I'm Dr. Joy Hardin-Bradford, host of the Therapy for Black Girls podcast.
I know how overwhelming it can feel if flying makes you anxious.
In session 418 of the Therapy for Black Girls podcast, Dr. Angela Neal-Barnett and I discuss flight anxiety.
What is not a norm is to allow it to prevent you from doing the things that you want to do,
the things that you were meant to do.

I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
Answer, a new podcast called Wisecrack, where a comedian finds himself at the center of a
chilling true crime story.
Does anyone know what show they've come to see?
It's a story.
It's about the scariest night of my life.
This is Wisecrack, available now.

This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcasts with IHartRadio.
Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast.
We love you all.
Thanks for coming back and listening to us.
It's Ashley here, and I am joined by Ben.
It's a special headlines-only podcast today, a ton of them, and a couple of good, juicy ones.
like why Tyler Cameron never became The Bachelor?
We have the answer to that.
I'm pretty excited about that.
But first, a little host chat for you.
Ben, how have you been?
What's up?
It's snowing.
It's May 2nd in Denver, Colorado.
It's snowing outside.
We got about an inch and a half of snow last evening.
Woke up to that today.
It hasn't melted yet.
It's actually still snowing as we speak.
Okay.
theory here, I feel like summer now doesn't start mentally until June. But like back in the day,
I felt like summer kind of started in May. Well, because in high school, don't you get out at some point
in May typically? No. In high school, we would get out in mid-June. Did you really get out in May?
I don't know. I can't remember. And then we would go back the after Labor Day. Okay. Well, I think
So we had like 10 weeks off.
Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
I just know this time of year, right?
You're after spring break.
Families have kind of taken their trip.
And you start to wind down the school year.
And so in my like adult life, I still think of summer on the same time frame as when we got let out of high school.
That's why.
That's why.
It's college.
Because you get out of college, like your final.
week is like this week.
College is a big mystery to me.
Yeah, I don't remember a lot of it.
Not even, that's not even like a reference to like overconsumption.
It's just like it felt like it flew by.
It was like a big blur in my world.
I have way more memories from high school than I do of college.
I love college.
And it's also not because of consumption.
But for me, it was grad school.
I have most vivid memories of grad school, one of my favorite years of life.
And I cannot believe I'm going on.
10 years since I started grad school, that freaks me out.
It also makes me really sad that some people that were like very impactful on my life,
like I haven't seen it in 10 years.
Yeah.
I mean, it flies by you ain't a young pup no more, Ash.
You know, we ain't kids.
Do you know how often I talk about not being a young pup?
Yeah.
Our new assistant slash babysitter is upstairs.
And she's 22.
She's graduating mid-May.
Okay.
And I sound like such an old fart with her all the time.
Like today, I was doing an Amazon Live.
And one of the those products that I had was these heels.
And the heels are really cute, square toe, like a thick heel.
And I was like, Maddie, these are like what's in today.
But wait, do you guys even wear heels anymore?
And she's like, yeah, we don't really wear heels.
But like for heels, those are cute.
but like for us millennials
that's all we would go out in
yeah only go to the bar
and heels
oh wow
like now we're chuggy or something
for wearing heels
that's interesting you know what chuggy means
you know what chuggy means i don't
no
that means it's like um
a gen z's way of saying like
oh that's so millennial that's so old of them
like apparently blonde hair
now is chuggy.
This is ridiculous.
I know.
I don't get it anymore.
So like skinny jeans, they think skinny jeans are chuggy, but guess what?
I am down for that.
I'm down for that theory because I hate skinnies.
And I love their wide like 90 style jeans.
Even for guys?
You know what?
I don't have an opinion on guys' jeans.
Yeah, I like my skinny jeans.
I like my jeans that are like a little tight, you know, I put them on.
I look at myself in the mirror.
I'm like, all right, dude, you still got something together.
You're still looking right?
Yeah, I think thinner-legged jeans probably still look best on guys.
And I'm sure that you guys think that skinny's look best on girls.
Like, you probably don't want Jess in these baggy-ass jeans.
But like, they're so comfortable.
Well, she just did it to our date night.
Well, she just did it to her date night.
She looked great.
But it was like, she like came down the stairs and she had like a top on that, you know, was
I don't know.
Crop?
Yeah, crop top.
And then she had these jeans on that were like really wide-legged.
And I did.
I took it.
I was like, whoa.
I think I asked her.
I was like, are those in style?
Or are you just setting a trend?
And she's like, no, they're in style.
I was like, cool.
Yeah, they're super in style.
And I love them so much.
That's awesome.
That is, that's big for you.
It's more comfy.
It's awesome to love a pair of jeans.
I don't know if I could ever say that I have.
We're going back to the old times.
