I'm Bailey Taylor and this is it girl.
This podcast is all about going deeper with the women's shaping culture right now.
Yes, we will talk about the style and the success,
but we are also talking about the pressure, the expectations, and the real work behind it all.
As a woman in the industry, you're always underestimated.
So you have to work extra hard in a way that doesn't compromise who you are in your integrity.
You know, I like to say I was kind of like a silent ninja.

Good people. What's up? What's up? It's Questlove.
So recently, I had the incredible opportunity
to have a real conversation
with actress and producer, Jamie Lee Curtis,
from routines to recovery, true lies,
and a certain Jermaine Jackson music video.
Jamie's real and raw.
And it's something I really admire about her.
I am so happy that I'm the head bitch in charge
at 66.
Seven, that I have the perspective that I have at my age to really be able to put all of this into context.

Ready for a different take on Formula One? Look no further than no grip. A new podcast tackling the culture of motor racing's most coveted series.
Join me, Lily Herman, as we dive into the under-explored pockets of F1, including the story of the woman who last participant.
in a Formula One race weekend, the recent uptick in F1 romance novels, and plenty of
mishap scandals and sagas that have made Formula One a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more
than 75 years. Listen to No Grip on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts. Before getting into this episode, we do want to give a warning that we'll be discussing
matters of domestic violence. This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeart
radio everyone welcome to a breaking news episode of the almost famous podcast we're here to talk about
something very serious and very awful um there was a video that was released today about an hour ago
to TMZ um from somebody in i'm assuming dakota's camp that shows the video of the two thousand
23 attack on him by Taylor.
So this is not the one that has been making current headlines, and this has been,
you know, she's been arrested for the incident that is now online.
We've never seen the video before, and it's bad.
A couple questions, just for clarity's sake.
One is, is it, why was he, I mean, was he filming it?
Do you think because this has happened in the past or?
Lots of people say lots of people are advised when in an abusive relationship to film moments like that so that they have the evidence that the police will need.
Girls sometimes don't videotape it, but then they'll like send text or like they'll do voice recordings and date them and all of that.
So this is not weird behavior for somebody who is being abused.
The second question I've had is who released it and then why do we think now?
That is the interesting.
That is, yeah, that, that's interesting.
So Dakota will really stop at nothing, somebody said.
This is a video that he released to TMZ.
It's terrible.
It's not saying, nobody's saying that it isn't, but this video is from 2003 and he decided
to just release it right now before her bachelorette season.
Some people are saying that it was him directly because now his meal ticket is gone.
Like some people are arguing that this is a man.
I don't think the meal ticket is him being on secret lives.
But now with like all of this, all these headlines, people are speculating that she will not be on secret lives anymore.
And now he's just kind of over it.
People, we do not actually know who released the video, but people are obviously expecting that it's somebody that is close to Dakota, as this person would need to obviously get video footage from his phone or footage that he sent to a friend.
I'm going to read through.
We do have a comment from a couple people from Bachelor Nation on the video.
Blake Hortzman comments underneath the video.
his comment reads,
this is insane, he says, underneath the TMZ video.
Let's dive in a little bit to what the video is.
It's a triggering video.
It's not easy to watch.
We see the beginning of it.
It's kind of hard to follow,
but as the video progresses,
we do see, I think,
one of the most horrifying moments is there's chairs being thrown.
Yeah, that's it.
Yeah, there's a daughter in the room with them.
I can't tell from the video if the daughter is struck by the chair or not, but the chair does fly across a room.
The daughter is in there.
You do hear the daughter crying.
It's how the video ends.
This isn't a very long video.
So the backstory of what led to this I'm not familiar with.
Maybe you do know Ashley.
Yeah.
The backstory is that he does call the police and she is arrested after this video.
But what led to this argument?
Like why did he decide to pull out of his phone?
Nobody knows.
He's assuming recording this as he's probably had instances like this leading up to this moment,
which is why he pulled his phone out to record.
