Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. In sitcoms, when someone has a problem, they just blurt it out and move on. Well, I lost my job and my parakeet is missing. How is your day? But the real world is different. Managing life's challenges can be overwhelming. So, what do we do? We get support.
Starting point is 00:00:22 The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Ad Council have mental health resources available for you at loveyourmindtay.org. That's loveyourmindtay.org. See how much further you can go when you take care of your mental health. I was diagnosed with cancer on Friday and cancer free the next Friday. No chemo, no radiation, none of that. On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast, I sat down with Warren Campbell, Grammy-winning producer, pastor, and music executive to talk about the beats, the business, and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop.

Starting point is 00:02:01 or wherever you get your podcasts. No such thing. This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcasts with IHartRadio. Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. This is a slew of them that you're going to get when we're here at the Golden Bachelor Wedding. We're recording this five hours before we go live,
Starting point is 00:02:24 and I'm here with one of my best friends, Jade Tolbert. Hey hey. Hey. You still Jade Roper illegally, right? I'm still Jade Roper. But on my, okay, on my marriage certificate, I signed Jade Tolbert. Oh. But I never changed any of my documents. Okay. And to me, I'm still Jade Roper, but I just go by all of them. Yeah, what do you?
Starting point is 00:02:44 In your phone, in my phone, you're Jade Tolbert. Am I? Yeah. Isn't that weird? Why would that be actually? I don't know. Did you get a new number? Because why wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:02:53 I got a Kansas City number. You did. That's why. Okay. So I saved your. new number as Jade Tolbert. And when you were Jade Roper. I go by all three. Jade Roper, Jade Roper, Toulbert,
Starting point is 00:03:05 whatever anyone wants one wants to call me. Okay. Well. Yeah. Okay. This is, I always do this. I don't know why I go on tangents with girls who got married. I guess it's because like I have this little guilt that I haven't changed my name. Oh. Because every time I have like a girlfriend on the podcast that is like married and like known by Bacheloration by both names, I'm like, what did you do?
Starting point is 00:03:26 because I just don't know. But I don't want to go through the effort. I like my name. And I like Hussein, too. And The Bachelor made me more attached to my name, obviously. But Dawson is Haven, of course. Yeah. So, you know, that's the only reason to do it is to have the last name as your kids.
Starting point is 00:03:43 It doesn't bother me, though, because people will ask me that. They're like, doesn't it bother you that you have a different name than your kids? Yeah. No. Yeah. I don't know, because they're my flesh and blood anyways. The name doesn't mean anything to me, I guess. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:03:54 The only thing is when you, like, go to the air. airport and they're like, oh, is this your kid? Are you stealing this kid? I have had that look before. Yeah. So, all right. Let's talk about Bachelor stuff because we are here at the wedding and it is I, you're my first interview of the day. So like, let's just be honest about this. And like, I, well, first I've never been to a wedding where I've never met the people before. So that's weird. And secondly, I've never been at a wedding that has felt so rush. And then I think about your wedding. And I was like, That was seven months. You guys knew each other for seven months.
Starting point is 00:04:29 And I guess Teresa and Gary have known each other four to five months now. Why did yours to me feel so much different? I guess it's because I just knew you guys and I watched your relationship. It's probably because you were there. Yeah. Yeah. You watched me and Tanner like fall in love. You like knew our relationship where we don't know Gary and Teresa.
Starting point is 00:04:45 And while we have like we watch them on TV, it's still like, I don't know, nobody does this. It's not normal. It's just so wacky. I don't know. like they've only been public for a month. Yeah. So they've only been able to like hang out and do normal people's stuff for a month. And it's not even like they've had the time to do that with the holidays and just all the press that they've had to do.
Starting point is 00:05:08 This is so crazy to me. Like I'm sorry. Like I don't think I could do it. I mean, I did it. I know. And you did it. That's why you're like the perfect person to talk to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:18 I mean, I saw them last night and it was like, I hugged her and I shook his hand. I was like, thank you for letting me crash your wedding. Yeah. but they did seem like she was glowing and they seemed really happy and I guess like at that age maybe it's just like we know what we want now and we have this connection so why not I don't know like you think it's not the paycheck and probably the paycheck okay because they're definitely getting I think a bigger paycheck than you and Tanner got for sure yeah for sure do you willing to talk about how much you is it non-disclosure thing about how much you made I don't know I mean I don't
Starting point is 00:05:55 know if it was triple it was it was it was six figures right but it wasn't high six figures low six you guys for like the lowest you can combined combined yes the lowest oh you each got combined you had low six figures yeah yeah okay and the free wedding which the wedding the wedding i can say was they told us it was over a million dollars in value and with with everything with like because they flew our family in and they paid for all of that Everyone's accommodations, like you think about flowers, food, alcohol. It was an open bar for a bachelor nation. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Everyone was wasted at my wedding. They were. A lot of alcohol. They were. So I do know that value. I'll say that. Okay. So I'm imagining this will be as equal or higher.
