And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. This technology's already solving so many cases. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:02:14 The Super Secret Festi Club podcast season four is here. And we're locked in. That means more juicy cheesement. Terrible love advice. Evil spells to cast on your ex. No, no, no, no, we're not doing that this season. Oh, well, this season we're leveling up. Each episode will feature a special Bestie, and you're not going to want to miss it.
Starting point is 00:02:34 My name is Curley. And I'm Maya. Get in here. Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHartRadio. Hey, everyone. Can you see me? Can you hear me?
Starting point is 00:02:53 Hey, everyone. It's Ashley. And it is Ben and Jess. are a couple of the hour right now. This was supposed to be an engagement party, but for some reason, it didn't exactly turn out that way. It's kind of a hot mess.
Starting point is 00:03:09 We were going to call this Ben's hot mess of an engagement party. And Ben, do you want to explain why then he's? Yeah, I would love to. This was, so a little backstory here. Jessica had this incredible idea that she was going to do her bachelor at party in Napa.
Starting point is 00:03:26 and our amazing producer, Amy, was kind of helping her with that. Well, unfortunately, due to the massive amount of people that are getting married this year in Jessica's life, bachelor's parties became very expensive. And so she decided, because she's incredible, that she was going to try to do an amazing bachelor's party with the lowest amount of cost. So Napa was then out of the question. So Amy and Iheart was sweet enough to say, okay, well, how about we through your engagement party in Napa.
Starting point is 00:03:57 And we were all super excited about it, like incredible, incredibly excited about it. A couple nights ago, we get a text from IHeart that says, hey, unfortunately, this trip is not looking good, you know, with California's new restrictions, with everything going on in the world, it feels like a lot for IHeart to send people to Napa. And so the trip, unfortunately, got canceled. Well, what was that, 24 hours ago when we got the text that it was canceled? We find out today that some people still went to Napa. But Ashley, Jared, Jess and myself are still at home.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And so we're going to do a virtual engagement party, not in Napa, but I promised Jessica this. We would be going to now. but at some point very soon, because she deserves it. So that's why we get a lot of confusion, a lot of things happening, but we're still in Denver hanging out. It'll happen soon. And Jared is having a problem. If you see him mouthing things,
Starting point is 00:05:07 that's because he doesn't realize he's muted. I can see that he's muted, but he says he's not. So he'll be back in a second. Jesse looks so pretty. Aw, thank you. It's so pretty. Yeah. So it seems like Nick and Dean, who will be joining us today, did end up going to Napa. So we'll see how it is from there. It'll be funny. But, Jess, you'll make it there sometime soon, I'm sure. I don't believe it. I said it'll be the perfect time and worth the wait. And here's the big thing about tonight. So as we're getting prepped for tonight, Jessica threw on this incredible denim dress that her friend...
Starting point is 00:05:47 My friend Tasia made it for me for the trip. So I was like, I'm so good. I don't wear it. Yeah. So, not Tasha, our Tasia. No. Okay. Another friend named T. What's her brand called?
Starting point is 00:05:59 T.P. Denham. T.P. Denham. So, cool little startups. That was cool. So she still got to do that. She still got to pour herself a little drink. But before we get started with nine, and I know this is going to be a great time, we always love these live shows, Ash.
Starting point is 00:06:11 We always, afterwards, text each other. That was so much fun because we used to talk to people listening. It's pretty engaging. But you aren't in Napa either. you are also you've mentioned on the podcast the day so I don't think I'm in trouble for saying this but if I am you'll make sure to tell me you're not feeling great still like things aren't like ideal for you right now still not ideal um yeah no it's it's still kind of like a daily struggle grind hopefully soon uh Jared if you see he's in our apartment in Rhode Island and I'm at my
Starting point is 00:06:48 parents. I'm kind of getting babyed here. I can get a little bit of different care here than I can over there because my dad's a doctor. But Jared is up in Rhode Island. And I want him to tell the other big news that we have. So, because it's kind of like his baby. I mean, like he's got this baby and then he's got like another baby he's been working on, which means that he has to be apart a little bit right now. But I, but we'll wait for him to get on here. I'm getting some questions from the audience for you guys. Do you mind if I go to a couple questions for you? No, let's do that.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Okay. Jess, were any of your friends and family skeptical that you were dating a celebrity? My little brother. He actually said in an interview the other day, because he plays, he's in the minor league, he's in baseball. And in an interview the other day, like, I don't know what it was for,
Starting point is 00:07:41 maybe a radio show or something. They asked him about Ben, and he was like, I was pretty skeptical. So it's funny. He was so cute, though. He texted me after, and he was like, did that hurt Vince feelings? So I was like, no. No, it did.
Starting point is 00:07:55 It hurt a deep. No. Was that the first time he ever said anything like that? Like, just now after you guys have been together for so long? Publicly. Publicly. He's talked to me. We get to play golf together quite a bit.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Yeah. He always on the golf course, sex, but he did say something, and if he's watching this, he's going to kill me. But he did say something, like, I would say six. months after Jessica and I had met her family and we'd been around
Starting point is 00:08:20 him quite a bit because we ended up quarantining with him because if you remember I got off a tour and we were back in Franklin and so the whole family was there
Starting point is 00:08:25 we're on the golf course one day and he goes as I'm around you and Jess it's why I'm so picky because I want the relationship you guys have were your best friend
Starting point is 00:08:36 it's very sweet so sweet so he was skeptical but we want him over in fact interesting fact and her mom was actually the one
Starting point is 00:08:44 that said hey you should you should message him back. Like, yeah. So she wasn't as skeptical. Yeah. I think my family was more just surprised that I would be in this position of her. So getting married, finding someone that would marry me in general. Believe me, but they still can't believe that I'm married.
Starting point is 00:09:04 My favorite. And as time goes on, I think they're more and more surprised that Jared still seems very happy with me. I'm very happy. Sorry about the audio mix up. Apparently, safari's not that good with audio. I'm on safari. I know. I was on safari in the waiting room.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Everything was fine. Then I signed on. I couldn't hear your beautiful voices. I also want to let you know. I'm wearing the almost famous. I see that. Very calm in your goody bag? It wasn't my goody bag, along with these,
Starting point is 00:09:32 to which I've been going around the house listening to the speed theme by myself. I don't know. Oh, my God. You guys, when he was little, he would go around with a plague gone, pretending like he was Keanu Reeves in Speed and nothing is strange. I wanted to be a cop. Still do. Anywho, this is not about myself.
Starting point is 00:09:49 This is not about Ashley, for the first time of your life. It's not about you. This is about Ben and Jess, your engagement. It's very exciting. How has engaged life been? Any different? Nothing's changed. Any different than dating life?
