Starting point is 00:02:49 Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. Today, we are going to give you all the latest news in The Bachelor Universe in Head Radio. headlines. And because Ben is away on a business trip, not a fun trip. I have producer Heather joining me to chat all about them. Our first headline this week is all about Gary's book, which is, I don't know, it came out last week, right? Yeah. And the sale, I don't know what the sales are like because people don't seem to be very supportive of Gary. That's for sure. Um, the comments are not going in his favor on social media. And between, interviewing him and Teresa both
Starting point is 00:03:31 I just don't know what's the truth okay and then there's she was on Dear Shandy that podcast this week too so she's telling her side there listen to both interviews come to the deduction yourself
Starting point is 00:03:47 I think to be fair Teresa should probably come to our podcast I know that she's going to be on the finale of Golden Bachelor and I'm wondering if she's going to have a little moment to say her piece on that stage. Because why have her just sit in the audience? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:04:05 It's a wasted opportunity if you ask me. Anyway, the first headline has to do with Gary's relationship with his ex runner-up, Leslie, because he has a whole chapter on her in his book as well. So Leslie was asked, have I read the book. I have not read it. I have read excerpts from it. I don't know if I want to read it. She says, I have read the chapter about me.
Starting point is 00:04:30 He actually sent me that chapter a long time ago. He just wanted to get my okay on it. And I thought that was very respectful. I read it. And to be honest, he has nothing to say bad about me. When that is fantastic, I think the red flag that waves here is that Gary was like respectful enough to say, Hey, Leslie, I would love for you to read the chapter about you, which is really nice. But he did not respect his ex-wife in a similar way because he said, I don't really care if she's offended by the book.
Starting point is 00:05:06 She should be scared to read it. It's just a totally different human. Totally different. And can I just say as somebody who did have a copy of the book, if he wanted to send it to Teresa in advance, he would have had to send her the entire manuscript because she mentioned throughout the entire book. Um, yeah, what I remember him saying about Leslie specifically in the book was basically that he ultimately made his decision when they went to fantasy suites and he really couldn't get past the fact that she'd already been divorced a couple of times. He wasn't being judgmental of that. He just felt like she wasn't ready to get married again and he wanted that. And so that he says in the book is like one of his ultimate kind of deciding factors. interesting. She also comments on the fight that's going on. She said, I told Teresa this. I will support my
Starting point is 00:06:07 friend. I adore her. I love her. But this is not my fight. I don't know if, you know, they're in a fight. They're in a fight. She goes, I don't want to be cold. It's just not my thing. I will support her. I will listen to her and I'll give her advice. I want to be sort of like Switzerland in this. And then Teresa, her big like quote on the dear shandy podcast is that she says to gary through that podcast you did me no favors by marrying a woman that you did not want to marry you should have called off the wedding no matter that we were on tv it didn't matter this is this was our lives um that is kind of what i insinuated to gary on the podcast i was like did you guys talk about how you had cold feet and he said they kind of did,
Starting point is 00:06:58 but they just went with it anyway. It takes two to tango. She could have called it off as well. I'm not here being a Gary supporter, people. Stop. Definitely not. Not interested in either of them and how they are handling. I am also remaining Switzerland in this, I think,
Starting point is 00:07:17 because the truth is always somewhere in between. Isn't that usually right? um however can never condone what i know that they they talked about on headlines last week which was gary saying that he's going to chop her up and put her dead body in the shed you know um i really tried to to mold this over i was like would jared ever say if jared and i ever said that to each other would it be taken as a joke um i'm going to kill Maybe if it was simply, I'm over analyzing, maybe right now. But actually, I don't think I'm over analyzing.
Starting point is 00:07:58 I think if you go, I'm going to put your dead body in there. That is one thing. It definitely wouldn't naturally come out of either of our mouths. It's just like not funny. But I think it's the details. The fact that he said he was going to kill her and chop her up. The chop her up part is really effing weird. The whole thing is weird.
