This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcasts with IHeart Radio. Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Heroes podcast. where it is a weird, weird week. Why, something happened? So guys, after we got off the mic last week recording the last episode that we released,
Starting point is 00:03:08 we got word that The Bachelorette would no longer be airing in the state in which we know it that I was supposed to. I'm trying to be careful of my words because. Listen, don't be careful. They canceled the season. They didn't use the word cancel. They never used it, but every, first of this is Jared, by the way, not Ben. I don't know if you've noticed that by now. Ben's not here.
Starting point is 00:03:32 It's his birthday. Happy birthday, Ben. I actually don't know what he's doing, but I'm going to go write him a nice little. Take one guess. I mean, I don't know what it's, yeah. I mean, come on now. He's playing 36 holes in golf, probably. But anyway, back to the Bachelorette news.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Yeah, I mean, just they canceled the season. Now, whether, you know, what their wordage, verbiage, whatever, it got canceled. who knows if they'll try to plop it on Hulu at some point. I doubt it. But we'll see. Yeah. So there's a lot that unfolded between the recording of our last episode. And now, of course, we will be doing plenty of podcasts.
Starting point is 00:04:07 You guys didn't talk about it being canceled. Jared? We recorded. And then I'm not even joking you. We got off the recording. In five minutes later, TMZ reported that Dakota was filing for a restraining order and that he was filing for a restraining order. and that he was filing for sole custody.
Starting point is 00:04:25 And then I text the group, I go, wow, way to hang up too early. And then within 45 minutes from that, then we got the cancellation. So it was just like, that was already our second podcast that we recorded that day because we already recorded the recap of the screener. Yes, guys, we did get to see the first episode. And I'll give you, I can't obviously give details, but I'll give you a macro opinion on that in an episode later this week when we do a recap of all the things that have unfolded over the past weekend. It's almost like we needed to take a beat because the information just kept coming at us.
Starting point is 00:05:04 It still hasn't stopped. And it still hasn't stopped. It won't stop. We need to like kind of not catch our breath, but like take a recap. That's my concern about the future of the franchise is that I just feel like this story won't stop for quite some time. That's why it's going to keep us rolling for weeks, guys. Well, content wise for this podcast, yes. but in terms of the, now we're talking just about the macro really quickly in terms of the future of the Bachelor franchise,
Starting point is 00:05:26 because obviously there's people thinking, is it going to be, is there ever going to be a Bachelor season again, or are they going to try to do Paradise and just power through this thing? My concern is that I feel like this story will keep evolving, whether it be through lawsuits or accusations, pointing fingers, people getting fired. It's going to be hard for them to get a fresh start. And we were talking about the other day. It kind of feels like the Bachelor tried to do. do a fresh start within the past few years, you know, there's been a lot of, uh, turbulence,
Starting point is 00:05:55 you know, because they lost some production, you know, years ago. Wasn't years ago. It was the last, no, no, no, no. I'm talking about years ago when we thought like, you know, obviously the big name, we could say his name now. But when Alon left, that was a big shift. On kind of his choice, yeah. Of course.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Yeah. But it was like, yeah. But when, when that happened, when Alon departed, that was a big shift. And then, of course, like the year or so later is when the entire Harrison situation unfolded. He gets fired. That's a huge shift in Bachelor. And then it just feels like they haven't been able to really get their footing. A lot of seasons that people have been disappointed in, questions about the choice of leads. And then Joey's seasons happen. Joey's season happens. That is a huge bump up. Everybody's like, here we go, great momentum. And then there was that
Starting point is 00:06:44 article last year about like toxic work environment, producers that we need. know that we love involved in it. It's like, this doesn't seem right. But then... Do you want to come and do a recap podcast? My point is... The Bachelor. This is the HGTV show recap. Just like a three... I know, three minutes. This is what people want to hear. With all due respects to the HDTV. I agree. I mean, as I love Dean more than anything. I would like to focus on just talking with you. I just know that we have a hard... I know. That's why I'm... Okay, go ahead. I want you to air it out. Air it up. So, anyway, point is like all the... And then they've fired producers because of this behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Mike Fleiss left as the show... runner so it's been this completely whatever he was like the person who created the show fleas left and then there's been this whole turnover and then here we go they cast taylor frankie paul they announced it last year i didn't know who this person was i don't watch secret lives and mormor wise but what i do know is that it got a ton of traction ton of buzz and i was like oh wow this seems like a great choice because people are talking about it and then it felt like This was like the, not Hail Mary, but like, hey, we're going to throw a fastball as hard as we possibly can. And then, of course, this happens now.
