I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
Answer, a new podcast called Wisecrack, where a comedian finds himself at the center of a chilling true crime story.
Does anyone know what show they've come to see?
It's a story.
It's about the scariest night of my life.
This is Wisecrack, available now.

Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime.
On the new podcast, America's Crime Lab, every case has a story to tell.
And the DNA holds the truth.
He never thought he was going to get caught.
And I just looked at my computer screen.
I was just like, ah, gotcha.
This technology's already solving so many cases.

This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHart Radio.
It's a big week for headlines.
We've got a couple headlines that I cannot wait to run through with Ashley here.
The mystery of the Trista Sutter.
disappearance, along with Ali Fedatowski, like, disappearance from social media at least,
continues. We're getting less and less answers, I think. No or not. I have, I mean, I know what
happened. Okay. Well, Ashley's, can you share it with us? I think people know. I think it's,
I think it's special forces. Interesting. Even press articles are saying that it's most likely
special forces. Well, here at the almost famous podcast, we're going to say they allegedly
were on special forces. They are now back. And Trista Sutter breaks her silence about her absence
and reunites with husband, Ryan, and kids. Okay. So first off, how, how bad do you think
Ali feels that her husband didn't go on diatribe and on social media about missing her? Oh,
she's like coming home. She's like, wait, what, you didn't miss me? Like, what was going on here?
In fact, if I was her husband, I would have seen Ryan's post and just be like, well, I have to.
You don't have to be so melodramatic, but you gotta do something.
You gotta do something. Nope, nothing.
Well, Trista was really funny when she got back.
She said, geez, people, can a girl have a nervous breakdown slash trial separation slash
midlife crisis slash death slash divorce and peace around here?
In all seriousness, for those concerned, I'm safe and sound, happy and healthy and love
and grateful for those who'd rather focus on being critical and searching way too hard for
darkness. Good luck. Good luck with that. An opportunity for perspective and personal growth presented
itself and the unconditional support of my family and friends. I chose myself and betterment
knowing that my stay-at-home mom job and my kids' end of the year school needs were in the best
most capable hands. If you guys are a little late to this and don't know what Ben and I are
joking about, Ryan Sutter posted about, I don't know the exact number, I want to say five.
Very dramatic, yet loving and caring posts about him being out of touch with his wife,
her going through some sort of life journey, and him just doing life without her for two weeks.
and Ryan posted something yesterday about the fact that he usually just posts about his dogs
and he's going to go back to just posting about his dogs because he can't believe that for
the first time in basically 20 years so many press outlets picked up on his social media activity
that there was headlines with his name in it he says blah blah blah but 21 years ago
I was pretty famous I don't have millions of followers and I'm not influenced
anyone but for some reason every now and then people still pay attention apparently that has
recently been the case i strayed from the safety of my usual dog theme posts and i post some
messages to my wife for a time which she could eventually read them she understood the context
so did i no one else did however and that's where things went sideways it was suggested
that trista had died i don't know about that we were in trouble or that it must have been a bit
life crisis amongst other creative ideas some thought it was intentional that i was misleading people
in order to somehow benefit from it it got picked up by entertainment news sites i started getting
text from people concerned um blah blah but he said but to be honest um it felt good to know that
people still cared and worried and wondered it felt good to be noticed and inspired me to um
start paying better attention to others when they do good or when they need help so yeah you know
we were just we were talking last week about how like i that is a lot of miss like he really missed her
and we know that if it was special forces that it only films for about 10 days of course with
travel and pre-production and stuff it probably comes to about 14 15 days but like we were like
man i want to be missed like that and i was thinking my dad does miss
my mom like this.
He writes her notes every morning.
And then he, my mom came for the weekend.
She was here for three nights.
And then my sister looked up the plane tickets,
just how much it would be to switch and add like an extra day.
And it was only $100.
And she was like, I have to get home to dad.
Like dad needs me.
Like my dad legitimately, like doesn't have any sort of like real mental or physical
need for my mom.
mom's, you know, presence, but, like, he will text her, like, I'm sad, I'm lonely, I want you
home, I miss you, like, within hours of her leaving for a three-day trip.
It was very sweet.
Yeah.
And whatever it's always been that way.
Well, I will always be team Ryan and Trista.
