You can hear all about his wildlife story in the podcast, The Secret World of Roll Doll. All episodes are out now.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been. What? Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you. I was a spy. binge all 10 episodes of The Secret World of Rolled Doll. Now on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Hi, I'm Iris Palmer, host of the Against All Odds podcast. Every week, I'm sitting down with exceptional people who had broken barriers, even when the odds were stacked against them. Like chef Victor Villa of Vias Tacos. You know the taquero from the Bad Bunny halftime show? It was great. It was a big moment. It was special.
Starting point is 00:01:27 And I felt like I was really representing my family, you know, my brand, my city. I was representing all taqueros, not only of like, you know, the U.S., but of Mexico and beyond, all the taqueros of the world. Listen to Against All Odds on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This financial literacy month, we are talking about the one investment most people ignore,
Starting point is 00:01:50 building a business around the life you actually want. It was just us, making happen whatever he said was going to happen, and then it happened. On those amigos, entrepreneurs like America Sam and Joe Hafe, get real about money, taking risk, and while your dream might be the smartest move. At the end of my life, what am I really going to care about? And the conclusion I came to is what I did to make the world a better place in whatever way.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Listen to those amigos on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. This is the almost famous podcast with IHartRadio. Bob, we're back. Yay! Actually, what should I say? In our group text, Heather was like, boo-boob!
Starting point is 00:02:30 instead of it looked like booed you know she was typing fast she was like I just sent Bob and I'm like
Starting point is 00:02:39 no you didn't it says boo that would be B0 with a lot of Bs I read it the way you did
Starting point is 00:02:45 but you know they both work they both work so funny I don't care what they call me so long as they call me
Starting point is 00:02:51 that's all the right right exactly well we're back for it's been a while on the
Starting point is 00:02:59 almost famous OG podcast. It's Trista and Bob. We are reunited back together for some breaking news. Taylor Frankie Paul news. TFP. Yeah. I mean, is there any other type of news out there? I don't think there is. Right. It is not Frankie Friday. It's Frankie Wednesday or Tuesday. Sorry. Frankie Tuesday. No, it's Taylor Tuesday. Taylor Tuesday. There you go. It's Taylor Tuesday, not Frankie Friday. We've got some breaking news. And we wanted to bring it to y'all's attention. We have an article.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Taylor Frankie Paul will not face domestic violence charges in alleged Dakota Mortensen disputes. Hot off the presses. This just hit us weekly. I mean, it is pretty crazy. This, you know, this woman's life
Starting point is 00:03:53 was blown up by a video being released that, you know, quite frankly, had been around for quite some time. Everyone knew about it. Years. And it, you know, tanked the show, uh, basically probably put her about an inch away from, you know, I don't even know if she checked herself at a therapy or not, but she probably, or into any type of, you know, retreat, but probably, you know, buried in some therapy, a lot of, a lot of issues going on there. And then all of a sudden now, it's like, nope, it's not going to be what anyone thought it was. It's not going to, and I find that very interesting.
Starting point is 00:04:28 I mean, that video was pretty damning, but I'm not sure if maybe they just assumed that, you know, the incident that was happening that caused season five to be put on hold that caused the Bachelorette to be put on, I don't even know what they call it, be putting on, but be pulled off the shelves. They paused it. They paused it is what they said.
Starting point is 00:04:50 It's recently. So they all, in the news, it was said that the Bachelorette this season was canceled. And then recently, it's been reported. And actually I talked to a producer right before that came out that she said. It has been paused. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:06 So it's possible that we could, in theory, see this episode of The Bachelorette now, right? I mean, this whole report was based around, you know, that video was really what kind of made everything blow up. But, you know, this had happened on the filming of Mormon wives. It's been dismissed now. And so, you know, let's get into it. I'll read a little bit of the article and you can take over from there.
Starting point is 00:05:31 How's that sound? Go for it. So Taylor Frankie Paul will not be charged in her latest alleged domestic violence dispute against X Dakota Mortensen. After reviewing reports and evidence submitted to the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office has declined to file charges against Taylor Frankie Paul. District Attorney Sam Gill's office said in a statement obtained by Us Weekly on Tuesday, April 14th. So literally today. news broke on Monday, March 16th that Taylor and Dakota were involved in an alleged dispute that halted production of season five of the secret lives of Mormon wives.
Starting point is 00:06:03 It goes on to say, you know, there was a domestic assault investigation into the matter. And according to authorities, allegations were made in both directions. Contact was made with involved parties on February 24th and 25th. So this is all really recent, obviously. If you haven't heard it, which I'm sure you have, it's been pretty much everywhere. Three years earlier, Taylor was arrested following a separate altercation. That's the one that the video was released on TV. TMZ that I think really kind of blew this whole thing up.