I need to get back out my like Reebok.
um or starter like windbreaker jacket that i've held on to i'm gonna be flossing it's gonna be
great um see the term flossin i don't even know with what they think about that but yes ben to
answer your question we are no longer young pups however you have a young pup so i yeah i bet they
look at me and they're like yeah he's he's like a dad that's weird um you know i'm mad that you
told me what kooky kogi chugi means because i think somebody has commented on my picture
um on instagram at some point and said that and i thought it was a compliment um so that's
it's a little upsetting hey i do know something i did that was cool and i didn't even know it was
cool as a joke but i found out that i'm really up on the trends you're going to hear this is okay
what so i took uh wayland for a walk in golden colorado which is close to our home and i was
was walking downtown and we have a belly bag that's full of like treats uh that we walk
the heck is a belly bag is that that's all right word like this thing that you strap around
your belly kind of like it uh like it's it like it's like a like a bag um is it like a fanny pack
and you wear it across your chest yeah no it's a fanny pack it's a fanny bag i've always
i'm sure that that's probably like a midwest thing i'm saying it like that okay so
i have a fanny pack and i'm walking around downtown and i take a picture because
I felt like I was really like being a nerd.
Like I thought if anybody saw me, they'd be like, oh my goodness.
And so I took a video, posed on Instagram, and I got a ridiculous amount of comments back being like, no, that's like a cool thing now.
Like wearing a fanny pack or like a shoulder bag is really awesome.
It's like, well, son of a gun.
Yeah, you're supposed to put your fanny pack across your chest now.
I remember Bree Springs did that during Matt season.
and I was like, what in the heck is she wearing?
And then everybody was like, that's cool.
How about you get some fashion sense?
And now I see it everywhere.
Son, oh, geez.
You know what?
I just think the weirder things or the more nerdy things that I wear,
the cooler I'm going to be.
And so that's kind of my new outlook on life.
I'm just going to go.
I'm either going to go full, like, dad mode, like tuck in my everything,
wear a belt,
always wear like dress shoes or penny loafers,
or I'm just going to try to always stay cool
by wearing the stuff that was cool like 15 years ago.
There you go.
That's your best theory.
That's your best way of doing it.
Now, my sister, she's really annoyed that Jared wears jeans
with the rips in them.
She says that's very outdated and not cool outdated.
How do you feel about that?
Do you wear jeans with rips?
I've never done that.
I have really hairy legs.
And so if I wear jeans with rips in them, it's, it's like disgusting when I sit down for me to look at.
Like, well, if you just see me in shorts, you're like, all right, like, that's fine.
That's fair, right?
He's, he's got hairy legs.
But it's not that weird.
But then, like, you have jeans on and there's just like hair sticking out.
You're like, all right.
I can go without that.
That's funny.
Yeah.
So I've never, I've always been insecure about rip.
jeans. Do you have a hairy back? No, I have no hair on my back. Which is, you want to hear something
that I don't think I've ever admitted publicly. Yeah, love that. So, you know, in high school,
I still remember this time. I was like maturing at a younger age faster than most. So I was like
getting hair in places before anybody else was. And I was always awkward, especially like in the
middle school locker room when you're trying to like cover your body with clothes. You're like, no, I'm not more
advance in that way or this is not abnormal it's like something like you're ashamed of back then well
i remember this and and like i hope that i'm i'm forgiven i believe i am i prayed actually in
middle school that i would not have a hairy back because i was just like that's the one thing i
don't know how i how i treat it now nowadays i'm like uh i think jess would be fine like i don't
have like i don't think it's that big a deal but i just remember being so insecure that my
full body was going to be covered in hair i have a buddy out here in denver
he's married but he is so hairy like everywhere this is like crazy how much and there's some people
in this world that like love it like they find it like we go to the beach on vacation or whatever
people are like oh my goodness that's the coolest thing ever and I'm like well I didn't you know
I shouldn't have like prayed that maybe maybe I could have had a hairy back and people would
have like you definitely don't want a hairy back you got you know Neve Schulman catfish and how his his
chest hair like comes up to his like clavicle right here yeah yeah my sister used to think that was
hot she wanted a couple dates with him yeah see there you go it's a thing well um wait wait before we go
on i have to ask now currently what is your biggest insecurity about your body who that's a great
is it your hairy legs no no i mean honestly i'm i don't have a lot anymore because i still try to work out
I'm still trying to stay in shape.
You know, oh, I know exactly what it is.
It's my hairline.
It's not that bad.
I've told you this many times.
It's like, it's not bad.
It's just not great.
And so, like, I can't grow my hair out.
I've got to do, like, the little messy part over here because I've got, I've got the power alleys, what I, what we call them here.
Power alleys?
Yeah, we're like, I did not know that that was like what the receded bit was called.
Well, that's what we come out here in Denver.
That's what my friend group calls him.
It's like, hey, you know, you have power alleys.
So, like, it gives a little to that.
And I think it's a sign of wisdom.
But I would love, like, that straight across hairline,
that Ryan Reynolds ability to flip it around and, you know,
shake my head and, like, everything looks good.
But I don't have anymore.
I don't.
And I wish I had it.
I do.
Aw, would you ever do anything about it?
Would you get plugs?
Because you would.
So then have you looked into it?
