Starting point is 00:02:25 Almost Famous Podcast with IHartRadio. Welcome back to the Almost Famous Podcast. Ben and Lauren here today to recap another episode of the ultimate girls trip. Girls trip. This time it's Kyle's iconic white party that we learned all about or I learned all about. This is where all the drama and the reunions are going down. Lauren, I want to start with this. Do you look good in white?
Starting point is 00:02:53 I look terrible. white. What about you? You look great in white. You're wearing white. I guess I was like, well, I don't know. Yeah, I think the people look good and white. Like, you would, like, it's usually when you're like more tan. That's exactly what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:03:09 I was like, you have to be very tan, and I think blondes look very bad in white, and there were a lot of blondes because we were in Beverly Hills. Wasn't the best color for them. This is a big, the things we learned last week, as we got to explain to us. You know, this is a big party and it's been going on
Starting point is 00:03:27 for a few years now. Maricio and Kyle used to do this together. Now, Kyle, this is the first year that she's done it on her own. They've done it at every, like all these crazy locations,
Starting point is 00:03:42 SoFi Stadium. What is Sofi Stadium? What team? It's where the Rams would play. Oh, sorry. Okay. It's the NFL Stadium in L.A. I mean, that's a crazy place to hold a party.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Also a very weird place. All I could do is, is when I watched it, when you're like having your 16th birthday party, you kind of learn some tricks of the trade to throw a party. And you want the smaller locations so it feels busier and more packed. Yes, yes. It's kind of hard to make a football stadium feel packed unless you have, you know, 70,000 friends.
Starting point is 00:04:13 I know. I think Maricio, like half of his invites kind of filled that stadium and Erica Jane filling it. Did you see the performance of Erica Jane years before? Yeah. There's a lot of characters in this one, Lauren, that I'm going to need you to explain to me. I'll try to help you. I would really appreciate it because we had new real housewives, you know, new housewives, I guess, popping up at this party. We had new drama come to formulating. We had flashbacks to arguments and reunions that I am not familiar with.
Starting point is 00:04:49 And so this was like a masterclass, I feel like, of real housewives history and trying to connect the dots. However, the party is being hosted at Kyle's house. She's been doing it since 2004. As I mentioned, it was originally for Mo and her daughter, Alexia's birthday party. But over the years, it's grown as white parties do. This looked like a really fun party. it looked like people were excited to be there. Lauren, I want to start with my first question.
Starting point is 00:05:21 You probably have a little insight into this. This is obviously a party. People outside of the Housewives franchise are attending this party to have a good time. They're not just coming to like see a camera. I don't think a lot of these people care to just see a camera being, you know, filming somebody. When, you know, the contestants of Rhode Island or when Housewives show up to parties and we see them being filmed the whole time and kind of sitting on their own in like the corners of the party or on couches.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Is this enjoyable for them at all or for the guests coming or is it distracting? Well, I remember when they filmed Housewives at Audries, people really wanted to come for the filming because you're going to see this drama firsthand. And you can see a lot of the bystanders when they were, arguing. I think it was Giselle was getting some of the juicy scoop and there was a whole bunch of people
Starting point is 00:06:24 listening in to hear the drama. So I think it's fun for them. It kind of makes it more enticing. I don't think it'd be distracting. But then you could still go off, have a drink, come back and watch entertainment. So there's just a lot of eyes typically on the housewives during these now. It's not just like a big old party. There's an event. There's an entertainment factor. Absolutely. And, you know, it looked like there were like no husbands except for Mo kind of there, right? Did you see any other males at this party?
Starting point is 00:06:52 I didn't see any, like hardly any. I think that's a good take because Mo did show up. It is a big moment following last week's episode to see Mo and Kyle communicating together. I still kind of stand by the fact that it feels like there's stumping there. I've thought the same thing. I was like, just get back together. The way they hug, the way they looked at each other, the way she was trying to make him jealous by alluding... that she was going to get married again, even though it was like an obvious lie. Like it was just fun banter. But like she was hoping to get some kind of jealousy out of that. And they just keep saying, I don't know how it got here. I don't go out here. I'm like, well, then get back together.
