Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHeart Radio. Welcome back to the Almost Famous podcast. It's Ben with another recap of Bachelor in Paradise.
Starting point is 00:02:59 And this time I've got a very special guest, a part of the IHeart family, one of Bachelor Nation's most beloved cast members of all time. she stole our hearts, she made us cry, she's great. We were in Tahoe last week and together because we have some exciting news to talk about before we break down the episode, Daisy Kent is here from Joey's season. I don't know if anybody really needed to know that. Of course, they knew she was on Joey's season, but it might have been Daisy and Kelsey season more than Joey. I don't know if Joey gets the credit for that season.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yeah, we get the credit. I love Joey, but his cast was awesome. Daisy, we're breaking. down to this week's episode of Bachelor in Paradise. You started out when you got on here. You said, I loved this episode, which is awesome because I did as well. I'm really excited to talk about it. I have a lot of feelings. Some things are becoming more clear to me, some things that have been confusing throughout the season. But before we break it down, I want to talk about this new show you have coming out. That's out, actually, as I've just been informed, Dirty Rush. Dirty Rush is the
Starting point is 00:04:09 name of the show. I'm going to let you explain it to me, but I will say this. The whole I heart team that was out with us in Tahoe is so fired up for this show. They think it's going to be a massive hit. You're going to be flying around in private jets based on this show. Like, they think the world of this show. What is it about? Why should people listen? I'll just give the floor to you. I think it's really interesting because me, Gia and Jen, I feel like we all have such different backgrounds. Who are the co-host? Explain the co-host a little bit because you say Gia and Jen, they might not know who they're. Oh, yeah. So, Gia, she's been on, like, Bravo her whole life, on, like, the real housewives
Starting point is 00:04:45 of New Jersey. And then, um, Jen, she was also on that. And then me, I come from, like, the Bachelor, ABC side of things. So I think we all have very, like, we all grew up very differently. And also, like, our sorority experiences, I feel like we went to completely different schools. So we all have something different to say about it. And I think it's going to be cool because from the episodes that we recorded already. Yes, it is about like sororities and it's about like the relationships you make in them also like the crazy things that happen in them. But it also ties it back to like growing up and in college is such an exciting time in your life. But it can also be hard. So we're there to like give advice and help girls too. So I think it's going to be really
Starting point is 00:05:30 special all of the things that we're able to do with it because college was such a life changing time for me. And that's where I met my best friends. And a lot of it had to do with being in a sorority, but I also didn't love being in a sorority all the time. So I think that's kind of where my experience comes in. You know, from my experience in Greek life, which was very short-lived based on some very unfortunate circumstances that occurred in my life at the time, it wasn't always pretty. And I think sororities, when I went to college, I had this picture of a sorority. They had a lot better food than the fraternities. They were a lot prettier people than the fraternities. But if you start lifting up the lid a little bit, you can see inside. And it's not always
Starting point is 00:06:18 like this wonderful, beautiful experience. Are you talking about that? Are you sharing the good, the bad, the uglies? Or is it just kind of helping people as they enter into this season? No, we're definitely sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. And also like the really great things that come out of it, which I think is what makes this podcast very. special. I also think I can relate a lot to a lot of different experiences that girls go through in college, whether being in a sorority or not, because there was a time when I also wasn't in a sorority. And so I think it's just going to be a lot of, like, fun conversations. And anyone can call in and talk on the podcast. So I think that's really cool. And you'll be
Starting point is 00:07:00 completely anonymous also. So yeah, we just want to hear people's experiences and give our advice. So we're excited for everyone to tune in. It's a big, it's going to be a big show. Iheart is excited about it. Final question for you. You know, I hear about the sorority show. I know some of the content that you were putting out there in Tahoe. A lot of it seemed to be around prepping to enter into a sorority or what's it like life in a sorority.
