This is Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous in depth.
Hello, Almost Famous listeners.
Welcome back to part two of our interview with Claire Crawley.
We wanted to have an episode dedicated just to talking about her future daughter.
Make sure if you haven't already, listen to part one.
It'll give you a lot of context for what has led.
Claire and Ryan to this point in their lives.
Ryan is now going to be a girl dad of three, right?
Or right?
He has two girls right now?
Yep, he does.
He's going to be a girl dad of three.
I don't know Ryan well.
I know my buddy's well.
I know my buddies well who have two girls.
There was a lot of hope for a boy.
Was he hoping for a boy here?
Is he really just happy to be a girl dad of three?
Is he like walk us through what Ryan looks like as a
girl dad. Oh, okay. So I'll give you a little insight on the IVF process. And as we went through
IVF, in IVF, and when you're making embryos, you get the option to know because you create
embryos, the sex of the babies. Yeah. And knowing that that was going to be an opportunity or an
option, I asked Ryan, when we were talking about it one night, I was like, would you like a boy? Because
you'd have never had a boy or would you like a girl if we get the i really want
so he was like well what do you want and i said i just want a baby i'm happy with a baby
and he said that's very sweet but claire you know you wanted to be a girl mom well now you know what
you said it literally you said it best ashley that like makes me cry because i'm like i was meant
to be a girl mom you were meant to be a girl mom but ryan said the same thing he was like
if we can choose, I love my girls.
I love being a girl dad.
I love every single thing that comes along with being a girl dad.
And I know how to do it.
I would love another girl.
We ultimately came to the decision.
Obviously, we don't want to choose.
We just want help.
So we did not choose the sex of our baby.
Okay.
I was going to ask you,
I wasn't sure if that was too personal.
When you cut that cake, it's like,
it's going to be pink, duh.
she definitely gave you a girl mom and in my head i was like and if they went through the whole process
like she got to pick so but you didn't pick wow this is how little i know i didn't know it would
be personal like i would have just asked it here as a follow-up so i'm glad you you saved me from
embarrassing myself claire thank you no i'm not one step further and tell you guys so the
funny thing this is this is one of my favorite parts of this story and i'll tell you to a two-part
you guys but basically as you do get to choose the sex i was we were literally
on the phone with
Dr. Amy and she's our
embryo. I don't know what you
what do you call it? Is she the egg whisper?
Egg whisper. Yeah. Okay.
My IVF doctor. Yeah. She's amazing.
She's actually 10 minutes from our house. It's amazing.
So we're on the phone and it was time for the embryos.
We were seeing which what grew and
you know how it all was playing out.
And she said, okay, this is your last option because we'd already told her.
We don't want to find out the sex of the baby. You choose the healthiest
embryo if one grew and became healthy and she said okay do you want to know the sex of the baby or do you
want to choose the sex of the baby and we said we still want to stick by it i mean obviously i was dying
to know by it please just it as long as long as there's it's a healthy baby we're happy and she said
okay because i will let you know you actually do not get to choose the sex of the baby they're all the same
it was going to be a girl the whole time but you still didn't know until you cut the cake that was a true gender reveal
we knew we knew we knew before we cut the cake that was just okay because I was just your Instagram
yeah I love to share with you guys because I knew I didn't go on social for a minute because I was like
if I even say anything about the baby I'm going to say she she she yeah I'm like I don't want to give it away
before we can share with everybody but it's it's just cool because
Because literally for 10 years, probably more than that, I've shared with my friends and family,
I've had so many dreams of my baby, going to the hospital to pick up my baby girl.
And it's crazy how life is played out because that is what is going to happen.
I'm not carrying her in my dreams.
I'm not pregnant in my dreams.
I was always going to get her up at the hospital.
Yeah.
And I was always a little girl.
And I just like, it just makes me so happy.
Oh, my goodness.
Claire, that's really wildly incredible.
Is that you had dreams that, like,
you've never had dreams that you're pregnant,
but you've had dreams of picking up your little girl.
Yeah, and it was always different dreams of, like,
she's here, and I would always be like,
oh, God, I don't have her carcy yet.
I don't know, how am I going to bring her home?
