Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Hey, I'm Diana Maria Riva, and on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be?
I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS.
Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to fupas to scheduling sex.
Wait, what sex?
Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes?

This is the Ben and Ashley I
Almost Famous Podcast with IHartRadio.
Hey everyone. It is Ashley
and it is Ben and we're back together.
Thank goodness. It's been a crazy couple
weeks for the two of us. We haven't been able to
meet up and it's been sad and i feel like on the on the verge of a mental breakdown then
no we got to talk this through i know you've had a busy week lorne and i are going to break down
uh you and jared on watch what happens live as well as this week's real housewives of road
Island.
Things were, obviously, we broke down last night's episode.
It's out now.
You can go listen to it with the big fight.
Ashley, what is going on in your life that feels like things are swirling?
It's really hard to be apparent while going through all of this.
And now we can say filming for season two, bracing for that filming, I can't do it all
myself anymore.
Okay.
It's tough.
It is.
I mean, I think the big question was, do you regret filming this?
Or is this like, I mean, this is becoming something that you're going to be known for,
maybe more than even your time on The Bachelor here soon?
Oh, my gosh.
I don't think so.
I don't know that I'll ever have that lore shadowed over, you know?
I feel like everybody just, I think that was me at my finest reality TV.
I'm a totally different person emotionally now.
I only stressed out about romance.
I only got into fights over guys.
I don't get triggered enough by friend drama, I suppose,
because it's just like not worth it.
It's just like roll off my shoulder.
Yeah, you can go back home to your like peaceful, loving house and separate.
That's getting older too.
It's getting older for sure. It's older, perspective, and then having the experience. Everything is just less, I'm less ignited.
Well, I know you mentioning that you are looking to hire an assistant will flood our DMs with, hey, connecting with Ashley.
You need to have social media or broadcasting background. I need somebody who can shoot and edit very well.
Big things are changing in Ashley's life.
Obviously, the real housewives of Rhode Island is getting ready to film season two.
Season one is still airing, and we are breaking it down here on the Almost Famous podcast.
Ashley is a beloved participant in the Bravo series.
But here's the fun part, I think, about Almost Famous,
is we also get you the behind the scenes right here,
where you're getting prepped to continue on with a chance.
chapter of filming that we know is a time commitment. And we know will be a time commitment. It's
pretty much like a 12-month job. It is. I mean, you get the filming and then it airs and you have
all the stuff that comes with it airing. But it's been a huge success. And we're still always
very proud of our Ashley while she... You're so sweet. Begins again. And Lauren's crushing it over
there, breaking it down. She's tremendous at it.
Thank goodness.
She gets all the insight for me.
It's like every time I come home from filming,
every time there's a headline,
you've got to call Lauren,
because Drid gets anxious.
He does not want to hear about the drama.
He really,
it just gives him anxiety,
and he's not helpful about it.
Like, if people think that I'm nice on the show,
if I come to Jared with like a piece of,
like, ooh, look at this shade.
He'll be like, oh, that's fine.
And I'm like, babe, babe.
So anyway, I am so grateful for everything.
It's been really fun watching the show and like hearing all the feedback and doing all the press and stuff like that's been, that's been great.
So anyway, Ben, yeah, let's do it.
Let's talk about the ABC lineup.
Here we go.
ABC fall, 26 schedule was announced.
No Bachelor franchise series at all, like none of them.
Golden, Bachelorette, Bachelor.
the quote is high potential and shifting gears held held for mid-season with the rookie and Will Trent.
So here's what I'm seeing, though, Ashley.
There's no even reality coming in.
The only reality is Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night.
This is for the fall.
And then there's Shark Tank if you call that reality.
Do you consider Shark Tank and like Celebrity Jeopardy reality?
I think that's more game show
I'm Shark Take maybe
No game show
Not like
I mean it might fall into the category
But not as like we're thinking
We're a reality
Where you'd fall
The Love Islands bachelors
Yeah
All the perfect man
Like that's
Yeah so
It's an interesting lineup
For sure
Obviously the switch up I think
From this Ashley
Is due to this bachelorette season
They put so much into it
We're seeing some of the ripple effect
and repercussions of it not airing.
And, you know, it was not more than a month ago when they did the Hulu thing that they kind of were hinting at,
hey, this, the Bachelorette might still come about, but right now we're getting nothing from it.
And the golden is nowhere to be found.
And I know we have some quotes on that.
Okay.
I don't think that's going to come back ever.
That's just my thought.
