This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeart Radio. Hey, everyone. Welcome to the almost famous podcast. It's Ashley and it's Ben. And we are here to episode two recap. To episode two recap. Two episode two recap.
Starting point is 00:02:58 That needs sense. So much sense. Please don't ask me what my home's like right now. I'm so scatterbrained. It's unreal. It took me like three hours to watch the hour and a half episode because I'm an idiot who was like, yeah, I'll watch it. Don't say that about yourself.
Starting point is 00:03:19 I'll watch it when I'm with the kids tomorrow. You know, I'll have five hours to watch the, one and a half hour episode and guess what it took like three hours to watch it when you're watching two kids because i decided not to watch it last night because i had to watch the menendez brother's show till like one a m i watch that too you have it's kind of boring to me what yeah i didn't think it was that great wait where are you at i don't know like episode five you're in episode five you're bored yeah you're going to be deeply disturbed by episode five disturbed already. I don't think I like it. Well, yeah. That's why I have to watch the golden
Starting point is 00:03:58 Bachelorette to get my mind right. I have a great video of Jessica watching this week's episode and she just cries a lot. She finds it so sweet. Oh, it is so sweet. These poor men and these stories are heartbreaking. It's, uh, this, this season so far has, um, I mean, I think episode one is always a hard episode. to make entertaining. I think it is kind of one of those filler episodes like we talk about really like...
Starting point is 00:04:31 Such a filler episode. But they did a tremendous job at bringing some character development into play, which we'll talk about. Some incredible group dates. I think the quote from my wife was they've had some really cute group dates on this episode and I think they did.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Yeah, I like the group dates because, you know, their personality dates. They're... So a great episode. Let's dive in. Let's start at the beginning. We get a little teaser at the beginning that Mark asks Joan in German to kiss him. This was unexpected, Ashley.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I felt like Mark was kind of going to be a slow roller here, kind of take his time. He would kind of emerge towards the middle of the season, but he's diving in, week one. What are you talking about? You thought he was going to be slow. You mean, he thought he was going to be slow to make moves? Yeah, like more quiet reserved. I understand that, but like they want to make him front and center because if they're not together they want him to be bachelor so they're getting people on the mark train super early
Starting point is 00:05:30 they're already on the train but they want them to be like with the captain in the front seat it's it's great that mark is getting this treatment and then matt james's mom got the treatment where like we never saw her i know isn't that weird yeah that's sad um yeah she got eliminated night one poor thing i was actually surprised by some of the eliminations in this episode because they were faces that we knew. Do you know what I mean? Like usually in episode two, you're still eliminating faces
Starting point is 00:06:00 that we don't really know. But these guys, we knew and they were sweet. But anyway, we'll get there eventually. First, we'll start with the group date. Well, actually,
Starting point is 00:06:08 with Mark the Marcus. Why did they have to have, I don't think they had to tease the Marcus? I think it just brought us into the episode. Okay. Because they like doing that now, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Okay. All right. Well, then we get into the episode. group date first group date has gary bob jonathan charles l mark jordan guy and keith and they are going to prom this was a cute group this was a cute date idea could have been awkward i think when it was announced i felt like oh this is going to be a really awkward date for all of them it's going to be like kind of forced fun but it wasn't the guys made the most of it and i think a lot of it has to do with the personalities of the people on date.