Starting point is 00:10:02 Yes, because we live in the same time. That's big. And our conversations are a lot deeper. Yeah. I would say it's also, dating for us was kind of different because I think early on and we've said this like either this was going to be the best thing ever or it was going to end in like tragic heartbreak like we knew it was serious from the very beginning and so there was never this time like because it never ended in tragic heartbreak there was never this time that I at least for me really ever doubted that we were going to get married and so it always kind of felt like we were engaging in they were dating in fact like putting like I remember leading up to when I was proposing to her, everybody was like, are you excited? Are you nervous? Are you anxious? And I was like, well, I did cry a lot during it. I didn't think I would. But I was
Starting point is 00:10:53 like, not really. Like, it just kind of feels like natural. It just feels like the thing that's needs to happen so that we can start playing a wedding. It's also been really fun to be engaged. Like, I think I'm actually going to miss being engaged and having people like anticipating the wedding. And it's very depressing. After like three weeks, you're married and you're like, we're just husband and wife we're not even cool anymore that is not depressing i've always preferred saying husband and wife than fiancee yeah fun like oh my wife actually yeah it's cool still it's still pretty cool i'm not gonna lie about that but it was like to ben's point pretty fun when you're engaged and people were like oh when's the wedding and oh blah blah blah blah blah you guys are
Starting point is 00:11:37 engaged so exciting and now then it like immediately transitioned to what are you guys having kids That's way more annoying than being asked about your wedding. Well, now they know for you it's very soon. Hey, before we continue on, Jared, I do want to take a second and highlight what you have going on that Ashley was just mentioning a second ago. Also, throughout the podcast, we're going to have some incredible guests. Those guests are celebrating our engagement in the place that we wish we were at right now. But in fact, after this tonight, Jessica and I are going to go on a little date.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Tomorrow night, we're going to have an incredible date in Denver because we've been apart for a long time. So we are going to take advantage of this celebratory weekend still, even though we aren't in Napa. So we do have some incredible guests coming on. We're going to talk wedding details as much as we can during the podcast. But before we get there, I do want to take a second, Ashley, because we had some incredible people who sponsored this event for Jessica and I and sponsored some of the gift bags that we get in this whole show. So I'm going to name them throughout the podcast. We're going to start with the Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa, which I believe is where everybody's at right now. The resort features nine on-site wine-tasting rooms, a microbrewery grocery store, the Food and Wine Center, and the Wallon, with gains for all ages.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Meritage's signature restaurant, Olive and Hay, which is incredible. Is Napa Valley's newest Italian restaurant for Farm Fresh Fair positioned at the gateway of Napa Valley? The Maritaj Resort and Spa welcomes guests to an Idaelic. I'm never, sorry, guys. I really, we're live. Hey, this happens. No editing here. Set against Rolling Hills and its own private vineyards.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Also, if you look behind us here, and if you look at Ashley's screen, this is something that Ashley and myself have enjoyed many times over the last few years. And it's, you know, we are, I'd say we're experts at roses. And if we're going to get roses, we're going to get it from Rose Box, New York City. Rose Box, NYC, aims to bring you an exceptional floral experience with longevity so you can sustainably enjoy their beauty for over a year. They are perth, over a year. Wow.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Holy moly. Yeah. And can we talk about the smell of these? These are the best, you know how there's a lot of companies that do box flowers and the smell supposedly last for a year? Yeah. They smell the best out of all of them. They really do.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Like that's pretty, we need it too in this house. They are perfect for any occasion or guaranteed the last year. so you can live your special moments again and again. All right, Ashley, that's the first group of sponsors. Again, thank you for everybody that came out and supported us. These will stay with us the whole time. Ashley, I know we have some special guests coming up, but before we do, Jared, what do you have going on?
Starting point is 00:14:25 What is that? Jared, talk about what you're working on up there in Rhode Island. Well, Ashley and I just needed some time apart, so I figured out that's back. Stop that. Ashley was so concerned that when we came on this Zoom separately, she's like, people are going to think that we're like in doing. We're arguing and we don't want to be around each other.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Listen, Ashley's down in Virginia. Ashley's been very sick throughout this entire pregnancy. So I've been going back and forth. We do have some very exciting news. We are opening our own establishment in Rhode Island, in South Kingston is going to be a coffee house and lounge. We have much more to tell you guys coming very soon, which, of course, using generous coffee because it's great. And there's a lot. I mean, right now there's so much going on because I'm the full owner and operator right now.
Starting point is 00:15:09 And so just trying to get through all the red tape of opening an establishment, obtaining a liquor license, changing the interior, buying the equipment, talking to the health department, talking to different lawyers, getting the LLC set up. There's just like a lot to be done. Dealing with your coffee vendor. Dealing with a coffee vendor who's a complete, I can't say. And Jared's been doing such a good job.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Like there's so many logistics and that stuff is so overwhelming to me, but he's like really got under control. He's doing an amazing job. And just to like clarify, It's a coffee house that at night turns into like a martini lounge. Yeah. And we're getting some, you guys, we are getting questions in our event chat. And we want to answer them throughout the live.
Starting point is 00:15:51 But just keep the questions coming. We really, we have fun with the questions. Somebody asked Trish saying, what's the new place going to be called? It's actually named after my mom. It's going to be called Audrey's Coffee House and Lounge. Yeah. Oh, I love that. Well, we're going to answer those questions at the end of the podcast.
Starting point is 00:16:09 too. So we will save time for that. Congratulations you too. That's a big deal. And we're going to highlight it and talk about it a ton because this is super exciting. Oh, I know. I just know how Dean's in the comments. I see that. Classic Jerry sharing big news everywhere but his own podcast. Everybody watching right now, definitely go check out how I suck a dating and I Heart Radio podcast. It's amazing. Well, I have a suck army hat in the other room, but I wore, wow. I'm really just promoting your podcast, aren't I? I shouldn't really be wearing a suck army head. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:16:43 That's where you are right now. Yeah. All right. Hey, speaking to Dean, let's bring Dean and Kailen into the chat. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
Starting point is 00:17:05 This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor. lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to
Starting point is 00:17:39 the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psycho babble.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app, search emergency intercom, and listen now. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately from Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs.
Starting point is 00:18:39 that mimic military basic training. These programs aimed to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio, app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime.
Starting point is 00:19:36 A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught, and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors, and you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases, to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Hi, I'm Janica Lopez, and in the new season of the Overcover podcast, I'm taking you on an exciting journey of self-reflection. Am I ready to enter this new part of my life? Like, am I ready to be in a relationship? Am I ready to have kids and to really just devote myself and my time? I wanted to be successful on my own, not just because of who my mom is. Like, I felt like I needed to be better or work twice as hard as she did. Join me for conversations about healing and growth. Life is freaking hard.
Starting point is 00:20:43 And growth doesn't happen in comfort. It happens in motion, even when you're hurting. All from one of my favorite spaces, The Kitchen. Honestly, these are going to come out so freaking amazing. Be a part of my new chapter and listen to the new season of the Overcumper podcast as part of the MyCultura podcast network on the IHHHHHH Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Hi. How's Napa? Well, we just arrived. We got into the hotel room and opened up the computer right away to say how to you guys. But that's the same. You know, I feel, feels a little empty inside just because you guys aren't here. But we feel empty inside, too. It was a, it was a hectic 24.
Starting point is 00:21:33 hours of a lot of confusion. But we are glad you made it. And we did just talk about the resort that you're staying at. I know you only got to see a piece of it, but is it as, is it as incredible as it seems? Yeah, here I'll show you. Actually, we have a nice vineyard view. If you can see out the window, I don't know if the camera will adjust you on. There's a nice thing. The bell staff, shout out to my guy Cole. He was really nice when he checked us in. We haven't seen much of it yet, but we're excited to check out. I hear they've got nine vineyards here, a microbrewery on location.
Starting point is 00:22:05 So, you know, maybe we'll be able to check in afterwards and give you guys an update. Well, Dean, Kaelin, do you have any questions that you've been dying to ask Jess and Ben about their relationship that you had never have yet? Oh, yeah, actually. The thing you're on a little pad, I looked at a car, and I've got a lot of questions on that about it.
