Welcome back to the Almost Famous OG podcast.
I am your host, Bob Guinea here.
And tonight, I am so excited.
We're doing a Bachelor in Paradise Recap.
We got one of my favorite people on the show with me who's going to be talking through this.
And she lived it, my friends, a golden in paradise.
It's been amazing.
Our dear friend Kathy Swartz, hi, Kathy.
Hey, Bob.
How are you tonight?
I am so good.
Man, I'll tell you what.
I loved watching you in this episode, you and my boy Gonzo.
And I really enjoyed watching you guys.
And it was interesting to me.
And I'm so excited to get your take on this because I was watching you guys as, you know, I love you because you're my friends, right?
But also, I'm watching you guys as kind of like the voice of reason at times.
And then honestly, sitting in silence, like almost in shock and awe of what you were viewing going on.
I mean, this was kind of a major turning point for Paradise.
It went from all fun and games and kind of happy go lucky puppy dogs and ice cream.
And then this episode, we started seeing some.
strategicy we started seeing some some people kind of burying themselves which wasn't great for
a few people did good old-fashioned politicking yeah the parliament paradise parliament whatever it was
but how was it for you i mean you're living it obviously so you to watch it back what was the
difference between what you were feeling in that moment and what you're feeling watching it back
today well honestly it feels very much the same i was in the headlight watching all this
politicking going on, and people come to him and say, who do you want to go home? What do you think?
And I just kept thinking, we've got two strands here. We have love and we have money.
And we mix the two, it gets really interesting. So for me, I didn't really want to be part of the
politicking. I just, some of those young girls are really good friends. So Keith and I were really
trying to stay out of the fray.
But it certainly did feel different because now people are just fessing up.
No relationship, I'm here for the money.
And I have to clear my name here.
I had said in a previous episode that was televised a couple of episodes ago that I would
never take money from the kids, that I would self-eliminate if it came to that.
But I was having so much fun doing the challenges and getting.
So for me, it was just, this is so fun and interesting to watch.
Sure.
Oh, I can only imagine.
And you know what?
When it's, when it's $50,000, you know, maybe not.
But when it's $500,000, I'm sorry.
I'm taking money from everybody, right?
I mean, at that point, it's interesting.
If it came down to it, me or somebody else, I want the money, too.
I have to be honest.
You know, call me, call me Mother Teresa.
I am, I have a lot of life left to live.
but I'm not like these young kids getting life started.
And so I really honestly say it tonight and said it during Paradise,
I was not taking money from kids.
Just goodness.
And Keith is a great guy and he and I both agreed on that.
Yeah, well, you could tell you guys, I think, you know,
one of the things that I saw in tonight's episode, again, largely probably because it's,
you know, because I love you guys, but watching the show and I was,
I felt like you were just sort of letting people air their stuff out.
You guys weren't even really commenting on every,
thing. I know some of that's probably editing as well, but you guys were, you know,
we were just sort of listening and kind of letting everybody say their pieces and they're pulling
you aside. You're like, okay, and you'll take the walk with them. And that had to be kind of
interesting. It was, it was interesting. And watching it back tonight, oh, really, Brian. And
Prisa, let's get rid of Kathy and Keith Wrigley. Yeah. Yeah. So that, those things are always
interesting. But I knew, here's the thing. There's, there were two brains going on.
during that episode.
One was who's in love and who's a strong couple and who's going to be a strong couple regardless.
And then like Jonathan,
full up,
you know,
Fest up,
I'm here for the money and I don't want to go home.
And Keith and I were just there having fun because we love the young ones.
So, you know.
Yeah.
No,
I loved it.
I loved watching you guys kind of open the episode too.
First of all,
I loved,
you know,
the one thing about Paradise with this many seasons under its belt.
It definitely did a revamp,
but it went back to kind of the,
old intros which were kind of like the cheesy three's company style thing which i love you know
i always found that kind of kitschy and fun for the show um but it opens we see people eat
and breakfast we see people working out of course which are two standards and then we see you guys
basically you and keith going through and you're kind of you know talking through everybody and
giving your feelings you know jonathan lea not a couple just like us you know um what do we think
of that, you know, how is this thing going to be all about people who are in love?
It became interesting to hear Brian basically kind of realizing that his head was on a chopping
block and he might well go home tonight.
And then Hannah comes out, she greets everybody.
She's on the walkie-talkie and she's basically saying, okay, this is it, the next relationship
task, treasure hunk, right?
And basically one's going to hunt for the treasure, which is the partner in a giant
treasure chest.
And then the other person has to basically listen to the walkie-talkie commands and find specific things that will help unlock this chest.
Now, how is that for you?
Because you made a really funny comment, by the way, you're like, next time I'm in a treasure chest, if I got some cocktails, I'll do this.
But I'm not doing this otherwise.
Well, it was really easy.
A lot of the couples were saying, you know, are you better giving directions?
Keith just looked at me and said, there's no way.
I'm claustrophobic.
I sent this.
Not that I loved it.
But, you know, going in a trunk.
But that literally was how we made the decision to go.
Yeah.
I would, yeah, Canyon and I would have had an easy choice.
She's super claustophobic.
So it would have been, I'd been in the box.
Yeah.
And remember, I had a nice bottle of alcohol thrown at me.
See there?
There you go.
I was taken care of.
Amen.
Nice work.
That's what you can do when you're a golden in paradise.
You can make some demands.
That's right.
And the wool show you're going to supply.
