I'm the director of the men's clinic at UCLA, and I want to tell you about my new podcast called The Mail Room. And I'm Jordan, the show's producer. And like most guys, I haven't been to the doctor in way too long. I'll be asking the questions we probably should be asking, but aren't.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Every week, we're breaking down the world of men's health from testosterone and fitness to diets and fertility. We'll talk science without the jargon and get your real answers to the stuff you actually wonder about. So check out the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. What up, y'all?
Starting point is 00:02:07 It's your boy, Kevin on stage. I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Moment, where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends, people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures. What did they mess up on? What is their heartbreak? And what did they learn from it? I got judged horribly.
Starting point is 00:02:27 The judges were like, you're trash. I don't know how you got on the show. Check out Not My Best Moment with me, Kepp on stage on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there, everybody, and welcome to I do part two, the podcast. If you got Love Right the first time around, this is not the podcast for you. I am one of your host, T.J. Holmes, alongside my dear lovely Amy Roboc, and this will be the last time you hear my voice in this podcast. Because I'm sitting here with two very, excuse me, one, two, three, four, five very strong-willed women. So, signing off, T.J. Holmes.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Oh, that's so funny. Yes. No, we have our favorite people from our I do part two. family right now. So we have Kelly, Jen, Susan, and Kathy. And y'all are, we're all here together in Los Angeles. And it's like a reunion here. We're having a blast. But we have some very deep questions. Are you guys in a mood or in a, oh yeah, you vibe it now to get deep with us? The deeper the better. Yes. Go away. Okay. Hey. Oh my God. Can you set the scene for everybody? No, you all, we are sitting in a small hotel room in Brentwood, California. We are sitting around. There is an empty vodka red bull that Kathy's been drinking.
Starting point is 00:04:02 There's a mimosa over here in Susan's hand. Yeah. I like drinking. Right, exactly. We're the two news. They got Amy Roboc sitting on T.J. Holmes' lap with her big, her big, huge engagement rate. Yeah. I'm not like it.
Starting point is 00:04:19 It is so gorgeous. It is yellow, it is a yellow sapphire. It's a yellow sapphire. A yellow sapphire. I mean, can I just say, it's huge. I have a sapphire ring on that is chips. Let me just say. I really, but I don't feel bad for you.
Starting point is 00:04:32 It is a gorgeous. He did a great job. He did a great job. He did a great job. I said to him this is how you do part two. It's Mamosa yellow. Yeah, that's kind of how I look at it. That's love.
Starting point is 00:04:44 All right. So look, we have actually talked about this a lot. We were best friends for years and years and years before anything became romantic. Should you value being best friends or should you value chemistry? in a relationship. Well, if it's best friends, Susan and I are about to get engaged. Just come out now,
Starting point is 00:05:03 you're like, it sucks what's happening. I think they're both really important. I think you can, I think you don't have to be best friends first, but I think it's great if you are, and I think if you can develop into best friends, even better.
Starting point is 00:05:18 But I think chemistry, chemistry is super important. You cannot deny it. I mean, I think when you're younger, it's really important to be best friends because you're going to be cultivating this life. But, like, I'm 57 years old. I want chemistry.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I want fire. I want passion. I want fun. Excuse me. Excuse me. Yeah, I'm just saying. I'm just giving you my list. I don't think there's an age, dear Santa.
Starting point is 00:05:42 There's no age limit. I will tell you guys, I did not have chemistry with my husband at all. There was no passion for me. I think for him there was. I'm just being honest. Like, we're married now 26 years. He was so persistent. And I, you know, I always said, like,
Starting point is 00:05:55 The only thing I care about, I don't give a shit, he doesn't have to be gorgeous, he doesn't have to be rich, he doesn't have to be, I just want him tall because I always feel like a big girl. I'm sorry, wait a minute. You're not a big girl. You gave up money and passion for height? Well, I did if you, well, if you think that, I'm sorry,
Starting point is 00:06:14 I'm going to tell you. She wanted to height in the family. I'm going to tell you. So, so, right. So what I actually, I actually didn't care about height, my husband is five, six. So wait, that is, very quiet, very quiet. But I did.
