This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHeart Radio. Welcome back to the Almost Famous Podcast. And it's Ben today, joined by some.
Starting point is 00:02:31 someone I love, we love here, and the almost famous crew, Diana Pappas is with us. Hello. Hi, Benjamin. You've been breaking down the entire season of the Netflix dating show, Let's Marry Harry. The explosive finale was last night, and today we're going to catch up with the woman Harry chose. And her connection to Bachelor Nation. It's Amber. Amber, before we dive into the show, and all the details of the show.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Deanna has been breaking down every episode of this show for the Almost Famous podcast since the beginning. So she's your expert on everything in your life. But I'm the expert on some Bachelor Nation connections that you have. I recently found out that you are Latia Gar, who we know from Grant's season of The Bachelor. You guys are cousins. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:31 We are. Ben, Heather and I saw her go to bat for Amber on social media. Well, good. That's what cousins are supposed to do. Absolutely. Did you tell Latia that you were going on the show before the season started? No. Well, I didn't apply for the show.
Starting point is 00:03:48 So when I was reached out to, I did tell her, like, I've gotten DM'd before about, like, a couple TV shows and things like that. And then this one specifically, I was actually living in. in Bali and I got this yeah this casting I don't even know what it's called just like reached out and I told her I was like hey these people who were making a TV show mentioned to me that they've experienced making TV shows like they've made The Bachelor and then she was like oh my gosh and asked who was like a part of it and she was like you should do it like that was the only conversation we had and then I was gone the next week so we never really like prepped for it or went location or the the
Starting point is 00:04:31 mind process of like you should go on TV. And I know she didn't ever plan in her life to going on TV either. So I think what people don't actually know, which is so crazy, is we both, she didn't even tell me she went on Bachelor. My mom told me she was on TV. And I was like, there's no way. There's no way, Latia. You know, because like we actually are like, I don't think would ever like put ourselves willingly in that. So she was a huge reason. why I actually did say yes because the people who made Bachelor are amazing. I love them and they were on
Starting point is 00:05:07 the show. So that's kind of how it like fell into place. That was the only process of me and her like discussing me going on TV and then I was literally gone the next like yeah week. I have to admit while I'm fan-girling over here. Amber
Starting point is 00:05:23 our producer Heather and I, we did follow the whole season. So I am very careful to switch from podcaster to just like fan You know what I mean? We really enjoyed the season. But I was telling Heather on a podcast that we just recorded on the last set of pictures that you posted from the reunion, I recognize the audio girl who's doing your mic. She worked on my season of The Bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:05:45 She's been on the show for years. Was it Christine? Yes. Oh, I love her. Yeah. There are so many amazing people that put these shows together and the environment's so important. and the people that, like, you even remember the mic girl, like, getting miced every morning is hard.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Like, you wake up and get a coffee, and then you get to know people. Like, it's such a cool experience. So, yeah, it's cool that she was like, you're in good hands. These people are amazing, you know? Well, and now you have two reality stars within the same family.
Starting point is 00:06:17 You are now one of the royal families in reality television. Last night was the big finale of, or the reunion, I guess. I'm shocked and in an awe of this whole show in general. Since the very beginning, really my biggest question for you, before I pass it off to the expert on the details, is when they called you, you had a week to decide. Was there ever a point that you were like, I could see myself marrying this hairy guy?
Starting point is 00:06:50 Did you know who he was? Or was it just, hey, let's give it a shot because the Bachelor crew is so great? It was honestly a big mix of a lot of things. And I had a lot of like personal signs for me to say yes to this opportunity. I am really cautious of my energy, which is why everyone's like throwing it in my face. Like you signed up for TV. You did this.