But it seemed like the ante was really kind of raised in a couple.
ways obviously one with this more challenging task right and then two they basically say like listen
two women are going home tonight right which means two couples are going home and it's almost like a
line is drawn in the sand because if you heard it once you heard it a hundred times in the episode
you know well do we let's keep the real couples here right let's send home the platonic couples not that we
don't love them they're great but you know that's what this show's all about and it is interesting
because you're right it kind of harkens back to like for love or money and some other reality shows like
that where it was kind of like, you know, even Joe Millionaire, right? Where it was like,
hey, you come down to the end, you get a big chunk of dough, you know, and if you also
find love, good on you, right? So it was interesting. And you said it. You were like,
you know what? I get it. I want to see the strong couples survive. And Keith was like, I think
the strong couples. But you kind of called it. You were like, well, however, what is the right
way to play this game at this point? You know, like you were kind of seeing the forest of the trees,
which I love your insight.
Thanks.
I just felt like the honesty started to prevail, you know, people saying,
what do we have to do to get the money?
And not everybody, by the way, was saying, let's keep the strong couples.
Some people were saying, let's get rid of the strong couples because they're competition.
And my answer was, like, their competition because they're in love or are they competition
because they're going to win the challenges, which is it, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. And I thought that was interesting. I mean, Sean right away, you know, I think he thought he was pretty savvy at first. And then when he kind of got the realization that he had been outed, it was it was bad news for him. But he was basically trying to play the old Survivor game, right, with some people who didn't have any interest in playing it. And so when he was talking to them, he thought he was kind of talking to people that were agreeing with him. He just was not reading the room at all, right?
Absolutely. And I will tell you, I truly, Keith and I thought we were going home. I had on my white long satin dress and I was going to get engaged in not. And so, well, I'm going home tonight. I might as well, I'm going home tonight. I might as well wear it.
So when they called my name, I was shocked. Yeah. I really thought we were out. But I will say, young ones like us and they didn't see us. As I say, they knew Keith and I are good friends. We never, you know, pretended to be.
anything else and we still aren't we're still good friends however however um some people saw
that as a good thing that we weren't um strong couple and in my head i'm thinking it doesn't matter
of you're a strong couple what matters is are you good at the games right yeah and are you good
at seeing through what's going on i mean you know like like you guys obviously were you know you
read right through the whole sean thing i felt bad for alicia uh
You know, in that moment when she was kind of like realizing that, you know,
but she was kind of on board at first, you know?
And so she kind of took, we followed out tonight watching the episode, right?
But it was like she obviously wasn't on board for that much of the hardcore politicking.
You could tell that.
And that is exactly it.
She was on board with the strategy to win, but Sean took it to a whole other level.
Yeah.
And he kind of got, he's the reason, right?
I mean, and then it's kind of interesting.
They're like, we're going to go out with integrity.
and it's like, you know, I've often thought this
when people do this on The Bachelor and the Bachelor,
they know they're not getting a rose, right?
They'll be like, hold on, you know, Chris, hold on, you know, Jesse.
I'm out of here.
You know, it's like, oh, okay, you already know you're going home, bro.
You know, and so it's like, is it really that much of a move of integrity?
You know, I don't think so.
Well, I think, honestly, I don't know.
I was just there.
I mean, if I'm being funny.
I mean, I honestly think Alicia,
I don't think
Sean thought they were going home.
I think Alicia knew they were
and I think she really wanted to go out
with integrity.
Sean, I think, was surprised.
Yeah.
Yeah, he didn't seem like it, you know.
But let's go back to this.
So Jess and Spencer win the challenge.
Yeah.
Right?
And they're a really cute couple, man.
I mean, I think they're really coming along.
They, I'm telling you from the minute
I stepped onto Paradise,
those two, what you're seeing is who they,
are um they are just in love with each other they're cute they're just adorable i mean i would sit in her
room and she would just go on and on about you know how adorable he is and how much she's grown to
like him it's just i love i love seeing young people fall in love yeah it is pretty sweet to watch
at home too so during that game while you guys are playing it obviously you've got the walkie-talkie
you and keith who are great friends are clearly having some trouble communicating uh the while you're like
hold the button down longer.
He's like, I can't hold it any longer.
I can't hold it any harder for God's sake.
To be fair, there were some issues with the walkie-talkies.
So it wasn't a Keith and Kathy issue.
Other people were having trouble.
Some of them worked better than others.
But I had said to Keith, I'm going to speak very slowly because I've had kids and
walkie-talkies on a ski mountain and it gets garbled very quickly.
So for me who taught, I'm from Boston.
Austin. I speak religious. I had to think about enunciation. And I did. And God love Keith.
I knew we were screwed when if you saw the episode where like the numbers that he's supposed
to get. He's got. Yeah. Yeah. Like I transposed them or something. I don't remember what he said.
And it goes, I'm ADHD. I was like, oh, my God. That's why I said, don't send a man to do a woman's job.
That was so good. And I remember one of the, like one of the signs said one. The other one said one.
So it's like, how can you mix up those first two, right?
It's one and one.
But yeah, no, it was, it was funny to watch.
And you guys have such a great banter.
And I love your friendship.
I always have.
He is a very, very, very kind man.
I, you know, to say that he's a girl dad,
he is just a really kind man and very empathetic.
He really is.
He is.
He's a fun dude to party with, but then he can also get really sensitive.
And, yeah, he's a sweetheart of a guy.
I really love him.
So then round four comes up, right?
We get through the first couple rounds.
We got Bailey and Jeremy versus Spencer and Jess.
Yeah.
Neck and neck between these two teams.
Spencer and Jess get done first.
They complete the challenge.
Bailey and Jeremy finish the challenge as well.
They're just behind them.
So it's kind of like they both actually finish a challenge, right?
Which is pretty good.
Says a lot about them and their relationship.
We got one key.
Yeah, I'm going to go with that's really good.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
And then back on the resort that night.
So Jesse points out that the challenge.
was all about communication, right?
And obviously that's an important part of relationships.
And I didn't let Canyon watch that part because I didn't want her to, you know, to come
at me for anything.
I'm just kidding.
