This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHeart Radio. It's another episode of the Almost Famous Podcast. It's a special episode today. We have some incredible headlines to break down. And Ashley and I are together for this Ashley, what's up? Hey, Ben, I walked in on a conversation, you know, walked in via Zoom, on you having a conversation about you now being the creepy guy? Can you elaborate?
Starting point is 00:03:12 Yeah. That's a good segue. The creepy guy. Yeah, so I was just telling our producers, we were talking about workout classes. We were going through their everyday schedule. They grind, by the way. Like, our producers work really hard. This isn't the only podcast they do.
Starting point is 00:03:30 They do many podcasts, and we're just one of those. So I was kind of talking to about what it's like to work from home. And one of our producers was saying that she gets to go to workout classes in the evenings. I go every morning. She goes in the evenings. Everybody has a schedule. Everybody has a rhythm. And I go to this class with my knee.
Starting point is 00:03:50 I really love it. So I do two different workout gyms. One is F-45. I do on Thursdays because that's their arm day. you know that's partially owned by mark walberg well that's why i look just like him and um and then the other one is called duality which i do uh probably three to four times during the week and what i like about duality is they have a heated room it's similar to core power so it's a heated room that gets up really hot i don't know how hot but it's hot enough that you're going to sweat if you
Starting point is 00:04:20 just stand in there and then you take like medium-sized weights and bands and it's like 15-minute cardio 15 minute strength, 15 minute ab, 15 minute booty. And I love it. Like, I absolutely love it. It feels so good on my body. Every time I walk out of there, no matter how early it is and how tired I'm walking in, I always feel like rejuvenated. And then I take a cold shower when I get home to wake myself, like, way up.
Starting point is 00:04:45 And I'm ready to go for the day. Really love it. Okay, so here's what's happening in my life. And I could, the listeners, I would love to hear from them on this. I'm laying in bed about a week ago and I'm thinking about how excited I am for this workout
Starting point is 00:05:01 and then I'm thinking about some of the really nice people Wait, you like lay in bed that I before thinking about you're excited about the next day's a workout? Oh yeah, oh yeah what kind of person are you?
Starting point is 00:05:14 I'm really crazy. I'm psycho. Okay. But, and I'm also married to somebody that does the same thing. So we just kind of lay in bed and we're like, are you excited for the morning? Heck yeah, I'm excited for the morning.
Starting point is 00:05:24 And so I am laying in bed with my beautiful wife, and I'm thinking about this work, and I'm like, I'm so excited to see some of the people that are a part of this workout with me every morning. Then I started thinking about it, it's all women. See, that's fine. It's fine. It's all women in there. And then I started thinking about the fact that I might be the only guy most mornings
Starting point is 00:05:46 in this class, and I'm the guy that goes in the corner because I'm not as good at the class as a lot of the women in the class, and I don't want to embarrass myself by standing up front. So I kind of hide back in the corner and the darkest place in the room, because the lights are off. And I end up thinking, I think I'm that creepy guy. Like, I think I'm the dude who's the only guy in the workout class with a bunch of women. And I'm in the dark corner and everybody at this point has been talking amongst themselves. I have this theory made of my mind that Ben is the weirdo that comes to the women's workout class. And I'm a and stands in the corner. So I have to bring the only guy. There's some there's getting to become more.
Starting point is 00:06:30 When I first started, I was the only guy for months. Now, sometimes there's another. Sometimes there's two others. But a lot of times I'm the only dude. And Jess doesn't go to this class with you? No, because of her malasma. She can't get in the heat. I understand. Yeah. Yeah. So she's, I've asked her. So I lay in bed and finally, I'm like, I'm just going to ask my wife. I said, honey, am I a creepy dude? And she's like, what do you mean? And I said, here's my scenario. I tell her the whole thing that I just said.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And she convinces me that I'm not. And so this morning in my workout class, I finally had to bring it up to them. Some of the women in the class that were in there with me, I said, hey, I just want to ask you like, I'm cool not coming to this anymore if this is how you feel.
Starting point is 00:07:14 But am I like the weirdo in the class? Like, am I the guy that you all are like, not wanting to be here. And they told me I'm not. I don't know if they would have told me, okay. I just want to make sure. Because I started to think about it. You know what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Like there's always like, you know, the workout classes are very like vulnerable, intimate. Like everybody, especially when it's heated. Like everybody's stripping down to nothing. Yeah. No, I get it. There could be creepy guys there,
Starting point is 00:07:43 but you're not going to be one of them. I have to be like, am I going to be super vain and like totally on. honest, the guy that's creepy guy's probably not that hot. He might be, but he's definitely, like, breathing heavily in, like, a gross way. I'm breathing heavily. I'm definitely breathing.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Are you doing, like, yoga breasts where you go, ah. Not on purpose. Yes, I'm like, and I'm like. There's a difference between me, like, and then doing it that gross yoga breath. They go, ah. Oh, yeah, no, that's not me. If anything, I'm trying to hide. I'm trying to, I'm trying to just not.
Starting point is 00:08:20 be seen because I'm embarrassing. I can't do a lot of this stuff for my knee or just because I'm not as athletic. But that's my story. And so I'm convinced at this point I'm going to keep going. I'm now encouraged by the women in my life, including you, Ashley, that I can keep going to this thing and I can keep being confident that I can keep going. But it did cross my mind. It's been on my mind. There's other things on my mind, Ashley, I can I do that I want to bring up later in the podcast during Bachelor headlines. But before we do, let's catch up with you. We weren't together last week.
