I know he has a reputation, but it's going to catch up to him. Gabe Ortiz is a cop. His brother Larry, a mystery Gabe didn't want to solve until it was too late.
Starting point is 00:01:44 He was the head of this gang. You're going to push that line for the cause. Took us under his wing and showed us the game, as they call it. When Larry's killed, Gabe must untangle a dangerous past, one that could destroy everything he thought he knew. Listen to the brothers Ortiz on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Who would you call if the unthinkable happened? My sister was y'all 22 times.
Starting point is 00:02:09 A police officer, right? But what do you do when the monster is the man in blue? This dude is the devil. He'll hurt you. This is the story of a detective who thought he was above the law until we came together to take him down. I said, you're going to see my face till the day that you die. I got you, I got you, I got you. Listen to the girlfriends, Untouchable, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHartRadio.
Starting point is 00:02:47 It's an almost famous podcast. Ashley and I are here today with you. We've been asking all of Bachelor Nation about what other moments that are I iconic to them from the show and that they'll never forget. Well, we've asked so many other people. It's time for us to answer this. Ashley, what moments will you never forget as a viewer? So I'm talking, you're not on the show.
Starting point is 00:03:16 You're viewing it. Or I would actually say this. You could have been on this season and just been a spectator in the house or in paradise while this was happening. Okay. Sounds good. I will keep that in mind going through these picks. No, that's my first question. Oh, okay. All right. Your first question is the one that stands out in my mind. That you were not a part of, but that you were a viewer of. That was not a part of. That would be, I think because so many people have named this as one of their most memorable,
Starting point is 00:03:52 it has to be Hannah Brown moving the podium away from what's his name. And then I also really think about her saying that we effed in a windmill four times. Like that may be the, I think that is the quote of the franchise. Like that is the one that stands out to me the most. Maybe I'm being self-obsessed and thinking that the second most memorable line in the franchise Maybe when Kelsey looked at me and said, I know what you did. Do you have any memorable lines that are coming to you besides those two? I think it's Chris Harrison yelling he jumped.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Oh my gosh. That's funny. See, that's more of a scene than like a statement in my head. That, Ben, that as a viewer, was one of the most memorable moments. Also one that I think abs so freaking lutely lived up to the T's. everybody was concerned that that wasn't going to live up. But it certainly did, if not even better than it was. Because he wasn't running after a girl.
Starting point is 00:05:02 He was running from production, which made it so good. So good. Let's see. Other memorable moments. No, you just have to have one. We're just doing one here. Okay. Well, I kind of, yeah, but if I have to choose one,
Starting point is 00:05:19 the fence jump yeah yeah i'll go with the fence jump that's my favorite that was my favorable shock moments of all time what about you uh as a viewer um i'll never forget sitting in the bachelor mansion on night one watching um and i forget his name at this point call chris harrison chris hanson because he was so intoxicated and sitting next to your husband I was sitting next to Jared on the couch and I remember that I'll never forget that feeling of
Starting point is 00:06:01 what in the world and are we watching and like this is going to be on television one day and we get a front row seat and it kind of was like us it was in the back of my mind the whole time was I have a front row seat at some of this like madness and nobody's going to believe it nobody's going to believe it
Starting point is 00:06:19 So funny. I would also... But that's what you're most... As a viewer, that seems to be like the one that you're involved in. Okay. As a viewer of a television show, then, I had the most emotional reaction to Rachel Lindsay and Peter Krauss sitting down having their last conversation. That is a really, really good one.
Starting point is 00:06:45 What about Switcheroo's? Not to, like, add more in there. But Ari Switcheroo, I feel like was teased too much for me that I knew it was coming. And then Jason Mesnix, I didn't really watch. I will always say that I was flabbergasted by Devin's behavior with Jen. Anything, any other, like, endings that were just absolutely mind-blowing? Devin and Jen gave me the most, like, visceral, like, I hate every second of this. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:07:15 The other ones were, like, shocking. Out of love. They were like, person loves that one. Yeah. I would also, I mean, you have to throw in then like Rachel Rechia and Tino when she showed up to the house and he couldn't explain himself. And it backfired badly, you know, some of those moments.