And we don't have her carcy yet.
Or what do we name her?
Like, it was always dreams, different dreams all the time,
but it was always going to pick her up at the hospital.
and she's here and I'm not ready for it
or she's here and I'm finally ready
or you know just a variety of different dreams
but it was always a little girl
that we were going to pick up and like I said
I never have had dreams of being pregnant
ever

The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone,

Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men
think that they could land the plane

It's just, I can do it my eyes close.

I'm just like text your ex.
My theory is that if you need to figure out that the stove is hot, go and touch it.
Go and figure it out for yourself.
Okay.

I know that I've talked to, you know, you a little bit before we got on the mic, and you told me that the,
the whole process will be documented and we will be able to know it all at a certain point.
So there's certain details that we can't go into during this interview.
But I do want to ask you one thing that I think you might be able to respond to because you alluded to it earlier.
You said that you were going through the IVF process.
Was that you just harvesting the eggs or was that you trying to get pregnant yourself?
So with me, it's a little different.
And I know everybody's story is very, very different and no two stories are the same.
For me, it was, I'll tell you this, I started the egg process prior to even knowing Ryan.
I am the person that I know you guys know this.
I'm very, very proactive with my health.
And I had started back prior to Ryan, I will say, if you can do the math and the timeline on this,
it was late 2020, early 2021, that I had started the process of going and testing my eggs,
seeing if I have, you know, follicles and seeing what I'm working with because there are so many
things that factor into it.
My age, my health, after my breast, so when I started going into Dr. Amy, my breast implants
were still in and I was deeply, deeply suffering with so much inflammation in my body.
my body was fighting off so many infections because of the implants.
So going into Dr. Amy, it was not looking good.
And that's why she was like, you need to stay coming to me.
If whatever this looks like, however this plays out, if you want to be a mother,
I will help you become a mother.
And I trusted her ever since then.
And so I knew going into my relationship with Ryan what the circumstances were.
and I had done everything to prepare up until that even even when Ryan and I were together
I didn't know in the very beginning if he wanted another baby wanted a baby to his own
prior to Ryan I I had in after my last relationship actually in my last relationship I was going
through all my appointments with Dr. Amy alone if that shows you what kind of relationship I was
in I was going through the testing all the blood work everything alone even though I was in a
I was going through it alone.
Um, so then when that relationship ended, I'd still was still going through that,
the, all the, and the, all the blood work, everything.
I was going through all that.
And to me, I had gone into the relationship with Ryan knowing what my circumstances were
and knowing what the odds were with what I was working with.
So I remember on one of my first dates with Ryan, I was like,
even if we're just friends, we were at a baseball game.
We were at a baseball game and I was like, even if we end up just as friends and I adopt a baby or, you know, I have my own baby or would you, you know, want to hang out with me even if I had my own baby?
Because I promised myself after my last relationship, I was like, I will never let any man determine my life goals or like how I'm not going to put my life on hold for any man anymore.
Whatever that looked like.
So long winded, but.
no love it all thank you for sharing all that yeah it's just it's it's been a lot and I've been
somebody who is proactive with my health and so yeah there was a lot of things that were working
against me but I don't really like the term infertile or infertility like dr. Amy says if you
want to be a mother it might look different but you can become a mother in many different
now Sarah Heron is also working with The Egg Whisperer and she obviously had a tragic loss
about six months ago what's your relationship with Sarah like because I know you guys are
friendly but do you have any sort of connection through your doctor um I love Sarah I absolutely
love Sarah I don't think she's she's in a different place than I am right now and I think it's
I love her, and I support her deeply and knowing what she's gone through and knowing what,
not even just her, but so many, so many women go through to try to be a mom.
It's not easy and it's not something unless you go through it, you completely understand.
Just like I don't understand her experience with loss, but it doesn't mean my heart isn't deeply with her.
and I know the process of wanting a baby and hoping for a baby and not having the odds in your favor.
I know that feeling.
I have had that.
So it's not an easy thing to go through and I just, I support her always.
So I've just been rooting for her to be a mom.
And I like told my mom as soon as you posted that Instagram, I call her, I'm like, Mom, Claire's having a baby.
It's just like, yay!