Starting point is 00:07:17 So it's hard to kind of really explain how this all happened. When, yeah, when I was reached out to, I think the prep of who I was becoming before this show came. to me was so personal. Like, I had gone through a breakup and I had moved to a third girl country and I was learning so much about myself. I was in like a very heavy like self-expansion era. So I got this call and I got the opportunity and I kind of just like wanted a sign for myself, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And I got some really cool personal signs. Some like, I feel like it's hard to kind of talk about. these types of like spiritual things in this environment because not a lot of people like I think can digest that which I've learned going on reality TV but I'm just going to keep it short and say I had a lot of really amazing signs to go like my life told me like this is a new timeline for you take a chance on it and everything that's transpired since saying yes to the show to now the reunion yeah it's um it was a big lesson for me I'm sorry it's really hard to talk about like this as you saw the reunion yesterday. But I know there's a reason this
Starting point is 00:08:36 all happened, you know. There's only so much I can say because I have to be quiet about certain things. But what I'm trying to say in my personal life is, yeah, I know that this was meant to happen to me for a reason, even though it looks really yucky now online. But there's only so much I can say. And that's the hard thing about TV. And that's the hard thing about other people involved. And that's why I got on that stage. And I was, yeah, it's, sometimes you have good times with things.
Starting point is 00:09:08 And sometimes things are really toxic and out of your control. But personally, I learned so much about myself. So saying yes to the show to ending it that way. I really don't regret anything. And if there was more I could say, I think a lot of people would understand more about how this all went down. But it's just, yeah, it's been a lot. On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinheiro, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months. I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them.
Starting point is 00:11:01 I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files. I just remember this low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming. They are abducted. stocked, controlled, and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them.
Starting point is 00:11:38 There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Our town is small taters by most standards, right? But to the people who grew up here, it's everything. What happens when a quiet Tennessee town becomes the front line in a battle over the future of America. Developers with right-wing ties have purchased hundreds of acres of land in the area.
Starting point is 00:12:07 The first thing you see when it pops up is pioneers in Appalachia. But they weren't just planning houses. We need cities on a shining hill that exemplify and embody the Christian way of life. Stop right there. Is that normal? A podcast about what happens when a small town becomes the site of a social experiment. God need men to rule. Great. And decides to fight back.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Do not use my hard work to sell your bull. They're not just opposing what's being planned for here. Our hometown is not a test tube. They feel like they're standing in opposition to an entire administration. Guess you didn't move in on a bunch of dumb hillbillies now, did you? Listen to Our Town on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Munga shit together and I'm back with a new season of the podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides.
Starting point is 00:13:03 organoids, blood boys, blue zones, and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain. Here are some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not have. expected to be almost a four to five year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble.
Starting point is 00:13:41 I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know, Amber, you're talking to two people who have been on reality TV, and so I want
Starting point is 00:14:07 you to know that you are in very good company of two people who, who have to be in very good company of two people who have have written these waves that you are writing right now. And one thing that I will say to you is that from the get of this show, our producer, Heather and I, we recognize your emotional maturity. And just to hear you say that, the spiritual journey that you're on, whatever comes out of this show, I thought you did a really great job with that. And whatever you learn about yourself and your intuition from this, there are always lessons to be learned. And I heard you say that you have no regrets and I watched the reunion last night. It was heated. There were some heated moments. I also know that you and Dinell went on Nick's podcast together. Yeah, we did. I'd love to know what
Starting point is 00:14:55 the status is with the two of you. Do you think that you'll ever be friends? I mean, yeah, I was uncomfortable having to do that podcast with her. Like, it wasn't my choice. I would have prefer to not do it. You know, we're very, very, very different girls. I think she's a really nice, sweet girl. And a lot of the audience is like she doesn't owe you anything. She's not your friend. She was actually like my roommate on the show.
Starting point is 00:15:22 We did the whole show all the way to the end. We held a lot of space and sympathy for each other, understanding that we would both, one of us would get hurt. What would happen? That's something that what isn't really told in a show. show, of course, they have to edit it up to be interesting and keep you on your toes. They're going to keep us as far apart looking wise to look like, you know, we offer very, very different things, but we are very different. I will say that. And learning about some of the things I learned after
Starting point is 00:15:55 the show, I just wish her the best. And I told her that at the podcast. But as you see, my energy is like, I don't play. Like, I don't like lies. I don't like sneaky. If something's weird, I'm going to ask you. I'm going to ask your friend. I'm going to ask everyone. That's just how I am.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And I don't really agree with the way she moved outside of the show. I got that last night on the reunion. I saw where you were at and your expectations of her. I saw that and I felt that with everything that you said. Yeah. Here's what I say. Sorry, it's hard to find my words. I obviously watched it last night.
