This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with Iheart Radio. Hello, guys. Welcome to an almost famous breaking news episode. We just heard that Taylor Frankie Paul will not be coming back to the secret lives of woman wives.
Starting point is 00:02:54 She just announced this on her Instagram this afternoon. Now, is this official resignation? I don't know if it's an official. resignation, but she won't be coming back as of now because she has no desire to move forward with Mormon wives after shocking cast exit. She's referring to the fact that her co-star, Michaela Matthews, announced her exit from Mormon wives earlier this week and that her other cast members, Macy and Layla, have both showed interests in possibly leaving the show. And then we all know that Whitney announced that this past season that aired just a week
Starting point is 00:03:38 or two ago would be her last. So, hello, Ben. How, how are you feeling about this? Hi, Ashley. You know, this is interesting. I think the question is this we've just been talking about if the secret lives of Mormon wise will continue with the departure of so many. And the rumored departure of so many of their main cast members. And if you read through the tea leaves, we kind of assumed it was because of the controversy surrounding Taylor Frank Paul on the show. My big question is, do you think this brings some of those people back in? I guess that is a good question.
Starting point is 00:04:27 She's saying she's leaving because they're leaving, but does that mean now that if she leaves that they're staying? because if we all leave, then the show is basically over. I don't know that it's the kind of show that is going to go. It was founded on this thing called Mom Talk, which is a group of friends or frenemies, and they all did TikToks together. They were all Mormon.
Starting point is 00:04:50 They were all young moms. And now it seems like no one wants to be part of the show, so should it be the end of the show or should just be the end of Taylor, Frankie Paul, on the show? We have got to talk about her statement, here because she blames the cast as to being the reason that she's not coming back. She says, quote, they're bullying her. Today we had an interview with Latia Gar, who is close. You guys should definitely listen to it. It's a good, juicy interview. But she said that a lot of the girl, like,
Starting point is 00:05:23 just the drama behind the scenes of this group is even worse than the drama that you see on screen. So perhaps there is something else going on behind the scenes. But from our understanding, Taylor is saying that her cast is bullying her because they don't want to film with her. Recently, Michaela said that because of her morals and values, she doesn't want to continue filming a show alongside Taylor. And now Taylor is saying that this is bullying. I mean, what do you think, Ashley? I don't think it's bullying. How would you describe it?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Like kind of walk us through from a fan's perspective when you know the rumors have been out there that the cast is considering leaving that you know they've been publicly criticizing Paul now they're filming they're getting ready to film a new season Paul's stepping away because she feels like in accordion, okay this is the exact quote
Starting point is 00:06:30 it's a pleasure to remove myself so they can continue because I've almost convinced myself I'm deserving of all this pain to a certain degree absolutely this is consequences of my actions my question has been she continues on my question has been how much suffering and scrutiny is going to be enough I'm just relieved to be out it's just how much benefit of the doubt can you give someone I feel like I've wanted to support her. I felt like she was like somebody to be to sympathize with but now I just am like girl you and I know I haven't been easy on her by any means but it's just like girl why is it always everybody's getting up on you like maybe there is something wrong about how you deal with people
Starting point is 00:07:19 because it can't possibly be that all these people are against all these people aren't seeing the truth like maybe we step back and we realize that you you're kind of the problem, or you're at least a big portion of the problems. They're currently wrapping on season six. This show is in production mode so much. I can't even believe it. So I guess that this means that the girls are filming with her currently,
Starting point is 00:07:49 and they're just saying that they will not be filming with her again. They're recording their confessionals now. So it's like the, it's the last chapter of production. I think we have to look at it from like two different things, right? One is the Dakota Tate situation with the kids. Yeah. And I think it gets, I think the reason I'm hesitant to say it's her fault. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:17 That's where I'm like, I don't know if you're all the problem. I'm hesitant to say it's her fault because I think Dakota is a huge source of the issues in that scenario. Yeah. I think together there are two people struggling, two people who are not good for each other and not really good right now personally in a relationship. And so I look at that and I say, okay, separate issue. I think that's a really tricky situation with two people not very good. When you look at the secret lives of Mormon wives,
Starting point is 00:08:58 I think there's probably many things going to it. I would assume that the cast one was a little envious of Paul's shot to fame. Then with The Bachelor, I added to it. They, you know, not only were envious to that, they were also saying, hey, this is a big opportunity for this person. Like her or not, if they're friends with her or not, I don't know behind the scenes if they actually are. You're like, this is a huge opportunity for her.
