It is all about finding love for Mercedes Northup and Deanna Pappas. Today, I'm handing over the hosting duties to another Bachelor Nation alum, Rachel Rechia. She's jumping in to take over and find out what kind of guy exactly is Mercedes type.
Starting point is 00:03:18 I also sent them off to the Bottle Rock concert to maybe see how Mercedes does out in a setting where she can mix and mingle. I can't wait to hear how all this went down. So take it away, Rachel. Hi, Mercedes. Hello. I'm so excited to do this with you. I know. We have so much to chat about.
Starting point is 00:03:37 We do. Because I feel like we dated the same exact people, but our types are so different. So I can't. We can't. And with that being said, we are here at the IHeart Verbo podcast house. And we are absolutely loving this Italian-inspired villa, Mercedes. What's been your favorite part? I love the pool.
Starting point is 00:03:58 The pool is stunning. I know. We cannot wait to dive in after this. After this, we are going to be by the pool for a long time. It is truly like stepping into a dream. This is just one of their amazing properties you can find on Verbo. Check out their 2025 vacation rentals of the year and book your next getaway on the Verbo app. Plus, you can earn rewards with their one key program. It's a great deal. Okay, Mercedes. Today we're going to do a deep dive into what your type is. You're putting yourself back out there. And there's a lot of back.
Starting point is 00:04:30 bad guys in the pond. So what are you looking for? Like what is the age range you typically like to date? Um, I like to go a little older. I love that. Not like mature. Yes, because I feel like men's brains are like behind like six years. Genuinely are. Like plus six. No, literally. So I definitely like a little older. I would say like 30 to 35 is like kind of what I look for. Ready to settle down. Yes. Ready for kids. Hopefully. But then again, I've like, do I want? Do I want? kids? Yes. Okay. Yeah. Me too. It's like a big thing to like look for like a guy who wants that as well. Do you like younger at all? Have you ever tried dating you? No, I haven't. No. I mean like I've maybe talked to like a couple of youngers but I'm like I don't even take them seriously because I'm like there's
Starting point is 00:05:16 just no way. I love a younger guy. Do you actually? I actually do. I'm literally dying because we have like these same ex-boyfriends on the show. Literally. Yeah, no, I'm definitely older if I had to choose for sure older could have been married would you ever date someone who's been divorced yeah if it's like a I don't know it's so hard I guess it just depends on the situation like if it's like still messy and they're like in it still because you know like after divorce sometimes you can still like have ties to everything I feel like it's ever really over yeah in that situation like especially when it happens young yeah like I know what did you do first of all what did you do right read the rapport what's the I wouldn't say, where was that money?
Starting point is 00:06:01 No, seriously. No, actually. I need to know what happened because that's like a huge thing. I've thought about that before. Yeah, I know because you're like, yeah, why didn't it work out? Like what happened? Yeah. No, I definitely would have.
Starting point is 00:06:13 I would be open to it, but I would have to know like a lot of details. What about if they like had kids and we're doing like, would you date someone that already had kids? Yeah. Yeah. Just because, well, okay, because my mom had me and then my dad dated her. And I'm like, oh my gosh, like he was like the best thing that happened to me. So I feel like I would definitely step up.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Oh my God, wait, I love that. Yeah. Yeah. And I love kids. Yes. I can see it. I can see it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:39 We obviously want to get married. We want to have kids. All right. Let's get down to like situations. So if a guy says his last relationship ended because he cheated, would you still date him? He cheated? Yeah. This is a tough one.