Starting point is 00:08:55 You had some stuff going on. And so I ended up doing a men's panel with Bob Guinea and Jason Mesnick, which was awesome, really fun to do with them. They were a really great host. They have no clue what's going on in the pop culture world at all. They have no clue who any of these people are. It was great. I'm getting there, though.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Okay, so when I watch the Oscars, I pretty much know what's going on. movies more informed in, but when it comes to music, Ben, you and I both are really bad. Like, we know country artists probably, and I know, like, the top-tier pop artists, you know, we're talking. Not even that. Like, Billy Elish and Harry Styles and stuff like that. But, like, when we go to festival, like, we're the worst. I don't know half the people on that rundown.
Starting point is 00:09:41 No, nobody. In fact, when we watch, Jess and I watched the music awards this year. And I said, hon, I think we've watched this for 45 minutes. I don't think I've seen one artist I know. And the fact that you say, hon, you know, that like also. Yeah. That makes you feel like a married man. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:59 It's weird. I don't know. Is that just us getting older? That's us getting older, for sure. So you think the teenagers know who's up there? Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:10 I remember judging people of my age when they didn't know all of the in-sync members' names when I was a tween. And I was like, oh, my God, how do they not know? Like, how is this not part of their daily lives to know Justin, Joey, J.C. Lance and Justin, right? And Chris. And it's just not part of their lives. And now I am that person, except if there was a boy band that was really relevant, I would know all their names. However, I don't know all the names of the BTS guys. so maybe I'm like...
Starting point is 00:10:42 They're the biggest thing out there right now, aren't they? They're the biggest, like, I'd say band. Yeah, I thought so. That's what I figured after watching the award shows. I was like, no, these guys are legit. All right, Ashley, we have a lot of headlines to run through, some of which we're very excited to talk about. I have one I don't even think is on here,
Starting point is 00:11:01 but it's on my mind today, and I got to talk it through with a friend. I'm going to talk it through with you, if that's okay. Okay. Is that fine? Yeah, sure, of course. I'm going to assume I know which one you're talking about, but I'll find out soon. Let's move into Bachelor Headlines. Hi, my name is Enya Emanzor.
Starting point is 00:11:24 And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God. Perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psycho babble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.

Like, am I ready to be in a relationship? Am I ready to have kids and to really just devote myself
Starting point is 00:13:07 and my time. I wanted to be successful on my own, not just because of who my mom is. Like, I felt like I needed to be better or work twice as hard as she did. Join me for conversations about healing and growth. Life is freaking hard. And growth doesn't happen in comfort.
Starting point is 00:13:24 It happens in motion, even when you're hurting. All from one of my favorite spaces, the kitchen. Honestly, these are going to come out so freaking amazing. Be a part of my new chapter and listen to the new season of the Overcumper podcast as part of the My Cultura podcast network on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:13:44 or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps,
Starting point is 00:14:10 are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:14:35 And you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Every case that is a cold case that has DNA right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught, and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors, and you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum. the Houston lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Before we get into the Bachelor Headlines, Ashley, I do have a couple things in my heart that I got to talk to you about. But the first is this funny story. My puppy gets really mad when I leave and I pack. this morning I was just folding clothes and he like pouted the rest of the day he's been a maniac like just cannot settle down jumps all over me I'm not going to be surprised if he comes in here barking and biting my feet so we might have to take a break but the poor guy I'm not leaving just like folding my laundry oh see isn't aren't they so smart they are like they know they see that suitcase and it's bad news yeah they're so smart so sweet It's cool. It's cool that they kind of get bummed out when they see the suitcase because they know that you're leaving and like they put all that together and they're like, I'm going to miss you. This is unfair.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Now I have to do that with two things. Jessica and my puppy. I got to like console. It's so sad. Okay. Hey, my first headline is this. It just popped up today. I got a Google alert for it. Reddit, Ashley, is going bonkers right now. And I'm involved. And I got to talk to you about it because it kind of like... Wait, really? Yeah, it kind of like, it kind of like, oddly, like hurt me. But like for weird reasons. Let me explain the situation, okay? Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:16 A few weeks ago, Katie Thurston and I were kind of joking, definitely joking. Like, we texted with each other afterwards during Clayton's last episode or last few episodes. And I just kind of tweeted back to her. She was kind of joking about my season. finale and kind of me saying I love you to two people and I joke back I was like yeah but that's in the past more or less on a tweet I said I'm now happily married to my wife and I capitalized my wife I didn't realize me capitalizing my wife was like such a thing like I didn't realize that to the day I didn't know people were making like jifts out of it and stuff I didn't know
Starting point is 00:17:55 that was weird is that weird to do capitalize yeah all the letters and wife yeah Well, why did you choose to do that? Or did it just autocorrect that way? No, no, no. Because in my phone, Jared, for some reason, comes up in all caps. And it's really annoying. It's now in the, just like in the rhythm of sending the word Jared in all caps. And it's so annoying.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Sometimes I'll just send it like that, but often I'll delete it and come back. I'll do it properly just so that people don't think I'm like, Jared. No, I think I did it to add emphasis that I was married. like kind of like the hey this is funny in the past but now I'm married to my wife like at emphasis to wife but I guess people have like I'm sure people listening are like oh yeah we've heard all about this this is funny I didn't know it until today okay so anyways Jordan Rogers and Jojo get married this last weekend he has a caption that also capitalizes my wife and I think he was saying it in the sense of how
Starting point is 00:19:02 How crazy is it? Kind of the same way. Yeah, adding emphasis. Like, it is my wife. Well, Reddit picks it up and they start a thread thinking that he was like jabbing at me. And I'm like, well, one, I don't think Jordan would ever do that. No. Two, it's his wedding day.