Starting point is 00:07:57 And it's like, damn, there's just been so much. Well, could you come back later this week and we could talk about? Let's talk about that later. That's what you're, okay. Well, I just wanted to talk to you, like, what we were talking about at breakfast yesterday. I think. Yeah, we could do that. Yeah, I want to do that.
Starting point is 00:08:13 We could talk about it for five minutes now and then if we want to talk about an indent later. Point is, I just, I don't know where the future goes, where the franchise goes from here. I don't necessarily think it's over, but I just also think that this is, at this point, this is the most, not nervous, but like the most I thought, wow, there might never be another Bachelor show. Again, I hope that doesn't happen. It's been a franchise that we are obviously completely indebted to, love. I want this thing to go on for the rest of our lives. I know, same. But it's just like, like, how do they do a paradise season?
Starting point is 00:08:48 We were talking about it. Well, they're not going to do a paradise season. There's no way for them to. I mean, there's a way, but it's just whether, you know, the juice is worth the squeeze. Like, do they try to introduce these guys on paradise and then bring women from previous seasons on? Is that going to really hit? Do they bring Golden's back? Are they going to do another golden season?
Starting point is 00:09:05 Because the last golden one, nobody really liked. So it's like, I don't know. It's just question marks. And then it's like, okay, do you take a hiatus and then try to do like a bachelor season in January? and then pick somebody from previous seasons, or do you pick one of the guys from this season and try to, like, you know, get him exposed to the public? So it's like, hey, you feel like this guy was supposed to be, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:26 a well-known name. Nobody knows who he is. And this is his redemption story because, you know, he got screwed out of being on the bachelor's season. Probably not that either. I don't know. I don't think it's good when we pluck bachelors out of obscurity. It worked with Gary and it really hasn't.
Starting point is 00:09:41 The golden. I know. But it didn't work for Mel. And with Matt, it was just, there is a lot of heaviness that went along with that season that I can't even separate. It wasn't Matt's fault. I still remember that promo from that season. Dawson. Dawson didn't even exist at the time, not even as a little thing in my belly, which is super weird.
Starting point is 00:10:03 But you had such a man crush on him. Oh, my God. It was because they, I'm a sucker for any type of trailer that edits itself to the beat. of music and this song was what a man what a man and chris harrison it was such a good line he looks at matt and he goes you've never been in love i'm here to change that and it was like what a man what a man and it was like this edited version of jane matt james just doing all this cool stuff i was like i'm going to love this and then obviously everything changed okay and we have just a little bit before you have to go to work so we are going to switch gears to this hgd tv this hg tv
Starting point is 00:10:44 episode. It's the fourth episode and the first one that Jared has watched us. So he's not going to pretend like he really knows what's going on here. But you kind of do. Right now, it's pretty simple to catch up anywhere you, you, you pick up. Team one in this week is going to be selected randomly. They have a basket. In each in the basket, there are little pieces of paper. They grab them and that tells them what team and they're going to be on on what project they're going to be on. So it's girls versus guys. It does randomly. Courtney, Joan, and Alicia end up on the same team.
Starting point is 00:11:21 And Jared last week, these three girls worked on the same team, and they had lots of headbutting. Joan and Alicia are a little bit paired up as friends, and they do not always agree with Courtney's design thoughts. And this is the second week in a row. It turns out that it's her design that the judges like the most. Team two is Noah, Sam, and Dean. and Noah is going to be in charge of the...
Starting point is 00:11:49 How do you say that? Cresdenza, Credenza. Sam's going to be in charge of the walls and the ceiling, and Dean's going to be in charge of furniture and decor. Courtney's going to be in charge of the fireplace. Jones is in charge of the entertainment built-in, and Alicia is in charge of the bookcase built in. Now, I know you had thoughts when you walked,
Starting point is 00:12:08 when you saw... You just... I don't think you want any change to this mansion, right? like you don't want them to touch anything because as soon as he saw the before and after, Jared was like, I hate it. He's like, it's not, it looks beautiful. Everybody did such a wonderful job, but like I don't want the Bachelor Mansion to have this modern take on it where it's like neutral walls and brand new furniture. And it's like, guys, this is the Bachelor Mansion. There's supposed to be character.
