This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with Iheart Radio.
As we promised, the offseason of the Almost Famous Podcast, yes, it will be short, but it's
going to be fantastic. Ashley, we have somebody that we promised we bring in to talk about this
very extravagant, very beautiful, very lovely wedding between Hannah and Dylan.
and also to catch up on their life
because it's been a bit since Heather has stepped
or stepped into this podcast.
And you know what I forgot all about with Heather?
That she was on Matt James season.
Like I totally forgot when I saw her at this wedding,
Courtney Bagby's wedding this weekend.
I was like, I totally forgot about you pulling up
in the minivan at Matt James season.
Oh, because she was on Clayton's season also.
No, no, no.
She was on Colton's.
It was Colton.
Colton's season.
For she's from.
Yeah.
And then she came back for Matt James.
Yeah.
She's like, well, guess what?
I'm so glad that you forget that part of me.
I don't blame her.
Let's bring her in.
Let's talk to her about it.
Here's Heather Martin.
Heather, you have gone to three weddings in less than three weeks and you just got home.
You went to three weddings and then arrived home.
So tell everybody how crazy your past few weeks have been mostly including your trip to France for Hannah
and Dylan's one.
Oh, my gosh.
Yes.
I mean, yeah, three weddings in two weeks.
I round trip to Tahoe, which is great.
Went to Italy with the fam.
And then, yeah, Paris for Hannah's wedding, which was, I can't even describe it.
People have been asking me, like, how to describe the wedding.
This is why you're here.
You better figure out how to describe it.
I can give you the detail by detail.
But it was unlike anything I have ever, I've ever experienced.
Truly.
It's okay.
So you went to Italy with your family, right?
I love my mom and sister, yes.
That wasn't for a wedding.
No, we made an excuse to go since we're going to get to Paris.
You're going to be there anyway.
Yeah.
Let's make a trip out of it.
Yeah.
And then you ended in Paris.
We have seen the pictures, Heather.
We have a lot to catch up with you about two.
Ashley just reminded me that you were on Matt James's season.
Totally forgot that.
We can forget that.
Yeah.
I'm going to dig into that a little bit because now that's fresh of my mind.
but one of the reasons that you're here is because you are a good friend to Dylan and Hannah
their wedding looked it looked so nice that it's hard to believe is that does that make
sense like it the pictures make me go what what's going on here like what happened that like
this wedding was pulled off the way it was like I don't get it it's not it's not computing in
my mind and so I need your help in explaining to me and the audience like what was going like
what was happening? This looked like a wedding I would watch on national television for like a
prince and princess. It was like the royal wedding. We kept saying that. And I like in the pictures
don't even capture. I'm like, oh, that doesn't even look like it. Like it just couldn't even
capture it. But yeah, guys, it was insane. So basically it was in, we were in Paris at the hotel,
like the whole party pretty much stay at the same hotel. And we get bused to like an hour
hour away from the city like out in the middle of nowhere we're like arriving you're all in these
little like Mercedes buses like what's it going to be like and we show up and we walk out in this
long driveway up to this like beautiful chateau and we're walking on cobblestone and all of a sudden
like a string quartet starts playing and like it's so quiet and everyone and then people can come out
and like giving us champagne and apparel sprits and we're sitting down like it just feels like you're
transported to like a different time completely different time yes like I was
like is this like where are we it was just and everything was just so beautiful and
the ceremony was so intimate and Hannah looked like as she always looks but just like
simply and elegant and just stunning and yeah and then we had cocktail hour I don't know if you
guys want detail by detail but yeah so the theme her look was supposed to be 90s supermodel
inspired and that whole like um that whole vibe which if you were to watch commercials from the 90s
was kind of their their theme for the whole wedding yes and it was kind of very just so like every
little is it the elegance but like simple elegance it was like it's so hard to describe everything
was just like it seems simple but it was the most extravagant thing ever so just her just the way
she looked it was like her dress was the most stunning dress ever but it was just plain no
frills nothing her hair was just back like perfectly to half a half down in a long veil
even the music was just like yeah it was just it was the you felt the 90s theme kind of parent
trap theme too i think that's what she was kind of go to which is great their first dance song was
the the love but the love song parent trap so cute so i mean i i got a let's start then from the
beginning for those that don't know including myself why paris i think paris
I think they wanted to do something special,
but I think Paris was something that for Dylan and Hannah,
they just had like a special place in their heart.
