This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHartRadio.
Welcome back to the Almost Famous Podcast. It's been here and today, we're doing something a little
different. We're getting excited about a new show that we'll be recapping here on the Almost Famous
podcast. If you're watching Perfect Match on Netflix, this right here will be the spot to get all the
breakdowns, all the opinions, interviews, insights, everything right here at the Almost Famous
Podcasts podcast. We're not going away from Bachelor Nation. We're breaking down this show because
we have two Bachelor Nation alum that have been confirmed on this season. If you're watching,
you've seen Clayton in episode one. You also will see Rachel a little long.
longer down the line here.
I have a special
co-host today.
Somebody from
the depths of Pasadena,
a man with integrity, honesty,
he shares his earnest opinion
with truth and humor.
He cares deeply about the listener.
He's usually behind the scenes,
but we're blessed.
Yes, hashtag blessed today
to have him join our airwaves.
Easton.
Wow, what an introduction.
Thank you, Ben.
Thank you.
I'm proud to say I'm one of the many people
that have listened to every single episode
of the Almost Famous Podcast.
I am a diehard fan.
I've been there since day one.
And I'm excited to join you today.
It's absolutely ridiculous.
You have been with us since day one.
In fact, a lot of our team have been around since day one.
You haven't jumped on the Almost Famous Podcast
as often as I think,
listeners would have liked. You are known for some fairly frequent appearances on other shows,
correct? Yeah, I mean, if you want to get into the multiverse here, scrubbing in with Beckett Tilley,
you can hear me on there. Sometimes my voices heard on Wind Down with Jana Kramer. There's a couple
other IHeart podcasts that we produce here at the factory that I speak on, but I'm excited to
join you today because perfect match. What a ride. What a ride. What a ride.
man. Okay, we're going to start with this. Again, we're breaking down perfect match here on the almost
famous podcast because we do want to spice the almost famous podcast up a little bit, break down
some newer like reality television shows. We're not going away from The Bachelor. We are
bachelor committed, but we thought perfect match was a great entry point for us because we do
have two Bachelor nation contestants on this reality show. Easton, we're going to break down
the first episode right here.
A few weeks ago, we had Rachel as our co-host on The Almost Finish Podcasts, as you remember.
Yes.
At that point in time, we had watched the trailer kind of preparing for her to be the co-host
and ask her a little bit about Perfect Match.
I want to hear your opinions on perfect match and its relation to Bachelor Nation.
It feels like two totally different, like, hemispheres to me.
It doesn't feel like I watched Perfect Match, and I told Jess.
as much as I want to be a guy that could be on that show,
like,
and say the things they do and look the way they look.
And I don't fit on this show at all.
Yeah, I mean,
I would like to see you on that show,
but for reasons I'll get into.
My personal background,
I am not a reality TV watcher.
I know The Bachelor because of my work,
but I don't,
I haven't seen a lot of the shows that these,
um these heroes are from on perfect match and i have not watched the first two seasons a perfect match
so i was going into this so cold and i think it's really i think the uh activities the games
makes it really exciting and really fun different i i do think this show is a much hornier than
the bachelor is i know bachelor paradise is different but like i was surprised at how physical
everyone was getting so quickly um and let me tell you
I loved it. I wanted to see more. I'm excited to see what happens next. And also, this being a Netflix show, this is like a Netflix multiverse thing. We're bringing in people from Bachelor, bringing people from Siesta Key. I'm excited to see how those people mesh with the Netflix people, because there's definitely a flavor to each one. And yeah, I mean, I'm going to be anchored a lot in the Bachelor people there on this.
Rachel and Clayton, because that's who I have the most, the longest relationship with.
Everyone else is kind of new to me.
Yeah, it's, it's a fascinating idea.
And I think Nick Lachet is a great host.
And I just love the idea of people having to become like American Gladiators while they're
also like making out.
That's something that's really exciting to me.
It feels like to me, I had a lot of hesitancy when IHeart asked us to break down perfect match.
I am not a reality television guru.
I feel like I could claim that I know about as much about The Bachelor as anybody else in the world
because of my experience on The Bachelor and my long-standing relationship with the show.
I don't necessarily, I would never claim to be a reality television person.
I don't watch a lot of reality television.
So I was hesitant.
I'll just say this, Easton.
I mean, I binged a lot of episodes because I was enjoying it.
I was, I was, I started out almost, this makes me sound like a prude, but it's not like I was
almost started episode one disgusted. Like, wow, this is so horny. People are licking things off
of each other without even knowing each other's names. They're sleeping in the same beds
a couple hours after meeting. And then I got into it a little bit more throughout the episode.
and I started to really engage and say,
I like the concept.
Now,
are you a Netflix-like reality show fan?
Do you watch any other shows?
No, I haven't seen them.
I'm familiar with the concepts,
but I have not watched any of the Netflix.
Like,
I haven't watched like,
what would that be?
Too hot to handle, I think,
and ultimatum.
And it's interesting,
because I only watch the,
Love is Blind.
I've only watched the first episode
of Perfect Match
because I followed the homework to a T.
I watched the first episode, nothing more.
But I think it's interesting watching the contestants bring the, in my opinion, the attitudes
of the shows that they originated on to, like, the guy from too hot, the guy from too hot
to handle, he's like, I am here, I want to have sex.
I am here to have, I, I am attracted to people and I think I am attractive.
I can't wait to bone down.
And then like Clayton, for example, is like, wow, we stayed a whole night talking.