Or he thinks that if he shows what she's like in a moment like this,
that she'll stop because maybe she blacks out these moments.
We also know that she doesn't drink anymore,
and she said that she stopped drinking after a moment.
It's unclear whether it's the moment.
moment that led to her arrest. I'm not sure about that. She may have spoken about that before,
but this is around the time that she stopped drinking.
You know, this whole thing, actually, if I can just speak, the video was released. So now we have
footage of not the most recent incident that caused the cameras at Secret Lives of Mormon
Wives to shut down. This was the original incident that has been known to everyone for a long
time. I don't, this is the first time we're seeing the video, but we now see why the arrest was made in
23. So I want to just speak, I guess, on how I'm processing this. I don't know how else to talk
about it. I'm still standing firm in this hope that Taylor gets help. She needs help. Nobody behaves this
way without getting care and getting clarity and getting rest and getting some type of professional
help beyond sometimes even talk therapy beyond that so because this is disturbing there's nothing
about this video that's not hard to watch it's it's hard for a grown man to watch it's hard for
a grown woman to watch it's hard for anybody to watch this video because it is it feels it's
scary when chairs are being thrown across a room at another human. It is scary. But how I'm
processing this is this. Domestic violence is a major issue. I don't understand how at some level
this has become excusable or something we can look past. Again, it doesn't mean that
Taylor needs to define herself by this moment. It was a bad moment. It might have been. It might have
been multiple bad moments. We don't know. It doesn't mean that that has to define the rest of her life.
I don't want that for anybody. I don't want your worst moments to ever define you. But what it also means
with her being cast as the lead of the show is it's almost like we're, we've moved on past it.
And I think that was our hope as we broke down Frankie Fridays was, hey, we know we cannot ignore
this thing that happened in 2023. We know it's a big deal. But yet, her and her and
Dakota still seem to hang out. Obviously, now we know that they slept together the night before
the Bachelorette. So whatever happened between the two of them that caused this arrest, has,
you know, the parties involved have must come to some like forgiveness and there must have been
some progress forward. That was kind of from a fan's perspective, I guess, how we were reading into it.
But we, we can't ignore that this has happened. But we, I think I was under the assumption maybe
that she was cast as the lead because this was a part of her life that everybody felt strongly was far gone, right?
She quit drinking. That's a huge step, right? Drinking is oftentimes a drug that leads to behavior that we don't, we're not proud of or that will regret.
So she quit drinking. She took that step. She did go get the help. She talks about in episode one.
She got some help. She spoke about it publicly. So,
the only knowledge we had was hey everybody's aware of this things have been ever all parties involved
have moved on and they've moved on together and now she's in a new chapter of life but then this
incident happens and we still don't have the clarity on what this incident was that shut down the
filming of secret lies and Mormon wives but my question is like how could they have cast this no like
maybe they didn't.
I don't want to be an excuse maker,
but maybe they didn't know that this was still something
that she would be susceptible to,
that this would be her reaction to,
something that was frustrating.
But it feels like we're almost excusing domestic violence.
And that is just,
I almost feel like weird saying,
I don't know why I feel weird saying.
It's like, it's not okay.
How are we excusing this?
Yeah, it's such a weird situation
because obviously a lot of like really hardcore supporters of Taylor might say you guys knew this happened in 2023 and that she has forgiven you know she has been forgiven in some ways by Dakota to the point where they obviously continue their relationship that she has learned and changed her lifestyle and all that and they're going to say well you knew that going into the casting and then
they're going to say, and this video is from
2003. You can't hold this against her now that you're seeing it
differently than you would have just knowing that she had been arrested for it.
The fact of the matter is you can't change how people react to things
and we're going to react more strongly when we actually see the video.
So seeing it does change things.
And when you pair it with the fact that this has been three weeks
of something happening over there,
where it's been shut down because the girls feel so seriously about whatever recently happened.
It's just, it's the combination.
No is throwing it back.

