This is the Almost Famous Podcast with IHartRadio.
Hey everybody.
Bob Gini here with a little bit famous.
Of course, part of the Almost Famous podcast.
And today I am a super producer to the stars,
Heather Mundy.
we are talking about Farmer wants a wife, episode four.
It is episode four.
Before we dive in, though, I just want to say we got quite a few comments and messages about
last week's episode about my square dancing debacle.
And if I was the only one who ever experienced that, you were not.
The answer is no.
A lot of people had to, somebody even commented that they had to do it in high school,
which actually sounds even more traumatizing than junior high when I had to do it.
it. So thank you to our listeners out there who verified that I was not the only one in Southern
California who had to learn how to square dance in junior high and that they were traumatized by it as
well. So thanks for that. This episode, overall, before we dive into it, what were kind of some of
your general thoughts and feelings? And how are you feeling so far in the season? Well, let me say this
first and foremost. I'm so thankful people are listening to these. It looks like they're pretty
popular. So that's been pretty nice. Yeah, you know, I have to say, going into this episode,
the things I was the most excited about was going to be the square off with Carson, or is it
car, yeah, Carson, and then also kind of seeing, you know, what was going to take place throughout
the episode. But, you know, I will say this, when I was the bachelor, the biggest fear
of being The Bachelor
was, oh my God, what if women
walk up and are like, hey, I'm out.
I was terrified of that.
And I think, you know, thankfully I didn't
experience it on my season, but I know a lot
of seasons that they have.
And people would be like, you know, I mean, I remember
watching it when it would happen, I'd think, oh,
God, that sucks, you know?
Yeah.
And I thought that was something that really
kind of stuck out with me in this episode
was how many people
were out.
Yeah.
Like, okay, I'm done.
I'm done.
Including our former bachelor, you know, contestant to the, you know, a millionth degree.
We're going to have to dive.
We're going to have to dive into all of that.
Well, I thought I missed something.
And all honesty, I was like, did I miss something?
You and me both.
She's tapping out, and it seems like this is the second part of a conversation I never saw the first part of.
Exactly.
Exactly.
So, yeah, let's, I guess, dive in.
Go ahead and kick us off as to where this episode starts.
Yes.
So the episode basically picks up where we left off, right?
On the previous, I don't even know where they're at.
They're at like a dance club or something.
And everybody's out there on the dance floor is bugging down and having a good time.
And it sort of kicks off with, I mean, if I'm wrong about how it started,
I felt like it started with people basically like going up and telling him,
telling the different farmers.
And first of all, I do love that they call each other like, hey, excuse me, farmer Brett.
Pardon me, farmer Braden.
It's like, you can just call it Brett, okay?
But it's like, you know, hey, excuse me, Bachelor Pop.
I get called that every day of my life to this day, but I wasn't being called that on the show.
That's so funny.
So it's kind of funny to hear that.
No, the episode kicks off with us finding out in a voiceover that Heather Martin has pulled Farmer Bratt aside and told him she's leaving the experience.
I just want to say that this is, this is so interesting.
because not only do we not see the conversation between the two of them,
we literally just get in a voiceover and see her leaving, just walking off.
Okay, so I haven't had a chance to listen yet,
but what did Heather Martin tell Ben and Ashley when she came on the podcast about her exit from the show?
So she basically didn't say, you know, whether she exited or not,
she couldn't give that away.
But we kind of got the gist that there wasn't a love connection based on the conversation.
she had.
My feeling, because I know you thought,
oh, maybe they're doing some sort of editing trick.
Yeah.
You'll bury the lead thing.
Bering the lead, yeah, not giving her a lot of attention.
I will say just by the time we got to episode two, three,
and we weren't seeing any screen time,
I kind of felt like the writing was on the wall at that point.
The ones who don't get screen time that far in,
I hate to say this.
I really do hate to say this.
It means that they weren't good on camera.
They weren't good.
So it's not even about the connection
because it just means that they weren't performing well.
Because even if there's no connection,
we've seen the other farmers not have connections with certain people
and pull them aside and kind of set that up.
The fact that they're not even acknowledging
her at all basically on camera.
To me, as somebody who's worked on these shows, that says a lot to me.
And, you know, I think that on The Bachelor, she had such a strong storyline, right?
She's on The Bachelor with Colton.
Colton is a known virgin, and she at the time had never been kissed.
That's a strong storyline for a Bachelor.
well, that was quite a while ago and she's definitely been kissed and had some kisses since then.
So the storyline has to be different.
And like we kind of said, are they going to acknowledge that she's been on TV before and they did not?
Now, that is a producer decision.
Had they done that, there would have been a storyline.
There would have been, oh, is she here for Cloud?
Oh, my gosh, she's ahead of the competition.
She's already done this before.
yada, yada, yada.
She knows what she's doing.
She knows what she's doing.
We didn't get any of that.
And we didn't even get her telling, you know,
Farmer Brett about anything.
Now, there is a clip floating online of her and Farmer Brett having a conversation about
their face.
Oh.
To my knowledge, I never saw that on the show.
So I feel like there were moments of her talking to Farmer Brett that made it
to the cutting room floor.
And that's not any fault of her own.
You know what I mean?
Like that's just sometimes what happens
because unfortunately,
when you air on broadcast television,
the show's got to air in a very tight amount of time.
Like it's got a window, right?
It's got a window.
So, you know,
on other shows that I've worked on that have had the multiple lead thing,
the episodes have been longer.