And they're like,
they didn't know where they,
I think they toured a bunch of different venues,
like here and they're both in San Diego now too.
And I think they just like fell in love with Paris and the spot.
And they're like,
let's just freaking do it.
And they brought everything to Paris.
Like they're hair people,
they're makeup people like everyone.
We had the same flower people.
Yeah.
And the flowers were unreal.
I was like, oh my gosh.
They sent all.
They sent them.
there everything everything to paris can it be cheap right actually i think a lot of us out there
are speculating just be like okay so what was trade what came as influencer trade and what was
paid for by the you know them and the family yeah i didn't even know how much did that come and what
the translation the money you know was it cheaper to do in paris or was it more expensive to do in
Paris and yeah and it was a Wednesday so like maybe it was a Wednesday but also at the same time I'm
like I don't even think they were thinking about that and it doesn't matter of being a Wednesday because
people have to travel that far anyway exactly so it didn't matter but yeah yeah I don't even I couldn't even
begin to imagine um what it costs but I don't even know if that was a yeah it was just I was like
this will be something I will never I've never experienced before and I'll never experience again like
it's just it was one of those things isn't it weird uh I don't know
if you felt this way. I feel like this wedding would have made me feel like this more than ever.
But you get invited to a wedding. And you're obviously good friends or your family members with
the people getting married. You know them well. You're a part of their top 400 or 500 or 100 or
whatever it is. And then you get to these weddings, especially ones like this. And they feel
like untouchable in a sense, like celebrities. Does that ever happen to you? Like you're almost like
nervous to be around them at these weddings because they're such in the spotlight and they look
so beautiful. And it's their night too. And so you want to respect that. But that always happens
to me at weddings where the bride and the groom feel like celebrities to me. They feel
untouchable in that moment. Totally. And I feel like even at this wedding, even more, because people
were like, you know, it was like talked about and they kind of are posse celebrities. So I was like,
I don't deserve to be here. Why am I here? You're like, impossible.
Now, there was only about 150 people, right?
Yeah, I'm really bad at numbers, but it was not big at all.
I mean, in comparison to what it could be.
It felt intimate, too.
It felt very intimate.
But yeah, I had that feeling been for sure.
It was like, what is happening?
How I shouldn't be here.
These people are too cool for me.
Yeah, that's, I mean, but you did show up, so you showed up to Paris.
You said that you stayed in the hotel with a few other bachelor alum and some friends and
and people that you probably knew.
Did you have any expectation of the beauty that this wedding was going to be
or the extravagance of this wedding?
Or were you shocked throughout the process?
I think I knew it was going to be beautiful.
And I had seen like little bits and pieces of like, you know,
some details and stuff like that.
But I could not even begin to imagine.
I don't even think pictures or videos could even begin to explain.
I think it was like a feeling that you felt that they like so curated so perfectly that
I couldn't even begin to like picture it or like even imagine what it was going to be.
So no, I did not think it was going to be as magical or extravagant as it was.
And I think the venue had a lot to do with that because it was just like, yeah, you're transported
back in time and the backside of the venue was even better than the front.
And it was just like it was something else.
Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers, the pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help
of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this, do this, pull that, turn this.
It's just, I can do my ice close.
I'm Mani.
I'm Noah.
This is Devin.
And on our new show, No Such Thing, we get to the bottom of questions like these.

Hi, I'm Janica Lopez, and in the new season of the Overcover podcast, I'm taking you on an
exciting journey of self-reflection. Am I ready to enter this new part of my life? Like,
am I ready to be in a relationship? Am I ready to have kids and to really just devote myself and my time?