Yes.
Yes, I have.
Oh, and are you going to?
I went to a consultation.
They said I wasn't bad enough yet.
Really?
Yeah, you kind of got to get to the point where, like, it's stopped.
And I've kind of been this way for a while.
So it could have stopped.
I think you've been like, I think your hair has looked like this for a long time.
And I don't think it's gotten any, like, different.
Yeah, so I could do it now, I bet, if I went back.
This is probably, this was like maybe four years ago that I went in.
And it was probably the same back then.
I was like, I don't want to be balding.
and like I don't want those kind of like I was I do have a little insecurity about it so I went in
and they're like yeah you don't want to get them done and then like you start receding back past that
and then you have like a random like bold spot on top of your head so it makes sense and it doesn't
at the same time because it's like all right but my dad now is like pretty much completely bald
and has been for a long time in every area except for like the Homer Simpson you know like it
goes like around his ears and around the back um but like you do that you
think that you need to get ahead of it because at that point it seems like you're too far gone.
Yeah. I don't know. That's what they told me. I mean, I just was with Joel McHale a couple weeks ago
and he got it done, right? I mean, it's like not a secret. You could look up past pictures. Oh,
yeah. Same with like Ben Affleck and Tom Brady and stuff. And those are the guys that Jared is like,
well, of course I do it because they've done it. Oh, 100%. I mean, you could look up like,
I used to do that back in the day when I was researching. I was like, who else has done this? And
I googled like hair transplants or whatever and there's like all Hollywood yeah all of
Hollywood did you makes you feel very much a part of the community I don't know if I ever would
it will I'm not against it and if at some point like I feel like I want to I there's a good
chance I would but yeah Joel got it done if you look up before and after pictures like it's
pretty incredible um what it looks like and I just like having hair I guess I don't know of course
No shame in that.
No one should hide it.
I mean, of course, of course.
It's like...
I think I would rock it.
I think I would tell everybody about it.
I'd be like, yeah, I got some transplants done.
I'd probably try to do an ad like Brian Erlacker did, the old linebacker from the Bears.
I'd try to be the like spokesperson.
Yeah, let's get it.
Get it for free and let's be afraid about yourself.
That's right.
All right.
Well, let's get into headlines, but first we have to take a quick break.
Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers, the pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this, do this, pull that, turn this.
It's just, I can do it my eyes close.
I'm Manny.
I'm Noah.
This is Devon.
And on our new show.

What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison
or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth?
Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced.
He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you.
Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs
that mimic military basic training.
These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life,
emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months.
The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you.
And we didn't know what to expect in the morning.
Nobody tells you anything.

It's time for Bachelor headlines. And yes, Ashley was right. We've got some juicy ones for you today. The reason that we're doing a whole episode on headlines is because we have some amazing content coming out next few weeks. We're going to be recording a bunch of episodes. And so today, we want to go through headlines because there's a lot of good ones in the next couple weeks. We won't have the time in the episodes to go through all of them. So let's start with this one.
this is one about one of bachelor's favorites obviously
Hannah Brown
she says to us weekly
that she used alcohol as a coping mechanism
to deal with sudden fame
she says and I quote
I was not in the best place
so she said that she had never really been a drinker before
and when she was on TV for basically every
once a week like every Monday for an entire year
she didn't know how to handle her life
so publicly like on the
display um she said that she always lived life with a smile on her face but she tried to pretend
like she was always trying to pretend like everything was okay uh but when she would go home by
herself the only thing that was really giving her comfort was a glass of wine and then she said
that soon enough it was two glasses of wine then three glasses of wine and then tequila uh she just was
not knowing how to like deal with all the exposure she says i have no excuses for the mistakes that
I've made, but also I was just not in the best place in my life. And I didn't know what resources
I had available to me. She also says that she started drinking at times at around like 11 a.m.
And just would never stop. And she just kept drinking more and more. And it was a way for her to
avoid the big problems in her life, namely the fact that she picked someone who had to
girlfriend, Jed, and she kind of tried things out with Tyler and Peter and that didn't
that didn't really work out. And she said as those things were happening in her personal life,
they're drinking got worse. And she just said that she's glad that now she's gotten the help
that she needed, the therapy, the emotional support that I needed from, you know,
mental health experts and from her boyfriend. And alcohol is now not something that she goes
too for any type of solace i uh i mean good on her for being honest about this uh i we you know
you get it i guess like i i understand it um you just it's we've how many times have we
talked about it like this thing's chaos when you get off of it and then you have all the judgment
all the criticism you also have that like kind of unspoken
desire everybody does because you don't want to waste an opportunity to um stay up and stay
relevant and stay in the headlines and then there's that there's that point in time that we've
always talked about here and it happens in everybody's life when that no longer feels as um one
needed two as much of an option and then three as uh as maybe like fulfilling as it once did
stuff happens in life and it sounds like Hannah kind of took that step too but
Yeah, it becomes a very, I just think, like for most people, even if you're never on the show, like, there's that period of time and life where stuff's not going your way or maybe it's going your way more than you ever thought. And it kind of like, it pushes you in a really hard, emotional place. And not to mention, wherever she would go during that year or so, there was probably always alcohol available. It's always probably being offered to her. And it's so easy and fun just to be like, when people are like, do you want a glass of champagne? Yeah. You know, like,
It's just hard to, you know, when you're like living life and you're on that high of, you know,
gaining fame and stuff and it's just always there, it's kind of hard to just not like let the good
times roll and roll and roll and roll, you know?
