Hey, it's time for episode two of this week of the Almost Famous Podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:46 We're breaking down Bachelor in Paradise. Let's call this the return of the people, because both guys and girls are showing up to the beach this episode and we have a lot to talk about Ashley's here to help us do that Ashley. Hello, hello. What's going on? Not much.
Starting point is 00:03:05 How did you feel about this episode? You know, honestly, I feel like we could break this down about five minutes because a lot of it was the same thing and a lot of it was expected. Oh, if you would have told me, yeah. You know, there was no twist and turns.
Starting point is 00:03:23 we get what we get I thought it was fine I was really kind of hoping that the return of everybody to the beach would cause more storylines but the storylines that played out feel like there's been storylines
Starting point is 00:03:37 for the last you know a couple episodes of the show yeah the one storyline that I feel like we still have to like kind of watch develop will be the Victoria Alex and Johnny storyline but that's the only one that has like kind of a oh what's going to happen
Starting point is 00:03:53 vibe to it. Everything else, everybody else seems pretty paired off. I think that this episode was kind of
Starting point is 00:04:01 a demonstration of the season being dragged out a little bit too long. I know that there is more episodes ordered
Starting point is 00:04:10 because it does do so well for ABC, but it's moments like this where it's just like, okay, we maybe like
Starting point is 00:04:19 drag out certain like conversations too long just because we have time to fill i think that is exactly what has happened now i'm not saying that this episode was not worth the watch it could have been an hour not two hours yes that's that's exactly yeah it could have been an hour it would have been an amazing hour of television it drawn out a little flung for two hours of television but it's still interesting i don't know where i sit yet you know i'm not
Starting point is 00:04:49 100% against the switch up where the guys stay, the girls leave, the girls get new guys, the guys get new girls. I think it did add an element of surprise. I don't think it was probably easy on any of the relationships that were involved. But I don't know if I'm fully against it. I know there's some people out there like this was just wrong. It was unhealthy. And I would agree.
Starting point is 00:05:13 But is it? I don't know. I would argue with that you, you know, everybody knew they were going. to paradise, which in itself is a kind of an unhealthy, untraditional experience. So you knew that you were signing up for something wild and weird and wacky. But, you know, this is the first time ever we've seen everybody get reunited again. And kind of what is to come from that? You know, Ashley, to kind of kick this off, I'd throw the question to you.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Are there any shocking relationships that ended that you expected to stay together with this switch up well i thought that jill um and jacob were they were going to end because of somebody in the way and that wasn't the case and then i didn't think the logan and cheney thing would be as explosive as it was yeah and um you know Andrew and Brittany we knew that was coming but the thing about that is i still feel something like i still want Andrew and Brady to kind of be together. They're so cute. I would agree.
Starting point is 00:06:26 I'm shocked that they're not together. That's the one that surprised me. I felt they both were kind of in that space. Like, yeah, this is good. Let's keep it going. You know, that's the only one that's like relationship that ended that I expected to stay together. Yeah, okay. Well, yes and no.
Starting point is 00:06:47 I mean, like on paper, yeah. But after watching the episodes, you understand that she has way more passion with Tyler. But there's just like some cuteness that I just love to see the two, like the two of them on screen together. Yeah. Whatever. But yeah, basically, we just recapped the episode. The episode is recapped. That's what happened.
Starting point is 00:07:08 We can go. We'll go. That's what I said. We could do it. We did. We could do it in 10 minutes. And we did. We did it in less than like three.