Starting point is 00:07:29 But your listener really ranges from not only those that are pursuing the idea of a sorority, living inside of a sorority currently, also people in their 50, 60, 70s who are a part of a sorority, why would they listen to this? Because I know that's a huge demo that you want to speak to. I think because we have
Starting point is 00:07:47 and we're going to have moms on the show to also talk about being a mom and the pressure that's put on girls going through the recruitment process and just how, like for me, I had a really, really fun time and I think part of that was I didn't understand what I was doing
Starting point is 00:08:02 when I was going through it. I knew nothing about a sorority, but I think it'll be cool for like the moms to listen and give their side of things because I know like my mom, she's always told me when I go through something and it's like great or it's like really hard. She feels those emotions like 10 times more for me than she's ever felt for herself. Like I think a mom's love is just so powerful. So I think hearing mom's stories and their experiences too is also going to be great. And also the girls who like weren't in sororities are the ones who don't want to be in
Starting point is 00:08:33 ones, that's okay too. And I think talking about that also is really important because I was that way also. It's going to be a great show. It's called Dirty Rush. You can find it right now wherever you listen to podcast. It's one of our new IHeart family podcast, Daisy Kent, is a co-host. I'm excited for it. A lot of, a lot of just giddiness in Tahoe around this new launch of this new show. Now, back to our show here at the Almost Famous podcast to talk about Bachelor in Paradise. As I said, Daisy is excited to talk about this episode. I don't know if she liked it or didn't like it yet. We're going to get into that as we go. Daisy also is young enough and relevant enough to have friends that are currently on the show. So maybe she can give us an
Starting point is 00:09:18 inside glance at what they were experiencing during filming. We're going to start with this. It's the rose ceremony again. We're kind of starting the episode of one hour to the rose ceremony. If you remember from last week's episode, the men have the roses this week, this week. There's a big kind of imbalance when it comes to the goldens. There's, well, six women, three roses. So three women are going to be going home. I've been confused about that now for the last week. Don't really get clarity on it, but we get to see some relationships form. Daisy, your thoughts at the beginning of this episode as we enter into the rose ceremony. with who has the roses and who doesn't?
Starting point is 00:10:01 I honestly didn't know who the goldens were all going to give their roses to. I thought Leslie and Gary for sure had a great connection. I wasn't sure about Kim. When I saw the conversations, I honestly thought that Kim was going to give it to Nancy because their conversation was so heartwarming. I don't think I saw the whole conversation between by my way. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Yeah, Kim and Faith. they just didn't show as like deep of a conversation I felt but then after she got his rose and they had more of a conversation then I was like oh that makes sense but honestly I was I'm happy they stayed I was bummed to see Nancy go because I've met her multiple times she is amazing and honestly I think they should make her the next golden bachelorette I agree with you Nancy and I grew up on the same lake in Indiana so I know Nancy well yeah we're like neighbors in a town of 10,000. Did you know her before she went on the show?
Starting point is 00:11:00 I did not, but I know her family very well. And her mom and I were co-counselors at church camp for three summers together. Her mom was like, is one of the most helpful, sweetest ladies. But I always knew of Nancy. I worked with her son for a summer. I never knew Nancy until the show. I love Nancy. But here's the thing with Nancy.
Starting point is 00:11:23 She's not a, I don't want to say a slow burn because you love her right away. I think when it comes to dating, she's intentional. Yeah. And so this setup didn't really work for her, kind of coming in, being there for a day, needing to make a connection, kind of needing to put herself out there and flirt a lot. I think Nancy's the type, honestly, she's marriage material with the one that's like, I'm here, I'm in it, I'm not going to date around too much. I kind of focus on one person.