I wanted to be successful on my own, not just because of who my mom is. Like, I felt like I needed to
be better or work twice as hard as she did.
Join me for conversations about healing and growth.
Life is freaking hard.
And growth doesn't happen in comfort.
It happened in motion, even when you're hurting.
All from one of my favorite spaces, the kitchen.
Honestly, these are going to come out so freaking amazing.
Be a part of my new chapter and listen to the new season of the Overcomfit podcast
as part of the MyCultura podcast network on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
What were the vows like?
They were so sweet and so personal.
Do you remember anything specifically from them?
I think, I honestly, I don't know what's specific.
Let me try to think.
I think Dylan was, I had never seen,
I like don't picture Dylan as emotional.
I just, I didn't even think,
like, I don't know, they're kind of like silly
and like really sweet with each other but I don't really I don't think if I personally ever see them
super like I don't know emotionally vulnerable okay um towards each other at least you know not in like
that public way and it was so sweet to see like Dylan so emotional and crying like crying when
he saw her walk down the aisle and his vows were just like really sweet still had like the Dylan like
funny jokes in there but so so sweet and like um yeah intimate and just like
like really like vulnerable in um tender which i thought was really really cute and hannas were the
same they both they both were just like i was really glad they did like their own vows because i wasn't
sure i was like maybe it'll just be like more formal to make it more perfect like you know just do
the vows of what they like repeat after the pastor or whatever but it was it was yeah very sweet
very emotional and i don't know it just felt it didn't feel like a tv type situation at all you
know it felt like they just met each other and they're in love they're in love yeah they're in love
So, you know, obviously, we've been around Dylan a few times.
I've never known him to be emotional either.
They're always funny and goofy and just ready to have a good time wherever they're at.
You know, I do know many of the guys that are part of Bachelor Nation.
Like, I've never heard anybody dislike Dylan.
But I'm very unfamiliar.
And so can you remind us if any of the guys from the show were invited and at this wedding?
Okay. So who was all there? I guess maybe just from Bachelor Nation. Because I do know a lot of them that would consider themselves friends with Dylan. I just don't know how many of them are that close of friends. Yeah. So for the guys, it was only Jed and Mike were there. Those are the only two guys. Mike Johnson? Mike Johnson, yes. Oh, I didn't see pictures of him. Yes. I guess I didn't see pictures of Jed either. I just saw pictures of the girls.
The girls were the only ones who took actual photos.
posted them.
But yeah, so on the guy's side, it was just Jed and Mike.
That's interesting.
Because those are two people that did not come to mind when I think of people that I know to be friends with Dylan.
Yeah, I honestly didn't know who to expect coming from Dylan's.
I thought maybe Mike, but yeah, I didn't know.
And so, yeah, it was just those too.
Some fans are speculating that it's weird that Tyler Cameron wasn't there.
I wasn't sure.
I was wondering if Tyler Cameron was, I think maybe Tyler was invited and he couldn't come.
But, yeah, I was surprised by that, too.
Why, are they, is Dylan and Tyler friends?
Do I don't know this?
Yeah, I think that Tyler, they were on the same season.
So I think they're, yeah, from what I know.
But I'm not too familiar either.
The, well, the girls obviously did take the pictures.
Many of these women that were there are in relationships.
Some of you are not, at least publicly yet.
one of the things about a wedding, especially one that's romantic and extravagant, is it brings love
to life. And there's usually amazing stories at weddings of people finding love, maybe, at it.
Is there any love stories that you would like to share or maybe about you personally that came from
this wedding?
There is none. There wasn't many single people at this wedding, I have to say.
That's no fun.
At least that I met.
I know.
So, no.
I mean, how amazing would that have been, meeting someone in Paris at a wedding?
I would love to say that was my story.
But sadly, it seems like a movie.
It does.
It would be great.
I would love to have been that one up.
Well, I have to ask about food because I'm a foodie.
I hate calling myself a foodie.
That's so stupid.
