Starting point is 00:01:50 So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the Hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the... The hip, just a little bit bigger hips.
Starting point is 00:02:00 This is a podcast we're recording it as we tailgate. Our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They hit a bogo. Well, then you got it. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHartRadio.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Almost Hadass podcast. We have reached the end of the H-JJJ. TV renovation show. The Bachelor Mansion is now complete, guys. And we're going to break it all down for you. It is complete for a season that will not air. And we do not know when the mansion will be utilized.
Starting point is 00:02:42 And spoiler alert, Ben and I saw that first episode of Taylor's season. And it looked like they put some things back. They did, didn't it? It did kind of seem like that to me. They did. They put the candle wall back distinctively. I don't. And I remember seeing the mural, the one that Jill really thought.
Starting point is 00:02:58 The kitchen was not. The kitchen was like old school kitchen, right? Yeah. Yeah, okay. That's what I thought. There was nothing different. I didn't love the way they made the kitchen look. Like, it was too modern for me.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Again, like, I really wanted them to stay like rustic Spanish style, but. Well, that's at the end of the episode. We got to start at the beginning of this episode. Dean is still around. Obviously, we have four contestants at the beginning of this episode. We find out that they're going to do some mystery challenge. It's the boxes come back out to eliminate one person. This was the worst decision they made in the entire show.
Starting point is 00:03:40 It was, it's unfortunate. It is because like, I don't know, I kind of feel like now what? Dean dessert, it's kind of like the loser's bracket, right? You have to beat the winner twice to go home. But instead, now Dean just goes home. It feels like this whole show has been. too subjective to me. There's no, like, there's no consistency in the format.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Yeah, I don't understand how people go home, when they go home, who likes what. I mean, half the times when the judges say something, I'm like, I actually liked it the other way. You know? Yeah, I know. And, like, you're telling me that Tammy, who was eliminated earlier in the season, now gets to come back in because of a challenge. Yeah. And now Dean gets to be eliminated and get hurt. She gets to defeat him.
Starting point is 00:04:28 and he gets to be eliminated by like a game challenge, like a puzzle challenge, like a memory game. It was a memory game. Yeah. It doesn't make any sense. It has nothing to do with their craft. I think when this show was announced,
Starting point is 00:04:45 you and I both were very excited for it. It has so much potential. And there's a few things during this episode I love. There's a few things about the season I loved. There's other things that really frustrated me. One of the things that frustrated me was it felt like I was trying to play catch up throughout the whole season.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I never knew why people were going home. I sometimes didn't agree with the judge's decision making on what they liked and didn't like. And then when it comes down to this moment, the climax, the biggest moment of the season, all of a sudden, somebody goes home based on a memory game that has nothing to do with this skill set of design. Right.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Like, what? That makes no sense. But we have to get over it because that's just how it happens and it's really a shame that you and I lost our, you know, we lost our friend Dean over it in this competition. I don't know the other two. I don't know them.
Starting point is 00:05:42 So I can't even say, but like it's not even losing Dean, Ashley. I mean, it's just unfair. Every week I felt like this has kind of happened where it's like, wait, whoa, now somebody else is going home. And anyways. Anyways, I guess, you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:57 we could twist it because Dean won that first challenge on episode one. He got the immunity and then he ended up creating the Santorini Room, which he would have definitely been eliminated for. He would have probably. Was it that bad? The Santorini Room was just not that good. Okay. Okay. So let's see. After this challenge, the three of them, which is Noah, Sam, and Tammy are going to all redo another room that has been re-send. They're going to redo a room that's already been redone. A room, well, I guess Tammy's wasn't. So that was kind of weird too.
Starting point is 00:06:39 So Sam gets to make edits to the Santorini room, which obviously makes sense. The season really couldn't have been filmed in the Santorini room. It would have been like, this is distracting to this scene. Then there were definitely issues in the family room. room, whatever. What's the room that they call that? The gathering room. The gathering room.
Starting point is 00:07:00 So that room had some inconsistencies because there was like six people working on one room. Mixer room. That's what they call it. So I understood why Noah was taking that over. And I'm glad that Noah got that project because I know it did such a good job in that room with that marble backdrop. They said that they wanted like something to draw the eye up.
Starting point is 00:07:20 So he put in a shelf in this scene. And he definitely fixed the place. that Joan put too much. They said Joan put too many textures in one area. I totally agreed. So he cleaned that up and he also added better furniture because Dean, when he decorated that room, only put two couches in.