Starting point is 00:07:35 What moments will you never forget from your time on this show? So any season that you're a part of, what moment when you think of this represents my time on the show? Well, I think definitely me and the balance. Odlands with Kelsey. And then secondly, I think the one that most people would think of besides that was probably Nick telling me that I would never be with Jared. People remind me of that all the time.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Why did he say that to you? Well, he was trying to be a good friend. And he was treating me in a way that, like, he wanted me to know that I wasn't going to be the exception to the rule if we're playing by, you know, the, the. rom-com standard and for pretty much most of people out there you know like i would say 90% it's probably best to lead your friend in that direction to avoid them getting further hurt obviously like it was just i was the exception to the rule and it just didn't apply and it's really cool that the story ended up that way but i know that he was like trying to get me
Starting point is 00:08:45 to let go. I don't think he was being malicious, but, you know, with most friends, they would be a little bit more gentle about it, but it was definitely the tough love approach, which oftentimes I don't respond to the best, and I obviously didn't listen, so. You are the exception, Ashley. From my time on the show, I kind of mentioned it. I have a lot more memories that stand out to me when I was on The Bachelorette that I do The Bachelorette. that I do The Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:09:16 The Bachelor was kind of a mode of, like, survival, and I felt like it was trying to, like, solve the problems one step at a time. And so these huge, like, moments never felt big to me because I always tried to, like, take a deep breath and walk through them. Viewers might have a different perspective. I do remember Jojo locking herself in the bathroom, and I'll never forget the feeling of my good, goodness this went from like a nice easy process to now this is the kind of was like this is no
Starting point is 00:09:53 longer a TV show like somebody's very hurt and I don't know what to say and I feel like I'm losing my wits and I'm losing any ability to like converse or to navigate because there was no solution it was going to end in some type of hurt and I didn't know how to I was not good at handling that. So that was a big moment. But on The Bachelorette, there was just so many moments that people were doing ridiculous things like Josh Albers getting his hair cut by Caitlin and they gave her dull clippers. I'll never forget him coming back into the room. Oh my gosh. I remember that now. Yeah. He came back from like their little one-on-one session and his head was just chunked out with hair because the clippers were dull and it was just yanking his hair out um i'll never forget
Starting point is 00:10:47 all of us like standing in the middle of met's stadium for a rose ceremony when it was like five degrees outside and we were freezing cold and they didn't seem to want to hurry it along yeah you're bringing up cute moments that you remember from being on the show that aren't memorable necessarily to the whole yeah so i want i want to go through with mine but go finish yours no that's it you go ahead yeah no i just wanted to say when we went camping with crystals i have to add that is to one of the most memorable experiences i had never gotten camping in my life then there i am doing on tv trying to impress a guy it was hilarious and then just like i think about being in south dakota with the girls a lot it is funny that
Starting point is 00:11:35 you and I both think more about the show that we just had fun on and the less serious show. Because obviously, The Bachelor was a serious time for you. And Paradise was a serious time for me, too. I'm investigative journalist Melissa Jeltson. My new podcast, What Happened in Nashville, tells the story of an IVF clinic's catastrophic collapse. and the patients who banded together in the chaos that followed. We have some breaking news to tell you about. Tennessee's Attorney General is suing a Nashville doctor. In April 2024, a fertility clinic in Nashville shut down overnight and trapped behind locked doors were more than a thousand frozen embryos.
Starting point is 00:12:23 I was terrified. Out of all of our journey, that was the worst moment ever. At that point, it didn't occur to me what fight was going to come to follow. But this story isn't just a. about a few family's futures. It's about whether the promise of modern fertility care can be trusted at all. It doesn't matter how much I fight. Doesn't matter how much I cry over all of this.
Starting point is 00:12:46 It doesn't matter how much justice we get. None of it's going to get me pregnant. Listen to what happened in Nashville on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Stefan Curry, and this is Gentleman's Cut. I think what makes Gentleman's Cut different is me being a part of, you know, developing the profile of this beautiful finished product. With every sip, you get a little something different.