Starting point is 00:06:55 I think these guys dove in and they added their uniqueness to this prom. And then also we got some personal stories based on prom. Some people that stood out to me during this date, maybe unexpectedly was Charles L. That is a guy that just can absolutely. Yeah, he can really get you, can he? Oh, my goodness gracious, guys. Now I sound like Ben by saying goodness gracious. this guy is so freaking adorable
Starting point is 00:07:24 and like they're not going to end up together and I'm so sad about that like I'm sad that he's not going to get as far as this man's soul deserves to get all I want is this for this man to find an amazing second love of his life if that's what he really wants oh his wife was his first and only girlfriend
Starting point is 00:07:48 he was her first and only boyfriend and oh he's just a he's just a sweet sweet man it would be awesome if we thought there's a chance that Charles L could be the next Bachelor but as you're saying we kind of feel like Mark if he's not with Joan
Starting point is 00:08:04 has already kind of taken that role but like the Charles L's of the world are the people that we just watch and we're like you're just it's just fun to see you like you're just a pure spirit you're a good human and you're sweet
Starting point is 00:08:20 and this is such a thing that you're out of your comfort zone on but you've decided to do it and as a result I have so much just respect for the courage that you've shown I want Charles L to be celebrated he has such a sweetheart
Starting point is 00:08:34 sitting watching him sit on the bleachers by himself goodness but then he said it was like the best time he's had in 60 when he called his daughter and he said I forget her name but he goes this is your dad I was like, oh, he has to say, like, how sweet was that conversation?
Starting point is 00:08:54 It's just all of it was sweet with Charles L. Totally. The other standout during this episode is, of course, Jonathan, who gets the group date Rose. And he shares this story about he was, wow, he was the only person of color at his high school. And he was always like not super, not really popular, never felt like. Like he fit in.
Starting point is 00:09:21 He never had like a girl's attention. And like you look at him and you're like, how did you not have a girl's attention? We know that you were definitely a stud. But, you know, it was a different time, which and, you know. And we saw his high school picture. He's definitely blossomed. He was like a skinny little high schooler. But now he's just like he looks like he could be on the regular bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:09:42 He's like that good looking now. Yeah. Seriously. and his prom date initially said yes and then in a classic sitcom scenario stands him up pretty much
Starting point is 00:09:59 changes her mind and then he sat home during prom it's really it's like a rom-com story yeah yeah it was good that he got the rose I think there's a lot of guys there who gave it their best effort
Starting point is 00:10:15 who definitely could have gotten that that date rose but Jonathan deserved it and I do think I could see a future between the two of them do have good chemistry yeah I even think if we're going to like fast forward a little bit and we look at the previews for the rest of the season it feels like Jonathan's around a while based on how much he's kind of in those previews so makes sense on why he got that group date Rose. This date, though, overall, showed these guys' personalities in the best of ways. We love Goldie. He is absolutely awesome, huge personality, really sweet. The way... Gary? Yeah, but she calls him Goldie, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just wanted to make sure the...
Starting point is 00:11:05 Yeah, she calls him Goldie. The way he responded to the gift that she later gave him from, shows his side of gratefulness. I'm really enjoying, Ashley, the chemistry amongst the men. Me too. They're so fun, but they have to fix the sink and stuff. Yeah, but they're competitive. They all want time with Joan.
Starting point is 00:11:29 They all like Joan, but yet they're all respectful of each other in the sense of they let people be who they want to be. And they kind of celebrate that. It's really fun to see the dynamics at play. kind of in the house. I've loved just watching that side of this as well. A bunch of 60-year-old men hanging out inside of a Bachelor mansion,
Starting point is 00:11:50 which brings me to the next point when you're 60 years old, obviously you have health stuff, and we talk about that during this episode, but you also snore. There's a big segment where we see all the guys napping because nobody can get sleep because Greg is snoring throughout the night. I think this is awesome. When was the last time that these men shared a room with this many other men,
Starting point is 00:12:09 and now they're having to sleep beside each other? I think it's hilarious. Yeah, as the Navy captain said, it's been like 20 years. Yeah. It's so good. So funny. And I, yeah, I love the guy camaraderie. And then there was Pascal and he was needing his own closet because he, and he was trying to pay the guys $100 to do a load of laundry.