Starting point is 00:07:30 I don't know why I want them back together so bad because it looks so sad. And Kyle's never looked better. Like doesn't he want Kyle at her absolute peak right now? Yeah, she is at her peak. And there is something to be said. I'm analyzing in a deep way here. But, you know, they separate. They're not divorced, but they separate.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And then Mo goes off and, you know, he's not young, but he's not old. He's middle-aged. And you see these headlines of like girl after girl after girl. Typically, you know, for any of my friends at my age or younger, that would be a sign of, hey, you're, I guess for lack of a better term, like releasing something. something. You're looking for something that you can't find. And, you know, I think we can all say, oh, it's so cool to just go out there and date and flirt and hook up. At some point in my life, at least, and at some point, I think in most people's life, that stops being as, like, enjoyable.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And you want to find that person that looks at you the way Kyle looks at him. And you're like, maybe what you're searching for is right back to where you were started. Yes. I mean, they were together obviously for 30 years and he has probably had hundreds if not thousands of women slide in his DMs approach him you know trying to do so do some and I guess like in the back of his mind that whole marriage he's like now that I'm very well known I could have literally the hottest 20 something year old which is something that I'm sure a lot of men like dream of so maybe now that he's gone through that like little fantasy he's had in the back of his head he's like well now I'm done with that let me go back to the person I love
Starting point is 00:09:12 I'm obviously putting words in his mouth and I'm obviously speculating. This is all allegedly. But I think that maybe he's had his fun at this point. And I don't even know if that was like the culprit of like their marriage ending. But to me as an outsider, that's probably what it was. Well, yeah. I mean, I think we come to this, you and I both as two people catching up and learning. And as I watch, I don't know much of the background.
Starting point is 00:09:37 I'm not familiar with the, you know, the arguments and the discourse when it all. all happen. But I'm watching it now saying, hey, I feel this way when I see the two of them together. I feel that it's not quite done. Well, we are at Kyle's White Party. Your girl Luanne is getting ready. And she's taking up the spotlight at the beginning of this show, because she has a surprise for everyone. Did you love this moment for her? Did this make you love her more or less? Yes. She's so unselfaware. Is that the problem? proper term for this because she's like, this entrance is going to be amazing. This song is amazing. I am the best performer of all time. And it was most most lackluster thing I've ever
Starting point is 00:10:23 seen in my entire life. And then they show they have the bushes as a backup dancers, which alludes to her falling to the bushes an iconic moment. Where is Ramona right now? We need Ramona in this. But she is hilarious. And like everyone's looking at each other, especially Vicky, which we know she hates Luann, being like, what the hell are we watching right now? Yeah, that's a good segue to talk about Vicky. When we had the episode one of this, Vicky was excited. She was hosting. She was bringing everybody out there.
Starting point is 00:10:58 It was a really fun day. She committed to doing this road trip. It feels like to me, she was excited for the initial day of this road trip. And as the road trip continues, she gets less and less enthused about the idea. of traveling around the country with this group of women, she mentions how busy she is. And Lauren, in my life, I just, everybody's busy. Everybody is.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Everybody has the responsibilities. You just assume that nobody has time to do what they want. You kind of have to carve that out. I think it's always something I appreciate when somebody says, hey, I'm carving out time just to sit, hang out, talk, laugh, whatever. but Vicki seems like she is very committed to what her job is. I tried to find it online. I don't know if I know what her, like what is taking up her time.