Starting point is 00:06:29 You know, and it really kind of just, it's bananas. Interesting. Dakota claimed in 2023, after the dispute in a daily mail interview that he thought Taylor would never hurt anyone intentionally, that she's a good mom. She's going through a lot in her life. She's been struggling. It's been a hard year for her. She's wracked with guilt over her cheating scandals that cost her marriage.
Starting point is 00:06:50 And, you know, it just goes on to, I mean, those were nice things. he was saying at the time. And I mean, you actually know Taylor, right? You've met her. You spent some time with her. I'm sure your feelings on this have got to be a little bit different than the, you know, than the average person out there like me who has just watched it all unfold in the news because I don't know her. And so, I mean, how do you feel about all this?
Starting point is 00:07:14 This has to hit you a little bit differently, I'm sure, than, you know, probably others. Because I know in the beginning, when you and I were talking about this whole thing, I remember you saying, you know, you're like this guy, you know, he's a piece of work. And I wasn't blaming you one bit for that because it is kind of interesting. You know, neither one of them were running to protect that child when the chair was thrown. But, you know, the video was rolling. No, he was walking towards the child. He was walking towards the child.
Starting point is 00:07:40 You know, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, right? And I did meet Taylor and loved her, welcomed her, was the person that welcomed her to the group chat. officially was the one to welcome her to like, you know, become a bachelorette with all of us on the bachelorette reunion, handed her her sweatsuit and her cross. I saw that. Very nice. Yeah, it was great. And she was lovely. She was so genuine and funny and just so vested in being there and hearing from all of us and getting our advice, right? So I just, I, you know, she could have been like, if she wasn't there for the right reasons, then she could have been totally aloof and like staring at the camera and like going off
Starting point is 00:08:35 and talking to her producer friends and whatever. But she was there with us. Like she was asking us questions that came from the heart. You could tell. It wasn't, it wasn't forced. It wasn't like scripted. And maybe she was given like ideas of questions, but she was there to learn from us. And it was completely genuine.
Starting point is 00:08:56 And I, when that video came out, it was two years old, three years old at the time, something like that, between two and three years, right? And my whole thing was she served her time. She pled guilty to, oh, and actually, the article goes on to say, this is a quote from Taylor, getting arrested, it was the worst night of my life. I ended up being charged with aggravated assault with three years of probation. she admitted after the arrest I was under so much stress I was filmed leaving the jail and then was immediately on the internet it was a blessing in disguise it helped me wake up and in the video if you've like watched um her interactions with the police officers and and if you've heard him talk about it she is clearly wasted like she is totally trashed I guess he had to pick her up
Starting point is 00:09:50 I think he was wasted like pick her up in a car because she was at some part party, whatever. And since then, I believe at least she has said that she has been sober, like she stopped. I think that's what she means when she says she woke up. Yeah. Yeah, she had to wake up. Like, this is life. I endangered my child. And as a mother, of course, you never want to endanger your child. And being the person that endangered your child has got to be so heavy. So also, the whole Dakota thing. Like, I, you know, you know, of course there was so much on Instagram. Like, you literally couldn't go on Instagram without something being about Taylor.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Like, it was constant. Yeah. And on everybody's feed. And there were a lot of things that were coming into my feed that were about, like, reactive abuse and abusive relationships. And she has said, I think actually she said it in this article, like, she wasn't blaming him for the toxicity. because she said it takes two to tango. Yeah. But here it says, it was hard because I'm obviously a part of that.
Starting point is 00:11:01 It's not like I'm pointing the finger like he is the toxic one. It takes two to tango. We were just not progressing. We like each other sometimes and then we fight. It's really hard to explain to people. And unless you've been in that situation, it's hard to understand. If I could just snap out of it, trust me, I would. It's just a lot harder said than done.
Starting point is 00:11:19 And I think that's how I haven't personally been in a, physically abusive relationship. But I have heard from people, you know, and I actually studied psychology as a minor, like, please, I'm like this much, like I know this much about psychology. But I feel like you learn that that's how abusive relationships work, right? You are addicted to each other. You just go back to it, even though you know you're so bad for each other and the person is not right for you, you're addicted.
Starting point is 00:11:51 and I just, my heart goes out to her because I feel like she knows that this is a toxic relationship and she knows that it brings out a bad side to her. But I believe that she served her time. She's also on probation. And she got sober. I don't know if she went to rehab, but through her post, it seems like she was doing a lot of self-care. So when that happened, I was like, this is too bad.
