My worth is not wrapped up in how many things I've won, because what I came to realize is I valued winning so much that once it was over, I got the blues, and I was like, this is, this is. it. For me, it's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey. It's the people. It's the
Starting point is 00:02:03 failures. It's the heartache. Listen to the bright side on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeartRadio. It's a beautiful morning in
Starting point is 00:02:24 Palm Springs. People are waking up. We're looking outside. people are slowly getting out of bed from an evening out, Trista. Yes, me too. You see up later on I did last night. I, so, it's so funny you say that because I was watching,
Starting point is 00:02:39 you know, going through social a little bit as I was getting ready for bed. And I don't know if you, yeah, you did. You were part of this. The social media, like, team had everyone answer, like, who do you think is going to party the hardest? I was like, everyone's going to say, Ben.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And just because you, you like, to buggy on the dance floor. I love a good wedding. And, um, and I said me because I was like, hey, I'm out. I'm having. I love a dance floor. And, and I, this is like, kind of like my happy place, um, getting together with friends. Okay. I was going to say, not just Palm Springs, but these events. Exactly. Like just seeing friends, like Molly and I have been friends. We were saying for 15 years I love reunions if you will
Starting point is 00:03:31 and just being and I had my family there too so it was awesome I mean this being at a wedding like last night does it make like flash you back to your wedding or no I a little bit
Starting point is 00:03:44 because I don't know if you know this but Mindy Weiss was there who and do you know who Mindy Weiss is? Okay from Wells and Sarah because they use me as well Oh yes true story so So, Mindy, I did not know she did the wedding.
Starting point is 00:03:59 I was sitting at the wedding thinking, this has Mindy all over it, but I didn't know that for sure. And then we're at the little reception, like quote unquote reception, the like fake one for TV, you know. The Dan and man one. Yeah. Right. And randomly just saw her. she was looking around like looking for something and I ran up to her gave her a big hug and she she was like who do you think I was looking for um she she was my wedding like a big part of our
Starting point is 00:04:35 wedding um in helping us plan and everything so little moments like that and just the flowers were stunning like that kind of like the the ambiance of it all took me back a little bit um obviously the cameras. Yeah. It was amazing. And a wedding, just, of course, when you're married, I feel like it reminds you of your own nuptials. It was very intimate.
Starting point is 00:05:02 I'm really glad they had both Teresa and Gary do their own vows. I agree. Because sometimes you go to an event like this. And yes, it's really cool. And we always have a blast because it's behind the scenes of like getting together with people. And oftentimes we don't get. though like the intimacy for whatever the event's supposed to be and gary and teresa i think sharing
Starting point is 00:05:22 their own vows last night really felt for me like it brought me into their story a little bit more for sure and also his family how his family you know like the daughters got up and like said a little something and i thought that was so sweet and then her daughter and then i think his son-in-law yeah i mean those little moments i agree they make it way more special and then was this the first wedding that both your kids have been able to come to? Yeah. What do they think? Blakesley is, you know, she loves to get glammed, like, get dressed up, and she borrowed
Starting point is 00:05:57 a dress from me that she wore last night, and we bought her new shoes. And, you know, she's all about that, you know, that vibe, the girly vibe. Max could have cared less. So is Max and his dad similar? Very. Like, very similar humans. always said that so when they were little max used to look like me like i looked like him he looks everyone came up to him last night was like you are an exact twin of your dad um but i used to always say
Starting point is 00:06:31 he looked like me and he acted like ryan and then she looks like him and acts like me so like i feel like his their personalities are definitely very similar okay introverted like you saw i'm sure you saw they were both sitting at the table like not on the dance floor like she was on the dance floor with me hanging out with the girls yeah oh that's so great i know okay we have a couple things to touch on yeah um one i i want to clear something up okay with you actually about ryan with me yeah twitter is buzzing this morning about ryan no they aren't oh i promise about ryan setter yeah so the show did him a big disservice last night and i'm going to show you this clip And then I want you to speak to it because I know exactly what was going on.
Starting point is 00:07:18 And I know it's not what it looks like. And you're going to clear it up. Oh my gosh. I'm dying. What the heck? Let me find it real quick. I will. No, I haven't seen it.