Love those two, like two of the coolest best people, love them to death.
I do feel like here, though, they should both look at this and be like, no, we definitely
set ourselves up for this.
Like 100% I can see why people are like, what is happening?
Where is Trista?
Where is she gone?
Especially, like, did the show get annoyed by this?
Like, she basically revealed herself as a cast member.
Sure.
But, like, I know that they're both probably like, hey, everybody overreacted this.
And I'm sure we did.
Like, I'm 100% sure we overreacted to these posts.
But I can see why people overreacted to these posts.
Like, I can 100% say, yes, I, when I read these,
even knowing the two of them
and wanting to believe the best,
I was like, is everything okay?
Like, I don't know what's happening,
but my biggest question in general was,
is everything okay?
But you don't think that
knowing Ryan and Trista,
but particularly Ryan in this case,
he was never asking for attention.
Goodness, no.
Like, absolutely not.
Like, this guy, like,
doesn't search for attention whatsoever.
He's the quietest and most private
amongst everyone
every time we have, like, a group trip.
Ryan, there's zero thought in my mind
that Ryan at any point when it's in fact I think he probably did this for for a lack of attention
not knowing what social media exactly did he just thought he was sending messages to trista
and she would probably be able to get them via social media better than text messages i bet that honestly
i don't think it's probably far from the truth Ryan was not looking for attention here uh he is
not like most of us he's a very quiet he is you know head to the ground hard worker and
I do probably think he was writing these as a love letter to his wife that he did miss
and then all of a sudden he was like holy cow I doubt Ryan even knew that these things caught
fire and got attention from publicity until like days after we did like I bet at some point
he woke up one morning he was like hey why is my name on like CNN or my Google alerts are
popping up and then all of a sudden he's like oh crap like now I got to type another one that
made it a little bit worse, and everybody freaked out a little bit more.
Well, kind of in concert here, Ali Fittowski discusses crazy emotions after her mysterious
trip. And she says she doesn't quite feel like herself. Just give a timeline. Her kind of,
as I said, disappears. I don't know what else to call it from social media.
Also happened about the same time Tristas did. Yeah, okay. So she said, hey, everyone, I'm back.
I've been off social for a bit. I'm happy to be back. You know, wait to share what
I did. I have so many feelings around it, crazy emotions around it. And I honestly,
mentally don't feel quite like myself right now because of it. I promise as soon as I can share
with you, I will. I just can't now. She said it feels good to interact with her followers again.
And again, can't wait to share everything she can when she can. I think both of them,
it's interesting to me, Ashley, if it was special forces. And we are allegedly saying that is the
the best, you know, point to where we think they went. It's interesting they're both kind of going
about this, talking about their kind of mental health and bettering themselves. I wonder if
special forces is kind of marketed to contestants as this place to believe in yourself again and
to do something powerful and to show your strength. I wouldn't be surprised because I do think
the show does that. You know, it's an incredible endurance of mental strength.
strength. And it does kind of catapult you back out into the spotlight for a period of time. And
people watch you go through these grueling tasks. But both Allie and Trist to kind of have similar
language on what they were doing and why they were doing it. Totally. You're right. And the show did
have Nick and Tyler on last season from Bachelor. So then it would just make sense for them to have
two females from Bachelor. Yeah. Interesting choices, I would say. Yeah. I mean, I don't want to.
offense to Ali, but I think that Ali is a little bit more of a random choice. Trista makes a lot
of sense. She's the mother of the franchise. She will always be a name. And to me,
Ali, while of course, like we know her from The Bachelor, I think of her more as like a mommy
blocker these days. Because she's done a lot since the show. She did E. She did some lifestyle
shows. She's very concentrated on social media now. So just a little bit, just more of a left field
choice for me. You don't think of her as the
Bachelorette anymore. You think of her as, yes,
something different.
If they both won this thing,
we have problems.
Like, I'm going to have, like, big, like,
issues internally. Like, how strong
am I? Like, am I weird? Am I, like?
We don't even know how powerful we are,
but we're sitting here, just with
this, like, heartful of courage.
Yeah, so strong.
And all I do is talk for a living.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Oh, wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That sounds totally inappropriate.
Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and
they're the same age.
And it's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him
because he now wants them both to meet.
So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?