Starting point is 00:06:55 This is tough. No, that actually is. really tough question. Have you ever been cheated on in a relationship? Not that I know of, but I have like a feeling that it happens. We all probably have. Everyone's a cheater. No, seriously. Yeah, not that I know of. But I don't know. I feel like the saying like once a cheater, always a cheater is kind of like real. No, it literally is. Yeah. So I'm like, okay, if you're going to cheat on her, then you'll probably cheat on me. And like what was she doing that you felt? Because there's always a story. Yes. Like even when my situation happened, like when I got cheated,
Starting point is 00:07:27 And I was like, oh, because she was acting this way than I had. They always want to blame. They always want to blame. So it's like, what are we going to be doing when they cheat on us? Yeah. Yeah, no, it's always, there's always a story to it. And I'm like, no, you just. You're just a cheater.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Just like, can you, like, be loyal for one moment? Sorry, like, I'm being a little bit negative. But men just, they need to be put in their place a little bit. Yeah. Especially with this dating pool. And the dating pool that me and Mercedes are in, especially, like, the guys who have been on reality TV. It's like they, you know, they're interesting. I feel like we could go on about that.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Okay. Do you, oh, I feel like you would. Do you like the guy with tattoos? I do. I feel like you would. Yeah. I like imagine Mercedes type is like rip from Yellowstone. Yes.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Oh my gosh. Literally to a tea. And he could like throw you around. Yes, exactly. Like that is, if you're a rip from Yellowstone, please hit up my friend Mercedes. We are on the lookout for some cowboys here at Bottle Rock tonight. And with tattoos. Yes.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Okay. This is a good one, too. Does height matter? You dated a short king. I know. I know. Actually, I've dated a couple, like, not short. I would say like 511, which is that considered short?
Starting point is 00:08:41 Tyler was 511? No, he was he? I don't know. There's no one. I feel like me and him were like. Same height? Not same. But I can wear heels and probably like.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Yeah. Well, when I wore heels, we were like the same height. Yeah. So I'm like, and I'm 5-7. Tyler, how tall are you? We're dragging her into this. He's like, I'm fully engaged and I want nothing to do with either of you.
Starting point is 00:09:02 And I don't blame him. Yeah. Congratulations, by the way. I know, right? No, they're, yeah. But so my first ex, he was like 511. So he was a little shorter. So I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:15 I mean, I definitely like love like a tall man. Like when I see a tall man, I'm like, whoa. Like you like get bumped up a little bit. But I don't think if he was shorter, I'd be like completely cut him out. I feel like with a taller guy I'll let more red flags Like slip through the cracks Because he's tall
Starting point is 00:09:30 And it's like How are you supposed to get a guy He's tall and perfect Like literally He can get away with a little more Unfortunately No if you're 6 5 You can
Starting point is 00:09:37 You do anything No it's so true Like Every inch you are above 6 foot The more and more Slip That's so true If you're 6 5 and you cheat
Starting point is 00:09:53 I mean, then, babe, don't just don't do it again. Don't do it again. Come on. But if you're 511, do it, you're out. Yeah. No, it's like one straight, you're out. You have to be perfect, but not saying you wouldn't date. Because height doesn't matter, guys.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Of course not. Yeah. Okay. So what are the biggest red flags you won't tolerate? I feel like if they, like, talk, like, crap about their family. Like, I feel like that's such a red flag. Like, if you're, like, especially like your mom or something. I don't know, unless the situation's weird.
Starting point is 00:10:26 No, it's so true. I feel like your ex. I feel like talking an ex too. Yeah. Honestly, just talking shit about anyone. I feel like that, like if you have like a negative like vibe about that and I'm like, like, that's a red flag that I don't like. Have you ever dated a guy that like didn't have a lot of close friends?
Starting point is 00:10:43 Yeah. Kind of one of them. Yeah. Because I like met all his friends later on. But he didn't have like friends from childhood and I'm like, that's right. It's a little weird, isn't it? Now that's kind of something I look for and I'm like, okay, who are your friends? Like, what are your friends like?
Starting point is 00:10:58 Because if they don't have a lot of people that want to be close to them, I'm like, what's wrong with you? No, and like your friend group, like, tell so much about you. Especially, like, as you get older. Like, if you look at your friends, you'll know, like, what that person's like. Because you really are, like, kind of a mesh of, like, the people that you surround yourself with. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Yeah. No, genuinely. I could think of so many red flags, though. Been on TV. Would you date someone else who's been on TV? maybe. Yeah. I think so. Yeah. Yeah. So that's not a red flag for you yet. Yeah. Yeah. After she goes on Farmer as a wife. If we don't find her husband at Barat, that's where she's going next. Okay. Who's your celebrity crush? Um, okay, this is kind of a hot take. Okay, I want to hear it.