and leaders to talk about ambition, visibility, and what it really takes to build something
meaningful in the public eye. Because being a Nick Girl isn't about the spotlight, it's about owning it.
I think the negatives need to be discussed and they need to be told to people who maybe don't do this every day,
just so they know what's really going on.
I feel like pulling the curtain back is important.

Why hasn't a woman formally participated in a Formula One race weekend in over a decade?
Think about how many skills they have to develop at such a young age?
What can we learn from all of the new F1 romance novels suddenly popping up every year?
He still smelled of podium champagne and expensive friction.
And how did a 2023 event called Wag Ageddon change the paddock forever?
That day is just seared into my memory.

Good people.
What's up?
What's up?
It's Questlove.
So recently, I had the incredible opportunity to have a real conversation with
actress and producer Jamie Lee Curtis ahead of the release of her new thriller series,
Scarpetta.
I can honestly say I've never done an interview like that before.
At one point, I shut my laptop down.
And we just started chatting as a little bit.
old friends, recent Oscar recipient.
So we have some commonality there.
I predicted that, by the way.
And you said these words to me, dust off your mantle.
Yes.
And I looked at you and I said, what?
And you said, dust off your mantle.
And then I left and that was it.
And then when all of that happened, I remember the next morning, I think I wanted to like write
you and go, how did you know?

Hi, this is Joe Winterstein, host of the Spirit Daughter podcast, where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life.
And I just sat down with a mini driver.
The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men.
Actor, storyteller, and unapologetic Aquarian visionary.
Aquarius is a lot.
about freedom-loving and different perspectives.
And I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius are misunderstood.
A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership.
He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses,
and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all.
If you're navigating your own transformation or just want a chart-side view into how a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity,
and real life, this episode is a must listen.
Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast, starting on February 24th on the IHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast.
I'm also, you know, as we do this deep dive into everybody's reactions and what's happening,
you know, without knowing any really details around what happened that caused the cameras
to shut down, a lot of Taylor's biggest supporters are saying, and I think Taylor's even
kind of like hinted at it
that Dakota is
like trying to sabotage her
where is that coming from without watching the show
I don't know who he is or his personality
but where is it coming from
that they feel like he is out to sabotage her?
I don't know that that's super
again I haven't watched season four yet
but I wouldn't say there's anything
that we've seen that
they've just been volatile
like their whole relationship has been volatile
so I think people are just like
But he keeps coming back to her and she keeps coming back to him?
Is that what's happening?
Just like the ultimate toxic relationship.
And I think that because we all know it is a toxic relationship and it's unfolded in front of people's eyes for like the past two years now, I think they just think, oh, this is his next move because he hates that she's about to be the bachelorette.
Or perhaps he hates the fact that she was engaged, like because maybe she was engaged.
And so now he's just trying to sabotage this opportunity for her.
I think that for secret lives to be shut down for three weeks means that there is evidence that he's not lying about what happened three weeks ago and that the other girls are supporting him.
Are they supporting him?
That's just what I'm feeling that they are because they are kind of on strike right now.
And I don't think that they would be on strike if they didn't have some sort of proof.
I don't know
what
Hannah comes in and says they're not
supporting him.
They're not supporting him.
Hi guys, I'm going to jump in real fast
because Heather's on another Zoom
and I'm actually in the car.
They are fully supporting Taylor
to get the help she needs.
Yeah.
But they at this whole season of season
four that I'm almost done with it,
they want Dakota off the show
because of how he
react, how he sets Taylor off. Essentially, they do think he sabotages them or sabotages Taylor
any time she has something good coming up or she's ready to move on. He then essentially, like,
will love bomb her and tell her he loves her and he wants to marry her and everything's in the past
and that he, and like, so he does kind of like mess with her head in this like toxic cycle that they have.
And the girls do see that. So they have been very supportive of trying to get Dakota.
off the show.
Interesting.
So do we see this sabotaging behavior during secret lives?