So like, I don't know.
It's just like something like if everybody that I know,
that I really want to be a mother one day.
It was Claire's at the top of the list.
Why do you think you're going to be a great mom?
Because I just,
it's everything I've ever wanted.
I know everybody has always made fun of me
for being like, babies!
For so long, I just,
I love the innocence
of children. I love how I just, I've always loved children. When I was younger, I was a nanny
and a babysitter. And I think I've been babysitting since I was 12 and like who lets a 12 year old
babysit. But I was, I've just always loved being grown children. I have 11 nieces and nephews.
And for me, the childhood innocence is just so beautiful. And I was blessed with two amazing
parents that just i don't know i i i think having amazing parents and being blessed with that
and just i want that opportunity i've always wanted that opportunity to be able to instill my
strengths and my beliefs and share with them that and raise them i don't know everything that i've
been raised with and as far as love i think it's something beautiful and
I don't know. I've just always wanted it and have not, like, I couldn't.
It's weird to say this. Like, I could, could never wait to be a mom.
Like, I was so excited. I always wanted it.
But I knew it would happen when the time was right. And it was never right until now.
Well, this is going to be one very lucky baby to have you two as parents.
Now, you come from a very, a family of a lot of girls.
Yeah.
You have a girl named picked out?
I think so.
I think so.
I will never tell anybody what it is.
But I do.
We do have, I, there's one that we absolutely love.
And one of Ryan, it's not a common name.
And one of Ryan's daughters actually,
we were letting them throw out names of like what they love.
And they're so excited to be big sisters.
And so they're always talking about names and what about this and what about that?
And it was funny because they each have very different personalities.
His daughters have very different personalities.
And they kind of like, I want this name.
No, I want this name.
And we're just always like, yes, sounds great.
You know, those are really great names.
They have really great ideas.
But one of them said one name.
And the other was like, I love that name.
And it was the name that Ryan and I have always loved.
No.
When they said that, Ryan and I looked at each other and I'm like, that's it.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's so special.
All right.
Well, Claire, this has just been so.
nice to hear from you. And you're just always so vulnerable and emotional. And it makes for
just a great communication. Hey, Claire, you're a good communicator. Yes, she sure is. You should never
have a doubt about that. You might have doubted in your life. But we think here at the
Almost Famous Podcast, you're a good communicator. And we appreciate you for doing that. Thanks for
coming on. Thank you guys for having me. I feel like I'm a third host at this point. I've been on so
much, but I just love hanging out with you guys and chatting with you guys. You're definitely

So, Ashley, big things happen this week to me.
Okay.
I am at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's baby shower, okay?
And I get a FaceTime from Bennett, the executive producer of The Bachelor.
You know what I'm thinking?
We love Bennett.
Yeah.
I'm thinking, goodness gracious.
It's the time.
It's the time.
It's the time.
I freak out.
I leave the room.
I sit down to bed.
Take a deep breath.
Answer the FaceTime.
Guess whose face it is?
Well, it's Bennett.
No.
It's Gary, the Golden Bachelor.
And I'm thinking.
And he's going to personally ask you.
I'm thinking to us.
Holy cow.
This is the best.
And so I'm like,
hello, Gary.
And he goes,
hey,
I know you.
Just like any sweet old man says and does.
And I said,
I know you too,
Gary.
And I said,
your face is everywhere right now.
He goes,
this is our exact conversation.
He goes,
you know what,
Ben?
Gosh,
dang it.
He goes,
I was in Warsaw,
Indiana last week.
And I said,
really, Gary.
No way.
I'm all places.
places in the whole country.
Yeah, it's like, were you really, Gary?
I was like, what are you doing in Warsaw?
He said, I was at Stonehenge Country Club, which is my course that I grew up on.
It was I was playing golf.
And he goes, you know what happened?
I said, I don't, Gary.
He said, someone recognized me.
And I said, yeah?
And he goes, I don't know how they recognize me.
And I said, well, Gary, you are the golden bachelor that is commercial has aired on national television.
And you've been on, you know, Good Morning America.
You might want to start getting used to this. This could be your new normal for a while.