Starting point is 00:06:26 I thought I wanted tall, too. But I'm saying, I was from the first second I saw him, I was like, not so much. And I mean, he didn't feel like I did. I said to him once, there's just no spark here. There's just nothing. Were you married when you said that? No, I wasn't married. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:45 No, because I did. No, because I did. I grew. I mean, I honestly, I loved him so much. And then at one point, he was like, I can't do this anymore. And I'm like, whoa. Wait a second. I love you.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Where are you going? Oh, that's so sweet. No, not necessarily like a princess. He does, but not like. I saw you, Dolce. I was there when you buy that dress. It's not, I just love him. I just respect him.
Starting point is 00:07:08 I love him. I mean, we're on our part two as well. We were separated for like a year and a half. But yeah, I just, it didn't start for me with chemistry. Wow. Yeah. What is it necessary? Do you guys have chemistry or friendship?
Starting point is 00:07:20 I don't know if she's wrapped around me in the way. I mean, I'm going to have a chemistry. You know what? I think we didn't recognize it or acknowledge it because we were not in a position to even consider the other as a romantic partner. But there was always a spark. And I will say there were always rumors that something was going on between us. When they were like, absolutely not, we're just friends. I will say he was the person wherever, like, groups would gather, journalists, I would seek him out.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And we'd see each other across the room and we'd like, where are you? And we would always end up together hanging out, laughing, having a blast. So for me, when you ask if there's chemistry, I met my husband when I was 18 years old, my now deceased husband, and I looked across the room, we locked eyes, and I looked at my sweetmate standing next to me. I said, you see that guy over there? She said, yeah, I said, I'm going to marry him. And I did, 18 months later, there was just, we locked eyes, and I just felt it.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I know that sounds crazy, but we were married almost 46 years. There was just something about it, but we weren't best friends, and I'll be able. honest, we were never best friends. Oh, wow. It's 5.23 p.m. One of your kids is asking for a snack. And me, Roy Scoville, comedian, as we celebrate the amazing creativity of the world's dumbest criminals. We'll look into some of the silliest ways folks have broken the laws. Honestly, it feels more like a high-level
Starting point is 00:10:09 prank than a crime. Who catfishes a city? And meets some memorable anti-heroes. There are thousands of angry, horny monkeys. Clap, if you think, she's a witch. And it freaks you out. Now, he has x-ray vision. How could I not follow him?
Starting point is 00:10:23 Honestly, I got to follow him. He can see right through me. Listen to Crimless on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Dad had the strong belief that the devil was attacking us. Two brothers, one devout household, two radically different paths. Gabe Ortiz became one of the highest-ranking law enforcement officers in Texas. 32 years, total law enforcement experience. I'm the director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health. And I want to tell you about my new podcast called The Mailroom. And I'm Jordan, the show's producer. And like a lot of guys,
Starting point is 00:12:20 I haven't been to the doctor in many years. I'll be asking the questions we probably should be asking, but aren't. Because guys usually don't go to the doctor unless a piece of their face is hanging off or they've broken a bone. Depends which bone. Well, that's true. Every week, we're breaking down the unique world of men's health, from testosterone and fitness to diets and fertility, and things that happen in the bedroom. You mean sleep? Yeah, something like that, Jordan.
Starting point is 00:12:46 We'll talk science without the jargon and get you real answers to the stuff you actually. actually wonder about. It's going to be fun, whether you're 27, 97, or somewhere in between. Men's Health is about more than six packs and supplements. It's about energy, confidence, and connection. We don't just want you to live longer. We want you to live better. So check out the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. Would you tell your kids that it was so important in the chemistry now that you've lived and learned, would you say you have to have it off the bat?
Starting point is 00:13:25 For me, my kids, so my son got divorced after a three-year marriage, and now he's married to the woman of his dreams. And I think when he met her, the chemistry was immediate. My daughter, when she met her husband, she was like, I'm not interested in all
Starting point is 00:13:42 in this guy, and by the end of the afternoon, they were locked in. So I don't know. I think for everyone it's different. I think ideally, I would love to have my best friend, have it grow from best friend to her. I think that would be my dream. But at this point, I'll take a guy who's above ground. Just above ground.