Yeah.
I told Justice the other night, I was like, you know, there's a period of my life where I think
I was out to dinner, especially when I was going to Los Angeles more with somebody, right?
six nights a week and then I'd be traveling the country for different things and every time you
travel the country there's usually a friend that you haven't seen in a while that you're like hey
I'm traveling for free I'm at this event I'm going to take an opportunity to see an old long lost
friend and then that friend is like excited and you're excited and so you go out for drinks and it's like
before you know you look back you're like for the last 30 days all I've done is stay up to one in
the morning and drink and go out and have big dinners and
No matter what, like that just doesn't, it just doesn't make you feel your best.
Hmm.
It does.
So.
Well, there's another person, Bachelor Nation, on our next headline who's not feeling her best.
Yeah, Tammy Lee gets emotional explaining videos about being done with.
And this was her quote.
She was done.
She said she was done with the Bachelor franchise.
She also quotes and says, I felt and I was so alienated.
This is according to Us Weekly.
So she was on Us Weekly.
is here for the right reasons podcast and this is what she said people think that i had this
vendetta against the franchise now i really don't i'm grateful for the opportunity i'm grateful to
have been part of it i wouldn't have traded anything in the world for it but it's frustration it's the
frustrations that i was having with a lot of people um like a lot of people do um and they just
don't vocalize it because they're afraid i just had it with them and i'm very vocal and opinionated
about it. I'm going to let my viewers know
what's going on instead of saying quiet. I'm not the kind of
person who stay as quiet as they clearly know. And when I
you know, and I just get really upset. Would I have done it different all over
again? Absolutely. I think I should have worked through my
emotions and had said something, but I was so hurt and upset at that
time. She says on her into stories back
in February that if you're not like
the favorite of the audience it's very clear it's not the audience not just the audience but of like
the producer she's saying it's clear and you're treated like this this is harsh she said you're treated
like secondhand dog crap and they don't care about you um or your value or your worth so she said
she just wanted to put a foot down and stop being used so that's what she's kind of explaining now
she's just like saying okay when I said that I was I was frustrated um I was not the favorite
I was like kind of like blah you know she's the kind of person that just like put it all out there
but like a lot of her castmates probably wouldn't so she's just saying now
that um maybe it's the consequences of being like too real and open
on this show. And I understand that. I totally understand what I just talking about. It's like you're the
person who has, you just feel compelled to say certain things when everybody else is like,
ah, it's not worth it. Yeah. Yeah. It makes that, you know, and that's, I mean, I don't know if you
call it a personality type or if you called it like a life decision or whatever. Yeah, I don't know.
Like, it didn't feel like a decision for me who just felt like what was natural. It's just like,
this is how I am. Blah. Well, and that makes for entertaining television.
TV. Yeah. It just doesn't always make for entertainment that's not then scrutinized and criticized. And also, you know, the clip. It's really good clip art when it comes to what the show shows in the trailers and the teaser. So for weeks, you lead up to, you know, Tammy or you making a comment or saying something that like for weeks we go, whoa, that seems aggressive. And maybe it was. Maybe it wasn't in the time. But.
it does, it does get tough because that is then the things that are criticized the most.
Yeah. So, Tammy, I know that it's not always easy, but if it weren't for people like us,
then the show would have no teasers. There you go. Well, speaking of emotional experiences,
Clayton Eckerd, the past Bachelor, opens up about Rocky Bachelor journey an emotional post.
He says, and I quote, I've learned my lesson.
This is according to the people.
He said that he eventually hit rock bottom.
And this, I believe, is like, you know, when the show was airing.
He says in the caption, Susie took this picture of me one day before, after the final
rose.
In this moment, I was at rock bottom.
Okay, yeah.
So that makes sense.
He's talking about his rock bottom.
Ben was when we basically interviewed him.
That's, that, uh, uh, uh, I don't know.
It was probably like right.
after our interview.
Yeah.
Dang.
Okay.
Well, actually,
somebody came up to me
the other day
and said that
they loved our interview
with him
and that we actually
asked things that
people wanted to know
we weren't easy,
whereas there were
some other interviews
that he did
where it was like,
they were like almost
too understanding.
Well, I hope,
I mean,
I hope it like didn't cause.
I mean,
even after the interview was done.
No, I hope we didn't
actually they did
to rock bottom.
No,
not at all.
at all. Well, after the interview was done, we got to talk to him. And, you know, we had questions on how
this plays out. We're like, hey, this two shall pass and just, you know, stay moving forward and
stay who you are. And I mean, you know, I felt like even afterwards, he was in a tough spot.