Starting point is 00:11:42 The Yovonne. Wait, I see it. I think she's into the funny guys. No, I am. I think he's literally so funny. Like I genuinely have like a crush on him. Oh my God. Wait. So you're like all personality. Yes. I mean he's is it's, Which is you say he's attractive? I don't know. It's his personality. He's, it's, yeah, sometimes guys can be like, like, like, you first see him. You're like, okay, they're not that cute. And then they're so funny.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Are they're pretty, like, and then they're like, amazing. Yes. And you're like, oh, wait, you're hot. Yeah. No, I feel like, because when I, like, first, like, started like, because I didn't even know who Theo was like two years ago, probably. And then he, like, it's all over. Um, sometimes. I just, like, most of the same on, like, TikTok and stuff.
Starting point is 00:12:21 And I think he's so funny. But then, like, I feel like I watched, like, three TikToks. I'm like, oh my gosh, like, I love you. Like, do you want to have my babies? Yes, there, no. Like, have you ever slid into his DMs? No, I'm too scared. Why?
Starting point is 00:12:35 He lives in Nashville, though. Shoot. Theo Vaughn, if you are listening to this, please slide into my friend Mercedes DMs. Wait, we're doing that later. After we have three glasses of wine, we'll be like, yeah, we're messaging him. Oh my gosh. Have you ever had a celebrity guy slide into your DMs? Definitely have.
Starting point is 00:12:55 yeah maybe i mean i feel like in nashville there's just like like singers and stuff but no no one like huge okay no cowboys no yellowstone i don't think i would date another singer i will say that because i dated a singer what was it about the singer they're just uh just not it red flag yes that's a red flag for me is it like because they're like up and coming like the fame seeking sort of a thing yeah and they're just like very just so focused like on themselves and nothing else matters. Because, like, when I was dating my ex, he was, like, obviously, like, trying to be a whatever.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And I told him, I'm like, a country singer. You just trying to make it Nashville. Literally. And I asked him, I'm like, okay, so five years down the road, if we're still, like, where we're at, where we're at right now, like, and I'm ready to, like, be married and, like, start having a family. And he's like, oh, yeah, no, that's not happening. Like, I'm going to do my thing forever until I make it.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I'm like, so you'll be 40 and still try. And he's like, yeah. I'm like, okay, yeah, no. He's just, like, putting himself first to 100%. Like, there has to be a give and take, and you're just not feeling that with the country singers. Yeah, and I feel like they're all like that. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Definitely not. That's where they go to, like, this, you make it or you don't. I know. Yeah, it's a crazy. And if they're no singers. No singers. I'm Jorge Ramos. And I'm Paola Ramos.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Together we're launching The Moment, a new podcast. us about what it means to live through a time as uncertain as this one. We sit down with politicians. I would be the first immigrant mayor in generations, but 40% of New Yorkers were born outside of this country. Artists and activists, I mean, do you ever feel demoralized? I might personally lose hope. This individual might lose the faith,
Starting point is 00:14:46 but there's an institution that doesn't lose faith. And that's what I believe in. To bring you death and analysis from a unique Latino perspective. There's not a single day that Paola and I don't call or text each other, sharing news and thoughts about what's happening in the country. Starting point is 00:16:45 On the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts Or wherever you get your podcasts All I know is what I've been told, and that's a half-truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved, until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know Quincy killed her. We know. A story that law enforcement used to convict six people, and that got the citizen investigator
Starting point is 00:17:23 on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer,
Starting point is 00:17:37 and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her and I did not kill her, or rape or burn, or any of that other stuff that y'all said. They literally made me say
Starting point is 00:17:48 that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her. From Lava for Good, this is Graves County, a show about just how far our legal system will go in order to find someone to blame. America, y'all better work the hell up. Bad things happens to good people in small towns. Listen to Graves County in the Bone Valley feed on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. and to binge the entire season ad-free,
Starting point is 00:18:25 subscribe to Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of the On Purpose podcast. Today, I'm joined by Emma Watson. Emma Watson. Emma Watson has apparently quit acting. Emma Watson has announced she's retiring from acting. Has anyone else noticed that we haven't seen Emma Watson in anything in several, years. Emma Watson is opening up the truth behind her five-year break from acting. Watson said she
Starting point is 00:18:59 wasn't very happy. Was acting always something you were going to do? I was using acting as a way of escaping to feel free. My parents, it wasn't just the divorce, it was just like the continuing situation of living between two different houses and two different lives and two different sets of values, the career and the life that looks like the dream. But are you really happy? Fame has given me this extraordinary power. It's also given me a lot of responsibility. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What would you describe, like, physically?
