This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeart Radio.
This is the almost famous podcast.
It's a big episode.
Well, it is mental all.
And Ashley and I have been honest in the past that this is not one of our favorite episodes.
But we are here to break it down with all of you, talk about.
some of the stuff that stood out to us, some of the stuff that maybe was confusing, but it's a big
episode, not because of Mintel. It's because Ashley is joining us today. Yes, this is how committed
she is to speaking with myself and all of you. After a massive night, Ashley was reliving
her teenage years. Well, really, she's just reliving her life last night. This is my life.
It's really no reliving. It's been a constant. We took like a six-year break. What did you do
last night, Ash. Last night, I got to go to the Jonas Brothers concert at Yankee Stadium with my
sister and my two best friends. And we haven't done a concert the four of us. Oh my gosh. In a really
long time, right guys? We were just debriefing about our night. We were having like the post
concert, the post-drunk night recap where you're like, I did that. I said that. I had the funniest
clips of myself saying the stupidest things um just like you know i was like you know what i think i
thought i was going to grow up and be like yeah nick was the hottest one but i no still 35 think
that chose the hottest one like this is our conversation last night and this morning it's just
classic drunken girl talk like i definitely had too much to drink last night i never admit that
because I usually don't ever go overboard.
Never.
We just had a grand old time.
It was just I had a Long Island iced tea that really put me over the edge.
I had to like sit down for a second.
You know what a Long Island iced tea is, right?
It's basically straight up alcohol.
There's like no gillars.
It's like a little flavoring maybe to mix it up.
Here's my question, Ashley.
I want to dive into this concert a little bit with you.
One, it's definitely doing this guys because we have like nothing to speak about
about this episode because it's there's nothing to have.
happens except for Gary it's all about Gary that's not true Gary a little brain stuff we do have
some stuff to talk about but I do want to jump into this concert because I find it entertaining and
amusing I also want to comment that behind you right now is a Harry Styles poster so we are really
living the teenage girl dream now okay I have a couple things I just got back from my workout
class my workout classes I've said before um
It is full of women.
It is 95% women.
I love it because it's like heated yoga and weightlifting and Pilates.
It feels really good on my knee.
But over the years of doing this,
I've made some friends in the class who were consistent goers.
One of my friends just got back yesterday
from going to the Taylor Swift concert at SoFi.
Voice is completely lost talking about the screaming and the crying and the yelling.
She's 30 years old or at least close to it.
So in your world, Ashley, the Jonas brothers are obviously a big part of that,
the backstreet boys are in sync and all that.
How does the Jonas brothers and Taylor Swift compare?
Like, catch me up.
If you're my daughter and I'm your father and you're explaining to me like the difference
between the two right now and like the age group and how people react, help me understand.
The age group is probably pretty similar as far as like the core audience goes.
However, so everybody, like I think like the people.
people who grew up with it all.
So, like, the ones who've been through it all with the band, you know, grown up with the band.
You just said that so, like, passionately, like, the ones that grew up with the band, like, the ones, the ones that know the band.
Like, so almost famous, like, the movie.
They're probably, like, late 20s to, like, early to close to mid-30s.
And, okay, I think I speak for all joint fans.
of that age group when I say that like we needed the Jonas brothers as just like that boy band outlet like somebody really cute to scream at and just like have wild nights with our girlfriends and that was more of like our social musical artists but Taylor Swift was our private musical artist who we were we needed her in moments of vulnerability by ourselves in our cars in our apartments and stuff.
Like, we just really need, we needed her as, like, a personal friend.
This is touching on something.
Okay.
So you're telling me, like, this, that, you know, obviously Taylor Swift's on tour.
I just want to say publicly.
Taylor's audience is all ages.
Sure.
But kudos to Taylor.
I did hear she gave a bunch of money to everybody at works on her tour.
That was a big deal.
I just, I don't know, you know, I don't listen to Taylor Swift.
I don't know the music.
I don't listen to the Jonas brothers.
But I have been over the last couple weeks, following.
the Taylor Swift tour, mostly because it's been so popular, so talked about. And I've seen
friends of mine, especially in social media, freak out, like become different humans. And I,
and I was confused why. I thought, honestly, my cynicism said it's an act. Like, they're just doing
this because everybody's doing it. But what you're telling me, but what you're telling me, let me finish
this thought. But let me finish my thought here. What you're telling me is Taylor
Swift has this connection with her audience because you would sit in your car or you would sit
in your bedroom or you would sit in wherever you're at and you would scream out the lyrics to her
song. You would cry with her on these songs. You would relate with her in some of your
hardest moments. This was your breakup music. This was your like healing music. This was your
I just need a friend music. Like this music, that's why everybody's freaking out publicly because
they've done it so many times
alone. Possibly. It's a good
point. It's a really, really good point.