Starting point is 00:07:29 But my, so my parents and Ryan's parents, we were all on a text chain last night. Yeah. And they all, someone texted and said, I am dying to know what Ryan just said to Trista. Oh, okay. So you've heard about this. Just from my family watching. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:49 So they were like, I'm dying to say what Ryan just said to Trista. It's like got to be something classic Ryan. Like he's great, great sense of humor or whatever. And we're always, you know, like personal inside jokes, whatever. And I think it was, if I'm correct, he said something like, I want to make you, you'll be the happiest woman on the planet. And he actually said the second happiest. Ah. See, that's perfect. That's really cute. I know. I was like, oh, like, you know, so, so it was like a personal moment for us. And now they're like trashing him for it.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Not trashing him at all. It's actually really fun. I don't think anybody, if you read the comments underneath the video that was posted originally, it's all like King Ryan, like King Ryan. Like, nobody is actually, but it is funny because the person that posted didn't know who Ryan was. Like some guy at the golden wedding just said that's not going to happen to his wife. And then everybody's like, that's not what happened. He had to have said something different. Yes. And if he did say that, that's still kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:08:55 But no, it was, I wanted to clear it up. So that's really, he said the second happiest. The second happy. That's really sweet. Come on now. Okay. Also, we have a big day of recording great episodes with some, all the, most of the people they were here at the wedding. Like you said, it was a great reunion. It was really fun to be
Starting point is 00:09:12 with everybody. I had a blast all day. We played golf yesterday morning, led all the way up into an evening that at nine o'clock, it felt like it was four in the morning to me. I was exhausted. I know, I agree. Exhausted. I was like, how was it only 830? Oh, it's just so tired. Braden and Christina got engaged last night. Sure did. My wife had a fairly strong reaction. She said that, and I don't know necessarily knew this. I just assumed it. She should, because you don't get engaged to somebody else's wedding. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:09:42 So I don't know. I mean, it could very well be a role, you know. I don't know that you want to take away from any of the light that's shining on the bright and groom, you know?
Starting point is 00:09:53 So yes. It's also why you know where white, probably right? Exactly. Exactly. You don't want to, you don't want to compete or take away from their light.
Starting point is 00:10:03 And it's funny because one of the producers was like, hey guys, this is just, there's something really cool that's about to happen and do you want to be like part of it and I'm like oh sure whatever yeah um not knowing what it was and then she said that they were that he was gonna propose and I actually like my immediate reaction when and anything has to do with love is like happiness
Starting point is 00:10:29 like I just love love yeah you just get excited I get excited and I didn't think about that like Because at this point in time, it was like kind of more about the like party, the reception, like the celebration of it all and not like sanctity, you know what I mean? The sacredness of the wedding. And so when when she said that, I was like, oh, I just got goosebumps just because I love love. And then someone else said, I don't know if that's really a good thing. if that feels right. And I was like, whoa, that's so true. Like, I really didn't think about it that way, but you are so right.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Like, I don't know if timing was great. Not that I'm not happy for them, but I don't know that it was the right place. I'm with you. So when Jess called me this morning, I was talking to my wife about last night's show, she was kind of running me through what everything was shown on top. Oh, yeah. I have no idea. Ryan saying that, you know.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Yeah. Ryan leaning. and be like, yeah, this is doomed to fail. And she's running me through and she's like, she's like, were you there when they got engaged? And same thing. Same, you know, producer told us like something really cool is going to happen. And everybody gets really excited at these things.
Starting point is 00:11:49 And the producers run around and say, oh my gosh, you know. And you get the time, you're like, oh, that's cool. They got engaged. And I think you just made a good point. At that moment, we didn't really feel like we were at a wedding. yet. Right. And yes, we knew we're at a wedding, but it was a very like compartmentalized event last night, right? That's a perfect word. We had the opening like entryway, a party there kind of station getting ready. There was a nacho bar that was pretty fantastic. And then that's where
Starting point is 00:12:19 that happened. And then we moved on to the wedding portion of the evening. Still, you know, I guess timing wise, they probably could have done it better. But there's only so many moments. Yeah. If Braden or if the show was like, I want you guys to get engaged on television, there's only so many moments that those moments, like that that can exist. And last night was definitely one of those. Yeah. Right. Still feels weird. I don't know if I would have done it that way. Right. But I also saw like how happy those two people are. They are so really happy. So freaking happy. And I usually like would say I don't know if they'll make it. I think like just seeing them to. together last night like it's it was pretty legit yeah i agree i'm really happy for him i so blakesly had so much fun with with girls that she loves katelyn especially she's just just totally looks up to her and rachel and because i was like how like who did you really love seeing or hanging out with and she said christina really um and she was so sweet to her on the dance floor like pulled her aside they were dancing together and singing together.