But yeah, the winners were Spencer and Jess.
They went a date and it's basically their first, first date.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
And what I liked was she makes the statement that I, you know, at the end, and I'm spoiling
everybody's, you know, opportunity to watch the show.
But at the end when she says, you know, I hope this is both of our last first dates we ever
have that was pretty that was pretty strong man that was nice you know i think when remember i've
been around a few decades when you see a couple that you just look at them and you look at their
eyes and from the get-go i'm telling you from the minute i got there they didn't have to say anything
they really just um just have this spark and when i the girls would be sitting in the bedroom she was
It's just so cute about talking about them.
And, you know, you heard it at the end of the night.
I don't know whether I can move in with him yet.
And in my head, I didn't say it out loud.
I'm thinking, yeah, one of you'll be moving.
It's going to happen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, you know, it's funny.
I mean, yeah, we'll get to that because I want to talk about a couple things at the end of the episode that I thought were interesting.
But, you know, Leah and Leah thinks that she and Jonathan are on the chopping block, which, to be honest, they kind of were, right?
I mean, especially if you were listening to what Sean was saying to everybody.
You know, you talked to Jess and you were pretty up front.
You're like, I really want to stay.
You know, I really am having a great time.
I want to stick around.
You know, a lot of people were being a little more kind of hidden about their motivations,
but you were just putting it out there.
And I thought that was actually pretty great because you were leading by example, in my opinion,
knowing you as I do, I felt like you were kind of like saying, you know, hey, I want to stay.
So I'm just going to tell everyone I'd like to stay.
I mean, is that what you were thinking going into that?
I, you know, I don't know whether the world will believe it or not, but honestly, I was having so much fun.
I did want to stay, but I wanted to stay to see the love connections and the couples growing in their relationship.
And, I mean, who wouldn't want to stay at a beach in Costa Rica, right?
I mean, I just, I loved watching love and everything else develop on that show.
I love, I personally love the challenges.
I want to think the next challenge was.
I love him with Keith.
I mean, it was like, and if you're, if you're really being honest,
the couples wanted to stay who were in love.
The couples wanted to stay who wanted money.
And there was also an intersection.
Some who were in love wanted the money.
Some just wanted love.
Some just wanted money.
Yeah.
And some were just having so much damn fun.
They just didn't want to go home.
And that would be.
Yeah, I was going to say, yeah.
How is the food, by the way?
I mean, you know, I was wondering, like, was the food pretty?
Because I've been to Costa Rica now twice, and both times I just loved the food.
Well, so I've been three times at different parts.
And I was really worried that I was going to be eating Plotnose, beans, and rice.
Every night, yeah.
Every night.
And I have to say the food was great.
The resort was fabulous.
It was great.
I mean, I loved it.
I have nothing to compare it to.
but thank you for air conditioning and no bugs
yeah that was the new thing right
I mean that was the new thing
although it looks like in coming
you know coming episodes we might be seeing some bugs
well there are some
I'm not going to spoil it for anyone but I
found out that you know bugs bats
you saw the episode where I went nuts
but I hate them too
I'm bigger than they are bats
yeah yeah bats scare the hell out of me
and and you can't
squish them like you try and they have like a vertebrae that doesn't break so they just like come
bouncing back it's crazy I tried using a tennis racket I never want to get close to one again
we'll have to strike that because we don't want PETA getting mad at us but yeah I've taken
I've taken a tennis racket to a bat more than once so and let's just say it didn't hurt him
at all the bat was fine my boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously
suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other,
but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally
inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the
same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between
them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him
because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated
with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the
iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

The holiday rush. Parents hauling luggage. Kids gripping their new Christmas tour.
Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed.
There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal.
Apparently the explosion actually impelled metal, glass.
The injured were being loaded into ambulances,
just a chaotic, chaotic scene.
In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged,

Terrorism.

Novak Djokovic.
The world's number one male tennis player.
He's won 14 grand slams in a glittering career.
Novak Djokovic!
You've been through so many injuries, losses.
Oh, I've showed himself.
What has Novak Djokovic done?
What goes through your mind when you lose?
I just want to be left alone.
What has it taken to become Novak Djokovic?
It's a consistent practice.
It's prayer work, mindfulness, meditation, conscious breathing.
breathing. It requires more responsibility from you on a daily basis to prepare yourself for the
biggest battle. When you reach your 30, you start counting your days to your retirement. I'm 38 this
year. How far can I go? How long can I push my own limits? Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty
on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Have you ever wished for a
change but weren't sure how to make it? Maybe you felt stuck in a job, a place, or even a relationship.
I'm Emily Tish Sussman, and on she pivots, I dive into the inspiring pivots of women who have taken big leaps in their lives and careers.
I'm Gretchen Whitmer, Jody Sweeten, Monica Patton, Elaine Welteroff.
I'm Jessica Voss.
And that's when I was like, I got to go.
I don't know how, but that kicked off the pivot of how to make the transition.
Learn how to get comfortable pivoting because your life is going to be full of them.
Every episode gets real about the why behind these changes and gives you the inspiration and maybe the push to make.
your next pivot listen to these women and more on she pivots now on the iHeart radio app apple
podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts so we got okay where we're at the show now we've got
a leachian shan on the lounge chair talking about the upcoming vote shan's think shan saying they
might have a target on his back his dad's in politics which he thinks gives him a leg up
and he wants to form an alliance the chatter amongst the group is that
that Parisa is now saying Brian's her boyfriend.
Yeah.
And Bailey wants to keep other people around that are actually in love,
like her and Jeremy and, you know, whatever.
And then Sean basically goes around to talk to anyone who I think will talk to him
about aligning with him, right?
And Brian starts hearing the chatter, which he seemed remarkably close to your guy's table.
Like, did you got, did no one just see him there?