Starting point is 00:19:19 I don't think I'm the, I think I'm the farthest thing from his mind. I at least I would hope so. I hope he's not thinking about me on his wedding day. But then people started responding with, I hope this is a jab towards Ben. Wait, okay. This is bizarre. The people have to be no way. Yes. Could they think that Jordan on his wedding post, one of the first posts about his wedding, he's going to, he's going to at you in some way. Like I'm, I mean, I'm cool with Jordan. I don't know Jordan well. I've only been around him a few times in my life. But like, you know, we have mutual friends. I like him. I'm very happy for him and Jojo. Like this is a great thing. they seem very good together.
Starting point is 00:20:03 So, like, I don't know why he would be doing this. And so I'm going to assume, based on what I know about his character, he's not. The thing that got me was that people wanted it to be a jab. They were, like, even saying, hey, I know this probably isn't, but I wish it was. Like, why would people care? Or why do people want to see me hurt? That's what I mean. Like, why would anybody want to see him not like him?
Starting point is 00:20:31 you. I don't know. After so many years of Jojo having last, been on a date with you. I don't know. So I was asking you, Ash, like, again, it kind of hits my, like, sensitive spot. It hits my insecurities. Well, Ben, you know that people just love drama. That's why. Yeah. People just love drama. I guess then they love when on the base of drama. there's some people in the bachelor franchise that are totally untouchable and then there are some people for reasons i don't know okay right like they just never get made fun of yeah they never get called out for anything even like in the case like this or it's just like a joke and it's funny and nothing should have ever come from you capitalizing wife right
Starting point is 00:21:20 and then most of us there's something that that the people who are hardcore do like making fun of and I think we just have to like accept that yeah that's tough but I feel bad that it like hit your heart you know I always feel bad when like criticism and making fun hits your heart who do you think let's like give them something to talk about who do you think are one of those untouchable people that like nobody ever complains or makes fun of well I definitely put jojo up there I mean I don't okay so the two people that came to my mind jojo and wells never made fun of. Yeah. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, I have a feeling Wells doesn't receive like an enormous amount of criticism or heat. Yeah. And like, neither of those people deserve, no,
Starting point is 00:22:07 nobody deserves it. Like, I like both those people and I think they're both cool. Like, it makes sense to me why people wouldn't be mean to them. But it does feel like even some of the most likable people that I've met from the show deserve or get a lot of criticism undeservingly. and while some people who are very similar to them get none for whatever reason. I don't know why. Yeah. Who do you think it's an amount of hate that really isn't deserving? Like, you definitely, of course, not deserving, but I guess there's some people that are just,
Starting point is 00:22:44 I don't know how to say it. Do you feel like I get more criticism than most? As far as like Bachelor leads go, probably not. And if anything, I would like be grateful that they're still talking about you. That's good point. Look at, look how many years it's been. Yeah, how far it came. And look at the bachelors in between you.
Starting point is 00:23:03 There's definitely some that has not been as talked about. And if you weren't being talked about, then, well, you may not have this podcast. I don't know. If anything, I'd actually, especially at this point, seven years removed, I would be, I'd be more grateful that I'm being talked about at all. Yeah. Yeah. It's, can I be the life cycle a little bit where, like, you get off and everybody's like,
Starting point is 00:23:25 oh, rah, rah, shishkambah, like, celebrating around you. And then over time, like, the only thing people have to say is, like, criticism because you've said something stupid or done something stupid. Exactly. I think you just nailed it. That may make sense. Because now you're not going to be brought up unless there's something topical. Mm-hmm. Who gets the most undeserved criticism?
Starting point is 00:23:55 That's a good question. I mean, my mind goes right to Olivia Cready back in the day. Yeah, right. You know, I think some of the villains that have came from the show oftentimes are just like undeserving amount of criticism, which is tough. I mean, I would have to probably throw Nick into that category like for a while. I don't know nowadays I don't pay attention
Starting point is 00:24:23 but I think for a while Nick could do nothing right in the public's eyes no matter how hard he was trying and you know he was working on himself at that time too I think I think that's probably like
Starting point is 00:24:38 where I would stop I don't know many people that just get I think Caitlin Bristow gets a lot she talks about it with both Nick and her it's almost like they're talked about so often Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:50 That there's bound to be the haters out there. Yeah. And I'm sure when it comes to the general population, more love than hate. And I would think so. Definitely more love than hate. I would have to think. So I just think like those are two people that come to mind just because Caitlin talks about it a lot on her Instagram. Like she, you know, will be like, I can't take this anymore and she has to take a break.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Like that's common for her to express this. And so I'm like, she's getting a lot more criticism than I think. I would definitely more criticism than what's deserved, but it feels like oftentimes a lot. I just don't read a lot, so I don't really know anymore, but... I go through my phases. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Sometimes I read, like, all of it, and then sometimes I'll go months reading none of it. Like, I just went, like, a whole year without reading any of it. And now I'm like, hmm, that's interesting. As long as it's not life altering and character changing, then I guess my response would be, keep talking because it keeps me on the podcast. I think so.