Starting point is 00:12:35 It's supposed to be aged. And there's that's the whole purpose of it because there's stories in there. There are all these people who have come before you. And like if these walls could talk. And now it's like the walls are green and everything is brand new. And it looks like a 2000 and 26 house. I'm like, guys, like, can we not just ruin the Bachelor franchise further? Like, have the house stay the way it's supposed to be and brown and red and all these obscure colors.
Starting point is 00:12:57 My favorite part of the new part of the living room are honestly Dean's pillows because they're burgundy and yellow. I'm like, yeah, give me more colors like that. I mean, the tile, I think who did the tile again? Was it Joan? The tile and the yellow tile. The reading no, no, no, no, no, that was Courtney. Okay, that's great. Courtney's was really nice because it did keep in the traditional color scheme of.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Everything is just so new. I'm like, why are we doing this? This is not the Bachelor Mansion. Like, it's like you, it's kind of like you, I'm trying to, it's not bring my personality into this, but like, I'm not going to say this, but like with scream, it's like if you walked into Stu Mocker's house, the original house. And it's like, well, obviously, this doesn't. feel like the original scream house. So it's not that cool anymore. Going into the Bachelor Mansion,
Starting point is 00:13:49 it's, you don't want it to be like, wow, this doesn't feel like the Bachelor Mansion. It's not cool anymore. Do you realize that they do change? Sorry, I can't believe.
Starting point is 00:13:54 They change the wall color every year. Yeah, but it's, it never feels like that. You know what I mean? It still has the structure. It's like all these different. It's never like a neutral green or white or black or gray.
Starting point is 00:14:06 It's like burgundy or yellow. Dark, dark blues. Dark greens. Yeah. It feels like you're walking into your grandmother. house, you know, that's the vibe I want in the bachelor's house. More of like the Olive Garden 90s house, all on my parents' house. That's what I meant. Yes. Yes. That's what I meant when I'm, well, your parents are grandparents. So I was just thinking like that generation.
Starting point is 00:14:24 This generation's grandparents. But that's, you know what I mean? I don't want it to feel brand new. It annoyed me because, you know, this is coming off the heels of the Taylor Frankie Paul situation, which feels like like she's just, and not to blame her, but like, obviously, well, I guess the blame. Ultimately. Ultimately, yeah. My point in saying is that like it feels like the franchise is getting burned to the ground right now. Ultimately, sorry, I don't know. That's why I didn't want to talk about Taylor in this episode just because there's so much nuance that I want to go through. I'm sure there's nuance.
Starting point is 00:14:56 At the same time, she threw three metal chairs at her ex. One of the chairs did ricochet and hit the daughter. So like that's when it's like, okay, never mind. You're completely in the wrong. No matter what was happening. If you involve your kids, anyway, that's not what we're talking about. But my point is it just is. this was coming off the heels of that news,
Starting point is 00:15:16 which was like, it feels like the Bachelor franchise is floundering right now. And then it's like, now we're changing everything. The lounge room is mint. Jared was like, it can't be mint. But also, let's just address the fact that they're doing this. And they're saying, the next group of people filming the Bachelor run are moving into this house in two weeks. And it's like, well, they did.
Starting point is 00:15:37 And it'll never be aired. You'll never see what it looks like with contestants in it. Oh, boy. oh boy, well, unless they release on Hulu, which I highly don't think can now. But also, I want to say that this is not... Can I just say it's really funny when I go, Jared, will you do the podcast with him? And he's like, okay. Listen, this is work. I'm trying to do the best I can.
Starting point is 00:15:57 He gets on the microphone and he has so many opinions. Because I'm trying to provide a good product. You are. You're doing a great job so much so that I wish that we had more time. Well, you know, we want to leave everybody wanting more. That's true. That's my motto. Go for it. Go ahead. And just one more thing.
Starting point is 00:16:12 It is nothing against the contestants. Truly, every piece in here is beautiful. And I would love all six of them to renovate our house. Because this is what I want my house to look like. Dean's coffee table. If he made that, that is stunning. Dean's just the man. Got to love that guy.
Starting point is 00:16:27 He needs to be on every television show. I agree. And then, you know, with Joan did the entertainment set. I love that. I love everything about it. Now I know that Tyler Tasha and the other gentleman who came in. Nate Berkus, only the man of my childhood. Of course I know his name. He's huge.