Like, was it just that we didn't see him?
Because it looked like he was like two feet away.
I don't think there was anyone really too worried about who was listening to whom about it, to be honest.
Because it was like, yeah, yeah, you know, and he's like, hey, man.
But I will say, and one thing I thought was actually kind of cool was, as much as Sean kind of was coming off poorly in this episode, when Brian confronted him, he owned it.
He's like, yeah, I think you guys are one of the stronger couples and you're a threat to me and I need you to go home.
You know, I was like, wow, okay, I wasn't expecting that.
And I would say Sean and Alicia are one of the couples that at this point in the show are
definitely forming a love connection and by God, give me some cash.
Yeah.
Yeah, they wanted both things, right?
One of the things which I loved, and I'm sure you probably enjoyed this too, was as Brian's
kind of confronting him, yeah, he's owning some of it, I guess, not all of it.
But then he says, no, man, I wasn't even talking about you.
And it says, three minutes earlier.
And he's like, yeah, we got to get Brian a priest of the hell out of here.
And then they go back and say four minutes earlier.
I mean, it was not a good look.
No, did not reflect well.
Bob, there are some people that handled the truth carelessly in this episode.
Yes, there are.
That's a really nice way to put it.
So, I mean, it was crazy.
You even say in there more than much, you're like,
I can't figure out what the hell Sean's doing at this point.
The game has changed.
You did say, and this is where I was saying what I liked,
Keith was saying he thinks the couple in love should stay.
You're saying, you know what?
I disagree with you.
I think the couple that plays the game the best should stay.
And, you know, that is, if you really think about it, yes, Bachelor in Paradise in the past has always been a show where you're hopeful for a love connection.
Right.
But there's still some stuff going on that isn't, you know, so above work.
But in this one, by introducing the money, they definitely have taken this show to a new place.
And I got to be honest, I think I agree with you.
I think once you put the money out there, it's a different game.
Yes, love, you're hoping love wins, right?
But I remember, and Heather, you might need to help me on this one,
but I remember back in the day when they first did the Bachelor Pad,
and they introduced money on that show, right?
And so this was prior to Bachelor in Paradise.
Bachelor Pad went away, I think, after two or three seasons.
But there was a season where the couple gets to the end.
And I don't know.
This might happen in Bachelor in Paradise.
I'm not sure.
The couple gets to the end and they have to choose the love or the money.
And the way that it went was if you both choose love, you get love, right?
If you both choose money, you get money.
And if one chooses love and one chooses money, the one who wins the money, wins it.
And some guy, and Heather, that's why I can't remember who this was, but this guy basically flips a sign over and it's money.
the girl flips over and it's love
and he takes the money
and it wasn't this money it wasn't 500,000
it wasn't that much but whatever it was
it was I remember it being scandalous
like crazy scandalous
and I can start seeing
you know you start seeing cracks in the armor
right when you're getting to this stage
in the game and people are starting to
get there if they are in love
and they both choose love
and they think man we're gonna
both be in love and come off the show
and maybe not have any money,
because I don't know what the plot twist is yet,
then it's like, interesting,
how much do we love each other or do we?
Or she in love of me, I'm not with her or vice versa.
Exactly.
And I agree with you, Bob.
Once you introduce money into the mix,
you're going to have that discourse.
It becomes a strategy of figuring out what's the best strategy, right?
Do we just love?
Do we say, screw the money?
And that's what I was trying to say to Keith,
that I feel like people who are in love are going to be,
whether they go off that night or at the end of the show,
if they're in love,
they're walking away in love.
And to me, that's a gift.
It is, yeah.
And if you can walk away, not in love, with 500K,
that's also a gift of a day.
Yeah, that's a gift for sure.
I think Keith and I were just,
we weren't arguing with each other.
We were just sort of showing those two sides, right,
to the decision and I think the show is that's what we're seeing where you know Jonathan is saying
I want to stay he is no interest romantic interest in Leia but right give me some cash right
yeah okay so it was Nick Peterson and Rachel and the difference was you either said keep the money
or share the money she said share he said keep wow I thought it was love or money that was a different show
obviously. So this one was, you know, keep your share. So yeah, so I mean, I'm wondering, given the
fact that, you know, Bachelor in Paradise replaced Bachelor pad, right? And for the longest time,
it didn't have that twist. Now they're bringing that twist back. I wonder if that comes with it.
I wonder. I mean, who knows, it might be you and Keith standing up there and you could tell me,
but don't do it yet. Don't do it yet. I can not tell a lie, so I'm just going to zip it.
There you go. So let me ask you this. You and Keith are sitting there having this debate,
which I know it wasn't an argument, but were you thinking in that moment,
oh, we're not as aligned on this topic as I thought we would be.
And did that matter to you?
It didn't matter to me because one of the things I love about Keith,
he's very insightful and he's very respectful.
And he's a great sense of humor.
So there was no argument.
It was sort of like, oh, really?
Because here's what I think.
And it was just a discourse.
It was not an argument.
So I think he appreciated.
my point of view and I appreciated his but I think we both thought um that we were going home
that night and I remember Keith saying to me at some point you know there's a chance we might
stay here tonight because Keith were chatting with the guys the young guys and yeah on Rose night
I mean and so I mean I love them all I cannot tell you how much I love these people there
There, did you see my Dale with his arm around me?
I was like, yes.
How do I get rid a cap?
That's what I'm thinking.
Yeah, I mean, it was interesting.
You know, it's, it's so fun.
It's so fun that it's you two left, too.
Like, of all the Goldens, I feel like I was close.
I'm closest with the two of you.
So it was fun to see you guys still there, still, you know, still mixing it up.
And being, I think in a lot of ways, you know, obviously being peers with these, with these younger people.
But also, I feel like they kind of, you could tell they really look up to you guys.
