Listen to the new season of the Overcombered podcast on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHart Radio. All right, almost famous to OGs. It's the OGs. You guys are automatically OGs. Isn't that nice?
Starting point is 00:02:51 Olden Goldies. The original, you know, we say we're the, yeah, you're the original Goldens. There you go. The original Goldies. It made that up as you wet. I love it. No, not Olden. No, not Olden. Original.
Starting point is 00:03:05 It's original. Yes. You're OGs. Now, unfortunately, Trista's not here with us today, but you all know my co-host, Trista. She's the best. So she's not able to be here. But we haven't been together. So Susan and Kathy, we haven't been together since our last time here in San Fran.
Starting point is 00:03:25 And it's my first time getting to hang with Nancy. Yes, thank you. You're welcome. She's one of them. us. I know, I can tell. I love having you here. It's like sisters. I know. You guys are amazing. I love the, you like the three amigos up there. That's fantastic. Or good news, we're bad news. In Español. Trace amigos. Thanks. Grasias de nada. De Nada. De Nada. I was watching. We booked another trip. We're going back to St. Martin. Last year we were in St. Martin.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Very nice. I love St. Martin. You guys had a good time. I think you got proposed to a couple times, didn't you? Isn't that when somebody told me? No, that was somebody else. Oh, okay. I don't know. Really? Really? I think I'd still be sitting here. You know what? You say that, but I have a feeling you are more selective than
Starting point is 00:04:12 the majority of the people. I'm being surprised. I have standards. Do you? Well, you know what they always say about standards? I have standards. If your standards are too high, lower them. Totally kidding, by the way. That's what my wife did. No, I'm just saying. Oh, do you get the less standards? Oh, come on.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Hold on, hold on. He's not the case for me. You cannot say. We're teasing. Do you know what he said? Your wife did not lower her standards. Oh, thanks, cats. You are a prince.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I was just teasing. You're a prince. She should be pinching herself. I would date your dad. Oh, yeah. I'm sure she does. She always said, my wife loves to say to people, like when they'll ask for pictures and stuff and they'll go, oh, he's so funny.
Starting point is 00:04:50 And she'll say, yeah, live with it. Just live with it. She's got a good point. I have a question. Does anybody say that about you? I have a question. How long have you been married? We have been married since 2016, so seven years.
Starting point is 00:05:02 But we've been together 10. Okay, so you're 10. How good are you at math? Incredibly talented at the mathematics. Nancy, how many years were you married? 24. I was married 46. Yep.
Starting point is 00:05:14 I haven't stopped counting. It always feels like, I don't know. So that's 90 years. Here's 90 years of marital experience coming to me right now. We know it all. You do know it all. Can we change the subject? Because I wasn't a great success.
Starting point is 00:05:28 mine. Well, you know, so when I went on, so I was on Trista's season of the Bachelorette before they made me The Bachelor, and I will say I still have some of the greatest friendships of my life that I made from my time on The Bachelorette. And I love to see the three of you together from the Golden Bachelor. You know, obviously, unfortunately, that relationship didn't see, you know, the light of day for too long. When we, when we had heard the news about the two of them splitting up, and I remember saying, gosh, you know, the reasoning behind it, what, the public reasoning behind it, which I'm, you know, I know you guys probably know way more than I do.
Starting point is 00:06:02 But I remember thinking at the time, I was like, when you have grandkids, of course you're not going to uproot yourself and move across the country for some dude or some lady, you know. I got to disagree with you. You would have, huh? The right guy. Yeah, for the right guy. You're right. Because I know somebody's going to pick a sound bite out of this.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Sure. If I'm at the right guy, I would have my home, his home. I would go. and then our home, right? I'm saying, and I agree with that. I would be, that's what airplanes are made for. I would go and visit my kids every couple of weeks, my grandkids, but I would make a home with my husband.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Sure. I would have done that. Honestly, that's exactly what I said when we talked about this one time before. I had said that at the time, I was like, God, I would think, why can't you stay where you're at and then, you know, maybe a week on, a week together, you know, and you find a place that's a happy medium. If it's meant to be and you're meant to be together, that can be worked out. You always can work it out.