Like, he wasn't great. But we got to talk to him. And I, yeah, I hope that, you know, that didn't
cause any more pain. Um, and if anything helped him relate a little bit to two people that had been
there before. Yeah. He just had a horrible couple days having to do interviews and then when we saw
him, you weren't there, but we saw him a week later and he felt much better. But anyway, so he
continues to say, I knew what was coming. I realized my reality was much further from what I expected.
As I looked out the window in the picture, he's looking at the window, he questioned who,
who am I? What had I become? Where did everything go wrong?
Why me? Six months prior, I was standing outside as the first limo pulled up, kept thinking to myself how lucky I was to be in this position as The Bachelor.
Six months later, I'm staring out this window wondering how much worse things could get. But as I reflected back on it all now, since being out of the spotlight, I've had the ability to see what I couldn't see before.
I was too busy trying to defend my actions and my character
instead of accepting full responsibility
for not only what I had done,
but all those who I had hurt.
That's like, I actually love this.
I love that this, we're getting this from him.
He said,
he said that people are often concerned
with explaining themselves
and that prevents them from realizing the expectations,
explanations sometimes hurt more than the actions themselves.
And he indicates that when you say stuff like that,
it indicates that their excuses and nothing more than that.
And he goes, that's where I went wrong.
I feel like I finally learned my lesson.
I hurt people.
Sure, I didn't have any intention in doing so.
I thought I was doing what was best by following my heart.
but I still hurt people.
So there's like a lot more to this caption
if you guys are interested in going and reading his post,
but I actually think that this is like really awesome to hear from him.
It is.
And I think a lot of it too has to do with how this played out.
You know, I mean, he's happy.
And it's very obvious that he's happy.
And so if this would have gone opposite direction,
you know, maybe he isn't as thankful for these lessons learned.
But now he can look back and be like,
this maybe was all worth it.
Like even the pain of this could have been worth it.
Yeah.
I mean, it's not ideal and it's not fun to go through.
Most people that agree to be the lead does go through a season that's not ideal.
But you just hope in the end that it was worth the time spent.
And I would look at this from an outsider's perspective, a fan perspective, and say, hey, Clayton, like, we remember.
when things weren't awesome with you and Susie.
Maybe that argument wasn't handled the best.
But now you're together.
And those things are kind of a distant memory in my thought.
And it's like, I'm just happy to celebrate the two of you now.
I think that's how most people feel.
I don't think many people are probably like just harping on him for a really poor communication
that he did with thou, the girl that loves him and that he loves.
Like I, you know, I just don't think many people are, I'm sure there are some.
I'm sure there are, but we think they're crazy.
Yeah, it's like, hey, well, they've made it work.
Get over it.
If they could get over it, you should probably get over it.
That would be a good way to say it.
Well, on to kind of different topics.
We'll take a little turn here.
Jojo Fletcher and Jordan Rogers have an idea for a bachelor-inspired wedding idea.
And E is saying that it deserves a rose.
Ashley, do you agree that it deserves a rose?
does and now I'm jealous that
we didn't do it at our wedding.
She was, I think she's
kind of joking, but she
said that there should be
like an ITM room, an in the moment
interview room where
people can go and just
talk to the camera about
like how the wedding's going
and just like their best
wishes and stuff for Jojo
and Jordan. But they would have like a little
room set.
up so that instead of people, you know, writing their best wishes in a wedding book that
you sign, they'd have a little message room. And I think that's so cool. Yeah. That's a great
idea. Gosh, dang. I know. I know. How amazing would that be to go back and watch that.
Yeah. And then you had the wedding, like, you'd have the video from it. And the wedding video is so
fun the way it is. Son of a gun. I know. And then people could go in there, like,
little tipsy during the cocktail hour, the reception, and just narrate what's going on and being
like, I love you guys.
Blah!
It's like a photo booth, but, you know, video style.
I love it so much.
You guys should totally do it.
Jojo and Jordan, don't just joke about it.
Definitely do it.
She also talked about how the menu for their wedding is going to be Italian-inspired.
She said she's blown away during the tasting.
also kind of jealous that, like, it's Italian, like, you know, an Italian menu because while our food was
absolutely delightful and so, so good, it was still traditional, you know, like beef, fish.
I would have loved to have, like, a pasta. Maybe we did have pasta for vegetarian. Well, Ben, you had a
whole damn buffet. Yeah, we didn't do a sit-down dinner. We did, like, grab and go sandwiches and
pastas and uh chips and stuff like we just kind of nobody ever sat down for dinner unless they
wanted to sit down one of the tables so it was you know a little twist and different i would have
done it i would have never done it differently i loved that we just kind of went right into the party
uh it made the night more fun for jess and i but yeah um oh another thing that they're doing
is kind of like what we did they have a string quartet that'll be playing classic timeless and romantic music
Oh, and Jordan has an on-site cigar roller that he'll be having.