Starting point is 00:22:26 I know you guys have sent out invites, right? So that means you've got a date set, you got a venue set. Yes. You guys didn't get the invite. Save the day. I guess I say I know that you sent out invites. I have no, I'm just assuming you did because Ben asked for my address.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I haven't received anything yet. Ben, I'm pretty sure Dean just doesn't check his mail. He doesn't have a mailbox. Yeah, I mean, my mail gets sent to, like, not even my old address, but like my old, old address and so it's like I'm receiving mail at like five different locations right now so hopefully I get it Dean your life gives me anxiety every time hey by the way um uh healing hello you look beautiful as always you're an incredible human you may just feel super special when you text her and said we wish you were coming you have no clue what we were doing last
Starting point is 00:23:21 night as we were trying to figure out what the heck was going on with this trip it was a roller coaster of emotions but um yeah thanks for thanks for texting her that means a lot she was really excited for this trip yeah i wish you guys were here but you know we have Vegas and other things yes all kinds of fun stuff coming yeah i thought that uh i thought i was going to be able to guilt trip you into actually coming last night you were close uh there were some other things that uh that came up uh that were non-negotiable but uh you're very close we tried very hard Because, I mean, NAPA is an incredible place to be. And we've, you know, we've had some incredible times there.
Starting point is 00:24:01 I do have a question for you two. Because Jessica and I are trying to figure out, like, how to really refine our communication styles for us. So for Jared and Ashley and Kailen and Dean, how do you best enter into conflict? Oh. That's a great question. Yeah, Kail and I are really good at the conflict thing. is I
Starting point is 00:24:24 we just have different communication styles so we're like figuring out how to communicate best I think help by second dating is helping because you guys are taking these quizzes like the apology quiz helped because we both have different apology styles
Starting point is 00:24:39 I need an apology in a certain way and he needs a different apology so we're like learning just takes time how is your apologies different what type of apology does Dean need Dean needs you to own up to your mistake say what you did wrong and kind of like fix it fix it i just say i'm sorry and that's it i'm like as long as you recognize that you had a mistake by saying i'm sorry that's all i need yes and
Starting point is 00:25:04 we've grown from knowing those two things about each other immensely so uh hey let's take a short break here and just mention that uh it's really cool uh because uh this is something that's pretty near to all of our hearts and i and i love you guys for it but all the process seats from tonight's event are going to go to Humanian Hope United, which is an incredible organization that I've been working with, but they were struck by two hurricanes back to back in November of last year, and over half a million people were dispersed from their homes due to mudslides and flooding. It didn't get talked about a lot because I don't know if anybody knew this, but we had an election going on at the same time in the United States. But it is something
Starting point is 00:25:47 super special. So to anybody that bought tickets tonight, also to the guests that are going to be coming on, thanks for doing this. because it's going to go a long ways for the people of Honduras. So I just want to mention that. I love that. Do you guys have a conflict? How do you deal with conflict? Ben, yeah, Ben.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Yeah. I run from it. Literally, like. I hate conflict. I hate it so much. She does. I will do anything for him not to be upset. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:19 We actually started on this morning. we started pre-marital counseling. And it's something that was, you know, not only advised to us by people that we love, but also it was something really important to Jessica. And I have a weird thing with it because I'm excited for it. I think it's going to help. But I do think it might, like some of those big questions are tough to answer at times. But the thing with me, and I have to be careful of this,
Starting point is 00:26:46 Jessica cares so deeply to not hurt me that I could have the ability. to like walk all over it, right? Because I could just like do what I want, say what I want, and she's not going to ever bring it up or she's going to run from it because she doesn't want to hurt me. And so we're figuring out like, what's that balance look like, where she can like enter into conflict with me or she can tell me that she doesn't like something
Starting point is 00:27:08 or she's not appreciative of something. I will respond in a way that doesn't just completely like heighten the conflict so that she wants to run out of the room. So we're figuring that out, which in a weird way, we're on a walk today. And she's like, I'm really excited for this. because it's something that I think we can get better at. Ashley has no quarrels hurting my feelings.
Starting point is 00:27:30 I need. I need someone to like just tell me, hey, this is what's going on. This is what I need. This is what's wrong. And this is what I need you to change. Because I'm such, I don't know, Ashley, what the word is to describe me besides perfection, obviously. But I'm someone who just like, I'm kind of like Jets, where I will deflect. deflect, deflect, deflect, and that doesn't solve anything, as I've learned.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Yeah, but he's gotten so much better at just saying what's ballering him throughout the years. It's, like, impressive how much he's improved. I know. Have I, if I approved upon anything, or do I need to approve of anything? I guess, like, I'm just stubborn. And, like, sometimes I'll just be like, yeah, but this, it's kind of like my mom, right? Yeah, sometimes you definitely are pretty stubborn, and you'll just not, like, you'll know you're wrong, but you need to get the last word in
Starting point is 00:28:22 and that's when I just know I need to swallow my pride and like let you get the last word in and then it's over because like if I refer to then you're going to yeah it's usually me just trying to be like it didn't come from a place of malice I just messed up like this I messed up I know I messed up
Starting point is 00:28:42 but I didn't do it to be hurtful I mean here's the thing I believe that both Dean and myself have been friends and Kaelin, you've been around Ashley long enough that we've all probably gotten confronted by Ashley at some point in our lives. And it's always done with love
Starting point is 00:28:58 and she always knows best and we appreciate everything about her. Dean and Kaelin, we're going to have another guest come on in just a second. But Ashley, do you want to ask them one of the questions that was submitted to us to ask our guests? I want a question for you before we shift gears here.
Starting point is 00:29:14 So on the same topic we were just discussing, we know that Jess is conflict-averse, which is totally okay. So she won't approach you about an issue, but let's say you have an issue with something that she's done. How do you honor her conflict aversion style while also being able to bring up the topic that you want to bring up? You know what I mean? Not well. Yeah, it's hard.
Starting point is 00:29:38 You know, what I do is I shut down. I get really in my own head. I have been wrong so many times that I don't want to react. And so the fear of like reaction, reacting incorrectly like has caused me to take a step away, which feels and seems even to me like I shut down. And so I think as we start talking about this, the hope is that once we both bring it up to each other, then we both understand about each other. And maybe we can push each other to say, hey, what is actually like affecting you? Like what is actually going on? At least I can recognize that she's hurting or that I'm hurting or that I'm in my own head.
Starting point is 00:30:16 But I'm not great at it. and it's still something we're working on. And that's the exciting part because we can still work through stuff. We still love each other deeply, even though, and conflict doesn't happen that often with us. So it's kind of rare. Yeah, so it's been interesting and it's exciting and it's fun. And hey, I think this would be cool, Ash. I don't know how you feel about this, but for those that are watching, if they can submit
Starting point is 00:30:43 the ways that they deal with conflict and their relationship, I think that would be really fun to see and pull back from later. Okay, we have to hurry up here. So ask this question, Dean and Caitlin, you answer it, then we're going to bounce to our next guest. Okay, this is a fun question. What is one thing that your significant other does that they think they're good at,
Starting point is 00:31:01 but they aren't really? Are you asking us that question? Yeah. Oh, well, I'll answer because Caitlin doesn't have an answer because I created everything. That's a problem. Yeah, you can start that.
Starting point is 00:31:17 all I think. No, I don't know. I thought you had something. I was just trying to kill time, to be honest. Something that she thinks she's great at, but in reality, she's not. Besides driving, the best driver. That's fine. That's a good answer. Yeah, that's an answer. Do you think you're an okay driver, Kailen? No, she claims to be the best driver. And it's not only, it's not only when she's driving but also like when i'm driving the car she'll like coach me as if i haven't been driving for the past 15 years she'll be like oh it turns up here or oh watch out for that pole over there and i'm like in my head i'm like obviously all of these things are on my head i don't i appreciate what you're doing but like it's not necessary in my defense we've gotten into two car accidents
Starting point is 00:32:03 together so i just have anxiety yeah i was driving all right hey we got to hurry up we're on a time crunch your team all right i see what what's going on. I don't want to answer the question because I'm actually curious about it as well. No, I don't think I know. Something that you think you're good at. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Organization. He actually just complimented my organization skills the other day, so. I did. I said he's a very organized traveler, but he's not. He's a traveler. He's left and right.