I don't think it's going to come back.
Mel tanked it that fast.
He did.
You're saying like literally one season and they're like, hey, this will never work?
I don't know.
I don't know.
It also honestly fell off with Joan.
Like it just, it went from Gary at a high to Joan at a medium to Mel at a very low.
So I don't know.
But this is the quote.
It said we've had to take a look at just managing the franchise properly.
These shows have an enormous fan base.
So we're thrilled to be able.
We were so thrilled.
the year that we were able to launch Golden Bachelor
and have it stand out that fall season the way that it did.
But I think that the usual cadence
that we'd like to find ourselves in
is really the flagship series in mid-season,
aka Bachelor in January,
and then having some summer edition,
which we've already locked in for Bachelor in Paradise next season.
So this is more of a return to a steady state of the franchise.
I am still not convinced that there will be no Taylor-Frank-Paul season.
airing on Hulu because that is still circulating that could happen in July or August.
And Taylor, who I'm sure you just talked about a little bit last week, has been teasing things
on her Instagram about being with her final guy.
Like saying like, hey, so-and-so, can you come and fix this for me?
I missed it. I've never seen this.
Is this a headline we're going to break down?
because if so, I mean, it feels like one.
I mean, it is for me.
Yeah, she, I guess, like, he's good at fixing things.
And she posted his story last week.
And it was like, hey, at him.
I guess I won't say his name.
Can you come over and fix this?
And that was in the midst of people saying that,
that, like, I think it was, it was Des Moines again,
saying that it could be Hulu Air in the summer.
She posted clips with Shane.
Shane.
which one's Shane
Shane
She was her other two
She just posted random clips
Oh Shane was her final guy
Her second final guy
Yeah this is the runner up
Oh she posted clips with him
Wait that's strange
I hear that she's trying to reconcile things
With the guy that she picks
If she ends up with a guy that she picks
At least for a while
And we don't even get to see this season
But he's forgiven her for all these things
It's like wait
Should we
What should we do?
What should we do? I think that's the big question everybody's asking right now, Ashley, is what should we do?
Hey, switching gears a little bit. Obviously, you can go online and kind of see ABC's fall lineup. We're not going to go through them all. I do see Scrubs on there. So Scrubs is back. Abbot Elementary is a favorite in this household. We do love it. And then football season will kick off again. Ashley, the only thing I have about the question of is what is the wonderful world of Disney now?
I mean, I know what it used to be, but what is it now?
I think it's just a regular movie.
It's a Disney movie that they put in that slot.
Oh, that's sweet.
Yeah.
The one thing we should mention before we wrap up this headline is that casting is currently open for The Bachelor.
They're looking, and Bachelorette.
They're looking for both single men and women.
I've always thought it was like a rolling application where they had people in their back pocket.
But I guess like now it's more of an official thing.
Yeah, this isn't really even a thing to me because there's never not casting.
I remember having guys on my season of The Bachelorette that were casted four years previously
and just happened to be in a relationship and they couldn't come on.
And then they found themselves single and they reached back out to the casting director.
And then they came on Caitlin's season.
I think it's always open.
I never knew it not to be open.
I mean, I, when I applied, it was months before the show aired.
So, and they called me right away, the casting director.
Well, me, not right away, nine months later.
Our producer, Heather, is saying that it's actually just The Bachelor, which now I'm interested,
because they said that they're currently opening for casting single men and women.
Yeah, single men and women, but they're not saying actively, like, we're looking for the next Bachelorette.
remember because only the bachelor has been greenlit so that's be the next bachelor
is what all the casting stuff says i remember when they used to like go on tour and it would be like
at a casino and be like bachelor casting at blah blah you'd have radio announcements and all that
and that's where i went to go meet with casting producers like they saw my tape and then they're like
can you meet us at the open casting call in maryland see that's when i applied was that you know my story was
the lady came down and said, cool, you go downtown Denver to the bachelor casting call with me.
And I was like, no, we'll not do that. But she said, if we sit upstairs and sign you up online,
would you like go through with it? And I said, yeah, I'd do that.
Okay. So you were like, yeah, if they're already interested based on my application, I'll go
and meet with them. Well, no, I'm not going to, I'm not going to wait in line. And I don't want to be,
really, I was embarrassed. I was like, I don't want to be seen standing in line with a bunch of people.
That seems like awkward.
Also, it makes you seem too easy to get.
Yeah, see, that I was playing the game.
See, they escorted me.
They were like, okay, they're like, there was all these people just ran them up.