Starting point is 00:11:51 I noticed she sells life insurance. And we saw that from the first episode when she was trying to get the, all the ladies to sign up for life insurance. But honestly, as a new parent, I think anyone whose kids have left the house or you don't have any kids, you got time. You got time. So, Vicki, you should have time to let loose and enjoy this. I know it must be hard because it is overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Maybe she's become more of an introvert since, you know, over the years. And she's constantly with these women. And she mentioned it feels like 100 days and it's only been three days. So she's going to lose her shit a couple more times. It's, uh, it isn't easy for introverts. I am one and it does drain on you but you committed to it and you kind of carve out and say hey for two weeks I'm out of touch I'm out of can't I won't be responding to emails I won't be making the phone calls the texts will have to wait those kind of things and but you know Vicki's career has as I look it up it's Cotto insurance seems like it's going well does seem like she is you know busy in her own receipts. respectful way, but the ladies don't appreciate this. In fact, Luanne does bring it up to her.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Everybody else, I think, kind of in the preview, calls her a wet blanket. Yeah. It's not a great look. No. For her. I think maybe she's really focusing on this insurance company because she doesn't want to rely on housewives anymore. Maybe she's like, this is going to be my job so I don't have to deal with these
Starting point is 00:13:31 ladies anymore. So she's like, I'm not going to go on this girl's trip and lose out on clients because I'm here. That's my take on it. She seems like very over it. But being called a wet blanket is like the biggest diss alive. Yeah, that would suck. Like, hey, every time you walk into the room, it just gets a little worse.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I know. It's like no one wants you here. So depressing. It's so sad. Hey, I do want to give a shout out before we talk about the Salt Lake City drama, kind of learning about that. I've been around her a few times now because of this I-heart family. and the I heart connections. Teddy Melanchamp makes an appearance.
Starting point is 00:14:11 If you've been following Teddy's story, it was spectacular for me to see her show up, speaking about somebody who's busy or tired or probably one of the last things she feels like doing. Maybe she wants to do it, but feels like doing because of her battle with cancer is showing up to a party like this. but always great to see Teddy. And obviously Teddy and Kyle are best friends. And so it makes sense. But just somebody we need to give a shout out to because she has a lot happening in her life. That is very real and very hard.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Yeah, absolutely. I was shocked to see her there, but very happy to see her there too. Looking beautiful too. Yeah. The Salt Lake City drama, I'm going to say I'm not. the best at right now, but I do, I'm kind of getting the hang of it. Well, let's bring Heather in to explain to us all of the characters that are involved in this Salt Lake City drama.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I can visualize them. Like I can see through the episode like, oh, that girl doesn't like that girl, but the names are not great. Yeah. So we had in this episode, we had Meredith Marks show up. She is one of the original Salt Lake City Housewives, as well as, Whitney and she's an original and Bronwyn who is a newcomer kind of to the show. She's only been on for like I think the last two seasons. And so in a nutshell, Bronwyn and Whitney are not getting
Starting point is 00:15:50 along with Lisa and Meredith. And Lisa and Meredith have been friends for years and years and years. But the gist of it is that Bronwyn and Whitney think that Lisa is a liar. They hear a lot of stuff supposedly about Lisa around town and the links that she's willing to go to to close a deal for her, you know, Vita tequila brand. And they call her out on it. And Lisa on the other side, you know, denies all these accusations and opens up to Portia in this episode, basically, you know, talking about the horrible things and lies that have been spread around her. and her marriage around town. Which one of these girls is the famous injector? Oh, that's Heather Gay and she's not in till the next episode.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Okay. Underset. Different, different. Okay. But also, same cast, but she's just not on this episode. Okay. That's the only person I'm kind of familiar with. Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:46 And Giselle here is getting all the information. And Giselle seems like the biggest shister I've ever seen. She's a producer's dream. She will ask any question. and go behind anyone's back to ask a certain question and then ask it to the other person's face. Giselle is getting all this information
Starting point is 00:17:05 and the weirdest thing, and I don't believe any of these accusations against Lisa. Like, she sleeps around, she uses sex to get jazz tickets or a whole bunch of other things and make sales for her tequila brand. So I don't think Lisa would actually do that. I don't think she would do that.
Starting point is 00:17:25 I don't think any... So we've learned that with like Rhode Island, where a lot of these rumors that get started, they're spread and they're not true. Now, there might be a little bit of truth in them. Like, hey, she went out of her way to get a deal done. But then all of a sudden, the rumors start, the game of telephone starts getting played at the end of it. Now, I also don't know if they're true or not. But we can see how on the Housewives show, how things kind of volcano up.