Starting point is 00:32:34 He misses every flight. Oh, I'm talking like once we were in the hotel. Okay. This is coming from a rule that has 99% of the closet space and it's all a mess and 100% of the bathroom space also all a mess. And yet I'm the one blamed for the mess all the time. This is what we need. And piles.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Hey. Have a great time. Enjoy Napa. Celebrate for us. Send us some pictures. Yeah, send photos. Thank you for joining us. But we've got to go because we have the one and only Nick Vile coming up next.
Starting point is 00:33:10 see you guys so jared has also jumped off because he's got to get back to work so we're going to leave ashley ashley um i appreciate you being here because i know this is not easy for you right now i know you're not feeling 100 but you still wanted to come here and help out with this so thank you oh of course no need to thank me oh there's nick is natalie in here too she's getting ready for the evening oh okay so Wow, we don't even have a significant other. That means that you can talk about Natalie to us. So we're talking about couples things here today.
Starting point is 00:33:48 Oh, yeah. Well, of course. I mean, they wanted me to put headphones on. I mean, she could probably jump on if you want or two. I don't know if she's proper. She was, like, revealing and, like, getting real emotional on Charlene's podcast the other day. That was so cute. Something went wrong with, oh.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Oh, she's the best. Yeah. Thanks. she got us to know yeah we uh we we uh chat a little bit about how uh the arduous process of becoming a couple a very unromantic love story but one that turned into the greatest love at all time what uh now nick i don't even know if we've got to talk about this but you wait a bit to kind of announce your relationship um and i'm sure that's because of a few factors that it would be really...
Starting point is 00:34:44 Well, I mean, we announced it because paparazzi decided to camp outside my house and post pictures of us. And then I was like, okay, well, I guess it's out. Do you have like, has the fact that it's public now changed it at all? No, but like, you know, whenever, like before I was in a relationship, I, you know, Regardless, it was always, I was always going to take my time trying to, you know, build a relationship before I, you know, made it a public thing. You know, I'm a firm believer and I've always said that. I don't think having a quote unquote public relationship has ever helped a relationship.
Starting point is 00:35:28 You know, like it, I think you can be strong enough of a couple to have it not hurt a relationship. But I don't know if it really does anything for the relationship itself. So I think for me, that was really the biggest reason to, you know, make sure that, you know, the priorities were important. And because it just creates added stress and, you know, other opinions and just your reaction to things that really don't have anything to do with the actual relationship. So that was just something I was just mindful of. Now, Ashley, we have a couple questions. And since Natalie's not around, I would love you to ask Nick some of these questions that were submitted us before we begin tonight. Okay, fun.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Nick, I kind of want to ask the same thing that I just asked Dean and Kalen. Because it's like a great question. What does Natalie do that she thinks she's good at, but she's really not that good at? she's a pretty self-aware individual she once claimed to be really good at parallel parking and the truth is she's good at parallel parking oh she's good in parallel parking but she wasn't like I still have you know there
Starting point is 00:36:49 she had this tendency of parking like six inches six inches like too too much in the street. But she's still a pretty good parallel parker, but she would brag about it. And then I was like, well, you know, you're, you're, you're pretty good, but
Starting point is 00:37:09 it wasn't great. What do you think it is about that? I have to stereotype here. I have to stereotype. What do you think it is about the female brain that we just like, we can't, the parallel parking, just not in our DNA? Well, again,
Starting point is 00:37:24 she's a very good parallel parker. But she just was like, you know, six inches into the street, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, Jess, can you parallel? I don't play into any gender stereotypes, especially when it comes to driving. I'm not a particularly great driver. I am a good parallel parker,
Starting point is 00:37:43 but I wouldn't give me any, like my driving skills are not great at all. Just? I don't really, yeah. I actually parallel parking is the one thing that I can do pretty well driving. Because, but it's because when I ran cross-country, all the parking at the parks was parallel parking. So since I was 16, I always had to like every day of the week. So I just got good at it.
Starting point is 00:38:09 But that's the only thing I can do while driving. She loses focus sometimes. We have to snap her out of like just having a really good time and driving and looking down the road. Yeah. Nick, before we let you go here. That's what I do. I hope you have an incredible trip. I hope you guys have a great time and a great evening.
Starting point is 00:38:26 What are you going to be doing tonight? And then do you have any advice for Jess and I? Because you are a relationship expert. You have the Vial Files, which is an incredible podcast, and your TikTok talks about relationships often. And so you do have a lot of insight. So advice and then also what's your plans tonight, Natalie? I believe we're going to dinner with Dean and Kalin and Tanya.
Starting point is 00:38:52 It's like the early bird special. Like when I get off the full, we're going to go. I don't know. That sounds like that's my style. I know. So I think we'll be doing that. And thank you for saying. I don't call myself an expert, just a guy with a handful of opinions. But what is my advice to you guys? I don't know. I mean, once you get married, just enjoy. Well, I don't know. I don't know enough about your relationship to give you like general advice, you know. I don't know. Do you have a specific question? I don't like, you know, be happy and love each other. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Yeah. So, okay, the specific question is going to be one that probably resonates to the whole evening here. How do you best believe to enter into conflict? I think that's one thing right now. We just did some counseling this morning. We asked Dean and Kalin, we asked Ashley and Jared, like when you enter into conflict,
Starting point is 00:39:55 how do you believe it's best done in a relationship? relationship to keep an open channel of communication. Well, I think one thing that Nally and I do well at and something I've had to get better at and I've worked at, she's apparently just always been good at it, is that I think it was really good at acknowledging each other's feelings. I don't think either of us have ever made the other person feel like our feelings were wrong. I think a lot of couples have a tendency of doing that, you know, they get defensive when someone says, well, I feel a certain way. And then when they hear the other person, you know, communicate their
Starting point is 00:40:38 feelings, it's easy to quickly get defensive and make it about them and project those things as opposed to just listening to how they feel. And then we just never make the other person wrong for having those feelings. And we try not to make it about ourselves. And then we just try to address those feelings. That's something that seems to work for us. And then in terms of conflict, I think, you know, this is something I learned from my therapist,
Starting point is 00:41:04 it seems to be really helpful. If you're fighting for more than 10 minutes, we all tend to, I think all of us tend to turn into children. And if you're fighting for more than in 10 minutes and you can't see eye to eye, then it's best to just pause. I think men have a harder time with that.
Starting point is 00:41:25 in general because we try to be problem solvers and conflict resolution, but I think sometimes it's okay to just put a pause in the fight because I think at that point you're not really dealing with the actual matter, but you start bringing in other aspects into the fight, and that's when those 10-minute fights turn into three-hour fights. And usually those three-hour fights, you just need to take a pause either, and then you come back and then you, you know, relax, and then you kind of address the actual problem. So that, you know, try that, see if it helps. Awesome. Well, hey, we're going to let Ashley take a little break here for a second. Go get a glass of water. We promised her this moment at the beginning of the podcast. Need a little moment. Yeah, she's going to take a moment. Before we send you off here, how is Jeff?
Starting point is 00:42:10 Oh, my God, Jeff. Jeff is great. I love Jeff. I miss him. He's really the best. I'm truly obsessed with him. and I really enjoy taking care of them. Like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I didn't think I'd love him that much, but I do. He's so cute. He's the cutest thing ever, yes. So, like, what kind of dog is? He's the best.