But I do think about the food when I go to a wedding.
I'm like, that's all I really care about beyond the vows.
It's like vows.
Now it's food time.
okay so what did you guys have as entrees or appetizers cocktail hour tell us everything was the signature drinks
i was so excited about that okay first of all was really cool was an ice sculpture that had had like a little
thing and espresso martini coming out of it which was just to me wait espresso martini was coming out
of the glass like a little from the top like they could like it like came down through the bottom
and it was just awesome with their initials on it i was like oh my gosh so perfect um so that was amazing
for drinks.
And then the best French onion soup I've ever had in my life was the appetizer.
We were all going crazy.
I was like, oh, my gosh, this is the best French Indian soup ever.
Truly, I'm like, it's just not going to live up to that again.
And then at the dinner, I know, I love, I love the food, too.
The dinner, I had a really good truffle nochi.
And I also split some of my sisters, like, steak, beef, whatever it was.
So good.
And then I didn't have dessert.
I should have had dessert.
It was on the table after, but everyone was dancing,
and I was really bummed about that.
The wedding, obviously, we know Dylan and Hannah,
they do like to party.
One of the things at weddings as well,
I just really want to know the juicy stuff to this wedding.
So far, it sounds like romance was not in the air.
So I'm assuming then you drink your pains away.
An hour-long shuttle ride,
between a venue and a hotel can be one of two things.
It can be awful because after a wedding and everybody is then on a bus,
stuck on a bus for an hour going up and down the hills of France.
Or it can be incredible with sing-alongs and all the extra stuff that goes on.
How was the van home?
From your giggle and your smile,
I'm assuming there's
there's some good memories of the van home.
Do you know something I don't, Ben?
I don't know, I know if you're lying or not.
And so I just like to know how the van home was.
That's so interesting that you ask.
The van home was a wild ride.
I don't know how much to describe,
but it was, I think, yeah, everyone had been,
it was till one in the morning,
so everyone had been drinking all night my sister doesn't drink and i really i think i was just
distracted i wasn't really drinking um that much but it was i think most people were drinking a ton and it
was it was a wild ride that's all i don't know how much detail to go into but people were um
there was lots of situations going on the ride home what tell us situations yeah you know just
like did it feel like a high school uh like feel
trip us? A little bit, yeah. I don't know what kind of high school field trips. You went on
Ashley, but from what I understand, this was not a high school field trip. I don't know what you're
saying. I know, yes. Like, did somebody make out? And it was just like, oh my God, they're making
out. No, no, no, no. It was more just like a, I don't know, like, people were getting, um,
there were little tips, maybe people were, you know, it was just like, it was just everyone was on a
different level on the ride home. And it was fine by the end, but it was an interesting ride. I
I asked this because I know with Jessica and I's wedding, we had a shuttle that was about a 40-minute shuttle back to downtown Nashville. And one of my best friends tells me that is one of the most fun 45 minutes he's ever had. One you had, yes, you had little arguments going on because people are, you know, tired and they've had a long night. You also have... And they've had a lot of drink. You have romance going on. And then you have the singing typically and the karaoke and the dancing. And this bus or this shuttle just feel.
like a mix of chaos and beauty and memories.
And so I'm curious just when you sit in that environment.
And yes, you probably do remember it because it's you, Heather.
Like, did it, did it just feel like a beautiful ending to a beautiful wedding?
Oh my gosh.
It was.
How happened on this?
Bus.
It was.
No, it was a beautiful ending.
It was, I think everyone was just on a.
different level. That's all I, like, it was just, yeah, ever, it, it was just wild. How many people
were on this? Because you said they're a little Mercedes one. So they did a little shuttle,
like the shuttles, Mercedes, it was big. It was like a full on, it was like a school bus size.
Oh, okay, never mind. So it was all, all bachelor nation was in one bus. So there's three buses.