And then they were like, hey, Ashley, it's so-and-so, the one that you talk to on the phone.
Just sit here, sit tight.
We'll escort you to like the place we need you to be at the time.
So it was like, I was getting, I felt really good about myself getting VIP treatment when all these other people were just, you know,
I'll fill a form.
Yeah.
I didn't want them to think I didn't have a job either.
Anyways, a lot of Bachelor stars ended up going to the ACMs.
Hannah Godwin is one of those.
I believe Hannah Godwin is getting ready to be on a new reality show.
We just broke that down last week.
We have a whole list of people that were there, Ashley.
The ACMs are obviously a big deal.
Go ahead and tell us all about who slayed the red carpet from the,
The Bachelor.
Hannah's dress is absolutely unreal.
It's so pretty.
It's see-through, which is apparently very much on trend right now.
It's totally bedazzled.
But it to me doesn't look skanky.
You know what I mean?
It's a really classy see-through dress.
Really, really beautiful.
And she was amongst Tyler Cameron, who I feel like always shows up to something country-related.
He just, like, has that vibe.
And then Maria Georges, is that how we say Maria's last name?
Yeah.
Gorgas, Georgia.
Georgia.
It's okay.
Daisy Kent was also there.
Lots of Bachelor come out for the ACMs because I just feel like a Bachelor.
It's an ABC thing, but also it's a, just feel like the same demographic country music and Bachelor.
We always have country music stars.
It's like the, it's, it's middle America.
Yeah.
The thing about Maria, don't we think that Marie is an interesting figure.
I just haven't heard.
heard much from her exactly not to be she but where has she been i thought that she thought that she was
too good for everything and that she didn't need the bachelor and she didn't need to go on paradise and such
but i feel like everybody who thinks like i have my shining at a moment and i don't need the show anymore
it's not always the best move if you do want to continue down that entertainment rabbit hole yeah i can't
think of anybody at the top of my head that has been a huge contestant and then not gone on paradise
and the flame has stayed lit for a long time.
There's maybe a few.
Tyler Cameron would probably be one of those examples.
Tyler is like maybe the total exemption to the rule.
Yeah, but he went out and dated Gigi, which blew him up for a while.
Yeah.
You know, that helped.
Yeah.
Amazon brings together housewives and Vanderpunt rules and Bachelorette
alums for a reality retreat.
We kind of teased this a few weeks ago that this was happening.
I think they allowed the Bachelor people to talk about it.
But now we're getting more info.
And we're seeing exactly, we're going to see how these dynamics work in this new show.
They brought in some big names from The Bachelor.
And I think, especially when it comes to one of them,
it had to be the right show for these names to agree to.
I'm excited to see if this was an uplifting thing.
show if this is a like a vulnerable show so ashley tell us uh everything we need to know about this
show because we know quite a bit now it's an all-star cast it's going to be on amazon it's called
reality retreat kately bristow's on it i'm going to see katelyn tomorrow it'll be the first time i see her
since she's filmed this and it's just a crazy cast of all women so it has keny more from house
Pleasant Atlanta, Margaret Joseph's, New Jersey, Kim Zolziak, Atlanta.
Then it has selling sunsets, Christine Quinn, Vanderpump Rules, and the Valley Star,
Brittany Cartwright. I saw her at the Kentucky Derby. Probably should have asked her about this,
but it wasn't, I didn't even think I knew that this was a thing. Then Brexton family values,
Tamar Braxton, and then when it comes to Bachelor, we have Caitlin Bristow, Jen Tran, and then
Julie and Savannah, Chris Lee, and Holary of Baldwin. Like, it's a really big,
cast of reality TV women. It's set in a tropical location and it's going to follow a group of
women whose lives have been the spotlight. They've made the spotlight has made them icons, villains,
tabloid fixtures. Now they're going to be removed from their comfort zones and embark on an
immersive experience centered on healing, accountability, and transformation. They're going to do wellness
rituals. They're going to have unfiltered truth-telling exercises and emotionally charged confrontations.
Goodness gracious, I'm like a little bit stressed.
There will be a wellness director.
This kind of sounds like the nine perfect strangers show Nicole Kidman was in,
but like these are nine perfect reality stars.
It's big personalities for this new show.
I would have to assume though, Ashley,
that for the people that they got there,
like there was some clarity on what this exactly was
and what it was going to be and what they're trying to get out of it,
And there's zero chance, Ashley, in my mind that Caitlin Bristow would agree to go on a show that she thought could backfire on her at this point in her career.