Starting point is 00:42:40 He's an Australian cobbardog. He's part of, like, the doodle family, but it's a very specific breed. Apparently, I don't know this, but they're bred to be thick. therapy dogs. But maybe that he just, he likes to cuddle. We're just cuddle buddies. Oh, how big is he going to get? He's great. I think like 30 pounds. His dad's 30 pounds and his mom's around the same. So I don't, not a nice kind of medium size house dog. It might have been our, um, you explained Nick our history with a dog so far, of how these conversations have gone. So I really want a dog and Ben still hasn't gotten over his child.
Starting point is 00:43:20 had dog passing away. And so whenever I bring up a dog, Ben says, but one day it's going to die. And so he has a pretty terrible. He's a pretty negative outlook. It's not exactly how I say it. Well, I say I don't
Starting point is 00:43:36 I appreciate the realist Yeah, he says it in a sweeter way. I appreciate the realism. I'm a bit of a skeptic myself, so I appreciate that. And I will say that I've already started to mourn the loss of Jeff because I've already thought about like I don't know like I've had obviously a lot of friends and family who have had dogs and I've always empathized with them when they lost their their dog. But I never related to how some like how tragic it was for some of them. And now I can relate just because I'm already like worried about.
Starting point is 00:44:20 if that day ever comes, which obviously, you know, in reality, hopefully, you know, like I hope humble around for a while, but it makes me sad. Yeah. It's, you know, I was an only child. And so my dog growing up was like my, my closest sibling. It was like, she was my girl. And so it's just like I'm still not over it. And so it hurts.
Starting point is 00:44:44 But people always tell me, and I'm sure the comments are flowing in right now, you know, it's worth it why they're here. I get that. And so at some point, we will. I mean, Jeff, Jeff's, just, just the only person who's ever loved me unconditionally. You know, and he likes, he, he likes everything about me. And there's so much not to like. And I really, I really like that he looks the other way when it comes to my flaws and just wants to cuddle. So that's what, that's what I like about Jeff. You're the man. Well, Nick, have a great time. Tell Natalie, hello.
Starting point is 00:45:20 thank you for joining us. Thank you for celebrating. I wish you guys would have came. Yeah. Yeah, it was a, we were telling the Dean and Caitlin. It was a very wild evening last night with a lot of fluctuation. But we're going to still go on a date to celebrate and we wish you could be a napa with all of you. Well, I can't wait to see you again. Bye, Jess. I can't see you guys. Oh.
Starting point is 00:45:49 See you. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her. boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him?
Starting point is 00:46:28 Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. Starting point is 00:47:13 A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up. pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA.
Starting point is 00:47:40 Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors. And you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases, to finally solve the unsolvable.

I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago.
Starting point is 00:48:32 I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Hello and welcome. I hope Napa is a blast for you. We're going to have Jessica open up her gift bag that all of you put together along with IHeart Radio. Starting point is 00:51:12 I love watching Jess open a gift bag. Hi, guys. Hi, you can miss you. I know. so bummed you guys aren't here let's see so we've got a towel you hold that for you very cute we have balloons heck yeah well I use those last weekend they're very fun it's a scrubbing in towel I just heard oh it's like the circus circus circle one yes I'm cute I'll be
Starting point is 00:51:48 on my bachelor's party. When are you going on that? Next month, August. August, to a lake in Nashville. My matron of honor has like a huge lake house, so all my best friends are going to just pile in and we'll have a big sleepover to be so fun. Fun. Do you know what the like itinerary is going to be?
Starting point is 00:52:09 I have no idea. I actually found out yesterday that everyone has a packing list except for me. So I'm trying to get that. So I know what to bring. Some jewelry. Oh, jewelry? I didn't know what about the Bachelorette party. Almost Famous T-shirt? Wow.
Starting point is 00:52:26 I wonder who put that together. I'll wear that all the time. I wonder who put that in there. Sneaky. Those are fun. Suck Army hat. Okay. Love that.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Thank you, Dean, and Jared. Um. Suck Army. I get it. I get it. A very soft t-shirts. Oh, that's incredible. Who's that from?
Starting point is 00:52:52 Who's that made by? Ooh, this is nice. That is nice. Chaucer. Chaser. That's nice. That is an incredible gift bag. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Well, Tanya, we do appreciate you celebrating with us tonight. And we love you dearly. You're an incredible human. Now, before we get you going to ask us questions, I do want to ask you, how is your relationship going, and are you feeling happy? Feeling very happy. Actually, I was just when we were flying out here, I was talking about like how the last time that all of us were to get. Well, not, that wasn't the last time we were all together, but like the last time that we were all together in like a really fun environment was that Ashley and Jared's wedding.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Yeah. And like how we kind of have this, it's almost like we're this like weird dysfunctional family dynamic where I'm like, I haven't seen you guys in so long, but like every time we get together, it's just like fun and we just laugh and we drink and we just have the best time. And so I was like, we were flying over here and I was like, I'm bum that you don't get to experience that with everybody because I've been talking about you guys for so long. You know what I mean? It's like we're the pandemic kind of like obviously isolated all of us, but like we haven't been able to have that that experience. But aside from that, so I miss you guys, but my relationship is really, really great. and he's wonderful.
Starting point is 00:54:18 He's here. Do you want to say hi? I would love to. Hi, guys. Nice to meet you. I know. We're really bummed that we couldn't get to hang out this weekend. We were so looking forward to it for so long.
Starting point is 00:54:33 By the way, look how cute his shoes are. Can you lift your feet up? Wait, let's see them. That's impressive. Those are some tight. Whoa. The face are a little too tight. They see.
Starting point is 00:54:43 They're like, they're in what color they're, I think they're pink. We say nude. They're nude. They're nude. So cute. So why both of you are here, because I love to talk to you. How did you two meet? How did this whole thing get started?
Starting point is 00:54:56 We met on a dating app. We met on Hinge. Love that. And you guys, you know more than anyone how hard, like I was like dating. I was open to it. I was out there. I wasn't really like on the apps, but I was on the apps, but I wasn't like actually on the apps. And then my girlfriend, you actually know her.
Starting point is 00:55:18 She works on the morning show with me, Sierra. Yeah. Saw him on my Hinge profile, and she was like, he seems good. Like, let's actually go out with him. So technically I actually met her friend on his. Yeah, there you go. Well, I met her brother. It started with her friend.
Starting point is 00:55:34 It wasn't even with her. I met it. Yeah, the conversation pretty much started with Sierra. But when I messaged Jessica for the first time, she didn't know how to respond to me. so her brother was responding to me on her Instagram. Yes. That's even weirder.
Starting point is 00:55:53 But it's like whatever, it is what it is. Because I think initially you don't really know you have like, you're just kind of like, what is this? This is a total stranger danger. And then I went out with him kind of just like, I'm just trying to like, you know, get myself back out there. I met him at 5.30. And I was like, blind in New York the next day.
Starting point is 00:56:10 So like it'll be quick, whatever. She thought she was going to be like in and out in 20 minutes, half an hour. have a drink and we yeah go home pack be done yeah i'm not even kidding you when i sat down at this bar it was like instant chemistry we talked straight for like five hours i looked it was like 1030 i was like oh my god i still need to pack and go to bed uh and like i actually what's so crazy is i was going to new york the next day and i had a date in new york with someone else wow i kept thinking about him the whole time i just like wanted to hang out with him want to be with him and yeah wow the uh the side of this is, I don't know if you knew this, but Tanya, I honestly believe this.