It is, I would say it's a manipulative tactic and it's not super obvious, but there is like
a scene where all the girls go to L.A. for, to support Whitney and Jen on Dancing with the Stars
and Dad Talk comes.
Essentially all the husbands come, but some of the women say they only come because of the women
who have young babies to take care of.
And then Dakota shows up when, like, Taylor was, like,
kind of trying to, like, meet a guy and have him over.
And Dakota just kind of, like, crashed it,
which led to, like, a pretty massive toxic fight.
And then, I mean, it's bad because then Taylor slept with him.
And so it's just, like, a really vicious toxic cycle.
But I would say Dakota's not innocent as far as, like, emotional abuse
and kind of initiating this cycle.
cycle. Okay. So I was just referring to them the past three weeks. They feel like, but I guess
that's a different situation. They like just don't want her, but don't they like also not want
her to get away with it? I think they just want her to get the help that she needs. Like you'll see
in this season, season four, they constantly are talking to her about they're trying to support
her in a way that's like you have this incredible opportunity for the Bachelorette.
don't ruin it.
So they really try to kind of support her and trying to get him away,
but they realize, like, anytime he comes around, it's just like,
and essentially the reason they also think he sabotages is because it comes out
that he sleeps with a couple of Taylor's close friends.
And then before the girls have the, and then he tells her.
So it was like, she's four days away from leaving for the Bachelorette,
and that's when he decided to, like, drop the bomb on her that he slept with some of her
friends and it just like sends her into spiral. So that's where like the sabotaging comes from.
Well, thank you, Hannah. It's nice to have somebody who's seen season four on here.
I also have a question. Do you think that the guy, do you think that this is him that released the
video? I mean, it's got it's kind of kind of has to be, right? It's got to be someone or someone
very close to him. I do. I mean, yes, I agree with you. It has to be either him or someone super
close. There is, I mean, it's obviously his video. He's holding the camera. It's his point of view.
And I do agree with some people that the timing of all of this is very suspicious of this
coming out right now. But regardless of that, this video is horrific and it's, it's not okay.
But I mean, it's got to be him or somebody close to him. I don't know how else they would get this
video. I think Hannah just summed it up perfectly. This video is
Terrific. It is. It's not okay. And fans of Taylor or not, like, we were sitting here and we,
I guess we still are going, Taylor, like, we've learned a lot about you, you know, over the last few
months. And it's now this, like, plea, I guess as a fan of hers to say, please, go get help,
take a break. You've communicated on social media, how tired you are and how strung out you are and how
overwhelming this has been, you need to put your foot down and say it's too much for me right now.
I need to take a break. This video, no matter when it happened and when it was released,
I think the timing is suspect. I don't know who it came from and why it came out now. I don't know
that. And that's a whole different conversation about, you know, trying to cause chaos in the
midst of something good in somebody else's life. But we don't know the details of that. But watching
this video is not okay. Like when I watch this video, the contents of this video is not okay.
It's not good. Here's my question through it all. And again, I'm somewhat naive to all this.
So I know I'm speaking from a place of opinions and at sometimes even a lack of understanding
of what all's happening here. I get that. But I know enough from breaking down everything and
researching the Bachelorette and seeing the lead up to the show is this. And this isn't a not,
I don't want anybody to hear this and think this is a knock on Taylor or Dakota.
I don't know these people personally.
I don't know them at all.
But if it was obvious to the show and the powers of B and the fans knew that something bad happened in 2023, to what extent we just found out today what that video showed.
Why are we platforming this couple?
like let's get away from the Bachelorette for a second.
We have a Secret Lives and Mormon Wife show that came out.
Why is this what we're representing through Disney?
A family television, like a network created to inspire and imagine for kids and adults everywhere.
Why is this what we're platforming now?
It doesn't make sense to me.
No, it doesn't make sense.
Am I wrong?
Do you disagree?
No, no, no, no.
I completely agree.