And like someone who, it comes from a show where you build.
a relationship that you're hopefully going to end in an engagement.
You know, I thought that was kind of interesting.
So we're always honest here.
If we don't like something, I think we feel free to say it.
Oh, yeah.
Would you categorize perfect match episode one as something you like?
Yes, I would.
And that is, again, from someone that, I'll be honest, I watched Bachelor Winner Games
because I knew like half the cast, like personally.
And I was like, I can't do it, man.
I got to stop.
Yeah, I saw there was a part where Ashley was like sliding down a snowy hillside like on her butt and I was like I can't do this. I'm sorry. It's tough. But I enjoyed perfect match. I'm going to watch the rest of the season. I had a lot of fun and I think it's a really fascinating show and I'm excited to see how these people navigate these obstacles and relationships. Yeah, I enjoyed it. I think a big reason why I enjoyed it is because I was able to follow it. As if not a fan of perfect match, I was able to tune into episode one. And by the time that episode.
was done. I was like, I know what this show's about. Like, I get it. Yes. I understand it. I know the
characters. I know how new characters are introduced. I'm familiar with the format. And I enjoyed
that because it didn't feel like I was playing catch-up at all. Yes, definitely. They really make it
accessible for people that are jumping in now. Yeah. It's as simple as can be. I mean, if you can't
track this episode, you know what? Like, it's just dirty television. Like, if you can't get on this,
like, you might want to figure your life out. So here's how we go.
For those that don't know what perfect match is, it is on Netflix.
The series features contestants from other Netflix reality shows, along with obviously shows not on Netflix.
I don't know if Rachel and Clayton are the two first non-netflix people on perfect match.
Our producer is writing in saying it is a first.
We're in season three now.
So three seasons in, the first time anybody outside of Netflix has come into.
this universe. It shows couples pair up to compete in challenges. They compete to form
relationships. The most compatible couples then play matchmaker, breaking up other couples and sending
them on dates with brand new singles. They'll invite into the villa. This series is hosted by
Nicklishay, as Easton said. A great host. Really fun for this. I feel like he fits it well.
It is entertaining. Let's start with the entry of
of a perfect match.
Easton,
you want to take it away?
Yeah,
the intro was very cute.
A little kind of like produced bit of a
Nick Lachey looking like castaway.
He's like it's like Tom Hanks.
He's sitting on a beach looking like he's been there for a while.
He's lost on a desert island.
He's talking to a coconut,
not unlike Wilson,
the volleyball in the award-winning film.
And he gets a message in a bottle that reads,
It's Time, the moment I've been waiting for.
And then he says,
Coco, we're out of here
and he, so I'm assuming he was marooned
on this island, but now he's gotten the call.
He's headed to Tulum. He's got to make a love happen.
It's time for a perfect match.
Ten of the sexiest singles from around the world
then show up to this villa.
Now, Nick calls them
10 of the sexiest singles in the world.
I think they are 10 of the most forward singles
and maybe nine of the most forward singles in the world.
I do feel like Clayton did not work or does not fit this show at all
because he is there for a wife.
And I think everybody else is there for just in fun hookup.
Like a reason to share a bed with somebody as quickly as possible.
Yeah, that was something I was trying to like kind of talk myself through as I was watching it
is that I, I am so in Bachelor World.
So I was like, when people were talking about the matches and like, oh, I think I found my person.
like, oh my God, they're going to get engaged. How fun. And then I kept reminding myself, like,
the prizes you get to go on a vacation, I think. And so maybe they don't, like, maybe they
just want to have sex and spend time with this person. They don't want to get married to them.
And yeah, I don't know. So it's interesting because I, too, just like Clayton, I had to break myself
of that, um, of that mindset. In your opinion, do you like this more or less?
much more. This is much more realistic.
Okay. Yeah. I think it is. I think it's much more relatable for the average watch.
Nobody's watching perfect match being like, how could you not make out with that human?
How did you make out with that human 24 hours of phenomenon? It's like, well, you know,
that's happened in our life before. Whereas, you know, the Bachelor world I do think has this huge hurdle to prove to the audience that these people actually are in love and want to get married.
Yes, exactly. So 10 of the sexiest singles, uh,
from, as Nick said, or from around the world show up,
and they're trying to find their chance at love.
Something I thought was interesting,
as they film the, like, God, there's a term for it.
They're, like, interview segments, where the contestants are.
ITMs.
In the moment, is that what that stands for?
Yeah, yeah.
Look at me.
I'm just like I was there getting a rose myself.
As they're, when they're filming the ITMs,
they start with this really wide shot where they're sitting in front of, like,
a rainbow
rainbow corridor
is not unlike the Netflix logo
and sitting in a chair
and to me like the angle
was very off putting
it's like at crotch level
that really wide shot
just made me feel like
they're just alone
in a warehouse talking to
it kind of bumped me a little bit
but I thought that was
kind of interesting
and we kind of get to
we get introduced to
a few of the couples
as they enter the villa
one of the first guys is Louis
from Love is Blind
and I
last night about this guy.
I have a legitimate question about this guy.
I think he's actually a really fun hang.
And I watch him like you're like so many of my friends.
You are like funny.
You know, you are young and just excitable.
The thing that stood up to me was he continued to talk about how large of an asset he had in his pants.
Like I can't remember exactly what he says,
but he comes out the gate just talking about how big his hog is.
And I feel like, so my question to the group last night was
if somebody talks about how big of a hog they have
so often and consistently,
you would assume that it's not very big, right?
