I always had to be so good, no one could ignore me.
Carve my path with data and drive.
But some people only see who I am on paper.
The paper ceiling.
The limitations from degree screens to stereotypes that are holding back over 70 million stars.
Workers skilled through alternative routes rather than a bachelor's degree.
It's time for skills to speak for themselves.

I'm Simone Boyce, host of the Brightside podcast,
and on this week's episode,
I'm talking to Olympian, World Cup Champion,
and podcast host, Ashlyn Harris.
My worth is not wrapped up in how many things I've won,
because what I came to realize is I valued winning so much
that once it was over, I got the blues,
and I was like, this is it.
For me, it's the pursuit of people.
greatness. It's the journey. It's the people. It's the failures. It's the heartache.

I was diagnosed with cancer on Friday
and cancer free the next Friday. No chemo, no
radiation, none of that. On a recent episode of Culture
Rases Us podcast, I sat down with
Warren Campbell, Grammy winning producer,
and music executive to talk about the beats, the business,
and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop.
Professionally, I started at Death World Records.
From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music
and the purpose that drives it.

This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeartRadio.
It's the Golden Wedding.
Yes, we are here.
are excited and I am with one of the best people in the world. Wells Adams.
Hi, Ben. How are you? I'm ecstatic. Are you? I'm ecstatic. That's good. We get to go to a
wedding tonight. We've been too many weddings together. Way too many weddings. A lot over the last
two years. I went to nine this past year. That's your problem. You have so many friends.
I'm taking no more friends. We are not accepting any more friendships. And we're only allowing
married couples to be our friends
unless they're getting close to like
divorce. This feels like something you've spoken about.
If they're close to divorce, we're not
taking them in because there's a chance there might be
a remarried. Another wedding.
We can't do it. And it multiplies. Yeah.
How will you know Gary and Teresa?
I don't know
Teresa very well, if I'm being honest. I've never met her.
I've met her
and I think now twice. She's very lovely.
I met Gary because we did
a like a premiere
night because
BIP and Golden Bachelor premiered the same night.
So we went to like a party and I got to hang out with him and his two daughters who are
really, really cool.
So I'm very excited to celebrate the nuptials of Gary and Teresa.
You know, it's kind of the give of getting married on national television in the Bachelor
world where people who have been on the show before get invited, even if you don't necessarily
know them well.
Yeah.
And I've been around Gary.
multiple times now. I did a whole shooting with him that never got aired. We did a whole day together
where we went to watch parties. It was never on television. Wow. Really? Oh yeah. They cut something
good. No way. It was good too. I bet it was. In my opinion, it was fantastic. Yeah, I believe it.
And so, you know, I got to spend that day with him, got to be with him last night at the bar. And so
one of the deals with kind of the golden wedding or the bachelor weddings in general is it's a reunion.
in. Like, we're seeing people here who we don't get to see that often. Like, I can see you. I could see
Dean and Jared and Ashley. But other than that, there's a lot of people here. I don't see very
often. Yeah. And that's always a lot of fun, I think. Totally. Uh, Caitlin Bristow came into the bar
last night. Is that weird for you a while? Never weird. Yeah. Always exciting. It's very weird because
you dated each other on TV one time. Yeah. Yeah. She's sweet. Yeah. She's in the headlines right now.
Did you know that?
It's a bit of rocky week for Bachelor Nation.
A lot's going on in the world.
Is everything good with you and Jess?
This is fantastic.
Thank God.
Yeah.
We're very quiet.
Yeah.
So Caitlin was here.
She's, you know, obviously somebody people are, somebody people are speaking about.
Yeah.
Also, we got to play golf today with Chris, who is married to Des.
Desiree, yeah.
Yeah, that's exciting.
He's so cool.
It's so cool.
the way like so we played with chris and then jason um and there's a bunch of people here that were like
before my time and they're like i didn't watch the show then okay and so it's lovely to meet them but like i have
no perception of like i didn't watch desire's season i didn't watch jason was the bachelor's season right
i didn't i didn't watch those seasons either i mean i was young yeah like very i mean i was
jason was the bachelor east and can we get a year that jason mesnick was the bachelor
I mean it's it's got to be 2009 so that's 15 years ago give or take some months
you know I was 18 years old yeah I wasn't watching the show no yeah but it's so nice to
to meet them and we were talking with Jason on the ride back from the golf course and he was like
yeah I've got a kid in college whoa yeah from the show right he married Molly who's on the show
and so like now I guess that kid his kid is going to be on the show