She's past that.
So I have to imagine that there was clarity on what the show was, that it was supposed to be helpful and beneficial, that it was going to be real.
I mean, we know that Caitlin is definitely into self-help and figuring out whatever she could do to better herself.
along the way. So I'm not as concerned. Obviously, we are very protective of Caitlin here,
but honest about who she is. And we know that Caitlin is a big personality. So I would just say,
I think this show will be an enjoyable watch, but I do believe there's going to be a lot of
tears. Think about the format. So many tears, so many tears. Caitlin is really open about
her therapy and having gone on these retreats before.
So she probably feels like this is actually already a comfort zone, even though they're saying
they're taking you out of a comfort zone.
It's like kind of maybe something she's already pretty comfortable with.
It's super interesting that Caitlin hasn't done anything like traitors or she didn't see what
the stars, but she hasn't done like special forces or anything.
But she decided to do this.
I'm going to have to ask her tomorrow what made her say that this would be, you know,
one of like the
collaboration
what would it be like it's an all-star cast
all-star reality cast show to do
she's probably going to be like
there's a lot of money yeah
I'm assuming that will be one of the outcomes
it will be really
it'll be really fun to watch
and it will be airing Ashley when
can you give us those dates
it will be airing
I think we have a little bit of time
I think it's next year

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is.
Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is.
Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America,
there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War.
To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard.
Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.
If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is,
you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those
things, the fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something
to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies.

Keith Giamanka seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly, he became someone else,
a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
No. I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success.
Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever
because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue.

Well, speaking of people that were on this show, Jen Tran feels very insecure, is her quote,
and reveals why she's more guarded after last relationship.
Super interesting.
We know it was with Sasha.
they broke up like six months ago, maybe a little bit more time flies.
She said in a new video that I'm currently in a very insecure place of my life.
It's so interesting because I used to love being vulnerable on here.
And I've stopped because there's a group of people on here that are actually rooting for my downfall, which is so crazy for me.
She said that there's just a certain group of people that are leaving mean comments.
And she confessed that that is why she doesn't really want to open up.
as much anymore. She said, I've never talked about this before, but it's a group of people that I'm
because I'm no longer with a certain person. And it feels like everything that I do is because
of this person and I truly can't be happy. Wait, are we talking about the person from the show?
I don't even know his name. No, she's, she's talking about there's a group of people online that
basically think that because she's not with him anymore, Sasha. Oh, Sasha. They don't even,
they keep like bullying you know putting her down said i've been meaning i my life had meaning
before there was a man in it and i will continue to be happy without a man in it no matter who it is like
sometimes people will say crazy things you know in the dms they'll be like you know you have to
be more respectful of your husband you should stop working so much and just like be with your
husband and stuff like you need to worship him on hand in foot and all la la people are like really
weird and old school like that sometimes so
that's wild i wonder what would happen if i told jess that tonight you need to
you need to serve me i do have that
Sasha has been posting a lot of videos with Janelle this is an actress who he i think
has been seeing and she's going through a divorce right now we don't really know if he's
100% seeing her but they've been spotted a bit okay speaking of love interest juliana who we
had, if you remember, she was with Grant Ellis for a short period of time from that season of
The Bachelor, which was the last season of The Bachelor to air, moves in with boyfriend Michael.
There's engagement rumors surrounding this.
Ashley, I just want to mention that when we had Juliana on the podcast a long time ago,
I mean, it's been months.
She kind of hinted that she was, you know, figuring things out.
But this is exciting for her.
We do think she was an incredible catch.
She got a really raw deal here from The Bachelor, moved on and found love successfully outside of it.
There are rumors online that there two are already engaged or even secretly married.
Wow.
I don't even know why this is a thing.
Like why you get secretly married?
Well, no.
Why are people speculating that they are married?
As we just mentioned, Ashley, I think people speculate.
a lot.
Okay.
So it's just like this one silly thing.
She said somebody, she was like, when you told, she wanted her to her him to propose in
Paris, right, basically.
Like they were going to Europe and she just wanted him to propose when they went on a trip.
And then they were also like, I don't know.
He called her wifey or something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He said on Instagram that they were.
were at Coachella.
It's a Coachella weekend with Wifee.
I'm like, okay.
I mean, that definitely sounds at least engaged.
Yeah, I mean, it's, but it could just be a nickname.
But I don't know.
Do you nickname somebody that you've been with for, say, six months?