This is like horrendous.
I think it's, I think that video with the child involved in the way that those
stools just flew at him, three of them.
It's awful.
I just have to, I guess, like, I'm just trying to think from the perspective of being in their shoes right now.
I think that there must have been.
something that happened in February to make Dakota take the actions that he's making now
or those close to him.
I don't agree with that.
You don't?
No, based on what we're hearing from her friends and from her is I wonder if he would have
found a way to do this no matter what.
He was loved, you know, the rumor is he loves bombs her, right?
Right before a big moment.
And especially if he is engaged and happy in a relationship.
Yeah.
So maybe this would have like maybe he would have found a different way.
It doesn't make his behavior any better.
We don't know, though, that he even released the video.
Like, we don't know any of that.
So we're just speaking on speculation there.
The video is bad.
No is throwing it back.

I just like, I can't step away from this fact.
And I think the video is so bad.
And if we'd ever seen this video back in August, you know,
when they decided that she was a bachelor out, there's no way.
If there's actual video footage out there,
they would not have done this.
I mean, they couldn't possibly.
Even if, you know, secret lives went on and all that,
we just, it's so much different seeing it.
But they were leaning into it, Ashley.
This wasn't a new chapter for Taylor's story.
This was, you know, an unpredictable season,
a messy season.
They were leaning into this idea that things were going to be chaotic.
Yeah, no, you're right.
They weren't trying to make it seem.
I don't know.
Sorry.
I'm at a loss for words right now.
Does the show air?
Does it come out on Sunday?
No, it can't come out on Sunday.
It certainly can't come out on Sunday.
And I think it'd be weird as hell for it to air.
You and I have seen the first episode.
You guys, we've already recapped the first episode on recording.
It would be so bizarre to watch that season after watching that video.
We just couldn't do it.
We also have to think about all the guys out there.
that signed up for this season and had all these experiences with her.
And now they're seeing this video.
Think about the guy that she chooses.
You know, I've been adamant that I don't think she chooses anyone.
And now that there's spoilers out there.
Like, I think she chooses someone.
And I just can't imagine being him.
Okay.
So to summarize all this, I guess, to put our thoughts in concise manner.
A video is released by TMZ showing the altercation between Dakota and Tate.
that led to the 2023 arrest.
That video is now out there everywhere.
I mean, goodness, it was released an hour and a half ago,
and it's on every news cycle that I can see when I turn on my computer or when I turn
on my phone.
So the video is not good.
It's not good at all.
There's nothing to it that isn't hard to watch.
it's in a lot of ways it feels um goodness i'll use taylor's words it's not only heavy it's also
disturbing um because there is this like switch that doesn't flip even in the midst of a kid in the
room chairs being thrown uh it's not like a moment to calm down it it just gets worse and worse as you
watched the video. And now we sit as our, you know, this really anticipated season of the
Bachelorette is supposed to air in just a few days and wondering, you know, will it air,
should it air? And if it does air, how do they even broach the fact that now anybody wants
to has seen this incident? And then on the back of all that, we've had an incident in February
that's caused the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cameras to shut down and for the contestants in that show to plead for Taylor to get help, as Hannah shared, and for Dakota to kind of take a step away from it all because when he's around, it's not good.
It's not even good TV.
It's just unhealthy for everyone involved.
And so there's a lot of still unknowns.
The pieces of the puzzle of what happened in February are still very much unknown.
but this video did come out and I do think I think no matter what
no matter what you feel about this no matter what you think about Taylor
no matter like what side you're on and all of this and I don't even know what's like
I don't know enough to make like strict judgments on this no matter what when
this video affects things even if it was in 2023 because it was released
like it or not it does affect things because it now gives us as Ashley said a picture
of what happened in 2023 and how bad it was,
that makes us go,
hey,
you can't ignore it.
Like,
this is,
this is too much in our face now.
Like it or not,
it's going to change the way this show.
And really,
I think Taylor's personal life,
um,
moves from here.