Starting point is 00:07:14 But we can go a little bit more in depth. Let's start with Genevieve and Aaron. because Genevie was by far the most anxious of all the girls to get back. She was like saying, I'm ready for a proposal in a joking way, if Aaron's not with anybody when I get back. And it was really, really adorable to see her get that sense of relief when she found out that he didn't go on a date, he didn't kiss anyone, and that he was thinking about her every moment since.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I, you know, I think this is, you know, we got to see a lot of Genevieve over the last couple weeks. I think this was a very hard situation for her. I'm surprised that this relationship didn't have more bumps. Bumps. Yes, bumps from kind of the separation to now. I'm surprised they both did stay so strong committed. I thought they would both kind of be interested in pursuing it. things but near them were and uh and i don't we didn't get to see a lot of aaron uh during this kind of he must have just not been into any of the girls i mean not to impugn his
Starting point is 00:08:31 relationship with genitive but but we didn't see any of him which means that you know nothing nothing was tempting he kind of sit at the guys table with brandon and johnny it seemed like just sitting there you know passing the time for the next week until I mean, every time we saw them, they were around the little table that looked like a conceit two comes completely. There's four of them, like huddled up next to it, like just sitting there every night, probably just hanging out talking, you know, talking about whatever until the girls came back. And so we get to see this, you know, this reuniting of relationship at the beach, which is,
Starting point is 00:09:08 which is pretty special. I'm wondering if they're just going to stand the test of time now, because if that week didn't break them up, I can't foresee anything else, especially. after that reunion and how funny was he when he like basically drew it out he was like the producer's best pet you know in that moment where he was like so um this happened and that happened and I didn't so good think of anyone but you it was so good it's so good it's so good uh it's a very special moment so Genevieve and Aaron are staying strong at least as far as we know um let's uh let's jump into the chaos the probably the the weirdest again we talked about it last episode of
Starting point is 00:09:54 exactly what cheney was expecting to happen based on her desires for tyler tyler's desires for brittany and then cheney seemed like logan needed to be heard i you know i still don't quite understand um the fairness in it all ownership there but yeah Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD...
Starting point is 00:10:33 Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psycho babble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this. Attention passengers.
Starting point is 00:10:52 The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane. Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying like, okay, pull this, do this, pull that, turn this. It's just, I can do my eyes close. I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devon.
Starting point is 00:11:14 And on our new show, no such thing. we get to the bottom of questions like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence. Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise. And then as we try the whole thing out for real. Wait, what? Oh, that's the run right.
Starting point is 00:11:36 I'm looking at this thing. Listen to no such thing on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up. a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you may, might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors, and you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart
Starting point is 00:12:40 Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life,
Starting point is 00:13:16 emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:13:44 The Super Secret Bestie Club podcast season four is here. And we're locked in. That means more juicy cheesement. Terrible love advice. Evil spells to cast on your ex. No, no, no, no. We're not doing that this season. Oh.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Well, this season, we're leveling up. Each episode will feature a special bestie and you're not going to want to miss it. Get in here. Today we have a very special guest with us. Our new Super Secret Bestie is the deep. of the people. The deep of the people. I'm just like text your ex.
Starting point is 00:14:16 My theory is that if you need to figure out that the stove is hot, go and touch it. Go and figure it out for yourself. Okay. That's us. That's us. My name is Curley. And I'm Maya. In each episode, we'll talk about love, friendship, heart breaks, men, and of course,
Starting point is 00:14:33 our favorite secrets. Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club as a part of the Michael Thura podcast network available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Shanae shows back up to the beach to find out that Logan has moved on to Kate. This does not go well. I would say compared to the Lace Andrews situation,
Starting point is 00:15:02 this one was a lot worse. It was heavy. Ashley walked us through it. She should talk to him a lot. basically he was like I wanted to date with two people did you meet anybody and she was like I did go on a date with Tyler but he didn't make me feel as good and safe as you did that's not true either that is not true because she would have been with Tyler I think if Tyler would have been with her okay there would have been more of a toss-up I still think she would have chosen Logan but
Starting point is 00:15:34 yeah she would have been okay either way I think um he says I still care for you but I feel something stronger for Kate then she basically as much as I think that like Logan is watching paint dry
Starting point is 00:15:54 he does have a point when he's like don't tell me that we were like so strong because we were just like recovering from the situation with you trying to figure out what was up with you and James you were like juggling two men and he didn't like the way
Starting point is 00:16:10 that you talked about the situation and uh logan says he doesn't want to take away the good moments that they had together but it's just not like this conversation is not going well uh she denies a hug from him and then cheney says that k is rude and they are uncomparable and this is when it's kind of you know it's like is she shit talking yeah but is it funny for us to watch yeah uh she said that she didn't get enough screen time on their season and then she had to come after Cheney at Women's Tell All. And then Cheney and Cheney and Kate have like their little confrontation. And I just did not like Kate in this moment.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Like, Cheney, we've all grown to like Cheney. It's actually kind of interesting how a lot of the guys are watching and they're like definitely on Logan's side. So they're not supporting Cheney at all. But they're like up there cheering on Logan. and Kate as they make out in front of Cheney. And I feel like with Cheney, she's just like, when Kate and her have this confrontation,
Starting point is 00:17:20 I just didn't like the way that Kate talked to her. I just, I don't know why. There's something about the way that she talks where she really does think she's above the other person. And as mean as some of the things that Shaday are saying, is saying, I still feel like Kate is the one that's like, I'm in a kind of this is a competition I'm winning and like I'd like to believe
Starting point is 00:17:42 that you're a better person I really do like to believe that like people deserve second chances but I just don't see it in her I don't know why I'm so rooting on Chenet in this moment I really don't because there's a lot of flaws going on that side well you you've always been kind of thrown off by the communication
Starting point is 00:18:00 style of belittling somebody else like making you've always that's my trigger like a yeah more of a sensitive space for those who put other people down with backwards and backhanded comments. Yes. And compliments. Oh, my God, Ben.