Starting point is 00:12:32 This guy's so bougie. It's like, is he just like, he seems like your token hired actor who's not a hired actor, but he's like that one from the season. Well, he admits it, right? He admits that he is, like, high maintenance. He says, I am high maintenance. I want to know, though, if Pascal is, doesn't do his own laundry because he's so wealthy that he doesn't need to. Yeah, I think so. Okay. Yeah. I want to know his backstory then. I want to know more about him. No, I think this guy, like, owns a really well-to-do salon. Good for him. Yeah. What a deal. There's, there's so many, like, fun backstories that we'll never get. it based on career pass and kind of what they do for a living in this house. One of the guys that stands out is obviously the one that gets the one-on-one. Chalk. Chalk goes to the happiest place on Earth. Immediately, we shouted Disneyland. No questions asked. And I'm so glad they went there. Hi, my name is Enya Jumanzoor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called

Your entire identity has been fabricated. Your beloved brother goes missing without a trace. Starting point is 00:15:54 And these are just a few of the profound and powerful stories I'll be mining on our 12th season of Family Secrets. With over 37 million downloads, we continue to be moved and inspired by our guests and their courageously told stories. I can't wait to share 10 powerful new episodes with you, stories of tangled up identities, concealed truths, and the way in which family secrets almost always need to be told.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I hope you'll join me and my extraordinary guests for this new season of Family Secrets. Listen to Family Secrets Season 12 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My name is Ed. Everyone say hello, Ed. from a very rural background myself my dad is a farmer
Starting point is 00:16:42 and my mom is a cousin so like it's not like What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke but that really was my reality nine years ago I just normally do straight stand-up but this is a bit different
Starting point is 00:16:58 on stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear 22nd of July 2015 23 year old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
Starting point is 00:17:21 A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It was a cute date, fun date. She just wanted him to prove that he was fun. The first half of the day was like a little bit boring to me.
Starting point is 00:17:49 I was like, all right, here they go. They're riding the rides. They're having a good time. It didn't really prove anything to me. But during the one-on-one, like, just like another horribly sad story. He got married. His marriage lasts for 12 years, the mother of his children. And then like that just dissipated.
Starting point is 00:18:07 And then he met Kathy, who he's with her for nine years, until she got an awful form of what I think is brain cancer. And she passed away five months after her diagnosis. And just so sad. She died in his arms. And they just bonded over, you know, losing the loves of their lives. And it happened happening so quickly. Chalk sounds like Peyton Manning when he talks That's what I originally thought about Chalk
Starting point is 00:18:40 That was in my notes to talk about today Oh he does he sounds just like Peyton Manning Exactly like it but it's funny Or like a Peyton's voice coming out of another face Is so different Because like Peyton's like goofy face goes along with his like Kind of goofy voice Yeah
Starting point is 00:19:01 And with Chuck it's just different chalk is is really i think somebody that i could see joan ending up with he seems uh caring and stable obviously he can relate on a lot of the stories that joan has they enjoy some similar hobbies like fishing that comes out during this date it feels like chalk um is one of those guys that you watch on screen right now and you're like he's either going to end up with joan or it's going to be one of those breakups that like we don't see coming because I do think their connection is strong like top four I think he's easily top four in fact I think the top four got revealed to me during this episode which I'll tell you about at the very end with the next one okay so the
Starting point is 00:19:46 second group date is the talent show date and this was fun talent show is way more fun when it's with the golden with the golden peeps I agree it's like so much better And there's never, it's like a lot less awkward and a lot less competitive. They're just joking around. What are some of the standout performances for you outside of Dan who, of course, did the ribbon dancing to kind of mask his tremors? Yeah, sure. I think it was amazing to see, I don't know who did it.
Starting point is 00:20:24 I think it's Charles Kay punched through the board and just sock Greg in the stomach. I mean, if you watch, when you watch on a replay, like, he really did absolutely pound Greg in the stomach. It was amazing to see that. Also, I just appreciated the guy's confidence. I would be one of the guys, and I had a talent show on, it was Caitlin's season, or maybe it was my bachelor season. Yeah, I think it was your bachelor season. And I don't have, like, a distinct talent to show off on a stage. I don't.