As Ben mentioned,
um,
I just feel like there are a lot.
There's no right and wrong.
I mean,
there's right and wrong here.
There's blatant right and wrong here.
Um,
but there's like a lot of thoughts and opinions.
and I just want to say that this is us talking out our thoughts and opinions.
Like we don't, nobody, I don't, there's so much.
We're just talking things out.
Yeah, but we're not afraid to say domestic violence is bad.
No, of course, of course.
We're saying this.
Like, this is what we're saying.
The domestic violence is horrible.
This video is horrible.
And that is what we know.
That is what we know.
Everything else.
Well, we honestly don't know.
We're talking.
Yeah.
But this is not good.
It's not good.
And something has to have.
happened. Like the like Disney or ABC somebody has to say something at some point so we know where
are the people that are, you know, pulling the strings where they, what they think about all this,
what they feel about it. If they decide to air the show Sunday, I want to hear why they're deciding
to air this show. Even if it is, hey, we've spent our whole budget for the year on this show. We have to
air it or this whole thing goes under. I want to hear them say that. If it's, hey, I want to know.
I feel for the people who worked on the show, not specifically the people that put her in this position,
but I feel like she that like everybody that, you know, it works behind the scenes, like so much
blood, sweat and tears and they're excited for the public to see it. And then this is happening.
I also want to mention something that Charity said. And you may have covered it in the podcast this week.
But she said, I think it was Charity. I'm sorry if it wasn't. But Bachelor alum, whoever you were,
said it's great that we can, that like the show lets you discover.
so many things about yourself and it helps you grow and all of that could take you away from a bad
situation at home but it's also not mental health like therapy it's not like a retreat center that's
going to cure your issues and if her girls at secret what lives really wanted her to get help
and thought that she really needed it i'm not blaming them but like if she was already in that
position over the summer where she was needing help the bachelorette wasn't the place
to get her therapy.
No, somebody, I mean, I would hope somebody that cared about her would have stepped in and been like,
hey, maybe not now.
Like, this opportunity is probably going to exist for you in another year.
It would have probably, yeah.
Let's just take some time.
As stuff comes out, we'll continue to jump on, talk about it.
A lot's happening.
Goodness, it feels like the last week has been a year.
It's leading up to Sunday's premiere of a very anticipated season.
of The Bachelor at that I know they put a ton of time, effort and money behind.
And it's one of the reasons why I would love to hear what they have to say.
Like, what are they thinking?
How are they navigating this?
It would bring a lot of clarity and it would sure up a lot of the things that we're
speculating, honestly, right now, and that fans are speculating.
But we'll see.
We'll be back.
Until next time, I've been Ben.
I've been Ashley. Love you guys. Bye.

I'm Bailey Taylor and this is It Girl.
This podcast is all about going deeper with the women's shaping culture right now.
Yes, we will talk about the style and the success, but we are also talking about the pressure, the expectations, and the real work behind it all.
As a woman in the industry, you're always underestimated. So you have to work.
hard in a way that doesn't compromise who you are in your integrity.
You know, I like to say I was kind of like a silent ninja.

Good people. What's up? What's up? It's Questlove.
So recently I had the incredible opportunity to have a real conversation
with actors and producer Jamie Lee Curtis from routines to recovery,
true lies and a certain
Jermaine Jackson music video
Jamie Surreal and Raw
and something I really admire
about her. I am so happy
that I'm the head
bitch in charge at 67
that I have the perspective
that I have at my age to really
be able to put
all of this into context.

I'm Clayton Eckerd. In 2022, I was the lead of ABC's The Bachelor.
But here's the thing. Bachelor fans hated him.
If I could press a button and rewind it all I would.
That's when his life took a disturbing turn. A one-night stand would end in a courtroom.
The media is here. This case has gone viral.
The dating contract.
Agree to date me, but I'm also suing you.
This is unlike anything I've ever seen before.
I'm Stephanie Young.