And they've been on streaming platforms.
when you try to cram all these people in and give them each kind of their own moments on camera,
it doesn't happen. And we'll get to it later in the episode where I had a moment where I went,
who is that? Who is that standing there? I actually didn't know who somebody was in a scene.
And I was like, what's going on? Who is that person? Why do I feel like I'm losing my mind that I've never
seen this person? But we'll get into it. But yeah, so Heather Martin exited. We didn't even get
an exit interview.
That's also, to me, super surprising, right?
Because we had quite a few women this episode that did their own exits.
And we even got the goodbye to the other women.
We even got a tearful OTF, you know, before getting into the car.
So to me, you guys, I like Heather Martin.
But I think this says a lot when we're not even getting an OTF.
we're not even getting a goodbye to the other women.
And that is, again, a producer decision of,
and I'm not saying she didn't do those things.
Maybe she did.
And they were like, yeah, we actually haven't given her any screen time.
So we just are going to skip over all of this with her.
Right, right.
I mean, it was bananas because I really will say I didn't expect,
I mean, she came in like a lamb.
I guess I was thinking she might go out like a lion.
I mean, she didn't go out at all.
Like there was just not even a remote.
totally ripple. I mean, that's, and for someone with that kind of experience under her belt,
I'm shocked. But at the same time, I mean, I guess it says, you know, it says a lot about the
connection she must have not had on camera because the girls, I mean, we didn't even get to
see if the girls were sad. But you know what? Another thing that resonated with me was with so many
women self-eliminating on this episode too was I felt what was interesting about that was it was
almost like they were more sad to leave the girls. Oh. That they had become friends with.
100% yeah it's okay i mean i get it totally and then they walk over to the girls are like oh my god we'll get
into it there was one specifically zero tears when she was getting axed went to the girls i think it was
allie beth right yes and there was another and like alley beth wasn't even crying when she told the other
girls macy started bawling that she was leaving and then alie beth cried in her o't you're our light
you're right. Exactly. So, okay, so Heather Martin exits and then Sean and Macy have another
conversation. Macy pulls him for another chat. And, you know, from the last episode, we already
saw Macy was feeling extremely insecure and upset over Farmer Sean's decision to take Rihanna
back to the farm after saying he wasn't going to. So she's really like putting it out there and
she's telling him, you know, that she really doesn't like that he, you know, went back on his word when
he said she wasn't going. And he says he doesn't want this to change anything between them
because he's made this decision. But then he like reassures her and she feels fine. Yeah.
About everything. That's the funny thing I think about Macy is like she's really upset. And then all
he has to do is be like, hey, you're cool. And she's like, okay, I'm good. I'm good.
Okay, let's dance. Let's go. Yeah, it is interesting. I mean, I think,
really shows her age right now, you know, when you're watching this, how, you know, first of all, come on, guys, it's a dating game show. Let's not kid ourselves, right? And we all, if you've never been on one before, which the majority of the world has not, you've definitely seen one. So it's like this is such a foreign concept to you. You know what you're getting into. I get it. The emotions of it can be a little different and maybe pull you in a different way. But to be so insecure about it and then to be so easily comforted by it and then to be so insecure about it all over again,
It's like, these are some red flags, folks.
All right?
These are some red flags for me.
I also think it's good to, like, these women are so adorable, right?
We've already said that many at times before.
But it's obvious to me when I watch these things that most of them have never had to compete
for a man's attention ever in their life.
Isn't that the whole science of these shows, though?
Like I say it all the time, I'm like, the women that are cast on these shows, it's not like
they can't get a date.
It's like they've always been probably the most popular girl at school or the captain of the cheerleading team or whatever.
It's like these girls are used to a serial dater.
We always get a lot of those who go from relationship to relationship.
And I always say behind the scenes, it always be like, hot people don't stay single for very long.
And I still believe that.
I still believe that to be true is that hot people, I might get grief for this.
hot people live in a different caliber than non-hot people.
And I'm saying that as a non-hot person, that I can objectively, no, no, no, I can
objectively see that they live in a different world.
And I feel that we get to see a portion of that world when we watch these shows because
they are so confused sometimes when they get sent home.
rejected when there's no chemistry, but they don't get to like, you know, acknowledge first that
there's no chemistry. Like, it's just, it is extremely jarring to them. And that is because a lot of
them have never faced this before. Well, I've said this a million times, and you know I've said it.
So it's not, this is not a mystery to anyone who's ever heard me talk before. But even when I was the
bachelor, I would say to people, guys, this is not about me. Okay. You could have a monkey up your
hand and on a flower. When someone
doesn't get one, they're going to cry. And the
reason they're going to cry is because, first of all, they got a producer
going, so what does this say about you?
And they're challenging everything that's in their head
or in their heart, how they feel about themselves.
But it's also because they've never
lost to that bitch.
You know what I mean? It's like, who's that chick?
It's also got to be mortifying
to be sent home on television.
Do you remember that TV show next?
The dating show next?
I don't think so.
Oh, my God.
Bob, that was actually the most mortifying dating show of all time. So really quickly, I'll just explain.
Next was there was a single person and then there were a bunch of people on a bus, like the opposite
sex on a bus. And then they would get off the bus and they would do like mini dates. And depending on like
how long you stayed in the date, like equated to a dollar amount or something at the end.
of the show.
So people would get off the bus and like start the date or something.
But sometimes people would get off the bus and the main dater would go, next.
And they just got off the bus and had to get right back on.
That was the most mortifying dating show out there.