Starting point is 00:17:51 And then all of a sudden you're like, oh, what is being told to the public is actually very far from the truth. Yes. I can see in like the heat of the moment. So I'm like, you sleep with men for jazz tickets. And then that being like, whoop snowball effect, exactly like what you said. So I understand why she'd be mad. And then Lisa, there's a clip to Lisa in the, in her Salt Lake City episode being like, you've crossed the line, you involve my husband. And that's where it was like, nah, not friends anymore. Can't even come back from that. And I understand trying to protect your marriage in like such a hostile environment over there. So I see why they're in separate camps at this party.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Would we say that the Salt Lake City housewives and the Rhode Island housewives are the most similar in terms of like how they navigate life with each other? Say that they're not similar, but they're equal and popularity. Their seasons, but not
Starting point is 00:18:45 similar shows at all, in my opinion. Very interesting. Are a lot of the Salt Lake City people married still? So, Heather's not. married. Whitney's going through a divorce this next season. Angie K is going through a divorce this next season. Oh my God. Goodness, housewives, slow down. Yeah. Bronwyn went through a divorce in between seasons. So we'll play out this next one. So yeah, Lisa is married. Meredith's married, but both of their marriages
Starting point is 00:19:15 have come under fire on the show. And then Mary Cosby is married, but that's a whole other thing, because, you know, she's married to her step-grandpa. Oh, right. Ben's face. Please someone clip that. Her biological grandma married this guy and then the grandma died or something and then she married the grandpa Ben. Lauren, you need to get into this show. You know, trust me, enough to watch her. Nuts. Nuts. So yeah. I don't want to hear. I'd prefer I've never heard that. It's the crazyest thing I've ever heard. Yes, nuts. What season
Starting point is 00:19:56 are they on of Salt Lake City currently? I think this is going to be season six that will be coming out. We got to make sure Ashley leaves Housewives before season six. It sounds like everything goes to shit about then. That's so messed up. I know. I know, but it's tea. It's tea.
Starting point is 00:20:14 He's also the pastor of her church. Like, it's a whole thing. Who's the pastor of what church? Marianne Cosby's the pastor of her church. And that was like a part of it. Like when her grandmother died, she took over the church. Is she still an active member of housewives? Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:29 Okay. And sadly, her son just passed away while they were filming. Oh, I remember this. Yes. So there's going to be a lot going on in this next season. Terrible. On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
Starting point is 00:23:08 I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibilities. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
Starting point is 00:23:50 So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network. Our show is extremely accessible
Starting point is 00:24:10 to first-time listeners. Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka The Biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show.
Starting point is 00:24:23 We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman. Not that great. Actually, can you help me, can you help me shape this. How about we flip it on his head? How about we flip this script? What is the surprise woman who actually you think is the straight man is actually the one who's
Starting point is 00:24:40 acting weird? Adam Scott, this entire time you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show. I would never expect. I have. I would never set expectations for something like that to happen. If the universe allows for something like that to have. happen? I'm open to it. I'm always going to accept. You know, Danny McBride, fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway,
Starting point is 00:25:10 to be honest with you. I was like, is that weed? Nope. It's fragile masculinity. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? Like, you're like, oh, what's just a state. Everyone's so dumb. And fake. Right. and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life. I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show
Starting point is 00:25:42 and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The White Party continues through the evening. We do get to see Luann's performance that Lauren eloquently said was just not as big of a deal is I think she thought it could be in her head. But I love, I do appreciate anybody that is willing to kind of have, uh, the first character syndrome. We're like, they're like, this is going to be great because I'm going to be the one doing it.
Starting point is 00:26:21 When you have a lot of big personalities in the room, that would be fine, you know, zip lining through a party. They would probably think that was cool and that, you know, everybody would like it. And I like that she thought out of every, out of any event, that I could be at. This is the one where I'm going to make this entrance. And it's not even her party. So there is a level of me where it's like,
Starting point is 00:26:44 I see what you were saying before. I want to know more about Luanne because I think I would enjoy watching Luanne because she's an intelligent person. She can like converse with others it feels like in a way that doesn't feel super off. However, she's probably making decisions that make you go, you have a very high view of yourself. Yes, she loves herself. But I do love the way she talks to people.