Have you ever listened to those true crime shows and found yourself with more questions than answers? And what is this? How is that not a story we all know?
Starting point is 00:13:38 What's this? Where is that? Why is it wet? Boy, do we have a show for you? From Smartless Media, Campside Media, and Big Money Players, comes crimeless. Join me, Josh Dean, investigative journalists. And me, Roy Scoval, comedian, as we celebrate the amazing creativity of the world's dumbest criminals. We'll look into some of the silliest ways folks have broken the laws.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Honestly, it feels more. like a high-level prank than a crime. Who catfish is a city? And meets a memorable anti-heroes. There are thousands of angry, horny monkeys. Clap if you think she's a witch. And it freaks you out.
Starting point is 00:14:18 He has x-ray vision. How could I not follow him? Honestly, I got to follow him. He can see right through me. Listen to Crimless on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Who would you call a thing happened. I just fell and started screaming. If you lost someone you loved in the most
Starting point is 00:14:40 horrific way. I said through your shot 22 times. The police, right? But what if the person you're supposed to go to for help is the one you're the most afraid of? This dude is the devil. He's a snake. He'll hurt you. I got you. I'm Nikki Richardson, and this is The Girlfriends. Untouchable. Detective Roger Golubski spent decades intimidating and sexually abusing black women across Kansas City using his police badge to scare them into silence. This is the story of a detective who seemed above the law until we came together to take him down.
Starting point is 00:15:21 I told Roger Galoopsky, I said, you're going to see my face till the day that you die. Listen to the girlfriends, Untouchable, on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Dad had the strong belief that the devil was attacking us. Two brothers, one devout household, two radically different paths. Gabe Ortiz became one of the highest-ranking law enforcement officers in Texas.
Starting point is 00:15:51 32 years, total law enforcement experience. But his brother Larry, he stayed behind and built an entirely different legacy. He was the head of this gang, and nobody was going to tell him what to. You're gonna push that line for the calls. Took us under his wing and showed us the game, as they call it. When Larry is murdered, Gabe is forced to confront the past he tried to leave behind and uncover secrets he never saw coming. My dad had a whole other life that we never knew about. Like my mom started screaming my dad's name and I just heard one gunshot.
Starting point is 00:16:24 The brothers Ortiz is a gripping true story about faith, family, and how two lives can drift so far apart and collide in the devastating way. Listen to the Brothers Ortiz on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Ashley, when fans see you, what moment do they bring up the most to you? They bring up the Nick moment and then they bring up the Kelsey and the Badlands moment. And then they just say in general, I'm so glad he came around. so glad he was, you know, so slow to do it. And I was like, come on, dude. Jared loves that.
Starting point is 00:17:09 He loves hearing that every single time. I'm sure he does. I'm sure he does. Some people are fine and nice about it. And some people are kind of dicky about it. Yeah. Well, they were mad at Jared for a long time. I know. I haven't gotten over that yet, even though you have two kids in a marriage. I was like, you guys, we've been married for six years now. Yeah, it came around. I don't even think about it anymore. But I appreciate that you guys do give it so much thought. for sure thank you I mean again for me it's a lot of bachelor at moments it's usually my sex ed date people will still talk about that love that as I do all the time yeah and it's a it was a fun day for me I remember being so nervous and having that feeling of okay I did okay um and then a lot of people
Starting point is 00:17:54 bring up the green hall date that Caitlin and I had I think it was my first one-on-one and I think the reason that they relate to that so much is because it was a day and there was very few out of you know 70 plus days of filming between the bachelor and the time I was on the bachelorette that I felt like I could just be myself um like where there was no like regard for the cameras or how things would come off it was just the perfectly fun date for me what was it we went to the dance hall and like outside of San Antonio and it was uh we like had a big day a dancing day we learned a line dance and then there was an old veteran there who kind of gave us some wisdom and advice um oh yeah it was a really it was just like a fun day and so they'll bring that up a lot
Starting point is 00:18:50 um every once in a while when like my buddies though bring up the boxing date with when i got knocked out by Jared quite often in my life they bring that up which is good and healthy for me I remember it because my contact flew out and I really didn't have any extra payers and so as soon as I got off the Bachelorette I got LASIC surgery so I didn't have to deal with that again great great yeah those are great memories except for you know they're getting punched up I well Jared end up going to a hospital so hey Jared what's your most memorable moment from the show it goes proposing to you
Starting point is 00:19:34 to which that should be my most memorable moment right it wasn't in your top five Jared the only reason that I don't think about that moment a lot is because well one I feel like they ruined it in the actual episode in the context of the episode I really really was mad about that
Starting point is 00:19:55 and then it's like such a blur. It's just, it's like such a blur. Proposing is a blur. No, proposing I know is a blur. Being proposed too is also a blur. So when I think about it, I don't even think about me being in the moment.