Literally, can you imagine walking down the steps and somebody going next?
Yeah, you don't even say hello.
You're like, ha, next.
Oh, okay.
It was horrible.
It was horrible.
I miss TV being mean, though, sometimes.
I really do.
That was the kind of reality shows that raised me,
and I do kind of miss them sometimes.
That's the opposite of our farmer wants a life.
That is literally the opposite of this show, the total opposite.
So we kind of hinted at it.
Next is Sean and Allie Beth's conversation.
You know, we saw, right, this is kind of another thing that I pointed out earlier,
the episode where the farmers didn't send anybody home,
we had mass exodus on this episode because we had former sending people home and we had
girls self-eliminating. So he pulls Allie Beth.
Who is super cute, by the way.
When I saw her again on camera, I went, this girl is so cute.
It is such a combo of how cute she is and that accent.
I'm like, this girl.
It seems so sweet.
Oh, my God.
And you know what I bet?
You know what I bet?
if I'm the casting person, I probably know.
I probably thought that this girl was extremely charismatic in interview,
but this is what happens is you never know.
Sometimes you get them out there and you get them in the environment or you get them on camera.
And they freeze or they become somebody different.
I know that I've had this experience where I've been like,
whoa, whoa, where's the person that I talked?
Like their ear off.
Like where is that person?
And it just doesn't always.
translate. And so I feel like that maybe was the case with Alliebeth because she doesn't give
me shy reserved when she's like around the other girls. But I mean, something about her being with
Farmer Sean on camera, she, you know, really clams up. And so he says he's not feeling the connection
and he has to follow his heart. And she goes back and tells the other women that she's going
home. And Macy immediately burst into tears, which is hilarious because Macy is the one who's the most
pressed about the competition and there being too many women. So like one girl's leaving and you're
upset about that? Yeah. I think it was this one girl. Like I think it seems to me like Allie Bap
really made an impact on the other ladies because they're all like, you're all right.
And she's leaving it. I'm like, what does that even mean? And, uh, but they were like, I think,
sad that it was her leaving. And that's what she starts crying. Like she wasn't crying at all. Was
not crying at all. Wasn't crying at all when he broke up with her when she's talking to the other girls.
It's only in her OTF that she starts crying when the producer is pressuring her off camera.
What does it say about you?
Do you think you're ever going to have a family?
You know, could you imagine?
Well, first of all, I know you can't imagine because I know you've had to do it.
But those little exit interviews when it's like if they're not crying, you're losing your job here, producer.
So first of all, it's really rough.
I can make somebody cry extremely quick.
It is a bit of an art.
I actually did make a man cry in under five minutes.
I think it was a record.
Was that on Ben Higgins season?
Because he cried a lot.
Or Ben.
Ben did cry a lot on his season.
It was endearing.
Making people cry is a reason.
It's an honest reason why I don't like working in production on set.
There's a difference between making somebody cry in an intimate.
conversation and I feel like it is intimate when it's just me doing a audition because nobody else is
around. Now granted, 40 plus people will end up watching said audition later. So it's not like it's a
private conversation. But there's a difference when you're on set and your job is to make them cry.
It was a real struggle for me because I had connections with my talent and when they would cry,
then I would start crying.
And I've actually been told by a producer,
can you get it together and go like walk away?
And I've been told that by somebody and been like,
I'll take a minute.
But it's just like, it's too rough for me.
I'm a little too sensitive to do it.
And I don't want to desensitize myself to the point where I'm just making people
cry and I like don't care.
Now, granted, I have worked on shows.
I won't say what show, but I did work on a show
where every single audition was
boohoo bawling tears. And that was because
it was extremely sad and emotional. And so I did have to
put on some armor and just like quickly roll through things. And it wasn't
because I was trying to minimize their pain by any means, but it was
just what the show was. And I had to do it now. I would
not do a show like that on the regular.
I much prefer a dating show, but not that anybody cares,
but that is why I objectively don't love to work on set so much
is because of the making people cry thing is not my favorite to do in person.
It's rough.
But so when Ali Beth is crying in her exit interview, I felt for her.
But anyways, then we move on to Farmer Brett and, oh, man, I'm going to get it wrong.
Is it Casey or Cassie?
I don't remember.
But he says, he immediately pulls her and starts to let her down.
And I thought, oh, I was on the money with this one because I said, I said on that solo date, the body language was not there.
And we saw him.
And that's when I was like, okay, maybe I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe he doesn't have it in him.
But when I saw episode after episode that he had it in him,
I was like, that girl is going home.
Like, the vibe is not there.
I couldn't believe it.
Like, that was my pick.
And she cries telling the other girls she's going home.
They all cry telling the other girls.
That's what's so funny.
None of them are really breaking down with the guy.
No, no, they aren't.
And then we have this very interesting moment where Sean,
And
Emily walk off
and start kissing.
It sounds like a horse
chewing cud.
Like,
have you ever heard of cow chewing cut?
Like,
I don't know what the hell
was going on with that kiss
but it's like,
I'm like,
down.
Farmer Sean loves to kiss.
He's a kisser.
He's a kisser.
And meanwhile,
I'm over here
waiting on baited breath
for farmer Brett
to just get one in.
And I,
I'm going to not.
I'm not going to lie when we get there.
I actually screamed.
Like I actually was like watching this and I was like, yes.
You go for it, Sean.
You go for it, Brad.
Sorry for anybody listening with headphones, but I actually was thrilled by that.
So anyways, we see the kiss.