Starting point is 00:27:10 I think she talks to Vicky very well. We see her and Vicky have a moment here where Vicky's like, I feel like you don't like me. And then Luanne doesn't lie or anything. She's like, I just feel like you don't want to be here. And she's like speaking for everyone. And Luan just will say what's on her mind, but she won't be like super, super aggressive about it.
Starting point is 00:27:32 She'll just like calmly say. She's like, you just don't want to be here. And then Vicki's like, well, you called me Porky Pig. And that was the funniest moment of the entire episode for me. She's like, that was a different pig. It's like, oh, I'm sorry that you're still a pig and I got the pig wrong. Vicky is so funny when she flips out about that. And then Lou Anne realizes her mistake and they kind of make up.
Starting point is 00:27:50 They're like, okay, you don't give unsolicited advice. And I don't remember the other end of the deal. But like, they're amazing. They're great together. The pig conversation is like what when I think of the housewives and those moments like that are the ones that make me laugh so much because you can see how it happens. Yeah. And it is an argument about a pig, you know, a fictional pig. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:22 And they're upset. Like you said, she still related her to a pig. Yeah. I don't think any of us are like, hey, in my life, I would. love to be compared to a pig. 100%. It's a porky pig or Miss Piggy. And I'm like, arguably, Miss Piggy's kind of fatter. So I would make it.
Starting point is 00:28:39 You know, so either way, terrible comparison, but also hilarious for us to watch and Luan also thought it was funny. But Luan doesn't only have a fight with Vicky. She also has a fight with Erica Jane. And they go into the, um, how this came to be. And basically Erica and Luan were friends, but then Erica ghosted her and therefore on stage asked who the like the bitch. she his housewife was or the meanest or something. And she was like, it's Erica. So they are not
Starting point is 00:29:06 friends. They have to see each other at this party. And I think that they, Erica made a lot of sense. She was like, look, I was going through the hardest time of my life. The most public divorce we've seen in a long time, blah, blah, blah, all these things. And she's like, that's why I wasn't messaging you. I was literally the thick of it, the thickest of my life. And so now Luanne kind of like understands. And hopefully they can be friends again because they are two birds of a feather. Erica Jane got divorced to who? The huge lawyer. Tom Girardi.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Tom Gerardi. He was the lawyer that is like the character in the movie Aaron Glockovich. You ever see that movie, Ben? Yeah. And didn't Tom Girardi get in trouble or something? Yeah. So that's what she's talking about when she's talking about the public mess of the divorce is the fact that when she was going through her divorce,
Starting point is 00:30:00 her husband was also being sued for taking burn victim and flight victims money and putting it into his lifestyle and allegedly his wife's lifestyle. Now he's in prison, right? Yes. How old is he like 105? He's very old and he has like some sort of dementia because he like does not remember her or anything. Oh, goodness. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:31 The Housewives show just feels like an emotional roller coaster for me. All of a sudden, I'm hearing about somebody marrying their grandpa, and then I hear about them losing a child. I'm like, that's weird. And I'm like, oh, goodness, I feel for her. And then same way here. It's like, this guy obviously was not doing great things. But then all of a sudden you're like, he has dementia and doesn't remember her. And I'm like, good.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Like, it's just always an emotional roller coaster for me here. I don't even know how to handle it. It's hard to, I guess it's a good lesson in life. It's hard for me to make strong judgments because on the back end of those judgments I'm being, you know, sympathized with. Hey, Lauren, I want to bring up an opinion I have. And maybe I'm. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:14 I'm oftentimes wrong. But I watched this conversation happen where Denise Richards is involved. And they're talking about divorces. And it felt very awkward for me. where especially when it came to talking about Denise, I think it was Erica Jane or somebody that had blonde hair was kind of bringing up the topic of divorce and public divorce and how the divorce has happened.
