Listen to the new season of Dresses Come Again on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. This is the Almost Famous Podcast with IHeart Radio. Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. podcast. This is not Ben nor Ashley. I'm Kaelin Bell and I am taking over for Ben and Ashley. We are in Napa with IHeart and we're here for Live in the Vineyard with a bunch of other
Starting point is 00:03:07 Bachelor Nation members, including Katie and Zach. Welcome. Hello. Hello there. Great to have you guys on not my podcast. I'm excited to chat about weddings and your lives and everything you guys are up to you. Same. Okay, wait, I'm sure all of your followers know this, but I don't particularly know this. Where are you guys living right now? We're in Austin, Texas, and we've been in Austin since we wrapped up everything with the show ever since. Do you feel like that's permanent? For now, I think we'll definitely, like, raise our first kid in Texas and kind of just, like, feel it out from there.
Starting point is 00:03:49 But I know, I think we were telling some of Bachelor Nation, or at least on my platform, that we were thinking about moving to the Carolinas, whether it was like north or south. But that hurricane came through and kind of just like made me like really iffy about it. So yeah, what are you laughing about? No, nothing. Because we were like kind of dead set on North Carolina. Both of us have never been before. And we're like, it just sounds and feels right.
Starting point is 00:04:19 And then, you know, things change. And we're like, no, we're sticking in Austin. We're going to buy here. We can see a future here. Yeah. It just felt good. And we were like, I mean, at least me. You already had a community.
Starting point is 00:04:32 But I was like building like friendships. And it just finally felt good. So yeah. And it's, yeah. I think Texas is great for now. But who knows what's going to happen? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Yeah. Okay. I lived in North Carolina for a bit. It is a beautiful state. I hear it's amazing. The oceans, the mountains. You get the seasons. And it's also closer to my home, like my family in Canada.
Starting point is 00:04:54 so that's why many reasons why we gravitated towards that but I think right now we're just kind of setting our ways in Austin and yeah yeah okay I have a question before I get into the list of questions I have I was talking about this with a friend what natural disaster do you think you can live through earthquakes fires what are them all you go first I there's earthquakes fires what else are hurricanes hurricanes tornadoes tornadoes lava lava tsunami
Starting point is 00:05:30 okay avalanche oh yeah what do we think we could like what you everyone has to pick one you know pick one that you think you can live through
Starting point is 00:05:38 because like North Carolina hurricanes Texas tornadoes I feel like the least fatal would be an earthquake because there's different degrees to it hmm yeah so earthquakes I was going to say earthquakes by far
Starting point is 00:05:55 because like in California I grew up in California tons of earthquakes all the time they're like kind of a natural occurrence it doesn't like spook you too much until they say oh the big one's coming but I'd say and I've never experienced
Starting point is 00:06:07 up in Canada probably the worst would be lava because you're the worst yeah I've never heard someone bring up lava in this conversation but fair point I feel like lava is just a thing not a natural disaster.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Why would you say that? I don't know. Okay, so basically. Because it's like, it's a volcano erupting. That's a natural disaster, which leads to lava. So, okay, so I take it back, volcano eruption. Okay. With lava.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Okay, so you have to pick one. You have to pick one natural disaster and that's what you're sticking with. That we can live through? Yeah. And is it earthquakes? I feel like that's the least fatal. Right? This is an intriguing question.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Or do you want to risk it? We can talk about this all the time. Or we can risk it and think that we could live through lava. No, we're not living through lava. I'd say, earthquake's a great one, and I think hurricanes. So, okay, this settles it, North Carolina or California for where you should live. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Yeah. Sit on that. Sit on that. So you're saying we should move to California. Because they have earthquakes. North Carolina has the hurricanes. I guess we're moving to California. It's a good game.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Where should we move, you know? Yeah. Think about it. I just needs to become a billionaire before we moved to California. I'm trying. I'm trying. Okay, so let's chat about weddings. Do you guys have a wedding update?
Starting point is 00:07:40 Are you still eloping? We are still eloping. How small do you think it would be with an elopement? Literally there is seven people. That's amazing. Yeah, very interesting. very personal and that's it just fits our personality so well and I feel like you know we had the big contract we had the big wedding venue the you know the all of it was big and it was I think
Starting point is 00:08:04 we were quoted like 80K for the wedding and we had the contract in our hands and it was like this doesn't feel right doesn't feel like us like you know what you mean so we just kind of like looked at each other and it was just like you know what let's not sign this and just like take a step back. And we ended up deciding on eloping. And honestly, when did we think of the date? Like back in January? We were like, hey, should we get married this day? This makes sense. Feels good. And we're like, yeah, let's do it. Oh, wow. And then it all just kind of fell into place. Took a lot of pressure off too. Yeah. Oh, I can imagine. Would it be abroad or in the States? Austin. Austin. Nice. We're staying in Austin. Amazing. So you have a date. You have a location.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Yeah. It's like 30 minutes away from our home. Our family's flying in. and it's going to be an hour ceremony. If that, yeah. And call it a day. Go for dinner. That's amazing. Yeah. Very chill.
