous and we all want to be her right now. Let's not clap for her. I'm happy for you. I still wish it was me. Like it's like I every time that I would say something, it was so like taken out of context and it was the same thing. One girl would say, let's stop pretending we're happy for each other. And then when I would say it, I, there was a thing that I said. I said, like, I'm as happy for you as I can be. Like, it's not personal.
Starting point is 00:07:57 There you go. That's good. I'm not, I'm not, it's not personal. It's not you that I don't like going on a date with him. It's him going on a day with someone who isn't me. But I'm not bad. I'm just like neutral, but you want to make my neutral negative. So I don't know what to say.
Starting point is 00:08:11 You guys, if you're seeing a clip of this on Instagram, like, you can see Ben just staring at Caroline and I just going, boops. And he's like the voice of like sanity. And we're just like, exactly. Sorry, I'm literally like on one right now. I just chugged this like coffee. So Ben, go ahead. I'll let you talk.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Do you completely disagree with me? Well, first off, hello. It's nice to meet you. I told me guys. This is why we don't let Ashley open up the podcast. Yeah, 1,000%. Like, you guys don't even know the tangent I was prepared to go on. We'll get there.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Yeah, you'll get there at some point. Do I agree with you? I'm more curious about your situation. And I think it's always interesting to me how a villain is created or how a villain is shown on television. And it's never fully what we see. We've met so many of your quote-unquote villains through this show and through real life. And I would say in the 10 years we've done this, and let's just call it 30 seasons that we've walked through, including Paradise, I would say there's three or four. that I would say you're a legitimate, like, oh, you're not the best hang in the world.
Starting point is 00:09:26 And everybody else is like, no, you're great. And then I think there's a few people that weren't getting the villain at it that I'm like, you should have 100% been shown out because you're brutal. I think your strategy of staying quiet is interesting. I do see how you saying pass could come off to other contestants as she's not interested in this. She's disconnected. or maybe she's too good for it. I want to know, though, from you,
Starting point is 00:09:55 we've heard your strategy and kind of what you were going through, but I want to hear from you when you felt during the filming of the season where you looked around and went, oh, crap, I don't know if people like me or potentially I could be the villain of this season. Was there that moment where you realize
Starting point is 00:10:15 I might not like the way this is shown? I want to say I was probably super naive about it like I that's fair most most people are you don't see it if I'm being completely honest I knew that I wasn't being mean I'm like there's still no clips of me talking about anyone who hasn't come at me like you know when they asked you like did you see what she was wearing or like wasn't she like mean I was like I don't care to be involved in this like petty stuff so I was like I don't think that I'm really the villain and I don't think that even even in Scotland after there was a moment where I thought of it but then I snapped out of it because of something else that happened we can sort of go back to this later but um yeah I didn't realize
Starting point is 00:11:00 until the trailer came out and I was like but is that cheeky and funny or is it like I am the villain and I want to mention this I have a soft spot for villains not because I feel like I really was one of them or can relate to your to having to watch this back on national television i have a soft spot for villains because i think i had exposure to one of the worst olivia creedy was the villain on my season when i was the bachelor as the bachelor yours i think was the first one that i ever watched and she was not a villain goodness gracious as the bachelor we loved olivia she was friendly with everybody she was sweet yeah she was more outspoken and she was more invested into like our relationship and definitely took that and made it a priority over the friendships maybe on the show but there was
Starting point is 00:11:55 no moment as the bachelor that I was like oh goodness this poor girl is going to get the villain at it yeah until the show aired and it crushed her and I and I remember going this is just not the way it was and I think most of the girls in the season stood up and said that's not the way it was a soft spot because I know how this happens, but it's not always that way. I don't want to blame editing for all this because sometimes you're like, yeah, you deserved it. You shouldn't have said that thing. So I just wondered, was there that moment where you said something that you're like, this probably is not going to go well? No, the moment that I felt like I was being played to potentially be a villain was that moment in Scotland where I'm sitting by myself. And that was completely not