Yes. Her music
has been just our best friend
through all of our emotions,
especially those rocky 20-something
emotions when you're trying to figure out your life.
Yeah. And I
yeah, yeah,
it's just like I don't think you get more intimate
with music than you do with Taylor's.
It was like such a crutch
at certain times of my life when I'm like thinking back on like, you know, my hardest like
dating moments. I don't have memories of music that weren't Taylor's. Like I have like visual
moments of myself like in my apartment singing her songs and being like how did she go through
the exact same thing I'm going through. It's so nice to kind of tie it into a theme that you're
very familiar with. Just like not be alone in this. Yeah, definitely. I mean, it makes sense not to me a little
bit. This morning when I was trying to break down and understand the Taylor Swift craze in this
last concert, there was a lot of comments from my friend in class to, there's myself and there's a
lady who's probably in her late 50s, and we both were kind of trying to understand. And she would
say, it's just a Taylor thing. Like, if you wouldn't, it's hard for me to explain because it's just
a Taylor thing. And I didn't understand it. So the Jonas brothers and all these other
boy bands they filled a role for you where they were like an outlet to scream at and be like
oh my gosh they're so attractive oh they're so cute i love like just being near them like they
were more of that was definitely like a parisocial relationship where it was just like i must date
them because like this quality or that quality it was way more about just it was just it was just
fun it's just i don't know i just like every girl kind of like me it's the outlet like like
of this celebrity crush outlet
because I think like kind of important
sometimes because it just lets you dream
and the other
and like it makes you escape from reality
but it also like gives you like hope
like you really truly can believe that it'll happen
yeah like every girl there
is thinking like when they're
when they were younger I have a shot
or what if I did have a shot
that okay I'm following here
so in
okay to close this whole conversation up in your now 30s as you go to a Jonas brothers concert with
your friends and your sister probably a very similar crew that used to screen that's why it was so
meaningful we got the original crew that we used to go all over the northeast with back for this
what's the emotions like is it similar is it now just enjoyment is it laughing at your younger
yourselves like what what what how does it feel waking up the next day and going uh we were just
at a Jonas brother's concert are you still crushing are you still dreaming or is it just now
laughing and enjoying memories most of it is basically just laughing at our past completely and like
all the antics that we we did back in the day um just to like get close to them yeah and then it's a lot
of like part of the music you know is obviously nostalgic and it like brings you right back
when you're standing in that concert then you surround by everybody else going through the same
feelings and then like the new music and the happiness begins album which is probably my
favorite of all their albums musically wow it's obviously just like you know great to hear
because like I love those songs truly yeah and then yeah I don't know it's really just it's
to now it's a girl's night out I think it's like just perfect girls night out
I feel like kind of pretend in your head that you are the fantasy of it is still there it's just an escape yeah the fantasy of it is still there um I'm taking uh Jessica to Ed Shearin here in a couple weeks or geez less than a week in Denver and I think it's the same thing for her I think Ed Shearin was not only her Taylor Swift growing up but he was also the the dream like I think he held both roles yeah no she she has like a crush on
crush on Ed Shearim.
Yeah.
She's not alone.
Lots of girls do.
Yeah.
That's so funny because, yeah, when I think of Ed Shearer, I think of him feeling more of a
Taylor role.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I think he holds both for some.
And I think my wife's one of those.
I don't know.
I'm going to find out.
This is weird for me.
So for her, going to Ed Shearin is not going to be like, just like, oh, I like
his music.
Like, I want to see him live because apparently, you know, he plays these stadiums,
which it's crazy because you never think of like Ed Shearin's music, most of it as being
stadium music but it's cool because he like apparently just goes out with a guitar and just
stands in the center and it's just like so acoustic and simple surrounded by like you know 80,000
people. I have no idea. And in fact, I am going to put myself up for in my mind, I'm husband
of the year. Like in my mind, I'm going to this concert. And I don't hate any of his songs. In fact,
I enjoy that kind of music.
I enjoy the, like, the Ed Shearons, the John Mayors.
Yeah.
Like, I like that music.
I just, I think I'm husband of the year.
At least I'm going to tell myself that.
I feel like I need that in my life.
It's okay.
Jared has been husband in the year when he's gone to Jonas concerts with me.
And he's gone to a number now throughout the years.