Starting point is 00:11:49 And there just wasn't options for her. Yeah. She kind of ran into an impossible scenario for Nancy. Yeah. No, I agree. Yeah, I feel like she's definitely more of a slow burn, but I would love her to be the Bachelorette. Oh, she'd be terrific as the Bachelorette, a little bit of control. She can, you know, point the conversations in the right direction. I love her. The big question I have right now kind of going into this first row ceremony was, where is Dale and Kat going to spit out? Like, how are they going to function? It feels very unhealthy to me at this point. It still feels unhealthy after this episode. episode. I know they're getting better, but it feels like they're getting better by just talking less. And I don't think that's a good thing for a relationship. Maybe they're not showing all of it, but I feel like it's been like so much back and forth. I'm honestly like I don't know. I wish they
Starting point is 00:12:43 would show some more of the couples that seem to have like really sturdy connections. Because like we've barely seen any of Jess and Spencer besides the beginning. And like I mean, I'm good friends with Jess obviously like I love her but like they're also both so funny like watching we need to be shown more of that but yeah I wasn't sure about um Dale and Kat either and I think him like he was saying like cat won't open up to me and he's like so maybe Alicia it like you could see he was like felt like he was a little conflicted did you think so I honestly don't think think Dale's conflicted. I think he wants Alicia. And I just think he's nervous to say it. I think as soon as she walked in and it was coming off of the cat and Dale argument.
Starting point is 00:13:37 And from a viewer's standpoint, I'm watching you going, he wants to be with Alicia. He just doesn't know how to do it without absolutely breaking cat's heart and making himself look like a jerk. So he's not doing it. But it seems like he's trying to find the reasons and the excuses and saying she's not opening up to me so that's why this relationship isn't going to work yeah i think if i'm very interested in the previews for next week where it tests the relationship when jesse says you know there's connections here but i know some of you have eyes for somebody else i immediately thought of dale i didn't think of jeremy even though i know i immediately thought of dale and i was like i would right now daisy yeah as we sit here i will put my chips
Starting point is 00:14:23 your chips on the this blows dail and cat up next week whatever they are planning was designed to blow them up jeremy might have to come and be honest with his feelings and emotions for susie but it's going to blow dail and cat up i thought him and bailey i thought because from the previews we've seen before i thought it was going to be really bad and like their relationship was going to blow up but then from the preview at the end it made it seem like they probably got through it and then and all of the, like, blowback was on Brian. Wow. It does seem like that.
Starting point is 00:15:00 That's why I think this is only focused on Daly and Kat. The show said we need to do something to break them up because it's not going to be hard to do. We'll have to see. It's a teaser for next episode. I have no clue, but that's what my mind is going towards. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy?
Starting point is 00:15:42 That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Hello, it's Daniel Official. Writer Strong and Wilfredel from PodMeets World. And we're bringing you Viva Las Content. That's right. We are back in Las Vegas, the city of sin, and giving the people. what they want. A full week of Y2K content. Wait, we're back in Vegas? Tell me why. Well, for the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere, of course.
Starting point is 00:16:32 We sat down with Kevin Richardson and A.J. McLean just minutes before they took the stage, and our very own Wilfredel basically became the newest member of the band. Boy band, please. Plus, the man who has the longest running comedy show on the strip joins us and gets his props. It's carrot top, baby. And finally, we all end up. L-O-V-E-Hur, Ashley Simpson-Ross, joins us to talk about her upcoming sold-out Vegas residency.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It's a full week of nostalgic interviews you don't want to miss. Listen to PodMeets World on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and order, criminal justice system is. back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:18:13 The U.S. Open is here, and on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain, I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history. The predictions will we see a first-time winner and the pressure. Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court and, of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans, whether you play tennis or not. Tennis is full of compelling stories of late.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Have you heard about Icon Venus Williams' recent wildcard bids? Or the young Canadian, Victoria Mboko, making a name for herself? How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form? To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain, an Iheart women's sports production in partnership with deep blue sports and entertainment on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. I don't write songs. God write songs.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I take dictation. I didn't even know you've been a pastor. for over 10 years. I think culture is any space that you live in that develops you. On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast, I sat down with Warren Campbell, Grammy-winning producer, pastor, and music executive to talk about the beats, the business,
Starting point is 00:19:34 and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. This is like watching Michael Jackson talk about Thurley before it happened. Was there a particular moment where you realize just how instrumental music culture was to shaping all of our global ecosystem? years old, and the Motown 25 special came on. And all the great Motown artists, Marvin, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Diana Raw.