Starting point is 00:12:43 my decision. Grant pulled three girls to go play a game. And so it was me and Serafina left sitting by ourselves. And then a producer pulled Serafina for an interview. So they make me seem like I wasn't participating, which I was. They even do like the editing where they go like where it's like everyone's like playing a game. If you see the behind the scenes photos, I'm smiling throwing my log. Like I sucked at it, but I had fun. I was trying my best. So in that moment where I'm sitting by myself and the cameras are on me still. I'm like, what's going on? So when Grant comes to talk to me, I tell him, can't you see I'm being like played right now? So he's like, oh, come on, whatever, just like join us. So I go and I join that game that they're all playing and they
Starting point is 00:13:23 edit it differently. So he comes and finds me later. And at this point, I've already forgotten all about like the potential setup. So he pulls me and it seems as if I'm pouting in a corner by myself and just like trying to get his attention. And that's why he comes over at me. But yeah, that was like a, like, I thought of it in the moment in Scotland, forgot about it. And then watching it back, I'm like, yep, I was right. Now, we know that you may have gotten along more than people would have thought. However, I just am guessing that you didn't necessarily get along well with Juliana, because you don't follow on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:14:00 And you said something on TikTok. I'm going to read it. What do I say? Okay. You said, anyone claiming to be ready for an engagement? with The Bachelor before actually going on in one-on-one with that person is probably just trying to win the Bachelor more than connect with the human. So do you think that, like, Juliana was in it for the game?
Starting point is 00:14:20 What's your relationship? Like, how did you jive with her during? I will be super honest. I never liked her. I don't, I wish her well. I think she was always poking the bear and she got a really good edit. I think on her basketball date, I heard she was not nice to Zoe either. And I've even gotten, like, mess with,
Starting point is 00:14:39 from people saying they were like part of that group date and said that she just wasn't a nice person. The night that the Rose thing happened, she started accusing Rose of like putting a damper on the night. So I had to stand up for Rose and be like, if anything, blame me. And that's why the moment she approached me, I was like, what are you getting at? Like you're just starting drama. I think had someone else come to me and been like, hey, just so you know, like, were feeling this type of way and we want you to fix it, it would have been more constructive. But she was coming at me saying,
Starting point is 00:15:15 like, just so you know, we've been talking shit about you. So I'm just going to tell you straight up. So yeah, I don't think she's the greatest person. And I think she was trying to start drama. And I don't think she, there's no way that she could have felt so confident
Starting point is 00:15:30 about him being her person if she hadn't even had a one-on-one date. Like, that's insane. No one can resist a rule of culture, so here's one for the dating files. Rule of culture number 72. Chemistry isn't just vibes, it's values. Because what's the point of matching with someone if you can't talk about the shows you binge, the books you dog ear, or all the hot takes you'll defend at brunch?
Starting point is 00:15:58 I mean, you definitely have friends who have met their partners on Bumble, and it makes sense. It's not just about matching with someone. It's about finding someone who gets your references, your obsessions, your whole vibe. With shared interests and prompts, you don't just see a problem. profile. You get a glimpse of someone's personality, which makes it even easier to start conversations that actually lead somewhere. Plus, with photo and ID verification, you can trust that the person you're talking to is real. With that added piece of mind, it's so
Starting point is 00:16:21 much easier to show up as your full self. So whether your rule of culture is, the best first states start with the shared hot take on Renaissance or compatibility as having the same hometown bodega order, download Bumble, and turn those connections into something bigger. Download Bumble and start your love story. A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. And I want to tell you about my new podcast called The Mailroom. And I'm Jordan, the show's producer. And like a lot of guys, I haven't been to the doctor in many years.
Starting point is 00:17:19 I'll be asking the questions we probably should be asking, but aren't. Because guys usually don't go to the doctor unless a piece of their face is hanging off or they've broken a bone. Depends which bone. Well, that's true. Every week, we're breaking down the unique world of men's health, from testosterone and fitness to diets and fertility, and things that happen in the bedroom. You mean sleep? Yeah, something like that, Jordan.