So no. Oh, so no. No, I wasn't even on the same buses. I think the girls, I was with the girl,
Demi and Kathy
and then
some people
a lot of people
I didn't know
there was like
so there's three different
sections of buses
but I don't know
I just sat back
I think the bus ride
for me
I sat back
and I watched
it felt like I was watching
a show
yeah
it was great

Hello, Ed.
I'm from a very rural background myself.
My dad is a farmer.
And my mom is a cousin.
What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago.
I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear.
The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family.
And then he came to my house.
So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage.

Ben, you had to have known there was something about the buzz.
No, I just know buses bring out the best of people. Heather, to kind of continue on here,
would you rank this as a top five most beautiful wedding that you've been to, considering you've been
to three? She's already, it's 100% every one. It's the best, most beautiful wedding I will ever be to,
like, truly. I just, yeah, I don't think anyone will do it like it. I know that I'll never have a
wedding like that. And it's totally, I've accepted that. There's no, you know, it's just one of those things.
was yeah you had your shot to have that kind of wedding you didn't meet your prince charming in
france and so it brings us then into your personal life a little bit do you have a prince charming
in your life in general i do not then i do not have a french charming you know you guys have
let me know your storyline during the bachelor was that i think what you'd never been kissed or
something uh then you got kissed uh and uh have you been kissed since i say i don't kiss and tell
anymore.
Good goodness.
That's what I said.
But I have dated sense and I just think it's tough out there.
It is just, it's a rough world.
It's a rough world.
It is.
I'm hearing that more and more.
I mean, we read a headline yesterday that Susie Evans said dating has become, I think
the quote was almost like some of the people are disgust, like they just like really
been disgusting.
And it sounds like they had been based on her quote, but dating had just been really hard.
that's why I'm thankful I'm not doing it but yeah it's just it's for you it's not easy
huh it's not I just think I I've always like it's always been like I'm not super and I don't
just want to date to date I just don't have fun dating I'm not it's horrible I hate like saying
go to people I hate like going on a date and then like yeah having not liking them and then having
to let them down oh it's the worst it's the worst feeling in the world and I feel like that's
you know that's obviously dating has the majority of the time of what happens so
it's just not fun.
And I feel like I'm looking for like a very specific thing in person.
So I just,
and it's just hard to find.
Yeah.
So yeah,
I just,
it takes one.
I always say it just takes one.
Well,
so holding out for that.
Well,
you're not dating necessarily,
but you are a friend to many.
You are a good friend.
People like you,
Heather.
You get invited to a lot of cool events.
And your best friend,
or one of your best friends or a friend,
I don't know how you categorize,
but say she's up there in your life is Hannah Brown. She just got engaged. I'm going to go out
on a limb here and say that Hannah Brown's wedding might be as spectacular. I think it's going to be
more low key. You think? Well, yeah. What do you think, Heather? I think more low key. I think she's
more low key. Well, I don't know. She lays nice things too. But I just I think Adam and Hannah are just
going to have like a I think it's going to be stunning and beautiful but it probably won't be in
Paris and it'll probably be more chill you know yeah yeah but who knows you never know people
surprise you did you know the engagement was coming I did I was I was going to fly out
Adam had told me like a month and a half ago and he was like I'm doing this at the the bolt farm
tree house thing like I just want you I just like I just had this vision of you being there blah
blah. I was so excited and he's like, it's the 25th. I'm like, oh, you're like, I have a wedding.
Yes, the wedding. And then I had to fly to another wedding so I couldn't even, yeah, I couldn't even
remotely even try. I was going to try to like do it where I can be there for like three hours and
then come back and I was just like it wasn't in the cards. So I was very sad not to be there,
but it was, I think it was perfect for them and it was so beautiful. And now I'm like, I'll go out there
and when I have more time to actually hang out with them and all the things. But they're very happy.
they're very happy and it was yeah it was stunning so I'm so happy for them well Heather to close up
here thank you for breaking down Dylan and Hannah's wedding obviously what we got from it is it's
beautiful is spectacular it took you to a different place in time you had a very interesting bus ride
and you had a great bus ride but we started the podcast with me admitting that I've totally
forgot that you on Matt James's season you we first saw you obviously on Colton's season
you then commented back to me and said, I could forget. Like, you're glad I forgot that you were on Matt James' season. Why is that? Obviously, you made a conscious choice to show up. There was something that was intriguing about Matt to you. You walked in. It's hilarious to me that you walked in because you are a very sweet, kind, just innocent soul in so many ways. And yet you come in and cause drama, which I think's hilarious.