Starting point is 00:20:00 From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music and the purpose that drives it. Listen to Culture raises us on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We did walk into the rose ceremony. The men do have the roses, as I said. any big surprises for you here? I know you're friends with Leia as well. At this point were you like Jonathan and Leia are definitely working? I thought they were for sure going to, she was going to get his rose because like who else would he give his rose to also, you know?
Starting point is 00:20:36 Like they were the only two that were there that kind of like didn't have like a strong connection to the people they were talking to, I feel like. But then, yeah, he could have also saved April. but I don't know, I didn't see him doing that again because then there would be no other golden guy there for her, you know, so it didn't really make sense. And it felt like him and Leo were kind of like they were seen if they could figure it out. Was it the right thing for him to do to give his rose to April? I mean, kind of pay it forward.
Starting point is 00:21:11 She's now in a similar spot that he was. I don't think so. Okay. Why? I just feel like I mean April did that to be like really nice and like kind and obviously but I think like everyone at that point probably already knew that there wasn't
Starting point is 00:21:26 going to be another golden guy coming in because they didn't bring any more in for the like however many girls they had there so and he was still kind of seeing how him and Leah could go at that point so I don't think it was wrong of him
Starting point is 00:21:40 to give his rose to Leah. No I don't think so either. I'm with you mostly because it felt like a really nice thing for April to do, but how long can you extend that until it gets awkward? I like they're just going to do it back and forth. Yeah. Like, it just doesn't really fit. Yeah. Um, because they're not talking to each other, uh, in between times. They're just like giving out charity roses. And I don't think that's at all with the show once, nor is it actually helpful for the two couples to find somebody. Yeah, definitely. I agree. It brings us to the big moment.
Starting point is 00:22:12 So, uh, Natasha, April, Nancy go home. And then we see. Jesse come in late at night. Goodness gracious. It's dark. It looks late. Everybody's excited because they just got somebody else's rose. Love is in the air. And Jesse says, everything's about to change. Paradise has been leading up to this moment, Daisy. We've been teasing it. We've been hearing about it. We didn't know what it was. We've heard some type of money and now we know it's a half a million dollars, which we kind of expected. After Jesse's announcement that everything changed, we still don't know a lot about what is changing. We know there's going to be games and competitions and different types of things to help relationships maybe grow stronger. I'm assuming when you said
Starting point is 00:22:56 you really got excited about this episode, this was one of those moments. Do you like the idea of a half a million dollars being on the line for Paradise? Or do you like it better when there was no money and only the gift of a relationship? Honestly, I think they needed to add like a different spin to it. so I think it does make it fun and it'll be like games and stuff but I'm also like it seems like everyone's getting like more strategic about it and I do think for
Starting point is 00:23:22 like a lot of people it'll be just about the money I mean that's a lot of money so I feel like as time goes on it will like tell more I'm also like I wish they explain more to us because I feel like okay yeah there's like half a million dollars at the end
Starting point is 00:23:41 but like are they going to keep weeding away people until there's one couple standing and then like can people still like get engaged at that well I know I'm guessing some people do because at the like first episode they showed a teaser of like rings so I'm like how is this all going to work out I like wish they gave more clarification on like the game situation but what do you think I think they honestly are kind of figuring out as they go I really think the show knew that there was going to be money and knew there was going to be competitions. But I think they're waiting to see how relationships evolve. And then they're kind of saying, here's a competition for this week. Like, for example, they see Dale and Kat
Starting point is 00:24:21 kind of bickering, arguing, Dale saying in ITMs that he's looking elsewhere. And they say, perfect. This week, we're going to have a competition that makes couples decide if they're really in it or if they want somebody else. So I don't know if they know a lot. I don't know if there was a big grand plan for how the competitions would work. Yeah. It's, I've been very, very against the money. Yeah. I have been very against the money because I didn't want it to get in their way of relationships.
Starting point is 00:24:51 However, what happened for this first competition was that people actually started asking each other questions. What do you like to do for fun? How much money do you spend on this? And I think that's so healthy for relationships. So my tune hasn't changed. I still don't know if I love the money aspect. We've still done it without money, honestly.