Starting point is 00:25:55 I think you flip the narrative of yourself there a little bit. And if anything, they're talking about how much, like, you love having a wife. Yeah, there we go. And hey, I can take that. Okay, hey, speaking to love, Ashley, moving on, Becca Tilly confirms her relationship with Haley after Bachelor-themed music video, third times a charm. This according to Us Weekly could not be just not happier. Just like more joy filled for for Becca and Haley, but Becca especially because I love her, care about her deeply. She's an incredible human to me.
Starting point is 00:26:39 Always has been. And this has been known for a while. I don't think it's a secret now. It's definitely not been a secret, I feel like, to their hardcore fans out there. You know, the listeners of scrubbing in, they've definitely been speculating about it for a while. You know, Haley's been on Becca's Instagram, like, just featured as what one might think is a friend for some time. And I think, like, a lot of the sleuthers have put two and two together. Becca's been really open about how she's been in her relationship for four years now. but she's never said who with and then she always avoided using the term she like pronouns on their podcast and yeah so the relationship itself hasn't really been
Starting point is 00:27:27 secretive it's just been like who she was in a relationship with and oh you know most of most of their friends all new but it just hasn't been public and we are just like so happy that she can show off her relationship now and how happy they've been the past four years. When did you find out? Oh, a long time ago. Um, like did Becca tell you privately? Or did you find out beforehand? No, she told me privately. Uh, I want to say it was almost like an I heart fest. Um, but then her and Haley came to our wedding together. Um, and that was a big deal for them. I think that was their first time in public, um, together. But I don't know. It's been, I mean, it's been so long, Ash, that I can't, I can't remember. However, I do remember being with Jessica
Starting point is 00:28:20 when we were told. And so that had to be, you know, three and a half years ago. Uh, and it was, we were new to that thing. So I think it was on the first time that Jessica met Becca and they became fast friends. It's, uh, it's super awesome. Now, we do have, uh, our producer Easton, who also works on the scrubbing in podcast here with us. He's going to jump on and talk about what life has been like for him in the last four years trying to keep this thing a secret. First of all, thanks, Ben. It's great to be here on the Almost Famous Podcast.
Starting point is 00:28:54 We love you on here. You should just be like a third co-host sometime. It's a joy. You know, it's weird because, you know, we wanted to maintain Becca's privacy. And something she always says that I really like is being private and not secret. yeah so like um because i you know i don't know what people that are in the public eye i mean it must be so hard when you're like in a relationship like how much do you share with people that that's something that i can't imagine what that's like uh but like um we did a scrubbing in live
Starting point is 00:29:29 podcast in early 2020 and haley was there and i'm i'm a big haley kioka fan just of her music um and i was like i took a picture with her and i'm like oh can i post the picture is i'm like yeah go for it Yeah, yeah. And like, I don't know. It was this, it was cool. They were never like, it was never like super secret. It was just not out there. It's like when we would do the podcast, Becca would, yeah, she'd avoid using pronouns. And like, that was like, when we do these podcasts, you know, most of the time it's just listening for bad words. But like on that one, it was like, okay, did she, did she or they? And we'd have to go back and like chop it up or something. So personally and selfishly, I'm just glad I can let my guard down on that.
Starting point is 00:30:11 one less thing to listen for but I'm just we're all so happy for her it's just it's so exciting and seeing all of her fans like watch this happen and then post I felt empowered to share my relationship for the first time because of seeing this
Starting point is 00:30:29 and like that just is incredible and I'm so proud of them and happy for them yeah it's so it's so weird though you know Easton I don't know if you feel this way or actually like it's been so long. And obviously, you know, it is not our story to tell. So we can't, we can't talk when Becca comes on or when we talk about Becca in a headline. Like, we can't share about this piece
Starting point is 00:30:52 of her life. But it's been so long that I just kind of like, in a sense, I forgot it wasn't public. Like, it's like, I hear it's like, of course, like they're, they've been together for so long. Do we have any idea? And Ethan, you don't answer this since you're a lot closer, but if you want to and you feel comfortable to, you can't. Like, why now? Like, what? Like, what happened to where four years in, they said, okay, this is, this is when we want to talk about it publicly? I, you know, I don't know exactly, but I will say, because the, the reveal, I guess you could call it a soft reveal. Yeah. Was in, what did they call it now?