That's what I would assume as a hog honing man.
I would assume the more you hear about how big it is,
the smaller it is.
Yeah, you're proving something to somebody.
Like you're saying it hoping that nobody actually ever has to
can never prove that it's true.
Uh, again, I, I enjoy him as a character.
I question his, I question his confidence in himself when it comes to his ability to impress
anybody else on that beach.
I'm going to make the assumption Easton that everybody there is well endowed because they
look like they are.
They're studs.
Like they're doing all right.
He's also very insecure about his age.
He kept bringing up, everyone could ask him how old he was.
He's 23 years old.
And he's like, uh, do, uh, do you?
I'm a full grown man.
Don't talk about how old I am.
Yeah.
So I'm interested to see how his confidence plays out throughout this show.
But we're going into it.
I'm feeling like he's very insecure.
I jumped ahead.
I'm sorry.
Louis just caught my eye originally because of how he introduced himself.
But he's not the first one to arrive.
The first one on the beach is AD and Sandy.
AD is from Love is Blind.
Sandy is from the ultimatum.
And I enjoy AD.
I like her a lot.
I think she's a lot of fun.
I think she's very attractive.
And she wants a tall, muscular guy with huge features.
And Sandy wants a bad boy on the outside and a softie on the inside.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly.
And now I'm seriously suspicious.
Wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That sounds totally inappropriate.
Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age.
And it's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him,
because he now wants them both to meet.
So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?
To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hello, it's Daniel Fischel, writer Strong, and Wilfredel from PodMeets World.
And we're bringing you Viva Las Content.
That's right.
We are back in Las Vegas, the city of sin, and giving the people what they want.
A full week of Y2K content.
Wait, we're back in Vegas?
Tell me why.
Well, for the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere, of course.
We sat down with Kevin Richardson and A.J. McLean just minutes before they took the stage,
and our very own Wilfredel basically became the newest member of the band.
Boy band, please.
Plus, the man who has the longest running comedy show on the strip joins us and gets his props.
It's carrot top, baby.
And finally, we all L.O.
She-E-Hur, Ashley Simpson-Ross, joins us to talk about her upcoming sold-out Vegas residency.
It's a full week of nostalgic interviews you don't want to miss.
Listen to PodMeets World on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport.
The holiday rush. Parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys.
Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed.
There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal.
Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass.
The injured were being loaded into ambulances.
Just a chaotic, chaotic scene.
In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay.
Terrorism.
Law and order, criminal justice system is back.
In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight.
That's harder to predict and even harder to stop.
Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System
on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The U.S. Open is here, and on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain,
I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history.
the predictions will we see a first time winner and the pressure.
Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know.
Plus, the stories and events off the court and, of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open.
The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event.
I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans, whether you play tennis or not.
Tennis is full of compelling stories of late.
Have you heard about Icon Venus Williams' recent wildcard bids?
Or the young Canadian, Victoria Mboko, making a name for herself.
How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form?
To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain,
an Iheart women's sports production in partnership with deep blue sports and entertainment
on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
I don't write songs. God write songs.
I take dictation.
I didn't even know you've been a past.
for over 10 years.
I think culture is any space that you live in that develops you.
On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast,
I sat down with Warren Campbell,
Grammy-winning producer, pastor, and music executive
to talk about the beats, the business,
and the legacy behind some of the biggest names
in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop.
This is like watching Michael Jackson talk about Thurley before it happened.
Was there a particular moment where you realized
just how instrumental music culture was
to shaping all of our global ecosystem?
I was eight years old, and the Motown 25 special came on.
And all the great Motown artists, Marvin, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Diana Raw.
From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music and the purpose that drives it.
Listen to Culture raises us on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
There's a lot of innuendos going on at the entries of these contestants.
You can tell right away what kind of show we're getting into.
This is a show, like you said, that are just a couple of people showing up to the beach to hook up.
Yes, exactly, exactly.
They're trying to set the stage here.
Like, this is a show where it's going to be people having sex and hanging out.
If no one's getting down on one knee at the end of this show, they might be getting down on two knees, but not one.
That's good.
80 and Sandy, we have Louie and Cody.
Cody is from Temptation Island.
he is a southern gentleman
he says he knows he's a catch
which if you listen to the show
before you know I always go
if you say you're a catch
you've got some things
about you that might make you not a catch
let somebody else tell you you're a catch
Cody thinks he's a catch
and the girls love his southern twang
yeah Cody again comes from one of the
he comes from a universe that is like
so sexually motivated
Like the point of Temptation Island is to like try to get you to shoot on your partner.
So, you know, I'm curious what his ambitions are here.
But again, reinforcing what type of show perfect match is.
And we've discussed Louis.
We will continue to discuss Louis.
We can move on to Lucy and Madison.
Lucy, another Brit from Too Hot to Handle.
And I thought she was fun, but also she was like, she was trying to describe herself and her personality.
And she's like, I'm so fun.
I'm like the kind of like person.
you can't get out of your mind. I'm like a disease. I'm like a virus, but like the good
kind. And I was like, oh, that's a weird way to describe yourself, but I enjoyed it.
Especially on this show. It's very, it's very, you know, you got to stay away from the disease talk.
Yes, exactly. And we'll find out if Lucy is, uh, it will become a super spreader event.
Madison is from Love is Blind and she loves a bad boy with tattoos and she also drives a
motorcycle. Madison's very cool.