To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the I Heart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
I don't write songs.
I take dictation.
I didn't even know you've been a pastor for over 10 years.
I think culture is any space that you.
live in that develops you.
On a recent episode of Culture Raises Us podcast, I sat down with Warren Campbell,
Grammy-winning producer, pastor, and music executive to talk about the beats, the business,
and the legacy behind some of the biggest names in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop.
This is like watching Michael Jackson talk about Thurley before it happened.
Was there a particular moment where you realize just how instrumental music culture was
to shaping all of our global ecosystem?
I was eight years old, and the Motown-25 special came.
and all the great Motown artists, Marvin, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Diana Raw.
From Mary Mary to Jennifer Hudson, we get into the soul of the music and the purpose that drives it.

Why is cool mom an insult, but mom is fine?
No.
I always say, Kurt, it's a fun dad.
Fun dad and cool mom.
That's cool for me.
We also dig into important life stuff.
Like, why our last names would make the worst hyphen ever.
My last name is Cummings.
I have sympathy for nobody.
Yeah, mine's brown-olar, but with an H, so it looks like brown holer.
Okay, that's, okay, yours might be worse.
We can never get married.
Yeah.

Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers.
The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50%
of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this.
Pull that.
Turn this.
It's just...

Susan Lucci
claimed she was caught about leading the golden
bachelor edge, said it wasn't for
me, was her quote, this according to people.
Ashley, as we know, multiple
people are called about leading the franchise
each season. This isn't something
something new or abnormal. It doesn't mean that Joan wasn't their first choice. It doesn't mean that
she was their first choice. It just means that they kind of call a bunch of people. They did it when
I was The Bachelor. They bring them in a room. You have dinner with, you know, the creators of the show.
You sit down. You talk about what you're all about. And then, you know, you really don't know you're
going to be the lead until they announce it. So not shocking, but Susan Lucci, big name,
getting the call. They're obviously, I think the biggest thing out of this is they are,
are considering when it comes at least a golden to go outside the franchise.
It feels like every year we get a headline of a celebrity saying, like, I was asked by production
to be the lead.
They obviously are really trying.
They never say yes.
They're really trying for this.
And one day I really wanted to happen for us.
It would be really fun.
And with Susan Lucci, holy moly, does that really make a lot of sense for them to get an audience
that they don't currently have?
Yes, did the Golden Bachelor bring in a lot of older audience, a lot more vast of range when it comes to age range? Yes. But with Susan Lucci, you're going to get so many fans of all my children, which my mom was for years. Just lots of soap fans. The whole show itself kind of is like a soap. So I think she'd fit right in perfectly. And then I think you're going to get a lot of people who are older who are like, what is this?
This show that Susan Lucci is doing, that's so interesting.
She's 77.
I mean, she looks amazing.
Her husband died two years ago.
She has been a really fun candidate for it, but she did say, I believe that they contacted
my publicist, and it wasn't for me.
I don't think the conversation went too far.
I did watch the Golden Bachelor.
I really enjoyed watching the Golden Bachelor.
This is a new addiction for me.
She said she
She spent years watching her mother love the franchise
But she didn't get into it until a couple seasons ago
After her assistant inspired her to give The Bachelor a try
So my assistant said, I'm going home to watch The Bachelor with my daughters
And she says, it's really good
And you know, now it's her new guilty pleasure, she says
Well, in that case, Susan, maybe like see how you feel after
and give it a shot.
Jones season because this would be really fun.
Give it a shot.
Tinley Mulzan welcomes baby number two with husband Taylor Leopold.
This according to Us Weekly.
Tenly had been posting about how she wanted to have this baby so bad because she like went to the 40 week point.
It was the baby was do-do.
So she was, she happily welcomed her.
May 23rd, 9.48 p.m.
The baby's name is Banks.
Alia, Eliapold, and she was eight pounds, six ounces.
So she said in the caption,
No wonder why I was hurting.
She looks a lot like Rell did, but a little extra squishy.
So congratulations to Tenley and her husband, Taylor,
and of course their daughter, Rell,
who's very excited to be a big sister.
It's super fun to see.
It's absolutely awesome.
Good for Tinley.
Good for Taylor.
More babies in Bachelor Nation continue.