And I used to, oh my gosh, in my 20-something brain, be like, how can a girl ever take a guy to a
Jonas concert. And now that he's my husband and I'm much happier with him that I would ever be
with any of them. I love having him there to see just how everybody reacts. And he says that like
being at a Jones brother concert is one of like the happiest places on earth. Well,
I need to call Jared this week. To relate this back to The Bachelor, the reason that we're talking about
this obviously is because Ashley did just attend a Jonas Brothers concert. Ed Shearhan did have a place in
my life during my time on The Bachelorette.
Did he sing on your season? We didn't realize.
No, he did not sing on the season.
He was still, he was way big then.
He was so big.
You know, when you're on the Bachelorette, you don't have access to media of any kind.
You don't have internet.
You don't have a computer.
You don't have a phone.
You don't have a book.
You really don't have much to do other than talk with each other and play a bunch of cards,
mostly cards against humanity back then.
But I bet we live.
listen to thinking out loud by Ed Shearing. That was kind of our song on our season. That was your
song. That was our song. Somebody said that. Yeah, it was on the bus. It would be played. We would
have a producer play it on their phone. We knew every word. Every word. We would all sing it
together. And it was, it was odd, Ash. Like it was, it's a good song. But I remember moments when I
was missing home or I was missing friends or things weren't going, you know, well during that season.
And it's a long journey.
And what, you know, viewers don't get to see is there's a lot of long bus rides and a lot of long flights and a lot of time sitting in silence alone and just kind of processing.
That song at some point turned to me to be a very emotional song because it was the only music I could hear.
And then I started to relate with it.
And as the group, I have this vivid memory.
We're heading back from one of our first dates in a.
bus. And all these guys are singing this song. The unity moment. Yeah. And I remember looking around and
be like, this is a moment I want to remember. No matter what, like, this is a good moment because I'll never
have this again. Uh, I don't know how long this is going to last. At this point, it was still early on.
It was in, um, we were in San Antonio at the time, but I remember this vivid memory of sitting in the
back of the bus looking around of all these guys from all these different places in the world with all
these different personalities, guys who have fought with each other, guys who don't like each other,
which we'll get, we'll get into with the brain situation. But we're all singing one song together
as like 25 to 35 year old men. And I was like, this is a good moment. This is sacred. Like,
this is a moment I want to hold on to. That's another almost famous movie moment. You're right.
Yeah. Right. Yeah. And then just to tie that with Taylor and really make
a full circle moment.
Taylor's 1989 album was about to come out when I was on Crystal's season.
Okay.
Came out about five days, I think, after I was eliminated.
And I kept thinking, I was like, you know what?
I'm eliminated, but now I get to listen to Taylor's album when it comes out.
Isn't that amazing?
Yeah, that was, that was fun.
It's truly one of the first things I thought about.
And the girls, the single, was Shake It Off.
Okay.
And I remember being on the camping trip, and we had the producers play Shake It Off,
I don't even know if they played it
because we all just knew it by heart already
and we were dancing around
in our bathing suits, kicking our legs
like doing the shake it off
arm and then when I was on Jimmy
Kimmel talking about
the Badlands, you know, he had me sing
Shake It Off because he was referring to Kelsey
in the Badlands and he's like, what are you going to do?
And I was like, shake, shake it off.
See? Music has a special
place.

Attention passengers.
The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this.
Do this, pull that, turn this.

What would you do if one bad day,
decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp
designed to be hell on earth. Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced.
He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also
known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military
basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life.
emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months.
The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you.
And we didn't know what to expect in the morning.
Nobody tells you anything.

I'm glad that you went to the concert last night.
I'm glad you're here with us today.
We do need to jump into Mintel awe.
Ashley, you know, I do think we're a little bit just, I don't want to say sad.
This week isn't one that we look forward to because we're, as we mentioned last week,
we're so engaged in now the love story.
and the journey, that this feels like an odd break.
It does feel like a filler to us.
However, we did have the big announcement of Gary coming on, you know,
national television for the first time.
As the Golden Bachelor, I think that's a big announcement.
I still will put my, if I was a betting man, which I am,
I would say that show is going to do well.
It should do well.
I think the show has the potential to do really,
well. After watching it last night, though, our producer, Amy, called. I said, Amy, I'm bummed now.
You did? Yeah, she called me and I said, I'm bummed. I'm really bummed. I know I've said it. I was going
from the stance of begging to pleading to saying, hey, I'd really like to be involved. I think it's
going to be a good show. I feel like this is the only show that fits me well. To now, I'm just
bummed because I don't get why I'm not being at all on the show. Like,
I have no idea.
Do you want to be honest about the fact,
are you open to being honest?