Starting point is 00:09:25 She's going to skyrocket to popularity. And then it comes crashing down. So then they look at it and they go, okay, if you're, if you're living in a place of jealousy, you're probably looking at it going, it's what she deserves. That's what we all thought was going to happen. If they're looking at it from less jealousy and more just almost like a fan's perspective, they're saying, how in the world could you let this happen, Taylor? Taylor, once again, you had something handed to you.
Starting point is 00:09:55 And you messed it up. they maybe said that to her. You know, I know in this last season, they confronted her on a couple of these topics, and she got defensive and even made the statement at one point, as we've mentioned, that I'm not going to break up this guy. I'll have my lawyer do it. And they're going, Taylor, that's not right. That's just wild and weird.
Starting point is 00:10:15 And you should be held accountable for the actions that you've taken. And if that's what Taylor is speaking about when she feels like she's being ganged up on, I would say, Taylor, you're not being ganged up on. They're just holding you accountable as the group, closest to you right now, and everybody is seeing this behavior and saying, hey, it's not good. And you're the one saying, hey, everybody's getting up on it. No, you, you know, these are the consequences of actions. If I hurt a bunch of people in my path forward in life, people are going to call me out. And they should. I think that was very well put. Yeah. It's, it's definitely her having a
Starting point is 00:10:48 problem with taking accountability. I'm not saying they're best friends. I'm probably not. And yeah, there's probably a lot of jealousy. I know that there was a bit of a storyline about jealousy on the show, but towards her. There's always the, is she the founder of mom talk show? She likes to put it in her bio. I also feel like the girls need to be grateful toward her because they probably wouldn't be in the financial situations that they are today if it weren't for her.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Let's read her actual statement. She says, my gratitude goes to all the networks that support me through this, which I'm for ABC. Hulu, and gave me the chance to return. However, I don't desire to move forward like this. I was originally, I originally was willing to be removed to let them all continue with less stress, and I'm back at that point. Some girls know what I've been through, and then to turn and collectively pile on with
Starting point is 00:11:51 their statements, knowing that there has been ongoing abuse through the system the last eight months on top of what I've endured. Almost the entire cast plus some going at me. Laughing about my kids is disgusting. Of course. And I've bit my tongue there. These same people have had meetings telling me I need to lead the way of pay. What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:12:17 Do you know what that means? Lead the way of pay? Probably asking for more money from the show, I'm guessing. My voice was the only one. that can make it happen. And then they would work from what I demanded. Okay, so basically she was the one that could ask her pay raises for everybody, perhaps. You're just, she's the largest name.
Starting point is 00:12:39 So she fights for something and puts her foot in the ground that other people are going to have, like the show will have to follow. Mm-hmm. Okay. I'm grateful I never followed through with their requests of, or demands, I think is what she meant. And I'm grateful I kept the same pay out of fairness and integrity. Oh, she's saying that she's. didn't take more than the rest of the cast.
Starting point is 00:13:00 You're kidding. We're just getting into like the weeds there of a situation. I mean, it's, you know, I'm sure she's grateful for the show. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. It was always said to me on my time on television.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Be grateful for the opportunity. And I agree. I would not have been on TV if it wasn't for a like random casting and a reality television, uh, show that said, hey, we think you could be a fit for this. And I said, okay, great. And my life forever changed. That's why I'm always grateful for the opportunity. It doesn't mean, though, Ashley, within that opportunity that I'm grateful for and that I want to support that there still
Starting point is 00:13:43 can't be a level of accountability held towards the show and to the other contestants. When it comes to the casting, the storylines, who they're bringing in and out, who they're hiring and not hiring, who they fire. You can still hold a company accountable and still be grateful for the opportunity. I think she is grateful to the networks and for the opportunities. She just apparently hates her co-stars. But at the same time, and I don't know enough to know the details. I know that she recently just changed her Instagram within the last few minutes to say that her assistant's going to be handling it. You know, I just think there's enough here where when enough people speak out in concern and also in angst, you have to start taking notice and saying, okay, how are my behaviors affecting the people
Starting point is 00:14:33 around me? I gave her the benefit of the doubt for a long time until we saw this season and we see the way that she handled the Bachelorette relationship and said, hey, not like really a thing. It makes me think she's not taking any of this seriously. She doesn't realize how much this is hurting herself and a crew that films the show and pass contestants that want to support the show, people's livelihoods depend on it, that she thinks this is another like piece of the game. So that part upsets me in the sense of like, Taylor, hey, what did you think you were signing up for? But then also, I just don't think she's always been the victim.
