This is an I-Heart podcast.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, luckily, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend's been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That seems inappropriate.
Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast and the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Let's start with a quick puzzle.
The answer is Ken Jennings' appearance on The Puzzler with A.J. Jacobs.
The question is, what is the most entertaining listening experience in podcast land?
Jeopardy Truthers believe in...
I guess they would be Kenspiracy theorists.
That's right.
To give you the answers and you still blitzers.

Hello.
Hello, Trista Sutter.
I'm like, maybe we should take like every other or like one of us intros.
because I feel like we're both always like,
okay, who's going to say it?
Almost famous to OGs.
We're back with our finale recap of special forces.
The world's toughest test.
Yeah, so good.
I was blown away by that episode.
Blown away.
Right.
I mean, honestly, like it was so incredibly intense.
I was.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
I mean, first of all,
right?
Spoiler alert.
We're going to talk about.
about the finale so get over it uh if you know it's all over the place now at this point but um
the final five right we had cam golden Kayla alana and brodie left yep at the start yeah and
and very quickly um it just got ratcheted up man i mean it was insane how intense that whole
interrogation process was and wow what i mean basically waterboarding you know um it was really
banana stripped them down had them freezing in their business just going after it challenging everything
that they think about themselves and what really are their motivators and with alana really playing
into the fact that they knew she missed her family so they were just oh hitting that angle hard then that
woman, like, what kind of mother are you? It's like, I know. So in our group chat, Kayla wrote
Alana and said, I, she's like, I don't know how you did it, Alana. I would have snapped
when that woman said that to her. It would have been the same way. Like, oh my God, you think I'm
like a selfish mother, but what? I'm really like, I've always believed in the, the, the
saying or the phrase that um you put your oxygen mask on first you know you got to take care of
yourself before you can take care of other people and this was an opportunity for all of us to grow
and obviously i think that she got a lot out of it um but just to hear that because that's all of our
as a mother that is your your worst fear that you're being selfish that you're like a bad mom you know
And for her to pull her out on that.
Oh, my God.
I was like watching it as I was going.
So I had a late night last night.
I decided to watch it this morning as I was going through the airport.
And I had my, my, my earbuds in.
And I must have been like reacting because I'm walking past people.
And they're like looking at me.
And I'm like, oh, oh, my God.
I can't believe she said that.
It was like, I must have just been a disaster.
They must have been like, why is that dude yelling by himself?
But I was like.
I couldn't believe they went there with Alana because she seems like so sweet.
And but like, you know, it was one of those things.
They probably, they identified that and they just start picking at it, picking at it, picking at it.
Baby crying in her earphones and oh my gosh.
I would have lost my mind.
I always said if I made it to the last day, that would have been.
I don't know if I could have done it.
And she lasted for, I think they said, five hours, five freaking hours of listening to a baby.
crying and others. I think they have other stuff in there, too. But I cannot, especially after they
literally just showed her a video and of her babies, like, being like, we miss you, mommy, you know.
Oh, I just pulled on my heartstrings. When we had Golden Tate on the other day, and he mentioned
that that was, you know, they wait until that last day to show you the videos from your family.
And it's like, oh my gosh, man. And then Cam, I mean, that guy was just,
right in his business. And I was surprised, honestly, I was surprised at how composed Cam was
through that whole thing, you know, because there were some moments where that guy was really
pushing his buttons and trying so hard to get him to snap. You know, so, so, okay, so let's talk
about this. So we got, so Alana goes first, then Cam, no, no, Cam stays. What are you
talking about? Well, I'm trying to think about how, how it was like when people left, like from
the interrogation. Alana was the first one to leave from the interrogation.
Oh, yeah. But we should probably back up because this is like the second day of, you know, this. So let's go from the beginning. Let's talk about the fact that they started out and they actually, I think they did the like fighting the like here, whatever that red suited guy is.
Oh my gosh. That was unbelievable. Yeah. I mean. The brutality of it was like.
Right. Like they really had to be.
in the zone to fight and then to pull yourself out of like being such an aggressor and having
to tap into that like that angry part of yourself where you really have to fight for your life
and then just switch it off. It's crazy. I mean, when else in the world do you ever have that
kind of like training? You know? Never, ever, ever. Would you ever like, you know, go through that.
and get to the point where you're being, like, yelled at to fight harder and then yelled at to
stop just as quickly, you know?
Yeah. And you just have to stop.
Crazy. Like, literally stop.