Starting point is 00:16:42 But it was Nate Berkus, day on Oprah. My heart was full. Like, I'm not the guy you're going to ask to be like, oh, well, this doesn't go with that. Or, like, I think it looks beautiful. Like, I would love my living room to look like that. So, again, contestants did a wonderful job. I'm just talking about, like, it feels like everything is just not the way it was. And, you know, The Bachelor is meant to be nostalgic. And it feels like we're losing a lot of that nostalgia. Okay. I agree with all of that. back.
Starting point is 00:17:15 20s, the decade. To the days of huge hits. And unforgettable items. A nonstop stream of the biggest and best. Drake, Rihanna, Beyonce, Katie Gaga, the weekend. And more. All your decade defining favorites all in one place.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Hi, it's Katie Perry. Hey, it's Brunemars. This is Kesha. Find 2010s the decade on the free Iheart radio app. Preset the station so it's always one tap away. You know, Real Doll. The writer who thought up Willie Woodley
Starting point is 00:17:44 Matilda and the BFG. But did you know he was also a spy? Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been. Our new podcast series, The Secret World of Roll Doll, is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life.
Starting point is 00:18:00 His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans. What? And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe it either. Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you. The guy was a spy.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelt's? Played poker. with Harry Truman and had a long affair with a congresswoman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past
Starting point is 00:18:31 seeped into the stories we read as kids. The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the secret world of Roll Dahl on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, this is Joe Winterstein, host of the Spirit Daughter podcast, where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life. And I just sat down with a mini driver. The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Actor, storyteller, and unapologetic Aquarian visionary. Aquarius is all about freedom-loving and different perspectives. And I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius, like, are misunderstood. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all.
Starting point is 00:19:27 If you're navigating your own transformation or just want a chart-side view into how a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity, and real life, this episode is a must listen. Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast, starting on February 24th on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast.
Starting point is 00:19:53 This is a story about a horrendous lie that destroyed two families. Late one night, Bobby Gumpbright became the victim of a random crime. He pulls the gun. Tells me to lie down on the ground. He identified Tremaine Hubbard. Hudson as the perpetrator. Germain was sentenced to 99 years. I'm like, Lord, this can't be real.
Starting point is 00:20:19 I thought it was a mistaken identity. The best lie is partial truth. For 22 years, only two people knew the truth, until a confession changed everything. I was a monster. Listen to Burden of Guilt Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:48 Why hasn't a woman formally participated in a Formula One race weekend in over a decade? Think about how many skills they have to develop at such a young age? What can we learn from all of the new F1 romance novels suddenly popping up every year? He still smelled of podium champagne and expensive friction. And how did a 2023 event called Wagageddon change the paddock forever? That day, is just seared into my memory. I'm culture writer and F1 expert Lily Herman,
Starting point is 00:21:20 and these are just a few of the questions I'm tackling on No Grip, a Formula One culture podcast that dives into the under-explored pockets of the sport. In each episode, a different guest and I will go deeper into the wacky mishap, scandals and sagas, both on the track and far away from it,
Starting point is 00:21:34 that have made F1 a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more than 75 years. Listen to No Grip on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, get your podcasts. So we know in this episode that the season long argument beef between Dean and Dean and Noah is actually all fake because when they're outside just having a little bit of a chat, Noah and him go at it, but they're cracking up the entire time while they're shit talking and anybody think that that was real. There was a moment, Jared. There was a split moment we weren't
Starting point is 00:22:17 really sure. And then Noah threw Dean into the pool. Somebody goes, you still have your mic on. You can't throw them into the pool and then threw them into the pool. I was like, did they take the mic off in between and they cut that together? Because I feel like they did. Probably. They had a great time. And now we know that they really do love each other. The next day, we see that the teams have one hour to make design decisions like usual. The guys are, they're jiving. They're always getting along. They are, to me, the more likable team. They just are nice to watch together.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Noah talks about adding stone to the wall of his little area. That turns out to be gorgeous, probably my favorite part of the room change, one that I think isn't like at all making it not an antique in your head. It's nice. And then Sam says that he's going to go with the light paint and he wants to add the little detail on the wall. frame it up a bit, which I agree in the end with the judges. It was a little bit too modern of a twist for that room.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And then, or it's some, it looked too modern. I don't know that the actual design of it isn't modern, but it registered modern. And then Dean wanted to go with the dark couch in which you said that the dark colors and the pillows on the couch are what made you feel good. I like that. Yeah. Joan talks about how she wants to add art installation and tile. I, in the end of it, like when we see the product, my thought is that I did not like the marble in the back. I thought the gray and white, that did not fit in the room at all.