Starting point is 00:25:10 A hundred percent. If you just tell a bunch of reality television people to compete, they will. Yeah. Like kept bringing in other people too. Like I think the fact that they're not bringing in other people, it doesn't make it as exciting for a watcher. No, I like to see the new people show up to the beach. I like to see a little bit of chaos and drama happened. I think there was this possibility and they didn't allow it for whatever reason. You know, the money is life changing. And it does make couples refocus. It does put a little heat on the show and on each competition. But I did like the couples were connecting again, including Faith and Kim. As you said at the beginning, you didn't know where their relationship stood, but we get to see them kind of following the next day, really having a conversation that felt
Starting point is 00:25:59 like the two of them were seeing eye to eye more than I've seen really any golden couple up to this point. Yeah, no, I feel like it was really like. genuine and cute and it just made me go like oh it was like when i first watched the first season of the golden bachelor like just how it made your heart feel like so good love that i also loved leslie and gary talking on the beach together i thought that was so cute i am bound that they went home because i love gary's like commentation on the show i think it's like so good hilarious and everything's just so good that he says so i'm
Starting point is 00:26:40 bum that they're not going to be there anymore. I'm bummed too. Now, we can talk about this now. Gary and Leslie were in Tahoe with us this last weekend. I don't know if you had a different conversation with them that I didn't. But you would never, like from our time with them, I would not know if they were together or not. The Golden's do one thing really well. They don't share secrets. They don't break in DAs. They don't talk about anything that happened on the show. And to their credit, they didn't. No matter what, who we are. around or what they were doing they were saying can't talk about it you have to watch like the typical cliche things the show tells us to tell people it's ridiculous but we saw them together
Starting point is 00:27:21 and they weren't distant but i would not know if they were best friends who at one point dated or if they're still in a relationship and hiding it for us if they if that's what they were doing how tough does that have to be to be like dating somebody and be distant from them for three days so that nobody, you know, can tell. Yeah, definitely extremely difficult. I'm honestly surprised they were, like, allowed to go on the same trip. But I'm excited to see. I hope they, do you know if they have, like, a reunion show?
Starting point is 00:27:54 I don't know if they do yet. I have no idea how we get to update other than social media. I mean, I'm guessing on social media, we're going to find out if they are actually dating or not. Yeah. I hope they are because being around them, they are cute together. but I will say they did not lead us into either direction. They were very much in the middle. Definitely not.
Starting point is 00:28:18 It's wild. Even after a few drinks, it's not like they got cuddly. But who knows what was happening once everybody left? I couldn't tell you. It's not my place to even assume. Well, we do have some strong relationships forming with the Golden's, Kim and Faith, Gary and Leslie. We still have Kathy and Keith, which just feel like two buddies hanging out, drinking cocktails together. No romance being shown, but I do love the two of them.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Yeah. We have no shockers yet in the Youngens group. Preece and Brian are still together. Cat and Dale stay together. Jeremy and Bailey are together. Daisy, we see the prep for these relationships. As I said, I liked it because it felt like they were asking each other questions. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:06 But it leads us to this competition, which I think is what we have to dive into next. Yeah. The competition, it wasn't as glamorous or as highly produced as I thought these competitions were going to be. Yeah, I agree. It was, you know, it didn't miss. It just, I felt like if you're going to bring half a million dollars in and make people do competitions, we're getting like survivor type competition. That's what I was thinking to. I was expecting like survival.
Starting point is 00:29:36 but it's mostly a get-to-know-you game that's kind of where we sit i you know there for me there's not a lot to talk about here uh obviously we see the brian and parisa thing kind of continue where it doesn't seem like they're clicking it seems like they both just are so mad at each other i don't know where their relationship necessarily goes yeah i feel like i don't know i feel like it's kind of a mess honestly I mean, I feel like Brian kind of expects her to, like, react to situations exactly how he, like, wants somebody to react, like, what he thinks is the perfect reaction. But I'm like, that's not how our relationship goes. Like, at all.