I think Madison has a tattoo on her hand, which I thought was interesting.
And her belly.
And her belly, yeah.
She's ball blasted herself.
Yeah.
I mean, so far we have a trend.
It seems like the people coming on perfect match and the Netflix reality shows want a bad boy.
Nobody's describing Clayton here.
Like so far, we have no Clayton describers where I want a guy to ask me about my spiritual
journey and my biggest fears and what I want out of this on night one.
They're like, I am here for a bad boy.
I am here for a tall, muscular man with big features.
These are not people coming in, like, what I appreciate about them is they're not hiding anything.
I think on The Bachelor, you might have some people that would fit on perfect match.
They just choose not to say it or it doesn't get aired.
At least Madison and Lucy so far and AD especially, like they're saying what they want.
and they're just having a good time going after it.
Yes, exactly, exactly.
And I think that's very interesting.
And also, like, when they're doing the ITMs,
and you can tell, like, the producer asks them, like,
what are you looking for?
I thought it was interesting how little we were hearing about, like,
personalities.
Yeah.
No.
No, no, not at all.
Something else I was thinking about while watching this is that I keep forgetting
that because it's on Netflix,
they can like say bad words like they can say swear words and uh i i'm in my mind of when we record
the almost famous podcast i mean you guys are you and actually pretty clean but like most of the
time i have to watch out in case you guys say a bad word and i have to write it down so we can
cut it out and i'm watching perfect match and whenever they would say a naughty word i would that part
of my brain would go off and like oh i have to write that down and i'm like no i don't
i don't work on this show and it's already done so i don't have to worry about that but that's
kind of fun and i'm hoping that beyond um beyond the swearing i hope we get some
nudity on here, too. I'm praying for that. I don't think I'm going to get it. I don't see why not.
It's Netflix. They can show nudity. I don't think we're going to see it, but they can if they want to.
I think we saw previews for like maybe Temptation Island or something. And I was like, that feels like
aggressive television to watch. Yes. Like you are, you are watching like without, and I'm with you.
I'm in this bachelor mindset where it's like, this is on ABC. Like families watch this together.
and I have never seen a Netflix
like reality show so it is
taking a little bit to get used to
just with what's being said
what's being talked about
and what they can show and not show
just a side note here Easton
and I would put myself into this category
when it came to The Bachelor when I did it
if you're going on Temptation Island
and the perfect match
can you really say that you're a catch
like you're going to like
you're going on a show that you know
is set up for you to cheat on your significant other.
And then you're going on perfect match,
a show that you know is just like dating around
as much as you can to strategically get to the end.
I don't know if you're in a place in life
to claim that you are a catch.
I have to agree with you.
Yeah, just by being involved with this show
negates your catchiness, unfortunately.
Yeah, I mean, I do think so.
Okay, Daniel and Ollie come in next.
Daniel is from Dated and Related.
Oh, I don't even know what the show is,
but it just sounds bad.
I had never heard of dated and related,
and I'm scared of what the show is.
It's single siblings that go on a dating show
and then like date at the,
like so you're like sisters in the same house with you.
You have to date like in front of,
like your siblings are there
and you're like they're watching you date and vice versa.
It's like date my mom.
I remember that show on MTV?
Like your mom would watch you go on a date.
Kind of.
Yeah, I want to know.
people that like come up with these ideas i don't love them uh but yeah he's an italian stallion
he's tall fit uh and self-proclaimed very good in the bedroom ollie is a brit from love is blind
uk uh he's looking for a sweet-natured kind and funny girl uh if she's a batty it's a bonus
easton can you describe batty to us please i was thinking about that too a baddie is uh i think
especially how Ollie means it.
I think he means someone who is
I won't say aggressive,
adventurous, uninhibited,
you know, attractive.
I think if someone is described as a baddie,
that means they're attractive.
That's how I would describe baddie.
Okay, baddie.
Juliet is next from MTV's Cesta Key,
so a non-netflix show.
She keeps hinting at this kind of toxicity
that she displayed during her time on Siesta Key.
I have no clue what she's talking about,
but I'm assuming that a lot of listeners out there
will know exactly what we're talking about.
I think she was a pretty polarizing,
also a pretty big figure on Siesta Key.
Very pretty.
And finally, we got Clayton.
Clayton dances his way into his intro package,
the dancing that's become something we know and love.
And then I'm hoping not only brings him joy,
but also,
allows him some type of financial stability
because goodness gracious,
this dude is getting either made fun of a lot
or celebrated a lot for his dancing these days.
Yeah, I was trained, you know,
dancing was such a big part of his intro package on this.
And the last time he's been on the almost famous podcast,
he's talked about his dancing a lot.
And I was trying to remember, like,
did this come up at all during his time as the bachelor?
I feel like this was like a post-batchel thing.
And then he says, like, oh, I've always loved dancing.
I used to dance as a kid, now we get made fun of.
And then now he's an adult and he's like rediscovering his love of dance.
And he's a fine dancer from what I've seen.
You know, the passion's there.
Yeah, he's doing it on, you know, he claims he's doing it.
And I do agree that he's doing it because he loves it and that he finds joy in it
and that it brings him happiness to know that he can do it because he knows he's going
to get made fun of, but he has the confidence to kind of show the world.
He doesn't care, which.
Hey, I'm all for it.
Keep dancing, Clayton.
Dance your way into this.
But we find him on perfect match.
Again, Nick Lachey's the host.