Starting point is 00:56:51 Still this day is probably the most quoted person that I quote in my life. I was able to interview Tanya for my book, you know, alone in plain sight. And I did a whole, I was thinking about somebody at the time that was single, that didn't want to be single, that was looking for a relationship, that was going to be an incredible partner to somebody, and just had it found that right person and i was like tanya fits all of those for me like all of those so she was nice enough to give us some time and allow us to interview her for it and she has one thing that she says that continues to come up in my life because people ask me hey how did you meet jess if you're if i'm single like what do i do about it and tanya said this simple thing she says
Starting point is 00:57:33 just don't stop dating like live an adventure have good dates have bad dates like put yourself out there until you find that person that slows life down and And it's cool to see you guys together now. No pressure on that. But it's just cool to see that, like, that date that, you know, like when Tanya's placidiv out there ends up with you guys on this show with us, it's pretty cool. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:56 It's really crazy. It's like very. Sorry, go ahead. It's very, it's one of those things where, like, yeah, I didn't stop putting myself out there. But you kind of just like, sometimes you just go through the motions. And then it's like, you just kind of stop me in my tracks. And I was like, what the hell? Hi, Rodney.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Hi. Hello. This is that unfortunate time to meet me. I know. Well, yeah, I know. But also so, like, upset that, like, we all couldn't get together out here. It was, like, looking forward to it for so long. But we'll make it out somewhere else sometime soon.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Yeah, before you know, and I'll be in a better state, hopefully. Great. How are you feeling? Not so great. Not so great. But we have a couple questions that we're asking, like, all the couples. and I thought that because we have like a pop culture expert here, we would ask you guys this.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Yeah, I'm like, maybe not Robbie. Okay, this one is Tony. Everybody that I mentioned, he's like, who is that? Yeah. Okay, well, let's do two celebrity questions. One, anybody would be able to answer, and that is who's your celebrity hall pass? This is for you guys and for Ben and Jess.
Starting point is 00:59:05 And we don't like hall passes here, but like, we can get a kiss. I've talked about hall houses. Who can you make out with? Yeah, I could answer. I'll break the ice here. And she knows this. There's really two in my life that I've always had a thing for.
Starting point is 00:59:23 One is Emma Watson. Which just kind of looks like has that look. Oh, thank you. She's pretty here. And then Jennifer Aniston has just always like, I don't know what it is. I'm just like, how to do it? Yeah. So those two.
Starting point is 00:59:40 those two really have always been in my life and i had a jennifer aniston i think poster growing up and so that just sticks in my head and if he gets a shot with either of them i wouldn't be mad about it that would be pretty much so what about you um harry styles yeah he's my biggest crush yeah harry styles and zach out of ben higgins but yeah harry styles i don't know i'm gonna go you know i'm gonna say Because I always say that, I say you resemble him. It's not about me. Right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:16 Oh, okay. Robbie's cute. For sure, for sure. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't really have a slumbergress. I mean, back in the day, no, I probably don't. Oh, yeah. I don't hear you're going to say.
Starting point is 01:00:30 Who am I going to say? Yeah, well, so like back in the day, growing up, Cindy Crawford was like my thing. Okay. I was like, okay. No? No, yeah, of course. And probably today, I don't know. And probably today, I don't know, Margo Roby.
Starting point is 01:00:52 Yeah, you're close. We get who you're saying. Hey, before we let you guys go, because I know you got a baby. Oh, hey, I think that's endearing. And I appreciate that. I think so, too. And Tanya, you kind of look like her. So y'all are on the track.
Starting point is 01:01:09 Then Tanya has that look. So that makes sense. Yeah. Now, before we let you guys go, I do want to know, has it been difficult at all? Tanya, you obviously have a very large platform with scrubbing in and your radio show to be dating with people kind of watching it from a microscope or watching it from a distance because people were very invested into your love life for a long time. I mean, it was not only a segment on, if not, it might be the most popular morning show in the country, probably, or at least up there. It was a segment. So, like, has it been hard for you guys or weird or awkward?
Starting point is 01:01:48 I'll let him answer that, but I'll let you answer it. Well, there's two very different sides to this answer. No, you can add. Well, okay, so for me, you guys know me. I'm like a open book. Like, I will say I'll do whatever. And so I think what I realized, especially like with dating him, I've had to set boundaries in that world. But I think for me, it's such a beautiful relationship that I have with all of my listeners, like the scrub sisters and the morning show listeners.
Starting point is 01:02:16 It's such like a beautiful relationship. I don't really get negativity. It's all like encouragement and love. And so for me, it's like I just want to keep people hopeful because I was dating for seven years and dating like loser after loser and like getting my heart ripped open. And then, like, I like people to keep hopeful. Do you know what I mean? And it's like, I like to share that story. And so for me, it's a little bit different.
Starting point is 01:02:40 For him, he's not used to it. And so I think initially it was, like, very intimidating or scary. Can I ask you a question, though? But doesn't it also create some pressure for you, the publicity? Even though everyone is so positive, even though everyone is so supportive of you, doesn't like... No, because I'm, like, I'm obsessed with you. Okay. So I'm like a very private person, not public at all.
Starting point is 01:03:01 and so that was like a very big issue in our relationship at the beginning how does that work and what does that look like and how comfortable I so yeah I was very uncomfortable with for a long time I'm still like not fully comfortable with it but we've talked about it a lot and and over time I've kind of a little bit more a little bit more comfortable her I'll say her fans her community like the people who watch the morning show the the the the the the the the the podcast podcast listeners, listen to the Mordejo, the podcast listeners, they're like the most supportive community out there. So it's like actually like a very positive, uh, like we were swimming in Hawaii. We're like in the ocean, right? Like in Hawaii on vacation. And these two girls come swimming up to us and they're like, Tanya, we're scrubbers. We love the podcast. Oh my gosh, it's Red Star. We love you. Like they were so sweet and like just, I don't know, like, and that's the interaction. And so it's like, It's nice because that's what I'm used to. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:04:04 Like that's the interaction that I'm used to. So I think for some people, I think it's kind of like you see all the like negativity on the internet and you get like freaked out by it. But it's like really the opposite. Yeah. Awesome. Well,
Starting point is 01:04:16 well, we appreciate the both of you. Thank you for coming on. Have a great time in Napa. Celebrate from a distance for us. We told everybody please send us pictures. Yeah, keep sending photos. Enjoy time.
Starting point is 01:04:26 From dinner. Definitely a bottle of wine and no honor a day. Yeah. Thank you guys. Have a great time. So we love you. Love you. Bye.
Starting point is 01:04:34 So Asch is a trooper here. Now, I want to pause. Yeah, I'm not being like totally unprofessional about eating macaroni and cheese during this. It's just if I don't eat every two hours, I get really sick. Oh, hey, we get it. And God, keep doing you, kid. So before we bring on our final guest of the evening, which is somebody very special, and we don't do it yet, we are going to mention two more sponsors.
Starting point is 01:04:53 And then I know, and I would love if we could. I mean, we booked this thing out with guests, which can be good and bad. They're all going over. I'd love to give Jessica just an opportunity to talk about her excitement for the wedding and some of the details that she's comfortable sharing. It would be, I think it would be a great, just time for her. So let's talk about our last two sponsors, give Jessica her moment here because I want her to do that. I'm excited to hear that. As we showed you earlier, Chaser Clothing supported this podcast, live podcast episode, timeless pieces and new classics.