Starting point is 00:12:22 And then, oh my gosh, when the whole Dakota show, like the Unwell show that he's on right now. Yeah. Yeah. Dakota was actually cut out of an episode of Vanderpump Villa
Starting point is 00:12:33 that he was on. So yes, there's that. But he's part of this whole other show through Unwell. And I just, I don't know. I kind of see a little bit of a double standard. And I think it's too bad
Starting point is 00:12:46 that the show was canceled. I don't think that there was any way around it. It needed to be paused for sure. It needed to be paused. There was too much going on. But I feel like this article that's out or the information that's just come out about the alleged, alleged domestic violence charges that they are not charging. Taylor, I think it's amazing. And it gives me hope that we are going to see this season of the pastime. I mean, do you think, and this is me just being devil's advocate, but they always say that, you know, no press is bad press or whatever,
Starting point is 00:13:25 right? All press is good press or whatever, whatever that saying is. Part of me wonders if this press cycle wasn't just so exhaustive, you know, to the point where do people want to see her still? Do people want to watch a show? Is it still one of those things that it's going to be like an, like you want to watch it? You know, you're going to turn your head and watch it. Or has it moved on? I mean, are people already kind of like, okay, well, we've seen her in the news constantly for the last six weeks or whatever that time frame has been. Are they done with this? Do they want to still see it? I mean, I actually think it's interesting because part of me thinks I may not have wanted to watch it previously. And now I'm like, well, I guess what? Maybe I will just see what these guys are like or something. You know, because that's the part I love about the show the most is meeting all the personalities of all these different people. And that's the one thing I felt like we were robbed of a little bit, right? was actually getting to meet these people from all over the country that, you know, she was going to
Starting point is 00:14:17 kind of have as her suitor. I agree. And I think that is definitely a valid point. But I think she's still all over the news. I think that we're talking about her right now. Yes, I think that people are still interested. If people weren't interested, then we would literally not be reporting. What about the fact, though, that we already know how the show ends, right?
Starting point is 00:14:39 We already know that she doesn't spoil her. Well, I was going to say that. And honestly, when it was canceled, I was like, okay, well, normally I don't like to be surprised and I don't pay attention. But I was like, I kind of want to know now because we might not get this season. Even though I know how it ended, I still want to watch because I want to see the guys. I want to see. I actually just saw, and I don't know if this is legit or not, but I just saw that supposedly she was going to be on the. the next season of Dancing with the Stars, and they did a date on The Bachelorette announcing
Starting point is 00:15:19 her being on Dancing with the Stars. So, and then someone said, wherever I read this, I can't even remember where I read it, but it was somewhere on Instagram that because she wasn't being considered anymore that Tasia is being considered. So I have no idea if that is true or not or fake news, but if she is still going to maybe be on dancing with the stars, then I kind of want to see that storyline. You know, like I want to see her be announced. Not that she has to, but I want to give these guys their moment in the sun and be able to get to know them because we did, you know, cover when the cast was announced.
Starting point is 00:16:02 And it seems like she has a great cast. So, and I hate using that word. I hate the word cast, but what other word are we going to use? Yeah. A great group. Anyway. Great group of guys. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:13 A great group. Okay, so wait, we know they did something. Gleb on Dancing with the Stars, references meeting Taylor and shooting with her, which would have been on The Bachelorette. So I bet there's some truth to that. Yeah. And that was on the Unwell show. That was on the Unwell show that Glob was talking about it. So anyway, I want to see it.
Starting point is 00:16:33 And if it's going to be on ABC, if it's going to be on you, Hulu, if it's, it's not going to even air, it's all obviously yet to be determined. But I do want to see it. I don't want this to be the end, like for everyone to have a bad taste in their mouth about about Bachelorette. Yeah, I get that. And even though we know, spoiler alert, that, you know, she ends up with a happy ending. The happy ending ends up not being a happy ending. But I still want to see the happy ending. I don't know. Call me crazy. Call me crazy. I mean, it's also one of those things, too. You never know, right?
Starting point is 00:17:10 You never know what could happen. I mean, clearly she had a connection with a guy on the show and her life gotten away a little bit and, you know, things went sideways. But you never know, right? I mean, crazier things have happened. The newest tracks. Let's go. New music.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And the next big thing. Always on the new music first. Your first place to hear it all. Because you're going to like it, love her want to play it twice. Playing now. It's Financial Literacy Month, and the podcast. Podcast Eating While Broke is bringing real conversations about money, growth, and building your future. This month, hear from top streamer Zoe Spencer and venture capitalist Lakeisha Landrum-Pierre,
Starting point is 00:19:21 as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up. If I'm outside with my parents and they're seeing all these people come up to me for pictures, it's like, what? Today now, obviously, it's like 100%. They believe everything. But at first, it was just like, you got to go get a real job. There's an economic component to community. If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they fail.