Starting point is 00:31:42 And it kind of felt like Denise Richards, like caught one of the bullets here, like a stray bullet. Like everybody was talking about it. She was kind of sitting there. And then all of a sudden, like, eyes going her. And they're like, you know what it's like, right? And it felt to me like Denise did not want to be talking about this publicly. obviously she's talking about the Charlie Sheen, you know, divorce.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Yeah. Did you feel that way or am I off here? I think that probably, I mean, because everyone knew Charlie Sheen. Everyone followed that heavily. And so, yeah, I think everyone's going to look towards her because it was a crazy situation I've ever seen. I think she kind of is more of an open book than you think because when she was on the housewives, she was talking about like her marriage.
Starting point is 00:32:28 her second marriage. And I think she's kind of open to talking about. I don't think it was like a deer in headlight situation. Also, she's done some interesting things with only fans too after this and her daughter being on only fans. So I think like she kind of welcomes all the drama. Denise Richards?
Starting point is 00:32:48 Yes, sir. I think this could be allegedly, I didn't see the videos, but I think her and her daughter did a video together for only fans. So I don't think that talking about her divorce is really anything new for her. Is it best for me just to keep thoughts to myself from here on now? I really have so many things that I'm trying to process.
Starting point is 00:33:19 No, don't keep your thoughts to yourself. We've got to hear it all. I mean, can somebody here argue with me if my first thought there is like how, why that's, doesn't feel right. And would anybody here push back on me and be like, no, this is why, this is how it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:33:36 It's totally normal. No. Okay. No, I think it's just absolutely bizarre. I mean, I think she was trying to help her daughter maybe get some more viewers. And now she's like so proud of her.
Starting point is 00:33:47 She's like, I wish I did this when I was younger because you can make so much money without relying on a man. And I guess in Denise's mind, she's like, she was an actress before, though. So she didn't really need the help of a man.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Huge. huge. The hottest girl of all time. So she was like, get your money so you don't have to rely on a man and go through two messy divorces like I did. So I think that was her thought process with the only fans and her daughter. Still,

Starting point is 00:34:34 Everything. When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months. I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files. I just remember this low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the
Starting point is 00:35:30 iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If your bookshelf and your For You page are equally important to your personality, welcome home. This is Prose Society, the weekly podcast that's part book club, part group chat for thought daughters, pop culture obsessives, and anyone who thinks Pride and Prejudice and Love Island deserve the same level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo, and every week we're connecting the dots between books, the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop happening.
Starting point is 00:36:00 I'm going to have to look up this story. I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed. From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages inside compelling characters, then that is a Trojan horse. Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations,
Starting point is 00:36:22 or a community of readers who love to think a little too much, you're in the right place. Listen to pro society on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. See you between the pages. On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B.
Starting point is 00:36:48 I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading. the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is, and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version
Starting point is 00:37:21 of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio. app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network. Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great. Actually, can you help? Can you help me shape this? How about we flip it on his head?
Starting point is 00:38:05 Right? How about we flip this script? Okay. What is the surprise woman? Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird. Adam Scott. This entire time, you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show. I would never expect.
Starting point is 00:38:25 I have. I would never set expectations for something like that to happen. It seems like you did. If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it. I'm always going to accept. You know, Danny McBride, fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I was like, is that weed? Nope, it's fragile masculinity. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? They're like, oh, what's a state. Everyone's so dumb except for you. And fake. Right, fake and also not interested
Starting point is 00:39:04 or just like, oh, I've got my life, I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We end the episode with the previews and the car ride back. pretty much the car at back feels like everybody pretty much admitting that hey vicky like get off your phone get into the world we're at uh this is a few days to enjoy and to laugh and to fight
Starting point is 00:39:48 and to heal and all these things and it doesn't feel like vicky is wanting to be there mostly because she does get invited to have a drink in the hotel room and i i don't really blame vicky for this. I remember, I mean, even today as I'm filming the show I do, after a big day and some, and there's always the personalities, great for them that are like, hey, let's go have a drink in the hotel room after like, like to wind down tonight. And I'm like, well, that doesn't wind me down. What wine would wind me down is grabbing like my book, sitting in my bed, not talking to anybody. Yes. And taking a deep breath. So I don't blame Vicky for this. It just. I think the interesting point to this is,
Starting point is 00:40:34 Vicky was and is such a big character on the franchise. And she did it while having this kind of personality of not wanting to associate all the time in social situations. And so as much as it is kind of driving me crazy how much she's on her phone, I think that's just rude in general. There is almost, I'm impressed with her ability to come out of her comfort and do the show for as long as she's done it? Her is kind of snapping at Luann when she's like,
Starting point is 00:41:07 I just need, or the whole car, really, she's like, I just need silence. You guys are stressing me out was what all us introverts say in our head when we want to get the hell back to our room. But she actually said it. And I was like, that is all that I'm thinking when it gets beyond like 9 p.m. and someone is still talking to me.