He comes down, and as Easton mentioned,
Nick kind of explains during this
that the winning couple wins a romantic vacation
anywhere in the world to continue their relationship.
So if you win the perfect match,
you get to spend more time with your person
from the show anywhere in the world.
I hope it's a good vacation.
The episode kind of transitions fairly quickly,
Easton, into a game.
that they're going to play,
get to know you game, more or less.
Nobody there really knows each other.
There's a few from similar shows,
or maybe they watch somebody's show.
It's called Let's Puck.
Again, that's P-U-C-K, let's puck.
It's a fun game.
They drop a puck down a board.
It lands on a specific category,
including like yoga moves
and truth or dare or body shots.
I mean, it's a good get-to-know-you game.
Like it definitely starts to fire out hot,
but the thing I'm missing here is as Nick comes down,
he starts asking questions.
Clayton right away throws out more aggressively than anybody else there,
and I think this is part of his strategy when it comes a perfect match.
And his new revived Clayton persona is he says,
I'm into Lucy.
Like, I like that girl.
Right away, he shoots his shot.
Yes, I admire how, because like,
Again, we've been talking about how Clayton is a more emotionally connected guy on perfect match than the other people.
But I appreciate him singling someone out right away as we play Let's Puck.
And it lands on it lands on body shots.
And we were talking about this off the air before we started.
But this show, this show is filmed with very high definition cameras.
And we're in 2025.
We're using state-of-the-art stuff.
And I know other reality shows deal with this too.
but we can really see how people are feeling the temperature in Tulum.
Everyone is sweaty.
Everyone is glistening.
And we get to find out that that sweat goes all the way down because when Juliet does a body shot out of Clayton's belly button,
and she says to everybody, there was some sweat mixed in there.
I just don't feel like that's a good start.
No, it's not.
I don't think it's like a thing that's fun for anybody.
I have never met a human that's like, you know what I'm into, sweat.
Yeah.
it's yeah it's it's gross and even in the best circumstances you know it's still kind of bumps me
it's salty and weird it's salty and weird and it's and it's an excretion things in our body that
we need to get rid of so it is it is a bodily you know liquid that comes out of our pores and
does taste very salty um juliet does not seem to love it quite honestly i mean i think
From the initial kind of comment, she's like, it was fine, but I didn't love what I tasted.
So Clayton does drop the puck, gets a body shot from Juliet.
Next up is, or Juliet drops a puck gets Clayton.
Next up is Clayton, he drops a puck.
And luckily for him, he gets Lucy and gets to tease her is the category with an ice cube,
wherever he may like.
Yeah, I thought that was interesting.
It just says tease with an ice cube.
So I was like, what does that mean?
Is it like, are you going to like wiggle the ice cube in front of them?
Or like, that's also the first thing that in my mind.
That would be amazing.
That would be such a power move.
Yep.
Oh, no.
No.
Not to.
But Clayton, uh, Clayton knows what he's doing.
He puts it in his mouth and he drags it up her body.
And, uh, you know, like, I think Clayton is a goofy dude.
And, um, but I thought this was, I thought this was pretty hot.
Uh, and then he ends it by putting the ice cube in her mouth.
And I thought they were going to end up kissing.
They don't.
He just puts it in her mouth, and I think she starts chewing on it.
Yeah, I don't know if Lucy showed much affection towards Clayton at any point this episode,
even though he was very, very forward in his interest or her.
We also got Lucy and Cody doing a yoga pose.
We got A.D. and Ollie doing a yoga pose.
Madison and Louie get paired up.
Again, we're getting Netflix-y here.
Louis eats a strawberry from between her breasts
and Daniel chooses Juliet at the very end
he lands on truth or dare
dares Juliet to kiss him
they do kiss
really the first like real kiss we have seen
this season yes I mean
AD and Ollie do this like yoga pose thing
and they do lock lips a bit
but when Daniel and Juliet kiss
it's a that is teetering on makeout if you ask me there was tongue that was an intense
intense kiss in front of everybody everyone's uh really riled up to to get physical here
ollie really matches ad's description for what she's looking for doesn't he yes very much so
tall handsome strong they they do a i'm sorry i can't remember if this is later in the episode
or not but they do a flashback to ad on um uh love is blind and uh i i i
was blown away by the clip they showed because it's like it's a and i forgive you know forgive me
i've not seen love is blind i don't know how the show really works but they're they're at a
wedding it's a full-blown wedding they're at the altar she's in a wedding dress they're a guest
and the guy she's with they're like do you take you know i i can't remember where her full name is
but you take ad to be your wife and he's like i'm sorry but i can't do this and i was like
wow what is this show you get do a full wedding and the guy's like undecided still and that's when you
find out. I felt terrible for her. I hope she, she seems to be having a lot of fun with,
um, with, uh, Ollie here, but, uh, I, I feel so bad for her having ended the love is blind
in that manner. That's crazy. I, yeah, I think, I think I watched that clip and when this is
even crazier television. And here's my concern for myself, Easton. The perfect match is going
to get me into watching a lot of reality television because I'm going to be so hooked on the
craziness. The fact that I cannot see myself there on this show is also the same thing that
makes me go, I want to know about these humans that do agree to go there on this show.
It made me wonder, like, because The Bachelor does this, like, they'll do little games and
stuff like that. But like, when you were The Bachelor, like, did they make you play a game where
you, like, did you have to do like a truth or dare type of thing? Or was there anything that,
like, made it physical for you when you were on, when you were the Bachelor?
No. There was never that.