Starting point is 00:31:29 What did they call? A soft launch. Yeah. This is a, I feel like this is a hard launch. So, Haley Koko just put out a song called For the Girls, which is very good. And the music video is Bachelor theme, because Haley is a big bachelor. fan and uh at the end of the video at the very end becca shows up to as a contestant to like the bachelor house and as becca likes to say she's always great at showing up late
Starting point is 00:31:55 exactly on the bachelor and in her life yes yes her main talent uh she uh she said that you know it was a little nod to um you know crashing your season ben and uh showing up late but um the if you watch that video like I was I was watching it going like oh they're going to they're going to kiss or something like this is going to be the big reveal but she just kind of shows up she doesn't nothing happens after she just shows her face the video ends and I was like okay I guess it's not is it confirmed yet I don't know and then like the next day then Becca posted this reel of all these really sweet moments from the last few years of their relationship but um so I don't know like personally I was thinking like oh are they going to are they using the music video as a way
Starting point is 00:32:40 to like announce the relationship. But I think it just felt like the right time. I don't think it was a, there was any particular reason why now. It just, it's like, okay, you know, it was ours. It was our secret. It was our, it was just for us for such a long time. Now we're ready to share it with the world.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Yeah. But yeah. I saw some, you know, buzz of the speculation with the music video coming out. And the time, you know, people were like counting down the moments, the minutes to the music video was going to be released. And then when it was, and I saw that she just gets, you know, I'm waiting to see Becca and waiting, waiting, waiting, and I texted her like an hour earlier.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And I was like, is something big about to happen with the next something minutes? And she was like, oh, my God, how'd you know? I was like, I'm reading gossip boards. Then when I saw the video, I was like, okay, it's still a little tongue and cheek. Like, we're still trying to be like, are there? Yeah, but then she posted the real, which was adorable. It's a big deal. It's a big deal for Bachelor Nation.
Starting point is 00:33:40 It's a big deal for Becca and Haley. And, yeah, it's just, Becca's such an incredible. I mean, I don't know Haley that well. I just, I just care about Becca so much. And I think anybody that's met her does as well because she's just a great soul. And anybody listens to Scrubbing in, which a lot of our listeners are crossover, her and Tanya are so good together. And you get a good taste of who Becca is to her friendships.
Starting point is 00:34:09 and to the people around her. And so it's a big announcement. We're very happy for her. And yeah, now it's out and open. And, Easton, your job just got a lot easier. So congratulations to you. Yeah, man, time to coast on this one. Time to hit snooze.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Headphones off. Well, when reading these articles about the two of them, one quote from her podcast came up. And that was about a year and some months ago, She said that I'm 95% sure that the person that I'm with right now is the person that I will marry. So, I mean, all right. So stay tuned for that. Yeah, now we get to look forward to the future.

I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family.
Starting point is 00:37:02 And then he came to my house. so what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club a new podcast called wisecrack where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage available now listen to wisecrack on the iHeart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts hi i'm jenica lopez and in the new season of the overcover podcast i'm taking you on an exciting journey of self-reflection am i ready to this new part of my life. All from one of my favorite spaces, the kitchen. Honestly, these are going to come out so freaking amazing. Be a part of my new chapter and listen to the new season of the Overcomber podcast as part of the My Cultura podcast
Starting point is 00:38:15 network on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately, from
Starting point is 00:38:32 Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming and you don't know who's next to you.
Starting point is 00:39:11 And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. this is a crazy one it's not undersell i know we're coming off of a big announcement um there with beck and haley but this is a big announcement too jesse palmer will take over hosting duties on bachelor in paradise wells adams to return as bartender this according to us weekly as well ben i thought this was going to be the thing that was on your heart that you wanted to discuss no i had to talk i had to talk about
Starting point is 00:39:55 reddit this guy yeah well a lot less important i i just had to get it out there I just had to talk to you, Ash, but now we're good. We're fine. Okay, I thought you were going to be disappointed in this because you are so close to Wells and I think so many people are rooting him to be the host. And it was kind of surprising that they announced this week that, I guess not that they announced it,
Starting point is 00:40:15 but the fact that Jesse was going to continue as the host of all the shows, I think, I don't want to get like anybody annoyed at me. But I don't know that the show is ready to make somebody who was in, the recent history, a cast member, become a host that quick. And I know five years, five, six years is a quick turn, or is, you know, I would say, you know, he's been in the host role as the bartender for a while. But I think that there's a part of them that's like, no, we
Starting point is 00:40:52 cannot let him graduate to host level yet. And they may feel the same way about you because, you know, he didn't get the job as, or not yet, you haven't gotten the job as the elderly, the elderly. I'm not getting the job. I haven't got a call. You see, you haven't gotten a call, okay? And I think that a lot of people think that you would be a natural replacement, a host replacement. You were up in the air when they were looking for somebody to fill in Chris Harrison's shoes. I don't think they want to give people from the past decade or so that elevation.
Starting point is 00:41:26 What do you think about that? well I'm not speaking for anybody here because I don't know of course I don't know either I'm speculating this is how you make a podcast interesting no I'm not that I wasn't going that direction when it comes to them I'm talking about Wells and myself I would have a feeling if they don't I mean Wells is almost 40 years old oh my gosh here's my believe no wait is he 36 he's like 37 yeah 37 um so he'll be 38 if the next go around right uh i when is his birthday isn't it in may yeah yeah because we wish him a happy birthday i did um but i have a feeling if they don't use him they're going to lose him that's my thought this is his last time as bartender i feel like and and if he doesn't get graduated next year i think you're right he's gonna be gone yeah so that would be my thought is okay cool you want to wait five years six years it's kind of like our conversation we We always talk about when it comes to breakups.