Starting point is 00:08:20 And I think we can all agree. that it's two people who were not a match who did not speak the same kind of language in that sense of love language, what they wanted, whatever it was. I don't know if they got hooked by the Bachelor bubble. It sounds like from what Gary told you and Ben, he really was determined to leave that experience with a wife. He didn't understand like possibly leaving it solo. I have my own theories about why that is. But it just, they were not a match. They should not have done this. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Final comment on this. Why did we have to get that quote after he was done with his press store? I would have loved to ask him about that one. Of course we would have loved him to ask him about that. He has been completely silent, obviously. Yeah, ever since that PR team was like, we're wrapping this up. He did his interviews all back to back to back. and then he was like, peace, going back to my retirement mode or planning his wedding or whatever
Starting point is 00:09:25 he's doing. But he is literally not going to respond to this. If he does, it's going to be like years from now or something, I think. But we're not going to hear from Gary for a while. He's never going to show his face in public again. We often think we know our type and dating. funny, a certain job, but the research shows we're usually not the best predictors of who will actually make us the happiest. As we often say on the Happiness Lab, our minds lie to us about all kinds of stuff, and that definitely includes the kinds of things we need to be happy in a relationship. That's why it helps to stay curious. On Bumble, features like shared
Starting point is 00:10:10 interests and prompts make it easy to notice right on someone's profile initial sparks of compatibility, like a shared love of cooking, or the same nostalgic TV shows. Shared interests and prompts let you showcase your personality right on your profile and connect with people who get your vibe. And with photo and ID verification, you can feel confident the person you're talking to is real, so you can date with a bit more confidence. When you treat dating as exploration, instead of sticking to a rigid type, you open yourself up to happier, more meaningful connections. So maybe your type isn't tall, dark, and mysterious. Maybe it's Love's podcast as much as you do. Stay open, stay curious, and let yourself be surprised.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Download Bumble today. On the podcast Health Stuff, we are tackling all the health questions that keep you up at night. Yes, I'm Dr. Priyanka Wally, a double board certified physician. And I'm Hurricane Dibolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled, Do I have scurvy at 3 a.m? On Health Stuff, we're talking about health in a different way. It's not only about what we can do to improve our health, but also what our health says about us and the way we're,
Starting point is 00:11:18 living. Like our episode where we look at diabetes. In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic. How preventable is type 2? Extremely. Or our in-depth analysis of how incredible mangoes are. Oh, it's hard to explain to the rest of the world that you, like, your mangoes are fine because mangoes are incredible, but like, you don't even know. You don't know. You don't know. It's going to be a fun ride. So tune in. Listen to Health Stuff on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And she said, Johnny, the kids didn't come home last night.
Starting point is 00:11:59 Along the Central Texas Plains, teens are dying. Suicides that don't make sense. Strange accidents and brutal murders. In what seems to be, a plot ripped straight out of Breaking Bad. drugs, alcohol, trafficking of people. There are people out there that absolutely know what happened. Listen to Paper Ghosts, the Texas Teen Murders, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:12:31 What do you get when you mix 1950s Hollywood, a Cuban musician with a dream, and one of the most iconic sitcoms of all time? You get Desi Arnest, a trailblazer, a businessman, a husband, and maybe most importantly, the first Latino to break prime time, wide open. I'm Wilmer Valderama, and yes, I grew up watching him, probably just like you and millions of others. But for me, I saw myself in his story. From plening canary cages to this night here in New York, it's a long ways. On the podcast starring Desi Arnaz and Wilmer Valderrama, I'll take you in a journey to Desi's life, the moments it has overlapped
Starting point is 00:13:05 with mine, how he redefined American television and what that meant for all of us watching from the sidelines, waiting for a face like hours on screen. This is the story of how one and spotlight lit the path for so many others and how we carry his legacy today. Listen to starring Desi Arnaz and Wilmer Valderrama. That's part of the MyCultura podcast network available on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Robert Smith. This is Jacob Goldstein.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And we used to host a show called Planet Money. And now we're back making this new podcast called Business History about the best ideas and people and businesses in history. And some of the worst. people, horrible ideas, and destructive companies in the history of business. Having a genius idea without a need for it is nothing. It's like not having it at all. It's a very simple, elegant lesson. Make something people want. First episode, how Southwest Airlines use cheap seats and free whiskey to fight its way into the airline business.
Starting point is 00:14:07 The most Texas story ever. There's a lot of mavericks in that story. We're going to have mavericks on the show. We're going to have plenty of robber barons. So many robber barons. And you know what? They're not all bad. And we'll talk about some of the classic great moments of famous business geniuses, along with some of the darker moments that often get overlooked. Like Thomas Edison and the electric chair. Listen to business history on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Congratulations! You finally dump that dude. Now you're ready to listen to I-Doo Part 2. Listen to I-do Part 2 on the I-Hard Radio. Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Former Bachelorette, Ali Fedatowski, is responding to criticism that she's too thin. Somebody said, who knows if this is really a big deal? We don't know how many messages Ali gets like this.