You're done. Yeah, I know. I, I am really freaking proud of the fact that there's these two
women freaking rock stars still on the show. Like, when I was there, I, you know, I could have guessed
that Brody and Cam and Golden
and Kerry, unfortunately, he got injured,
were going to be at the end, you know, for sure.
And then it was like, well, yeah, you can guess
that more people or hope that more people are going to make it.
And I really wanted to make it,
but clearly I would have been done.
I mean, I could not have done what this last episode was.
But I mean, the guys, yes, you know,
you think they are so physically fit that they're going to make it to the end regardless of what
the psychological stuff is. And so the fighting thing, I have to say it was kind of like not a letdown,
but I was so ready to see the interrogation part of it, like day 10. And I thought, oh,
they're making them fight again. Like it really was intense and I think it's really good training. But
from a viewer's perspective, I was kind of like, oh, well, they're just going to, they're going to
fight again, you know?
Let's get, you know, for them, I'm sure it was not easy because everything on the show is way
harder in reality than we're sitting on the couch, you know, watching.
Well, yeah, I mean, and, you know, you got to imagine the physical, because I mean, that was even
more physical exertion than the first fighting round that they did.
that one almost seemed like that one was really quick
and it's like now they're sleep deprived
they're exhausted
they've been mentally just put through the ringer
and now they're being told like you know
keep fighting harder and then all of a sudden stop
it's like you know
the games that would play in your head
and then and then yeah like I was so
the interrogation part was sticking with me so much
that I was like I couldn't even think about this part of the show
until you brought it back up but yeah
I mean it was an intense moment
moment. And now you've got to imagine after that, they are just spent. Like, there's nothing left
in the tank, you know? Right. Totally. And then emotionally spent because they show all of them
the videos that their family has sent them from home, which, but I also felt like, wait, why does
Cam only have his like production company, um, associate saying, you know, you're crushing
this. Like, I kind of felt bad for him. I was like, oh, I wish that he could have gotten that,
you know, love from his kids or his baby mama.
Yeah, yeah. I just, I wonder why they did that. And I wonder if it, like, devil's advocate,
maybe the family just, they weren't at a place where they could videotape, or maybe he just
doesn't like his kids to be public.
In the public slide, yeah, in the spotlight.
Yeah, maybe he just doesn't want that for them and totally respect that.
But I kind of wish that he had gotten, you know, some kind of video from a family member.
I wonder if that gave him a little bit of an advantage to a certain degree, you know, because he wasn't,
like, he was able to kind of stay in his zone.
He didn't really, I mean, you know, no offense to, to,
any production people, but at the end of the day, that's not going to hit me. That conversation's
not going to hit me as raw and as deep as my kid crying because I'm not home and being like,
what's going on? You know, I'd be just melt. Totally. So, yeah, I wonder if that gave him a little
bit of a mental edge. I don't know. You know, I wonder. We'll have to ask him or you'll have to ask
them. If we don't get to interview him, you'll have to ask him. Yeah, hopefully we get to.
I reached out, but I haven't heard back yet.
So, yes, and then, oh gosh, and then I think it was like they woke up, or actually they didn't even wake up.
It was like the evening, I think, when the bomb started going off in camp and they, like, I felt bad for Golden because he's taking stuff out of his pack and kind of repacking it.
And he literally says, just watch them.
They're going to say, like, get out here, you know, right as I'm trying to finish this up.
And I feel like that was such a stressful thing when you're there.
Like, you think to yourself, should I work on my pack right now?
Like, should I repack stuff?
Or do we think that they're going to call us to do another task or whatever?
So it really was stressful when you like start to mess with that stuff.
Yes, I felt so bad for him, just timing wise.
Well, and, okay, let's think about this.
I bet they didn't go to sleep because, first of all, they didn't show them, like, waking up.
But if we remember when Q was on our show, he had said that the last night was like, you go, you know, no sleep.
Like, it's like, you know, four or eight hours, something like that.
And so I bet you they were kind of replicating that.
And so imagine getting in that physical altercation in the start of the day.
Then you're still running.
You're still doing all the other stuff.
then you're talking to your family members, you're down, you're sad, you know, then you're getting
rolled into a bombing sequence, then you're captured, you know, well, then you're given.
No, then you're running.
Like, then you're trying to find, yeah.
Then you're running, right of pack.
Trying to stay away from the hounds and the helicopters or whatever else was out there.
Like just the stress of being hunted, literally they were being hunted.