Starting point is 01:05:24 Do you have the shirt right here? You want to hold it up? Yep. Um, with the softest, uh, designs made in Los Angeles and inspired by icons. Chaser is consistently looking forward, uh, to the future. And that's something incredible there. And then laundress, uh, founded by two female textile experts with backgrounds and fashion. The laundress helps you take exceptional care of your clothes with their expert detergents. We have them. When I open it up, Jessica goes, well, those are so nice. And fabric care. Go to the laundress.com to buy some. It's worth it. It's going to help you keep your clothes nice. I think they have specific ones for yoga pants to keep the stretch in color. Sweet. All right. So Wells is now here, but we're going to still give Jessica her moment.
Starting point is 01:06:06 Wells, if you don't mind, I would love for us to talk a little bit about our wedding details. You share whatever you want about yours. Then in a second, Wells, thanks for coming on. But Jessica, take it away. Well, our wedding is in November. Pandemic permitting, we'll have all of our friends and family there. If not, we'll still get married on that day. But right now, the wedding itself is going to be basically just a big party.
Starting point is 01:06:33 The ceremony is under a tip, which is like my only thing was I wanted some part of the wedding under a tint. I don't know why. And twinkle lights. There's twinkle lights everywhere. Like, it looks like a fairy garden at the reception. Hopefully. That's the dream. But, yeah, it's going to be, the ceremony will be really sweet.
Starting point is 01:06:53 and kind of just, I don't know, that'll be more reverend, I guess. And then the reception is just going to be, we have the best band ever, nonstop dancing, partying. It would be great. And a theme? Because I was asking Ben the theme, and he wasn't like 100% sure. Yeah, it's not really like a theme. It's more just like, I don't know. I don't want to say like carnival.
Starting point is 01:07:23 It's not a carnival. at all but it is like very fun like it's very light-headed yeah keeping it casual will be the best thing for us we've been to a lot of weddings and we've kind of pick and chosen what represents us best and for us it was like hey we want this to be a fun atmosphere for all involved so anybody that comes can leave going hand really glad i came to this uh we are one unique thing that we haven't talked about yet that i think would be cool to share is we're having um three different pastors uh stand with us at the wedding because i have my childhood pastor she has hers and then we have a pastor uh that kind of has been around us as we've dated and grew grown in our relationship.
Starting point is 01:07:59 And so we thought it was important to have them all involved, which I think is really cool. And I'm really excited for that. And our wedding hashtag, because that is something we promised to share. And then we're going to get to Wells is Benny and the Jess. Benny and the Jess. Oh, that's so cute. Yes, we love Benny and the Jess. We also love Get Higgy with it.
Starting point is 01:08:19 So we won't be mad with either of them. Yeah. So we're going to choose between those two. So if you have a vote, please write in right now to the comments about what you vote for. All right. Hey, thank you for giving us that moment. It was forward to do that. Wells Adams, the star of the Bachelor franchise right now.
Starting point is 01:08:36 One of the kings of the world, amazingly good looking, incredibly talented. Very, very good golfer. In fact, in my bachelor party, Wells and I bet on our round, and he kind of smoked me. I think it was a three-stroke lead going into 18. Wells, in fact, you know, here is a two-stroke league going into 18. Nobody really cares about golf that much on this podcast. But I'd love for you to tell the audience how the last hole ended and then, yeah. Well, I was over-served that day.
Starting point is 01:09:12 The cart girl gave me too many fireball shots. so I blame I blame her and I think I suck like a 30 foot putt for birdie to win and then I proceeded to take my shirt off and run around the green yelling like in your face pet so that effect so what he's missing out on and I know this isn't that exciting what he's missing out on is he was up one stroke on me going into 18 I was wrong I made a birdie from like so Wells hits his 30 footer for Bertie and at that point it clinches the match. I have like a 10 footer that I still have for Bertie. I make my and as he runs around with his shirt off, it's my bachelor party. Don't forget. I'm just like, yes. Like incredible round. Awesome. Nobody high fies me. Wells is taking the attention away from me. It's absolutely insane. Not fun at all. But hey, the bachelor party was great. Wells, what's going on with your wedding in your life? You have so much happening right now. spew away we want to catch up with you first of all i'm so sorry i did that but um yeah i had a great
Starting point is 01:10:26 time uh i just want you to know that and uh i fully expect during my bachelor party for you to beat me on the golf course and run around and uh do all that stuff take your shirt off let everyone see what you got working um in terms of my uh in terms of my wedding i don't know we were supposed to have it i can now tell kind of everyone what was really supposed to have We were supposed to be married on 8-8-2020. And like Sarah was like super pumped about this date. Here's the thing that I didn't realize until I got engaged. Like dates really, really matter.
Starting point is 01:11:04 And so she was like super pumped about that. And like Jupiter was in the right spot over Mercury and things were retroglading. I don't know what was happening. And then that got pushed, unfortunately. And then we were supposed to get married tomorrow, actually. Oh, my gosh. And, yeah, it's weird, looking at the calendar. Tomorrow was supposed to be the rescheduled date, and the venue was like,
Starting point is 01:11:34 we're only going to allow like a handful of people because of COVID restrictions. And we are like, we have more friends than that. And so we had to push it again. And so it's looking like it's either going to be a, a Vegas situation, or it's going to be, we're going to just do it up next year. And I'm thinking next year is probably what we're going to do. I'm sorry, buddy. That's not easy.
Starting point is 01:12:00 That sucks. As the resident bartender, what member of Bachelor Nation do you think is going to be the most drunk at Ben and Jess's wedding? A good question. Me. Okay, that's a decent answer. And Sarah, Sarah will be right there doing the chicken dance with me. I apologize in advance to your friends and family, guys.
Starting point is 01:12:30 No, my family will be right there with you. I can promise you that. They'll be wrong. Here's something I want to ask from you, Wells, because one of the questions I was sending in is what your celebrity hall pass is. And, well, I think you were Sarah's, and I think, no and i want to answer this question it's a good question okay what is it well so it's funny so right now then it just announced it today so i can say so sarah's in um this isn't my hall pass but this is
Starting point is 01:13:00 a funny story um so sarah's in Toronto filming a movie with dylan spruce who um is uh in a relationship with barbara palvin who's a very attractive like uh victoria secret model and so she was telling me that she was like having, she was going to have like romantic scenes with Dylan and the director wanted her and him to get together and like, basically like practice chemistry, like a chemistry read together to make sure that like it was going to look good on screen or whatever. And so she's telling me all of this. And so then I was like, so I think that what needs to happen is that I Barbara and I need to talk
Starting point is 01:13:46 and we have good chemistry that's not how it works and I said that's how it should work that's awesome that's amazing you know my my one story of Dylan and is it you said what's her first name Barbara Barbara
Starting point is 01:14:06 is I was watching an interview with him last year and she was prepping for the Victoria Secret Show and they're like we've been trying to get really healthy both for them. They're both getting prepped for the show and they're like all we've been eating is like salads and cauliflower and broccoli and I remember her going so the whole house just smells like nasty farts and I remember being like whoa like this will never get on my head like it was like one of the first times that I thought well this really attractive person is just walk around the house the two of them both of them very attractive
Starting point is 01:14:35 just letting it lose that's just my only story from them okay wells what relationship do you have advice do you have for Jess and I that you've learned in your relationship with Sarah? I don't know. I think it's important to, like, continually be creating, like, fun and exciting, like, dates. I think that's the one thing that I, and also during the pandemic, it was hard to, like, get out. But, like, I wanted to always, like, cure. rate like fun little weird dates that like were uh memory savers like memory keepers um so i think that's always it's it's so easy like fall into that like routine and everything's the same and it starts to get a little boring um and so that's one and the other one that sarah and i do and here look actually
Starting point is 01:15:34 uh you can see these are a couple of them every time we because we aren't around each other a lot because she flies away for work and sometimes I do as well. And we are really good about we hide notes for one another. No, that's so cute. In, like, very obscure places. And I think that's fun because, you know, it's sad to leave, but it's also, like, fun and exciting to, like, find the card and read what they wrote. But we're starting to, like, really morph into the same person.