Starting point is 00:19:43 Like, what do you like? Are you like nice teeth, eyes? Like, what is it about? I love good teeth. That's, like, the first thing I look at is teeth. Like, I really pay attention. And then I like dark hair, like dark features and like pretty eyes. Like light eyes?
Starting point is 00:20:00 Yes. And I just like, I love a pretty boy. Oh my God. It's so unfortunate. It's so unfortunate, but I love a pretty boy. A pretty boy, but also a cowboy. Yes. I know.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Like, I need you to be able to go home to Isla and like be on the farm, but also like you need to be sexy. Yes. I feel like my type is like I love the pretty boys and I'm trying to like get away from that because that type has not been working. Yeah. So we need a pretty boy who also thinks he's not. Like, I also don't want him to think he's prettier than me.
Starting point is 00:20:31 True. And these guys do. No, I know it's so unfortunate. They, like, these guys want you to chase them and, like, pay for dinner and, like, they want to be princess baby girl. No. And that's just not. Like, you cannot be. There's only room for a one.
Starting point is 00:20:44 But don't they? No, it's so true. There's an epidemic of Princess baby girls running around in Nashville. No, it's so scary. It's horrifying. Truly, what is going on out here? I don't know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:57 If a guy mean flirts, is that a turn on or a turn off? I think it depends. Mostly, probably turn off. Yeah, I feel like it's only okay when we do it. Yeah, like, I'm like, what are you doing? You can't bully me. Yeah, like, that's crazy. Get out of here.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Yeah, no, I feel like that's a turn off for sure. Definitely not. Unless we're like, yeah no actually there's no excuse yeah no we're done with that question okay I like this one I'm actually really excited to hear your take so guys who cry do you think emotions are hot or does it give you the oh my gosh she hates it no I hate it I hate it so much like you know that like me where it's like the girl with the broom and you're like they're there there like they're petting you yeah it's like I don't know I just don't know how to like I'm like why you're an aries yeah yeah so you're very fiery so you can't
Starting point is 00:21:53 deal with like no like I feel like I'm like with my friends I'm really good emotions but like guy friend or like guys or that I'm talking to or like yeah like it happened on the beach like there was someone that cried on my shoulder and I was just like who was it there it was um oh why am I forgetting his name that's so bad the first guy that uh Kylie went on a date with will well yeah cried to no which was so sweet like I'm like oh you sweet angel he is he's very emotional and he's so sweet like I love him but I was like this is just not for me so you want to be like or do you feel like you're emotional like with a partner yeah but only when I get really comfortable like not out of the out of the gate no so you need someone like that's
Starting point is 00:22:37 going to be there to support you you don't want to like be the one like coddling all the emotions but like once in a while they cry once in a while is fine she's like you can cry once a year and I will tally it no more after that no and obviously like I would like I would like I I'm good with emotions, but I feel like I have to be, like, connected really deep to be like, oh my gosh, like, let me like take care of you, you know? Totally. Not just like a crush. You can't just be crying all the time.
Starting point is 00:23:03 If it's like a crush and you're crying, I'm like, oh. But if it's like crying over you, like he's like so emotional because he like, he's like yearning. He was crying. No? Okay. Next question. Okay. Are you looking for someone who identifies as religious or spiritual?
Starting point is 00:23:19 I know you are religious. Yes. So is that something you are also looking for in a partner? That's really important to be on the same page. No, for sure. Yeah. And if they're not, like, I just want them to be open to religion. Like, they don't have to be, like, practicing or anything.
Starting point is 00:23:32 But if they're like, okay, like, I respect you. Like, I respect what you think. And they're, like, open to whatever, then I'm okay with that, too. It's not like I need, like, someone who's like. The same exact. Yes. What if it was someone who wasn't religious, but, like, fully supportive of you and, like, was, like, I'll go to church with you.