And most of the games were, like, very PG.
In fact, I think they were incredibly PG.
And I think that's what you get in, like, Netflix,
is they push the limits.
But for me, I would have felt very uncomfortable
and probably based on how I want to operate in life,
would have to say no to most of the things I saw
in the first episode of Perfect Match.
Like, I would not be a good contestant on that show.
I would be saying no.
Somebody's like, hey, you roll body shot.
shot. Take a body shot off of them. I would be like, I can't do it. Not my thing. It's not who I want to
be. But I respect and enjoy watching people do it that aren't me. Yeah. I'm having a good time
with it. You know, at this point, I think in the episode Easton, I'm learning that this show is not
about a future love connection. It is about a partner to get through this process with we get
through the game.
It's a lot of fun.
They get to know each other very intimately.
And then we kind of get our traditional reality television cocktail hour, where everybody
gets to meet and chat.
Few things stand out to me during this cocktail hour.
One, the couples that already seem to be coupling very quickly.
Yeah.
That does seem to be, at first, it does seem to be Daniel and Juliet.
I think, isn't Juliet the one he sucked the toes of?
yes
yeah
he's in very into it
10 second count
he could have gone 20
no questions
he and juliet seem to have a spark
Clayton is still going for Lucy
I don't see it happening
AD and Ali
I think right away
I'm like this is a couple
that could last
actually last
like I hope this show
doesn't break them apart
because I feel like
they've got something special
it's that bachelor chemistry
that's oozing through the screen
yes absolutely um and during this cocktail hour and uh i i believe this is when this happens
louis starts freestyling um that's always to me it's i don't mean to harp on louis so much i'm
interested in him i think he's a cool guy and i really love his energy but like when when guys
start freestyling it always gives me pause and i agree it's a it's a wild thing to do or claim you're
good at. Exactly. And I'm excited to see if he continues to do it throughout the season.
Is this the last time we hear his restiling? I'm hoping not as much as it kind of bumped
me. But yeah, and the toe sucking too, I want to go back to because
they're on a beach. They're walking around. Man, I don't care how into it I, into somebody I
am. It's going to take a lot for me to want to suck toes. I'm also, there's another foot part in
this episode. Cody Spills his drink on
Madison. And she's like, oh, no, my, my, uh, Balenciaga is just kidding their target. And then,
like, he's like cleaning it up. And the camera like really zooms in on her feet and they're
taking it off. And I'm like, oh, man, what, what producer has like a foot thing on this show?
Yeah. I do, I do think in that course of that, Cody did mention he would look that,
lick it off her feet. And I think he did. She was kind enough to be like, I wouldn't do that if
I was you. Like, I don't think they're in a good place to be getting licked right now. Um, it's
been a long day. I am in shoes. I have walked the beach. You just spill on me. There's a lot of
things going on down there that I just would probably prefer you and you would probably prefer not
to taste. Yes, exactly. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously
suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast. So we'll find out.
soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know
each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That
sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's
former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly
trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we
find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not.

And finally, we all L-O-V-E-Hur.

The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys.
Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed.
There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal.
Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal glass.
The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene.
In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay.
Terrorism.
Law and order, criminal justice system is back.
In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight.
that's harder to predict and even harder to stop.

The U.S. Open is here, and on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain,
I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history.
The predictions will we see a first-time winner and the pressure.
Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege.
you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court and, of course, the honey deuses,
the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully
experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive
for all tennis fans, whether you play tennis or not.
Tennis is full of compelling stories of late. Have you heard about icon Venus Williams'
recent wildcard bids or the young Canadian, Victoria Mboko, making a name for herself?
How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form?

I didn't even know you've been a pastor for over 10 years.
I think culture is any space that you live in that develops you.
On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast, I sat down with Warren Campbell,
Grammy-winning producer, pastor, and music executive to talk about the beats, the business,
and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop.
This is like watching Michael Jackson talk about Thurley before it happened.
Was there a particular moment where you realized just how instrumental music culture was
to shaping all of our global ecosystem?
I was eight years old, and the Motown-25 special came on,
and all the great Motown artists, Marvin, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Diana Raw.
From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music and the purpose that drives it.

Easton, am I fair to say that when it comes to these shows,
any level of elementary hygiene lessons are thrown out.
the window.
Yeah, especially the ones that, like, um, take place on the beach.
Uh, you're going in pools.
You're going swimming a lot.
Uh, you're, you're, you're sweating, most importantly.
I think you really got to throw all your expectations out the window.
I, I know you, you haven't been in paradise, but like, I'm so curious, like, is everyone,
how much grooming do they allow you? Are you able to, not just allow, but are you able to do?
Like, does everyone just smelling like garbage and you have to, like, pretend?
Like everyone looks good.
That's my hope and assumption.
Yeah.
Yeah.
My hope is that everybody is so stinky all the time.
I love the idea of that.
I love the relatability of that.
I think on this show, you see a long day of hot beach in a villa with cameras and nerves.
So here's what the thing.
You know, nervous sweat is the smelliest sweat.
And so nerves happening.
And so there is a lot going on.
I'm also assuming that they're not waiting 30 minutes after eating to get into the pool.
Yeah.
That's fair to say.
There's probably some cramping going on.
Yeah.
I'm assuming there's some stomach aches.
Yeah.
Think about tummy aches that are happening.
Easton,
we have some matches happening about at this point in the episode.
The matches so far,
Daniel and Lucy are the first to match,
80 and Ali of the second.