It's total, to me, the kiss is on the racetrack.
It's a long way away.
It is a long way away.
And they're shooting them with a long shot.
Like they're not even on the dirt with them.
It's a long shot.
It's at night.
It's not even well laid.
You can hardly even see them.
You can hardly see them,
but you can hear them so you know they're kissing.
So we'll come back to that because that was,
I'm glad you noticed that as well.
You know what you reminded me of?
Do you remember Joe Millionaire,
the original season with Evan Marriott?
Of course.
When they're in the mansion.
Oh, when they have the kiss that we don't even have video footage of,
we just hear the audio.
Or when they're in the bushes and it's like
scratch and you're like, what is going on over there?
The bushes.
That's what it reminded me of.
That's the bushes.
That's what I remember from that show.
Yes.
Oh my gosh.
We're just having a walk down memory lane with good TV from back in the day.
That's for sure.
Okay.
So then they have to do their solo date choices.
And Farmer Brett chooses Hannah.
I thought these were all really predictable choices.
Very predictable.
Right? Because we said in a previous episode, the girl that gave him the wishing star in the first episode,
who he immediately invited back to the, like, she's been at the top of the list this whole time.
Farmer Braden chooses Brittany, which is, I think, the only other girl that he's talked to on his group.
And then Farmer Sean chooses Emily.
And by the way, when he was up there and he was about to make this choice, I was like, if you don't choose Emily, after kissing her,
You're going to look like a dick.
Like a total bad, a player.
Awful.

Then we go back to the farms and this is where the drama ensues.
Okay, so finally.
Finally.
I've been tuning in for this this whole time.
So Farmer Braden's farm.
Skyler is like, she's like, I'm nervous like to join this group, you know, because she's the new girl.
And they ask Carson, you know, how she's doing.
And she gives the most fake ass laugh.
It was like the weirdest shit I've ever heard in my life.
And the face and the face of sarcasm.
It's just like.
Well, one of the women, I don't know who it was, goes, wow, that's the most awkward laugh ever.
Literally.
Literally, Carson.
And so then Carson confronts the women and asks who was talking about the house dynamics to Braden.
Yeah.
And I'm going to give her kudos.
Brittany admits.
Yeah.
I did.
I did.
He asked me about it.
So I told him about it.
Now, if memory serves me correct, though, that's not how it went down.
I was going to say, I didn't think that was the case.
And in the moment, I was like, wait a minute, he did ask someone about it, but it wasn't her.
It wasn't her.
She was the one who brought it up.
And I think later he asked someone else, like, so how's everything going back there or whatever?
You know, but yeah, it wasn't Brittany.
It wasn't Brittany.
Brittany was the one who went to him on her own and divulged the information about Carson.
Now, I'm not going to lie.
I'm a little peeved because you and I both thought, we're going to find out what Carson said behind the scenes.
Yes.
We did not.
No.
That to me is bad producing.
It's a big miss.
It's a huge miss because I want the drama to build.
I want to know what was said.
I want the girls to then say,
if you don't tell Farmer Braden,
I'm going to tell him he deserves to know.
Then I want to see if Carson actually does it,
or I want to see the other girls go tell Farmer Braden,
and I want to see Farmer Braden have some balls and eliminate her.
I was actually not impressed by this whole exit situation.
I wasn't, I didn't like it.
It was a mass exodus.
It was like anybody who wants to go home can today.
And we're not going to put the pressure on the farmers to send you home.
Exactly.
It's almost like someone gave him a pep talk in the back room.
Like, hey, listen, a lot of you are going to go home today.
If you're not feeling a connection and you want to bail early, go ahead.
That's almost how it felt, you know.
Yeah. Carson, the language she chooses to use in this exit is extremely strategic on her part.
So she says, you know, first of all, she says that this, you know, experience has been very triggering for her.
because it reminds her of her
pageant days.
She had to move states.
It was so bad.
Exactly.
What?
You had to move states.
It was so bad.
So she goes and ends up having
this one-on-one conversation
with Farmer Braden.
And she tells him
she doesn't think
that she's going to be able
to come back from this.
Yeah.
That to me is a weird phrase because if you notice, everything she says in the conversation with him is about outward perspective.
I don't think I can come back from this is a disconnect from saying something like,
I don't know if we're going to be able to get back on track.
you and I after something like this.
It's kind of like victim speak, I think, to a certain degree.
Like, it's almost like she's taking herself out of the mix with him,
and it's only about her.
You know what I mean?
Like, I don't know.
That's how I felt.
That's how I interpreted it.
I interpreted it as optics.
Like, she knew the writing was on the wall.
She's getting painted as a villain.
And I can't come back.
I can't turn my image around.
so I'm going to leave.
And there was no talk of, I really like you.
This is our first challenge.
Let's see how we accomplish this.
Let's see how we get over this.
And to be quite frank, he was not trying to convince her to stay at all.
I think he was relieved.
He was so not into her.
And he also didn't want to have to try and break up with her because he's probably terrified.
I felt, did you feel like the drama being brought to his attention made him uninterested?
Because that's the vibe I got.
Like, I think that on their rodeo date, I thought he liked her.
I thought that there was a vibe there.
And I think when he heard one girl say something, he was like, okay.
But the second girl, he was like, eh-uh.
Like, I think he thought he was getting the wool pulled over his eyes at that point.
Yeah.
Yeah, he definitely didn't fight it.
There's no question.
It wasn't like he even wanted to try and unearthed the real story from her point of view.