Starting point is 00:23:59 I think that if she kept it a beige-ier color, if it was more of a, like, a warm tile, that could have worked. But I did not like, he's looking at me like all funny right now. No, I'm just trying to, I get, I'm just not, this is not my cup of tea. I got nothing for you. I wish I could. They're like, I liked it. I don't know. It was fine.
Starting point is 00:24:19 I didn't, I didn't love it. But, um, and they at the judges, the judges ended up saying that there was too many, like elements. There was too many types of materials. And it was just like a little bit clashy, which I totally agreed with. And yes, I know that I'm jumping to the end, but that's fine because it was a really basic episode. Courtney is saying that she wants to use tile and. a mirror and she's going to do the tile vertically, move the eye up. But because like you said, the color is of that like rustic orange, it does really work in the room. And I think that was
Starting point is 00:24:54 one of the best enhancements in the room. And again, Joan and Alicia are just not fans of Courtney's ideas. I'm not sure whether they're just trying to like gang up on her at this point, but they just never agree with her. The interesting part about this. And it kind of continues with what doesn't make sense about the show is that you're going to get eliminated as a team of three. This is what Jesse announces. You get picked on random teams and it happens to be girls and guys. And then your fate is totally decided by the other teammates as, you know, together. It's collective.
Starting point is 00:25:34 And the question always is, like, is this a fair way of going about a design show for you to be lumped in? with teams and be based on a single room. We've mentioned, if you've listened to past episodes, that it should have been a point system throughout the entire time, and whoever had the most points at the end of the series was the one that wins the $100,000. Yeah, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Because a room is accented by everything out, so it's hard to really judge just the furniture by the walls. And then the walls, it's hard to separate those things. It's hard to do a room where you guys aren't. On the same page. Yeah, like there are six people right now. designing a room and three of them are on one team and three of them on the other. And they all have like Dean's doing the furniture and then Sam's doing the walls.
Starting point is 00:26:19 And it's like it's hard not to it's just I know you're supposed to work together but also they're not supposed to work together. That's what's weird in this particular challenge. Because before they used to like, well, the Rose Ceremony Room was also a situation like this where they like split up the room. But if you're only supposed to be working with one team and then you're not supposed to be working with the other team at all, like how weird. is the final product.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Like, they're really lucky that the final product looked really good, but how much more incredible would it have looked if everybody kind of put their heads together and created a more cohesive look? Also, you're on a team, so I get the way that Nate said in the end, it's nice that you could see the elements that the guys decided to work on together.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Like, you could see who worked on guys' pieces versus the girls' pieces were, like, three separate entities. It just, the whole scoring doesn't make any sense, to me. Ali Alicia ends up winning every challenge. She was on the winning team for every challenge up until this day. And yet she's eliminated on this day. So it just doesn't make a lot of sense. You see that? Every episode. No, of course it doesn't make. It doesn't. It doesn't. It makes sense. Of course. It makes sense. Yes. It should have definitely been just numbers throughout the entire time. Because real design, because if one person is going to be the one that wins 100,000 at the end of it, then why are we constantly being judged as a group?
Starting point is 00:27:50 I think to answer my own question, Nate would say, as he mentioned in this episode, that like his team, like sometimes he has like 20 plus people working on one room, like one project and they all have to. They're all working together. Yeah, exactly. So he's going to say, he's going to say a good designer. needs to know how to like compromise and like come up with compromise. Yeah. And like work as a great. I understand that, but they weren't working together.
Starting point is 00:28:15 They were all working as individuals. But yes and no, the guys still brainstormed together. Yeah, but plus like I feel like when you're working as an interior designer or not on a show, like there is there's an over, there's a bigger idea. You know, so it's like, hey, guys, this is what we're going for. So this is what you need to work towards. Where compared to this, it felt like just kind of like come up with your own ideas and your own intuitions. Comparably to if you're working on someone's house, it's like, hey, this is what they want. This is kind of the color scheme they're going for.