Starting point is 00:09:01 You guys are very smart as someone who got me a year and a half ago. It is so expensive. We keep hearing that. It was a great day, but it's just the cost doesn't. It's crazy. But I do want to know who had more opinions about the wedding vibe between the two of you. Who had more like opinions on the wedding, like the vibe of the wedding, like everything.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Me. Yeah, yeah, me for sure. Zach is so amazing. He was like, baby, if you want the big wedding, let's do it. If you want the small wedding, let's do it. You want to go to Italy, we'll make it work. Like, he's so amazing. But I think, yeah, at the end of the day, like the eloping just was just perfect for us and just fits our vibe.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And we're so, like, chill and just like we don't need the limelight or anything like that. We don't need, like, a big wedding. We don't need the attention. We've had it. And it's honestly, this is just perfect for us. And we're not telling anybody the date because we just, we want to just, like, soak it in ourselves. Like, I don't want anybody to know until we're ready to, like, let people know. And we can share about it.
Starting point is 00:10:07 But, like, yeah. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly. And now I'm seriously suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking. for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the okay story time podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's
Starting point is 00:10:32 insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport.
Starting point is 00:11:12 The holiday rush. Parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Law and order, criminal justice system is, Back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, it's Daniel Fischel, writer Strong, and Wilfredel from PodMeets World. And we're bringing you Viva Las Content. That's right. We are back in Las Vegas, the city of sin, and giving the people what they want. A full week of Y2K content. Wait, we're back in Vegas? Tell me why? Well, for the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere, of course.
Starting point is 00:12:33 We sat down with Kevin Richardson and A.J. McLean just minutes before they took the stage, and our very own Wilfredel basically became the newest member of the band. Boy band, please. Plus, the man who has the longest running comedy show on the strip joins us. and gets his props. It's carrot top, baby. And finally, we all L-O-V-E-Hur, Ashley Simpson-Ross, joins us to talk about her upcoming sold-out Vegas residency.
Starting point is 00:13:00 It's a full week of nostalgic interviews you don't want to miss. Listen to PodMeets World on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Learn how to get comfortable pivoting because your life is going to be full of them. Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court. And of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open.
Starting point is 00:14:15 The U.S.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans, whether you play tennis or not. Tennis is full of compelling stories of late. Have you heard about icon Venus Williams' recent wildcard bids or the young Canadian, Victoria Mboko, making a name for herself? How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form? To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain. I heart women's sports production in partnership with deep blue sports and entertainment on the IHart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. I think that's why people are so drawn to you guys is because some people from this show are drawn to that spotlight, you know, and drawn to the limelight and drawn to whatever it may be. And you guys just feel very real and natural and, like, natural. as a couple too. Thank you. This is my only second time spending time with you guys, but you guys do feel like real. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:15:22 I appreciate that. We get that a lot too and it's such a huge compliment. Yeah. Yeah, like one thing like we always like focus on is like what we did was crazy. What you've done is crazy. Like we all lived through it. But what's most important that we find for each other is like, all right, let's just, let's focus on each other.
Starting point is 00:15:41 And like that this, all this extra stuff, it's so fun. so fun. You never know like when it's going to change. But like what at the end of the day that Kate's all that matters and like our relationship is all that matters. And that kind of transpired into like how we view when we get married. Just keep it simple and about our love. That's it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's like the healthiest approach that you can have. Yeah. I'm just so happy for you. Thank you. Appreciate that. We're so excited. Like literally every day, a love look at him and I'll be like, I cannot wait to marry you. And I'm not even, I'm not even lying. I literally do it. Probably more than once a day. No, at least once a. I just like, every time I look
Starting point is 00:16:24 at him, I just like see my husband, my future. I see everything. And I just get so excited. I just have to tell him like, I cannot wait to marry you. That's so special. It's honestly the best feeling when you're like, I'm marrying my best friend. Yeah. And we're doing it the way we want to do it and we're having fun with it. That's it. That's right. And it's been two years, right? Two and a half, two and a half. Coming on two and a half, yeah. That's a really good amount of time. And again, I don't know when you're getting married,
Starting point is 00:16:50 but that's a good amount of time where you can really feel out the relationship outside of the show, too. Oh, totally. Yeah. Living together and all that good stuff. Yeah. And we're buying our first home this year.