It was just sort of like, I'm done.
And he also didn't do any digging to be like, what exactly did she say?
What could it have been misconstrued?
Again, I think this all goes back to really bad.
Sorry, guys.
I think this goes back to bad producing.
Because that as a viewer is what I want to know.
You don't give me the breadcrumbs of she's saying stuff.
She's even saying stuff about Farmer Braden
and then never tell me what was said.
I mean, it couldn't have been that hurtful for God's sake
and he's still a nice guy.
He's a decent looking dude.
It's like good looking guy.
It had to have been bad though for two girls to bring it up
and for them to say that she was being, you know,
bad intentions.
My whole thing is just like, and also, I'm sorry,
this is also goes back to why do we not have a camera on the women?
when they're in the house by themselves.
Well, that's what I was going to say.
One of my favorite parts of other reality shows
would have been like when Brittany said,
well, yeah, because he asked me about it,
so I answered it.
Then to show a clip where she's like,
well, I need to talk to you about something that's bothering me
and their name is Carson.
Exactly.
I love when they have that kind of thing
that exposes people for their lives on those shows.
And so, yeah, that would have been really ideal
in a situation like this for them to play back.
Here's what she said, you know.
Exactly.
Exactly. It needed, they need stationary cameras in the house that the women are staying in because I think that we're missing out on a lot of moments that could be really beneficial to the audience.
Yeah.
You know, and.
But that had to be a, that had to be a choice, right?
It wasn't like this.
That's what I'm saying. It's a choice.
It's a choice by producers to not put cameras on the women when they're not with the farmers at all times because that's a,
That's an easy thing.
Like, again, I'm saying stationary cameras,
the ones that you kind of see that are at a bird's eye view
that are up in the corners of rooms that aren't actually monitored by a person.
You put those up at the houses,
and I guarantee these girls are saying and doing stuff
when these farmers aren't around.
That would be really interesting TV.
And it's also, right, it's not on The Bachelor,
when we have this kind of conflict,
usually on the two-on-one date,
This gives The Bachelor an opportune time to hear both sides, but also to maybe play mediator for a second and see if he's got those skills.
And I just feel like we're kind of underutilizing our farmers in some of this drama.
So anyways, Carson exits and tells the other women she's going home and they're surprised by this.
But it wasn't like Ali Beth's tears.
Yeah, no, it wasn't like that.
This was more like, oh my gosh.
All right, we'll take care.
Exactly.
Oh, goodness.
All right, bye, bye, Ben.
So then we're at Sean's farm and Emily is getting ready for their solo date that they're
about to go on.
And she's telling them about, you know, she's sitting around and the women are discussing
that they witness the kiss that Emily and Sean had.
I think this is absurd.
And I don't think that they witnessed it.
And if they did witness it, again, I'm going to say they were very far away.
Very far.
This did not take place in the barn.
This was out on the freaking racetrack.
And we don't know how far away that is from where they were dancing.
But it definitely was not within any sort of close proximity to where they were.
And I feel like.
In fact, the teaser of it, the week.
before I thought, oh my God, what to do it right at the table in the, you know, square dance
room or something.
Yeah.
Then you watch it.
You can't even see if they're actually kissing.
So I'm sure the women didn't have an audio feed up there hearing the chomping on the cud that
we had to listen to.
No.
So this to me is two things.
It's either one saw it from really far away or they saw them walking off and they kind of like
went to the window or whatever and like kind of watched on their own again.
But why didn't we see that?
I was just about to say. Again, we don't have video footage of that happening.
So it leads me to believe that this is a producer plant of, well, you guys know that they kissed, right?
Oh, yeah, they kissed. Right outside. Like, right, right. You guys didn't see that? She didn't tell you guys that they kissed. Oh, well, she did.
So them saying and like grasping at straws now saying that Emily is strategic, which we'll get to, is.
A hilarious thing to say because guys, you're on a competition show.
If you don't have strategy and you're just batting your eyes, that's on you.
You're going home.
That's on you.
Exactly.
That's your choice to not be strategic, but you are in a competitive environment
and somebody having strategy in that to get more one-on-one time, to get more eye contact,
to get more kisses.
that is not them doing something malicious.
That's them actually understanding the kind of world that they were dropped into
and using it to their advantage.
So that's silly.
But we see Olivia and she pulls Sean for a chat.
And I liked this because, again, my feeling, I don't know anything.
My feeling is Olivia's the winner.
I get that vibe.
and I think that what she did here was great.
She pulls him.
She wants to make sure he knows,
hey, I really like you.
I really like the time we spent together.
You know, so and,
and oh, by the way,
the girl that you kissed is being strategic,
but you'll figure that out on your own.
I kind of like that she said
you'll figure that out on your own.
Again,
felt like maybe a producer moment of,
hey,
you want to have one on one time with him?
Well,
you also need to,
you should probably remind him,
that you guys think she's strategic,
you know,
something like that.
So anyway,
so that happens.
And then we get Brett and Hannah
going on their one-on-one date,
and he takes her to a little town in Mississippi.
Look at all the exclamation marks I put in the rundown.
A little time,
Missy's been this whole life.
I love that.
They hold hands.
They hold hands when they,
so they go on a little shopping date.
and he is telling her how hot she looks in things and how pretty she looks in outfits.
He's turning it on, man.
Farmer. Brett. We'll get to it.
But my blood pressure went through the roof during one scene.
I was like, holy smokes, this guy is so hot.
He's so hot.