Sure.
I don't,
honest with what.
Well, tell them exactly what's going to happen.
Yeah,
I mean,
I've just gotten like,
I've gotten teased.
Like,
hey,
yeah,
we're going to have you involved.
Hey,
we're going to have you around.
And then nothing.
And they've asked you for specific things.
And then nothing.
And then it.
Part of episodes and then they cancel on you.
Yeah.
It's really weird to me.
And I'm really sad about it.
That never happened before where you've been canceled on by them so many times?
Uh,
no,
because I never get asked for anything.
Ben, you have come back for plenty of things.
But year afterwards, when I was like under contract, I haven't been on.
Well, we were both on Matt season.
You were on Matt season.
I was on Matt season.
I think only because I was the only one that would quarantine a room for five days.
I'd only agree to quarantine for five days in some random resort that was beautiful in Pennsylvania.
But you know, you're only in the one room.
But not to make this, you know, but I'm just bum now.
I'm really sad because I don't think there is going to be an opportunity for me to be
involved in this in this show and he's from Indiana I've really you know we're 30 minutes from
each other before I even knew who it was I thought it was a great concept um I do secretly know
a few of the cast members how from Indiana they're oh they pulled women from Indiana they
couple of them yeah I have been reached out and kind of told nice and smart honestly because
that he's not going to leave that Indiana house.
No, it's very smart.
And so it just feels like if anything, like I would have loved to just be there and be like,
hey, how you holding up, bud?
Like, don't even put me on the television show.
I'm not saying that.
Like, I'm saying I just would like to be around for his experience because I'm invested
into it.
Well, Ben feels like he's, you know, in the middle of a toxic relationship.
I do, I do.
I do think that, and I know it sounds like we're like, you know, we talked about
this every week and all that but he he really means a lot to ben and it's not because ben wants to
be on tv like let's be clear about that this has nothing they don't have to show me on te tell
i said i'd work behind the scenes like i would do i don't know like be gary's personal like i'd be a
handler like i just i just want to you would be a great handler for him oh handlers are so
important on that show and they also um are a good support system because they're not producers
and they're not cast and you feel like i just would like to have been a
around to like encourage him wrong. So I'm bummed. I feel I think you're going to be part of like the
final rows like the top three. They would have to tell me very soon. I would say that. I'm leaving
but anyways. Oh, you're going to Italy. That's right. So yeah, so kind of a tough relationship right
now. But he was announced. I am still very excited for him. I'm just going to be a huge fan of this
season. I know you are as well. He did have some great moments. I, I, okay, you FaceTime me the other
night with a group of women that you went out with. And they had made the comment to me that I
haven't heard yet, but I haven't talked to many people about it. They said, Gary's hot.
Like, they were, and they're all like our age. Like, Gary is an attractive man. He is
very, as we spoke about, kind of naive about how much this is going to propel his life into
the spotlight. But he is an attractive man. And I think my sister says he's,
just never been more attracted to a bachelor before.
No way.
I take that personally.
I know.
I would take that person to it.
I'm like, Lauren, Ben, Nick, crystals.
Come on now.
I know I know you have been.
Yeah.
No, but I mean, so he has that kind of poll that we are wondering if he would have where
he is an attractive man.
And I think he shows up great on camera.
I thought he had a great couple moments on mental all.
He's endearing.
and I believe this could be a great love story.
So my question for you,
after seeing Gary on national television,
really for the first time,
are you as excited about this golden bachelor
as you were before?
Ben,
I could not be more excited.
I am stoked.
Totally genuinely,
if I didn't have,
we didn't have almost famous,
I would be so excited about this season.
I have friends who haven't watched the show in a while,
and they text me and they go,
when is this starting?
Because I'm very curious.
This man is everything we wanted to lead from the franchise.
When he was telling his story about his wife and how they bought their dream home.
And then she literally passes away within two weeks of them signing the purchase.
In a crazy way where she's like she had an infection.
they brought her he brought her to the emergency room and she was gone within a week i mean the way that
he spoke about it and he's so emotional and he seems so comfortable being emotional and i love that
and the way that he answers his questions are also perfect like like jesse asked him if he believes
in two loves of his life which is a sex in the city episode and it's it's great but but he
handled it so well he goes i don't think that this i'm looking for a love the way
I had with my wife.
You can definitely,
maybe I gathered it.
Like,
I think he's looking more of like for like an old end of life chapter companion, you know?
He wants,
he believes that he's going to be able to find somebody who's his perfect match.
But I definitely think that he's just going to think about the two hopefully wives,
totally separate for totally separate parts of life.