Um, I mean that too. And Caleb kept saying, you know, we need to get out, get out of the road. Get out of the road. But it didn't seem like there was any other place to go. So I, oh, I just give it up to them. Um, and then of course they get captured. I have to say one really funny moment. I didn't write this on the, um, on the chat yet. So I feel like I told you this after we recap the first episode.
maybe I didn't.
But on the boat, I commented on, you know, what everyone was wearing.
And one of the things that stood out to me was Cam was wearing a diamond anklet.
Yeah, I remember you saying that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I don't know if you noticed it, but it was on him when they, when he had to take off all of his clothes.
So, you know, everyone has to take off all their clothes.
And he takes off his sock and the diamond anklet is on his ankle.
So I'm like, oh my gosh, did he have it on from day one and just kept it in his sock?
Because that cannot be comfortable.
Like running with those boots on.
And I pretty much guarantee that he did not break in his boots because he hadn't watched the show.
And I think he just basically showed up.
And he, I mean, he could, of course, correct me if I'm wrong.
But I just was like, oh my gosh, there's the anklet.
It still survives.
it didn't fall off when he got pushed off the boat.
Oh my gosh.
Well, I mean, or when it was like traipsing through the mud or when he was in his, you know,
a couple different fist to cuff sessions, it's like, how did that thing stay on, you know?
I know.
I know.
And I can't believe he kept it on.
Like, I would have, I would have passed that thing over immediately, you know, to somebody
and said, take care of this.
Yeah, hang out of this.
Give it back to me at the end of this thing.
Yeah.
I know.
Me too.
Yeah.
So, yeah, we had the, they get care of it.
captured, they're given a story that they're supposed to tell. And this is actually, so this is
something I want to talk to you about. So what I thought was interesting was, you know, well, first
of all, they go through the whole interrogation thing and that the female interrogator and then
the male interrogator and then they keep going to the umpire. And I love the way it was shot. Like,
you only saw the umpire from here or down, you know? Totally. Yeah. And he's like, oh, that's tough.
That's a tough one right there. You know, and the way he was commenting. But, uh,
You know, Alana, obviously, they were challenging her as a mother saying she wasn't, you know, she was selfish and she was, you know, she shouldn't be there.
She should be with her family and, you know, playing on everything that like you, like you said, you know, that whole mom guilt thing, right, that moms all experience.
And it's like, you know, it's, it's horrible.
And they finally broke her, right?
Five and a half hours in.
Then it goes, what was the next one was, um, was Cam.
Yeah, it was Cam.
Yeah.
It was Cam. It was Cam. Yeah. And they finally break him. But they were like, oh, that's good. That's good. You know, he, he should have, you know, he should have, that was the right time to back out or whatever. Well, I thought that was hard. That was hard because I do want to talk about Cam for a little bit. He, you know, got interrogated. And the guy is, you brought it up earlier. The guy is in his face, like maybe a half of an inch from his face.
And I am so impressed with how he composed himself, like, blown away that he didn't react at all.
Like, he was like stone-faced, like, just staring at the guy.
I'm like, wow, that takes a lot.
Yeah, he looked so drained.
Like, they all did at that point, you know, like, and I thought he looked so drained.
But he was also, like, keeping it composed.
And then I didn't understand, was that, was that when they took his armband?
No.
No.
So he went out.
They had him, they had him go out and sit in the chicken coop, which is what Golden was telling us about how he sat in the chicken coop.
And basically, like, I don't know if they dug it out deeper, but I feel like Cam was sitting down.
And maybe it was because he had to because he's so much bigger than Golden.
But they were like, you know, move your head so that they could actually put the like wire, you know, cage top down.
And then they brought in buckets of water.
And I am 100% positive.
That was not warm water.
That was freezing cold water.
And they were all already shivering uncontrollably, you know, all of them.
You could see Brody especially.
Like he was so freezing cold.
So to be put in the chicken coop with these people who are like obviously very aggressive and yelling in your face.
And then the water.
And then the guy is like, oh, do you like that?
And Cam's like, yeah, I like it.
And I'm like, no, don't say that.
They're just going to do it more.
Yeah, I know.
I know.
So I was like, don't do it, Cam, don't do it.
But what's the right answer?
You know, it's like.
I know.
That was what was confusing about that part of the show for me.
So like, they're, you know, okay, but let's get back.
So refresh my mind why for some reason I'm not remembering this.
What happened next for them to take Cam's armband?