Starting point is 00:16:33 I barely slept. But she was very, very highly aware that Harry that day got married to me. And she asked, are you marrying Amber? I don't know if he was honest, but the next day, she would have figured it out because there's a group chat of the girls. Everyone knows everything. She was aware of us being together. She was aware of me being in Australia with him.
Starting point is 00:17:02 And I know this because I'm friends with the girls on the show. I know about the insides of a group chat, even if I'm not in it. So she knew. You know what I mean? I do. I totally know what you mean. And I have a huge question for you. And this is something that's been weighing on me since seeing the finale last night.
Starting point is 00:17:17 There's a lot of talk of marriage, right? We saw the wedding play out on the finale. We saw you and Harry and the rest of the girls on the reunion last night in the talk about marriage and wedding and honeymoon. But the big question on social media, was that it was never legal. I'd love to know, I'd love to know your thoughts on that because you spoke very much in a fact,
Starting point is 00:17:42 matter of fact, that we were married, we got married, we went on a honeymoon. But as a viewer, I don't think that it was truly a legally binding contract. And Harry also said in an interview recently that papers were never filed, right? And so I think that's where I'm a little bit confused.
Starting point is 00:17:59 I think it does look confusing to an audience. to be honest, I was in an experience with Harry for six weeks, almost seven weeks. And the premise of the whole show was for him to find a wife and get married. And he explained his life story that that's what he was looking for. So and his grief, and that's what brought him and transpired him to this ultimate decision of finding a wife. In my book, that's pretty real. When you do a show, you have to protect the show, as everyone knows.
Starting point is 00:18:30 So if you put, we signed certificates upstairs, but if you put them into a legal system, they're public. So what we were told by Netflix when we were signing was once the show is out, you guys can put the paperwork and submit it in if you're still together by the reunion. So for us, we were signing papers. We had found each other. Our friends and family were there. I was in a wedding dress.
Starting point is 00:18:55 He said vows to me. He made promises to me. he treated me like his wife out when we were together outside of the show i would call that real but a lot of the internet likes to attack that your paper work wasn't real so sure i think you very much had a real relationship you know if the piece of paper wants to determine and kind of like overlook my whole process that's also a hard part because when the finale came out to the reunion i wasn't allowed to have a voice or speak up about that either my time i'm the one girl in the show that can't talk about anything till the reunion. The rest of the girls can. Their episodes are out. You know, there's no,
Starting point is 00:19:31 there's no hype over reunion. I can't. I was the only person that wasn't allowed to say anything, wasn't allowed to defend his choice as who he picked. I couldn't share what him, what I found out about him and Danelle. It's been a, it's been a wild ride. And I think Harry's really responsible for a lot of this. And I hate how the reunion really just showed me you know, like really angry at him. They actually edited around him quite a bit because he actually did have no talking points. Whenever I would say something, he would either just lie or dismiss me or laugh or go around it. They gave him a good edit is what I'm trying to say.
Starting point is 00:20:11 That's why it looks very confusing like I'm talking to myself and I look so stressed out. I would say something and he would dismiss it or laugh or be like, this is good TV. Like he was so incredibly rude. And I think any of the girls who were there who could honestly pipe in on this, which I hope they will, is he was being like, I don't even know you. You're on TV. You're going to edit it out of this anyways. Like he was laughing at Sam. There was only one moment where we hear him out loud say it to another female. And we touched on that and another podcast where he says, I don't know, you were barely even here. Don't say anything. That was the energy of him at the reunion. That's how he speaks to me. He's dismissive. That's how he speaks. to most of the girls. He's been clapping at them on videos on TikToks. And then he gets there and acts like corn me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:03 It's the most insane thing I've ever witnessed in real life. So I knew that I had to just say my piece was the only time I was going to get. Starting point is 00:24:59 all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you, and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain. Here's some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five-year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble.
Starting point is 00:25:27 I'd say probably start bone smashing. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I want to pivot to one thing that I would love clarity on that the show really didn't do
Starting point is 00:25:50 a service on touching on it. You let us know as viewers that you had receipts. You had receipts. You have proof on your phone. I'd love to see that proof, Amber. I would love to see that. There was discrepancy in. you said that you did not break up in Australia,
Starting point is 00:26:09 but Harry is saying that you did break up in Australia. And on the reunion, you said, I wish I could show my phone. I have the proof. Will you show us that? You know, there's so many mixed feelings about that because I am dealing with a professional. Harry knows how to twist and narrate.