Like,
he just worded it so well and he's so emotional.
And he's so endearing and funny, like, he, I don't even, he, like, the, the funniness is,
like, half unintentional and the other half is, like, he's actually kind of a witty dude.
Yeah.
And he's going to be so dynamic on screen.
He's so full-rounded.
And, like, he comes with that confidence where he's like, I don't need to impress anyone.
This is just me because he's so much older than when we normally see is the lead.
I'm just so stoked.
This episode got me thrilled.
want everybody who's ever been a bachelor fan and they've kind of like given up on the show over
the years to just watch this clip like the five minutes in the men tell all so that they'll be
also excited for a new chapter of the franchise yeah a couple things there if everybody that
listens to this podcast weekly and we know our numbers watches the golden bachelor will have
probably better ratings than uh both bachelor and bachelor had seasons so uh if everybody here
if we can convince them to tune in.
And, you know, it's funny.
Yesterday, I played in a golf tournament
and I was in a group of five other guys.
And I was explaining to them the concept of the Golden Bachelor.
And they were like, that's a show I want to watch.
And, you know, there was some laughter to it too.
It's like, hey, you know, as we've kind of joked about,
like when's the last time you saw a 60-year-old,
like two-60-year-olds, like making out?
Like, you know, and they're like, yeah, that's wild.
but the story could be really intriguing.
I think this is going to go cross demographics.
It's going to bring in new viewership.
I'll put the bet down right now
that it has the potential to get more viewership
than The Bachelor or Bachelor it is getting right now.
I think it is going to bring back the old fans.
The time frame is concerning, though.
It is a 10 p.m. slot.
I think that we're just going to get a lot of people
streaming it. Sure. But I don't think it's going to stay in the 10 p.m. slot for long.
Yeah. I do think this could be a new thing. A few other comments based on what you were saying.
You know, I have a few examples in my life of people who have lost spouses. Two different
spectrums. One, my football coach in high school lost his wife suddenly to cancer at like 38 years old,
right? And they were deeply in love. And so then, um,
Two years later, maybe, he found a new partner,
somebody that came into his life, somebody he knew before,
and they got married.
And here's the beautiful thing to it.
They both run the foundation in his former wife, his memory.
They run a foundation together.
They put on events in her name.
And like, that's such a beautiful thing to think.
You know, I think that's what Gary was saying is
it doesn't have to be the same kind of love.
it doesn't have to be an equal amount of love.
It's, there's a love.
And the second side story I would share.
We kept talking about like wanting to just like wake up to somebody and feel whole again,
which I know a lot of people say like somebody shouldn't completely you or make you feel
whole.
You should feel like that by yourself.
But I just love the way that he's like kind of old school and traditional about that
thought.
Well, and if it's how he feels, it's how he feels.
It's the truth.
I mean, we can't say, hey, you're, you're not seeing the world correctly or hey, you
you aren't up with modern times. No, if that's what he wants and how he feels, that is how he should
live and what he should pursue. We are not here to criticize him on either way. The other one is my,
I have a great uncle who lost his wife suddenly after, jeez, 50 years of marriage just a few years
ago. And a few months later, he found a new partner that he's been dating or whatever, you know,
going to visit for the last like three years. And if you talk to him, it's because he says, I don't
want to be alone. Like, I don't, I, I like having, uh, somebody beside me. I like having somebody
to do things with. Like, it doesn't, you know, I think when you're with a partner for so
long, I think you get used to that and you desire to have that again. And I'll go and I'll close here
with Michael A's, uh, famous quote where he said, how Michael A's yeah, how lucky am I to be able to
find love twice. Yeah. Yeah. And I'll just point out, he's been a widower for six years now.
and he was just full of wisdom
and I love we're going to get this.
I love that the guys,
you know,
in charity season when asked
if they had any advice for him,
they were like,
dude,
we don't have advice for you.
You can give us advice.
And it was really sweet.
And then he said,
like,
just make sure that you tell your partner every day
that you love them
and like give him a big hug
because the amount of time
that you have left with them
is like unbelievably well,
it could end at any time.
But also, like, even in a long, long relationship, it's so fast.
Oh, he's just such a freaking cutie, butchutie.
And I'm just so sad that, like, I don't even, why do I say that I'm sad?
I'm like, that was just such a highlight of the episode.
It was the biggest highlight.
15 minutes that, like, yeah, I feel bad about, like, not really remembering a ton more from, like, the tell-all part.
Well, let's jump into the tell-all part.
part. I would categorize
the tell-all as Braden's show.
I mean, everybody talked about Braden.
Everybody was the only drama the entire season, basically.