They respect you guys.
And so I think there's that kind of kindness as well.
Like it's not such a dog-eat-dog world.
And, you know, you said something at the tail end of the episode, which I thought was great because you said, hey, now we just need to win a challenge next week, which I think could be foreshadowing.
I'm just saying.
So, yeah, so we got a couple things going on.
They're on a tantric date, right?
Spencer and Jess, looking very connected.
That almost went rated R.
We were at PG-13 at that moment.
It kind of took a turn.
But they are start talking about,
they start talking about a little strategy as well.
You know, like Spencer says,
I think we're the strongest couple.
Jess says,
God,
the money could kickstart our future together, you know?
Wait, did you hear Jesso then, you know,
put the lawsuit and pull them back in and say,
whoa, whoa, whoa, we're here for love.
Yes.
She's like, we've already found what we came here for.
That's right.
Which I thought was a really sweet thing to say.
And Spencer said, I'm falling in love with you.
And I've fallen in love with you.
And Jess says the same back that she wanted to say it first.
So it is very sweet to see that.
You know, Jaden Tanner had become friends of mine over the years and they fell in love on Bachelor in Paradise.
And it was always so sweet for me to know, like I didn't know them before I went to the wedding.
They kind of had to invite me, which I felt bad for them.
But I had so much fun once I was there and now I can sit it on my friends.
But it's nice to watch people have a love story that you can really get behind.
And that Bob is why I wanted to stay.
I'm not kidding.
I love, remember, I have kids that are just slightly older than these.
And so it was just, yes, it felt great.
Keith and I talked about that, how it felt great that they came to us for advice and asked us all the students.
That really felt great.
But just to watch love growing, it was just, I loved it.
It was so, so warm, it warmed my heart.
It was sweet.
And you could tell that the producers liked them too, right?
Because the producers were showing all of that for us.
Yeah.
I was going to say the only thing that would have warned my heart more is if, you know,
Mr. Wright sauntered in, rode in on a horse, swam up from the ocean.
Any of those would have been great.
Any one of those, I guess, right?
We still could have a James Bond moment where he's coming through the ocean,
the rolling waves.
Okay.
So we get back to the show.
Cast members are now talking strategy.
And I think Sean kind of almost forced everyone's hand on this because he was being so open about it that I feel like people were almost like, are we supposed to be doing this?
And I think I would feel that way too.
Like if I wasn't thinking that way and all of a sudden this one dude is, and I'm hearing my name in the mix, I'd probably be like, hey.
So we see a montage of the girls talking strategy.
And then, you know, of course, which we knew.
I knew it was going to come.
At least I thought that Andrew would tip off Spencer that Sean wants him and Jess out.
And because of the strongest couple, right?
And then Alicia walks in on Alex and Bailey, whispering about her and Sean.
And this really upsets her, right?
And so that kind of is the kickstart of that evening part of the show where the cocktail party starts.
Wells kind of recaps, you know, what's going on.
Obviously, he's very happy to get rid of four people because he's just sick of slinging so many cocktails.
I loved it when he said about Keith.
He's taking his twig and all the alcohol of the bar.
Let's get Gonzal out of here, man.
This dude's breaking my bar.
tab.
Keith, AKA Gonzo, may have been the guy to close the bar.
I'm just saying.
That's not a surprise to me.
I've hung out with that guy.
I get it.
Sean and Spencer.
So Sean Poole Spencer for a chat.
He basically realizes that he is made a miscalculation, right?
So he tells him about his parliament of paradise and how he thinks Spencer and just are his
main competition.
Wanted to be honest.
Spencer says he's going to make Sean feel comfortable and then he's going to slit his throat
in this game, which I thought was pretty good.
Parisa and Hannah,
Parisa tells Hannah
that if her and Brian
are pinned
against each other,
they'll just leave
Paradise together.
Which, you know,
I would hope
that would be the case
because even though,
you know,
I get it,
like Brian isn't
everybody's favorite
at this moment,
but I still feel like
they kind of have
something there.
You know,
they seem to have
something kind of special
and you would know
better than me,
obviously,
but, you know,
then Jeremy and Brian chat
with some mafia music going.
Yeah,
that was great editing.
The godfather.
The godfather.
He's like,
I'm afraid of it.
Yeah, he's definitely.
I'm waiting for the dead horse to show up in the bed.
Show up in the bed, yeah, exactly.
He swims with the fishers or whatever.
Jeremy says he'll forgive but not forget.
He recognizes it's good that Brian apologized.
And I think that's cool, too.
I mean, Brian was probably doing a little strategy as well in that moment,
but he did own it.
But, you know, it's also kind of one of those things, too,
where you got to wonder, like, I get, you know,
I get that Brian, you know,
maybe should have been a little more tactful
about how he approached that situation.
But if the dude really said that and, you know, wouldn't you want to know that if you
were the woman dating him?
Are we talking about what Brian told Bailey?
Yeah.
Oh, I'm with Wells on this 100%.
And it's going to cause me some, you know, some hate mail.
But I just, I'm with, I'm with Wells.
I'm with the team.
I'm with team Brian.
I think he was trying to do a favor for Bailey.
but I also think
Bailey as I said earlier
I don't think Bailey was really
interested in receiving
that information
yeah yeah she didn't seem to
I mean we saw that he said it last week's episode
you know I actually thought
Brian kind of redeemed himself a little bit
by doing what I thought was the right thing
especially given how you know
it played out for him earlier in the season
when when Preeza showed up and he was all of a sudden
kind of like the bad guy
but yeah I mean it's kind of
kind of interesting, you know, he told the truth and now he's apologizing for telling the
truth. So, you know, I don't know. I mean, at the end of the day...
I don't know. I'm going to chalk it up to being young and dumb. I don't know.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Well, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast. So we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That sounds totally inappropriate.
Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age.
It's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet.
So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend,
really cheated with his professor or not?

There's been a bombing at the T-Dub.
AWA terminal.
Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal glass.
The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene.
In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay.

Yeah, so Alicia's upset.
The conversations are happening behind her back.
She's really emotional about it.
Questioning her friendships.
Upset with Sean about not just relaxing on this whole thing and he didn't listen to her.
Tells him that people are questioning if Sean even cares about her.
And she informs Sean that Kat is not his friend.
So this becomes a thing now where Kat, you know, basically Kat,
Cat and Dale chat.
They seem to be in a really good spot.
We'd be my boyfriend.
He's saying, you know, yes, I love me some cat,
which I guess is a yes.
But he does say we are now,
I'm officially her boyfriend.
So he does say that to the camera.
Bob, I thought exactly the same thing.
I thought, well, you know,
as an English major,
he did not use say the word yes.
And then afterwards, he said,
but we're boyfriend and girlfriend.
I thought it was a very sweet moment.
I mean, I love me some pancakes,
but it doesn't mean I love, you know,
you know what I'm saying?
So, yeah, I agree with you.
So then, so Alicia finally pulls the women.
Yeah.
They sit down, her friend, the close friend group of hers, I should say.
And she basically confronts them about talking behind their back.
They say they weren't plotting.
They're worried about how Sean is acting.
I thought it was actually a pretty aboveboard conversation from what I could tell, right?
Alex wants the platonic couples to go.
Prysa says they're all on the same page.
Clearly, that's not how the vote went down.
But I think it was because Sean, again, still grinding, you know, just grind in the room.
I'm sitting here, you know, you know, when you go to the amusement park and you're hitting the ball and make the horse go up the thing.
I'm saying, in my head, I'm going, keep going to keep going, Sean, because my horse is just going right up.
Exactly.
You're like, dude, keep burying yourself.
I mean, I think if he would have stopped when Alicia told him to stop, there may have been a chance for redemption, right?
But then his ego gets in the way.
Yeah.
And he's like, kept, cat indicated that we're not, like, if anything, he should have kept his mouth shut till the end of the vote, you know, if nothing else.
But he goes, confronts her.
She, you know, basically is like, that's it.
I'm not going to be disrespectful anymore.
She gets up and goes to tell Dale.
Dale, I don't think most of the dudes there should be messing with Dale, right?
Dale's not happy.
I watch the workout.
Trust me.
You do not want him to Dale.
Yeah, he's a little bit of a beast.
And he gets up, he walks over.
He's like, you're done.
Stop.
You know, and basically, you know, I think that was pretty noble of him to do that and to go over there and say that, you know, and basically just tell him like, hey, dude, quit picking on my girlfriend.
Yeah, let me say, let me just say one thing about Dale.
He was, he and I had, he was the oldest of the young crowd.
Yeah.
And he was the oldest of the old crowd.
And he and I just forged a great friendship.
And I will say my feelings on Dale, I mean, not only is.
easy, easy on the eyes. But that guy has real leadership. He gives you that aura of,
I'm a leader. I'm thinking things through. And I really think the other young people really
listen to him. I really do think that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and it could be a nice redemption
for him, right? Because I mean, when he was, you know, Claire's choice on The Bachelorette,
he didn't look so great after when they were breaking up, right? That was kind of a rough time
for him publicly and so you know this could be this could be a different view of dale you know i mean
he might have just not handled that situation so well i don't know but you know um so anyway jesse
comes and says okay guys cocktail party's over it's time to cast the votes and i thought it was a weird
voting thing at first that you guys are passing around an ipad yeah and then and i was like man
that's got to be strange because i wonder if people can like see who the person voted for
previously but no huh okay you couldn't say we were sitting strategically so that you voted
and then you went up and handed just as the show showed you got up and handed the iPad to the next
to the next per yeah so you were told who to hand it to you like okay kathy you vote and you
handed to keith or whatever yes i knew i was handing it to and et cetera but we didn't to be clear
no one knew um so let me just say my feelings were her tonight when i saw a couple of those girls
voting against me yeah well
clearly you know what though and we all know how editing works you know that could have been
it couldn't even have been next week I mean I don't know if the iPad's back right I feel better
now thank you Bob yeah hey believe me when I was the bachelor I'm like he made out with 36 women
I'm like there's not even 36 women on the show and I was wearing different ties and everything
it wasn't the same rose ceremony night but you don't think about that stuff right so um so jess is
the first name it's called she of course gives her rose dispenser and as we mentioned says
I hope this is the last first date
that either of us ever have
then Alex of course gives her rose to Andrew
then Bailey gives her rose to Jeremy
no surprises so far right
Kat gives her rose to Dale
still no surprises
then Kathy gets the call
and you come up and you give
a rose to Keith and this is when people
start unraveling right
because in their minds
it was Kathy and Leah are going home tonight
because they're the platonic couples
And in fact, you know, Brian and Preeza clearly hadn't won over everyone the way that they thought they had.
Right.
But she's kind of all upset.
And then all of a sudden here comes the announcement of Alicia basically saying that she and Sean came to find love.
They found it.
They're out of here.
But Sean just still can't get out of his own way.
Can't keep his pie hole shut.
And he basically says, you just voted off the strongest couple.
And Dale, I love you.
but Cat, don't call me crying after this one ends,
which I thought, you know, I get it.
In his mind, he thought it was this great, you know,
walk-off thing.
But when you're saying that you're going to play this game with integrity and da-da-da,
you can't take pot shots on the way out the door.
Hold on.
I think Alicia is the one that said, we're leaving with integrity.
Yes, she did.
That would be the royal we.
I didn't hear it out of Shaw's.
The pejorative we,
Yes, of course, the Royal Lee.