Starting point is 00:15:05 She said, girl, my body is amazing, just like yours, because somebody said, you're too thin. My weight is always fluctuating as well as my body. bloat and how my clothes fit and all of that and it's fine i'm fine i try not to think too much about my size if anything i mostly just focused on how i feel and lately more than ever i've noticed that when i eat poor i feel bad and when i eat better i feel better and that is truly what i'm focused on at this point in my life she then showed like her jiggly belly buttoned up in jeans and she said this is my belly and all of its jiggly cuteness uh i understand the jiggly belly as a mom like it's like when I stand up my stomach's pretty flat looks good and it's like
Starting point is 00:15:51 the second I sit down it just like folds over and I have gotten plenty of things that have helped it out thermage amazing M-sculpt amazing but your stomach will never go back to how it was pre-kids unless you actually go under the knife I will say those two treatments that I got highly highly recommend if you just feel like you need a little tightening that's non-invasive Um, already. Well, uh, that's kind of my, my thoughts on the, I don't really have any thoughts on this. It's like people ask me all the time. Everybody's different. That's what it is. It's like everybody is different. But it's almost 2026. And all I'm going to say is, why are we ever leaving comments about somebody's body on the internet that we don't know? It's insane. Just stop, people. Just stop doing that. Yeah. I, she must have gotten enough.
Starting point is 00:16:45 to say something. I mean, or they caught her on a bad day. And she was just like, you know, I can't take this anymore. It's like we don't know what people are going through. And the last thing we should be doing is writing a comment to a stranger talking about their body. Like, it's just people, be nice. Yeah. Also, this person that said you're so thin, she said she may be showing off.
Starting point is 00:17:13 So that makes it a little bit sassy. you're rude just you know you never know what somebody's going through and she yes is a public figure but it doesn't mean she's a public target and I just wish that people would be more mindful about the things that they type and they write because they're just as harmful as things that can be said and if you're about to write a nasty comment really think hard and true if you would actually say that out loud to the person if they were standing right in front of you because the answer is most likely you wouldn't yeah so true our next headline is totally cringe and i'm just going to say it we're going to be honest about this one wait i thought
Starting point is 00:17:57 exactly the same thing by the way right i was like this is weird i may have shared this to a person or too and been like eh i'm sorry okay uh yeah jason tartick says that he ran into taylor swift and travis kelsey on their new york city date he uses the caption i just met taylor swift
Starting point is 00:18:23 as the cover to his real and it's obviously clickbait so then he goes on by saying well actually i didn't meet her but she was sitting at the table right here in the booth next to me and she was like was there in the booth next to me for two hours and there's like less than 85 people in this
Starting point is 00:18:42 room he's trying to describe like how intimate the setting is and he goes I was so closer you know like this far he like shows it was unbelievable first and foremost what I thought was cool was the privacy in the room there's no pictures and nobody went up to that table and it was a little disheartening it kind of made me curious knowing that the privacy that they had in this room but the second that they walked out of the club or the restaurant or whatever there was going to be paparazzi like he felt bad that they were going to have to go endure the paparazzi after this this dinner okay um and then he goes but like the total two hours i was just taking it in her electricity her glow her light in the room you just can't stop looking at her she had on the iconic red lipstick and she had the watch and the new ring absolutely blinging it's just like oh Jason, Lord. You know how much cooler you would have been if you didn't share all this?