So he went into, so what he said was, I think what they told him in the beginning is that you have to be,
your life has to be threatened for you to give up your story, for you to give up the reality of your story.
In order to pass selection, you have to wait until your life is being threatened for you to admit that you are training with special forces.
And I think that they told them this when they were doing the like story, you know, the seaweed story, how they were collecting seaweed, whatever.
So I think they told them that then is you have to be, your life has to be threatened.
At least I hope that they told them
because it is a very, very fine line.
Like Cam, his life is not threatened,
but they, I think they poured the water on him
and then I want to say he told them then.
So he wasn't, his life wasn't being threatened.
They took him into another room
and he had to wait for the umpire to come in.
And I felt like, I felt kind of,
kind of bad for him. I felt like he, I mean, if they told them that your life has to be threatened
for you to give up the true story, then I understand. But if they didn't, then it is very, like,
it's a very fine line with who passes and who doesn't. That's what I was going to say,
because then with Golden, like, I would think, and I'm sure Golden was, first of all, he was
delirious you could just tell he was just sort of like slap happy delirious and they they they they he falls in
the water and they're like yeah fail and it's like hold on he still has a spilled the story like in
my mind he was doing the right thing by not spilling like by holding out with a story as long as
possible but I guess at that point they're like nope you got you got to you got to spill the story because
your life's threatened or whatever but yeah yeah that was a little confusing to me because I felt like
I was kind of on the fence
about how I felt about Cam being taken
what I thought was too early
and then Golden staying as long as he could
and then they take him. It's like, hold on.
I know. Well, wait. So I want to
comment on
so Golden is
on the
plank, essentially. He's
walking the plank. And
Kayla is sitting down with
her laces, zip tied
and to the cement
block. And
on the chat as well.
Kayla was like, I'm pissed
because it was so good.
Like how Golden like snapped,
finally snapped on the interrogator.
And Golden was like,
remind me what was said.
He can't remember.
And then she put something along the lines of,
you're not going to touch me.
And you're for damn sure not going to touch her.
So he totally stood up for her.
And I think that's probably when they pushed
pushed him in.
Yeah, that must be what.
Which I love.
And another funny thing from the text is,
Golden wrote, Brody, your alcohol in tattoo parlors is a thing, huh?
He's like, because they kept bringing up, like the woman was like, oh, so you like alcohol
or something.
And he was kind of like, what are you talking about?
Right.
I know.
I know.
And he's like, where'd you get this tattoo?
Oh, that was, that was a night of dream.
or whatever. It was almost like he leaned into it at that point, you know.
He totally did. That was actually a funny moment. Like, it's funny because they have said,
I don't know if Golden said this on his social media, but basically, like, they are, he's like,
they are so mean, but they're also, like, really nice in instances. So you, like, get drawn in
and you think, oh, like, we're going to be friends. Oh, no, you're not going to be friends.
They are just playing you.
They're playing you like a fiddle.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, at that point, we're looking at these guys who are just beyond, right?
I mean, they are completely exhausted.
Like, Golden couldn't even hold his head up.
I know.
It was insane, right?
And then, I mean, and then Brody and Kayla left at the end.
And, man, what a, what a journey for those two, man.
I mean, for everyone, I mean, especially, for all of you all, it was a huge journey.
But for those, particularly those last five, it was kind of like, wow.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Well, wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.

He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That sounds totally inappropriate.
Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age.
And it's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet.
So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?

Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.

Oh my God.
We have to bring up the Brody part about how he was getting, like, they were basically
going to drown him.
His eyes looked like, like, he was like, oh, my God, they're for real.
They're going to drown me.
I wonder, we have to ask him, like, was he like, just, like,
did he think he was, like, a step away from dying?
I bet he did.
I mean, it seemed like he was legitimately worried for his life, you know?
I mean, you know that it's a television show, but at the same time, they're pushing him down into the water.
And, again, I don't think it was warm water.
That was freezing cold water.
So cold.
Oh, my God.
So anyway, I was like, wow, the fact that he was in that, like, it's a basic.
like a pig, like a slot, what do you call it as, not a sloth, whatever. A trough. A trough. Something
like that. Um, yes, I was blown away that they did that to him. Um, and then Kayla with the
cement block around her feet wondering, he's like, okay, I'm going to push it. And she's like, no, no, no,
I'll tell you. I'm like, good girl. Thank God. I'm so glad they did. I mean, I doubt they would have
because that would just be like next level.
But at that point, I guarantee you she didn't know what they were going to do, you know?
I know, right?