Starting point is 00:28:47 This is the vibe they're going for, so on and so forth. Where this was just like, hey, just do whatever you creatively want to. And that's like, well, everybody wants to do something creatively different. Yeah. And so then, of course, that's when the compromise comes in. But there is no one direction that they're headed towards. of all the things in the room what did you find yourself
Starting point is 00:29:05 most impressed by I mean it was all very impressive I thought you were going to say Dean's coffee table It's the most masculine piece and he did put it together He crafted that He crafted it yeah and of course it's that If he crafted that holy shit Good job Dean
Starting point is 00:29:19 Yeah that's crazy That coffee table is beautiful And again as as Jared said It's just really hard not to want to watch Dean all the time We're biased Yeah Let's see what else is there on this episode just um but everybody's is really good yeah everybody's was really good i thought nois was great
Starting point is 00:29:36 too i thought they was so good thought they were a little harsh on that the judges well just because they wanted your eye to go up more which i totally understood there could have been like a little bit something on the ceiling like um um like a pendant light that could have brought your eye up a little bit it was a little bit of negative space but it was really really pretty celebrate your pride with the station that's as bold, vibrant, and diverse as you are. Starting point is 00:30:37 But did you know he was also a spy? Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been. Our new podcast series, The Secret World of Roll Doll, is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans. What? And he was really good at it.
Starting point is 00:30:55 You probably won't believe it either. Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you. I was a spy. Did you know Doll got cozy with him? with the Roosevelt's, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a Congresswoman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock, before writing a hit James Bond film.
Starting point is 00:31:14 How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids. The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to The Secret World of Roll Doll on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, this is Joe Winterstein, host of the Spirit Daughter podcast, where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life. And I just sat down with a mini driver. The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Actor, storyteller, and unapologetic Aquarian visionary. Aquarius is all about freedom-loving and different perspectives. And I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius, like, are misunderstood. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms on different houses and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all.
Starting point is 00:32:17 If you're navigating your own transformation or just want to chart-side view into how a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity, and real life, this episode is a must listen. Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast, starting on February 24th on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast.
Starting point is 00:32:43 This is a story about a horrendous lie that destroyed two families. Late one night, Bobby Gumpbright became the victim of a random crime. He pulls the gun. Tells me to lie down on the ground. He identified Tremaine Hudding. as the perpetrator. Germain was sentenced to 99 years. I'm like, Lord, this can't be real.
Starting point is 00:33:09 I thought it was a mistaken identity. The best lie is partial truth. For 22 years, only two people knew the truth, until a confession changed everything. I was a monster. Listen to Burden of Guilt Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Why hasn't a woman formally participated in a Formula One race weekend in over a decade? Think about how many skills they have to develop at such a young age? What can we learn from all of the new F1 romance novels suddenly popping up every year? He still smelled of podium champagne and expensive friction. And how did a 2023 event called Wagageddon change the paddock forever? That day? is just seared into my memory. I'm culture writer and F1 expert Lily Herman,
Starting point is 00:34:10 and these are just a few of the questions I'm tackling on No Grip, a Formula One Culture podcast that dives into the under-explored pockets of the sport. In each episode, a different guest and I will go deeper into the wacky mishap, scandals and sagas, both on the track and far away from it that have made F1 a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more than 75 years. Listen to No Grip on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Okay, well, we kind of already talked about
Starting point is 00:34:44 with the judges gave feedback on. Ultimately, the girls' team is eliminated. I think that everybody at home watching this is kind of bummed out because Courtney, again, gets praise for her work and decisions, but then she gets eliminated after she's just had a deal for weeks of Joan and Alicia. She's like the Matthew Stafford of this,
Starting point is 00:35:09 HG TV show. Because people don't believe in her decisions, but then she proves that she does it very well. No, that he was a great player on a bad team for so long. No, but the two. He was on the Detroit Lions. This is Courtney being on the Detroit Lions. And then she just needed to get traded to the Los Angeles Rams before winning a Super Bowl. They were like, see, it wasn't Stafford.
Starting point is 00:35:29 It was the Lions. That's a really good comparison. But Joan and Alicia are both very, very talented designers, too. They just haven't to work great in a group with Courtney. So when Courtney leaves emotional, she actually feels quite fantastic. She's sad to be leaving, but she also feels fantastic because Nate Berkus offered his rose to her. He like picked up a rose from the podium. And he's like, this is for you, Courtney, for just doing like such a wonderful piece in this room.