Starting point is 00:18:16 You've always been sensitive to that. And so I see where you would be like, no, be straightforward. If you're going to be mean, be mean. But don't be mean in the realm of making yourself look better. Like, just be mean. Ben and I are so close. He knows me so well. He knows me better than I know myself because he just put words to what I couldn't articulate.
Starting point is 00:18:38 you're right i'd rather people be mean to each other's faces than have like a toad and a tone i hate tone i think tone is meaner than actual words mm-hmm a hundred percent weird this is just me this is this could just be me and that's fine it's like it's quality of mine now well yeah i mean i think it could just be you i think it is probably many people yeah but it is it's it's frustrating when you're in the midst of an argument right And any type of, it's manipulating when somebody, when you're arguing with somebody and they're saying, you know, I'd like to believe you could be a good person. But like right now, you're just not.
Starting point is 00:19:17 And you're like, wait, you would like to believe. So, huh? Like, you're saying you are a good person that you know what the stand. You can clearly identify the standard that is good and bad when it comes to how humans treat each other and breakups. You feel like you know more than me in this. And that's frustrating. It is.
Starting point is 00:19:35 And it is manipulative. Manipulative language. Just like adding a few words here and there that really change the vibe of a sentence. Yeah. Actually, I'd like to believe you could be a good co-host of this podcast. Like I know it's in you somewhere and it's like, wait, huh? Like, wait, hasn't it not been in there for the last six years about this relationship? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:20:01 You're saying you see potential. That's not, it's just not. It's just not fair, and it's not easy to argue back to do. And it also isn't admitting any wrong or fault in the situation. And I think that's why this is such a frustrating scene and probably why you say, hey, I don't know if Shaday's right here. Like, I don't think she has the, like, necessarily the excuse to be mean to Logan. I think everybody, again, in paradise, can go and explore the relationships. but the way this is being communicated doesn't seem fair and it seems really uh it seems
Starting point is 00:20:41 very um personally hurtful there's a lot of personal hidden attacks being done that aren't just being straight upset and that that's tough to watch yeah thank you ben thank you for explaining that so well i have no problem again i'm in paradise right now i'm recording this from Mexico and so I feel like I'm very intuitive yeah yeah well thank you so much let's move on to Jacob and Jill for a second nothing surprising here we knew Jacob wasn't going to go back
Starting point is 00:21:12 after Jill especially after last week when he said he wasn't thinking about her when he woke up and that he definitely liked Kate over her but now he's breaking up with her even though there isn't another girl involved Jill is classic Jill hilarious
Starting point is 00:21:30 she says at the end she says in the car I was so ridiculous I'm crying over a guy who sold his couch for cash ha ha ha ha she's I mean being around her
Starting point is 00:21:49 she is hilarious she's very witty I would actually give Jacob a lot of credit here because he could have easily gone back to Jill, even though we all have seen and known that maybe he's not that into it, but he's like, I just want to be around here longer. The competition of this thing is very exciting to me.