I mean, she had been tortured.
Yeah.
We don't even know what they were going to do.
They might have done it if they had a scuba diver down there, like you said.
And if they, I was just going to say they might have had divers down there anyway, even if, like if someone fell in and needed them, I bet they had divers down there.
Gosh.
Just crazy.
Yeah.
I mean, I just am so.
impressed.
They really truly
crushed it.
And I wrote on the chat, I'm like
kudos, massive kudos
to the final five.
Like, I want to include
like Alana and
Cam and Golden
in this too. I know that
obviously Brody and Kayla make it to the end
but I feel like
Cam and Golden especially
were really, they went through like the torture
part of it. Yeah. And then they
just ended up, you know, not saying that they were actually there for special forces training
soon enough, you know, so or maybe late enough. I don't know, between soon enough and late
enough. Cam said it too soon and Golden didn't say it at all, you know, so. Right, right.
Totally. Totally. Yeah. Yeah. It's just, I mean, honestly, that was that was the only part of the show
that was a little confusing to me because I felt like it was a little, you know, a little subjective.
like they were kind of like you know well i don't know it was like a fine line that i couldn't tell
you know why one thing was going to happen over another but it was intense i mean yeah that whole
interrogation thing at first i was thinking like oh that's kind of silly you know i would just be like
whatever random person you know but then after a while it's like no they're hitting on every nerve
they've watched everything about you from this entire time you've been there probably the
footage a lot of footage we didn't even see and they're just going at you on all these things that
they know are your little Achilles heels, you know?
Totally.
Yeah.
We didn't mention this part, but when they were running, like Golden had fallen into
like a stream or something.
And his boots were wet the whole time.
Like, so you go from being wet and colds and really tired to being tortured.
Yeah.
For half of a day, essentially.
I just, I, I, I.
I give it up to them.
They just, they freaking crush it.
I mean, think about it this way.
They were, during that interrogation period, they never sat down, right?
I mean, for the most part, they were standing the whole time.
They did sit down when they, like, Golden was sitting on that chair, like the guy kept
saying, put your hands by your side.
So they did have them sitting, and Cam was sitting in a chair.
And then for like the, what do you call them, the torture positions, like when they had
their hands above their head, they were.
sitting, I think, for part of that, too.
I just think my back would hurt so bad.
Because, you know, like when you're cold and you're standing and then you're in that
torture position and everything, I would feel like I would start cramping.
Like, I would just be like, oh, I would just be dying.
Same.
I talked to the medics prior.
You know how they weren't going to clear me.
Yeah.
And part of it, they said, well, if you're put in these torture positions,
you're, you're going to have to be, like, because I said, I think they asked, can you sit cross, you know, criss-crass applesauce.
Just cross-a-sons.
Can you sit cross-legged or on your knees?
And I think I told them at some point that those bothered me.
Those positions really bothered me because of my back.
And all I could think of was how I would be really uncomfortable and probably would say,
Okay. I'm out. I really can't. I can't sit like this. It's just too painful.
Especially at that stage of the game because you would have been so fatigued, so tired, you know, like just beaten down.
And then it's like another thing. Like that's what I was thinking when I was watching those guys just getting chewed out was I was like, God, another thing, you know, like you're soaking white, you're freezing, you're, you got this dude in your face. You haven't slept in 24 hours. It's like you got a big fight the day before.
for, you know, or earlier this day or whatever it is. And it's just like, gosh, man, the emotional
toll that has to take on someone at that point is got to be just next level. I know. And I kept
thinking, oh my gosh, this has got to be like PTSD for everybody watching. Like, I can't imagine
having gone through that and watching it again. Like, it would bring back all of those feelings.
So I am hopeful that we can get, you know, these guys on to talk about this final day because, oh, actually, Kayla did say in her stories today that she had PTSD watching it.
Watching it took her back.
Yes.
I mean, really, like having to go through, it's kind of like, I mean, it's not like this at all, really.
But when you watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette and you're like, you know, having to put yourself.
back in that frame of mine and you're like, oh, why did I say that or why did I do that or
whatever? And this is obviously very different. But I feel like it's a little traumatizing to
have to watch yourself. And not to have to. I'm sure they're not being forced to watch it,
of course. But yeah, I just, I'm so proud of him. It's not for me to say that I'm proud of him.
I mean, please. I was only there for two days. Two plus days.
No, but you're part of a, you're part of a very special group of people that did something, you know, very intense together.