Okay, so they go for a milkshake after and they have a conversation where Hannah talks about her past relationship.
and said that she had to compromise more than her partner did,
and she's not going to be doing that again.
And she's kind of felt guarded going into this experience,
but she likes that Farmer Brett is getting her to open up,
and they hold hands.
And then when they are leaving, he goes in for the kiss.
Now, the camera angles are weird.
At first I thought it was a cheek kiss.
And then I had to go back and rewind it a couple of times
and watch it.
And then I realized it held a little too long.
So I was like, no, it's lip-to-lip kiss, but I'm not seeing lip-to-lip action because of the angles that they got.
But again, I think she's the winner.
I'm saying it now.
I think that Sean and Farmer Brett have clear frontrunners.
It's Farmer Braden that I'm actually really confused on where he stands.
He's on the fence with you.
What do you think about this connection between Brett and Hannah?
I think it's pretty awesome.
I like Seeing Farmer Brett and I like Hannah.
So she's an early pick for me as well.
So I feel like I'm enjoying that connection.
Obviously love seeing Farmer Brett.
Get a little lip action in there too.
That's pretty cool.
Because he's so reserved, you know.
And so see him actually kind of, you know,
plus I just think it's adorable if you go out for a milkshake.
You know, I just think that's just there's something to that,
like such Americana, you know.
It was.
And then, yeah.
And then Sean and Emily, I feel like,
that's a really sweet connection too.
And, you know, it's like you watch them and there's something about them that, yeah,
the kiss of the racetrack thing, I don't understand that, you know,
completely fabricated drama there.
But it is kind of sweet to see them together and to see them kind of, you know.
So, yeah, for Braden, I feel like it's just sort of like shooting in the wind.
You know, he's still not even close to figuring out which person he has a connection with
or if there's going to be anybody that he feels a connection with in that regard.
So that's been kind of interesting so far.
Yeah. Sean and Emily, they go to a nearby winery to his farm, which is Sunstone Winery.
I absolutely love this place.
I have been there.
I celebrated my birthday once doing wine tasting in the area with my then boyfriend.
And I can say that it is a super romantic location.
And if anybody cares, they have.
I'm not even a big white wine drinker.
Their chardonnay that they make is so delicious.
I ended up leaving with three bottles.
Wonderful.
The place is covered in lavender, I remember,
and just so stunning.
And if anybody's a reality TV fan,
they will know that it's where James and Raquel
had their engagement party on Vanderpump rules.
And it has been featured.
I mean, they didn't end up getting married.
It has been featured in a lot of places.
So beautiful Sunstone Winery.
And they, you know, go picking grapes.
They drink wine.
And she says to him that she was born to be a wife and to be a mother.
And then he kind of, you know, approaches her and says,
listen, you've been called strategic.
And she's shocked by this.
And she doesn't really understand what strategy.
she has other than she wants to date him.
And he says he really likes her and he is
grasping her lap as he is telling her this.
It is a weird moment.
Like you're like, is this dude just this uncomfortable?
No, I got the other vibe.
He is so touchy and he is so kissy-kissy.
Like this guy is ready.
This guy is ready.
22, right?
Isn't that what he said?
He's 22.
I know.

Farmer Braden and Brittany, they go to an orchard where Braden has gone since he was a kid and they make apple cider.
Have you ever been to an apple orchard? Have you ever done this?
I sure have a bunch of times. Yes, I've done a couple shows that took me.
from hosting perspective to behind the scenes of apple cider and cider mills.
So, yeah, I'm very familiar.
I've gone apple picking a handful of times.
There's some farms you can go to that are like an hour outside of Los Angeles.
I've never made my own apple cider, but I've made many apple pies from scratch.
And I will say apple cider donuts are the best.
They are actually...
Do you like them rolled in cinnamon?
and sugar or do you refer them the standard
plain way? Cinnamon and sugar.
So good. So good.
I couldn't help but notice
because we see a couple shots of snow
during Farmer Braden's date.
It must have been freezing
because Britney's lips are blue
when they are outside.
She was like, borderline hypothermia.
I was like, they need to get like a quilt
on that chick. Poor thing.
They're like, we're going to do this date outside
and it doesn't matter that there's
No, I was literally like, my lips are blue.
She's freezing.
Yeah.
Hey, they can just be happy that they didn't have to do the mid-shift hot tub in Alaska on the bottom of a glacier like I had to.
I don't think there's any hot tub dates on this show.
There shouldn't have been on that one either.
That was the coldest day of my life.
Farmer Braden brings up his favorite topic, moving to the farm.
He is really adamant about the moving to the.
the farm thing because he, like he has said several times, can't pick up the farm and move it.
And so Brittany, you know, talks about being long distance.
She's an esthetician and, you know, she's got to work in the city.
And I don't blame her.
You're not getting too many people out in the middle of the farm wanting to get Botox and
cosmetic work done.
So she's got to be around civilization.
And so she is based in Utah and she's wondering, you know, is he open to long distance?
Now, Bertney, you can't do wifey long distance, but you could do dating.
And so, you know, he says it's not ideal.
But the real deal breaker for him is if they can't eventually do life on the farm.
Right.
So, you know, he says for the right person, he is willing to make it work.
And then we maybe get, I feel, the most awkward.
kiss of the season.
What ends up happening is
there's a shot of them walking
in the orchard
and this is how I think it played out.
This is how I think because I again
had to rewind this one
a couple of times and watch
how bad it was. Producer
probably said to them, okay guys, let's
have you get up. We're going to
do some walking scenes
now in the orchard.