Abigail Herringer's memoir, The Deaf Girl, comes out in September, and her quote
is, Your Girl, has published her first book.
This according to The Bachelor Nation.
She definitely kept this under wraps.
She keeps us updated on a lot of things, the wedding planning, the reconstruction of their
house.
But she, I don't think, said,
anything about her writing a book, but here she is.
She posted on social media saying,
your girl has published her first book.
It's called The Deaf Girl,
a memoir of hearing loss, hope, and fighting against the odds.
She showed us the cover.
The cover looks cute.
She said in 2021, many of you met me for the first time
when I stepped out of a limo and quest for love.
In my introduction included a playful mention of my deafness,
and I meant it as a light-hearted pickup line,
but it sparked a much-needed conversation
about hearing loss in the mainstream media.
And since then, I've received numerous messages
from people sharing their own experiences with hearing loss.
Some people reminded me of high school Abigail,
unsure of where she fit in,
born deaf, but received a cochlear implant at a young age,
placing her between two communities.
So she's describing that kind of person, herself.
And others echoed my mom's journey, which is navigating the world as a parent of two deaf daughters, filled with the fear of the unknown.
There were those who are like my now fiancé, who wanted to learn how to be a supportive partner to somebody with a disability, and many others who expressed the struggle with how to balance their disability with their personal identity.
So she teamed up with her mom to look back on their lives and to put together this book.
She said over the past three years, my mom and I have combined our experiences into this book.
In mine, you know, particularly focusing on growing up with a disability and navigating life's challenges and hers, her perspective of raising two daughters with a shared disability and facing uncharted waters.
So it comes out in September and she hopes that it provides answers, comfort, and hope to those who need it.
Absolutely awesome.
Yeah.
I love the combo.
right what a good idea it's really cool we'll be bringing her on to get more insights as september gets
closer about this book but really great when somebody uses you know whatever it is that catches
the attention of the audience something that probably at some point was an insecurity for her
as she mentioned in high school and now it's her superpower now it's her it's the thing that she
is talking about connecting with and helping others with absolutely cool absolutely awesome
wishing her the best and the most success with that book.
Ashley, final headline is this.
Not really needing to be discussed,
but we are getting kind of some glimpses into Jen's Night 1 as The Bachelorette.
We get more and more excited here at the Almost Famous Podcast about Night 1 of The Bachelorette.
We believe that filming has now concluded.
It's wrapped.
The story is in a box.
It's on the floor of some editing room at ABC.
and it will be fairly soon in front of our eyes to enjoy.
Ashley, any insights, details, hidden secrets that aren't spoilers that you have leading
up to night one.
No, except for the fact that she posted on social media four days ago saying
proof of life past couple months have been crazy, but I'm back.
I'm grateful and it's only the beginning.
Shocking that she did that honestly.
most of the time you cannot share when you're back
because they don't love for people to know.
They don't love to know that it's over.
Yeah, because then people start digging.
People, you know, some fans still don't think
that the show is actually taped months before.
I'll be honest, Ashley.
Every once in a while, I'll get a spoiler like just come across my page.
I've got nothing.
Oh, really?
I got the top four.
I didn't, I think I looked at them.
But I don't remember.
I don't recall.
them guys when I'm recapping this I will not know but I was on X and sometimes it just
there it is and I'm like oh which are these guys cute you know I've got nothing I'm coming into
this thing completely oblivious so very excited I like doing that it's more fun for me
you were pretty attached to Joey's season you know what I mean like because you guys became
friends so that was like not that what that season was kind of it was still fun you were in the
no right but for the most part you and I have
not been in the know for seasons now.
Yeah, we kind of meant to do that.
We've meant to come into this thing without the knowledge of what happens.
Well,
it's more fun for all of us.
Speaking of knowledge of what happens,
we'll have an almost good advice coming out this week.
We'll have some more interviews coming out.
Obviously,
the headlines episode is here as we get closer and closer to the Jen season as the Bachelorette.
We're here at the Almost Famous podcast.
Very excited for this season.
A lot of unanswered questions because we don't know Jen well.
But we're going to start to investigate to understand her a little better.
So everybody here at the Almost Famous Podcast can go into this season as excited as we are.
But until next time, I've been Ben.
I've been Ashley.
See you guys.