Starting point is 00:20:12 I actually think about what it looked like from a third party's perspective because it was on TV. I don't remember proposing to Jessica at all. I mean, I remember like a little bit of it leading up and like the walk. that we did, but I don't remember anything about, like, the actual moment. It was such a nerve-wracking experience.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Yeah, actually, I think so much more about the moment that I saw Jared for the first time and that first day in paradise, that is far more of an, it had far more of an impact on me. I'm investigative journalist Melissa Jeltson. My new podcast, What Happened in Nashville, tells the story of an IVF clinic's catastrophic collapse and the patients who banded together in the chaos that followed. Starting point is 00:22:26 irresponsibly. Have you ever listened to those true crime shows and found yourself with more questions than answers? And what is this? How is that not a story we all know? What it, what's this you? Where is that? Why is it wet? Boy, do we have a show for you. From smartless media, campside media, and big money players comes crimeless. This is the story of a detective who seemed above the law until we came together to take him down. I told Roger Goloopsky, I said,
Starting point is 00:24:22 you're going to see my face to the day that you die. Listen to the girlfriends, Untouchable, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Dad had the strong belief that the devil was attacking us. Two brothers, one devout household, two radically different paths. Gabe Ortiz became one of the highest-ranking law enforcement officers in Texas. 32 years, total law enforcement experience. But his brother Larry, he stayed behind and built an entirely different legacy. He was the head of this gang, and nobody was going to tell him what to do.
Starting point is 00:25:01 You're going to push that line for the calls. Took us under his wing and showed us the game, as they call it. When Larry is murdered, Gabe is forced to confront the past he tried to leave behind and uncover secrets he never saw coming. My dad had a whole other life that we never knew about. Like, my mom started screaming my dad's name, and I just heard, One gunshot. The Brothers Ortiz is a gripping true story about faith, family,
Starting point is 00:25:28 and how two lives can drift so far apart and collide in the most devastating way. Listen to the Brothers Ortiz on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Jared just said from behind the scenes, he said that night one stands out to him as a big memory. I would also agree that my night one, too. And then Ben already said his night one on Bachelorette. Yeah, because he was terrified. But I think for me, when I think of Jared, I think there's some iconic moments in the franchise.
Starting point is 00:26:09 And it could have just been me as an experiencer of this. But I always liked Jared as a human. He's a nice guy. He is very intelligent. he was funny he was a calming presence for me during the show but he was never this like threatening quite honestly this like threat when it came to who was going to end up with Caitlin at the end until New York City when he had his glam makeover
Starting point is 00:26:39 and he walked in and I was like goodness dude like what happened and I think that's a very memorable moment for me because he went from like hey he's a buddy he's a friend don't know if he's going to be with Caitlin to this dude is like a GQ model walking back into our house. What just happened? We were just making fun of him. We had a whole bunch of friends down Orlando and we were talking about the way that he looked
Starting point is 00:27:04 on the first season with that haircut. And I was like, babe, if you didn't have that haircut and you like had the barber that you have today, you like may have won. So thank goodness for the haircut you had. He won. It just... Oh, well, thanks. You know, I mean, he would have one then before you ever met me. Well, hey, God has big plans, and he had a big plan for you.