Solid move.
Love that move.
Good move by Jordan.
Sounds good, guys.
Have a great time.
I know it's coming up.
Yeah, they're going to have a blast.
I know they both have done their bachelor and bachelor parties.
Sounds like they're on the home stretch.
And we wish them the best.
Well, also wishing the best to Vanessa Grimaldi, who is pregnant.
She's expecting baby number one with husband, Joshua.
a wharf, this according to us weekly.
She went MIA
from Instagram for like
eight weeks. I didn't
notice, but then I was
like, oh, do you have to go MIA
because you were sick? Let's talk about
the woes of pregnancy
together. I'd have
not asked her, but, you know, there's
been lots of congratulations
from Bachelor alum, including, of course,
me and Jared, we're so happy for her.
I'm sure, Ben, that you said something
and she is going to be,
the best mom you know she just has like those motherly nurturing vibes yeah uh so so excited for them
it's uh it's really exciting to see this kind of stuff play out right you know we've been a part of
vanessa's story since her time on nick's season and and now we see it kind of come full circle
with nick being happy and her being happy and her being married and having a child so we're wishing
them the best as they enter into this season of life well also something that's a really good news
If you remember a few years ago, we talked about J.P. Rosenbaum had a illness that was causing
him to his body to not function well. It was similar to kind of how ALS would function.
You were losing muscle function. You're having cramps. Well, you know, we've then found out
that it was Julian Barr syndrome. He is now saying he's back to normal, but he says it was a
life-changing event, this according to us weekly as well.
Was this that far, far, you know, far back?
It's a while ago.
You were, like, recording in the studio in L.A.
I remember, like, hearing this news, I remember recording in L.A.
But maybe I'm wrong.
It was a long time ago.
Well, anyway, he's saying that was a very traumatic experience.
He said it was life-changing, eye-opening, and put things into perspective that life can take
turn just like that.
But after a couple months,
he went back to normal.
The illness causes
the immune system to react against
the nervous system, which can lead
to paralysis and weakness,
like Ben said, throughout the body.
It can become a chronic
condition, he said, but fortunately,
I'm not one of those cases.
The odds of me getting it again
are the same as me getting
it in the first place. So I guess the
odds are not necessarily high.
he'll be getting it again.
He also says that he's been doing, you know, well since it.
It's crazy.
It came on within less than 24 hours.
It was just like all of a sudden.
Here.
And then, you know, he recovered from it and hopefully he won't be getting it back.
He says it was really, really challenging.
It took probably about two months to regain mobility.
That's wild.
and, you know, him and Ashley were probably having, like, marriage problems in the midst of all this, too.
He said it was just a really humbling experience, and he's very fortunate to be making a full recovery.
It has a lot to do with the fact that he was diagnosed quickly and treated quickly so that the damage to his nerves were able to heal.
He said a lot of people aren't that lucky.
Yeah, yeah, well, I'm glad he's back, and I'm glad that he's fully functioning and feeling healthy and ready.
this next season of life for him because he's got a lot of new things on his horizon well let's
take a break here when we come back we have some huge headlines to talk about we're going to talk
about uh the senior citizen bachelor uh is it going to happen or not who's going to be hosting it
i wish it was me maybe it is i've been wanting that job for a long time now were you told that
it wasn't you yeah it's not me i don't think um but it was a good teaser i thought
it was a good teaser i totally blew it i'm so sorry
It's okay, Ash. Hey, you know what? If people are tuned in to find out, I'm going to be hosting that, sure or not. But I'm still not giving up. Here's the thing. I thought that it was done, like, because there's been no movement on it. So this is a good teaser in itself. Is it actually happening? I think somebody asked me the other day. They're like, I need this in my life. Like, it will fulfill me. Yeah. Is it actually happening? Who could be? Also, we'll talk about who could be the lead of that senior show. Also, why was Tyler Cameron not the back?
And then finally, stagecoach happened this weekend, and it was full of, well, Bachelor Nation people.
I mean, full of it.
We're going to talk about who was there, what was happening, right when we come back from this break on the Almost Famous podcast.
Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers.
The pilot is having an emergency.
and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this.
Pull that, turn this.
It's just, I can do my eyes close.

What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most?
brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth.
Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced.
He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you.
Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional
programs that mimic military basic training.
These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline,
physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Mark had one chance to complete this program
and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months.
The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you.
And we didn't know what to expect in the morning.
Nobody tells you anything.

all right ashley we talked about it we hinted at it the bachelor who's hosting paradise is
senior citizens happening and could bachelor pad return this according to variety it was an article
written so let's start here ashley who's hosting paradise that's the question we need to answer
first oh well we don't know who's hosting paradise perfect we have no clue question was
to the executives
has not been announced yet.
Okay, on to the second question.
Is the senior citizen show happening?
Okay.
So it says it's been teased for years,
obviously.
The pandemic slowed down development,
but the bachelor executives
are still hot on the idea.
Hmm.
That doesn't sound like
there's a lot of movement going on still.