Starting point is 00:14:01 That's the baseline. So, you know, my only husband, I was very young when I met him. I was 19. And he was like a Neanderthal. He like pulled me by my hair and he was like, she's going to be mine. And I happen to look like his second wife. So we had that in common. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:14:18 But he was very much like, Yeah, it was kind of like the persistent. I mean, you know, I mean, did I ever think I would marry, like, a shorter, curly-haired Frenchman? Like, I'm from Brockford, Illinois. Like, no, I was thinking athlete. I was thinking, like, you know. Right. Some, maybe one of drummer from Treat, trick, something like that.
Starting point is 00:14:36 You know, those kind of vibes. The drummer, Robin Zander, baby. Yeah, hello. Zambonander, Bunny Carls, you know, any of those guys. So, there's a laundry list. But, yeah, I was not thinking that, like, a French guy that was with curly hair who was, like, literally, like, you mind now. I was like, is that French? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:14:53 For me, now it's different than it was. I don't care if a man is overweight or not tall enough. I do prefer a tall man. So did I. But it's different now because I'm not looking to build a family. I'm not looking for my first house in the white picket fence. I'm looking for my friend, the guy that I'm going to get old with and that still makes me laugh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:18 And sex is important. Okay, but Susan, there's, I'm going to take issue. I think at our age, we're going to take issue. Wait, Susan, no matter what, you still have to build a life for the guy. You know, and so whether it's long distance, I have left. Where are you going? I'm sorry. I got 30 years left in May.
Starting point is 00:15:41 I'm like, hello. I just think it's, I think that we overplace sometimes the idea that, you know, our children, both of our children are grown and they're gone and they have their own families. But still, when you're looking for that partner, you want someone where you have the same values. Yes, you want to...
Starting point is 00:15:59 I honestly, I think that that's the... I don't know about the same exact values, but I really like my husband. I forget about the fact that I love him. Like, I really like him. So I think you just nailed it for me. Like, that has been, like, like and respect. Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:13 For two things that I wasn't really considering when I was younger and I realized that is what ended up biting me in the ass because if you don't like the person you're with and if you don't respect how they operate in the world, you are doomed and you can try whatever and it doesn't work. And so this has been amazing to actually have a friend who you like, who you respect and also have a spark. Yes. But you all can't have the perfect thing. Exactly. But you know, I feel like we said about liking respect and I think what happens with a lot of people in relationships
Starting point is 00:16:46 as they have these expectations of what this person could be is going to be. We were just talking about this. You can make them become. I know they can be this. I know they're going to be like that. I'm not who people think I am.
Starting point is 00:17:00 I am exactly who I am. I don't make any, I'm not going to sit here and apologize for who I am or what I do or how I make money or the businesses that I do or how I raise my kids. Like, I've done the best that I can. This is who I am.
Starting point is 00:17:12 So you cannot change me. Right. You can embrace me. You can move me in a direction that can help me. But you can't, right, right. We just talked about this in the car. Show me who you are. Don't tell me who you are.
Starting point is 00:17:25 You will show me who you are by our interactions. You can tell me you're a man of integrity. You're a great parent. You're this, you're that. I'm going to watch. You're going to show me who you are. And that's all I'm going to judge you. So hearing all of us, what are the hopes of us?
Starting point is 00:17:41 Yeah. Wait, you guys, can I just say something? I just thought that was so interesting what you guys just said because my part one, because we did separate for a year and a half and ended up getting back together. But I think during part one, I wanted him to change. And I wanted him, so my husband is an introvert. He's kind of cerebral. And we would go out with other couples. And I would, and I just wouldn't, he just wouldn't engage. And it would make me furious. And now, after all of these years, I couldn't give two sh-hs. It just gives me more room to talk. Like, that's how to shine and he
Starting point is 00:18:18 or even if he doesn't, even if he doesn't, like I just don't care. I like him so much, you know? So the interesting thing is that, like, for me, the role is reversed because I'm, I am just like watching, I mean, I have a twin brother. I was raised with a male all my life. So I understand how they move, they walk, they talk, everything. And I embrace all of that. So I don't have this like, what's the guy going to do? How is he going to react? Because I have a twin brother. Yeah. I have the opposite problem. Guys are always like, well, are you like this?