Starting point is 00:35:58 And that was like enough to satisfy her and like to leave happy. Of course. And then while she's doing her exit interview, Tasia and Tyler come out and they're like, hey, guess what? We've just found out we can take one contestant back and we're choosing to take you, which I was like, was this plan? Of course, they make up their own rules. Yeah, they're making up their own rules the entire time, right? Yes.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Well, that's what I should know better than anybody. I know. I came in, I was eliminated. You got set home on a row similar and they're like, nah, just turn around, Ashley. You're not going anywhere. You really? Are you sure they're going to hate me? What?
Starting point is 00:36:33 That's what I was like, that's how I felt. Oh, that's how you reacted? Yeah. It's like, this is how we're bringing me back in? I have to go ask to be accepted. It was like that Simpson's mean where the grandfather walks in, takes his hat off, and then just immediately turns around, puts his hat back on and leaves out the door. Okay, well, I would think that they were flying up to see their pants,
Starting point is 00:36:52 but then we see in the scenes from next week's episode that Chris and Tammy are also joining the cast again in working with Courtney to make over the terrace. This is the front of the house. Now, please, please, you can't. That's one thing. You can't touch that. I'm going to hate this. You cannot touch the outside garden.
Starting point is 00:37:13 They won't touch the fountain. No, they can't do anything. That is the most iconic imagery ever. That is totally different than the house because the house they change decor and colors all the time. But it can change. This feels so much different. The outside is so not okay. But what I'm seeing in the scene to the next episode is they're adding to it, like, you know, on the wall.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Like when you look, when you're at the front door and looking out, there's that big brick wall or stone wall. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they're, like, adding a bar in there. They're, like, adding a hangout area there. All right, yeah. So you can, like, go out there and have, like, one-on-one time. Sure. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Touch what isn't there, okay? Add. Don't, like, subtract. The driveway. Don't change the fountain. Don't change the door. No way. Oh, a good Lord, if they ever changed the door.
Starting point is 00:37:56 But that's what I mean. Like, how much could they possibly change for people to judge if they're not going to really... I think that they're just getting this one little thing, this one little task where they're making over the terrorists, and then one person will be rejoined. based on that task to compete in the finale. Jared hates this show. Well, I think like if you lost, you already lost, and now you get to rejoin like Courtney, and I love Courtney,
Starting point is 00:38:19 I want Courtney's down, but also it should be like kind of like a double elimination thing where they have to beat the winner twice. They can't just like lose once, come back and then win the championship over somebody who hasn't lost yet. Does that make sense? Yes, that's another thing that doesn't make any sense. How are you going to bring somebody in there and then they're allowed to compete even though they've had less competition time, like they've skipped over certain rounds and now they
Starting point is 00:38:43 have a chance to win. That's unlike what American Idol did with Wild Card. Like they're trying to do the Wild Card right now. And I keep comparing Bachelor to American Idol right now. But I love it. American Idol. American Idol, yeah. You know a little Bachelor too. Yeah. We're talking about the heyday American Idol. We're not talking about current American Idol. Yeah, you don't watch anymore. No. But Wild Card made, well, actually, okay, we're not going to get into. I'm not recapping American Idol right now. All right. Well, guys, so next week's the finale, which means that we're going to be seeing the
Starting point is 00:39:13 makeover of the terrorists and then probably be going into a final competition, which we don't know what it'll be. What could it be? My last question to you. Yeah. Have they done the pool area? Yeah, that's, you would like the pool area. I want to show you how they need.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Sure. And there's not much to like. They put in a gym and a little like coffee bar, like a little like a refreshment. station. And they also put in a grill and they put in like bar stools and stuff like that. What could they have possibly saved for the finale? I don't know, unless it is like the fountain. But they didn't.
Starting point is 00:39:49 If they did. Nope, they didn't. They didn't. I can tell you that now because we saw the screener. All right. The beginning, the opening is, yeah, exactly. All right, good.
Starting point is 00:39:58 That's nice. Already. Love you guys. My brain was everywhere during that podcast. I feel like a dumb ass. No, that's what a podcast is for. We're supposed to talk about the news. This is one of the news, but also, like, people want to know about Tara Franklin.
Starting point is 00:40:09 No, I'm not talking about that Taylor Frankie Paul stuff. I'm just talking about just my brain in general. No, you were good. No, I'm like mentally fried, I think. Well, two kids, nonstop. I got to work on it. All right, guys. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Anyway. I'll be more articulate when we come and talk about Taylor. Until next time, I've been Ashley. I've been me.