Starting point is 00:07:38 They were like smaller-feeling couches and we definitely need an area for the whole group to fit in. So I liked all of those fixes that they were able to make. Tammy getting the hall like the entranceway of the foyer, it was kind of weird that she got to just do something fresh start and not have to fix anything. What did you think about that? Agreed?
Starting point is 00:07:59 Yeah. Like what? She got like a fresh slate. And all she's going to do is really paint the walls. I didn't love the white. Again, didn't stick to me with a Spanish style. Is it Spanish style anymore? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:13 That's what it is. No, it's just confused. No, the house is just confused. The bones are rustic Spanish style, Mediterranean. And then we have some elements of modern decor. The core. Mid-Censury modern with a mix of modern, with a mix of like Mediterranean with it. I mean, Ashley.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Ben. Like, what are we doing? I don't know. But the wood popped. I liked the fact that the lighter walls and it wasn't like bright yellow made the wood pop. The wood is beautiful. I would have gone with something a little bit more like a beige tone instead of a bright white. But she added benches.
Starting point is 00:08:48 And I liked the added of the adding benches because it is a nice little area. the shuffle of all things on row ceremony night to kind of just like pop a squat there. Any other thoughts? I mean, I thought she did. Yeah, I think she did great. I'm with you. What did she do, though?
Starting point is 00:09:06 She painted a wall and put benches in. Noah covered up some marble. You know, that mixer room is very confused because you had multiple people working on it once. And I think that's one of the things. I'm taking from the show, if they're redoing a massive room and a bedroom,
Starting point is 00:09:32 these are supposed to be, I just think there's too many cooks in the kitchen. And I think we see that at the end. I think that's probably something the producers ended up talking about is we needed to get a lead. We needed to figure out how to have people in charge
Starting point is 00:09:46 making the decisions because there's, there's so many individually good ideas that are trying to fit into one space and none of the ideas are consistent with each other, right? I don't hate Joan's idea. Joan had a beautiful idea, but then mixed in with a mid-century modern wall next to it and smaller furniture and a massive kind of useless, like wet bar, it becomes very confusing. I don't like the bar either. So it's just what I'm saying, it just doesn't fit, right? I mean, they did some good stuff in the house.
Starting point is 00:10:25 But really what this episode should be called is redoing everything we've done up into this point. They didn't touch the rose ceremony room. They sure did for the show, though, and we saw that. They said, let's backtrack a little bit. Really, because everything is subjective, it's hard to keep a consistency throughout the show. Because even if we were to change the format where it was like, we're going to have to have one person redo this room and one person redo this room, and the winner of this room gets to move on to the next round.
Starting point is 00:10:58 That's what probably would have made the most sense if they didn't go with a point system. But like at the end of the day, decorating things is often subjective, so it is hard to just make a contest over, especially when you're working on something that has history to it, pop culture history, and a lot of sentimental value. Starting point is 00:14:10 and around the world because I know deep down inside right now, we are all cursing and asking what the bleep is going on. I'm talking to people like Julie K. Brown, who broke the explosive story on Jeffrey Epstein in 2018. These victims have been let down time and time again. for decades and decades and decades by local law enforcement, by federal law enforcement, by administration after administration. The Justice Department through, I think we counted four presidential administrations, failed these victims. Listen to Bleep with Anna Navarro as part of the My Cultura podcast network,
Starting point is 00:14:51 available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I didn't hate watching this show. I enjoyed it. I think the characters were great. I just, I think sometimes the episodes got confusing on how they were kind of shown. And the overall judge's opinions sometimes I disagreed with, but yet they just jumped in and whoever they liked said, hey, your idea is the best. I mean, ultimately, like, Noah did do a great job with that room.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Sam drew the shortened like the short straw there. He had to fix a bedroom that was tiny. What was he really going to do? I mean, it was mostly just unnecessary some new paint colors. So getting outside of a comfort zone was going to be hard. You had 24 hours. It's like, okay, what are we going to do in 24 hours? We're going to paint, change colors.
Starting point is 00:15:53 How in the world did they paint that foyer in 24 hours all the way up? That's just the magic of TV. It really is. And my takeaway is that the best episode, the thing that truly enhanced the mansion was the outdoor episode, the one in the backyard. That really added things. I would agree with that.