Starting point is 00:06:43 And it's of value, the wedding. And then I do think they're getting a bigger paycheck just because they are just huge names right now. Like, oh, my gosh. I mean, that they got the franchise. I loved the season. yeah so what were you thinking about teresa do you think that she was gonna possibly make top top one she was not my pick yeah she was not my pick i really liked faith me too she was my pick and i really liked ellen i loved ellen but see ellen was for me yeah do you know what i mean like i knew ellen wasn't for him
Starting point is 00:07:12 yeah yes yes exactly but no she was not my pick and i actually like was a little like angry i was like he's gonna pick her i know it but then i met her last night and she seems lovely so she's very nice Yeah. It's just so crazy that I'm attending somebody's wedding. I know. I wonder, how did that feel for you? Was that annoying that you had so many strangers at your wedding? It wasn't annoying. It was just kind of weird in a sense. But then we just kind of got over it, I think. And they did do the best that they could to make it feel like our wedding. But still, we were limited. We were only allowed to invite 90 people of our own. Yeah. Which adds up fast, like, I didn't even have like some cousins who. couldn't come and everything. And then there was like at least 60 people there that were strangers. So. Yeah. And there were like random D-list actors there. Like who? Like Kevin Marino was there? I don't even know that. Oh my gosh. Did you ever watch party? Was it party down? Ken Marino. Ken Marino. See? I don't even know his name. His face looks kind of familiar. He's funny. And he did buy me a wedding gift. Oh, that's sweet. Yeah. Jason Biggs was there.
Starting point is 00:08:22 oh that's right but he's a bachelor fan so that kind of makes sense and his wife was doing some of the reunion or like at the recap shows yeah oh yeah that's right okay how annoyed were some of the family members and friends of beyond the 90 that they couldn't come to the wedding because everybody's going to want to go to a televised wedding yeah I know like some of my family was hurt you know because but then it was like I can't I just blamed it on the show it's like I have zero control over this like you didn't make the cut I'm sorry Yeah My boyfriend's professor Is way too friendly And now I'm seriously suspicious Oh wait a minute Sam
Starting point is 00:09:05 Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit Well Dakota It's back to school week on the okay story time podcast So we'll find out soon This person writes My boyfriend has been hanging out With his young professor a lot He doesn't think it's a problem
Starting point is 00:09:17 But I don't trust her Now he's insisting we get to know each other but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them.
Starting point is 00:09:33 I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hello, it's Honey German. And my podcast, Grazis, come again, is back. This season, we're going even deeper
Starting point is 00:09:56 into the world of music and entertainment with raw and honest conversations with some of your favorite Latin artists and celebrities. You didn't have to audition? No, I didn't audition. I haven't audition in, like, over 25 years. Oh, wow. That's a real G-talk right there.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Oh, yeah. We've got some of the biggest actors, musicians, content creators, and culture shifters sharing their real stories of failure and success. You were destined to be a start. We talk all about what's viral and trending with a little bit of chisement, a lot of laughs, and those amazing Vibras you've come to expect.
Starting point is 00:10:31 And of course, we'll explore deeper topics dealing with identity, struggles, and all the issues affecting our Latin community. You feel like you get a little whitewash because you have to do the code switching? I won't say whitewash because at the end of the day, you know, I'm me. But the whole pretending and code, you know, it takes a toll on you. Listen to the new season of Grasasas Come Again as part of My Cultura Podcast Network
Starting point is 00:10:51 on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in the backlog will be at. identified in our lifetime.
Starting point is 00:11:19 A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors. And you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases, to finally solve the unsolved.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, sis, what if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance, bro, tell you how to manage your money again. Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards. If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem a year from now. When you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates. I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these
Starting point is 00:12:34 streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt when it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it. and in fact it may get even worse. For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Okay, yours wasn't live, though.
Starting point is 00:13:04 No, and that of us, I can't believe this one is live. How? How is this going to be live tonight? I am so confused. Does Trista's live? I do believe they've done them in the past. Like, I remember having to tune it at a certain time. and like it like being like oh my god I can't believe this is happening now maybe it was
Starting point is 00:13:21 was it Sean and Catherine's or Ashley and JP or something like that but one of those rings about as being live as well yeah but like this is so much work for them and I don't even know how they're going to fill up the two hours because I guess the ceremony will be I don't know 45 minutes and then what are they going to show so in a show reception you think that I think they'll show like that pre-cocktail hour before the wedding because that's what they did at ours. So we were stuck.
Starting point is 00:13:54 I remember I was in my bridal suite and everyone else was like downstairs. They made us stay back and like all the Bachelor Nation alum were downstairs drinking. I think they were like interviewing at that point. And then they were I don't know. But.