Starting point is 00:30:23 And he seems like he tells, he's telling her that she's giving him too many compliments. Like, what? Who has ever said that? My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam, maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, They're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants
Starting point is 00:31:15 them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hello, it's Daniel Fischel. Writer Strong. And Wilfredel from PodMeets World. And we're bringing you Viva Las Content.
Starting point is 00:31:35 That's right. We are back in Las Vegas, the city of sin, and giving the people what they want. A full week of Y2K content. Wait, we're back in Vegas? Tell me why. Well, for the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere, of course. We sat down with Kevin Richardson and A.J. McLean just minutes before they took the stage, and our very own Wilfredel basically became the newest member of the band.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Boy band, please. Plus, the man who has the longest running comedy show on the strip joins us and gets his props. It's carrot top, baby. And finally, we all L-O-V-E-Hur, Ashley Simpson-Ross, joins us to talk about her upcoming sold-out Vegas residency. It's a full week of nostalgic interviews you don't want to miss. Listen to PodMeets World on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything
Starting point is 00:32:44 changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and order criminal justice system is back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:33:32 The U.S. Open is here, and on my podcast, Good game with Sarah Spain. I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history. The predictions will we see a first time winner and the pressure? Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court and of course the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, their whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis. fans, whether you play tennis or not.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Tennis is full of compelling stories of late. Have you heard about Icon Venus Williams' recent wild card bids? Or the young Canadian, Victoria Mboko, making a name for herself? How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form? To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain, an Iheart women's sports production in partnership with Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. I don't write songs. God write songs. I take dictation. I didn't even know you've been a pastor for over 10 years.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I think culture is any space that you live in that develops you. On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast, I sat down with Warren Campbell, Grammy winning producer, pastor, and music executive to talk about the beats, the business, and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. This is like watching Michael Jackson talk about thoroughly before it happened. Was there a particular moment where you realize just how instrumental music culture was to shaping all of our global ecosystem? I was eight years old, and the Motown 25 special came on. And all the great Motown artists, Marvin, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Diana Raw. From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music and the purpose that drives it. Listen to Culture raises us on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Our producer for this show had texted us saying that Brian was really like getting on her nerves during this episode. I think he was not only getting on her nerves, he was getting on a lot of people's nerves, including the girl that he's romantic with. Yeah. Daisy, you're in a serious relationship, right? Yeah. Expectations in a serious relationship are not a healthy thing to have. no you know you just have to kind of throw those out to under not that somebody doesn't meet your expectations but if you go into every scenario being like i need you to do this and this is how i think this should
Starting point is 00:36:09 work you're just kind of you're honestly trying to mold the person into maybe somebody they're not i mean you're two different people you're always going to be two different people but the thing that makes it like a good relationship is where you can talk about those things but also like enjoy the things that make you different and I'll be like, like, this is why I don't like you. I don't know. I'm with you. I totally get it. I feel like picking her apart, which I don't enjoy. It's not, it wouldn't be fun, especially in this environment to be picked apart. We do see Bailey and Jeremy win this date based on a crazy decision that Gary makes. In fact, Gary and Leslie go home because of this decision he makes. He is not a good gambler. He got,
Starting point is 00:36:55 got way overconfident. These are the moments, Daisy, on the show that you couldn't produce. Yeah. It just happened and you go, what in the world is this person doing? This is going to be outrageous and he did it. Yeah, the three people. I honestly, I felt sad for her because I'm like, I've never like met Bailey in person, but she seems so sweet and just like nice and authentic from what I've seen of her from