Starting point is 00:16:17 There were some great takeaways, and everybody did step up, and it did feel like everybody enjoyed the show. We do need to pause for a second, though, because Sam ends up going home from this. It's not like there's not a lot. a lot more to it. He goes home because they chose Tammy's ideas and her workmanship and Noah's. And then we get into the, like they do bring us into the backstories at Tammy and Noah.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Both of them are very vulnerable. It's obviously $100,000. That's a good chunk of change. Noah shares about how he's going through his home renovation with his wife, Abigail, and they would love to have the money to finish the projects. Tammy shares about her kind of upbringing and things decisions she made, things placed on her, and how she would use the money to repay back some people in her past that have helped her out a ton. We also see that their two, you know, well, the wife and the boyfriend come back to support them. Here's where I think the major talking point of the episode exists is Noah's open up about
Starting point is 00:17:27 his mom. We had an idea that he got a phone call early on. on the season that his mom was sick and not doing well well we knew that there was a family something going on we didn't know that we could gather well i also didn't put two and two to get i i didn't realize oh you you knew that his mom passed well he had posted about on social media i know and i didn't i don't remember seeing that and i was just reminded before we recorded this podcast um that he did post that his mom passed in october and i just am so so sad because while watching this episode, because there was no dedication to her in the beginning or end,
Starting point is 00:18:06 I figured that she was still alive. And now I'm really, like, I'm super bummed out that she didn't get to see Noah win this. I'm glad that she encouraged him to do it. I'm just really sad for a little, of course, to Noah for the loss of his mom. It's like just so sad. It is, it's really like a really hard thing to watch. And I think the question that viewers, or I had was, Noah, why don't you go home? And he responds to that.
Starting point is 00:18:34 And I think it's a really beautiful moment where he said his mom raised them to finish the jobs they started. And he hopes that she gets to watch the episodes to see him finish. Now, we know that that did not happen. But I'm sure she did get to hear that he won the show and received $100,000. Yeah. Sure she's happy about that. But it's, you know, it's a beautiful moment. And it's also a hard thing.
Starting point is 00:19:00 when Noah decided to probably go on this show. You got to think about not only is he leaving his wife, but he is stepping into a show where they did have access to their phones, but he was going to have to be separated from his family for a bit. So I think the biggest takeaway for me, this whole episode, is I am feeling for Noah and his brother and family
Starting point is 00:19:28 I think we all are and it was really good of the show to bring in why he stayed. I think there would have been too many questions on no, why don't you go home? It's $100,000. But he said my mom would want me to do this and that now, you know, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:19:47 And I was like, I want nowhere to win. I mean, Tammy was great and it doesn't take away from her story but I was like, I was very much like, all right, let's bring this home to mom. I was also like, there's no suspense here. Like, Noah will win this. If you guys don't have Noah win this, we're all going to be very mad.

Look, money is something we all deal with, but financial literacy is what helps turn income into real wealth. On each episode of the podcast, Earn Your Leisure, we break down the conversations you need to understand money, investing, and entrepreneurship. From stocks and real estate to credit, business, and generational wealth, we translate complex
Starting point is 00:23:03 financial topics into real conversations everyone can understand. Because the truth is, most people will never taught how money really works. But once you understand the system, you can start to build within it. That means ownership, smarter investing, and creating opportunities not just for yourself, but for the next generation. If you want to learn how to build wealth, understand the markets, and think like an owner, earn your leisure is the podcast for you. Starting point is 00:23:33 wherever you get your podcast. But we do have to talk about the kitchen, yeah. Yeah, Noah and Tammy end up moving on to work on the kitchen. A critique I have of this is it feels like a really unfair way to judge the final two. Is, hey, work in the same space. You're each going to get these designated areas, and you're going to have to make them work together. And then we're going to pick the person that does it best.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Yeah, I know. It kind of feels like what they did to get from three to two, would have been better for the final chapter than what they did with the kitchen. Because again, it's like they're working in the same space. They're kind of working together. How do you really know if he, like, there's not a clear way that he did it better or not. He was like, I'm trying not to like give her too much advice. Yeah, she's my competition. Yeah, it doesn't really make much sense. Again, not a lot does. But it's okay. It's all for, for, fun and I like the fact that he knocked down that wall that Alicia put up because that did not belong
Starting point is 00:24:47 there. His decorating of the shelf, beautiful. It was too white for the kitchen. It was too white for me. It's just so bright in there. I'm a preservationist here, apparently. Well, there's just so many elements of that house that needed changed. And then there's so many elements of that house that could have stayed and been
Starting point is 00:25:09 upgraded around it and that was one of them. The cabinets could have been replaced and you know, they could have used different colors. I just think going with white made me really weirded out. It just changes the whole house. It does.