And he goes, I and I said, but you're going to do great. He goes, yeah. He goes, I'm the most
popular person on my lake now. He goes, people are pulling around, pointing out my house,
stopping by to say hi on the pontoons. He goes, I feel, I feel like a celebrity. I said,
well, he kind of are. So you should, you know, I mean. Sounds like a grandpa. Oh, like the sweetest,
the best and he's so he's so excited so at this point i'm going can we get to the point gary
can you can you can you ask me yeah can you can you just ask me it would be nice if you just like
you know ask me out asked me to come hang out and i said how the guy's treating you out there
and he said this and this is when jesska walks into the room and jesska has an infatuation
with grandpa she like loves her grandparents so much and um just really loves um
talking to grandpas especially because she had such a good,
like they had such a good influence in her life.
And so she walks in,
here's Gary say this.
He goes,
well,
Ben,
they're feeding and watering me really well.
Like,
and he's,
as he's sitting there eating,
like he's eating like a plate of dinner and has like a cocktail
next to him.
And I'm thinking this dude is about to live his best life.
He has no clue what's about ahead of him.
He's going to have a blast.
It's going to be watched.
Yeah,
he hadn't started shooting yet,
right?
Has not started shooting yet at this point.
Okay.
Yeah. He's just, he's like, wow, I am getting the royal treatment right now.
These people are being so nice to me. My little every ask is being tended to.
Yeah. And then he says, okay, nice to meet you, Ben, and that's into the conversation.
Too funny. And then you talk to Bennett and nothing? No, we just hung up.
It's so weird. I don't know.
Your whole journey with the Golden Bachelor has been something. Yeah. I did say hi.
have been on the phone. He did kind of like move the phone at one point and said hi. And he said
he said he was excited to see how I could be a part of the show. But it never went. It hasn't gone
any farther than that. That was about two weeks ago. So I'm still not holding my breath.
Anyways, the point of this story, Ashley, is I am excited to see Gary's journey. I think he is a very
sweet person. I think it is going to be more than ever an incredible experience to watch on television.
I think Gary is in for the time of his life, but also one of, I will say this, Gary is not
ready for what? No, he's not. He seems very naive. Yeah, he's not ready. If he can be recognized in a
town of 4,500 people at the one golf course in town that he knew I've been a member at my whole life
and that he was shocked by that, like, there was a poster of me in that clubhouse. Like,
if he's shocked, that somebody there knew of him, that poor man, he's going to have a wild experience.
but I can't wait for him.
I think he's going to be great show.
I think he's going to do great.
But that was my big story.
I did get to talk to Gary and that's where it ended.
Have you just found out how he got plucked from obscurity?
No, I haven't yet, actually.
We've got to figure out who found him.
I don't know if that's my story to tell anymore.
All right.
Well, another nudes.
Yeah, we have a big announcement here with Nick Vile.
How about you break it down?
All right.
Let's do it.
So Nick and Natalie are pregnant.
This has been a dream.
It is a dream for Nick.
I have, like Claire, I've been saying that Nick needs to be a dad.
He's going to be the best dad.
Oh, my gosh.
I remember even like two years ago, him saying something along the lines of like,
whether we're married first or we have a baby.
first. I'm cool either way. You know, babies have been on his mind even before the wedding.
So I was not shocked when they texted us a few weeks ago saying that the baby is on the way.
I'm very happy for them. The baby's going to get here. Well, actually, I'm not going to reveal
anything, to be honest. I know a few things that is, that they're not putting out there yet.
They posted just a joint picture to Instagram. Beautiful photos.
one of the two of them, Natalie's bum showing, one sonogram, and then one of just their hands on her belly, and it's just beautiful. And the caption reads, our biggest dream come true. I will let Nick and Natalie do the announcing of all the details themselves. I'm sure it'll be out on Nick's podcast any moment now, honestly. But they are going to be great parents. Lucky, lucky baby.
coming our ways for Claire and for Nick.
This has been another episode of The Almost Famous Podcast.
Thank you to Claire for coming on.
Huge news. Congratulations to Nick Vile and Natalie on their recent announcement.
And also, we wish Gary's still the best.
He's a good dude.
Anyways, until next time, I've been Ben.