And even though, you know, people left at different times, it was, you know, we always said from the top of this show, it wasn't about winning.
It was about, you know, proving to yourself that you could overcome these things.
And you guys all overcame things. And so I think it's pretty remarkable, you know, just the fact that you all went through it.
you're all still on this text thread and talking about it,
which I'm sure is very helpful for everyone to be able to do that with each other.
And, you know, because you guys are the only ones who went through this, you know,
and it's pretty, it's pretty awesome.
I think it's, I think it's a really cool experience.
And I'm really, I'm really happy that you did it.
Like, obviously, we have to talk a lot about it and stuff.
I'm happy that you did it for you.
And I'm really happy that I got to, like, see a different side of, like,
I mean, I said it from a couple weeks ago, but Brody, I feel like is the person who
not that he needed it but got such redemption such character redemption out of this show
by being this guy who all of a sudden is vulnerable and is like I get what everybody thinks about me
you know and yeah you're like I use even saying he's like from the interrogation thing I think
he was the one that said um you know you have these like sometimes you know when something
embarrassing happens in your life and these paparazzi guys will like throw it in your face
when you're walking on the street with your mom or something and he's like and you got to like
you got to keep it together and you can't strike out
at them because then it's even going to get worse. And it was interesting because I do remember
times like that in my past where, you know, they'd be yelling stuff and you'd be like,
oh my God, this guy, you know, like, why would he do that? He's trying to get a reaction
on him. He don't give him one. And so, I mean, you know, Brody, I think, really showed a different
side of himself. And I think that, you know, it was obvious. It meant a lot to those, to the DSs as well
that, you know, that he went through that because they were very, very high on him, it seemed.
Yeah, totally. And they still are. I feel like they're, they'll be close friends for, for life, you know. I also want to say, like Alana said that she wasn't taken seriously. You know, she isn't taken very seriously as a professional surfer. And I want to say, well, now she better be because holy crap. She's a beast. She proved herself. She is a beast. I mean, basically, you know, proving to everybody that she could be at the,
front of the line and and and crushing it so i want to say props to alana for like you know for crushing it
and and proving to these people who um haven't you know given her um what what was the word
what um who haven't taken her personally haven't taken her seriously um so i yeah i think that
that's really cool i think that kela's story about
about how, you know, the relationship with Travis and internet trolls coming after.
And she really, I think, feel like came into her own.
You know, she found her power within her.
And I think that that was so cool to watch to see her come into that, you know,
come into her own and really feel that.
You could really feel her confidence coming through it.
at the end. Like, I freaking did this. You know, she's got to be on cloud nine today. So,
um, you know, not that today is the day. Like, I'm sure she was on cloud nine when it happened,
but, um, yeah, it was, it was just really cool to see. And I know that obviously we've had
women win this show in the past with Hannah Brown. Um, and, you know, the, the soccer player. Um,
and then the Olympic, the Olympic athlete on the second season. So,
It's not like women can't do it, but I just, you know, as a woman, I'm here for it.
Love to see it.
Heck yeah.
I mean, honestly, I thought that that whole top five was lights out, like next level.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast.
So, we'll find out soon.
This person writes,
My boyfriend has been hanging out
with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem,
but I don't trust her.
Now, he's insisting we get to know each other,
but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That sounds totally inappropriate.
Well, according to this person,
this is her boyfriend's former professor
and they're the same age.
It's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person
to believe him because he now wants them
both to meet.
So do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?
To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app,

The U.S. Open is here.
And on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain, I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history.
The predictions will we see a first time winner and the pressure?
Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know.
Plus, the stories and events off the court and, of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail
of the U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event.
I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans,
whether you play tennis or not.
Tennis is full of compelling stories of late.
Have you heard about Icon Venus Williams' recent wild card bids or the young Canadian
Victoria Mboko making a name for herself?
How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form?

Imagine that you're on an airplane, and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers. The pilot is having an emergency, and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane.
Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land.
the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this.
Do this, pull that, turn this.
It's just, I can do it my eyes close.
I'm Mani.
I'm Noah.
This is Devin.
And on our new show, no such thing, we get to the bottom of questions like these.
Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence.
Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack
expertise.
And then, as we try the whole thing out for real.
Wait, what?
Oh, that's the run right.
I'm looking at this thing, see?

Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor.
And I'm Drew Phillips.
And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom.
If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you.
But if you have unmedicated ADHD...
Oh, my God, perfect.
And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble.
Yes, yes.
Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.

Search Emergency Intercom and listen now.
Okay, so but we have to, I think, finish the pod with talking about how who you predicted was going to be at the end and what actually happened.
What were your predictions again?
I thought it was going to be down.
I thought it was going to be down to Carrie, golden, Cam, and Brody.
So I got three out of those four.
And then I thought Kayla.
So I knew she was going to be in there.
And I really did.
I thought Brody was going to win it.
But I think I don't think I, I'm not sure what I said.
I think I want to say I think that I said Cam or Brody was going to win it.
I want to say that you thought it was all four of the guys.
and maybe through Kayla in there, I'm not sure,
but I'd love to go back in here if you don't.
We'll have to go back and listen to the first episode.
I remember thinking to myself
because I just thought like just sheer physicality,
I thought Cam, Carrie, and Gold and Brody.
I know I said that.
But I also, that was right after the fight episode,
when Kayla went like a bulldog lights out, you know, just beating people.
And I was like, hold on, hold on.
This is, you know, this is impressive.
I did not have Alana in there.
And I regret that because, you know, I think, I guess, I guess, you know,
you're looking at a standpoint of, I'm thinking a Navy seal in my head.
And so I'm thinking it's got to be this, you know, this beef cake person, you know.
Yeah.
But, man, I will say, like watching that show,
So from the very beginning of it, it was an emotional journey this last episode.
Yeah.
Well, for me, the whole damn season, but this last episode in particular, like, it started off.
I was just like, oh, my God, they've got to be just so beaten down.
You know, like, you almost like go there with them, you know, as a viewer.
But I think it's such a cool show, you know.
I agree.
I was going through, I'm going to make a reel of kind of like behind the scenes of me in London, before and after.
And I was going through video and pictures last night.
And one of the videos that I went through was me just kind of sharing just selfie mode, you know, what had happened and how I was feeling and everything.
And I was like, and I can't wait to take a shower.
I mean, it was the best shower.
So I can't even imagine what these five were feeling.
how was it how was it for you watching it like i mean were you like i mean having been a part of the show
like you were and i mean how was it how was it for you watching the finale was it like were you
happy watching it were you sad were you were you you know were you like were you like bummed out
that like did you have any regrets like you know anything when you were watching it i i definitely
have flipped back and forth through the whole season including last night you know part
me really wanted to be there.
I mean, I was, there's a quote that I saw something about, just don't quit.
And Ryan was like, just don't quit.
Like, period, end of story, just don't quit.
And I essentially quit.
But I think that I followed what my body was telling me.
Like, I was at such a peaceful place when I made that decision.
and I really hate feeling like a burden,
and I was really feeling like a burden.
And then I flipped to, well, I didn't have to participate in the fight
because three people went home with broken bones,
so thank God I didn't break any bones.
And then just the running, like, in between the tasks.
Like, I really, really had a hard time with it.
And, and I feel like that hike, the, the hike where Kyla and Christy both left.
Yeah.
Did you see that?
Did you watch that?
Did we recap?
Okay.
So the hike, I was like, oh, I would have been out.
I feel like I would have been out before the last day anyway because of that hike.
I mean, the fact that Kyla made it as far.
as she did, and she, like, didn't make it, like, she VWed on the hike.
Yeah.
We were, you know, we were about the same in terms of our ability to run in between
tasks with our heavy rocks on our back.
So I don't, I feel like, realistically, I wouldn't have made it to the finale anyway,
knowing what happened after I left.
Right.
So it's hard because it's like, there's just this internal battle of, should I have left?
Well, you didn't want to feel like a burden anymore and you didn't get, you didn't end up getting hurt.
But could you have stayed for longer?
Maybe, you know, it's like these, my little demons.
Your demons on each shoulder.
Yeah.
Well, you know, your rationale when you left the show, though, I thought was very respectful.
And, you know, to go along with the, with the whole purpose of this show, which is, you know, these guys.
you know, they said it more than once.
We're trying to figure out who we would essentially select
to be with us in the field when we're going through this stuff.
And for you, when you left, you know, you were like,
I have so much respect for what our, you know, servicemen and women do.
And I just don't want to be a burden to my team or my class or whatever you said.
I thought it was really of all the reasons to leave to me,
feeling like you don't want to let your team down and you're a burden to your team
and you can see that and it's it's respectful you know it was like it wasn't like i'm leaving
you know i'm still i'm still irritated why stephen baldwin left you know oh i i really shouldn't
be here but should i be here could i get hurt i don't know maybe i will but i have this role
coming up and it's like come on dude you know just go don't you know but it was like it was like
a struggle for you to go and it was a struggle for alley and it was a struggle you know because
because you guys were really going for it, you know?