She was speaking for both of them and couldn't, you know, once again, couldn't get him to listen to her wisdom because she, you know.
I just have to say one thing that when we were talking about who to vote off, because, you know, during the hotel party, it's really like, you know, speed dating, except you're voting, you know, it's talking about who you're voting off.
I kept saying to them, they were like, oh, I can't vote off.
Parisa.
She's my friend.
And I finally looked at them and said, hey, friend.
you are going to be voting off your friends this week next week.
Just newsflash, it's coming, and they looked at me.
They looked at me like, huh?
Yeah, well, I mean, there again, right, the voice of reason.
There again, it's like, guys, it doesn't matter whether it's this week or next week.
It's happening.
Because otherwise, what, are you going to vote yourself off?
No.
So at one point or another, you're voting one of your friends off of this show.
Right.
Right.
So good advice.
In the moment they don't, you know, no one wants to think about it from the
moment. They want a thing. Love will triumph all. There'll be 500,000 for every couple. We're all
going to walk away. Kumbaya, arm in arm. Nope, not happening. Nope. Trust me when I tell you,
the show ain't that generous. There's still, I'm still pretty convinced there's going to be
some type of loophole of this 500,000. I'm still not all the way there yet. So then, you know,
this is a tense moment. Dale takes one for the team, right, and decides he's going to break wind
to get everyone to laugh and then blames it on an old gonzo our boy gonzo's like i didn't what he said
i didn't do it to me fair to dale you know anything i mean it's a bodily function and and keith could
handle it you know it was a little white but but that was before the last rose right yes yes it was
the last rose was a big surprise wasn't it because you've still got another potential couple
that is technically a couple
and Leah gives her rose
to Julia gets the call which she's shocked by
and then gives her rose to Jonathan.
Now do you think there's any chance
that had Alicia and Sean
not walked off that they would have gotten a rose
because I know Jesse said they weren't getting the rose anyway
but I would say that too if I was hosting
even if it wasn't true. Do you think there was any chance
that they might have been safe and they just
Oh, Alicia and Sean.
Not a chance.
Okay.
That's my thought.
I don't know because I didn't see how people voted.
But I was not surprised when they went, you know, I was surprised that Alicia said we're going to self-eliminate, but I was not surprised that they, I don't think they would have gotten the rose.
As I said, I was surprised that I was still there because, remember, it's now down to the young people and one golden couple.
And yes, they love us, they want to spend time with us, they want our opinions, and they don't want us to win.
And that's, right?
Yeah.
So I was surprised, but what surprised me more was Jonathan when he, when, when Leia gets the rose and gives it to Jonathan, that he just straight up says, great, you know, let's go.
We got to start strategizing how we're going to win it.
It's like he is underscoring the fact that he has.
no romantic interest in Leah, zippity, you know, she lay a crying, she wants to be married,
she wants to- He did throw a lip-lock on her, though. He did throw a lip-lock. Who knows?
Fair enough. Who knows? But she sure spent a lot of time crying saying she wished she found her guy,
and Jonathan is busy talking about $500,000. And by the way, should Jonathan win $500,000?
You know he owes half of the two, don't you?
Well, I would say to you, by, uh, what's it, uh, April for keeping it around.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I would say half of it to you, too.
And then, of course, half the government.
So he'll, he'll be, uh, you know, he might make a couple, like $40,000.
You never know.
So the previews for next week, get interesting, right?
Oh, yeah.
You see people with fly swaters freaking out.
We know that this is cat's biggest fear.
Maybe they just think she's been too composed this whole time.
They want to see her go bonkers.
Spencer feels like he doesn't know he can trust.
And then we see Spencer and Jess talking about moving in.
And Jess is like, I don't know if we're on the same page with that.
And she seems all of a sudden, I mean, this week, I hope it's the last first date we ever have.
Next week, you know, I'm never, I don't think we're going to move in as yet.
It's like, oh, my gosh.
Well, I mean, to be fair, you can fall in love with someone, but that doesn't mean the next step, the very next step is, hey, you moving in?
I mean, we can have a few months in between, right?
So I think when you're young and paradise is a condensed romance venue, right?
So I'm guessing there's a little bit coming and going.
I'm in love.
Whoa, this is going fast.
Boy, I'm really in love.
Whoa, this is going on.
I'm going to pump the brakes.
I need to make sure this is real.
What are we like when the cameras are off?
I mean, that's how I felt when I was The Bachelor, to be honest.
I remember thinking, I was like, I mean, okay, yeah, but I'm not taking a helicopter into a volcano on a date in Detroit.
It just isn't happening, you know.
So this is where you actually say, which I love, you say, hey, you know what?
I know I'm on borrowed time now, right?
My time is coming.
I hope to win the challenge next week so I can stick around a little bit longer.
And then we see the armor crack on Keith in the previous.
And he's like, I'm really homesick.
I want to go home.
Yeah.
And he is such a dad, right?
He's such a girl dad.
And he loves being the girl dad.
And he's starting to miss his family.
And we have a lot of talks about that.
I mean, he genuinely is close with his daughters.
Yeah, he loves him to death.
Oh, my gosh.
And that's a wonderful trait about him.
Oh, heck, yeah.
I can only imagine, though, at this point, I mean, you're thinking, okay, we got to play smart.
We got to stick around.
And he's like, hey, I'm ready to go home.
I'm homesick.
So that's got to create an interesting conversation for next week, I would think.
I would think.
Yeah, well, you would know.
I'm excited to see it.
I would say that you're a smart man.
I don't know about that.
I just watch a lot of TV.
That's probably more it than anything.
But no, it was a great episode.
I feel like, and I hate to say it this way because it doesn't, it's not going to, it's not going to resonate or it's not going to ring true because I've loved all the episode so far.
This was my, the first episode that I felt sincerely invested in from a different place.