Brittany is
holding her apple cider
in one hand. She's got a mug,
a full mug in one hand
as they're walking. She's got her arm
around Farmer Braden.
And as they're walking,
it doesn't look like
they're talking much. Like maybe saying
you know, beautiful sunset or something
something. They're not looking at each other.
They're literally walking and he
stops midwalk
and just goes in for the kiss
and covers
with the
cowboy hat, which
to me was so
unnatural
because by the way
they all do the hat thing this episode
every one of them
Sean's is actually the worst
he actually takes the hat off of the
girl he's kissing and covers
their faces
I'm not wearing a hat
I would feel so
strange if I was wearing a hat
and I kiss a guy and he takes it off
while we're kissing and covers our faces
with it. Someone must have said
something like, you know, hey, if you really want to, you know, be romantic, you know,
and say like, I don't want to kiss you on camera. I'd rather kiss you in private, you know,
put the hat up or something. Someone must have said something because where else would they have
gotten this memo of every single one of them doing that?
Again, bad producer move in my feelings. I would not want all of my leads kisses to look similar
in the same episode. We want variation.
We want it to be natural.
And now you've done it three times in the same episode.
It's not even the third time we've seen it done on the show
because we saw it done in the rodeo episode.
It's just like, and then, and then farmer breeding.
So we have this awkward jarring kiss midwalk.
He covers their faces, but there's a camera behind them
who has a completely unobstructed view.
And they just cut to that shock.
Right. Guys, if you're pushing the hat thing, use that shot. Why would you push the hat thing on them and then cut to the camera on the other side? So we just see them holding the hat, but we see the kiss. It's, I don't like it, guys. I don't like it. Producers, you're not listening to this, but I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't like it. I want to see the kiss.
Maybe they should be listening to this. So we could give them the, you know. And you know what? I'm not going to be mad of it.
I see some tongue. It's a dating show.
That's true. I mean, are you going to, are you going to buy a Ferrari if you haven't at least
trying to take it for a test drive?
My, my old thing. The answer's no.
My whole thing.
For some of us watching who aren't getting any action, let me see it.
Let me see it on my screen.
Right. Give us, you know, give us some proverbial, you know, living vicariously type of stuff.
Give me a little something, especially when farmer Brett starts kissing.
Okay, because I'm not interested in the other two.
Sorry, gentlemen.
A lot of hearts breaking out there for...
Farmer Brett and that mustache, it does something for me.
And so if I, you know, need...
I want to see a little bit more kissing.
It's a little too quick, a little too much hat coverage for me.
I understand.
So then the episode ends up.
We're back at Farmer Brett's Farm.
And...
Hannah fills the women in on her solo date.
She tells them that they kissed.
And Stephanie starts to stress.
She realizes that time is running out for her to build a connection.
And this is where she goes,
it's Stephanie and Sophia.
The other two, Quinn and Hannah are like,
are you girls feeling stressed?
And Stephanie is like expressing an interview that she's stressed.
and Sophia, I go, who are you?
What did I miss?
Who are you?
I'm like so confused.
And I realized, oh, that's right.
You're the girl from the last episode.
The new girl that all of these girls have been brought back.
But again, producers are giving you zero camera time to say anything.
So I actually have completely forgotten who you are at this point.
And I was like, I was like, did I miss something?
I literally was sitting there watching it going,
Who is that? Who is that?
And then I was like, Sophia.
And then I had to do some mental gymnastics to get back there.
And so this, Brett takes the women to go cut firewood.
And this is, this got me.
I literally, you see what I wrote.
Brett splits a log.
That's hot.
That is so hot.
So my ex-boyfriend was a mountain man and cut wood.
a ton in front of me.
Now it's making sense. This whole Brett thing's
making sense. It was
hot when my ex-boyfriend
did it. It was hot when
Farmer Brett did it. And
I'm a city girl.
And
I've, my dad didn't chop wood.
My stepdad didn't shop wood.
I don't have brothers. I never saw
men chopping wood ever.
So I'm like,
hell yeah. Like that is
I'm like, that should have been
in the freaking promo.
And the best part, the best part is when he starts to cut the wood and the women go,
yeah, take your shirt off.
And he goes, no.
No, thank you, ma'am.
I was just like, if I were there, I would have said that.
I would have been like, he's not going to be objectified.
He's not a piece of meat, this guy.
But ladies, we do it a little bit more subtle.
Instead of just being like, hey, take your shirt off.
That's when you go, Brett, are you getting a little warm?
like doing that.
You're getting a little sweaty.
Maybe you should take off that top layer
because you know he's wearing more than one shirt.
Get him to take off the top layer
and then you go, well, you're already taking that off.
So you might as well just take off the shirt,
the t-shirt too that's underneath.
Those pants are constricting.
What?
Don't even get me started on cowboys and tight jeans.
It's something that needs to translate into more men's wardrobes.
But anyways, we get another exit in this episode because Stephanie pulls Brett for a chat.
Thank you much.
And again, Farmer Brett, oof, I liked this moment.
She's getting really emotional with him and they're outside.
And Farmer Brett removes his sunglasses while they're talking.
And I go, what a class act.
This guy understands that this conversation is emotional for her.
It's not emotional for him.
But he is being such a respectful gentleman that he wants to make really conscious eye contact with her.
Because remember, he's already told us in another episode, eye contact is something that he's really into making eye contact.