Sure, but isn't it, wouldn't it be great if the villain or the drama wasn't the thing
to take?
I mean, that's maybe why we are feeling like this episode doesn't, it's misplaced in this
season because the drama has not been.
They haven't had really drama.
The front and center.
It's been a love story.
And so this mental all felt like it flashed us back to previous seasons.
We were like the drama is just so intense that it's hard to watch
because there's nothing that feels healthy or good coming from it.
The mental all felt that way to me from all sides.
Ultimately, though, I think breaking God what he wanted.
He's going to paradise.
Yeah.
The big thing I think that they focused on with him
and which I really appreciated what the show did with it
was that they kept saying you called charity classless you called her classless it was like
all just over and over again and he's like I did not and then the show flashes the screen
going to commercial and says we've gone through all the footage we can and we cannot find
anywhere that he said classless what do you think's happening there is it kind of the game
a telephone? Is it them just
getting so upset
with Braden that like things are
being misconstrued?
Yeah. Do you feel bad for Braden
Ashley? You know that I have
like I'm not as I don't have a soft spot for him. I just
think that he's been an overblown villain.
Okay. He's certainly made his
mistakes and
he definitely
shouldn't have been on a show where you should be getting
engaged at the end. Yeah.
But like also I don't think
he did anything super villainous.
And I think that there's just been,
I think the guys are honestly,
they were a little threatened by him.
Yeah,
I mean,
I think when you have the first impressioners,
I would actually say this is the closest thing
to Olivia Creti that I've seen in years.
You know,
she got the first impression rose.
And then it felt like the target was on her back.
And then it kind of spiraled.
And I would take blame for that,
you know,
personally as well,
that I let it spiral or that I didn't,
I don't know if I didn't see through,
but there was like the drama did play a part in my decision making
because it was like, yeah,
everybody else doesn't like enjoy, you know, right?
You know, her being around.
And so why should I enjoy her being around?
And I did let it play too much into it and she didn't deserve it at all.
I think she just had the target on her back and I don't think all people,
can handle that, like, well or do it without controversy.
Yep, yep, yep, exactly.
I think it was Jesse, I don't know, somebody said,
Brayden was his problem was being too honest and having weird earrings.
That's basically what it was.
Yeah, those didn't help.
I can't, I would say those didn't help.
The scarves and-
They definitely didn't because they put off an air of cockiness
where he was like, I can pull these off.
well i was looking at a picture after the show and like he has a very uh interesting like uh wardrobe or
vibe and um you know clothes i i've learned over uh my time of being married are meant to express your
personality and so maybe that's just his personality where he can wear funky earrings but also like
slick his hair back wear a suit and wear like very fancy like um old school glasses like nothing nothing is
consistent there in his wardrobe.
It's just like I'll throw whatever feels good to me on,
but maybe that is how he feels internally is like a little chaotic,
a little bit like I want to just wear what I want to wear.
Yep.
Oh, but there was something that came out on TikTok and I,
we missed this a few weeks ago.
My sister said that there's this girl that was dating Braden
and like went on family vacations and stuff.
Pretty much a classic scenario.
I feel like we can get this every year now with all this social media.
she said that he left her to go on the show
and that they were in a pretty committed relationship.
Yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't know.
I've expressed my thoughts on that before.
As long as you end that relationship,
then you're probably telling that person that,
it wasn't going to happen anyway.
Yeah, it wasn't going to happen anyways.
And so it goes back to the question,
how soon is too soon, hopefully he handled it well.
But I just don't think that is as big a story
as maybe we want to make it.
because if you ended the relationship to go on the show
because you didn't think that other relationship was
you're forever, okay.
I can't be, I'm not mad at him for it.
I mean, it sucks probably to be broken up with
and to be, you know, a couple months later,
you're watching this person on national television.
The scenario isn't good and there's probably really
a lot of better ways to go about it.
But if you ended it, now if you didn't end it
and you went on the show, that's a problem.