Starting point is 00:17:42 We'll talk science without the jargon and get you real answers to the stuff you actually wonder about. It's going to be fun, whether you're 27, 97, or somewhere in between. Men's Health is about more than six packs and supplements. It's about energy, confidence, and connection. We don't just want you to live longer. We want you to live better. So check out the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. Hey, I'm Jay Shetty and I'm the host of the On Purpose podcast.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Recently, I had the honor of sitting down with the iconic Chris Jenner. You never quite know what or where life is going to lead you and where it's going to be the best lesson you ever learned and not get distracted by the noise. This is a lot of noise. Even if one of your children has been through something really difficult with their partner or an ex-partner, you still love them as part of the unit and the family.
Starting point is 00:18:35 These are, in most cases, the fathers of my grandchildren. I love these men, and that love doesn't go away when we experience really challenging times with them. Compassion is key into really feeling what somebody might be going through. Even though you don't agree with them, if you once love them, then love is love. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the Iheart Radio app, podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. On the podcast Health Stuff, we are tackling all the health questions
Starting point is 00:19:12 that keep you up at night. Yes, I'm Dr. Priyanko Wally, a double board certified physician. And I'm Hurricane de Bolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled, Do I have scurvy at 3 a.m? On Health Stuff, we're talking about health in a different way.
Starting point is 00:19:26 It's not only about what we can do to improve our health, but also what our health says about us and the way we're living. Like our episode where we look at diabetes. In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic. How preventable is type 2? Extremely.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Or our in-depth analysis of how incredible mangoes are. Oh, it's hard to explain to the rest of the world that, like, your mangoes are fine because mangoes are incredible, but like, you don't even know. You don't know. You don't know. It's going to be a fun ride. So tune in. Listen to Health Stuff on the IHeart Radio.
Starting point is 00:20:05 app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's switch gears a little bit. We've identified your storyline. I am curious also about Grant. We just had Grant on the show. He, I don't actually know if it has happened yet. He was getting ready for the reality games or something. But Grant was the Bachelor of your season.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Give us, if you don't mind, two parts. One, explain Grant to us as The Bachelor, and then also what your attraction or desire to potentially be in a relationship with him actually was. Okay. The grant that I met, like, in the beginning, was very reserved, and I've heard him say that he felt like he had this pressure
Starting point is 00:20:56 to be the Bachelor. And I remember even on night one, I was like, I don't even know if there's going to be a connection there. But I think on that group, date where I made out with him. And on our one-on-one, we had so much fun together. And I think that I felt really, like, comfortable with him. And it felt like a, like, a relationship that could build off of a great friendship. And I felt really flattered that I could see him opening up really quickly. And he would tell me, which, I mean, now he probably told everyone that. But he was
Starting point is 00:21:24 like, I feel like I can just stop being The Bachelor with you and just, like, be myself. So I think that's how I ended up, like, kind of liking him. Oh, that goes into my next question. So we recently had Latia on the podcast and she had said on the show that he called her the one early on. But on our show, she kind of told us even more that he kept saying it. And he kept saying like, I love you and I can't wait, you know, for it to be us in the end. Did he ever say things like that to you? I was listening to that episode. Yeah. On the way here. And I was genuinely like cackling because I think Grant is just like a misunderstood diva. Like I am a fan of Grant.
Starting point is 00:22:06 I think that he is just like genuinely not about person. I just think he's so not self-aware because I've listened to him and I think this man is convinced that he didn't say those things to people. Yeah. The way that he says like, oh, it would be dumb of me to say this while I'm mic'd, I'm like, Grant, be so for real. Like the things that he said to me also while might, crazy. Like I don't know if he told Latia that she was the one, but he was also telling me a lot
Starting point is 00:22:29 of things. mic'd and on mic'd and I would still tell him like tone it down because it's a lot and then he would still continue to do it he didn't call me the ones I will say
Starting point is 00:22:40 but he was like oh when he meet my family and then he would make like Is this what they call love bombing? Absolutely Absolutely I'm still trying to get my terminology always right on this show
Starting point is 00:22:52 and keeping up with the youngens I think the whole process of The Bachelor is so accelerated that it is inevitably kind of love bombing but it's like yeah then don't do it to every girl like yeah be polite be nice like my crash out was because he had said so much on that one-on-one and then me finding out that like he's kind of saying the same thing to everyone and I'm like wait do I need to like reel it back in
Starting point is 00:23:16 like what's going on um and I felt played honestly I don't think I would have been a villain if we had a good bachelor oh wait whoa you're a fan of grant but you don't think he was a good bachelor I'm like Ironically, a fan of Grant. Like, I, I don't... I love her. I love, like, I think Grant is so unaware of how funny he is that I, like, I love... Because it's unintentional. Like, I watch his TikTok, and I'm like, Slade Eva.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Like, yeah, period. Like, I love him. I'm obsessed with him. You love him as entertainment, and he's giving you non-intentional entertainment. Right, right. Yeah. Did it come off that way? Here's what's interesting.