Starting point is 00:23:50 I'll, like, bring my kids up in the church wherever you want. But, like, I personally am not that religious. Would that be something you were okay with? I feel like I'd be okay with that. Okay. Yeah. Just, like, open. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:00 That's actually really big. I think that's a huge question. I always forgot to ask that on the show, too. I know. I always forget to ask that, too. Yeah, because I was like, oh, I should have probably talked about that. Like, that's pretty important. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:13 What kind of hair do you like on a guy? Short, long, color. Was you ever dated a bald guy? A bald guy. Yeah, would you? I don't know. One of the girls from our show. show she's about to get married and her future husband is bald and it's actually kind of hot yeah
Starting point is 00:24:28 I think I can't the beard yeah I don't think yeah I feel like I mean it would just be depending on how he rocked it yes for sure he would have to have the vibe yeah oh my gosh yeah for sure I used to love a man with long hair like if you had a man bun in college I don't see that no in college in college did you had to braid his hair as well no I'm curl it no I literally but like seriously if you had a man bun Like, same with the 6-5. Like, if you had a manned one, you could do whatever you. Like, I'm, like, this is the most shocking information you for now. I cannot see you with the long-air guy.
Starting point is 00:25:00 And I still do, like, kind of like, not like long as long as I did in college, but like a mullet, like one of those like, oh, yes. I was going to ask, okay, because the mullet and mustache is like the thing, but it like kind of, like, started in like Nashville like that, like the country singers. Yeah, I'm kind of into it. I'm so into it. Is it still in there? Are the guys, like, changing now? No, literally everyone looks at. same in Nashville because everyone has the mustache and the hair. Wait, I love that. Maybe I need to
Starting point is 00:25:28 come to Nashville just because I just want to look at them. Like, truly. Okay, when it comes to making moves, do you like to be bold and take the lead or do you like men who are more forward? I like men who are more forward. Me too. I like feeling like a little princess that's being like, you know? Pursued. Yeah. I feel like that we want to be pursued so bad and like it's just not. Like when I go out to the bars like I can not tell you it had to be like over a year ago last time someone came up to me oh I know no it's actually crazy no one none of the guys do they're not coming up I know I that's why people said like I need to go like overseas to me people because apparently they go up to you yeah they do which is like what why is that happening over there but not here like what did we
Starting point is 00:26:10 where did we go wrong I think culturally like well so I was in england like last year with my friend jill and we would just be walking by a pub and the guys like start trying to talk to you because I think they just, it's like normal for them to talk to everyone. Yeah. And it's not, I think here guys are like afraid to be rejected. It's not as like normal to just talk to everyone. Yeah. Which I wish it was.
Starting point is 00:26:31 It would be so much easier to meet someone. And it's just way more fun. Like I want to go out and I want to meet people. Like even if I'm not like, we're not like, like, trying to date. Just like just meeting a friend. Yeah. It's hard. Like even that doesn't even really happen.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Do you feel like in Nashville like, because there are like a lot of bars? Is it still hard to like meet a guy? out in that scene like guys are just what are they doing just sitting at the bar drinking a beer yeah really well okay because Nashville's also starting to get like very like clubby a little bit so like it's like tables now too oh my gosh I cannot do another club I think I'm over the age limit yeah yeah yeah no I just moved to east Nashville which it's like more like dive barry which that is like yeah more chill like they're just like drinking beer chilling at the bar playing pool or something they're not coming up to you no are you on like any of the apps
Starting point is 00:27:20 I'm on Raya, but Raya's just not... Oh, my God, I can't get on Raya. What? I've been on the wait list for Raya for three years. Are you serious? Dad, they hate me. Oh my gosh, wait, what? Have you tried, like, Hinge?
Starting point is 00:27:32 I heard Hinge is good. I had Hinge for, like, two days, and it was a very scary place. Hannah Brown met her. Shut up. She told me, yeah, she was like, you need to get on Hinge. I've been meaning to do it. Wait, okay, maybe I should give it more time then. Maybe, I'm probably going to send you into, like, a spiral.
Starting point is 00:27:48 She's going to meet the worst man of her life. on Hinge, and it's going to be my fault. I'm at my ex on Hinge, actually. Did you before the show? Oh, my God. Yeah. Maybe we... But, like, where else do we supposed to meet people?
Starting point is 00:28:00 No, it's crazy. I don't know. Dating shows, not it. Well, maybe it could work when she goes on Farmer's wife, but next to have the Hinge, the guys on Rye at her don't, like, talk, right? No. And it's like, you match with people that are, like, in London or, like, I live in Nashville and they'll be in L.A.