Starting point is 00:26:27 The hard thing about all of this is he has, you know, I mean, there's actually nothing I'm scared of of him showing of me. I don't know why I would even be scared. I think it's just been so messy. And I've really just been trying to process this the last week since watching the finale to waiting for the reunion. That like causing more drama, I don't think I was like ever like, yes, I can't wait to leak this.
Starting point is 00:26:52 I don't think I ever thought that. I was always like when I get up the reunion, it's my only time I will be able to look at him in the eyes and say those things. because we can go back and forth on like videos on TikTok all day. But the reason I went in there is because he didn't make any time to talk to me. He hadn't spoken to me since February 1st when we're supposed to move in. Like he completely ghosted me, you know, and started a new life with a new girl while sliding Danelle in on a weekend. Like the man is crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:31 They showed us too on the reunion how he skirted over that. You talked about this house and moving in together, but it was all skirted over on the reunion. Can you tell me a little more about that? Yeah, we came back from Australia, and I didn't like the way I was treated there. And I'm really big on voicing that. But the thing is,
Starting point is 00:27:50 is like what people don't know, what they see about me on the reunion looking so aggressive to what I was in real life was in the car. I was like, well, if you have all these problems with me, then you're not forced to be with me. That was a conversation. So that did take place. But he didn't break up with me. He still, like, those were like things that I was very, very open about.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I was like, if you're not happy and you feel this way, then you're not forced to do anything, you know? But he said, no, I want to make this work. Like when he touched down in L.A., he was like, I want to make this work. he's like I'm overwhelmed I had a big journey I was like yeah this is a lot for both of us you can take a day and breathe if you need that was genuinely kind of the conversation
Starting point is 00:28:40 of course he's going to turn something little into big because he did something he wasn't meant to do which is hook up with Dinell but no there's all our text messages I wasn't under the understanding that he was we were broken up
Starting point is 00:28:57 he was touring house for us sending me videos. Like there's videos all over my, my texts of him being like, what about this house? What about this? Do you like this for the dogs? Like, we were completely together and planning a life together. I was blindsided when I found out a couple days ago on Snapchat that he had got Dinell and that Dinell actually went there with him, to be honest, too. I didn't think she would.
Starting point is 00:29:26 Yeah. They failed to tell me, they both failed to tell me. I found out on a Snapchat and it said like plot twist and it was them kissing. And that hurt because she had reached out to me since the finale and asked me like what I'm wearing on a podcast and we actually comforted each other. I said, I'm sorry. I'm sure the finale was really hard for you. And she didn't think that Snapchat would get leaked. She was blindsided by Harry too.
Starting point is 00:29:48 So she was going to put it under the rug and still speak to me as if nothing had happened and show up to the reunion and get her like composed edit. all while going behind my back and knowing all these things. And then to sit there and act like you don't know, that's what I went insane. I had been holding so much in for a year and then finding out so much more. You know, I'm always going to side with a girl. So I was like sad that me and Dinell both got hurt by Harry when the finale came out. We're like, I can't believe the show's out.
Starting point is 00:30:19 We're both not with them. But the difference is, is like, she did something that she didn't want to ever address. So I addressed her hard at that reunion because I knew if I didn't, it would all get swept under the rug. I so appreciate your honesty right now because that bit on the reunion was a little confusing. But now that you've laid out the timeline and why you were shocked and blindsided, I just appreciate your honesty and your willingness to clarify things for us and our listeners. And really just being here today, Amber, I know it's a lot. I know it is a flood of emotions and stuff,
Starting point is 00:30:59 and you've got to ride all the waves of grief, but I do have one final question for you. I know that you've got to go, and I just have one more thing that I'm wondering. There were some pictures floating around on the internet last week about you and a guy on a private jet. Your cousin, right? She said that you weren't dating him,
Starting point is 00:31:17 but what I'm dying to know, and when I'm sure our listeners want to know is if you're dating anyone right now.