Starting point is 00:27:27 And you. And I will say that, like, you're always so complimentary of Jared and how he comes across and how he did early on and how he was very comforting to you. And I have to say that between you and Jared, like, you guys are the only people I really know that just nobody dislikes you. Like, I've never met somebody that was like, oh, that Jared doesn't rob me the right way. Jared's impossible to dislike. I mean, he showed up tonight one in a Superman t-shirt.
Starting point is 00:27:53 How can you hate a guy that literally wears a comic book on his chest to a mansion on TV? Well, that wasn't exactly his idea. I think that it was a great idea, though. It was a great idea. Don't forget. It was Love Man, not Superman. Oh, Love Man, that's right. That's so cheesy.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Oh, my gosh. So cheesy. That's what I mean. Yeah. Oh, my. Ashley, in closing up this episode, obviously we asked a lot of Bachelor Nation. Make sure you listen to that because it's really fun to hear what moments stand out to everybody else.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Is there any, I'm going to switch this question a little bit from what we asked everybody else. Is there any like memes, videos, scenes from the show that people send you online that make you squirm? Like you don't like to see them. All of Bachelor in Paradise. season three. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:28:49 any, nobody sends me these videos, but if I were like look myself up, I would see them and it would probably be like me like just attacking
Starting point is 00:28:59 crystals physically. Yeah, that's what I just can't can't deal with seeing. No. What about you? There isn't a ton from the Bachelor or Bachelor. I'd see the one that wrecks me
Starting point is 00:29:13 is winter games. When Chris Harrison sat me down and like I sobbed. There was just a lot behind the scenes of that that I was frustrated with when it came to why I was actually there at Winter Games and what the agreement was for me to be there and how I kind of felt stuck.
Starting point is 00:29:29 And then I also enjoyed many pieces of that because of you and Dean and some others getting into know Courtney through that. But that was just a really like, I hate watching that because I was at one of my lowest points and the show took advantage of it. And I felt like that was the first, time they had really produced me in a way that made my own emotions kind of they used my
Starting point is 00:29:57 own emotions against me and they knew it and it was clear from the very beginning and I was really frustrated. So that just is raw for me still. Okay. So now that you bring that up, I feel like I haven't even included that chapter in any of this consideration. And I think that's because I almost disassociate that season for us. It's funny because it was only 10 days. So it was like the shortest thing ever. I feel like with Paradise
Starting point is 00:30:24 Season 3, my frustration comes about it because of a lot of like the editing choices which, you know, how we feel about sometimes I can understand people complain about editing and sometimes I can't. Depends on what it is. But to me that was still me. I was still
Starting point is 00:30:40 me. Winter Games was just a weird chapter of life. It was definitely like a stepping stone, and I'm appreciative of the stepping stone, but I never think about it. Yeah. I don't think about it often because it was something that should have been really fun. You were there, which I was super excited to do it with you. I just, I didn't know I was going in.
Starting point is 00:31:04 I didn't agree to go in as a contestant. I went in to be there as a support system for my friends, and it quickly turned against me. And as a result, I was like, I was an outsider by default because I didn't want to date. I didn't want to be stuck in a house. I was just not in a good place. And so I remember it because it was kind of my moment of wake up, Ben, like you need to heal a little bit. And then also there was some brilliance to it too where I got to meet Yuki. And I had the best time with her. It was so fun. It was like, she was like my safe space because there was no like romantic connection.
Starting point is 00:31:50 So we could just kick it and hang out and have a lot of fun together. And I had no issue with that. But it got weird. That whole show got a little weird. Anyways, this is our reminiscing breakdown. I just, I don't, I really do appreciate what her games for what it was. It is just very strange of me. to look back on pictures of that.
Starting point is 00:32:14 That's to answer your question. You and I both feel very weird about that. But like not in a bad way. I'm so glad I did it. So glad I did it. I'm not mad I did it. Oh my gosh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:23 I'm not mad I did it. I thought Ben and I thought Dean and I were going to give each other friendship roses the entire time. Quote, quote, friendship roses at the time. I did not just want to be friends with you. Dean, what are you talking about those off of your quote friendship rose? Oh, Ash. see we do have great memories and great moments it's fun to look back on some of this