Starting point is 01:16:06 And I had found a card. We say, like, I love you to Pluto and back a lot to each other. So I found a card that says, I love you to the moon and back. And I was like, this is perfect. Oh, my God. And so I gave it to her. And she found hers before I found mine for this most recent trip. And she's going to be like, you're never going to believe my card.
Starting point is 01:16:28 You're going to roll your eyes. And so I found the card in the sock drawer. And it wasn't the same card, but it said, I love you to the moon in back. And I was just like, this is insane. And then we wrote the exact same thing. like almost to a tea because we're like going on vacation after this. So it was like, I know like a, I'm going to hug and kiss the dogs for you and they're going to miss you, but don't worry.
Starting point is 01:16:50 I'm going to take good care of them. And hers was like, make sure you give the dogs all the love and I miss you so much. And then mine was like, but don't worry. When you come back, we're going to go on a vacation together. It's be so amazing. It's be so romantic. And then it was like, I can't wait to come back because then we're going to this vacation. I was like, oh, shit, we're the same person.
Starting point is 01:17:07 That's really cute. Now, Wells, I'll tell you. this, and Jessica and I both agree, you know, when people ask about our time on the, my time on the show, we always, and most people do, but we always talk about some of the people that came from the show that we've met that have enhanced our lives. You're one of those. Ashley's one of those, Jared, and all the people that came on tonight is one of those, but you're an incredible dude. I get to see you very soon, I think. And I'm very excited about that. Very excited about that. But we just appreciate you. Okay, before we go, everybody's going to just absolutely
Starting point is 01:17:40 destroy us if we don't ask you for a one-sentence snippet of what we can expect from Bachelor in Paradise. Well, I think I teased it. I don't know if I teased on, no, I haven't been on your guys' podcast since I got back. So every year in Paradise, the same kind of things happen. Some people are like dating before the show and like that's an issue and we get there and people aren't there for the right reasons and that's an issue or some people are like kind of using people just to get roses because they're waiting for someone else to come in and
Starting point is 01:18:13 that's a problem. And all that to be said, like, yes, all that stuff happens, but something happens this season that has never happened before. And I think that a bachelor nation is going to be like completely shocked. And when it happened, I was, I was blown away by it. And it was something that I had to deal with, um, being the master of ceremonies now that, uh, that was tough. And so I think that everyone is going to be in, and I know that like we've fallen to the same like, you know, bachelor cliches of like, it's going to be the most dramatic. And I won't say it's going to be the most dramatic, but something happens that literally has just never happened before and people are just going to be like jaws in the floor shock. Wow. That's a great teaser.
Starting point is 01:19:00 It's a great teaser. You're the man. Well, uh, Wells, thanks for joining. us appreciate you see you very soon thanks buddy yeah buddy i love you guys i miss you so much um all right first off i have we're going to close out here thank you to all those who watched uh thank you to those who supported me and aope united i am so excited to marry oh stop you guys are so cute she's just the best she's the best partner in the world it's so fun to celebrate it is so exciting um actually we're we're thankful for you because i know you sat through this you have a lot going on in your life that's exciting no this is about you guys but i'm so pumped to marry this girl and when anybody asks me it just feels very peaceful very joy filled um she's my best friend
Starting point is 01:19:50 she's super incredible to me nobody gets to see behind the scenes um but she's she's the best partner and she makes me a better man um actually um um actually um um we have a couple questions i know we have about a minute left if you want to like maybe ask two of them um that have been sent in that would be an awesome way to end this okay um this is so sweet um oh yeah are you guys going to go away for a honeymoon yes we are and yeah i don't know i don't think we need to keep it a secret right no we know we're going to go to uh st barts um We wanted to go someplace reasonably close to the U.S. because we imagine ourselves being very tired.
Starting point is 01:20:36 And we're going to do a big trip to Israel in March of next year. And so we're just going to go to St. Barton and be there for a week to an incredible resort that we'll announce pretty soon. But we're super excited for that. Yeah. So excited. That's awesome. Yes. And you're going to go right away?
Starting point is 01:20:55 We're taking a day, rest. Because we have to leave like 6 a.m. That's going to flyed out. And I was like, I ain't not getting up to 6, 8, like 4 a.m. After wedding. So. No. A day in between is perfect.
Starting point is 01:21:08 And then what is your faith like going to look like as a married couple? Is it going to be any different? Our faith life? Yeah. It's something that. You know what I ask to answer that? I think it's going to be stronger. I think that we'll come together and will be better as a team.
Starting point is 01:21:26 I feel like that's the goal of marriage is. to make a larger impact together. Yeah, and that's something that I think we both need. And it's never been a secret that Jesus is at the center of our relationship. But we always, and when we pray at night together, we're dinner, it's our prayer because there's a lot of complexity I know right now within the church. Our only prayer is that we love people well and that we represent God well. And together, I think we can hold ourselves accountable to that, support each other
Starting point is 01:21:52 in that. And if that's at the end of our time and life, and if that's what we're known for is that we loved others well, then I think as a couple, it's going to be worth it. Hey, Ashley, there is one last question that Danielle sent in here that we can close with. But yeah, I appreciate that question. It's incredibly, it's something we talk about a lot. And I'm really excited to have a teammate and all of it and start creating some good stories around that. Okay, last question from Danielle is what's been your favorite part of being engaged and what are you looking most forward to about being married um i love calling ben my fiancee i just think it's so fun it's like the shortest i love
Starting point is 01:22:35 my ring that's been a really fun part of being engaged um and honestly for engagement i think it's there's so many excuses to see all the people that you love they're like showers like this like being able to even though we're not with you but to be able to see your face like this wouldn't happen who weren't engaged so um his bachelor party having all this friends in one place my bachelor having all my friends just all the celebration i think it's such a special time our pastor today at pre-mailor counseling was like the only time you have all the people around you ever that you love is your wedding and so it's so stressful when it's over you're like that i'm already sad for yeah but yeah that and then being married i think just being able to
Starting point is 01:23:21 come home every day to my best friend and being able to just rest with one another and I don't know just enjoy enjoy life together grow together yeah I'm I think I find like and it just might be my oddness about me like I'm really excited for marriage because I just I'm excited to get to know Jess better and it's odd I don't know if you felt this way or if other engaged couples feel this way but the more I've been around one human who I've tried and my best to let in the more I've learned about myself. And so I'm kind of just excited to continue to learn about me and also learn about her and just do this life together. So, well, thank you again. I know we've said it before. Thank you. What a cool way to do this. I wish we could all be together. We are going to get
Starting point is 01:24:12 together. This was an odd deal. I can't tell you enough to all he was watching how hectic last night it was for us and how confusing it was. But this worked out awesome. And I hope everybody in Napa is having a great time at all the places that supported the trip. You'll see probably a ton of Instagram pictures posted. Ashley even had to take a break from this podcast to go get some food and to go relieve the stomach pains that she was in.
Starting point is 01:24:38 And she jumped back on here with a smile on her face, which is just the pro that she is. So, hey, that's it, though. Thanks for celebrating Jess and I. And Ashley and Jared, wherever he's at in the world right now, congratulations once again. Well, it's going to be a fun year. Happy engagement to you guys. Enjoy the time that you have left. And we have plenty of wedding advice to give you at some point, too.
Starting point is 01:25:02 Because a lot about that day in order to suck it up the best to your ability. Perfect. All right. Bye guys. See you all. See you. Everybody watching. Follow the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast.