in like four years.
Yeah.
And then they came in.
They conjoined families back in the day.
Jason had had some kids before.
Oh,
really?
Yeah.
So they,
you know,
brought the family together.
And now that,
you know,
he has a kid in college,
which is wild to think about.
I don't even have a kid.
That you know of.
I know of.
I have a dog.
And then Joey,
the next bachelor played golf with us today.
Do you not say his last name?
No idea.
Me neither.
I'll call him Joey G.
Not even the true.
eye. I mean, it's like Garoppolo, Joey G. Yeah. Yeah. He's really awesome. Super sweet guy.
I'm very sad for us. He's, he's really hot. He heard it here first, folks. He's a good looking
dude. I was just happy that I beat him in golf today. I'm throwing that out there. You play great.
Just so everyone knows. If you want people to know, yes, Wells is really good to golf and he beat me
again. I beat you, but more I'm moreover, I beat the like the young stud. Yeah, the new country club
tennis pro at golf. And that makes me feel really good inside. Well, from here on out,
he's going to have respect for you, which is such a big deal. As he should. Yeah, he should. Don't
mess with me. Joey G. Dean and Jared and Tanner as well along with Adam got chalk. We all played golf.
It was a great morning. So as we get less than 15 minutes away from this wedding, we are,
on the verge of walking down the aisle on live television to celebrate Gary and Teresa, which
we said, nobody here, well, at least you and I, it's odd that we're here. We don't know
them super intimately. Yeah. But we are part of the same Bachelor family. And so it is a reunion
of sorts. And we're excited to be here and celebrate them. What are you most excited for tonight?
The drinks. And I happen to know who the band is. I'm excited.
for the band. It's the Dan band who like if you've ever seen um wedding crashers um or I think
they were also in Starsky and Hutch. Do you know what I'm talking about? Yeah. They like add
cuss words to songs. To beautiful like love songs. Yeah. Yeah. It was in the rehearsal thing
last night and I got to see the Dan band perform and I was like oh this is going to be really,
really fun okay yeah so the band um the drinks yeah the community the company and the love do you get
i mean you went to nine weddings this year do you still get emotional when you see i have i get
emotional every wedding i will say that yeah i uh am a softy it it'll be interesting because i saw
how the wedding's gonna go yeah i don't know if i will be as emotional as i as i normally would be but i think
that yeah i'll think i'll probably
squirt out a couple tears yeah i always do
like weddings are such a
it's one of the things that always brings something
out of me did you cry at dean and calens
oh yeah i did too did you cry at harrison's oh goodness
yes yeah i did too did we go to any other weddings together
this year uh did you cry at my wedding
oh dude i was bawling at your wedding oh yeah
your wedding was very emotional because i mean it was a beautiful setting
obviously yeah there'd been a lot of time in between leading up to that year
Yeah. And I just think it's cool to see a friend, like make this commitment to somebody else and to know what that means because I've been married for two years. So I had been married when I went to your wedding. And so to see like friends make the commitment to know the good and the bad and also, but the beautiful that comes from it all is emotional me. I don't know how tonight will be because Gary's, you know, in his 70s. Teresa is in her 60s or 70s.
yeah but uh i think i'll be as emotional as ever we uh wells are getting the hey let's wrap
because we have quick yeah we have 10 minutes to be checked in ready to go walking down the aisle
and so when somebody listens to this they'll know that you and i are getting prepped to walk
to close out what is you're going to be your like mental you're a good golfer and so you have
a swing thought what is your walking down the aisle thought today i want to get some wd 40 for that door
That's number one.
My swing thought for walking down the aisle.
Well, I have to do some like bartender bit.
So I want to get done with that.
Okay.
And then I think it will be,
I think I want to be the shoulder that you cry on tonight
because I think that you and I are sitting next to one another.
We're dates?
Yeah, because both of our wives didn't come
of this.
Okay.
No, I'm excited.
I'll tell you this, man, I have been so incredibly impressed by Gary and, like, his ability
to speak.
He, like, is such a natural orator.
And so I imagine the things that he's going to say are going to touch a lot of people
like they have on the show.
And I know that, like, obviously, like, their vows would be very amazing, amazing.
But I do know at the end of the ceremony, he is going to give some big speech to everybody.
and I don't know exactly what he's going to say
and I'm excited for that.
So I think that my swing thought is just to like
be really, really excited for what's to come.
Be present, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Should I take off my shirt on live television tonight?
I would love that.
Okay.
So much.
Let's do it.