Sandy and Louis match.
Kind of a shocker,
honestly.
It kind of came out of nowhere at the time.
Madison and Cody match.
Juliet and Clayton match.
Definitely the funniest part is the two of them like not like kind of wanting to match,
but like also not really wanting to match and just agreeing to match.
And it feels like there's no worse scenario than you're on a beach set up to match with another
human.
It is how you get through the night and to be the last two standing.
Like you definitely then feel like the rejects, right?
Absolutely.
You are the people pick last in basketball.
you are assigned to each other.
You did not match.
That's bad, bad, bad times for Clayton, I think, overall.
Clayton's not having a good experience on the show so far, but he's learning about
himself as he goes.
And goodness gracious, with the years Clayton's had, we need him to get a win.
But he does kind of get a win the next morning when he says, hey, Juliet, I know we're
going to probably have to kiss today.
Should we just do it now?
Should we just do it now?
That was, okay, that whole scene, they show everyone else going to their, like,
like rooms and implying and kind of showing that they're having sex like a lot of people are
hooking up they're staying the night together and then we show Clayton and Juliet and it's it's clearly
mourning they could not be further apart from each other he's like I guess we should kiss and it's just
like goddamn yeah this is amazing this is perfect guys nice job this Clayton what a way what a way
to intern to that first kiss with with this human that you're going to spend at least a day with
is saying hey like
guessing we're going to have to kiss today
like should we just get out of the way now
I don't know if that was game
I don't know if that was necessity
it was awkward
I will say as a viewer
it felt very uncomfortable for me
and him probably
but they do kiss
and he's smart to do it
because we get our first challenge
of the season it's a big challenge
it's a rowing challenge
they're kind of on a raft
together each couple are
and they have to hold a card
in between their mouths as you row back and forth to grab these cards and then drop them off.
The only thing you can use to touch the card is your mouth. And so if you drop the card in the
water, you got to go back and grab a new one with your mouth. It is a very intimate challenge.
It does bring these couples closer physically than, you know, probably they had been in the last
two hours since they woke up in the same beds one night after meeting each other.
it's an interesting challenge because everyone everyone on this show is in incredible shape everybody's very fit the guys are jacked the ladies are very toned like the first before i realized kind of how the game worked and they have to like pull the rope they're having no problem with it but also i was like what what i didn't really like it took me a while to understand the like card element i was like are they just going back and forth on this raft uh but it's it's it's a lot of fun to watch at one point louie and uh sand
Andy just end up making out like they forget the cards completely and they're just laying
on top of each other just making out which I thought was was fun we enjoy people giving into
the passion Juliet and Clayton are when they're coming they're going for their first card
and they're coming back and they're Clayton's underneath Juliet's on top they're going to sink
the water he's a big dude he's a very big dude it appears his head is extremely heavy and
it's the uh the stern of that boat is going is in the water and i was like is clayton going to drown
this is crazy he is i will say this he when he went to our event i believe you were there easton
when he came to an i heart event with us he is a massive man like there is no joke here when i would
say i am not a tiny person i am a i'm a six foot four 200 pound uh what i would say you
wouldn't want to fight me in the streets but you could probably beat me if you try
type of person.
That's who I am.
Clayton is easily three times as big as me,
like shoulder width,
like huge.
Yes.
The internet says he's 6, 5, and 250 pounds.
I would argue he's bigger than that just based on his money.
He's a very muscular man.
He's a huge dude.
This raft was not built for him.
No.
Their strategy immediately starts to fail.
We start to get signs that the two of them,
even though they work together as a team,
maybe not as compatible as others,
but this game is not about compatibility.
The team that wins is Cody and Madison win the challenge.
But Madison here says one of the most shocking,
shocking things that we see in episode one.
Madison says she likes Cody,
which is always a nice thing to say about the person.
Again, you just spent the night with.
I like that guy.
But his mouth is not her favorite part.
He needs a tongue scraper.
and mouthwash.
This is going to last him, Easton.
Like, this is not going away.
You claim somebody has bad breath.
I don't know if you can also claim
that you like them too much.
Yeah, that's brutal.
That's brutal to hear.
And I wonder if you're, if you're,
we were talking earlier about like,
you know, what would it take to suck someone's toes?
What would it take to endure the taste of sweat?
But like, if you really like somebody,
can you ignore bad breath?
Apparently, that is a bridge too far
for Madison. And something that I really, I don't know if you noticed this too, Ben,
but something I really enjoyed about the rest of the episode is that after she drops that
bomb, there's a couple moments. There's at least two where Madison and Cody are like talking
to the camera and then they finish a thought. And then they kind of, they don't zoom in on Cody,
but they, I think they boosts his mic and you hear him go. Yeah. Yeah. I can smell through
the screen. I can't get it out of my head. She ruined this guy.
She put a stake in him right there and then.
We knew this was not going to end well.
She ruined this poor man.
This southern gentleman who's going to try so hard to be a good catch
has now also been defined by the guy that has such bad breath
that somebody on the show had to talk about it on camera
and announce it to all the viewership.
They do win, which means they get to go on a date.
The dates on this show are exactly how I want these dates to be.
quick painless easy fun and very quick to watch the the most interesting part easton of this whole show
happens next for me it's the moment i said i like this show this is a good show i want to keep
watching this show it happens right after the date uh the next day cody and um madison are now
because they won the challenge they get to go into what they
call the boardroom.
It might be the only boardroom
most of these people ever see.