Starting point is 00:37:23 paradise and I'm like and of course they give it to her because she's like they know they'll get a reaction out of her I feel like but it was sad for her to do that I kind of figured she was going to send one of the golden people at home because when they were doing I remember there's a spot where Jeremy goes he's like I hate the goldens are so annoying or something like that let's pause on that for a second I that was my next big conversation I wouldn't have with you that, where is that coming from? How do you say the goldens are annoying? That seems absolutely not only mean, incorrect. They're the best part of the show so far. Yeah, no, truly, they are. And I think, I don't know. It's just like, it was just kind of a mean comment also. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:38:13 what is he thinking? Like, oh, they're like taking away time from me being on the show. That's like right where my mind meant. Like, oh, are you just like saying that because you want more attention? on you? I don't know. Here's the other side of that. He says that they're just always sharing monologues. And as you get older, I think that's what people do. They kind of, but here is a different way to look at this, Jeremy. You aren't doing too great yourself. It hasn't blown up on you yet, but goodness gracious, I think it's going to. You might stay together through it. I hope you do. Love is for everybody. But instead of pushing the goldens aside like they are forgotten, which was the whole point of the Golden Show in general, was to show that as you get
Starting point is 00:38:59 older, you're not forgotten, you're needed necessary, and that you deserve the greatest chapter of any chapter so far. Maybe you should start listening to those monologues for some wisdom to make you a little better, to make you learn a little more because they've been there and done that. And goodness gracious, son, so far, you're blowing this thing up behind the scenes and haven't gotten caught for it yet. Yeah. No. I totally agree. And I think this next episode is going to be really interesting. I also think you can definitely see the tension between Jeremy and Brian.
Starting point is 00:39:32 Like, I think they're like, oh, yeah, we're friends. Like, he's my friend. But, like, but there's always a but. I'm like, you're definitely like not friends. Yeah. Not that close. You're not that close. If you're good friends, this would never be coming up.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Yeah, you like mutually have gone to a club together. and gotten, you know, bottle service and you call each other friends. That's not a real friendship, especially for the previews. Yeah, definitely. Well, we do see Bailey get the Rose. She kind of skipping through a bunch of random conversations leading us up to Bailey's decision at the Rose ceremony to not give Gary and Leslie the Rose. One of the things in between the end of the competition and the final Rose ceremony of this episode,
Starting point is 00:40:21 is something with Jonathan and Leia. We see Jonathan tell Cat that he has no romantic feelings for Leia. You're a friend of hers. So I'm assuming you've been attuned to her on this show. Yeah. Did you think there was romantic feelings up into this point? I mean, if you were like to tell me that they would like if some, because I know Jonathan and I know Leia.
Starting point is 00:40:51 and I'm like if you were to like tell me that they were together I would kind of be like what like they're both amazing people but I think they're just like very different and so when it was happening but then it seemed like they were both kind of like okay like we're the last two here like we might as well like see how this goes and if something can be there and I felt like that was both of them the reaction and then I felt like all of a sudden to catch on and then was like oh no like we're just friends now I can chill in paradise. And I was like, dude, you should like say that just like straight up to Leah. Yeah, I've, I've been with Jonathan. He is a outgoing human. You know what? He's getting, he's getting this. His journey through paradise is similar to so many others we've seen who are outgoing and flirty and not really, in my opinion, ready to settle down. That's not a knock on him more than it's just you don't show the signs of somebody that
Starting point is 00:41:51 wants to commit to a relationship for the next 50 years of 60 years, 70 years of your life. And as a result, it does make him look like he's skipping around to whoever's next and leading them on and then saying, hey, we're just friends, right? He's done it maybe one too many times here. At some point, he has to realize that he is there because people are interested in being romantic with you. He can't just get away with being everybody's best friend for the whole time. Yeah, no, I agree.
Starting point is 00:42:20 And I think that's been like the case. He's definitely just like been best friends and like tried to make it work, but then not. I feel like he's been like doubling back on like things he's been saying. So I don't know. But I love him. I think he's great. But I just, I don't.