So she tearfully says, you know, that she is going to, you know, leave.
she doesn't feel like he's giving her a chance and she thinks it's time for her to go. And so,
again, he doesn't fight it. He doesn't say, please stick around a little bit longer. I want to build
this. They said some nice things too, though. I did like that they were like, you know, I don't have
any hard feelings. I thought like it was a good experience. So I thought that was nice, right?
Like that was kind of a nice way to kind of say, okay, I'm not going to talk trash on you when you
leave. Exactly. Exactly. And so she tells the other one,
and she's leaving, that's the end. So the scenes for next episode,
tension at Sean's farm, him telling Macy, the thing that hurts the most is that you don't
trust me at all. I don't care. I'm sorry. I don't care because that it doesn't,
Macy is not top two. You're adorable, but you're not top two. I'm really sorry. It's going to be
Olivia. And who that other person is going to be, I'm a little. I'm a little bit. I'm a little. I'm
little still TBD on, but Olivia is in the top.
It can't be Mason.
She's showing yourself to be way too needy.
It can't be easy.
In these circumstances, I can tell you from experience, even though I've never been a farmer.
But when you are in these moments on a show, all the things that you're juggling in your head
to try and make sure you're being kind to everyone, to try and make sure, I mean, because most
the people that go on the show are kind and good people.
Yes.
It's like you're not trying to hurt anyone's feelings.
The last thing you need is someone who is really.
demanding of a lot of your emotional energy,
like to a point where it's like almost unfairly demanding in the circumstance.
So it's like, I get it.
He's probably at the point where he's just like, man, yeah, you know,
go take a Xanax or something, you know?
Oh, I know who's going to be top two,
which I also think is weird that he didn't give her the freaking solo date after
their conversation.
Rihanna that he brought home.
Oh, that's right.
He loves saying her.
name. He loved that she was so intense with that conversation. And I thought, again,
it's a little strange to invite the new girls and then not give them the one-on-one dates.
It's like, again, nobody did. It's like they fall into the background then because we've already
had three episodes with these other girls and we've seen their faces and got to know them.
That's why I'm really sorry, Sophia. I had no idea who you were when you were.
standing at the end of the episode because I thought, what is going on?
Because they should have, if they liked them that much, they should have then said,
okay, I need to get to know these girls.
Or they just should not have brought them back.
That to me is what's...
It's almost a wasted motion, right?
It's a waste.
But again, that's why we had so many exit this episode.
And it looks like that's going to continue next week because three women exit next week.
Yes.
We see braided.
and Casey having a good time.
And then we see Farmer Brett being drawn to Quinn.
And this is, I think it's, I've already said this.
It's Quinn and it's Hannah.
Top two for Farmer Brett.
That's who he's got eyes for.
And I think that's going to be a tough choice.
I got to be honest.
I think it's going to be a tough choice.
And I'm scared that they're getting me,
the editors are getting me emotionally invested in Quinn.
And she's going to get sent home.
I don't like it.
Or maybe they're doing.
doing the opposite and they're getting me emotionally invested in Hannah and then they're going to send
her hope. I don't know. I don't know and I don't like it because I like both of them and I don't
wish to be Farmer Brett in that situation. And then we see Sean kissing again. He's a kissing
bandit. He's a kissing farmer. And you should know that. Farmer kisses a wife. Yeah, well, you know,
listen, I know, I got a little bit of a bum wrap out there for kissing a lot too. But I will say this.
I wasn't as loud of a kisser I don't think of Sean
but you know what's saying
I also don't think that there's anything wrong with kissing
again
give me more angles producers
editors give me more
of the kissing
you know I need to see more
because I'm not getting any
IRL so I gotta see it
I got to see it okay guys
and I can't be the only
one listening that feels the same
the guys are cute
The girls are cute.
Yeah, there's some cute people on the show.
It's a dating show.
I need to see a little bit more action.
I will say this.
I think the casting team did a good job on this show because I do.
There hasn't been any of the women that I haven't thought, oh, wow, she's cute.
She seems really sweet.
And all the guys, I feel like, you know, hey, there's something about each of these guys that I think is really nice.
You know, they seem like really good people.
So I'm hopeful.
I'm really hopeful because this could be like one of those feel-good hits of the summer.
right, where everybody ends up happy, you know?
Can we do it just once?
It's a very PG dating show compared to others.
I mean, I think it makes The Bachelor look risque in a lot of ways.
Like we're not getting, as far as I remember.
F.A. Island's like porn compared to this.
I mean, it is crazy.
Hey, don't talk about my show like that.
Sorry, sorry, no offense.
No, guys, it's not the same.
It is not the same at all.
But as far as I remember from last season,
I don't even think they do overnight dates on this show.
And yeah.
So again, makes other shows look really risque.
But I love what's happening.
I love that we're seeing, you know, these guys open up
and get on, you know, different levels and stuff with these girls.
So, you know, sorry to see Heather Martin,
our Bachelor Nation connection exit this episode.
I feel like this is kind of her last chance at being on a dating show.
I think she's probably done done after this.
Well, the golden franchise might be reunited.
You know, might come back in another round.
She is way too young to be on a golden show.
I'm totally kidding.
I know.
But we wish her all the best.
And I think that she's adorable and she's bound to find love in the real world.
She seems so sweet. So I'm hopeful for her.
Maybe reality TV isn't your place to find love.
But we liked seeing you on this journey.
Absolutely.
And I can't wait for next week's episode.
And thanks, Bob.
Well, thank you.
I mean, thanks to everybody for listening to a little bit famous here.