Starting point is 00:20:57 And that's okay. I was kind of. I anxious about it back then. I think we talked about it, but I just don't have one that could be done in front of people and impress them. And so, you know, I remember at the time when that was told to us who were doing a talent show, I was like, well, I just got to go out there and do my best and be confident. These guys, even though a lot of them didn't have a talent that stood out necessarily, they just showed confidence. They either sung, they did a poem, they did the yo-yo. I could have done a yo-yo. I thought everybody could do a yo-yo, but maybe a yo-yo is that impressive. I like the
Starting point is 00:21:28 juggler who couldn't even juggle he got through one like one round and then it fell and everybody's like yeah like that's what it's all about get up there on stage and do something so true but ben they're also able to get away with it because of their age because if a 20 if a 28 year old guy got up and he was trying to juggle and he didn't do it well or like chose that as his his talent I feel like people will be like just less, they see less humor in it. They'd be like, oh, he was being lazy, he didn't come up with something else.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Perhaps. Maybe. I think it's just how you present it. And these guys know how to present it. I mean, this is a big deal to them. It's their first group date. There's a live audience. They're obviously still nervous. No matter how old you get,
Starting point is 00:22:12 you still have nerves. And they just say, you know what? We're going to make the most of it. And I think that's absolutely incredible. Well, Dan says, I'm not nervous, actually, when he gets up. But he says, my hands are, and that's because I have a tremor.
Starting point is 00:22:25 And you could tell that Joan was nervous when she saw his handshaking. Like she felt so bad. She either thought that he had a disability that, you know, that makes your hands tremor or that he was that nervous. Either way, she was concerned for him. But he had a really good sense of humor about it. Sure. And that, you know, made him shine so much so that he gets the nighttime date.
Starting point is 00:22:51 And then we have another sad story. We do. It's kind of going to be, I think, a theme as the Golden franchise continues. Each season, we're going to have these moments of a lot of joy and laughter and brilliance, along with kind of this balancing act of real stories that affect real humans. That's probably why I enjoy it so much is because it feels like we're getting real stories from real humans who have shown some courage and getting out there and going on national television, even if it's just to go home in week one, they've done it.
Starting point is 00:23:25 And I think that's a big deal. Dan obviously has a story also. It's not unexpected, you know, from these men. They're obviously there for a reason. But Dan stands out because Dan has this way of communicating, Ashley. And it feels like he would sit in a kind of like an executive position at his work. Because he talks, he talks like with this. kind of quiet confidence. And he kind of is listening and curious, which oftentimes I think the
Starting point is 00:23:58 best executives do, right? They ask a lot of questions. They don't jump to assumptions. They don't tell you what you should be feeling or thinking. And when I sat there and listened to Joan and Dan talk, I was like, this guy knows how to talk. Like, he just knows how to communicate. He's like you. He's a you, a golden form. He has better hair than me. Much more so than Gary was, because I know that you got like compared to gary is because like he held the role of golden bachelorette similarly to the way that you held the role as bachelor yeah i mean i think dan dan is gonna dan is another one kind of like chalk where i put dan and chalk about side by side both like both of these guys are people that really stood out to us last week i agree because of their communication yeah they just
Starting point is 00:24:43 they they talk kind of like mark does with this quiet confidence and i think that's something to notice maybe that's just the thing that you develop as you get older. You've had enough interaction with people that you kind of understand how people operate and you kind of understand what people need in communication and so you start to learn how to do it well. But all three of those guys, also Goldie, those four guys to me really kind of communicate
Starting point is 00:25:11 with this quiet confidence that stands out amongst the rest. Yeah, I agree. Those are some good names. That's a good top four or five that you just mentioned. Hi, my name is Enya Emanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you.
Starting point is 00:25:41 But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness. illness, psycho babble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now.

Hola, it's Honey German, and my podcast, Grasasas Come Again, is back. This season, we're going even deeper into the world of music and entertainment with raw and honest conversations with some of your favorite Latin artists and celebrities. You didn't have to audition?