Starting point is 00:17:00 That's huge. Yeah. By the end of this year. Yeah. We got to start house hunting out of the list of things. Thank. Wedding, planning, and house hunting is a lot on your plate. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:17:13 It's crazy. Yeah. Oh, my God. Wow. Okay, back to the wedding. Are there any non-negotiables? For the wedding? Yeah, for either of you.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Like things that need to happen. Yeah, like I must have this or I can't have this or I don't know. Honestly, okay, not really because like we were originally going to have a courthouse wedding, literally just go in. We started that, yeah. No videographer, nothing. We were going to go inside the page. and just like maybe do like some photos here and there and then go for dinner and then my mom was like hey have you thought about a chapel and I was like no no no and literally it wasn't until
Starting point is 00:17:58 like I want to say four or three weeks ago where I was like wait a second I think the chapel's a great idea I want a videographer I do want to document this and then it's kind of transpired into something bigger, but to answer your question, there really isn't any because it all started so... We started at the base line. Yeah, we were just like, we were just going to go to the courthouse. There was no florals. There was no big wedding dress.
Starting point is 00:18:28 There was nothing. So, I mean, we've just kind of worked our way up to like make it a little bit more elevated in a chapel setting, but like, I'm not like, baby, we need this. It's just kind of like, hey. Does this sound like a fun idea to add? or is this like a dumb idea and then we'll like spit it back and forth and sometimes we'll be like yeah probably not worth it or yeah that's a good idea let's run with it but like overall it's a small yeah it's so small but i will say i'm really adamant on getting like a vintage car oh yes i was
Starting point is 00:19:03 i really want like kind of like old money vibes to it yeah so i'm trying to like hone in on that But, but yeah, like. Or in a good, like, photographer and videographer. Yes. Like, having that moment for life, like, you want to look back on that. Yeah. That is a really important thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:22 So it's all, like, long-winded dancer. But, like, it's all just kind of escalated a little bit. But at the same time, it's like, no. Not really. It's seven people. Yeah, it's really seven people. So, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:34 You fit everyone in the same house. Yeah. For our wedding. Yeah. No, I mean. There is really no non-negotiables. I'm really fascinated by this. Were you guys both, like, growing up?
Starting point is 00:19:47 Because I was, I don't know, obsessed with princesses and, like, my wedding day, obsessed over it. Did you guys have that period of your life or not really? I mean, I always dreamed of, like, having a wedding. And I think as I got older, and since meeting Zach, I've, like, thought about more of, like, a wedding day. But my mom never got married. So, like, I think growing up, I was like, oh, like, you know, if I get married, that's awesome. If it doesn't happen for me, I know I'll be okay. Like, I never really fantasized about having a wedding.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Honestly, what I fantasized about was having a good man in my life, not an extravagant wedding or, like, what my dress was going to look like. But, yeah, I never really, to answer that. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. like I don't want to like pawn it off to like the typical I guess like maybe a typical guy answer but it's like for me it no like I didn't ever think like oh I need to have a big wedding and etc like for me what was most important at the end of the day is like the person I marry the person I want to wake up to every morning like that matters so much more than like this day that costs a lot of money like in my mind like that wasn't like a high priority was more like I just want to find that person to where we make it official and, you know, we're going to the end of days with. Yeah. So that's, that was more important than even thinking of like, what kind of florals am I going
Starting point is 00:21:17 to have? Or what's the color of my suit or tucks? Like I never actually ever thought of that. Yeah. Ever. The way that you guys talk about marriage and like the wedding, not marriage, the wedding is so impressive compared. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:32 It's like people don't talk about weddings or marriage or anything like the way that you guys do. fairly special. Because it's so much focused on like, oh, the dress was really stressful. The guest list was really stressful. And it's like stress, stress, stress. And you guys feel very, like, calm and at peace. Oh, we are. And it's because we're not like, you said this perfectly the other day. It's like we aren't doing this for other people. It's not like, hey, we should get this type of catering because these people are coming. Or you know what I mean? It's not about that. Like, you know what I mean? It's just like, it's just for us. Yeah. We're doing what is for us. Exactly. And like, that's to say, like, we did meet with a plan.
Starting point is 00:22:06 or you know months ago and we went through you know a lot of the the the loops to try to figure out like what could this look like and we were seeing that stress that like you know a lot of people go through and we're like we don't need to do this because like at the end of the day it's not about that and then we reminded ourselves yeah what it is yeah so yeah so I'm so happy dean isn't here when you guys are talking I'm like thank God he's not here because he'd be like we should have eloped yeah so beautiful honestly it's really really really happy for you guys it's crazy how much money goes into that wedding industry it's insane yeah no it's really disgusting um and you guys are so smart but seriously like i really do mean it the way that you guys
Starting point is 00:22:48 speak about this it's so beautiful and that's what marriage should be and that's what a wedding should be about so i'm so excited thank you thank you we're so excited and thank you guys for coming on the almost famous podcast without ben and ashley i really appreciate it of course thanks for having us My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