Starting point is 00:23:55 We don't have to dive into this. He didn't come up. off that way, uh, on the bachelor, uh, at. Like, he didn't come off as that, uh, kind of like really expressive, right? He's not being very expressive. Like, he doesn't, I mean, I guess his dances or his, I don't know. I just think, all I'm saying is he's unintentionally funny. Like, he's not being comedic on TikTok, would you say? It's the lack of self-awareness. It's like, it's like the fact that he's so convinced that he's a good guy. And I don't think he's a bad guy either. It's more of like a, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Like, you can't be serious. So what do you think about this celibacy journey? I mean, cool. I'm more concerned about the dating advice. Like, let's be so for real, babe. Like, I, what? But, like, love him, genuinely, like, big fan. So funny.
Starting point is 00:24:48 So have you spoken to him since the show or since the split? No, no, but the other day I was out with a guy that I liked who was also love bombing me and then that also ended very quickly, by the way. Shout out to him if he watches this. And he was, we FaceTime Grant. We tried calling Grant like 20 times. And he was like, are you not embarrassed? Like, Grant's going to think you're obsessed with him.
Starting point is 00:25:07 I'm like, no, this is hilarious. And Grant tried answering, but he, it wasn't like connecting. Okay. So, Carolina, I have to go into this just because you just gave me the window. You don't have a boyfriend anymore? No, not anymore. Like, it was never a boyfriend. Did you have a boyfriend over the summer that you got married to, fakely?
Starting point is 00:25:25 No, no, it was, it was a fake wedding. That was a fake wedding to a friend? Yeah. Oh, okay. Wait, wait. Well, no, don't just skip over this. You don't do this like on a castle Saturday? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:25:38 Okay. So you got married in a fake wedding over the summer. Was it like a sponsored thing? Yeah. Oh, okay. It's like a party that they're throwing in different countries. And in Puerto Rico, it was like, okay, who do we pick for this? And it was kind of like iconic that the girl who,
Starting point is 00:25:55 failed at an engagement, you know, um, would be part of it. So I said, sign me up. Okay, funny. So you have not had a relationship since this trial. No. Okay. So then, uh, you have a childhood crush, quote quote childhood on Joe Jonas. I'm going to check out for the next 15 minutes. Oh my God. Like we could have like our own episode if you'd like about Joe Jonas because I would love to. because like I'm not sure if you know that I'm you know yeah I saw that 18 years of okay but you're married so let me have him can I just really glad that I'm married because every time I go to a show and it's okay like I may be going to my fourth of the tour tomorrow I'm just really glad that I'm married because I would be absolutely mentally ill no I am mentally
Starting point is 00:26:42 ill like I wouldn't be able to go on a date with anyone else like okay so I love that this this past year how are you doing how are you doing being single during the greetings from your hometown show. So this is the thing. It's so peaceful not having a crush. Like I don't, I don't go to bed thinking about any man. But now it's like, I go to bed and I'm like, oh, like, I wish I was just like
Starting point is 00:27:06 cuddling with Joe Jonas right now, which is so psychotic. But I think my obsession is less healthy than it was when I was like 14. I've been pretty unhealthy throughout the entire 18 years. So, um, yeah. But like, can you believe what he's been like? like one hottest he's ever been two funniest he's ever been well no he was always funny that's the thing he has always been funny but he's been like really relaxed lately people didn't get that and that's why that's i think that's why it's so hard for me to date men because i don't like anyone's personality is the
Starting point is 00:27:36 way that i love my parisocial relationship with jo joe jonah his social relationship with joe jonas is so big you remember oh how the tables have turned of course i have i know all them they're It's always been iconic. He's always been so, so funny. And it's always been his personality that's made him so attractive. And now he's even hotter. But now he's even physically hotter. And, like, I think that there was a time where he was way more reserved.