Starting point is 00:19:40 If you just like randomly on your podcast were like, I actually sat next to Taylor Swift one time at dinner. She seemed very nice. She had like a beautiful aura. That would be cool. That's cool. You know what's not cool? Posting that you sat at an exclusive restaurant
Starting point is 00:19:56 with 85 other people in the room. It was just like, oh, I can't believe this. Then he said she was just like so humble and real and down to earth and so pure. There was just like some light. It's like, it's giving it. It really, really is the whole like reading it. Like I just read it.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I didn't even watch the whole video. Oh, my God. The video came up on my feed and I definitely scrolled through it quick because sorry, I'm not so I don't care. But like when I, then I saw this and I was reading it, I was like, this is embarrassing. this is like I'm sorry like I live in Los Angeles right so I hear these kinds of things from like regular people oh I'm friends with so and so oh how do you know them oh I met them one time at a meeting or it's it's just like it's over bored on the actual thing and it's like to me now all I can see is Jason Tardick sitting at a table staring at Taylor Swift like that is all I imagine him doing throughout his entire dinner see this whole real to me screams a lack of privacy like he's concerned about how she's going to step outside and like her privacy is going to be gone because of the paparazzi but i'm like you
Starting point is 00:21:15 talking about her sitting there feels like a lack you're being you bring up a very good point that's a very good point to make yeah it's just like ick i would have again i would have been like you and thought it was like so much cooler if like not even on his own podcast say he's on somebody else's podcast and she comes up in conversation and he's like you know what I actually saw them having dinner once and I could feel the love between them you know they look so in love it was amazing I can see why people like are rooting for them that's it Jason that's all you need to say something like that absolutely okay it gets worse though Heather I'm sorry I'm like this is a little bit of a rose of Jason Tartick and I do believe that this may have needed to be okay so he says
Starting point is 00:22:02 says he feels bad because she's going to go and meet the paparazzi. She's going to be faced with the paparazzi, right? And then he says, I don't respect what the paparazzi does. And I'm like, sir, I know that you like your photo taken by the paparazzi. Okay. And then for somebody that he doesn't respect their job, right? And he goes out and he interviews a paparazzi. In this reel, he has clips of him interviewing a paparazzi asking how much the photos of Taylor Swift are going to
Starting point is 00:22:32 to go for. No. Yeah. No. And I understand that this is Jason trying to bring like his business component into totally, his brand is all about that. Hey, guess what? I'm okay with this.
Starting point is 00:22:48 You, one, don't say that you disrespect them because that just doesn't seem genuine. You can say like, hey, I happen to be outside of a restaurant that Taylor Swift is eating at tonight. I, um, I'm, I'm, I wanted to talk to a paparazzi to see like how lucrative this business is. And then he did a little Q&A with them. That would have been fine. That would not have been as cringy to me. It was the fact that like he just overly compliments her, makes her seem like an actual like I like I don't, of course she's an icon in pop culture history. But I mean like she make, she's making her seem like like an idol, like a religious idol. And then he goes and does this all together. It's just.
Starting point is 00:23:30 yucky. It's cringe, Jason. Don't do it again. Oh, man. I'm so sorry. I think that I'm sorry. I mean, I'm a little sorry, but I'm not really sorry. I just usually not that harsh on people. I just found that this was like a little bit. It just felt. It is. It's exactly what you said at the beginning. It's clickbaiting. It doesn't feel genuine. It's like if we knew him to be like a gigantic tick Swifty. Well, that's his whole thing. He's trying to lean into being a Swifty right now. Like, he just makes it seem like he became a huge Shilier Swifty like two or three months ago. And he keeps doing reels on her
Starting point is 00:24:06 because I think that he knows that they do well. And of course, I'm not shaming that. I do reels that I think will do well, too. That is part of our business. I think that there is just something about this one. Yeah. Okay, friends, real talk. You are worth the wait. We've all been there, giving our energy to connections that didn't honor ours, and watching friends do the same. And honestly, we all deserve better. That's why Bumble is built for intentional dating. Safety is such a big deal for us all, especially when meeting new people. And Bumble gives you the peace of mind with options like photo and ID verification. That little extra step means you know the person you're talking to is who they say they are, with their real photos, and they are ready to show up authentically.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And once you feel safe, you can actually focus on what matters, finding someone who gets you. With shared interests, it's easy to see right away who vibes with your passions, whether that's true crime podcasts, yoga mornings, or weekend hikes. So take a pause,
Starting point is 00:25:15 affirm your worth, and protect your peace. Bumble helps you create safe, meaningful connections, the kind that truly respect your boundaries, your energy, and your time. Thinking about dating again, Take this as your sign. Start your love story on Bumble.