But it's a room with a very high-tech
table
that shows all the couples
currently paired together,
along with
some people that must be hiding out in the
local hotel waiting to get
called onto the show. Cody
and Madison, because they won the challenge,
have the ability
to bring on
two of these contestants
and match them up on a date
with somebody that already exists within the villa
so they break up a relationship
for a period of time
or there's a third option
Madison because the women have the power this week
can bring a guy in to go on a date
herself and tell Cody
to just go back to the house and hang out
yeah so if she does that
then their match is over right
like that breaks their match
I think as soon as the boardroom
my assumption
and kind of what I've learned is
as soon as the boardroom is done
like as soon as they walk out the door
the next week starts
okay and then there's the new matches
the new matches
everybody has to rematch up again
okay
yeah when they announced they're going into the boardroom
having not seen perfect match before
I was like what is the board room
is it a surfboard is it like
did they have to face Netflix executives
what are they doing
and like they show the big logo and I'm like
I'm not going to is this a thing that I don't know now
and thankfully it was easy to understand
but the gravitas of the boardroom
was not exaggerated. It was very important
and kind of interesting to see how they
handle it. We have a guy from
Love Island or yeah a guy from Love Island
which is a peacock show
right NBC
and there's someone from Love is Blind UK.
Madison chooses him.
A lot of power, Easton, in the boardroom.
I love the idea.
I kind of think Paradise should adopt this,
not to make this always come back to The Bachelor.
But I love the idea of contestants winning something
and then getting to strategically choose
who comes onto the beach next instead of
the always unexspeople.
because here's what can happen I see throughout the season.
People's feelings are going to get hurt because, say, Clayton is loved by everybody,
but he really doesn't like Ollie.
Yeah.
He could send Ali on a date just to mess with him if Clayton wins the challenge.
I love the idea of the drama starting not based on a producer saying head down the
stairs, but by the contestants having the power to choose.
yes it gives it like a survivor um kind of aspect like you know knowing that like the people you're
there with could be your greatest ally or your greatest enemy and uh it is really exciting and it shows
that like this could go any direction it's not just like what the producers think will be the most
interesting and then we get some random person walking in no it's it i love this i love the boardroom
too and i uh i can't wait to see what happens with it were you shocked that madison chose to
break up with Cody after they just won the challenge to go on this day with Freddie?
I was not shocked.
I especially even before the bad breath thing, I, I did not feel that Cody and Madison were a great match.
They were the second to last, I think, to match up.
Madison clearly reacting to Clayton.
She called him Clayton at one point earlier.
She did.
When they went to bed, she goes, can somebody come help Clayton with his mic?
I mean Cody. Oh, what a way to start. Oh, man. So I could tell her heart wasn't in it. I was not
shocked by this. I did feel bad for Cody. He seems nice. Again, he just needs a good mouth washing and
maybe some extra floss. But I, I, yeah, it was weird because again, I see these people
matching up. And I'm in my head, I'm like, oh, it's going to be like this for the whole season or at least
very deep into it. I was not ready for it to like reset. I was not ready for it to end immediately.
The Chiron even, like, kind of was trying to help me.
They were like, Eason, you dumbass, this is their current match.
Like, you would say, like, Madison's current match, knowing, like, these are temporary,
these are fleeting.
This could end at any moment.
And for Cody, it does right away.
Yeah, so we kind of end this episode with Cody going back to the villa announcing that
Madison is going on a date with Freddie, which is exciting.
So Cody has to slowly walk back.
and that they match
Juliet with Carrington
and they match
Sandy and J.R. together.
And again,
Madison and Freddie go on this date.
That's where the episode ends.
That's episode one of the perfect match.
Easton, any final thoughts?
I love it.
I think it's a really fascinating show.
I like that it's...
I enjoy how horny it is.
I really do.
I'm trying not to sound.
like too much of a perv here, but I enjoyed it. Everyone's very hot and I enjoy them making out
with each other. And I think I love the games. I love the boardroom. I think it has a lot of really
interesting strategies and aspects to it that set it apart from other dating shows. And I'm in. I'm
going to watch the rest of the season. I like it. This is wild television. Absolutely unexpected. Sometimes
my job brings me into places that I least expect,
but I'm learning along the way
about different humans and different walks of life.
I enjoyed the show, Easton.
I did.
I was hooked.
I wanted to see what was next.
I liked the videography of the show.
It made me feel like I was on the beach at times myself.
I really like the villa.
I think the villa is beautiful,
and it looks like a really fun place to hang out.
I enjoy also, Easton.
The one reason I thought I could do this show,
show, uh, was that as soon as you match, you get to go to bed. Like, there's no, like, reason to
stay up. And I'm like, oh, well, goodness gracious, that for me is an amazing thing, because
you're telling me by nine o'clock, I could still be asleep. Most of the time in life, that is how
I filter my social calendar on, uh, what time can I be back at home to then get a good night's
rest. Um, it's very important to me, Austin. Uh, we'll be breaking down every episode of perfect
match here. Again, Clayton, um, from Bachelor Nation, our,
Former Bachelor is on episode one.
We do know Rachel will be showing up to the villa at some point throughout this season.
I hope Easton is here for, if not, all of them, most of our breakdowns.
He brings a beautiful, honest, earnest, fun perspective to the show.
So until next time, I've been Ben.
And if you enjoyed this show, I've been Easton.
And if not, I've been Dean Unglert.
Thanks, everybody.
See you, guys.