Starting point is 00:28:16 True. It's fine. It's fine. It really is. Speaking of a guy international, texting phone calls, FaceTime, how are you when you communicate with your go-to? I like calls. I think calling's fun. I like FaceTime, too, but also like FaceTime, you need to tell me when you're going to FaceTime me.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Exactly. Like, it cannot be a random FaceTime. No, I have my face mask on. Or else you'll literally see just my eyes. Like, I'll be like, yeah, what's up? No, genuinely. I like, do not call me without letting me know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:47 This is a big one, too. What's your love language? um i feel like quality time yeah like i like just spending time with you and it could be like just random things like going to the grocery store the grocery store yeah just like everyday things i also love okay people hate when i say this but like gifts like if you but not like gifts they're thoughtful yes but it's like oh i was walking on the street and i saw this like bookmark and i like got it for you i'm like that's so like that makes my heart like so happy where I'm like oh my gosh you thought like the little thing yeah it's a thought yeah okay so wrapping it all up because I feel like we've like gone over
Starting point is 00:29:27 so much what's the biggest thing you're looking for right now in a partner like if you had to design your perfect partner what are you looking for um someone who is just like nice easygoing the bar is solo no the bar not nice Mercedes let's give a little more like perfect guy Perfect guy. Besides just being a good human. I don't know. Someone who just... I don't know.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Has a house and a car and a job? Yeah. Yeah. Someone who, like, has their life, like, on the right track, for sure. Yeah, I don't know. Honestly, though, like, when I think about it, I'm like, I just want someone who, like, is, again, on the right track. Someone who's nice, has a good family, wants kids, and is cute, and a cat. way. And is that too much to ask for people? No. No, it's not. We gotta find him. And we're gonna find
Starting point is 00:30:25 him tonight at Bottle Rock. I feel like we have a good idea of the kind of man you're looking for and we're about to head out to the concert, but we'll keep our eyes open. Starting point is 00:33:22 All I know is what I've been told, and that's a half-truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved, until a local homemaker, a journalist,
Starting point is 00:33:39 and a handful of girls came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know Quincy Kilder, we know. A story. that law enforcement used to convict six people and that got the citizen investigator on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve,
Starting point is 00:33:57 this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer, and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her and I did not kill her, or rape or burn, or any of that other stuff that y'all said. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her.
Starting point is 00:34:25 From Lava for Good, this is Graves County. A show about just how far our legal system will go in order to find someone to blame. America, y'all better work the hell up. Has anyone else noticed that we haven't seen Emma Watson in anything in several years? Emma Watson is opening up the truth behind her five-year break from acting. Watson said she wasn't very happy. Was acting always something you were going to do?
Starting point is 00:35:33 I was using acting as a way of escaping to feel free. My parents, it wasn't just the divorce, it was just like the continuing situation of living between two different houses and two different lives and two different sets of values. the career and the life that looks like the dream but are you really happy? Fame has given me this extraordinary power it's also given me a lot of responsibility listen to On Purpose with Jay Chetty
Starting point is 00:36:00 on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. We just got back from Bottle Rock. We are multiple glasses and whining. We have so much to discuss, but right now we are live from the IHeart Verbo podcast house at Botter Rock. And again, this place is so incredible. We're in the Villa Montabella, one of Verbo's vacation rentals of the year in 2024. And it is everything you could dream of.
Starting point is 00:36:34 I also cannot wait to go to sleep here tonight. Seriously, the wine cave is insane. And if you want your own amazing vacation rental, download the Verbo app and check it out. their 2025 vacation rentals of the year. Trust us, you won't be disappointed. This place is amazing. Bottle Rock has been amazing. And I feel like we have so much to talk about.
Starting point is 00:36:57 So much to talk about. Where should we start? I don't know. Should we start with, I don't know. Okay. So on the way to Bottle Rock, there actually was development in Mercedes dating life. So like, you know, any single.