but if you ended it and you made that very clear
then who are we to you know
judge
right exactly
a couple other people stood out to you
I'm going to get your just very short thoughts
Ashley on it Sean
Sean has some moments here
Sean basically just came after Braden again
like he just loves to come after Braden
and
he was the one that was really drilling
the whole class list thing you know
sure okay so
Sean's there and then I think the big thing we're talking about is probably Xavier and the hot seat
Xavier in the hot seat is the kind of the final you know you had the brain you had the Sean you
had the Xavier's there was really nobody else that made a massive impression and nobody that really
the podcast here is going to talk about because only some other people that talked had only been
there for you know a week and they were you know using this as their one moment to kind of have
their final word but the Xavier situation was one that I was going to be intrigued by because I did
feel like their breakup on the show was a difficult one for charity I didn't understand if it was
going to be difficult for Xavier what was your take from his hot seat just that he like hates
the fact that he was honest and then his honesty kicked him in the blood that's such I don't love
that right like I hate that I was so honest well no you were honest and you should be I think
everybody's thankful that you're honest I mean you weren't ready I think you could have been honest a little
earlier maybe you didn't realize it then but the worst thing that he could have done and the worst thing
that could have happened to charity was he was not honest at any point they get off the show
she thinks she found her forever love and then a couple days later he's like oh yeah by the way like
I'm not ready.
Like that would be crushing.
Yes, exactly.
He also clarified why he said,
I love you at the limo or the SUV when he was leaving.
And I was like,
I guess like he had said,
I'm falling in love with you the week before at hometown.
So it wasn't jarring to us.
Like we never even mentioned this on last week's podcast.
Yeah.
That he said love you when he was leaving.
But I guess it was kind of a bigger deal
because he crossed the bridge.
from falling in love to saying I love you charity
and he just said that in that moment
he really just wanted her to know
that he cared that like where
you know that he had those deep feelings
for her and yeah you know
just like again just wanting to be honest
with everything that he was experiencing
yeah and then there's the knit
rows that's you know the knit rows
didn't he made that it was so
freaking she was like no thank you
thank you this is going to go in the trash
I mean it's going to be weird if I keep a knit
rose from a man who I
dumbed a couple weeks
before getting engaged, you know.
And
he made it such a dramatic fashion.
It's like kind of silly, you know.
They're like, you're going to get up from
the seat next to her and you're going to say,
I just need one minute. I got to get
something for you. And then it comes
back with a nitrous. It's just like such a
TV moment. It is.
She was not impressed. No.
I do. I would recommend if I
talk to charity, say keep all those
those things. I know.
One day you'll look back when it means, you know, when the pain is less and the memories
are further back and you look back and just be like, that was a crazy season of life.
Do you have anything? Oh, yeah. I have a whole tub. Like that sticks out to you because I have
still the tractor that Crystal's gave me for winning the tractor bikini race downtown L.R.
That was such a weird day. It was like my little gift for winning and it's in my room in my
parents house. Yeah, I still have a whole tub full of anything that was gifted to me. And I still have
all of my roses that have been dried out sitting in a jar here. Um, that's cute from,
from Caitlin's season or one that you've given out? Uh, Caitlin season. You know, there's just,
like, there's things that make you remember that season. Um, I don't have, but I do have a tub somewhere
in, in my house full of all the gifts. Um, I would have to search hard to find it,
but I do still have them. Yeah.
that was the mental
I'll break down in my opinion
the rest of charity season
is one that we are excited for
we are going to be diving into
the sneak peeks
I didn't feel like gave us a lot
other than the fact that this is really hard on charity
and I think we expect that for weeks
yeah but we also see her kiss
Aaron like she kisses Aaron
and she's like well she says
this is changing everything and again
like I said last like a good girl no no
You just said that you're basically in love with these other two.
Do you not bring this guy that you already eliminated back in.
You eliminated him for a reason.
And you have two amazing candidates in front of you.
And the role that her mob's going to play next week.
I'm very excited to see that because they showed quite a bit.
It does, this situation with Aaron does bring some unforeseen intrigue into the last two episodes.
Yeah.
And I do think it's going to switch things up a bit.
I, you know, last week we were speculating how much of a role Aaron was going to play.
We didn't know if him walking on the beach was just B-roll, if he was going to be in and out.
I think he is going to play a role in this whole thing.
I still suspect he doesn't make it to the final two.
No.
I don't see that happening.
No.
But I do think maybe he's around.
Yeah, I could see him get in a fantasy suite.
I could see them having.
Oh, really?
Yeah, I could see that, but I don't see him.
Okay, that might be smart.
Just get it out of your system.
Like, have no what-ifs.
No what-ifs.

Attention passengers.
The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land
plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this,
pull that, turn this.

They had no idea who it was.
Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable.
These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change.
Every case that is a cold case that has DNA right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime.
A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA.
Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it.

It's time for Bachelor Headlines.
Kaelin Miller Key celebrates dream Bachelorette trip
of head of wedding to Dean.
This according to people.
My wife, Jessica, was on this trip.
She said it was absolutely fan-freakantastic.
Aw, Ben, well, then you cover the headline.
What did they do?
Oh, I mean, so it very much kind of mirrored Kaylin's personality.