The senior citizen show
is definitely going to happen
at some point,
Robert Mills,
who's, you know,
in charge of development at ABC says some point the response to that show is so massive that
every time we put up a casting call um it's just like like people are really wanting to apply
for it to happen he says for us we really feel a responsibility to find the right person to
be the senior bachelor so we're looking covid put a major wrinkle and everything so
now um we're back at looking for it well the other question the big question yeah finally
what's the big question i guess the big question well i guess that was actually the biggest
question the biggest question is it's going to happen i guess the answer to that is eventually
maybe see i don't know i still don't believe them based on that response do you believe robert mills
on their response it doesn't sound like it's at the top of the agenda they're putting so much into
Bachelor that I think it's kind of an excuse to say that COVID put a wrinkle into it because
COVID didn't put that much of a wrinkle into the main franchise. We had like 15 bachelorette
seasons. Yeah, but the older demographic is a little bit more at risk for COVID. And so I could
imagine them staying away from it. I think it's going to happen because I think it's such a good
idea. Again, that's part of my sales pitch. I think it's such a good idea. I think it's such a good idea.
ABC
that it's going to go really well.
I think it's going to be really fun to watch.
And so I'm glad they're early in development still on it
because that means I'm still holding out hope
that maybe I'll get the random call from Los Angeles
that I'll answer and they'll say, hey, Ben, you know what?
We looked around and there's just nobody else
that we won't hosting this show other than you.
And I would say, I'm glad you finally came to your senses.
But that doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Well, Ben, it certainly doesn't sound like
they've locked down a host, so I'd say it's, you got a, I got a shot.
I'd say a 50% shot. Yeah, I got a, oh, well, that's, that's a lot more. Yeah, I think 50.
There we go. Ash, I like your style. Okay, the only thing is like, Ben, they probably would be like,
this guy's way too young to be hosting this show. He's 20-something years younger than, like,
the youngest person on it. Yeah. Well, but I, uh, I could teach them how not to be choogie.
and that would be tight.
Way to make the podcast full circle.
Thank you, Ash.
Well, the second question to the senior show is could Gabby, who is the current
bachelor's or co-bachelorette, could her grandfather be the senior bachelor?
That was asked as well to Mills.
Well, he says, I would be crazy to say that we didn't notice all the affection and
interest in Gabby's grandfathers.
So you never know.
This is Robert Mills continuing to talk about the show.
He says, everyone wants to see him find love.
Gabby's grandfather really gave the thesis of what the show would be,
which is that he found that great love,
and we saw that he still wears his ring,
so maybe he wouldn't be ready for something like this.
And then there's the question of,
if you have one great love in your lifetime,
can you have an other?
That's really interesting.
It's not something that we get to explore on The Bachelor.
He's also said, he also says,
finding someone who has never been in love at an older age could be interesting too.
If we can find the person and the story that allows us to answer those,
that's when we'll do it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Again, still sounds like it's so far in the future.
Well, it is.
And we can find the person who allows us to explore those storylines.
Every person that is in their 50s, shoot, even 40s have those storylines that are intriguing.
Every person.
Like life brings about story.
Some of it's beautiful.
Some of it's really hard.
But everybody has like when you live long enough, you're going to have stories of triumph and pain and suffering and joy, all those things.
And so like that's why I think this show is so intriguing because you get people that are older.
onto a show where we get to learn about them and hear about their stories,
it's going to have a mixed bag.
It's going to be incredible to hear of people who thought they could never love again,
who are now out there finding love.
We're going to hear about the people who have never had love,
and they're in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and they're looking for love, hoping for love.
Like how just incredible would it be to be able to have an up-close personal look
at these people's stories?
I mean it would be so fun
I'm all in
so fun
and you know
Cabby's grandma
doesn't have to be the lead
I would say like
I don't want to be ages here
but Ben what do you
see the age of the lead being
because he might be a little
old to be the lead of that
I was thinking that this show
would be more for somebody
who was like 55
60
I mean that's just my image
what about yours
I was thinking like
I thought they'd
could do seasons with like wide range i really did i thought like no i don't think he's i don't think
he's too old i thought it would be like really fun to have people in their 80s um you know
trying to figure it out i did like really i was thinking it was going to be like all 50s and 60s
but i guess when you use the term which is senior citizens senior citizen is what 65 and older
i think it's actually now you get your arp card at like 50 um what yeah that's ridiculous
Yeah. We're not that far away, Ash. We get our art card soon, which means, which means cheaper coffee at McDonald's. Let's go.
Well, Ashley, before we talk about who was at stagecoach this last weekend and what happened at stagecoach. And if we know of any drama that existed at stagecoast, we're going to talk about Tyler Cameron. He mentions and talks, sits down and talks to She's All Batch about why he wasn't The Bachelor.
This is according to Cosmo.
Ashley, why wasn't Tyler Cameron the Bachelor?
Okay, actually, Tyler is not the one talking here.
It's Mike Johnson.
Oh, geez.