Starting point is 00:27:12 No, I didn't audition. I haven't auditioned in like over 25 years. Oh, wow. That's a real G-talk right there. Oh, yeah. We've got some of the biggest actors, musicians, content creators, and culture shifters sharing their real stories of failure and success.
Starting point is 00:27:27 You were destined to be a start. We talk all about what's viral and trending with a little bit of chisement, a lot of laughs, and those amazing Vibras you've come to expect. And of course, we'll explore deeper topics dealing with identity, struggles, and all the issues affecting our Latin community. You feel like you get a little whitewash because you have to do the code switching?
Starting point is 00:27:49 I won't say whitewash because at the end of the day, you know, I'm me. Yeah. But the whole pretending and coat, you know, it takes a toll on you. Listen to the new season of Grasas Has Come Again as part of My Cultura Podcast Network On the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. My name is Ed. Everyone say hello, Ed. Hello, Ed. I'm from a very rural background myself.
Starting point is 00:28:10 My dad is a farmer, and my mom is a cousin. So, like, it's not like... What do you get when a true... crime producer walks into a comedy club. I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family.
Starting point is 00:28:41 And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, sis, what if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance, bro, tell you how to manage your money again. Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards.
Starting point is 00:29:16 If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem a year from now. When you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates, I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets.
Starting point is 00:29:43 I 100% can see how in just a few months, you can have this much credit card debt and it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it. And in fact, it may get even worse.
Starting point is 00:29:57 For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. So Dan gets the rose. Leads us to the party, which this week is going to be a bar. barbecue at the mansion. A lot less dramatic than the barbecues that happened on the main show.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Again, you always feel like the barbecue or the pool party is always the most dramatic of the cocktail parties. And this is really not. Things that stand out, again, is Goldie. He's going to get his picture here. And then Mark's kiss, which, by the way, and I'm not doing this, not saying this because of me being a Mark Stan. But because her other kisses with the. other guys are like very casual sometimes like she'll just do it in front of the other men and it's just like a you know like closed mouth all that with her kiss with mark it was a lip lock that was like a
Starting point is 00:31:01 kiss that was like a romantic kiss you know it don't look at me like that i mean i think she's had some good kisses she did kiss a couple guys this episode i do think that's something to note uh i i have it really enjoyed seeing Joan carry the role as a golden bachelorette because I do think not only I mean Jessica and I said it last night like the lady's gorgeous but she also navigates this process so far very well and she is allowing the relationship to open up to a certain physical level which is you know to show you know romance through kissing I think all these kisses meant something I do think Marx would stand up. It's more romantic. Yeah, to you. Oh, okay, fine then. To you. I might disagree with you a little bit. Let's call Joe now. Call her up and ask her. I do, I might disagree with
Starting point is 00:31:59 you a little bit. I think this show is going to be lacking in drama, which is fine with me, which is actually something I prefer. And one of the things I think they tried to do was make this cookout dramatic with the like whole burger situation and how all these they have too many leaders in this group too many people who have grilled for their families for too many years and cooked for themselves for too many years they have too many people who are leaders in their own worlds and they come into this house and now they have to share this space and you have to see them start to navigate maybe having their like what they've implemented as what they want in life not happen And I think that's going to be a really fun thing.
Starting point is 00:32:43 It's not going to cause drama amongst the others. I think it's going to cause internal drama within themselves to go, I like it this way. I like to sleep in a room with a night machine. I like to sleep naked. I like the air to be 66 degrees. I like my burgers medium well. I don't want barbecue sauce on them. All these things that they've created to be the right and wrong way of doing life.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Now you're going to see them start to separate from that. And I think that's going to be fun to watch. Is there something that's like very. like a sociologist would comment on this that the women like women like women on the golden bachelor they're more communal you know when one has a baby it's like the village you know back in the tribal days whereas like men could go out and hunter gather more by themselves and like yeah so when women are put together in that group at this age especially it just seems very comfortable whereas men are like we've we've done this solo for quite some time
Starting point is 00:33:41 We've been the heads of the house. I also wonder, I wonder, I don't know. I wonder if, you know, the women are so used to nurturing and caring for that, you know, they also like to be nurtured and cared for. And so this is a moment where, you know, like last season, Susan can cook for everybody and everybody can just sit and laugh and like drink wine and enjoy it. And Susan's carrying the role and everybody's happy to have her carry that role because they want to be like, you know, they've cared for everybody else their whole life.