Starting point is 00:18:47 Are you going to be like that? And I'm the one that they're putting all the expectations on. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Like, all I want to do is just be in a healthy, happy, loving environment where I can shine and do well. That's all. You know, where are you and you're dating? Because the last time we talked to you, there was something going on. I don't want to.
Starting point is 00:19:09 There was, is that something still going on from months? ago it is alive and breathing look at her look at her smile in the same city as you no okay this is this is a guy right relationship he's like yeah that guy all right he's the guy he's so great and he has his own life beautiful kids great ex-wife like everyone he's in a little a little bit further away yeah yeah yeah A couple of states away, but he's not that far. It's like a couple hours away. And, you know, we see each other a lot.
Starting point is 00:19:48 And he's a really, he's very protective of me without being stifling. I try to push me. Like he's not like, Kelly, be better. He's just like, how are you? You're great today. Everything's going to be great for you. Like, I've never had that. I've had like, right.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Part two, baby. That comes with part two. So we'll see. I just realized I'm the only one here who does not have a part two. Yeah. What do you mean? I said yet. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Yeah. Yeah. Do you think that a relationship and even a marriage can survive if you just love each other enough? Does it need more than love? Because people, that's always a big question, is just loving someone enough to get through the tough times. You answered it. You need respect. I think so, too.
Starting point is 00:20:31 That you have to respect. The person has to have integrity. Love is not enough. Love goes away. It's a feeling that can come and go. And if you don't, I don't think if you don't have the foundation of like and respect. Will you stop looking at me with those daggers?
Starting point is 00:20:47 Why is there a look going on between the two of you? Oh. So, Amy, so I was honest and I have never been in love before. Say it again. I have loved people, but I've never been in love. I've never been like, oh, my God, like I'm actually like in love with someone. Wait, how do you know that? And what is the measure?
Starting point is 00:21:11 Is it different for every one? I don't know what the actual, what it is. I don't know what the box is to check off. It's like, okay, now you're in love. Like, I don't know what button to push. I don't know what that is. I just know the feeling of, like, how I can care for someone, nurture them, you know, be there for them. But I'm, I don't, I've never had that feeling.
Starting point is 00:21:33 So honest, Cal. That is like, I, that person gives me butterfly or. I have the opposite problem. He's like, look at me. He was like, look at me. He's like, look at me over here. I know, but I'm telling you we can happen. Every time, but I've questioned it myself.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Have I really ever been in love? I'm a nurturing person. I'm a very, I'm Kelly and Miss Torres. But I'm a very nurturing person. So I think people misconstrue my nurturing for love. But it's not. Like, I may be loving towards you, but I'm not in love with you. Being a parent is basically a juggling act, dinner, hockey practice, homework, a last-minute science project, and someone's always, always shouting for you from another room.
Starting point is 00:22:24 So yeah, I'll take any shortcuts that actually works, and that's why I'm all in on Hello Fresh. Fresh ingredients, super easy recipes, and over 80 options every week, so everyone eats. No one complains, and I get to feel like I've got it all together, at least for dinner. But I'm sure you've had that feeling where your heart races, you can't be waiting for them to call or you're together. And no?
Starting point is 00:27:22 Butterfly. Not really. So, I mean, I'm scared for that. I was like, they're great. They're so nice. But I've also, you know, I've been doing so many jobs and providing for so long. But I feel like in some ways, I'm like that big. businessman that's like all of a sudden he's like made the money and has all and now he's like
Starting point is 00:27:38 now I want my life like I've just been working like an animal for so long so I've never been taking the time I've never like reflected back and been like that person gave me those feelings because I wasn't even available for them I was a totally emotionally unavailable you know what it's so interesting you say that because I would say up until now yes I have been married to my job my job and my career was my passion. And so it allowed me to be in relationships and stay in them because my passions and my love was being met at work.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Is that if that makes any sense? And this is the person, I feel like a teenager. And it's, I'm like, this is what people have felt. Like, oh my God, when it happens, you recognize that it's never happened before. And so that has been an interesting experience for me just to go through emotions that sometimes I think a lot of people
Starting point is 00:28:29 luckily have in their teens or their early 20s. Now I know this is all new. I remember my daughter saying to me, she would meet someone and just, she would go, Mom, I met my husband tonight. Now, for some of us, obviously, that worked out. For Rachel, in that case, you've met about 17 husbands. Yeah, but let me just say, I'm also, not only single one here, I'm also the only widow here. And I will say that the biggest lesson I have learned, and I'm admitting this right here publicly, I tried to change my husband.