Starting point is 00:22:07 I'll, you know, Jill's coming back. She just told me that, you know, she's into me. I could go back to this for a bit and just stick around another week. But instead he's honest. He doesn't, you know, he doesn't lie to her. Yeah. He isn't do this. And so I give him credit.
Starting point is 00:22:23 This was not fun to watch. Again, it's a breakup. Those aren't enjoyable to watch. But I do have to give him some credit here and saying he did a very respectful thing. Actually, I would also at this point like to bring that. And I'm kicking myself ever since then for our interview with Jacob that just came out. He brought up Jill's name many times. And he kept referencing that she would be one of the people that he would still like to try to get to know better.
Starting point is 00:22:49 I know. I wish I would have made him elaborate a little bit more on wait. What do you mean by that? Is there a chance? Is there something potential there? Oh, he said it without saying it. you guys can go listen to our interview and you'd let us know he's saying it he's saying it very clearly that like he still has interest in jill that something's happened since this breakup since their time away that maybe he has started to wake up in the morning and think about it a little bit yeah
Starting point is 00:23:15 look at you look at ben just pondering with a smile yeah yeah i think there could be something there cute cute just saying we'll see so b yes uh hopefully there is something there that doesn't get ruined by him watching he'll say he sold his couch for cash you know what I'd like to see them on the reunion show like sort of reunited not in a committed
Starting point is 00:23:40 boyfriend and girlfriend sort of way but like him like picking her up and bringing her Tarzan and Jane style like onto the hot seat oh that'd be so good I think he knowing that interview with him I think he could almost laugh at her saying I got broken up for a guy that sold his couch for cash
Starting point is 00:23:57 I think he could laugh that one off. Oh, 1,000 percent. I think he probably cracked up hearing that. Yeah, yeah, 100%. Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this. Attention passengers. The pilot is having an emergency
Starting point is 00:24:20 and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane. Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50, percent of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this. Pull that. Turn this. Starting point is 00:26:25 the psychology of belief. Each week we talk to fellow survivors, former believers, and experts to understand why people get pulled in and how they get out. Trust me, new episodes every Wednesday on exactly right. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Starting point is 00:27:34 Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So next is Brittany. Yeah. This is like the most sane conversation ever. This is just, there's no emotion here. No. But the weird thing is, I don't remember Brittany. I mean, Andrew's saying anything to Britney. Oh, he does. Okay. He says, I wanted it. It was just sending you in it well. Because I don't remember him really harping on the fact that he had a connection. It was more like Britney being like, I like Tyler more. But it was just like, cool. He didn't need to. He didn't need to. No, he didn't. He's like, oh, you're breaking up with me. Cool. Because I was going to break up with you. So you, you know, you're the one that has to care. the way here. We're all move on. We're all happy. This is all good. He definitely waited for her, though. He was like, okay, you go first. You tell me. Oh, 100%. Yeah. Yeah. I know you didn't stick around here just waiting for me. So Brittany is with Tyler. Andrew is with Jacinia. Those relationships kind of went off into their own thing. Um, now it's time for Victoria and Serene to show up to the
Starting point is 00:28:45 beach. All right. Well, we know that Serene and Brandon are going to have the most monumentous, adorable reunion and it was truly the cutest thing. It was the cutest thing. And then they exchanged the, I love yous. Instead of the I'm falling in love with yous, the actual I love yous. And it's really, really
Starting point is 00:29:03 adorable. And I want to see more of them. We need more of their adorableness on screen. I don't care if it's just them doing their naps. They love napping together. Just show us more cuddly naps. I, again, we said this since week one when they
Starting point is 00:29:19 first met in person on the show. If this relationship doesn't make it to the end and far beyond it, I don't know. Like, I feel like this is one of the strongest relationships that we've ever seen in paradise. It's something cute. It's something special. It's something that feels very calming. I mean, Serene was upset with, you know, leaving Brandon, but it never felt like she
Starting point is 00:29:43 was worried. Brandon got a little worried there for a bit based on Laces kind of bomb that she dropped in and left on but it never felt like he was freaking out that much um yeah so in short this relationship feels like it's something they can last a long time I actually want to go out and say
Starting point is 00:30:01 I don't know if I've ever felt so secure about any bachelor relationship is watching it as a viewer just watching as a viewer you know not like knowing what's going on inside the inside knowledge that's big yeah I feel comfortable with the two of them
Starting point is 00:30:17 okay well Victoria and Johnny you this is the not comfortable situation that we kind of talked about earlier in the podcast. Victoria says I went on a date with Alex and I felt like we like connected and we he checks off on my boxes and he's ready for a future. He's ready for kids in the family soon and I don't know if you are in that position. But she says, I'm torn. She does. doesn't say like I'm picking him she's telling Johnny I'm torn and he does not like that she's torn and then later in the night we see like Alex does come down and so does Tyler and so does Adam even come down yeah I don't even know if Adam comes down because he's so
Starting point is 00:31:12 inconsequential yeah well he's like now I'm good well um Victoria and And Alex go and talk and he even says something that's like so sweet. He goes, I wanted to kiss you. But out of respect for you and what's going on with Johnny, I didn't. And they still don't kiss. And so now we just, we got this to follow, you know? I mean, that's kind of how the show ends, right? It's the cliffhanger at the end is where is this relationship going to go?