Starting point is 00:37:15 girl, we're here at this gorgeous pool and we both posted thirst traps, obviously. You got to do it. You got to post the thirst. You have to. And the goal is to get the swipe up. And it's always from one person. Yes. And we got, you know, the one person to swipe up. We succeeded there. But then it was kind of downhill from there. So basically what happened was Mercedes got the swipe up from this guy that she has been kind of interested in again like she's a single woman yes and and anything is up for grabs at this point but he swiped up and he did flame emoji not the flame yes yes and so she just what is she just liked it because I'm like what do you say to a flame you can't like respond to that yeah right if you're a guy listening to this don't do a flame it's you got to like say say something
Starting point is 00:38:07 more at least just like shoot your shot yes I agree but they love the flame emoji and And then what did he write back? And when this is all happening on the way to bother off. Yes. Yeah. What did he? So I just liked it because I was like, what do I say to that? And then he said, are you staying there?
Starting point is 00:38:23 Are you staying there all weekend? No, because I can't open his most recent message. Oh, okay. He said, are you staying there all weekend? And then I think I was like, I'm coming home tomorrow. Mm-hmm. And then he said, are you coming to Nashville? And I lied.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Okay. And I said yes, but I'm going to go home to Nashville. But we were telling him she was. So when he asked her out, she could say she wasn't available. She's so busy. She's a busy woman with multiple plans. And if you want to get on the itinerary, you have to get in the schedule. And what did he say back?
Starting point is 00:39:00 I don't remember. Oh, he said see you there. Oh, yeah. See you there. Or see you here. And I was like, see me where? Like, what do you mean? So I didn't reply.
Starting point is 00:39:08 And then he did it again. And he was like, when are you getting in town or something? that. Yeah. And so Kaylin, who is married, so we trust Kayla's opinion. She's got the ring. So she has all the insight on how to, how to lock a man down. She said he's being sassy. So be sassy back. And Mercedes said, I miss the part where you asked me on a date. Yes. Which I think was a great response. Yeah, it really was. And then he said, oh yeah, I did forget to do that or something. And I'm like, okay. And then, which was like, so weird. And then I said the schedule's filling up. And then he was like, okay, like, meet me here
Starting point is 00:39:42 tomorrow, blah, blah, blah. So we got the response we wanted. It just took 12 hours and four women and several glasses of wine, but that, you know, that is modern day dating. It really is. It's not that. It's tough out here. While we were there, because Mercedes is single,
Starting point is 00:39:59 we all had our eyes open. Yes, I had three wing women with me. It was really amazing. Every single guy we saw, we're like Mercedes. This guy? This guy? But literally everyone, like, had girlfriends. I feel Like there was a lot of couple people there. Botter Rock is definitely an older crowd.
Starting point is 00:40:16 It's definitely more of like a relationship type vibe, I think for sure. But we did meet someone. We did. And Mercedes did get his number. I did. Yeah. Actually, Genevieve, I think. Yes, she did.
Starting point is 00:40:32 She went up to him and she's like, are you single? And he's like, yeah. And then she's like, oh, I have the perfect person for you. And then she took me up to him. And he was really nice and really cute. So tell us about it. him. Well, first we saw him and Mercedes kept running away. No, I got so nervous. And I'm like, Mercedes, I'm going to go up to him. She goes, give me three minutes. And then she goes to the
Starting point is 00:40:50 complete opposite side of the venue. No, I really did. I ran away. But eventually we didn't need him. But then, yeah, and then I met him and he was really nice. He lives in San Diego. What's his name? Christian. Christian, right? Yeah, it was Christian. Did you ask how old he was? No. Hopefully he's younger because I want Mercedes today and younger guys. She wants me with a younger man so bad. I do because I think sometimes the younger guys when they're with an older woman, not older. Yeah. But like they're like, you know, they try harder. And I think someone really needs to try hard for you. Yes. No, I agree. I think I'm going to give a younger man a chance. After you're convincing, I'm down. I'm like, I'm down to give it a try. I'm like, I'm giving her the worst advice ever. You guys exchanged numbers. Yes, we did. I haven't texted him yet. Should we text him right now?
Starting point is 00:41:55 What should I say? Like, we should say. It was... It was so nice to meet you. What are your plans this weekend? Okay. And then he doesn't have to know we're leaving tomorrow. No.