Starting point is 00:15:14 She's always pretending she's the victim. But I, but that's my point is at some point you have to take notice that maybe. maybe there's ownership in this and change that needs to be made, that you're not always the victim in every bad scenario, that people want to like like you, but you've hurt some people in the process here. And when you turn it back on them every time, they're going to just end up saying,
Starting point is 00:15:36 hey, not healthy. I'm getting out of this. Yeah, that brings me to the fact that, like, if we use what she did on Bachelor as a demonstration as to how she handles really, She doesn't take them very seriously, right? So if we're going to use that example, because she goes home and she's on her fiancé basically twice, I think that that shows that we can't trust her in these friendships that she has with these girls in the show.
Starting point is 00:16:08 No, I think it's, I think you represent yourself on, you know, these shows in a similar way that mirrors your real life. I would assume so. I don't know her. And it's hard, Ashley, because I, I want to back her. And I know so many of the women that were leads on the franchise wanted to back her. And then it just became hard because there was a disconnect or this kind of like vision that maybe Taylor was a little more important than everybody else that's ever been on the show. And I don't know if that's true or not.
Starting point is 00:16:40 But based on resumes, I would argue that there's some that have done far bigger things than Taylor Frankie Paul more consistently. She also never addressed in this. We've recently had headlines that alleges that Taylor, Frankie Paul, failed some drug tests. And she doesn't at all broach that subject within this, you know, statement where she says either they're not true or they're true and it was a mishap or whatever. She just doesn't talk about it. No, she doesn't acknowledge them there.
Starting point is 00:17:13 She does go on to talk about cyberbullying in her Insta story. She says that she's being cyberbullying. and that her friends aren't caring about her kids, basically. Like, all the girls are saying, like, oh, I don't want any kid. I don't want to, if I don't want to associate myself with this show and this person because it doesn't align with my morals and values because, like, there are kids involved. And she's like, this is not about the kids. Stop trying to make it seem like you're using the kids as a front is basically what you're saying.

I'm not going to get anyone fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business. And I've always got something to say. Starting point is 00:18:59 We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.

Hey everybody, it's me, W. Comaubel. This season of my podcast who's with me, I speak with two-time
Starting point is 00:20:37 Emmy winner and weirdly one of my best friends, Kevin Avery. Everything up to that point, build you as a comic. Us going on the road, doing Battle Mountain and Ely. Yeah, you took me. You were one of the first people who took me on the road. Which is funny because at the time I was like, I don't know if I like this guy. With rapper, actor, David Diggs. The jump off for me was Hamilton, and it was the most popular thing in a very long time. But it was still, for me, it was me and my friends making something dumb. Bruce Lee's daughter and Brandon Lee's sister, Shannon Lee.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Back to your initial point of stewarding my father's legacy and giving my energy to that. You're lending your life to, You're stewarding somebody else's life. Listen to Who's With Me with with Debbie Comptebell on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Dear honies, this is goodbye. In February of 2024,
Starting point is 00:21:34 celebrated illustrator and children's book author, Patramathers, and her husband Michael, mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died by suicide. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop. Wonderland.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Patriot and Michael were by all accounts, healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind? I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to, I truly hope that Petra was a thousand percent on board with the plan. Do you think of him as having killed her? Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible from my mother's staff.