Starting point is 00:28:03 And now he's just big, bang, bong. Okay. Well, I think I've always perceived him as bing bing bong. It almost makes me mad that now people want to hop on this bandwagon. I'm like, no, I've been here this whole time. I know. All right. So I just wanted to let you know.
Starting point is 00:28:19 that, like, I feel like you could probably make your way in on that. I know that he is kind of seeing someone, but, like, I also don't know how serious it is. I mean, it's Joe Jonas. I love him, but it might, you know, it might not last that long. And I'm always here for a rebound if he's desperate. Okay. Just, like, really glad we can bond over this. Like, let's DM, like, each other, some Instagram reels.
Starting point is 00:28:46 If I were to have had a meeting with ABC, I would have been like, can you make this happen if there is any potential of, if they had, if they had asked like, oh, what would you want this to look like? Yeah. Would you want to see? I'd be like, the Jonas Brothers and they would have said like, oh, we have a relationship with them. They certainly do have a relationship with them. I know.
Starting point is 00:29:08 With the Hulu Disney Plus combo. Did you see the movie yet? Oh, yeah. The movie? Yeah. Hey, speaking of rebounds, Paradise. We didn't see you in Paradise. We would expect you to be in Paradise.
Starting point is 00:29:19 dice, but you weren't there. Why were you not there? That's a great question. Who would you want to have dated there? That's a thing. Like, who would I, like, can they get me, Joe Jonas? Like, I mean, Jonathan would have been your closest bet. I mean, you know what I mean.
Starting point is 00:29:35 I don't know that I do know what you mean. And I love Jonathan. But like, Jonathan, I adore you. Generally, I'm the closest you would get as far as, like, your type. Yeah, my type is Joe Jonas. Yes. Basically, I don't really have a type, but personality, I need, I need Bing, Big Bang, Bong, you know? Well, in that case, not Jonathan. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:30:04 No one can resist a rule of culture. So here's one for the dating files. Rule of culture number 72. Chemistry isn't just vibes, it's values. Starting point is 00:30:59 A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight. So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York since the son of Sam, available now. Starting point is 00:31:31 I'm the director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health. And I want to tell you about my new podcast called The Mailroom. And I'm Jordan, the show's producer. And like a lot of guys, I haven't been to the doctor in many years. I'll be asking the questions we probably should be asking, but aren't. Because guys usually don't go to the doctor unless a piece of their face is hanging off or they've broken a bone. Depends which bone. Well, that's true.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Every week, we're breaking down the unique world of men's health, from testosterone and fitness to diets and fertility and things that happen in the bedroom. You mean sleep? Yeah, something like that, Jordan. We'll talk science without the jargon and get you real answers to the stuff you actually wonder about. It's going to be fun, whether you're 27, 97, or somewhere in between. Men's Health is about more than six packs and supplements. It's about energy, confidence, and connection. We don't just want you to live longer.
Starting point is 00:32:23 We want you to live better. So check out the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of the On Purpose podcast. Recently, I had the honor of sitting down with the iconic Chris Jenna. You never quite know what or where life is going to lead you and where it's going to be the best lesson you ever learned. and not get distracted by the noise. This is a lot of noise. Even if one of your children has been through something really difficult
Starting point is 00:32:52 with their partner or an ex-partner, you still love them as part of the unit and the family. These are, in most cases, the fathers of my grandchildren. I love these men, and that love doesn't go away when we experience really challenging times with them. Compassion is key in my own. to really feeling what somebody might be going through, even though you don't agree with them.