Starting point is 00:42:30 How long is too long until you can get back and, you know, date again? It's kind of here. How long is too long until you can use somebody as a host? I don't think that's the question that should be being asked. I think it's, is the person ready? Have they shown qualities of it? Have they committed to it? Are they a part of the show already?
Starting point is 00:42:46 Check, check, check, check. Well, if Wells was announced as the host, nobody blinks an eye other than probably in celebration of the fact that Wells is getting a job as host, I would do it, right? Like there's a lot of people in Bachelor Nation that would be like, I want to host this show. I want to be involved more, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Myself included there. I want to host a senior show.
Starting point is 00:43:07 I just want to call myself out now. Okay. Because I'm a dumbass. They had Caitlin and Tasha be host. So obviously I'm wrong. There you go. Okay. My theory is currently now debunked.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Debunk. So now we're talking about where their mindset is at, where the show or where the fans mindset is at. There's a lot of people that are like, hey, I would just like that job. That feels like a fun job. It feels like a job that's a big part of my life and always will be at some level. It feels like a good fit. You know, I could sell that in many different ways.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Now, I think that with Wells, it was a very obvious fit. He's already the host of that show. I mean, I know Jesse is going to be there. And don't get me wrong here. Even when Chris Harrison was still hosting this Bachelor in Paradise, Wells was probably just as known as a guide and mediator and supporter to the people on the beach as Chris was at the time. And Chris already had the longstanding title as host of the franchise. Now with Jesse there, I have a feeling Wells is unless they eliminate his role and show him less. He's still going
Starting point is 00:44:15 to be the guy that everybody sees as the Paradise Dude. I go to these golf tournaments with him Ashley. Everybody knows him from Paradise. Everybody wants him to make him. a drink for him. Everybody wants to talk to him about the beach. I mean, it just feels like that. It's Wells' show now. And I don't know how you get, I don't, I think the hard job now is how do you get it away from being well as a show and give it to Jesse? Because I, I think people are going to still see it as well as a show as they watch. I just have so many questions now. I'm just like pondering, just pondering. And I'm also reflecting on how stupid I was. to not think about the Caitlin and Tasha thing.
Starting point is 00:44:57 But I also feel like if I were to like make sense at the Caitlin Tasia thing, I definitely think that they filled in at a moment where they need to find somebody quick that they knew was going to be good and quick. They knew that they were going to be temporary too. I think with the Jesse decision, I think they're like, okay,
Starting point is 00:45:17 this guy has lived a life outside the Bachelor community for a while. The Caitlin and Tasha know it was going to be temporary? I think so. Don't you think? No, I don't think so. No, I don't think the two of them knew. They, the two of them, didn't know. But I feel like production didn't think that they would be the permanent host. Yeah. Well, I mean, they're obviously trying to make this Jesse's franchise now. That's, I mean, and I see why you want. Yeah, because he seems like Chris. Yeah. You make a, you, you want a familiar face across the board. I just, in my eyes, and I'm not an expert, it just feels like Paradise is so connected, yet. so distant from the bachelor and bachelor that you could have a separate host and it would be fine if not it's like a separate show to me it's a completely different show there's people that watch paradise that don't even watch the bachelor there's people that watch the bachelor that don't even watch paradise there obviously is a lot of crossover there as well um this was just surprising ben you put it perfectly you just put it perfectly they definitely just want to host for
Starting point is 00:46:18 the entire franchise even though in our eyes we do look at paradise so separately because it has such a different vibe. It's so much more lighthearted. It's definitely a little more sarcastic, tongue and cheek, all of that. I actually, I mean, personally, I think it would be better to have a separate host because it has such a different feel like I do. I just feel like Wells would bring a different vibe and experience and a different humor and lightheartedness, but also a depth.
Starting point is 00:46:54 that would be a good fit. I think this will be a very interesting year, Ashley. We can kind of close unless you have a following thought. Because in my eyes, from what we're reading and seeing, Wells is the bartender. I can't imagine him being the bartender again. So take that. I don't know. Maybe he is willing to be the bartender for the next 10 years.
Starting point is 00:47:22 That could be his thing and he could be happy with that. I don't know. I just have a feeling that he wanted to host. You have a feeling or you have a friendship knowledge. Well, I have both. But my friendship knowledge comes from interviews we've done together because we don't talk about this stuff very often. We don't talk about the show extremely often. But, you know, we do interviews together and somebody asks, are you going to be the host of Paradise?
Starting point is 00:47:45 Or do you want to be the host of Paradise? And he always said, yeah, I want to be the host. Like that. Yeah. He kind of wasn't hiding at this. year. No, you were saying, I want to be the host. I don't know if that's going to happen or not, but I would like to be the host. So if that was, if I'm taking that and going, that was his thought moving into this season and now he's the bartender again, I just don't know probably where his
Starting point is 00:48:07 head's at. I got to check in. Hey, how's your head? Final comment on Paradise and these changes, I think that, I think it's just going to, it might be on Hulu next year. This is my thought. I think that ABC owns Hulu in some capacity or Disney does, and I just feel like it might go over there. Well, it's... And I'd be so cool for there to be, I'd be so down for there to be more bachelor spinoffs on Hulu. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Because then we can do fun things like, we could definitely do winter games, and then we can definitely do the elderly Bachelor show. But this year it is going to be on ABC, correct? Because that's the next headline. It's going to be on ABC for one more year, at least. And then we will see. where the show will go from there.