Starting point is 00:22:18 I'm Leon Nafak. And I'm Alice Gregory. Together we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patriot and Michael's letters as one married couple trying to understand another. Listen to Death of an Artist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Some of these messages are concerning. I don't know who's in her camp that she's listening to that could hold her accountability or hold her accountable with some kindness and softness. that she would actually respond to. I don't know how Taylor works.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Or if it just got to the point where people feel like they just need to be blunt and direct, maybe that's the case. But somebody needs who loves her and who has access to her needs to see her. Because within all these posts, one of them speaks to the darkness that these other people, I'm assuming what she's talking about is this group of people that she's filming, the secret lives of Mormon Wise with how their lives are not going well either. And she finds that she says it's wild, I think, that this group is bullying me while at the same time they have their own stuff at home. And that could be true. But we all have our stuff. Like we do.
Starting point is 00:23:44 It doesn't, just because Ashley, you're maybe not going through the best season of life. And whoever knows what's going on with you. It doesn't mean that I'm still not going to listen to you to speak into me or to hold me accountable. I assume that everybody has pains that they're working through in whatever capacity. And that doesn't discredit pain doesn't discredit a human from being able to speak into me. So it just sounds like she's on defense mode right now. Like she's ultra defensive. Well, she's been on ultra defense mode for months now.
Starting point is 00:24:18 I know. Very hurt. It seems like she's very hurt. she's alter defensive. She's not really listening to anybody. She's not taking accountability for the decision she's made in the midst of the Bachelorette and then obviously filming Secret Lives and Mormon Wives. That's concerning because there are definitely some behaviors.
Starting point is 00:24:38 I mean, take everything else that's alleged out of it. We saw that she cheated on the guy that she picked for the Bachelorette and didn't really have a problem with it, actually kind of like push it aside. that in itself is an issue. I don't know that the network knew that she was going to write this. To me, when I said at the beginning of the show, that like, is it or is it not an official departure, I feel like she just randomly did her Taylor thing where she got on her Instagram and she said something that was not approved by production.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I feel like this is her in some way trying to figure out what they may really want. It's like, do you want them or do you want me? Or do you want me to kind of light this thing up and fire? Because she's saying thank you to the networks as if she's like talking about this as a TV show. She's not saying like thank you to my friends and family for supporting me throughout my television career. I'm going to step back. I'm not going to be part of reality TV for some time. It sounds more of like, hey, this show is, the cast of the show is bullying me out.
Starting point is 00:26:00 So do you want me or them? Or am I being dramatic? It just doesn't sound like she's taking a step back from the spotlight with this departure notice. Well, I hope she is because the one thing I was going to take from this. And this has been so messy and confusing since we. we started talking about it months ago. I tried to follow the storylines, and it's all mixed up. And then we get new people added in, and then we get the cheating at it in.
Starting point is 00:26:27 And it's just gotten to be where it's like everything that comes out is like shockingly bad. Honestly, it's just like, it's just shockingly confusingly weird and bad. And then we get the video release, and I'm like, what in the world? Like how did this, how did this person get cast and who's helping her? her is my question. How is this person living this life is my question. I can't I when I have a dramatic moment in my life it is all consuming and I hate being in that headspace. How do you let yourself be in this headspace so long? Well that's that's what I'm saying is I think you would have people that would rally around you and help pull you out of it even with some tough love and I'm wondering where
Starting point is 00:27:11 those people are at in Taylor's life right now. She tough love feels like somebody should sit her down be like, okay, Taylor, you're a human I want in my life. Here are the things that have happened in the last year. What things do you feel like have been blown out of proportion that have been not true? What things do you take accountability for? Do you own and say, yes, I messed up and I don't want to do that again. And this is a behavior that I'm trying to stop. Like, let's get a look at life, figure out how to take a step forward.
Starting point is 00:27:46 who needs what you know part of a is making you know reconciling with people you've hurt so let's start i just say that because a is a pretty good path to rebuilding relationships and kind of starting anew there's always that opportunity for people to start anew in life and to start a new in life and to start a new story i i there is grace there and i hope to god literally that that can be offered to her and that's told to her but part of that is reconciling with the people you've hurt along your path. And so maybe some steps are who do you need to reconcile with doesn't mean you need to invite them back into your life. Goodness, there's some people right here in front of us that I don't think she should ever be around again, but she can reconcile or forgive.