Starting point is 00:25:25 I mean, does it make it a more, I think it makes it an easier house to live in. I think it makes it a better house to host people in. But I think their overall vibe of the house changed completely. And it is a little dizzying to me, Ashley, I think in any house where you walk through
Starting point is 00:25:46 one room and it's one style. You walk through the next room and it's a different style. You walk upstairs and the bedrooms are all completely different. Like there was no consistency, I think, with an overall like design theme, which I do think would have been helpful for this show if they would have said, okay, you have to dig in to Spanish architect. And you have to make this like more of a modern like Spanish feel. But there wasn't that. And so everything's different. Every corner in this house at times is different.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Yeah. Hey, how's your house? How's my house? Yeah. Does yours have cohesiveness? Mine certainly doesn't. My house has a livability feel right now. I have a one year old.
Starting point is 00:26:32 It is. I know, right? I guess like when they're eight, like in the eight zone, I'll have a house that like makes sense. When she's not taking a crann to my wall, then I'll think about what I want to do architecturally and aesthetically. But right now, it is survival mode to keep like anything going. So no, I mean, there is a theme. There's a color theme.
Starting point is 00:26:59 I think people would walk in and not be dizzied out. Yeah, I have a color theme. I like greens. Yeah, I don't know. Wood and black. But if I'm honest, Ashley, this was a good. show. It was. It was a good idea. I think whoever came up with this idea, at its core, it's a great idea. I think the show itself was fun to watch. I think the characters were
Starting point is 00:27:23 great to watch. I mostly just got confused at the judging part of things on who stayed, who went, why'd they stay, why'd they go. Yeah. And then, yeah, there was some decision making that I was definitely against. That nook that took away the light and like broke up that kitchen. I was really wanting to be gone early on in the season. That was a big deal. Like, don't break up, don't put a wall and that's not popular anymore. You know, you don't break up rooms. Well, it's starting to become. Do you know that? We're shifting back to more of a less open space, less open concept and more into closed areas. I like a mixture. Okay. See, you and I as judges, how would we ever decide who goes home and who doesn't? See, everything's subjective. It is.
Starting point is 00:28:09 It is subjective. But at the end of the day, the final winner is Noah. And we get to see the celebration and they pump out some rose petals. And it's a beautiful little ceremony. Jojo Fletcher comes super pregnant. Rachel Wilson's there, which is random. Yeah, that was random, actually, wasn't it? Rachel Wilson, not part of either family, just a friend of Bachelor franchise.
Starting point is 00:28:37 And like, she, I think she's so cool. and like she's always had like great California girl style. She comes in like the least cute outfit she's ever worn. I didn't notice that. Do we agree with me, Heather? Is it? Yeah, she said she agrees. She was grieved.
Starting point is 00:28:52 She was giving pilgrim. It's just like that wasn't her style at all. It was like such a strange outfit choice. And I'm not usually one to ever have the authority to judge that. Shockingly, I did not notice. So I can't even make a comment. I couldn't tell you what color she wore or why she wore it. But you know what was fun watching this back, Ashley, is seeing all these people in Bachelor Nation.
Starting point is 00:29:17 And it kind of hit me when Jojo walked back into the scene. How many people have come through the franchise who do have incredible skill sets when it comes to design and style? I don't necessarily know Tasha's background. Obviously, she's been used as a host on the show for multiple things. And so she's a familiar face to us. Well, that's what they wanted. They're like, look, we have one construction guy. Then we have one girl that's known for hosting, and she's a bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:29:41 So, together. That's great. And Tyler, so you have Tyler and Jojo and Sean Lowe, who else came through. Obviously, all the contestants on this season that are just incredibly talented in interior design or in creating spaces that are warm and fuzzy. That was fun. It was fun to see these skill sets get brought to life. And it is kind of a common theme. As much as personal training was a common theme on The Bachelor for years,
Starting point is 00:30:12 it kind of feels like, you know, design was also a theme that was like, and being on the show allowed these people to utilize and pursue that passion, which I think is awesome. Yeah, I think that the people who are part of the show are really glad that they did it. And, like, they feel, yeah. Yeah, like, I feel like they felt like they put a lot of work into it. and that there was a lot of love in the project. And I feel like everybody that was part of it,
Starting point is 00:30:41 like feels satisfied with what the work they did. Yeah, Noah's your winner. Tammy ends up in second place.