And I think that, I think it's respectful, I guess what I'm trying to say.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I know, I keep telling myself, you know, those little things, like, you know, just reminders
of how I was feeling and things like that that I feel like I did leave in a respectful way,
but still, you know, the devil is still very active.
And it always will be.
So I, but I feel like I learned a little bit that, you know, especially after talking
to D.S. Billy and Rudy here on the podcast, they were like, this is, you did the best that
you could. We could see that you were doing the best that you can. So I guess the like learning
lesson, not just for me, but for anybody listening is don't be down on yourself if you're not
the strongest or the fittest or the tallest or the skinniest or the, you know what I mean?
Whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Just do you. Just do you.
And, you know, thank God, there are people in this world like Billy and Rudy and Q and Foxy
who sacrifice so much for our freedom.
And I'm like, you know, I'm not that person, but I have so much respect for those people.
Me too.
You proved it to yourself.
I mean, well, you proved it to me anyway.
I think you proved it to a lot of people watching, too, that you got what it takes,
lady you got out there you you were tough and you were committed and you got out when it was the
right time for you to get out and everybody's exit point is different right and so totally you know
that's that's fully do that's worthy of everyone's respect too so I think it was really great
a really great show and I'm bummed it's over but I'm glad we get to talk about it I hope a few more
times with some more of the people that were on the show with you yes we're we are planning on
having Alana and Kyla and Kayla.
We've got those three lined up.
So those will be coming in the future, everybody.
And then hopefully we can get Carri-on and Cam and Brody.
I would love to get Landon on, but I don't know that he is, you know, doing any press for it or interested in talking about it.
I think he's pretty bummed that he had to leave because of broken ribs.
so who knows maybe in the future we will oh yay okay kaila just wrote me back so we're we're gonna be able to at least talk to the three of them and then and then relive it you know in the next couple weeks so i just want to say thank you for everyone listening and supporting and i loved the show i loved being part of it never ever would have thought in my wildest dreams that this is something
that I would have signed up for.
But I'm proud of myself.
I'm proud of myself for just taking that leap of faith and challenging myself,
especially at 50, two years old.
So anyway, I'll be really excited to see the next season who they ask,
because you know I'm putting in my husband's name for sure.
I know.
Yes.
I am hopeful that they will actually, like, put him on the shift.
So, oh, this is actually a good question.
And I do have to go after this.
But who do you think, who do we think would be another good person from Bachelor Nation to have on?
Because obviously they have at least one person from Bachelor Nation on each season.
Yeah.
What would be your prediction about who they would ask?
Interesting.
Well, I'd like to see Ryan.
Yeah, I really.
And you know who I think would be interesting on there.
would maybe be Matt James.
You know, Matt James is like a big runner, big athlete, right?
And he's got a lot of things going on right now.
A lot of demons.
A lot of demons he's working through right now, maybe.
I mean, I don't know personally.
There's some things he's working through.
Yeah.
And they could, you know, they would probably want to go after that a little bit, I would
think.
And, you know, so I think that would be really interesting.
I think he'd be a good one.
He just strikes me as a good athlete, too, like as someone who I think would be,
you know, able to compete well on that show.
And he's friends with Tyler Cameron, who won the second season.
Yeah.
So there's that.
And then, let's see, I want to think of a couple former athletes, too.
But I'll save it.
I'm going to think on it.
I want to think on that so that when we get on the air next time, we can talk about it.
But I would think, I would think there's a lot of people who have retired in the last couple of years who might be really good on that show.
I feel like I would really love to have another bachelorette, like a lead, a lead.
Jojo.
Jojo!
Jojo!
Yes!
I love that idea.
I was going to say Caitlin, but Caitlin has put on her stories that she's like,
no way I will ever do that show.
Nothing on there because, you know, I mean, well, actually, maybe even Jojo and Jordan.
Maybe they put a couple on there.
Do it together.
That'd be good.
Two them are pretty athletic, right?
Jordan's a former college football player.
And, you know, that'd be interesting.
those would be good i like that idea we'll have to ask ashley because she clearly um has the the power
she knew i was going to get asked yeah yeah she did yeah all right well thanks everybody
thank you thank you trista sutter thanks for everyone listening to almost famous the og podcast