Starting point is 00:31:44 It does feel heavier than some. you know Victoria is actually more torn than I expected her to be showing back up to the beach so we have no really idea where this goes we'll have to tune in next week to watch we'll be breaking it down right here Ashley anything else to add about this episode the girls returned to the beach
Starting point is 00:32:07 one more thing the relationships feel to be settled out okay Gisena pulling Tyler at the end also doesn't make sense it just seems like a move for drama a move to freak Brittany out is she just pulling him aside to be like hey you know you were with
Starting point is 00:32:26 the girl you're with the girl that was with my guy like just you know let's be open on us and like I just wanted to say hi to you or is she like trying to or she has true interest in Tyler and then she's now going to steal Tyler away from Bernie and then leave
Starting point is 00:32:45 Brittany and Andrew solo again. I hope not. Because she may have seen him and been like, oh, darn, that Tyler's cute. I'm not so sold on Andrew anymore, even though Andrew's adorable. I don't know, Ash. I mean, I would be shocked. Let's just say, if that's how this plays out, I would be shocked. I feel like it is really something super inconsequential.
Starting point is 00:33:11 There's really nothing that comes of it. And it's probably a random conversation about, hey, do you want to drink? Here's the bar. You don't know where the bar is at yet. Let's go get a drink. And that's all it ends up being. Well, it's hilarious. It's hilarious how Brittany is like, oh, I should probably show you around here.
Starting point is 00:33:26 And then just, and he's like, hey, welcome. Let me show you around here. But I definitely think it was a move for drama and not a move of consequence, as you said. Let's hope because I just like to see these relationships now. Go in their right directions. Okay. So who's single now on the beach? Just to close this up, we've got Adam, who's single, Chenet, who's single, Johnny, right?
Starting point is 00:33:50 Sort of, yeah. Single. Sort of. Well, sort of. Is. No, I would say, triangleed up. Triangled up. Okay, so somebody there.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Alex or Johnny is going to be single, probably at the end of all this, or maybe Victoria. I don't, I don't know. That's it. Is that it? That's all I can think of. Sarah? Who's Sarah? Sarah.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Oh, and then the girl Florence from Australia. who has not had one speaking line. That's a good point. Yeah, so Florence, Sarah. You've got to try and go with Victoria, Johnny, and Alex, Adam, and that's all. Okay, it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:34:31 It's a good group. So we'll have to see who goes home, who doesn't, how this all plays out with all these little triangles that have been started, but also relationships that are reunited and back together.
Starting point is 00:34:42 We're back on the beach in Paradise. for the next episode. There is no more Vodontas estate, no more air conditioning, no more fancy couches, no more big company beds, they're back. Entrances? With the critters and the bugs and the beach, who knows? I would be surprised that there's an entrance at this point. Oh, you know, obviously Michael A. and Daniel are still there, who somehow oddly got unaffected by all of this stuff and have kind of lived their own little version of paradise off on their own on a little beach hut. But until next week, we'll be back.