So going back in that time, now looking back on it, how do you feel about that decision?
I mean, I don't regret the decision because I think I would have regretted not trying.
And at the time, all the evidence pointed to like, we could be a good match, you know?
Like, I was like, I just, all I knew is I wanted to meet him.
And Hannah really wanted me to meet him.
It seems like, okay, like this could be, you know, it's, Hannah does never say,
was like, you guys would be a good match.
She does not.
That's not.
Oh, really?
I think, like, she's just very, she's, like,
she's very particular for her friends and what, you know, she knows.
And so she's never like, she's not like a matchmaker.
We're like always trying to set me up, you know.
Are they still friends?
I think so.
I don't think they, you know, it's just one of those things we don't talk all the time.
But yes, they're definitely, I think they're definitely still friends.
Yeah.
But, um, yeah, so I was just like, if I don't do it, I'm going to regret it.
So I don't regret trying.
because I think I would have been wondering.
And now I don't have to wonder.
I just have to embarrass myself on TV.
But it was great.
It was one of those fun things to look back on.
It was hilarious.
Everyone laughs at me in my family and friends.
And it's a fun memory.
Now, Heather, you shared with me something at the wedding that we were both out this weekend
about your stint on that season.
And we can't go step by step through it.
We get in trouble.
But if you can just sum it up in like a,
sentence. What would you say? Oh, gosh, Ashley. I have a line for you if you don't come up
with it. I don't, a sentence? I don't know. I just, I don't know. I just feel like, yeah,
I think it was something that I don't know how to stop in a sentence. I say, don't always believe
what you see. If I'm a listener right now, I have no clue the two of you are talking about. I have no
idea what's going on right now. But we're making them think.
I don't know what I'm thinking about.
There's no, there's no, there's no context.
So Matt James's season, you told Ashley something in secret.
Ashley's now asking you to summarize this experience is what I'm assuming and getting from this.
Yes, exactly.
And you have yet to summarize it.
I don't know how to summarize that.
Yeah, I think Ashley got it.
Like, things aren't always the way they look or seem to be.
So what I get from that is you did not know Matt James was The Bachelor.
You showed up to you somebody else.
They told me, they lied to me and said it was this person and to show up.
And I was shocked to see him.
But the one fact that nobody would actually believe that is true is that Heather herself
chose the minivan to drive up to Nemekolin in.
That is absolute fact.
People always think that was something.
Yeah, even Ashley asked this weekend, they're like, oh, they made you that.
I was like, that was the one thing that I did on my own.
that was the one thing that was my own decision unfortunately i have a philosophy heather anybody
who drives a minivan without kids they're a baller i like them i was gonna say suspect no i respect
i have two buddies who chose to drive a minivan all through college tons of space tons of room
uh tons of opportunity for fun and activities i love it exactly so many room so much room for activities
Well, Heather, you obviously have a lot more activities in your life to get to.
You have a lot of exciting things coming up.
Thank you for coming on the Almost Famous Podcast.
I would love to bring you back after Hannah and Adams wedding
because I doubt I get invited since I've never actually met Hannah in person.
That would be a very weird invite for me.
And so you have to come back.
But here's what I want you to do when you go to that wedding, okay?
Write down notes.
Yes.
I want you bring a notebook.
I want you to write down notes.
I want you to categorize them into romance.
drama, fun, interesting facts.
And then you've gone back on the podcast.
We break it down with you, right?
Perfect.
We'll do.
Thanks, Heather.

Yeah, I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of notes.
I'm like, yeah, as a friend, I cannot share this.