Starting point is 00:28:32 And then, Taylor, how do we step forward? I say all this, say the one thing, Ashley, that I was going to leave this conversation saying good for her is that she has publicly now stated, if she means it or not, or who she's actually sending it to or not, that she is stepping away, which means that she has no more commitments on her plate for an X amount of time. That is what we've been asking or hoping for for her for a long time now, that she would be free of media, free of cameras, free of storylines of press, that it gives her time to work on herself. And I hope that that's actually what she's saying, that she is stepping away. The music you love.

Us going on the road, doing Battle Mountain and Ely and all this shit. You were one of the first people took me on the road. road, which is funny because at the time I was like, I don't know if I like this guy.
Starting point is 00:32:27 With rapper, actor, David Diggs. The jump off for me was Hamilton and it was the most popular thing in a very long time. But it was still, for me, it was me and my friends making something dumb. Bruce Lee's daughter and Brandon Lee's sister, Shannon Lee. Back to your initial point of stewarding my father's legacy and giving my energy to that. you're lending your life to stewarding somebody else's life. Listen to Who's With Me with Debbie Kumabelle on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Dear honies, this is goodbye.
Starting point is 00:33:07 In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author Patramathers and her husband Michael mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died by suicide. By the time you get the Shletter both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Patra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind? I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to I truly hope that Petra was a thousand percent on board with the plan.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Do you think of him as having killed her? Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible for my mother's staff. I'm Leon Nafak. And I'm Alice Gregory. Together we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patriot and Michael's letters, as one married couple trying to understand another. Listen to Death of an Artist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:34:08 She doesn't acknowledge her fans in the message, which again makes me feel like she's not necessarily leaving the fans. Because it sounds so networky that I feel like she might be on Instagram. But listen, I just, I agree. I hope that this means that she's actually going to step away and take some very, very quiet time out of any sort of public eye. At some point, whatever it is, she has to admit that she has caused pain. Like there is an admittance of behavior or admittance of substance
Starting point is 00:34:51 or admittance of what have, like, of decisions, once we get an admittance, like, hey, I have done this
Starting point is 00:34:59 and I recognize it. Then I think we're on a path forward, but saying it's not me, it's everybody else. It's literally never been her. That's the problem. It's never been her. Well, I mean,
Starting point is 00:35:13 there's been a few times where she's been like, where she's admitted that she's always working on herself and that like she's not great and she feels that, bad about this or that. She does admit fault in some ways. But I do feel like when it comes to TV stuff, it's almost like she's always blaming the people around her. I do feel like sometimes
Starting point is 00:35:35 I talk about Taylor from this place of feeling honestly quite whole. I feel like I was brought up in a really happy, comfortable, stable family. And I'm hoping that I'm giving that to my kids right now. And it's easy for me to say, like, why don't you just snap out of this? Be more accountable. Like, pick yourself off this, just, I don't know, like, drama-centric life that you're living and try to, like, just forget about it and say that this isn't important. I can make money another way.
Starting point is 00:36:20 or like, you know, just take a beat and then come back and do your influencing. You can be an influencer and live a happy, relatively normal life. But I do think that she needs to take a beat, but I think her career will definitely be there if she wants to do it. So I just feel like sometimes I'm really hard on Taylor on this podcast, not that I've ever been hard on her in person or like on the internet, but like I am sometimes hard on her on this podcast. And I do feel guilty about it. It's probably easier said than done. I just feel like she does
Starting point is 00:36:52 she does seem to feel very comfortable living in like this victim role and I want better for her and I want her to see how wonderful life can be if she doesn't live in the drama and just feed off it that's like
Starting point is 00:37:09 it's like she's probably addicted to you know she is addicted to drama she's addicted to this reality TV chaos and And if she does have ADD, let's just say, like, let's just say that she has ADD, a lot of people with ADD will kind of like obsess and, like, feed off something. They're very addiction prone. So whether it's the addiction to the fame and the chaos or men even,
Starting point is 00:37:39 it's something that I'd hope that she could break down in therapy. Well, the headlines can summarize like this. Taylor Frankie Paul, at least to what we know, right now, according to her social media, is stepping away from the secret lives of Mormon wives. And her hope is that they can continue filming because she feels like she is a roadblock to everybody else going off on doing the show. We'll see. If the show continues or not, we'll see if Taylor Frankie Paul comes back or not or who says yes and who says no. This is breaking news. So it's all happening within the last hour. We'll follow along and give you updates here on the