Starting point is 00:48:52 But Paradise is back. The rumors are squashed. It is being filmed. It's coming back. Jesse Palmer is the host. Will's Adams is the bartender and no cast members have yet to be confirmed
Starting point is 00:49:02 that they are attending. Well, Ashley, another big headline. Not as big as the others if we compared them, but a big headline. Rachel and Gabby's promo is out and the girls go shopping for a husband.
Starting point is 00:49:17 This is Mean Girls Inspired. I watched it. Ashley, I've never seen Mean Girl, so I didn't get the reference. No, I've never seen it. Sorry, I have it. Ben, that's not just me, like, as a 34-year-old woman being like, Ben, it's like a cultural phenomenon. I should watch it. That's what you're saying that you've never seen Forrest Gump.
Starting point is 00:49:40 I just watched Top Gun for the first time last night. Ben, what the f***? Yeah, Jess and I sat down. We'd never seen it. So we watched the first top gun last night because we want to watch the second. Oh my gosh. The second is so good. Jared and I got a special screening last week.
Starting point is 00:49:56 It was really fun. We got the theater to ourselves in the, you know, just the Warwick Theater. We got to invite 30 friends. My mom was home babysitting. And Jared was just lit up. And the movie was awesome. I prefer it to the first one now. I would say that this one, the second one,
Starting point is 00:50:18 won't ever feel dated, whereas the first one feels dated, but in a fun way. Yeah. Oh, look. Oh, Easton's here. He's saying so much better than the first. Wow. I thought the first was good. For a 1986 movie, I watched it, and I was very happy that we spent our evening together
Starting point is 00:50:35 watching it. We both enjoyed it. And so, anyways, the promo that is Mean Girls Inspired. Yes. This is your next job next time you have a night off. Okay. yes the promo so it's the two of them just like on a soundstage getting into a car rachel yells like get in we're going shopping and then gabby gets in and she goes for a husband
Starting point is 00:51:03 because you know classic mean girls line get in we're going shopping um i think they're playing on the fact that you know this could be a mean girl scenario whereas like two girls catfighting at each other's necks fighting over guys but they're also being like no we're going to like get ahead of this and and say that this is not the way it's going to be because we're going to make fun of mean girls does that make sense yeah we're going to get ahead of the mean girl comments by quoting mean girls so then it says something like the pedal the pedal is going to the metal pedals to the metal this season and And that's all we get from them.
Starting point is 00:51:48 It's literally just roses, digital roses flying all over the place and the two of them in a car. It's from everything we read, it's going to be a great season. There's spoilers out now on how the season worked. I don't know. I don't want to know. Do you know? No, no. Not like who was with who.
Starting point is 00:52:10 No, I get it. But like you know how the season works. I didn't want to know. I saw the headlines. I don't. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. We'll find out. We'll find out soon. And I'm sure I'm actually thinking the ABC will release some more footage and teasers on how this work before the first episode so that maybe the people that are very much like, I don't want to watch this because it feels odd that Bacheloretts have to share with each other, which we would agree.
Starting point is 00:52:40 It happens way too often. Might be more convinced to watch because they see the format. At least I think that would be a smart move, because if not, we're just assuming it's going to work similar to every other season. Well, a very sweet headline here, Peter Weber, who was The Bachelor, co-pilots his dad's final plane voyage, the most special flight of my career, according to Peter. This also according to People magazine. So Peter's dad retired in April after being a pilot with United for 37 years. Wow. As of May of last year, Peter became a United pilot, and it seems as if his brother is now in training to become a United pilot, or a pilot in general in hopes to one debut with United as well. His parents met on a United flight when his mom was a flight attendant, so it's a big family to do.
Starting point is 00:53:38 And I believe it was this week that United put out a video of Peter and his dad taking that final flight together. He was his co-pilot, his captain, which is really cute and cool. And Peter got on the, you know, microphone. What would they call it? What do they call that? Like the intercom? Yeah, the intercom. And I was just like, this is a really special flight.
Starting point is 00:54:02 It's my dad's last flight. And, you know, he inspired me to become the pilot that I am today. It's so special. I think that's really sweet. I think it's really cool to see. I can't imagine what that felt like for the two of them. Yeah, that's just a really cool moment. And congratulations to Peter's dad on retirement.
Starting point is 00:54:21 That's a big deal. And for all the flights done and for the people that he's kept safe, and then for Peter as he continues his career, but he gets to experience it alongside of his dad. So congratulations to the Weber family. And best of luck on this next chapter. I'm sure it's going to be fun. and I'm sure he's not done with flying.
Starting point is 00:54:40 I bet there's some small Cessna's in his dad's future that he'll be cruising around in. What's a Cessna? It's like a small plane. Okay, I figured. It's a small plane. Hey, a couple more headlines here for you. A big one.
Starting point is 00:54:54 Matt James says marriage is his relationship end game with girlfriend Rachel Kirkconell. Yeah, he basically said that it would be a way. He sees it as a waste of time. if he was in a relationship with somebody that he wasn't, that wasn't going to end in marriage. Especially after, I mean, what, they've been together for two years now, probably?