Starting point is 00:41:26 So, yeah, I think she's, I think it's honestly making great, very relatable television. her being overstimulated, but asking a question to Luann, Luan is actively answering it and then she picks up her phone. Basically, like, I will talk to anyone else who is not in this car to get my brain out of here. I think it was definitely rude. And, like, as an adult, you should be able just to finish the question and then call whoever
Starting point is 00:41:51 the hell that was back. It seemed like she didn't even know who was calling was a unknown number and she just wanted to get out of that conversation. Yeah, it's totally, I think in today's world with the cell phone and the actually, access to phones. It's totally okay for you to tell me, hey, I am going to go back to my hotel room tonight. I'm tired. This has been a big day for me. I still don't see it ever being appropriate to be in the midst of a conversation and to jump on your phone just to see the random person texting you or calling you. I at least want to know that you're present in the moment. Especially with the people that you're not that close with. You're like, maybe if you're close,
Starting point is 00:42:29 I'm like, oh, let me just, you know, oh, yeah, yeah, but like you're actively getting to know these people. And it's very rude. Preview for next week. Their ladies are going to Atlanta. Yeah. I used to work in Atlanta quite a bit. Atlanta always comes out with great stories. There's incredible people in Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:42:49 They have an amazing nightlife and a lot of big characters in Atlanta. You know, Atlanta's interesting because there's a ton of. of money in Atlanta. And it's a place where if you're out and about, you can run into just about anybody. And so I'm excited to watch what they have in store for Atlanta. When they said we have big plans in Atlanta, I'm assuming when they say that, they do. And they also have Kim Zolziak making an appearance. Yeah, explain her to me.
Starting point is 00:43:26 I mean, she was an OG Atlanta. wife. And she's just made big waves like in the news. Like I feel like everyone knows her. Of course. Of course there was bankruptcy, divorce. Her daughter's being very well known now because they grew up on TV. And I just I just know her from like other reality shows.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Like was she on traitors or something like traitors? She's been on every single other reality show there's ever been. She was on Hulu's got to get out. she and she and Croix had their own spin-off that's what you know her from probably on Bravo that's exactly what it was yes love her
Starting point is 00:44:08 and then we finally get to see Kyle talking to Ashley Darby about her alleged relationship with Maricio and then Lisa is annoyed that other Salt Lake City people are in attendance in this Atlanta stop so there's a lot
Starting point is 00:44:26 I'm so excited to see Kyle and Ashley talk, though. Atlanta is next week, and we'll be here breaking it down. So far, the reunion has been a masterclass for me at learning about the housewives and the connections between the two. It still feels to me, a little bit of personal information, it still feels like this is a disconnect from Rhode Island because Rhode Island is so new. we haven't seen any of the Rhode Island characters come into the reunion yet and so it's hard for me in my mind to make sense that these are the same franchise
Starting point is 00:45:06 I'm hoping at some point we get to see Rhode Island cross in that stop at New Jersey we'll just tie everything in well let's hope for it that'd be awesome hey another great week Lauren thank you for all the work that you do planning and prepping
Starting point is 00:45:23 for this incredible show. We will be breaking down another week of the Real Housewives' Ultimate Girls' Trip. We'll be walking into episode four.