Starting point is 00:19:44 And what I mean by fail is they don't have money to pay for food. They cannot feed their kids. They do not have homes. Communities don't work unless there's money flowing through them. Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021. And I'm Kunky, his best friend and business manager. And we've got a new show called The 1021 Podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:12 I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers. We also love sports. And with the World Cup right around the corner, we'll be breaking down the biggest storylines ahead of the big tournament here in the USA. Listen to the 1021 podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So let's pick up on this next article. This was in deadline. It says a letter sent Tuesday to the Draper and West Jordan cop shops.
Starting point is 00:20:48 The Utah prosecutor stated, the complainant in these cases reported several incidents of some of which occurred more than three years ago. Any incidents of misdemeanor offenses which are alleged to have occurred more than two years ago are barred by the statute of limitations. So there's my question being answered. Incidents which are alleged to have occurred within the statute of limitations have also been reviewed. The DA added several incidents that were submitted do not rise to the level of criminal offenses.
Starting point is 00:21:12 The remaining incidents lack sufficient. evidence to support filing criminal charges where the state must be able to prove such allegations beyond a reasonable doubt. Such incidents lacks specificity as to when and what actually occurred or corroboration. Based on the evidence submitted for screening by the Draper Police Department, West Jordan Police Department, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office declines to file any charges. The good news for Paul today comes a week after a Beehive state official ruled the mother of three cannot spend unsupervised time with her toddler son with Mortensen. that April 7th hearing also saw Paul get a temporary restraining order against Mortensen.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Protective orders hearing for both Paul and Mortensen before third district court commissioner Russell, Mines has been set for April 30th. So there you go. So she's still not able to see her child unsupervised. But at least she's able to see him. And she filed a restraining order that was approved. So she has a restraining order against him. Yeah, I guess that helps a little bit for, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:11 from just a public perception situation. Like, you know, if, you know, someone again who doesn't know her from Adam and all I'm reading is, man, this dude's got, you know, protective orders against her. You know, he's worried about getting hurt. It almost makes it look like, you know, he's just the victim every single time, not that he's stirring up the sauce. And this obviously shows that he's probably been known to do some things too, which, you know, have been alleged as well. So it's just a hot mess, no matter how you slice it.
Starting point is 00:22:38 It's sad when there's kids involved and it's just, you know, it's just brutal. you know. It is. It's awful. I mean, that's the first concern you have as a parent is for the kids. Yeah. But I just also have been worried about her mental health and,
Starting point is 00:22:54 because it's got to be so hard. It's one thing to be going through all of what her and Dakota are going through privately. Right. And then you throw in, you know, the public. And,
Starting point is 00:23:05 you know, she put herself in the public eye. So people often will say, well, you know, You're getting what you asked for. Well, not really. No.
Starting point is 00:23:13 People are really mean and hateful. No one asked for what she's gone through. No, you don't know. The death threats and the whatever. Like, I feel like people are just really mean. And I, that's not what you asked for. No. There's no, no room for hatred.
Starting point is 00:23:29 No. Well, I'm hopeful. I'm hopeful for a few things. Here's what I'm hopeful for. Honestly, I'm not, I'm not sure how I feel about whether or not to show airs, right? I don't want the bachelor or the bachelor to be done on a bad note like we're saying. But what I would love to see happen is I'd love to see her get to a healthy and a good place, her be able to see her kids again, her and Dakota to be able to coexist,
Starting point is 00:23:55 but not be horrible to each other, him to quit, you know, trying to bait her into doing things. I mean, I don't know that that's the case, but it's how it feels to me like when I see this stuff. I would love to see all that happen. And if by some crazy chance we actually do get to see that run of the show, I think that would be great. But that's at the end of my wish list. I want this other stuff to happen first. And I feel like if it does, then maybe some good stuff can come from it. You know, I hope.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Yeah, yeah. Me too. All right. Well, thanks for jumping on the podcast, Bob. I love it. Boob loves it. Boob loves it. Thank you so much for finally calling me by God.
Starting point is 00:24:37 given name, Heather. I appreciate it. Oh my gosh. We will be continuing to follow this story. And the next court hearing is on April 30th. So keep tuning in to Almost Famous. We are Tristan Bob from Almost Famous OGs. Thanks for listening.