Starting point is 00:34:08 But it's nice to be cared for yourself where these. men kind of have this like, no, I know how to do it my way kind of like mentality and they've done it their way when they want to do it their way. And now they're getting that ripped away from them, especially when it comes around a grill. I think a grill is a really good place for men to start to have disagreements because typically the men have very strong opinions on how to grill the right way or the wrong way. That's so funny. Yeah, you might be right. Totally. Any other standout moments from the barbecue? It's like Jack.
Starting point is 00:34:45 I'm sad. Jack's gone. He's obviously leaving us. I thought he was a good energy and a really positive spirit in the house. I thought he had a lot of fun at the house. I thought he was soaking in every moment at the house. There's no other big standout moments of the barbecue for me. Other than the fact that there is obviously a uniform this season.
Starting point is 00:35:04 The uniform is khakis with a tucked in golf shirt and brand new tennis shoes of whatever kind. that is showing up at every scene of every episode. I think that's great. That is so funny. The only thing I want to bring up to you, Ashley, that I want to get your thoughts on, I don't even know his name, but The Bachelor had said that they're going to cut
Starting point is 00:35:24 Gil. Gil out of the series. It was actually in the episode. A lot more than some. Yeah. I'm like, are we getting, is our advanced copy not edited or something? Because I thought that he had a role, you know?
Starting point is 00:35:40 are we getting bamboozled here is my question now here's what could have happened in my mind yeah is this show was already edited and put to press before um this came out like last week they didn't have so like maybe in future episodes we'll see that but i was surprised to see him have this one-on-one moment with jones shown uh but i do i would imagine that this episode was already out there before this all came to light. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:13 So you guys, if you aren't aware, Gil was actually served a restraining order between the time of him getting his background check during casting weekend
Starting point is 00:36:22 to the start of the show actually filming. He was really communicating a ton with this woman and it was getting obsessive. and yeah so she got this on him and then he went on the show and we know that they wanted to cut down
Starting point is 00:36:45 some of his his episodes they said that he doesn't really play a huge role he did get this conversation where he told joan about how his wife passed away in 2019 and that was obviously it was so sad and i was like feeling for the guy and then they showed his name underneath after the conversation And I was like, that's Gil? And then you just think, how was this man, like, with his wife? And then a couple years later, he's stalking another woman. Is this like a behavior that is just out of grief? Or am I giving him too much credit?