Starting point is 00:29:05 My husband was also an introvert. He was also very cerebral. And because I have never met a stranger, it was hard when we would go to cocktail parties. I have to carry all the load. But now, if he were back, now I realize what a gift it was. What a gift it was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:24 So. You even said to me recently that, that's something that you would change if you find love again. And that's exactly. So I have learned it the hardest way possible that if I get my second chance at love, that guy's going to get such a new improve me. When, when, when, when, when. So, you know, you learn things.
Starting point is 00:29:48 And you learn it by divorce. You learn it by any kind of loss. When they say every relationship, you learn a lesson, you do. sometimes some people don't learn though I keep repeating the same mistake I mean I fall fast and hard and it's fun and it's exciting and six to nine months later
Starting point is 00:30:09 you start looking at the real picture going what did I do but you guys even if this is not you're not in a relationship right now like it's still your part two like I don't feel like you had a part one like you're living your part two whether or not you're in love look at the experience or you both
Starting point is 00:30:25 Like me, I feel like you got to reinvent yourself at an age in your life like not a lot of people do and you're hosting this podcast and you're still. And grateful for that. Truly grateful for that. Also, too, to your point, like, when you're like, when you are a single mother and you're providing, it's like you're not in your feelings. Even though I was on housewives and everyone was asking about talking to me about their feelings, I'm like, what are you talking about? I have no idea. I'm like, I'm sorry. What have time for feelings?
Starting point is 00:30:53 I'm like, what do you have time for your feelings? And your feelings or my own feelings. I'm like, you're speaking. I have a carpool in 10 minutes. I know. I was like, I'm going to miss the basketball. Yeah. Like, what?
Starting point is 00:31:04 I want to ask you all because we're going to wrap this up, but I think this is something that a lot of people try to decide the level of importance. How important is chemistry in the bedroom? How important is that in a relationship? So important. Sometimes, and people at our age can't perform. So you find. No, they can.
Starting point is 00:31:25 No. Trust me, some men, and you find other ways as long as they're open to. What is so wrong with that? It is 2025, Kathy. Yeah, Kathy. There's other ways. Say something, Kathy. I don't mean extra.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Something. Here's what I have to say. Sex is important at any age, but here's what I'm saying. Somebody can be great in bed, fabulous in bed. I've slept with great guys in bed. Am I with them? No. That, to me, is not the be-all and end-all.
Starting point is 00:31:57 The respect, the kindness, a good person, that is going to far outlive. Did you hear her questions? Yes, what was the question? My question was, how important is chemistry in the medicine? I also think it, for me, it used to be. I'm not as sexual as I used to be. I'm really not. I mean, I'm, yeah, but I don't, it's not as important.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I mean, back in the day, it was, yeah, and I hope for all of you that you look at me like I'm crazy. I know we're the same age. I know. It's just, I don't have the same sex drive. It's very important to me. Yeah. Like very important.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Thank you. Very important. Not the only one. I mean, it was, it was, but it wasn't for me before. Here's the thing. And it is now. Here's the thing, guys. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:32:40 We're all group of women here and one fabulous man. It's like, thank you. I'm T.J. Holmes, by the way, if you'll have heard my boys in a while. Is it? My relationship is not sex dependent. I think that's the important fact here that if you and your husband have a great relationship,
Starting point is 00:32:58 it doesn't matter for you and your husband. That's not the most driving force in your relationship, where some other people, sex, if you're not having great sex, you're out. I think it's depends on the relationship. It's not, we still enjoy it, but it's not like we're not depending.
Starting point is 00:33:14 It's not keeping what's holding us together, right? You're not dependent on it for the success of your relationship. Hey, it is always fun. We need to do this more often. And catch off with all of you wonderful ladies. And we're excited to have some fun at Jingle Ball. Which is what we're about to go do. So, by the way, everyone who's listening,