Starting point is 00:07:01 And I think, to your point, exactly. Yep. Yeah. And I just wish that would have happened. I do too. But it's hard to work out if someone's working full time and isn't ready to move. Am I right? Well, maybe throw in the public eye, you know, there is, when there's scrutiny on you.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Yeah, sure. You know, I remember, you know, even, yeah, when I was The Bachelor, I remember going into, you know, Kroger and seeing my name on a cover. with a rumor and I'm like what the hell's going on you know I didn't do that everything is like you know everything is like you know trying to crack the code so I get it that puts added pressure on it too you know and so we have the benefit from you know coming off of that show and I think of myself that way coming off of Trista season like you were the bats. Oh I had so much fun I had so much fun yeah well I had so much fun with the friends I made off the off of Trista season because I think it also starts at the top and I and I do think that that Gary did a good job of this too where it was
Starting point is 00:07:56 you know he he wanted everyone to be friends too you know just like trista did just like i did on my season i didn't promote the back i didn't promote the badgering and stuff i promoted the kumbaya let's just tea right yeah yeah but we were big kumbaya you guys are big kumbaya because you're all still kumbaya we are we are that's a word is that a verb kumbaya i believe it is a verb kumbaya meaning to kumbaya yes there you got into kumbya yes i was that girl scout huh was that girl she did i wasn't i sold the most cookies of anybody in my troop. You guys were all girl scouts? I dropped out.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I was only a brownie. I never made it. My mother was the Girl Scout leader and she made me do it. Of course she was. See? I love it. I'm a thin mint. I'm a thin mint guy.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Were you a Boy Scout? I was actually almost the youngest Eagle Scout in the stage. Wait, my son was an Eagle Scout. That's a big deal. Wait, were you an Eagle Scout? I did not finish him. My son was an Eagle Scout. It is a
Starting point is 00:08:56 It's a huge accomplishment For anybody who's out there listening If you are a Boy Scout Become an Eagle Scout College just love it Yeah they really do It's great on your resume I actually
Starting point is 00:09:06 So I'm getting my 5 year old Into Cub Scouts right now Yeah Oh good Yeah we're starting this fall You know what you learn so much Oh heck yeah I mean it should be
Starting point is 00:09:16 Do you like to camp? I am going to have to remember how to do it I haven't done it a lot of time camping or snake Yeah I'm not a big snake guy either My idea of camping is no phone in the room No phone in the room Right
Starting point is 00:09:30 But still on a TV No you don't care No Yeah That's good That's how my family got started camping Seriously my oldest son Was a Cub Scout
Starting point is 00:09:40 And my husband was a den leader And we as a family Went camping And I'd never camp Oh you have to do it a lot Yeah And now I love to camp Do you really?
Starting point is 00:09:53 Oh yeah Do you still do it? You're a girl. I have my own tent. Call us when you're done. I'm not doing that. Yeah, we'll send a car. Susan, it's not my thing.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Wait a minute. We don't. They have massages. They have snakes. You know what? Snakes and spiders, man. I can do without those. I am done.
Starting point is 00:10:13 You know what? The rule number one when you go camping, zip it. No. Well, in this case, it's zip your tent. We're speaking of tents. Yeah. Just keep. it zipped when you're out of the tent keep it zipped and it's no problem my boyfriend's professor
Starting point is 00:10:35 is way too friendly and now i'm seriously suspicious oh wait a minute sam maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit well dakota it's back to school week on the okay story time podcast so we'll find out soon this person writes my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot he doesn't think it's a problem but i don't trust her now he's insisting we get to know each other but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age.
Starting point is 00:11:04 And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Eumanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips.
Starting point is 00:11:27 And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psycho babble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app.

Terrible love advice. Evil spells to cast on your ex. No, no, no, no, we're not doing that this season. Oh, well, this season, we're leveling up.

Our new Super Secret Bestie is The Deepa of the People. The Deep of the People. I'm just like text your ex. My theory is that if you need to figure out that the stove is hot, go and touch it.

Starting point is 00:12:44 Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club as a part of the Micro Tura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. hey sis what if i could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance bro tell you how to manage your money again welcome to brown ambition this is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards if you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards you may just recreate the same problem a year from now when you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates i would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan starting with your local credit union shopping around online looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt and it weighs on you.
Starting point is 00:13:37 It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it. And in fact, it may get even worse. For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last time I went camping, my wife and I went camping with some friends, and they actually, you talk about how far camping has come. Like we had a blow-up movie theater going. We had, we made homemade donuts. Yes. Yeah, there you go.
Starting point is 00:15:13 That's even a better way to go. That is not camping. To me, it is. Yeah. I mean, I like showers. yes make sure listen here's your primer if you go camping wear flip-flops in the shower because you don't want to foot fungus this is good to know good to know
Starting point is 00:15:30 bring fire starters yep bring lots of warm clothes because it gets cold at night any bears hang here's you should say that hang your food hang your food from a tree yes um there's all kinds of things that you learn People can learn so much here at the Almost Famous OG podcast. We don't know how to camp. Who knew? Who knew?