Starting point is 00:42:08 They never have to know what our next move is. wait what was his name christian why can't i find it i'm mercedes you're not save it no i definitely did he put it in my phone right there's there's footage of the footage roll the tapes there's what did that happen because while this is happening too this poor man is is talking to mercedes full camera in his face so let's check so what am i saying so nice meeting you tonight this is mercedes okay okay We need Kaelin because Kailen's married So I don't trust a word that comes out of my mouth
Starting point is 00:42:45 No Kailin is so good Okay But it doesn't have to be anything Yeah this is Mercedes so nice to meet you What are your plans this weekend Send I'm so scared No just send it
Starting point is 00:42:59 What do you have to lose No you're so right Okay He was really cute Did you have a bullet? You sent it? Yeah Wait I have a question
Starting point is 00:43:09 Whenever you like send a text Do you just want to, like, throw your phone across the room? Yeah, I do throw my phone. No, literally, whenever I send a text, I literally want to chuck my phone and just, like, not look at it for hours. No, wait, did he get your number as well? Or did you, he just put it in my phone? So he's fully probably waiting. Him and his friends are probably like, did she text you?
Starting point is 00:43:26 He was with his brother and his sister. We, that was his brother? Yes. The brother was good looking. Yes. And then his sister, too. Yeah, they were like, which is so cute. Like a little family.
Starting point is 00:43:39 I know. I love that. And they're all forever. probably Napa. They probably live here. Wait, I think he said he was from here. Well, you talked to him. What else did he say? No, I kind of blacked out a little bit. She was scared. I was so scared from what.
Starting point is 00:43:51 She was fully running away. I actually was. And I'm like, Mercedes, if they say they have a girlfriend or something, we could just say, oh, it's for, it's for work. It's for a podcast. We're not actually serious. We're fully serious. Like, we're actually ready for this. No, I think, yeah, I think he said he was from here, but he lives in San Diego. Which is perfect because our friend Jess lives there.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Yeah, I told him that too. And Mercedes needs an excuse to come. You know, Jess has, you know, her new apartment. I know. And your new boyfriend lives there now. Right. So I guess I'm moving to San Diego now. And she's married and she's going to have a baby.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Right. Like that's fully, we're just waiting for this response. But besides that, we had a great night. No, it was so fun. So much fun. Benson Boone. I love him. He did so many backflips, so many front flips.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Yeah. And he sounds even better in person. And, you know, he was dressed up like Marnie McFly. He was so, he does this little cosplay. He has the mustache and the mullet. We were talking about that. We wanted Mercedes to slide into Benson's DMs, but he fully has a girlfriend. We asked chat, GBT.
Starting point is 00:44:56 We did. And we found that out. So we're respectful and did not do that. But exactly. He was looking good, I will say. He was looking great. And then we just hung out. We drank some wine, had some food.
Starting point is 00:45:07 We actually did see another bachelor. alumni there as well. Matt James was there. And he was very nice. He was nice. Yeah. I had never met him before, but he was really sweet. Yeah. He came over. He said hi to everyone. I forgot. I had met him one time I'd dancing with the stars, but I fully introduced myself again. And he was, yeah, he was really, really nice guy. I forgot why he said he was here. I know. I kind of forget too. Probably running some marathon or something. Yeah. Does he run marathons? I think so. Oh, wow. And he like eats. Could you ever run a marathon? No, I can't even get up off this couch. Same. I wish I was a marathon girlie. Like, I feel like that'd be so fun. But I'm like, it's just not. It's not for us.
Starting point is 00:45:49 It's not for me. We are for drinking wine and laying by the fool. That's way more my vibe. Which is exactly what you could do at this verbal, um, this verbo podcast house. And it's been absolutely amazing. We had such a great time. We had such a great time. We met some guys.
Starting point is 00:46:06 DM'd, slid in, texted. Mm-hmm. And whatever's to come, you guys will have to say, too. Yeah. I'm excited. I'm excited too. Mercedes-Married. Anything else to add?
Starting point is 00:46:20 I don't think so. I feel like we hit everything. Tonight was just really fun. Oh, we saw Justin, too. Justin, we were like, it was fun. Oh, yeah. We saw Justin. He was really good.
Starting point is 00:46:28 And Genevieve running away when we started playing. Literally. It was so funny. Best night ever. Thank you, Bottle Rock. We're excited to see what's to come. I'm Mercedes love journey. Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:42 Until then, I'm Rachel. And I'm Mercedes. Thanks for doing it. I'm Jorge Ramos. And I'm Paola Ramos.