Starting point is 00:13:30 It was really, really cute. And obviously, I think she's always like that, it seems, but she was on a high. Like, she was like, I just freaking got engaged. Like, I'm going to marry the man that I love. So that's kind of where my heart was when I initially heard about it. Like, I just, I truly do love love, but I, maybe it wasn't the right place in time. Who cares? It's not like, really, it's like their story and whatever it happened.
Starting point is 00:13:57 I don't know how Gary and Teresa feel about it, but for me, I'm like, I'm happy that they're happy. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam, maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
Starting point is 00:14:19 This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to. to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him, because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you

What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I think on television it probably felt like it took more away from Gary and Teresa that actually did too. You're right, because they didn't feel that like compartmentalization. It was like kind of like a flow for them. And for us, it was like, okay, you have to come here and this is where you're going to be stationed for the next half an hour. Sure. And this is like just mingle and chat.
Starting point is 00:18:25 And, like, that's when people were just chatting with, like, reuniting with people. It really, at that point, I don't think Teresa and Gary were even out there. No. Were they yet? No. No. Right. I also just kind of accepted when you come to these that it's going to have to be messy.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Like, I don't know. Maybe I'm like, maybe I've, like, totally switched my wiring my brain to, like, understand what's normal and not. Right. But, like, you come to this and, like, you just walk in knowing something's going to be messy. it's not going to operate like 99% of your life outside of, you know, these events. Right. And you just kind of roll with it. It's funny you say that because after the wedding, there was a couple, a lady in like a bright green sequin dress or shirt dress something and I think her husband.
Starting point is 00:19:15 And they were walking from the like where the wedding ceremony took place to that like makeshift reception area with the Dan band. and the big, not beam, what do you call the huge camera? Yeah. Do you know what I'm talking about? Yeah, I thought it was kind of, I feel like the beam is. I don't know, but it's giant, like it's a giant, it's on a tractor thing. It's like on a crane kind of thing, you know, like a massive camera. And they were trying to get around it and it's moving.
Starting point is 00:19:47 And the guys around it are like, oh, be careful, you know, watch out. And of course, constantly people are telling you, oh, be careful. like there's a big hole there because there's microphones and whatever wires everywhere, right? And my thought in that moment seeing these people try to dodge this massive camera
Starting point is 00:20:05 was, oh my God, I bet that's what my wedding guests had to do with. Do you know? It was like a little look back to my wedding thinking I know that people loved being there. We took over a Rancho Mirage, which is now the Ritz now.
Starting point is 00:20:22 And so it was all are wedding guests, and so it was all wedding. But there are those little like annoyances that come with a TV wedding when you're a guest and you just want to be there supporting your friend or your family member that are part of like me and you and all of Bachelor Nation and what we've been through. It's just kind of second nature. Yeah, you just kind of like or laugh about it. Yeah. Like commercial breaks. Did you have commercial breaks during your wedding? Yes, of course. No, but we did have commercial breaks. As Ryan reminded me last night, they wanted us to do a live wedding, but it was kind of like a concession of ours. We didn't want to do a live wedding. So, you know, we filmed it,
Starting point is 00:21:07 but they filmed it like a lot of wedding. Yeah. People, I think, but I also think like last night, the commercial breaks were, again, probably more distracting for the people at home. Because once the ceremony started, it was pretty smooth. Yeah. Throughout. So I don't even know. I don't even know how they do that. Like I don't know. That is funny. I don't know how they add in commercials because like when I was looking through Twitter, they were like, oh, Gary, hold off on your vows until we get back from this commercial. I'm like, well, that's, that, there was never a pause. No, that didn't happen. So there must have been a little delay. I'm sure. Not how much though. No, I mean, it seemed really smooth. Now that you're saying that, like, my buddies were texting me when the
Starting point is 00:21:46 damn band was on being like, is that the damn band? And they're still playing on live in front of us. And it was on TV. So like, it was close. Anyways, hey, Trista, we've got a big day in front of us. We sure do. The people that were at the wedding last night are coming over here for a brunch. Sponsored by the Almost Famous Podcast. We've got to get outside and say hello to our guests. But then they're going to come in here, record with us.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Tell us about their evenings. Break down all the goodness that happened last night. Maybe not in front of our eyes. Big day. It is. It's going to be so much fun. It's going to be great. So until next time, I've been Ben.