Starting point is 00:33:19 If you once love them, then love is love. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. On the podcast Health Stuff, we are tackling all the health questions that keep you up at night. Yes, I'm Dr. Priyanka Wally, a double board certified physician. And I'm Hurricane Dabolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled, do I have scurvy at 3 a.m.
Starting point is 00:33:46 On health stuff, we're talking about health in a different way. It's not only about what we can do to improve our health, but also what our health says about us and the way we're living. Like our episode where we look at diabetes. In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic. How preventable is type 2? Extremely. Or our in-depth analysis of how incredible mangoes are.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Oh, it's hard to explain. Explain to the rest of the world that you, like, your mangoes are fine because mangoes are incredible, but like, you don't even know. You don't know. You don't know. It's going to be a fun ride. So tune in. Listen to Health Stuff on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Carolina, you weren't in paradise.
Starting point is 00:34:40 The show was, I don't even know if we can call it rough. for you. It reminded me a lot of like Corinne Olympios like storyline where you're not really a villain but you're like polarizing and people don't really know how to feel. But she at least got more love and she got more clout. Like I was like what did I get out of this? Well you went on you came on the show at a different time than her too. The show was more had a ton more viewers. She also had a very popular bachelor as her bachelor. And I think people really like I think that helps when it comes to, you know, the clout that comes to the contestants. Also, she went on a bunch of other shows, which we're going to get to after her time on
Starting point is 00:35:21 the show. By the way, before we move on, before I forget, can I just say? The reason why I messed, I screwed myself over was because, because I want to make sure this gets across the right way. I wasn't willing to lie to anyone or manipulate anyone for the clout. I'm just saying, when you look back, you're like, damn, I should just pretend it's his beefed fully into him so that I could just stay longer and then at least benefit from the brand. just so we're clear.
Starting point is 00:35:43 I wasn't willing to do that. I'm not. The transparency is so wonderful. No, no. Like, I, it's true. Like, you know that you could get opportunities, but you, I, that was my self-sabotage, was being so open about, like, I'm not willing to stay here if this guy isn't treating me right, just for the sake of TV.
Starting point is 00:36:04 So, okay, so sorry. Go ahead. I guess with all that being said, my question in the simplest form is, do you feel back to yourself, do you feel healthy again? And now looking back on this whole experience, are you still glad you did it? I don't regret doing it. And now, like, I would do it again.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I'm like, if I survived this, I don't know if this is toxic of me, but I was so sad and so like not even wanting to consider, like, reality shows or whatever. And now I'm like, what? Sign me up. Interesting. Yeah, I mean, I do think there's opportunities for you out there.
Starting point is 00:36:42 with some of these shows that Corinne has done if they still exist some of those like villain shows or some of those more like those shows out a little crazier, perfect match, house of villain.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Like those things are really popular and definitely I think they actually talking to a Corinne about it. I actually felt like she felt more herself in those at times. And sometimes it even went too far in a direction she didn't want it to
Starting point is 00:37:11 because it was so wild and she was actually the reserved one. So I do think those opportunities would be really good for you and if somebody is listening that cast for those shows please consider Carolina.
Starting point is 00:37:23 Please. Yeah, I would do it. I think I learned a lot. I don't regret it. I don't think that it could go any worse for me, truly. So bring it on. Did you reach out to any other villains
Starting point is 00:37:39 like my friend Sidney was the villain the season before. Did anybody reach out to you? Chenet reached out to me. Okay. Which was nice. Yeah, but no one, hmm, I don't.
Starting point is 00:37:54 And if someone did, and I'm forgetting them, I'm so sorry. No one that I can remember being a villain. Yeah, okay. I'm sorry I didn't because I didn't. I know, I'm so sorry. We did. I would not have expected you a lot here.
Starting point is 00:38:09 No, thank you so much. That was very sweet. you also weren't a villain though no you were just a crier so was that it's okay we crash out it's fine we did have Zachary reality on who mentioned that you guys
Starting point is 00:38:22 had a friendship but that friendship had waned for a bit and I felt like it was trying to get back on yeah we're good you guys are good you guys are good we love Zach like we think he's he's an incredible commentator
Starting point is 00:38:36 for these reality shows so you guys are good again yeah I think I want to wrap this up by asking you if you weren't the villain of your season, who secretly was. I mean, you kind of alluded to Juliana about being as nice as. I think Juliana, Zoe and Grant, but Grant didn't mean to be, but he's just like so Grant, you know?