Starting point is 00:42:38 I didn't know what he was doing there. I mean, I think he's great also. But he is, I think from the short time I've spent with him, somebody that probably talks faster than his mind is actually like going. like going and so he says things and probably does forget that he said it but he's just kind of filling the space and then all of a sudden he looks back he's like oh dang i did say that didn't i shoot yeah this doesn't look good i don't think he's like trying to harm lea but she's mad yeah she's mad yeah explain yeah she's mad and she gets up and walks away
Starting point is 00:43:14 she kind of just ends the conversation and i was like okay i mean i get it because if she was giving if they like felt like they were both giving each other the vibes like that they were going to like see like they didn't know but they were going to see and then someone comes up to you and is like no like then like i understand and then she got up and left i thought honestly i thought the rose ceremony was hilarious when she was like when he walked up and she goes welcome and then yeah so good and here's the best part she didn't do it with like a grin or a smile on her face. She wasn't doing it because she thought it would be great TV,
Starting point is 00:43:51 even though I'm sure she didn't know it was going to be great TV. She did it out of, like, I think it felt very much like her. Is that her or is this just a moment? She was so angry that she had to do something. No, I think she's like, I think she was angry for sure. And I think she was also like, I love her. She's just very much herself. And I think, you know, she feels like she should say something.
Starting point is 00:44:16 She's going to say it. I loved it. actually texted her. I'm like, I love you so much with a bunch of laughing emojis. Because it was like one of those like iconic moments. So good. Then like knew it too, you know? Like he like smiled and was kind of like, uh-huh. Yeah, he knew. He has no, he has, there's nothing in his mind that doesn't know that he's almost messed this up. Here's a good part. We get them both next week. Yeah. For the episode. I think this is going to be hilarious and awesome to watch. We do see a preview. for what it looks like next week's really season or episode we obviously talked about the
Starting point is 00:44:55 compatibility test that the show is going to do with everybody it is not meant to break couples let's be clear but it is meant to help people pursue somebody that they might be more interested in than the person they're currently with that feels like chaos and that feels like it's going to be so hard for the person in it and so amazing to watch oh definitely that's the thing I feel like that's reality TV. It's like always so hard for the people in it, but it is fun to watch. And it's amazing that I am not the one there. That is the best part. You're like, it's not me. It's not me at all. We do see something interesting. Bailey seems to be breaking down in tears. Do you think this is because Jeremy shares with her, what he's been
Starting point is 00:45:42 kind of sharing with everybody else, is that he's actually interested in Susie? For sure. And I saw her getting upset, like, when Brian was talking to her. And it seemed like Brian said something that, like, made her angry. And I don't know if it was that because I think she kind of said something back to Brian, if I'm remembering right. And it kind of shows everyone, I feel like the guys are going to take Jeremy's side, probably because most of them are, like, closer with Jeremy from, like, the vibe I'm getting. So we'll see. Kind of looks like Brian's going to go down.
Starting point is 00:46:17 It does. Brian says actually a really great line. He says, the water is heating up here in paradise and I'm the lobster. I think that is going to be very true for this next episode. It was a great preview. It does keep me excited for the next episode. Daisy, is there anything we didn't cover about this episode that you wanted to before we close out? No, I'm just excited for next week. And I think it'll be good. I feel like now it's getting like more interesting. I love how they're doing like the little like the change up with the editing and stuff um so I guess we're getting used to it I am I'm curious like what the bachelor is going to be like
Starting point is 00:47:01 and like the Golden Bachelor like are they going to do like a similar vibe or because I feel like to change up like it somehow so I guess we'll see I think they will it's going to be fun to watch I am more leaning it is getting more interesting for me.
Starting point is 00:47:20 This episode kind of got me into it where I'm like, I'm excited to see next week. And I haven't yet been there with Paradise this season, but at the end of this episode. And here's the brutal, evil side of me coming out. I'm excited to see what happens next week because I want to see what drama unfolds. As you said, I don't have to be there.
Starting point is 00:47:40 They chose it. And I want to see what relationships break and how people respond. And I don't know why. but I love watching it. Yeah, I do too. I think also going like through, I mean, not Paradise,
Starting point is 00:47:52 but being on The Bachelor and like knowing kind of how things work and how intense it is when you're there, I'm like, this is going to be good. It's going to be great. Well, Daisy, thank you for joining us today. Again, we had Daisy Kent with us, co-hosting the Almost Famous podcast.