We will move on to his ex, Caitlin Bristow, who is going to return to Dancing with the Stars for the
Starting point is 00:29:23 20th anniversary. She and Joey are both going to go hit the stage. It's going to be called a relay dance round. And former mirrorball champions are going to get paired up and they're going to dance with current competitors. Joey is going to get paired up with Alex Earl, who's currently on the show. And Caitlin is with, oh my gosh, what's his name? Andy Richter. Oh my gosh. Yes, that's right. Okay. I was sorry. I was just she's going to be paired with Andy Richter who is like a dark horse in this whole season like everybody's obsessed with the fact that like he's gotten this far nobody's really sure is he good though because I was I was actually on a here's my name drop moment I was on stars on Mars with Andy Richter and he and I almost died together we were on a private plane we were on a private plane in the middle of effing nowhere Australia you guys I did not see a house on the ground for two like an hour and a half in the air and there's the this guy is putting our luggage in the back of I'm already very scared that it's a private plane and he's putting his
Starting point is 00:30:37 our luggage in the back of a private plane a four-seater a four-seater not a luxie four-seater what was very scary about this private plane ride was that there was no co-pilot okay so I think I was with Andy Richter at a time that possibly we could have died because nobody would have been able to fly the plane if this guy had a heart attack. Maybe Andy Richter knows how to fly a plane. Maybe he does. But anyway, Caitlin will be dancing with him as part of this. And I know that she's rehearsing with Sasha, which is Jen's X. So much Bachelor, so many Bachelor connections in ties.
Starting point is 00:31:18 A lot, a lot. I'm excited, though, because, you know, Caitlin is. obviously a phenomenal dancer. Joey crushed it last season. And Joey's also doing the Dancing with the Stars podcast. And, you know, this season just seems to be really, really crushing it with the audience. People are loving it.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Yeah. People are obsessed this season. I have never gotten into dancing with the stars. And I feel bad because I've had friends on it. I just am like, yeah, guys, I watch your dance and then I basically turn it off. I will say this season, the dancing of the stars has really, like leveled up like Alex Earle's fantastic Whitney from you know Secret Lives is fantastic
Starting point is 00:31:58 but usually we get more Andy Richters we get these people that have a background and so I think that's what's kind of setting him apart this season and what people are rooting for is like his level of dance was not on that level and it is increasing as the way by but yeah people that's how the show used to be we used to have like 10 Andy Richters and maybe
Starting point is 00:32:23 one kid so you know yeah it was like the first round of american idol auditions exactly yeah and then they get old to those auditions our final headline of the week is is ari liondyke documents his last car race so as you guys know ari and lauren had their fourth child this year a baby girl, Livy. And just recently, Ari decided that it was time to end his love for racing. He said, this weekend,
Starting point is 00:32:58 I drove to Vegas for my last sprint car race. After going back and forth, I just knew in my heart that pursuing my goal of winning races was just going to be a huge commitment. And I was like, interesting. So it was a huge love of a goal, big commitment, but he doesn't want to take it on
Starting point is 00:33:14 because he says that putting everything on the line for these last few tents wasn't something that I could do in that car and I was like okay I don't understand what the heck that means I was just thinking about the Brad Pitt movie it was good really I'd like that movie F1 F1 I learned things from that movie and I was trying to use that education here
Starting point is 00:33:38 but Ari went on to describe a little bit more he actually says it's hard to describe when someone has an actually different one but you're holding on to a 1,000 horsepower rocket and the risk is huge if something breaks or a pass doesn't go as planned and you end up in the wall. I'm just in a different place in life right now and that's not a bad thing. So I totally understand. He's basically just not risking his. He's deciding to not risk his life anymore because he has four kids. I'm curious. Was there anything that you or Jared gave up when
Starting point is 00:34:12 you guys started having kids like or anything that you've, I don't know, like some people people are interested in like going skydiving, but then the second they have kids, they're like, I'm going to rethink that skydiving thing. Yeah, we're not really risk takers, like physically. So not really. I think that like both of us would, we both probably would go skydiving, but we probably both won't now. Kind of like that. I wouldn't say that we really gave up anything. I wish I could have a better, more interesting answer for you. I totally understand. Jared wants to ride a motorcycle. He's always wanted to be Tom Cruise on a motorcycle. And I've always said, no, you're not allowed to do that. And he especially is not allowed to do that now because my dad, as a doctor, calls them suicides. I was going to ask you if you grew up in a house like mine where my mom told me growing up, if I ever catch you on the back of a motorcycle, you were going to be in so much trouble. And then a sister ended up marrying her husband, had a motorcycle. And then as soon as they had a child, the motorcycle was sold. Really? Okay. Good. Good. Sorry to everybody out there. I'm just apologizing a lot for just being honest today.
Starting point is 00:35:29 No, I mean, if you want to ride a motor, it's fine, but like, they're freaking dangerous. All righty.