Why is he talking?
He spoke on his behalf.
Well, there you go.
I don't know how much Tyler is going to appreciate this,
but this is what he said to Cosmo on their podcast.
He goes, Tyler didn't want it.
He was like, I'm good, bra.
I got more followers that any bachelor will get.
I don't need the money that you give to me to be the bachelor.
I don't want my life to look like that.
And then Mike says, I don't blame him.
He says there are pros and cons to being the show's lead.
You know, you want to find love.
The negative is everyone and they mama, he says,
are going to say something about you.
And this is what this is,
he was kind of quoting Tyler there.
And he goes, he's not wrong.
The bachelor cycle is usually like, you know,
like they love you when you become the bachelor coming off of the other season.
And then they kind of destroy you once you become the lead.
So that's, that's that.
Ben,
when Tyler was on our podcast
when I was on my mini maternity leave,
did you ask him this question?
Did he have a similar response?
I remember asking something along the lines
of would he ever be interested
in doing something again on the show?
I mean, I don't want to speak for him.
I don't think that's true.
You don't want to speak for him like he spoke about.
I don't think that's, I just got the sense
that, yeah, he's pretty good.
I mean, he, because I think his follow-up was,
you know, he has his construction company.
and he has the
the like
assay bowls and smoothie plays
I think he's like busy
and he's kind of settling down
and so
I mean I'm sure
if the right opportunities presents itself
Tyler Cameron would probably say yes
but I don't know if the Bachelor
or the Bachelor franchises those right opportunities
maybe I just don't know
it doesn't feel like it fits now
it feels like if he
if he did it
it would just kind of
to be a weird twist to his life, kind of on how the progression is gone. But well, you know,
so it sounds like Tyler Cameron, according to Mike, said no to being the Bachelor because he just
didn't need it. Well, that's fair. That's good. I'm glad I did it. There's the only reason
I'm on this podcast. So help me out a little bit. Last headline of today, stage coach 2022.
It's been mentioned on, well, Bachelor in Paradise, many times talked about everything that happens at Stagecoach back in the day.
Well, their celebrity sightings include several people from The Bachelor.
Ashley, who was there?
I will add in here that my friend Blake Hortzman, who is a DJ and has been working really hard on that,
did get the opportunity to go to Stagecoach and have a set this year, which is a big deal.
It looked like it went really, really well.
But who all attended?
And then tell us more about DJ Blake Hortzman's DJ set on Saturday.
Well, let's just, you know, punchline here is Blake returns to stagecoach.
Is it the first time since it is, isn't it?
It might be because of COVID and cancellations.
But I can't confirm that.
I don't know that for sure.
Okay.
So Abigail was there.
Amanda Stanton was there with her.
her fiance Michael and
Kins, her daughter Kins went, so that's
cute.
Jojo and Becca were there.
Hannah Brown was there.
Katie Thurston
was there.
And
so was
Thomas.
Becca's, this boy
soon to be
fiance, as we talked about
in headlines last week, was also
there. And then what did you ask me about?
About his set? I mean,
there's more there, too. Alisa's there.
Jojo was there. Becca was
there. Hannah Brown was there. Okay, good.
Well, there's a huge group
that was there. Amanda Stanley. Obviously,
like, it's just ridiculous
how many people were there. But his set
on Saturday, I know a lot of people went out
not only go to stagecoach, but it, you know,
gave them a good excuse to go because their
friend Blake was DJing at the honky tonk.
So tell us about it. Okay, so when
Blake was DJing, he was
wearing a shirt that said
we met at
stagecoach. Obviously
it was poking fun at the fact that he
met multiple ladies
from Paradise at
stagecoach before Paradise.
It's kind of funny. At least he can laugh at himself.
His rumored
girlfriend Gia from Love
is Blind was also there
with a whole bunch of his bachelor friends
at the house that they rented. I think
they're not like formally out about their
relationship because they're supposed to be on
an upcoming reality show
so it needs to be a little bit hush-hush
Jojo and Becca
posted lots of pictures and Instagram
Reels. They joked a lot about the
fact that the cowboy boots were really
going to hurt their feet. They even went to DSW
to search
for a shoe that was going to be easier on their
feet. And then
Hannah Brown posted
a picture of her
very close up during
Thomas Rett set and
she zoomed in on Ashton Coucher's
surprise appearance during the cover of Friends in Low Places.
That's awesome.
Very cool.
Very cool.
Nothing to get a live audience going like that song.
No, come on.
I mean, one of the best.
One of the best.
In fact, I think Jess and I are going to try to see Thomas.
Yeah.
No.
Yeah, we're going to see a good old country show at Red Rocks this year.
Oh, nice.
So pretty cool.
Absolutely incredible.
Well, hey, that is all the headlines we have.
That's a lot of headlines.
I know you just were bombarded with information on Bachelor Nation,
some really good, some very vulnerable.
But all of it, worthy for us to talk about here on the Almost Famous Podcast.
And with that, I've been Ben.
I've been Ashley.