Starting point is 00:39:02 Wait, how is Zoe? I think Zoe is a very judgmental person. and even then I think people try like I remember hearing about how she was treated on her date what where she did actually seal him and I was like not cool but I still would have defended her because it feels shitty to be attacked and I remember trying to be nice to her like I remember there was a day where she was concerned about like in Spain when she had extra time with grant um she came back and she was like just so you guys know like she was kind of freaking out a little bit.
Starting point is 00:39:39 She was like, even though it seems like I was gone for a long time, like it wasn't long. Like she was very concerned about how the group would perceive her time. And I was like, don't worry about it. Like, no one was talking about it. Everyone was just like tired. Like no one's, so I tried like, not that we were friends, but I tried being nice to her. And then she still came at me for the dumbest thing.
Starting point is 00:40:01 She called me out for taking a nap on the couch where it's like, why do you care so much if I took a nap on the couch? and why are you like coming at me and saying like the things that she was saying in Scotland where it's like purposely excluding me from a conversation and being super judgmental towards me and then even on social media still being like weird about me I tried telling her like I tried complimenting her and being like never thought we'd agree because everyone knows we don't agree on anything but like you go girl like trying to be like offer that I'm not going be fake and suddenly be like you know like i know we've never been friends but you go girl and she's
Starting point is 00:40:38 like yeah yeah weird like i'm just like why are you like mean like i just don't i'm just like okay whatever she went on another podcast saying that i was annoying for taking pictures it's like when i saw you taking pictures that's when i asked for pictures of myself like you were taking pictures first what do you mean like even i just don't think that like if you don't like somebody because of little quirks that they have you should go on a podcast and just blast them like that and the way like she would just come out me for little things it's like i didn't steal her time i didn't do anything to her so i think she was just like petty those are the people i could have seen them flipping it on her too i thought she was going to be the villain the whole
Starting point is 00:41:18 time but i don't know whatever you got that you got that honor clearly you had the honor of that title from your season so much abc i love you yeah next question for you and my final question is What is life, what do you hope life looks like, kind of in the next few years for you coming off of this show? You do, you know, have a following now. You will get a ton of press from this interview. I promise you that. What, if anybody listens that could support you help you or at least have you a part of their projects, what are you hoping comes in the next few years of your life? Oh, project wise. Oh, this is like a lot of pressure to answer. on the spot let me think um well i know one you want to go on these shows and he spent on show
Starting point is 00:42:09 you'd be very interested in doing it thank you i love hosting like i don't know if this was even shown on on the show but i used to be a tv reporter like i would love to yeah we were talking about that before you came on yeah um i would love that if anyone needs a host let me know i don't know literally anything like hit me up i'm so for an adventure i would say this carolina you will be perfect on some of these really fun spinoff shows like House of Villain and any of these other cool things that we love to watch people do and beyond that I could never be a part of because they're saying yes to things that I because he's far too sane because he has all of his marbles always. I think it's just be fun it's fun it's fun to watch and I think you'd be great at it
Starting point is 00:42:55 Thank you. Carolina, you're a pleasure to have on the show. And so are you guys. You guys are even more likable talking to you, like not in person, but, you know, virtually than I could have even imagined. Do you watch the show at all anymore? Because I would love to have you co-host if we ever need a substitute. Yeah, let me know.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Okay, cool. Because you'll be so fun and honest. Oh, my, yeah. Let me know. Okay, great. Yeah, I'll take a break. I'll just like, I will not show up. I will not be here. You two can go on and on and on about whatever you want to talk about.
Starting point is 00:43:31 I'm very distracting conversation where we relate everything back to Joe. Yeah. I literally start talking. I'm like, where was I going to this? And I'm just hoping I find it again. Well, that makes two of us. Ben's probably biggest faux pa about doing a podcast with me. You just kind of get used to it after you. Carolina, it's been great.