Like watching it, I got to watch it today earlier and man, I couldn't get enough of it.
You know, like I was like, what is going on?
It's like, this guy is.
going to just self-destruct.
He's just, oh, my God.
Like, I almost wanted to jump in there and smack him around a little bit and be like,
okay, first of all, let's get a little razor going, right?
Let's trim that down a little bit.
Secondly, you're not that savvy, bro.
People are watching you.
Like, they know what you're doing.
You know, I was worried about that.
I will say to you, I have been known to have an opinion or two about one or two things
in my life.
And I was really proud of myself that for the most part, I really tried to just lay low
and say, just speak the obvious, like, you will be voting against your friends.
Yeah.
Not.
And I don't think you need to lay off.
You're going at this a little too hard.
I think you're turning people against you.
I did say that to him.
Yeah.
Well, I think that was in the episode.
I think, if I'm not mistaken, at least I felt like it was.
But, yeah, I felt like you and Keith, the one scene in particular when she had already asked him to stop.
Yeah.
And he pulls the two of you over.
And it was almost like the two of you were looking at him like, oh, buddy.
It's almost like you were looking at someone who was like, no, I didn't have any drinks tonight.
And you're like, mm-hmm.
Okay, bud.
You know, and I was like watching you guys thinking, we see a line of empty glasses right behind you.
I think you have a drink.
And you're like, I doesn't have nothing to drink.
You're like, okay, all right, buddy.
But no, I thought I thought you guys, you know, really did kind of have that, that wisdom that someone like that kid needed to hear.
And who knows, you know, he might be.
watching that episode now and being like, man, I really miscalculated while I was doing there.
Or I feel like he also might have watched that episode and just doubled down.
Like, you know, these people don't know what they're doing.
You know, I don't know. I don't know the guy.
You do, but I don't know.
I could see it going either way, frankly.
I don't know.
That's the thing about being on the show and watching it back.
It's always like, oh, my God.
You have a whole different perspective when you're watching it back.
Well, you know, let me ask you this.
So in the show and now watching it back,
do you think Alicia and Sean will make it on the outside?
Like, do you think they walked off that show?
We came here to find love and we found it, we're out.
I mean, do you think they can keep it together?
I think they have a good shot.
They're both from Tampa.
So, you know, it's not like getting on an airplane
and flying to California from New York City every weekend.
Right, right.
They have a chance because they, upon leaving, they're going back to their lives and, hey, I'm free for dinner.
It's not a two-hour drive, you know?
Right.
So I think, yeah, the proximity maybe gives them a good chance.
And they look great together.
They do.
Well, I think she would look pretty great with anybody, actually.
And he's a pretty good looking guy too.
So, yeah.
Listen, I just sat there marveling at the handsome men and the beautiful.
young ladies on the show just they're all not only they're nice but they're beautiful so it just
yeah it's they're great people they're great couple this this cast golden's included all very
beautiful people and i think i think you're right i think it was one of those things like uh it was
definitely it seemed to me like one of those casts where you know wow i mean you know you you meet
these people and you just see the sparks and you're like of course you know look at these two
you know like i mean every single one of them you know looks like they're you know
coming off the cover of GQ together, so it's...
And I do think that people always like to question, oh, you know, it's a joke, it's
paradise, they're not together, or they're not good, this won't last.
I think sometimes magic happens in paradise.
I do too.
I mean, hey, there's, I think, I'm going to say this out loud, I think there are as many
marriages from paradise as there are from the regular season.
I think that's probably right.
I know there are.
Oh, I shouldn't say I know.
I'm more confident saying that there are as many marriages on Paradise than there are from The Bachelor.
Not sure about the Bachelorette and Bachelorette combined, though.
But I would say I'm probably right on that.
Heather, fact check.
But yeah, I would definitely think that there's something to it.
And it also could be that that is largely in part due to the fact that they've all kind of been through this process before.
And now you're on the other side of it and you're willing to kind of get.
give it another chance and maybe not be as attached to the outcome at the start and also having
eight people to look at instead of one and you're like, oh, well, that dude is definitely more my
speed than that guy or whatever, you know.
For me, it was a great thrill getting to hand out roses.
Yeah, it's fun, isn't it?
I won just to be able to hand out a rose.
Like, I won.
Yeah.
it's it's it is a uh an amazing place to be um it is an amazing uh it's just an amazing
situation to be and and i think bringing in the game people you're going to have people just
like love on one side money on the other side you're going to have people who love bringing in
the money and the gaming aspect and people who want to keep it purely love yeah i i got to be honest
I was torn at the beginning and I'm really happy about the money aspect now because I don't know why I find it more there's a little more like a little more cunning a little more you know strategy involved I guess in that regard but also because I like seeing the fact that we might see someone walk off this thing with money and you know who knows it could be it could be Jonathan you know it's the thing it's we're doubling down here you we could
see couples, a couple, two, three couples walk off in love. And we might see a totally different
couple walk off with $500,000. Which would be awesome. How is that for a teaser?
Oh my God. Four winners technically, right? That would be pretty amazing. So, well, Kathy, I love you,
my friend. Thank you for always making time for me. And thanks for coming on, almost famous to OGs
and giving us a firsthand recap of your, your most recent Bachelor in Paradise episode. You were
spectacular on the show. You and Gonzo also such a, such a cute, loving friendship. You know,
I like teasing you guys all the time, but I do love you both. And so glad that you guys found
each other in friendship. We love you too. And I, this was great. I thoroughly enjoyed doing
this. Give your gorgeous wife a hug for me. I will. I definitely will, Kathy. Thank you so much
again for joining us. And hopefully we get to do this again soon. I would love to any time.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, luckily, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend's been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That seems inappropriate.
Maybe. Find out how to end.

There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal.
just a chaotic, chaotic scene.