Wifee, no.
No.
Sweet cheeks.
Yes.
So now I may, maybe I am believing these rumors.
And, okay, we know that she is very close to her family in Boston.
and that Grant was supposed to be moving to Boston.
And now here we see she's actually moving to New York for the boyfriend, quote, boyfriend.
She's going to be on the podcast very soon.
Caitlin Bristow just moved to New York City, Ashley.
Yeah, why would she move to New York?
I have no idea.
Why would she move to New York?
Be very confusing for me if, you know, she's moving to New York with the dogs for not a similar reason.
Like, Juliana at least has a reason.
she's moving there with a boyfriend yeah did you see what kaitland posted you know somebody named
katelyn one time said that she never wanted to post anything of any other man until she was like
deep into marriage and she posted something about the and there was a man's voice in it goodness gracious

All right
So I am not in the loop
With the Vanderpump
Dramas
But Mercedes you tried to hook up with
You didn't
Hook up with her
You tried to hook her up with someone
I was like
What?
Thank you for clarifying that action
Well when she recently
joined fellow Bachelor
Fan Favorites
charity, Dotten, Jess, Maria, Ariel, a whole bunch of others.
They were celebrating Doughton's 33rd birthday at the Vanderpump Villa.
And while there, she formed a connection with Marciano.
Now Mercedes is talking about it and what happened?
And she did this on the Happy Hour podcast.
She said, this is where I was at, okay?
No, no drink limits.
We're feeling good.
And I'm in the back corner of the hot tub.
I'm just not really connected with anyone, and I'm just looking around, and everyone's boot up,
and I'm like, well, what the heck? I need to boot up, too. And the only one left in this group
was Marciano. And I'm like, well, I guess we're locked in for the night. They also continue
to have a game of truth or dare. And the truth of the dare was like make out with someone
here or who if you had to make out with someone here who would it be and obviously she wants to say
somebody who was already taken so she said marciano so she said it was fun but the connection wasn't
serious so they just had like a fun rest of the night his name is marciano brunette yeah marciano brunette
i've never heard of him before i had to look this up marciano i've heard of him yeah they were
I thought the description here was describing his hair color.
Oh, I was going to say, oh, did he was like a fashion line?
Because he sounds like a designer name.
Like, it's Marciano because it's Marciano from gas.
Yeah, I've never heard of him.
So Marciano Brunette is somebody I need to pay attention to
because he is stealing the girl from my show
when I'm trying to hook her up with a single dude.
All right, that makes sense.
Ashley, that's all the headlines we have today.
Some big ones out there, a lot of Bachelor nation people stepping outside of the Bachelor world as the Bachelor takes a hiatus to do other projects, obviously.
We got Hannah Godwin on Celebrity Squig Games.
We've got Caitlin and Jen going on this new Amazon show.
We had the whole list of people who showed up to the Vanderpump Villa from the show.
And you, goodness gracious, you're leading the way on Real Housewives.
of Rhode Island. So a lot of Bachelor people taking advantage of their celebrity and sharing it
with other networks while the Bachelor is still trying to figure things out. If there was only a way
where The Bachelor could bring people back together again and get them back in their franchise
and their show on their network. Wouldn't that be nice? I just also want to make fun of you for a
second about Marciano thing because I know there's a lot of reality stars on our podcast that we
like chat about and the whole this the worlds are just so intermixed right now but he was actually the
one that got in trouble on um secret lives of Mormon wives he was the one I'm just I'm just
remembering this he was the one that like had like a sexual assault thing with one of the girls
come on Mercedes yeah come on Mercedes how do those people keep getting on TV Ashley that's my
question accused accused not guilty allegedly allegedly yes yes
Yes, yes, wants to clarify.
Yes.
He was apparently hooking up with another wife, you know, one of the wives, Jesse.
We're going to talk about this when we understand that one more.
That's not our world, okay?
Our world's just connected to those worlds.
It feels like it's more and more what I have to understand.
So many Venn diagrams.
I know.
For years, we broke down the Bachelor here at the Almost Famous podcast.
Now you're asking me to break down every.
every single reality show that exists and tie all these trends and knots and drama together.
No wonder you're spiraling, Ashley.
Yeah, I know, right.
So brutal out there right now.
You guys, I'm fine.
It's just all good things.
That's the thing.
Too much good things.
And that's not something to complain about.
I just need a helping hand.
All right.
We love you.
Thank you so much for being here.
Until next time,
I've been Ashley.