Starting point is 00:15:55 The other thing I would say is don't eat a lot of fiber at the day before you go camping. Why? Yeah, you know the whole thing about a bear shit in the woods, right? Well, he benched at Amy's. Every time he comes. She goes out of my bathroom. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:16:12 You guys are podcast machines now, aren't you? I'm not. They are. She's been on, though. I've been on their podcast, but yeah, they run the show. Oh, my gosh. Podcasting is fun. You know what?
Starting point is 00:16:25 People write in and tell you things that you never, ever thought you would hear. Yeah. They want our opinions. The one we. Sure. Sometimes we look at it. We don't agree every time, but we'll look at each other. Good luck.
Starting point is 00:16:39 But do you think I have a question. Well, I have a question. Sure. Do you think that people, when they call in, do you think it's sort of, of the same as texting. Like, they're not present. They're not in person. They don't have to look at you.
Starting point is 00:16:56 I don't think so. So they feel braver to say, hey, and then they give you some. No, I think they tell their, I think it's quite the opposite. I think because it's anonymous, they tell you the deep, dark secrets. We had one a couple of weeks ago on her podcast.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Susan and I did everything we could do not to laugh. and I won't go into it in detail but someone was going through this incredibly long story about their relationship and we're reading it and we're thinking oh my God this poor person
Starting point is 00:17:29 what are they going to do we both had to agree leave and then at the end the person said I've only known them a month and both of us were like it just took you a month to read it
Starting point is 00:17:42 a what it wasn't even that was so deep like you've been together 12 years or something And we were like, how did all that happen? Really? And they're asking you for advice. Like what to do and whether they should be together. And of course, first thing come out of my mouth was you've been together a month?
Starting point is 00:17:59 Yeah. Like if you're already questioning it that much, the answer is probably no. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, let's just move along. But people share some things that they just want to know. We've had people write in and tell us how our advice helped them. Oh, that's so nice.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Yeah. Well, that you two are like really. fun and you do have great experiences and then Nancy, I've seen the vibe you guys have with the three of you. It's like, it is, this would be a great show too. I would like to see the three of them. We just like to run our own, like say whatever we want sometimes.
Starting point is 00:18:29 We're getting a little closer to break in some rules, so. And we get more feedback when we talk about us and not all business or all. But let me say something about Nancy that people don't know. Here we go. I'm ready. We're going to talk about you.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Everybody hold your breath. Here's the thing about Nancy. Susan and I are rather vociferous, vocal, outspoken, all those, all those words. Nancy sits back quietly, but if you wait, Nancy... So pop one out and not... Brilliant. And it's funny and it's heartfelt and it's brilliant. We just don't give her a chance a lot.
Starting point is 00:19:11 You can't get a word. And I just say, wait. It's my turn the door. Or I use an expletive. And then I say, that'll get their attention. Shut the up. Yeah, there you go. And then I go, it's my turn.
Starting point is 00:19:22 It's my time to shine. It's my time to shine. And then I have to say something. And then it goes back. She's in the back. We're lost with some island. Oh, my gosh. You can't make this up.
Starting point is 00:19:32 And you know what? That, it builds memories. Well, that's how friendships are made. Yeah. And we're already. But truly, going on the show on the Golden Bachelor was the best blessing, truly, for me, and I think I can speak for both of these two as well, that we never expected the experience to be as wonderful as it was.
Starting point is 00:19:57 And it's a lasting friendship. It's not like the show was over. We talk every day or every three or four days or whatever. Oh, come on, Nancy. My phone tag at least six times a week. I love it. Yeah. But truly, do you hear it, there's Pearl of Wisdom from Nancy.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Yep. She's absolutely right. The friendships that we have, I know that I could call either one of these two and say, I need you, I have a real, and they're there. I would say we're the closest. Yeah. We still talk to all the ladies.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Sure. It's not quite the same. Well, I also think, excuse me. I'm talking a lot to Joan. I want her leftovers. No, we are all going to get a chance at that. But I think going on this show, I don't think that all of us expected this.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Yeah. And so it was kind of a surprise, and we were like, oh, my gosh. Oh, it's the best byproduct of doing it. We are going to take a quick break here with Kathy, Susan, and Nancy from the Golden Bachelor. And we'll be back in just a little bit with some more. Stick around. Follow the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcasts on IHeartRadio, or subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