Starting point is 00:37:23 Or is just something to think about? I was just shocked to see him. I didn't think we'd see him at all. But yeah, we did. He was there more than others. Yeah. That was a moment that stood out to me. Now we'll talk about the guys going,
Starting point is 00:37:34 home before we talk about who we think will be in the final four after our two weeks of knowing these guys. Michael Jack, Christopher, and Bob are sent home. I think there are some surprises here, maybe even with all of them. We didn't get to see a lot of Bob. I liked Bob. I thought Bob was like a really sweet man, but we didn't get to see a lot of him. But we did get to know Michael Jack and Christopher quite a bit. Maybe that's just the element of the show is we'll get to know the character's a little better than we do on the other, you know, during the Bachelor and Bachelorette. I would like to call him surprises,
Starting point is 00:38:12 but I don't know who else she would have sent home. There was a couple in there. I don't feel that she has a lot of chemistry with Guy. He was towards the end of the Rose ceremony. See, I think she has a lot of chemistry with Guy. You do? Oh, yeah. I'm just so off here.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Okay, well, I thought that Christopher leaving was a shock out of this bunch. I thought Bob leaving was also a little shocked just because, like, we knew their faces and they had really sweet demeanors. Michael, I was like, whatever on. Jack, I think we're sad just as viewers to lose Jack, but yeah, they didn't have anything. My sister was like, Jack is the kind of guy that I wish they had a golden paradise for. Oh, gosh. How much would he love the golden paradise? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:00 He would absolutely thrive. Yeah. he was created for it so was you know uh kathy from from her season there's a couple think about those two together dating goodness gracious that would be yeah we might actually need a golden paradise except for it would need to be like not in a tropical location it would need to be in the mountains or something it would need to have winter winter games vibes yeah or like Florida where they all live already Florida would be hilarious too yeah like just like a nice little condos. They have like a compound, yeah, of condos. I would love to see Jack
Starting point is 00:39:38 and Kathy. I'm going to ship that. Jack and Kathy together. Can you imagine the conversations? It would be unreal. Well, first off, they would be really just talking out loud to themselves, but be sitting next to each other. Hana, Hannah, our producer, goes, you don't want to see grannies and bikinis. I would be down for that. Who said so? Don't put words in my mouth. You want to see grandmas in bikinis, Ben? I don't know if it's something I want, but I'm down to watch it. I'm down to watch it too, but I'm sure that they would love to be in sweaters. And it would be cool to have like a whole different vibe.
Starting point is 00:40:14 And we can bring back the one piece. Like, it's fine. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it has to be for anybody that I know over 70, 65, 70, for them to be a bathing suit, it has to be 90 degrees. So as long as we keep it 75, they're still wearing long sleeves. do you know that my mom who you know like my mom is like the really hottest 66 year old woman you can can you believe my mom 66 it's like insane I treat her like she's also 46 you know I'm with like why are you tired you know we're after a day with the kids like you're 46 and it's like oh crap you're 66
Starting point is 00:40:49 my mom hasn't worn a bathing suit in like 10 to 15 years she's so ridiculous is that a personal choice yes oh is that we have a pool in the backyard she like hasn't gone into it for 20 years oh that's unfortunate very conservative lady all right so who's your top four actually i want to hear it i don't think we have much of a different top four so this might be a little bit boring um it's mark it's jonathan shock and and and dan so guys that were very much highlighted during this this episode I'm going to go Mark, Chalk, Guy, and Dan. I am not, I do not know what I'm missing from the guy thing, but I'm obviously missing it. I think you're missing it.
Starting point is 00:41:38 What if he wasn't a doctor? Would you put him in there? I don't even, I didn't even know he was a doctor until this episode. Yeah, I think they just have something. Oh, okay. Just wait. Just wait. This has been another amazing episode. Don't need to say a lot about Joan.
Starting point is 00:41:52 She's thriving in this role. She was made for this role. It feels like Joan, I will say that Joan has blossomed. I don't know if this will be a critique, if this will be taking the wrong way. I know Joan listens to this. Joan is more attractive now than she was in high school. Oh, 100,000 percent. And I was thinking about that last episode when they were showing old pictures of her and her husband together.
Starting point is 00:42:17 I'm like, why is this woman getting hotter with age? Like way hotter. What's happening? What's happening here? I will say that. But Joan's thriving. She does navigate the conversations well. She brings out the best in these guys.
Starting point is 00:42:31 The stories are being told. The questions are being asked. The romance is there and exists. And I think all of these guys are just absolutely smitten with her. Their heads turn every time she walks around. They get giddy every time she walks into a room. I absolutely think Joan is the perfect choice for the Golden Bachelor. He really was.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Yeah. You could not get. better at the role. No, she's great for it. Unless it would be like an actual Hollywood actress, you know what I mean? They found her in like Chevy Chase, Maryland, and she's just perfection. Yeah, good people come from Maryland.