Starting point is 00:14:09 I don't know. I have no idea how they're going to and they'll probably cut to like maybe they'll interview couples and they'll be like, here's a recap of their love story you think they have like pre-packaged stuff because how would you else i don't know i don't know i also i want to know how it is financially like feet like not feasible but like worth it to them to send all of us out for this to pay for all our flights to pay for all the rooms i'm like you think that our little blip on tv our presence of the wedding means this much i mean like thank you
Starting point is 00:14:42 but wow like do you think that it would have been just fine with Bachelor Nation if it was just the Golden Bachelor cast yeah but I also think that with the show just the past few years how I don't feel like viewership has been as high
Starting point is 00:14:58 and they're really writing on this Golden Bachelor love story that they want to bring in they brought in a lot of like success couples I think that this is like a big show off like it's like a show and tell of like how guess what we actually do work and you forgot about them and you forgot about them. Because people have been complaining, especially
Starting point is 00:15:16 after this last Bachelor in Paradise, where no couples came out of it. They're just like, they're not casting the right people anymore and no love stories happen anymore. So they're like, look what we have for you. They actually have a, okay, we have a ton. We have a ton of Bachelor and Paradise stories. And there's a couple that I don't think that are here today. And that frustrates me. I'm like, if we're going to do this, let's make sure everyone is here. Even those that people that like Bachelor maybe doesn't like want to have here like who okay well like i i would love to have them on to discuss this but i hear that like dylan and hannah don't have the greatest relationship with the show and i don't think that they're going to be here yeah that's right then okay well obviously joe and serena
Starting point is 00:15:56 great relationship but they're not going to be here um great relationship with the show i mean and then sean and katherine also and jojo and jordan i wanted to see everyone here together so we could have a big parade of the successes yeah yeah it's well it's time. All right. Well, and it's also just an ironic week for them to have this wedding since like one of their couples got divorced. Isn't it crazy? I'm talking about Rachel and Bryant guys, but isn't it crazy that a couple years ago, we had the most amazing track record of marriages staying together. And then in like three years, we've had four divorces. COVID. I know. It all happened that COVID was Ashley and JP, Carly and Evan.
Starting point is 00:16:41 and then Crystal and Chris and then now Rachel's right life is hard you know like I don't know marriage is hard sometimes and so I feel like there's so much pressure on bachelor people to not be normal humans and have these like fairy tale relationships still and so it's like it sucks like divorce sex and and people are going to assume what they want to assume and people get divorced and stuff but I feel I don't know there's a part of me that has like a soft spot like feel like for them because they have to go through this publicly and that's not easy already like i mean i remember when carly got divorced like how hard it was for her and it's like then you have to deal with all the opinions and i mean literally watch your relationship yeah and i get it like we put ourselves in
Starting point is 00:17:27 that position and it is how we make our livings and so it's like i get that it it has a right to be public in some way but like i mean marriage is hard and then throw in all the whatever, in the public eye stuff. Yeah. But it's juicy right now. It is juicy. And then we have two people here. I mean, we'll go there.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Let's just go there, right? We have two people coming to the wedding today that probably don't want to see each other. And that would be probably, probably, Kately and Tasia. Because we have Caitlin this week seeing that she spent New Year's with Zach Clark, Tasha's ex. how do you think that this might go tonight? Do you think, oh, and I hate to even bring this up, because you and I,
Starting point is 00:18:18 I became drama at your wedding with Jared, and they made my story part of your wedding episode. Do you think that they'll bring drama from Bachelor Nation into the episode tonight? They have to. Oh, really? You think so? Yeah, I think so. I feel like they love this stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Well, I mean, we, you know, we as podcasters, love this stuff too. As friends, we hope the best for everyone. But I was just thinking that because people have loved the Golden Bachelor for its lack of drama that maybe they weren't going to bring that into tonight. But it's so fresh. How do they not capitalize? Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:18:58 I'm just thinking as an evil producer right now, obviously. Yes. No, I definitely think producers will be scheming tonight. Really? Yes. Okay. I think because, like you say, said, there has to be other parts to this special.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Yeah. Because the wedding's not going to last two hours. And no, it'll be just boring watching a normal wedding. They're going to pull people aside. There's going to be scheming. All the producers from those girls' seasons are kind of gone. So I wonder who they're going to be able to get to, like, really make them open up. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Yeah. Because you need somebody trustworthy if they're going to pull them into an interview. All right. Well, we don't even know what's going to happen. But I'm being a drama queen right now. And honestly, because I love Tasia and Caitlin's separate. separately. I hope nothing but the best of them tonight.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Hope they don't get into drama, but I know that the... I know Tanner will be hoping something happens tonight. Tanner would love to narrate if he's able to be a witness of it. Yeah, he wants to get the popcorn out, you know? All right. Well, Jade, thanks so much for chatting with with me about this. We love you so much. Love you. Until next time, I've been Ashley and you've been Jay.