Starting point is 00:55:17 A year and a half. Well, there was a little bit of an in-between, in an intermission. But they've been together for over a solid year consecutively. Yeah. Well, that's, it's big news. They're moving forward on it. You would think, you know, in Bachelor Nation,
Starting point is 00:55:35 you don't know how long relationships will go, go for before an engagement is done. But it won't be shocking to me if we have a headline here in the next year that says Matt James and Rachel are engaged. That would not be shocking at all. Well, speaking of engagements, weddings, kids. The bachelor's newlyweds, Jojo and Jordan say having kids is at the forefront. This according to people as well.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Well, so the two of them planned on marrying in the spring of 2020 and then how having a few years of just enjoying married life without kids, but now that they had to take two years in order to get the wedding that they wanted, because they wanted to have all the people that they wanted there, not the location that they wanted. So they waited two years, and now that they had those two extra years have made their relationship stronger than ever, now they're going to, you know, maybe start thinking about trying for those kids this year.
Starting point is 00:56:35 well won't that be something to celebrate aren't kids a special thing I'm gonna tell them right now enjoy why you got it yeah you guys should take some more time you know what I mean like I literally
Starting point is 00:56:53 obsessed in love with Dawson but I think Jojo's 31 and then is he like a year older than her you guys are both so, so busy, just know that you will not be able to continue the lifestyle that you have right now with a kid. Yeah, slows down a bit. Yeah. Well, I think your advice is, uh, is warneded. It comes from a place of wisdom and experience. Hey, final headline, Ashley, one that, uh, I can't even say it's funny.
Starting point is 00:57:24 I think it freaks me out. Uh, I, I just can't imagine, um, what this would be like. And I live in an area could happen. But it's the final headline of today. I saw this. actually on TMZ. Before I even knew it happened on social or whatever, but The Bachelorette star, Sean Booth, freaks out over a wild snake. Now, this isn't the end of the story. It's somewhere in my house, he says, but I don't know where. So he saw it.
Starting point is 00:57:57 He was going to put a, I think he put a blanket over it just so that it would, like, calm down. He did not want to kill the snake. Like, he'd no harm. but just enough that he could, like, calmly take it out of the house or, like, have somebody else come and take it out of the house, like a professional. And then he was like, and then I was trying to get a basket and then, like, a shovel and, like, kind of spider it out, you know, how, like, people do that with a spider with, like, a glass and a piece of paper. So, like, a bigger version of that.
Starting point is 00:58:23 And then he went downstairs with the shovel, ready to make this maneuver. And it was gone. And he hasn't seen it in the house since. he says he checks the house every night before it goes to bed. I think I'd be closing the bedroom door and then like putting a blanket, you know, beneath it so it didn't get through the cracks. But this thing is not like a garden snake or anything like that. This is like a snake to the point where like it may not even be able to crawl underneath
Starting point is 00:58:52 the door. It's a and it kind of like sat up. If you see the video of it, it kind of like sat up like it was about ready to attack. So it kind of looks like it might. It's a snake. I'm looking at this very. right now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:05 You're right. It looks like the heads up, you know? It's like a little cobra-esque. Yeah, it's not a gardener. It looks like maybe like a bull or rattlesnake, but it's small for a bull snake.
Starting point is 00:59:16 Bull snakes are harmless, not poisonous, but they're very, like, aggressive. They actually kill rattlesnakes. Rattlesnakes are obviously very poisonous and very aggressive and not like fun, but it didn't have a rattler on it.
Starting point is 00:59:30 So I don't know what kind of snake it is. I'd be very nervous. I get nervous already here in Colorado where we live. There's a lot of rattlesnakes. And every once in a while, I'll just have like a weird fear where I've got to check underneath the couch or the toilet or something.
Starting point is 00:59:46 But we got to keep update on this. I haven't heard an update. It's been a couple days now that he first saw the snake, but it's in his house or maybe it's left the house. I don't know. I feel like it's left the house now
Starting point is 00:59:58 if he hasn't seen it. Yeah, why would it leave the house, though? It's air condition and comfy. Has Jess ever seen snakes like this around Nashville? Oh, I'm sure. I haven't asked you. She's a runner, so she used to do a lot of trail runs.
Starting point is 01:00:11 I'm sure she's came across a bunch of snakes in her time. But, yeah, I don't know if she's ever seen one in the house. It is wild, though. When I was in high school, our science teacher had a big old snake, like an eight-foot-long snake, and it got out of the cage. In the tank at school? Yeah, at the tank at school. It got out of the tank over the weekend, and he,
Starting point is 01:00:33 came back it was empty and it was actually they found it up in the ceiling tiles you get gone up into the ceiling so we uh think about yeah think about the students if they would have a snake drop on their drop drop on their head that'd be weird snakes don't scare me as much as spiders do okay this being said you know I've never had one crawling around my house slithering around my house yeah but there's something about the imagery of a snake crawling up the wall and into the ceiling, that's scary. Scary. I just don't know of anybody.
Starting point is 01:01:10 I know of people that have snakes as pets. I just don't know of anybody that would be cool with a snake just crawling around their house. Like I don't know that person. Maybe I want to meet them. Maybe there's somebody listening that is that person and they could explain it to us. But either way, a wild snake in the house is just a scary, scary idea to me. So we're wishing Sean the best and his dog.