She isn't a big go-outer.
She likes to do really fun things.
in close groups. And so they stayed at a great resort in San Diego. I forget the name of it.
One second. Hey, hon, what was the name of your resort? The Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego.
And they played pickleball. They played with puppies. They went on some brunches. They went on a picnic.
They dressed up in dresses. They had a lot of good times together around the resort. They went out to
dinner. It was a really good weekend. Jessica came back very happy. And, you know, one of the things
we talked about last night, she said, I believe Kalen felt very celebrated. I hope she did. She was
very loved on and she is very loved. And so I'm hoping she feels the same way because it sounded like
an awesome bachelorette. Well, I'm so happy for her. That's awesome. Next one, I'll take this
headlined so I can throw it to you.
Caitlin Bristow spotted filming the Golden Bachelor.
She did post this on her Instagram story a couple days ago saying that she was going to be
part of one of those public dates.
You're like, is she the host?
I asked if she was the host, which would have been, you know, I just, I just don't
understand anymore.
I love Caitlin.
She's been around a ton.
she should be used a ton I just like that that would have been a cool thing for like I don't know
again I would have loved to work it like let me set up the pillows on the the sofa but yeah she was
spotted there she's going to be a part of this season she was posting about it we don't know
much about it we don't know much about it I don't know anything like there was a video on
TikTok of a girl of like a whole bunch of ladies arriving on a party bus at the canyon club in
LA and Caitlin was there so it's just going to be you know it's just going to host a ladies group date
yeah that's great maybe I need to be more critical of the show maybe that's the way to get back
on this show um maybe that's the way they get a job I don't know uh Bachelor in Paradise stars
Abigail and Noah are engaged the proposal was perfect they said yes congratulations to the
happy couple this actually is according to you know our girl bachelor data and just like
simple math. That season of the Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, I think it was season seven. And from
season seven, we have Serena and Joe married, Mari and Kenny about to be married. Noah and Abigail
now engaged, Becca and Thomas engaged with baby on the way. Piper and Brandon are still together.
No way. Yeah, out of the limelight, but still together. And then Alana and Chris, another very
controversial couple from that season still together yeah i forgot about that wow what a successful paradise
goodness gracious yeah so i mean congratulations to them we're so happy they have been together for
oh my gosh it has it's been two whole years and there was a four-carat oval-shaped ring of course of the
engagement and it's by Kiesar jewelry.
Becca and Thomas played a big role in getting the whole scene set up for Noah to propose,
arrangements and all and all that.
And just a beautiful, beautiful looking engagement scene,
as you can see on their Instagram, they walked up on a, well,
they walked up on the stairs to a rooftop and there are roses and
handles overlooking the ocean.
So pretty.
Lots of, lots of roses.
She was crying right when she saw all that set up.
Congratulations to the two of them.
We're excited and celebrating their engagement.
The final headline is this, a friend of yours, and Ashley, I'll let you take this.
Jade Roper.
Just post on Instagram recently, and I'll read the first sentence of the post.
It says, I've been struggling what to write here.
as I've been navigating a miscarriage.
So Jade obviously is going through a very hard time right now.
And I'm going to obviously let her, like, reveal as many details as she'd like to.
In her Instagram post, she does say that she's kind of taking the more natural route
when it comes to letting this miscarriage just go through her body.
Right now, basically, this is one of the hardest parts on her,
is that like the baby stopped growing a couple weeks ago,
but she still hasn't like miscarried yet.
So basically she just has like a baby kind of just in her body.
And she's just going to let it release naturally.
They were trying.
She has just been, you know, really, really wanting a fourth child.
That fourth child is very much in her heart.
Like she just feels like that'll be when her family is complete,
like that number just like really like just something that she just.
just an instinctual feeling that she just needs, you know,
that she really, really wants to have a fourth kid.
So Tanner is, you know,
Tanner was willing to make his wife's wishes happen to a certain extent.
He said that they'd try, like, for three months.
And within that three months, she got pregnant.
And, yeah, it was a different pregnancy than her past,
couple as far as like how she was feeling and I will kind of let her talk about everything
else she wants to talk about but yeah obviously she's going through a really rough time right now
yeah it's a tough time from both we're thinking about them here and obviously I think yeah the
wise thing to do is to allow her to speak to this outside of the detail she showed on her social
media as much she would like and when she's ready if you know she ever wants to but
We're thinking of Tanner and we're thinking of Jade and that family as they go through this process.
Well, Ash, this is it.
This is the Mentel episode.
We broke it down.
We covered headlines.
We'll be back next week talking about everything charity season.
